(june 16 & 17).

The alternative pop artist from Oslo, born Marie Ulven - is continuing her path to world domination, kicking off 2022 with a  Best New Alternative Artist nomination for the iHeart Radio Music Awards.

It’s a well-deserved nod, considering she was the most played female artist on Alt Radio with “Serotonin”. The song reached #2 and spent 30 weeks on the Alt chart, 21 of those weeks in the Top 10. “Serotonin” streams currently surpass 84M for the track, with over 1.85 billion career streams to date.

girl in red spent much of 2022 on her first headline tour since the release of her debut album; she had a robust run across North America with major festival highlights including Coachella and Lollapalooza. She also had monster sets at Oya, Glastonbury and a sold out headline show at NYC’s famed Pier 17. A passionate live performer she will continue to tour, up next is a UK & EU headline run in 2023, including a sold out show at O2 Academy Brixton.

Ulven released her critically acclaimed debut album  if i could make it go quiet  in 2021, to world-wide critical acclaim from fans and critics alike. Celebrity supporters included Taylor Swift and Camilla Cabello and more. Press response was astoundingly positive, with many outlets proclaiming it  “Best of 2021”  including but not limited to Rolling Stone, Billboard, Variety, NPR, Stereogum, NYLON  and more.

In 2021, she also performed on  The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon  and  Late Night With Seth Meyers , as well as TV performances worldwide including but not limited to  Skavlan ,  Late Night Berlin  and  MTV’s EMA s.

About Gracie Abrams

Since making her debut with “Mean It” in October 2019, Gracie Abrams has emerged as one of the most compelling songwriters of her generation. She is a consummate songwriter who names iconic figures like Joni Mitchell and Taylor Swift as her most formative influences. Executive-produced by Blake Slatkin — and also made with leading producers like Joel Little and benny blanco- her debut project minor features her beloved singles, “21,” and “I miss you, I’m sorry”.

In November 2021, Abrams returned with This Is What It Feels Like, a 12-track project exploring such complex emotional experiences as self-betrayal, insecurity, and failed attempts at connection. Abrams kicked off 2022 with a headline tour of North America followed by a support slot on Olivia Rodrigo’s tour. She reconnected with The National’s Aaron Dessner to release two songs this year – “Block me out” and “Difficult” – and continues to work on her debut album.

About OWENN

This Summer, OWENN, the talented multi-hyphenate, brought his enigmatic spirit and smokey sense of soul to the forefront as he formally introduced himself on his debut tour, highlighted by a Main Stage East show at Lollapalooza Paris; OWENN carried the momentum from Europe having just recently opened for Lil Nas X on the two sold out New York, Radio City Music Hall shows – Long Live Montero Tour.

OWENN has attracted attention contributing dance moves on stages worldwide with A-list artists such as BeyoncĂ©, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Megan Thee Stallion, Normani and others. Including, most recently working with Lil Nas X to choreograph his tv performances for MTV VMAs and live show appearances on the iHeart Jingle Ball Tour.  OWENN became a staple of Taylor Swift’s show on her 1989 Tour  and  Reputation Tour .  In 2019, he starred alongside Taylor in her video for “ Lover ,” as well as Normani in her video for “ Motivation ”.

Inspired by Prince, Marvin Gaye, Usher, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie, and the Smiths, among others, OWENN’s emotional and spiritual approach to dance translated to writing and recording. OWENN’s debut EP will be released in fall of 2023.

Taylor Swift Eras Tour concert review | Pittsburgh, PA | 06.16.23

Delaney Canfield

By now, everyone has heard either a success story or a tragic tale of what it took to get tickets to Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour.” Between the Ticketmaster mess, the resale prices, and the lengths fans have journeyed to attend, everyone has heard about this tour one way or another. After attending her sold-out show at Pittsburgh’s Acrisure Statidum on June 16, 2023, it’s safe to say the hours of waiting in the queue, the tears shed for being scammed, and the last-minute impulse purchases were all worth it. Taylor Swift proved once again that she IS the music industry.

Words fail. Plain and simple. There is no doing justice to what specifically contributes to making this tour such a standout experience.

3.5 hours of nonstop music Taylor performs? Visuals that are a cinematic experience unto themselves? The stunning dancers that take the stage during multiple songs and ALMOST steal the show?

Maybe, above all else, it’s the shared experience of being in a stadium with 59,999 newly-acquired friends and sharing an experience with them that will, whether your paths ever cross again, have formed a lifelong bond.

