Winner of nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, THE BOOK OF MORMON launched a new North American tour in September 2022, playing more than 50 cities since then. New cities for the 2023-2024 season include Providence, Ft. Lauderdale, Seattle, Boston, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, San Antonio, and many more. THE BOOK OF MORMON features book, music and lyrics by  Trey Parker ,  Robert Lopez  and Matt Stone . The Broadway production is directed by Parker and two-time Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw  and choreographed by Nicholaw. The tour is directed and choreographed by Jennifer Werner  based on the original Broadway direction and choreography. Set design is by three-time Tony Award winner  Scott Pask , costume design is by Tony Award winner  Ann Roth , lighting design is by five-time Tony Award winner  Brian MacDevitt , sound design is by two-time Tony Award winner  Brian Ronan , and hair design is by  Josh Marquette . Orchestrations are by Tony Award winner  Larry Hochman  and two-time Tony Award winner Stephen Oremus. Music supervision and vocal arrangements are by Stephen Oremus. Casting is by  Carrie Gardner .

Since opening on March 24, 2011, THE BOOK OF MORMON has become one of the most successful shows in Broadway history, breaking the Eugene O'Neill Theatre house record more than 50 times. In addition to nine Tony Awards including Best Musical and the Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album, THE BOOK OF MORMON won five Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical, the NY Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, the Drama League Award for Best Musical and four Outer Critics Circle Awards including Best Musical.

The West End production opened in February 2013, winning four Olivier Awards including Best New Musical, and breaking the record for the highest single day of sales in West End history. Australia, the Mormons are back!

The Tony®, Olivier®, and Grammy® award-winning production THE BOOK OF MORMON will return to Sydney from July 2025.

Winner of nine Tony Awards® including Best Musical and the Grammy® for Best Musical Theatre album, The Book of Mormon follows a pair of mismatched Mormon boys sent on a mission to a place that’s about as far from Salt Lake City as you can get. It will premiere at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney from July 2025.

THE BOOK OF MORMON 2025 Sydney Dates

CAPITOL THEATRE : From 15 July – 28 September 2025

The Australian premiere season in Melbourne in 2015 broke the record for the highest selling on-sale period of any production in Melbourne’s Princess Theatre’s 159-year history and also won the Helpmann Award for Best Musical.

THE BOOK OF MORMON  features book, music and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, and Matt Stone. The production is co-directed by Casey Nicholaw and Parker, and choreographed by Nicholaw.

THE BOOK OF MORMON is produced in Australia by Anne Garefino, Important Musicals and Suzanne Jones for JONES Theatrical Group.

THE BOOK OF MORMON is coming to Sydney’s Capitol Theatre from the 15 July to 28 September 2025. Tickets are on general sale from 10am on Friday 2 August 2024 (local time).

‘The Book of Mormon’ returns to Australia

The critically acclaimed musical, ‘The Book of Mormon’ is set to return to Sydney at the Capitol Theatre in July 2025.

Winner of nine Tony Awards® including Best Musical and the Grammy® for Best Musical Theatre album, ‘The Book of Mormon’ follows a pair of mismatched Mormon boys sent on a mission to a place that’s about as far from Salt Lake City as you can get.

Premiering in March 2011 at Broadway’s Eugene O’Neill Theatre, ‘The Book of Mormon’ has enjoyed phenomenal success, breaking box office records across the United States and the West End. Its initial Australian run in 2015 not only set the record for the highest-selling on-sale period at Melbourne’s Princess Theatre but also achieved the Helpmann Award for Best Musical.

As ‘The Book of Mormon’ prepares for its thrilling return, talented performers are invited to audition for a chance to be part of this landmark production. Auditions are set to be held in major Australian cities, offering a unique opportunity for actors to showcase their abilities and potentially join the cast of this internationally celebrated musical.

‘The Book of Mormon’ features book, music and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone. Parker and Stone are the creative forces behind the Emmy and Peabody award-winning television show ‘South Park’, now in its 27th season, as well as feature films ‘South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut’ and ‘Team America: World Police’.

Lopez co-created the Broadway musical ‘Avenue Q’ and co-wrote the songs for Disney’s ‘ Frozen’ and ‘Coco’. Lopez is the first person ever to achieve a double ‘EGOT,’ winning at least two each of the four major entertainment awards: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Awards.

‘The Book of Mormon’ is produced locally by Anne Garefino, Important Musicals, and Suzanne Jones for JONES Theatrical Group, with support from the NSW Government through Destination NSW.

WHAT IS THE BOOK OF MORMON ABOUT?

The musical tells the story of two Salt Lake City Mormons sent as missionaries to Uganda, hoping for a few baptisms and a couple of conversions. Instead, they are welcomed by some very harsh realities and a particularly unpleasant warlord.

The lyrics are guaranteed to have you weeping with laughter.

Written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone , the comedy giants behind South Park and Robert Lopez (Avenue Q and Disney’s Frozen), The Book Of Mormon is a hilarious musical that breathes three-dimensional, all-singing, all-dancing life into the absurdities of Mormon dogma, whilst simultaneously being incredibly rude, potentially offensive and above all, unexpectedly endearing.

Since making its world premiere in March 2011 at New York’s Eugene O’Neill Theatre, where it won nine Tony® Awards, including Best Musical,  The Book of Mormon  has been performed on three continents and won over thirty international awards. The musical has smashed long-standing box office records in New York, London, Melbourne, Sydney and cities across the U.S.

The London production opened at the Prince of Wales Theatre in February 2013 when it set the record for the highest single day of sales in West End history and went on to win four Olivier Awards® including Best New Musical.
