The Hearthstone Masters Tour Summer Championship ran from Aug. 19 to Aug. 20 and featured the top 16 players from the April, May, and June ladder. Under the conquest with a ban format, competitors brought four decks into the fray. The ones who had the best score in the best-of-five matches advanced to the next stage.

After the first day of the Hearthstone esports event, the top two players from each group duked it out under a single-elimination bracket. This led to the semifinals where gyu was placed in a group with Meati, PocketTrain, and DreadEye. After sweeping DreadEye 3-0, gyu fought PocketTrain in the finals.

Hearthstone Masters Tour Summer Championship 2023

The first game in the Hearthstone Masters Tour Summer Championship finals showcased gyu's Rainbow Mage against PocketTrain's Nature Shaman. During the game, gyu played cards from different spell schools to increase Sif's spell damage. He also ensured that he had enough burn in his hand to take down PocketTrain. After dropping down Sif, gyu played Flame Geyser and Hellfire for lethal.

Next, PocketTrain opted for Outcast Demon Hunter while gyu went with Hound Hunter. While gyu had a slow start, PocketTrain didn't relent as he peppered face with damage that quickly led to lethal and tied the score 1-1. The player earned another point when he played Rainbow Mage against gyu's Hound Hunter.

Gyu didn't give up as he went with Hound Hunter again. This time, it fought against PocketTrain's Nature Shaman. While gyu created aggressive boards, PocketTrain opted to clear it with value trades. During the late game, gyu played Hydralodon to clear his opponent's side of the board and threaten lethal. PocketTrain was unable to answer it and the impending King Krush, which resulted in a 2-2 score.

The final game showcased gyu's Enrage Warrior versus PocketTrain's Nature Shaman. While gyu built up a board and dealt damage to face, PocketTrain responded with Lightning Storm and Taunt minions to stop the bleeding. However, it wasn't enough as gyu leveraged Sanguine Depths to break through his defenses, push damage, and go face with a weapon for lethal.

Shop Update: Mini-Set, New & Returning Skins (including Mythic Ragnaros), Signature & Card Pack Bundles, Tavern Tickets

master tour hearthstone 2023

Update: Mal’ganis and Kael’thas have been temporarily removed from the shop because of “wrong description”… I’m not sure what they mean by that, but I hope they are added back soon.

Update #2: They are back in the shop now.

Another shop update dropped today! Patch 30.4 was just released, and like most of the major patches, it also came with a big shop refresh. You can now buy the new mini-set (in normal and golden versions), either for Gold or real money. We have some new skins (including the first Mythic Skin – Ragnaros the Firelord) and a bunch of returning ones. Three new Signature bundles are available, including the brand new Signature versions of Raza the Chained and Barnes . And finally, we have some basic Standard bundles and Tavern Ticket bundles refresh (if you bought them previously, you can buy them again now). Anyway, here are all of the new items that are available this week:

  • The Traveling Travel Agency Mini-Set (2000 Gold or $15)  – A new mini-set with 38 unique cards in their normal versions. You can find a full list of cards here.
  • The Traveling Travel Agency Golden Mini-Set (10,000 Gold or $70)  – A new mini-set with 38 unique cards in their Golden versions + a diamond version of Travelmaster Dungar . You can find a full list of cards here.
  • Mythic Ragnaros Bundle (6000 Runestones or $60)  – New Mythic Dual-Class (Shaman/Warrior) skin + 3 Shaman card packs + 3 Warrior card packs.
  • Leyara Bundle (1500 Runestones or $15)  – New Tier 1 Druid skin + related card back + 5 Druid card packs.
  • Steamraider Nozdormu (1000 Runestones or $10)  – New Tier 2 Paladin skin + 5 Paladin card packs.
  • Mal’ganis (1000 Gold or $7)  – Returning Tier 1 Warlock skin. Originally available from the shop in December 2022.
  • Kael’thas Sunstrider (1000 Gold or $7)  – Returning Tier 1 Mage skin. Originally available from the shop in June 2022.
  • Edwin the Renegade (1000 Gold or $7)  – Returning Tier 2 Rogue skin. Originally available from the shop in December 2022.
  • Signature Hemet, Foam Marksman Bundle (4000 Runestones or $40)  – Signature version of Hemet, Foam Marksman + 5 Perils in Paradise card packs.
  • Signature Raza the Chained Bundle (4000 Runestones or $40)  – Signature version of Raza the Chained + 10 Golden Wild card packs.
  • Signature Barnes Bundle (2500 Runestones or $25)  – Signature version of Barnes + 5 Wild card packs.
  • Standard Bundle (2000 Runestones or $20)  – 20 Standard card packs + 2 Random Standard Legendary cards.
  • Golden Standard Bundle (5000 Runestones or $50)  – 10 Golden Standard card packs + 2 Random Golden Standard Legendary cards.
  • Mini Golden Standard Bundle (2500 Runestones or $25)  – 5 Golden Standard card packs + 1 Random Golden Standard Legendary card.
  • Tavern Ticket Bundle (2000 Runestones or $20)  – 11 Tavern Tickets (you can use them to start a new Arena run).
  • Tavern Ticket Mega Bundle (4000 Runestones or $40)  – 25 Tavern Tickets (you can use them to start a new Arena run).

Tier 1 skins are “premium” ones while Tier 2 are more basic. In general, Tier 1 skins tend to include more extra features like completely new emotes, Hero Power animations, unique Hero tray, or some extra visual effects. Some of those might also be included in Tier 2 skins, but usually only 1 of those special features is present (if any). It’s not an official classification – it’s just something we use to differentiate between more basic and premium skins! Blizzard has a few categories of their own for the more expensive skins (Diamond, Legendary, Mythic), but they don’t differentiate between the regular skins.

60 bucks for Ragnaros… I mean, it looks cool and all (albeit not as cool as C’Thun) but… 60 BUCKS!

master tour hearthstone 2023

I agree, I would never spend so much money on a single cosmetic item.

But then again, if they keep adding more F2P stuff to the game, I don’t mind. If those expensive cosmetics will keep the game going, that’s fine.

The problem starts when they do those expensive, whale cosmetics and pay less attention to the majority of their playerbase at the same time (like, you know, getting rid of free game boards).