Whatever it is, fans are flocking to stadiums across the country just to sit outside, or in Pittsburgh’s case, float in boats on the neighboring river, just to hear the 33-year-old singer perform songs from her nearly 17-year-long career.

pittsburgh pa eras tour

Miss Swift knows how to start a show before she even takes the stage. As “Don’t Tell Me What To Do” by Pam Willis played, fans began screaming as if Taylor had already taken the stage. Within a few moments, a large clock appeared on the screen with a 2-minute countdown. The anticipation built as each second ticked down. Many fans began shedding tears with excitement. The struggle, the expense, and the anticipation were all about to reach fruition.

As the name of the tour implies, Swift takes fans on a journey through the various eras of her albums over the years. Rather than going in order, the set begins with the ‘Lover’ Era, which many fans believe is a nod to her Lover Fest shows that were scheduled for 2020 but were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Swift appeared from the floor of the stage, her lyrics of “Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince” barely audible with the 60,000-plus-person crowd screaming with her. The lyrics “It’s you and me, that’s my whole world” seemed like the most fitting way to start the show! Swift beamed with joy as she kicked off the night, rivaled (and exceeded) only by the reactions of those who had come out to see her.

VIEW CLEVEROCK’S FULL GALLERY FROM THE SHOW!

As if Swift’s talent is not enough of a show, her massive stage added an entire additional element to the show. Green pine trees slid into view during the ‘evermore’ era as a massive forest was projected on the screen. During the ‘reputation’ era, snakes slithered up and down the catwalk, and diamonds shimmered during “Bejeweled” in the ‘Midnights’ era. The projections were a small detail that added an extra element for fans watching from the nosebleeds, proving there really is no bad seat in the stadium for a Taylor Swift show.

While fans were screaming along to every song, there are notable moments that show for many fans it truly has been “a long time coming” for them to be singing along with Taylor. She noted during the ‘evermore’ era, while sitting at a moss-covered piano, that she always dreamed of signing the bridge to “champagne problems” in a stadium of people, and it was clear that fans had the same feeling as they screamed” “she would have made such a lovely bride / what a shame she’s fucked in the head” alongside a beaming Swift. Other notable moments came during the ‘Red’ era, when Swift stood under a spotlight with her guitar to perform “All Too Well (10-minute version).” Fans passionately screamed the words “fuck the patriarchy” from the 2021 re-recording of her 2012 album, ‘Red’ In the same song, the words: “The idea you had of me, who was she? / A never-needy, ever-lovely jewel whose shine reflects on you / Not weeping in a party bathroom, some actress asking me what happened / You, that’s what happened, you”

are sung, reminding fans that no matter what year Taylor is releasing music, or what year she wrote it, her words will resonate with someone. Maybe even a stadium’s worth of people.

pittsburgh pa eras tour

A review of this tour stop would not be complete without mentioning the much-anticipated surprise songs of the night. For each show, Taylor picks 2 songs from her discography to perform solo, one on acoustic guitar and one on piano. The entire tour so far she has only repeated a song once, so it’s a very big deal for fans attending and those watching grainy livestreams at hoe what songs are selected each night, as it takes them out of the running for future shows. Taylor gave fans a treat at this show, performing vault track “Mr. Perfectly Fine” from her 2021 album of ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’ for the first time ever live. Her piano song was “The Last Time” from her ‘Red ‘ album. The recorded version features Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol on the album, but it was enchanting and heartbreaking to hear Swift perform this tune solo. Both songs give a message of leaving a past love behind, which will leave many fans coming up with theories and sleuthing for answers to a deeper meaning (as Swifties do best).

There isn’t a high enough word counter for a writer or enough time in the day for a reader to do justice to the 3+ hour, 44-song spectacle that this show was. This tour truly is the event of the decade and something people will be talking about for years to come. Taylor Swift has proven yet again that she will continue to reach higher, shatter glass ceilings, and not let anyone tell her what she can or can’t do. The only question now is: “..are you ready for it?”

Taylor Swift draws record-breaking crowd at Pittsburgh stadium during Eras Tour concert

The Pennsylvania native paid tribute to the Pittsburgh crowd in a message posted to her Instagram on Sunday.

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania -- As Taylor Swift continues to travel through time on her epic Eras Tour, she hit an impressive milestone while performing in Pittsburgh on Saturday.

