Tour Pack Quick Release Complete Parts List?

I have a 2023 RG Limited and on occasion would like to ride without the Tour Pack. I've been all over the HD site looking at different parts and kits and it's a bit confusing and seems like they want to charge for every single piece/part separately. Does anyone have a complete definitive list of everything that's needed to do a quick release switch to the Tour Pack? TIA.  

I thought the harness already had a quick disconnect, so all you'd need would be the quick detach base, right?  

I wish it were that easy.

They used to sell a kit. On my '16 RGU the plate had no where to mount if you removed the Tour Pack Mounting rack. The turn signals are on the tourpack. The kit puts the plate above the tail light and the turn signals on the saddlebags. One option would be to go with the Special rear lighting and turn signals. Then all you need is the docking hardware and quick release rack.  

Twowheeladdict, I've already taken care of the lights. I have Custom Dynamics filler lights and a new taillight and license plate relo to below the light. Toothpick, I think it should be just the docking and mounting rack, but it says it won't fit my bike. I guess I'll have to just go in there and talk to the dealership. Appreciate everyone, Lee  

yeah, the fitment is going to say that it won't fit your bike. because your bike has a tourpack mounted. that's the thing with hd fitment, if it doesn't fit your bike in stock form, then they will say it doesn't fit.  

Sounds like you got the lights and plate taken care of. Also sounds like the detach rack and docking hardware are known about, as skratch mentioned, fitment confirmation with HD is all about it fitting a bike in the stock configuration. I would say the only other thing you need to do is relocate the antennas.  

Completely forgot about the Antenna. I guess I need to get one of those that put it up in the Fairing.  

Do you listen to FM/AM? Removing the antenna was the 1st thing I did. I don’t even know where it is now. I have my phone playing music exclusively so no need for the antenna. I don’t even listen to FM in my car. If you don’t listen to FM don’t worry about it

Want to be able to remove tour pack and replace with Backrest

Okay guys, What do I need, parts wise to make this happen. I want to be able to remove the tour pack and put in its place a backrest for the better half on short runs and be able to put it back on for the long rides. Gotta have storage for the extra stuff booze and ammo, on the long runs Bike is an 2009 Electra Glide Any advise or suggestions??? Let the games begin B  

You need the removable tour-Pack kit, (which is a different baseplate, and the 4-point quick release brackets that go on the bike. Rack #53276-09B, 4-Point Docking Hardware Kit #54205-09A are the Harley part numbers you need.  

^^^What he said. I put one on a 2003 Electra Glide and another on my 2015 Ultra...easy peasy install. The Harley instructions aren't too bad, but some youtube videos help too. It's pretty simple and you will like it for sure!  

What about the electrical stuff, Jimmers?  

The kit comes with a 'Y' adapter that you plug if you need brake lights. On my 2015 Ultra it came with brake lights/turn signals that fit on the saddle bags...good lookin' too. Everything you need is in the kit. Here's a couple pics of my gal!!

No drilling!! They have some good sticky tape on the lights. Make sure you clean the bags with alcohol to get off old wax and dirt then stick em on. Also, I used a pencil to get the lights lined up correctly. I put it between the light and the rim of the saddlebag lid for equal spacing on both bags. CAUTION: That sticky stuff is really good, so make sure you get it on right the first time!!  

Question 3: when tour pak is back on, do the saddle lights and tour pak lights all work. I assume that’s what the y connector is for. :grin  

I did this conversion last fall to my 2013 FLHTK (Electra Glide Limited), 4 point docking kit, quick release mounting bracket for the tour trunk, tall backrest and luggage rack. For the 4 point docking kit I went with the factory Harley part for best fit from Boardtracker Harley in Janesville Wisconsin, best price. for all of the other parts I went to https://www.ebay.com/usr/modelllo I believe he is from Michigan his backrest and luggage rack are great. just click the link and go to his online store if you order all of the stuff at the same time he will cut you a deal just make him a reasonable offer. I will get pics for you when I get home from work if you want. otherwise you will see my bike in April when I come back to Texas. I also have extra quick release electrical fittings so you can easily plug and unplug the rear tourpak lights.  

I also put in a new laydown tail light and angled plate bracket.

You may as well budget for a solo seat since you will eventually want one. And there are also quick detach kits for lowers available. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I really like the smoked out lights in back. Were you able to keep the bulbs just as bright? I like the look but I want to be as bright or brighter than stock at all times!! Keep the crazies off my ass

But it looks sweet once it's done, and you can still see the plate with the tour pack on, I do not think it will ever be taken off and it looks stock. Now you just have to get the lay down smoked tail light to complete the look.  

The light is LED and damn bright and it takes 1 minute to install just 2 screws to remove the old stock lens cover then just unplug stock light, plug in new light and screw in new smoked layed back lens cover.

I had a custom dynamics on my bike for a couple of years then I switched to Harley-Davidson Laydown LED Tail Light (136 LED Lights) you can get it with or without strobe function, mine is with out strobe, but make sure to order with the license plate light.  

it's not cheap but it looks and works great.

Quick release tour pack

I've noticed that my king quick release tour pack is starting to shake a bit more than usual. Upon inspection found that the plastic spacer mount bushings are getting cut/ worn from the tour pack bracket frame where they contact the mounts. So has any one gone through this before and no I haven't checked with the dealer yet to the availability of replacement plastic bushings. Any input or ideas? thanks...  

It's possible to damage the plastic when you are installing the tourpac, by missaligning the chrome bracket. If it doesn't fit just right it may be a matter of adding or subtracting a washer so the brackets mate up properly.  

Yep, availible separate. Here is the instructions with the part numbers and diagram on bottom 53684-96a for 2 53685-96 for 2 Not crazy money eighter.  

My quick detach king pak rattled on my e-glide. Replace bushings, 500 miles later it would rattle again. Dealer says put electric tape around bushings...this works if you leave it on, sucks if you like to take it off. Someone told me to find a small rubberband and wrap it in the groove. Good luck chuck

Tour pak should line up with plastic gromets when installing. There are several size bushings you can use. A friend had a tour pak that needed three people to install. We lined it up with the proper bushings on each side and now its a one person job to put on. There should be no strain on the plastic gromets. Hope this helps 21,000 miles and no rattles. P.S. I would start with new plastic gromets also.  

Mine squeakls. I would think it is inevitible. Bike shakes, and the pak is just sitting there. I took mine off once this year, and I missed it. If I had a glide I would not even bother with a detach kit. Hardware is ugly anyways. Thinking about trying elec tape. Leave a tab might make it easier to pull off.  

My tour pak use to shake some to. I replaced the plastic spacer mounts and that did the trick.