The "Karma" singer broke an attendance record at Pittsburgh's Acrisure Stadium when 73,117 Swifites flocked to the concert on Saturday, according to the venue. The impressive stat marks the stadium's largest ever audience in its history.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the previous record-holder was Garth Brooks, who drew in a crowd of 72,887 in 2019.

"Pittsburgh thank you for making me feel sooooo at home in my home state. I mean... You broke the all time attendance record and we got to be the first tour to play your stadium twice," she said.

Swift continued to give thanks to the "mesmerizing" crowd, and wished a happy Father's Day "to all the dads but especially mine who is one of my best friends, helped meticulously glue every teeny tiny crystal onto my guitar and still never misses a show."

Saturday night's concert was even more special when Swift brought out The National frontman Aaron Dessner to perform her surprise song "Seven" from the 2020 "Folklore" album that the pair collaborated on, according to concertgoers posting videos of the performance on social media.

It was the first time Swift performed "Seven," which includes lyrics that pay homage to her home state, in front of a live audience. She also performed "The Story of Us" from her "Speak Now" album as the second surprise song of the concert.

Swifties know “All Too Well” that scoring Taylor Swift concert tickets is like running a marathon. If you were one of the many fans who didn’t get a chance to go to any of the shows so far, you probably watched clips of it on TikTok while silently crying wishing you were in the stadium dressed up Taylor’s different eras.

City officials, businesses prepare as Swifties descend upon Pittsburgh

Taylor Swift performs in a glittering suit and stilettos.

Tens of thousands of Taylor Swift fans will descend on Downtown Pittsburgh this weekend to be enchanted by her highly anticipated stint at Acrisure Stadium.

Swift will perform for two consecutive nights at the 68,400-seat venue as part of her sold-out Eras Tour. On top of that, Pittsburgh Regional Transit CEO Katherine Kelleman said the agency expects as many as 15,000 additional fans to tailgate outside the stadium, as they did during Swift’s stop in Philadelphia last month.

The agency announced during the weekend that it would add additional train cars to its light-rail T lines to get fans to and from the stadium.

Speaking outside the City-County Building on Wednesday, however, Pittsburgh Public Safety Director Lee Schmidt discouraged those without tickets from flocking to the North Shore.

“We know that those who are not attending still want to be part of the experience, but we're asking [that] if you do not have tickets, do not add to the volume of people on the North Shore,” Schmidt said. “We don't really have areas to listen, or for you to stand around the stadium safely.”

Schmidt also asked that anyone attending the concert — or any of this weekend’s festivities — get ready for it far ahead of time. He urged people to take public transit as much as possible, as well as park far outside the event areas and walk in.

Parking lots for the concert will open to Swift’s fans at 1:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. But Burt Lauten, senior director of communications for the Steelers, said each will be manned by security guards to ensure only those with tickets enter.

“We want to make sure that the people who do have tickets get in easily, enjoy the concert and then get home safely afterward,” Lauten said.

Pittsburgh police, EMS and the Office of Emergency Management will each be fully staffed this weekend to support all event go-ers — including those attending Juneteenth celebrations through Monday downtown and at Point State Park, as well as multiple Pittsburgh Public Schools commencement ceremonies on Friday.

With highs in the 70s both Friday and Saturday, Amera Gilchrist, the city’s EMS chief, said there isn’t likely to be any cruel summer weather to cause problems. Still, the city will have up to 24 EMS personnel on-site at the concert, as well as additional transport units outside to get people to the hospital as needed.

Start your morning with today's news on Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania.

A major economic driver.

Jerad Bachar, CEO of Visit Pittsburgh, said Swift’s concert is projected to be one of the largest shows ever held in Pittsburgh, potentially breaking Garth Brooks’ record for concert attendance.

Before Brooks — whose 2019 concert at then-Heinz Field sold 73,000 tickets — Swift held the bejeweled crown of Pittsburgh for her 56,445-person show in 2018.

By comparison, Elton John’s 40,000-person show at PNC Park concert last year brought $11.5 million to the region, according to an economic assessment by Visit Pittsburgh and the Pirates.

“The economic impact is pretty remarkable,” Bachar said. “So we're really excited to see what Taylor Swift is going to bring for the community. We know it's going to be much bigger.”

Bachar said economic ramifications of the concert will include the large uptick in people staying at the region’s hotels, eating in local restaurants and going to nearby attractions.

Each of the approximately 6,000 hotel rooms in Downtown Pittsburgh is booked up this weekend, according to Bachar, as are many hotels in the surrounding area.

A WESA analysis found rates for the few rooms that remained open this weekend were as much as five times greater than rates the following weekend, including near the airport and as far north as Cranberry.

As of Thursday morning, fans had already lined up around the North Shore to buy merchandise a day ahead of Swift’s very first night .

According to Lauten with the Steelers, Swifties will come to Pittsburgh from across the country and Canada. The singer-songwriter’s latest tour is passing over nearby cities she stopped at during her 2018 Reputation tour, including Columbus and Cleveland.

  • Justin Fields wins 2nd straight start as sub for Russell Wilson, leads Steelers past Broncos 13-6
  • Freshman QB Eli Holstein guides late rally, Pitt slips by West Virginia 38-34 in the Backyard Brawl
  • These tools can help new and expecting Pa. parents find child care that meets their needs

Pittsburgh is set to host several other megastars between Acrisure and other local venues this summer, including Beyonce and Ed Sheeran, whose tours will also skip those cities.

“You're seeing that Pittsburgh continues to grow in popularity when it comes to these mega events,” Bachar said. “And as we continue to look into the future, a lot of the events that are taking place here, the audiences are getting bigger, they're getting more diverse. They're getting to a point where Pittsburgh is seen as a major events destination. And these types of concerts help drive that reputation.”

An end game analysis of ticket holders won’t occur until after the concert, but Bachar said he’s hopeful those visitors will experience the city and want to return. The momentum for growth is there, he said, as 42% of those who travel to Pittsburgh come back throughout the year.

“If you look at other events like Pride, the growth trajectory that we've seen for Picklesburgh and some of the other local unique events, they continue to grow year over year,” Bachar added.

How businesses are preparing for ‘Swiftsburgh’

Businesses across the region know all too well they can use the influx of Swifties as an opportunity to draw in additional customers.

Kennywood will offer concert attendees $22 off admission for up to four tickets Thursday through Sunday when they show their Eras Tour ticket at the gate.

Millie’s will also start scooping a special batch of Lavender Haze ice cream in its shops Friday, in addition to a similarly-inspired margarita at Las Velas in Market Square.

Brooke Keane of Trace Brewing has been a longtime fan of Taylor Swift. The Bloomfield brewery hosted a friendship bracelet-making event Wednesday evening.

“I think it's a really cute, fun way for fans to meet and get to know each other, and just have Taylor bring people together,” Keane said.

A photograph of a man sitting on a bench in a park while reading under trees.

Continuing the fun, the Carnegie Science Center will hide 10 tiny Swift figurines in their Miniature Railroad and Village exhibit for two days, with each figure corresponding with one of the singer’s 10 albums.

The “tiny Taylors” will remain on display through Sunday, Aug. 20, and, in part, promote an ongoing Taylor Swift-themed laser show running at the Buhl Planetarium through Sept. 4.

“She may not fit into the Miniature Railroad’s timeline or aesthetic,” said Rosalie Garfinkle with the Carnegie Science Center, “but Taylor Swift never goes out of style .”

WESA's Shreya Singh contributed to this report.

Lisa Hartzell says making a last-minute decision to drive 13 hours to see Taylor Swift in Pittsburgh was all worth it.

"Our flight out of Jacksonville last night kept getting delayed further and further, and we were fearful that it was going to get canceled, so we just decided to get in the car and drive up, a 13-hour drive," Hartzell said Friday.

Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 reporter Chandi Chapman asked, "So what ended up happening with that flight?”

"It went out on time," Hartzell said. "So as we were driving north, somewhere around South Carolina, we tracked the airplane we should have been on flying over top of us."

Kristen Smith said, "The things we do for our kids, right? As long as they are here and they are happy, we're happy."

Hartzell said she's from Pennsylvania and wanted her daughters to be with their cousin to see Swift's show at Acrisure Stadium.

Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 spotted Swift walking into the stadium, surrounded by security covering her, with fans yelling, "We just saw Taylor."

Fans have paid thousands of dollars to see the star hit the stage.

Amy Braymer was “The Lucky One” and managed to get tickets to the sold-out concert for under $300 for her and her daughter. The duo celebrated by dressing up with a theme for The Eras Tour.

"It's for 'Lover,' with the pink and the roses to match the album cover, and then I wanted her to match me as well because I was doing 'Lover,'" Averie Braymer said.

Swift will perform a second concert on Saturday.
