Travel advisory june 27, 2024, russia - level 4: do not travel.

Do not travel to Russia due to the consequences of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian military forces. U.S. citizens may face harassment or detention by Russian security officials, arbitrary enforcement of local laws, limited flights into and out of Russia, and the possibility of terrorism. The U.S. Embassy has limited ability to assist U.S. citizens in Russia. The Department has determined that there is a continued risk of wrongful detention of U.S. nationals by Russian authorities. U.S. citizens residing or traveling in Russia should leave immediately.

The U.S. government has limited ability to help U.S. citizens in Russia, especially outside of Moscow. The U.S. Embassy is operating with reduced staffing, and the Russian government has restricted travel for embassy personnel. Furthermore, all U.S. consulates in Russia have suspended operations, including consular services.

There have been reports of drone attacks and explosions near the border with Ukraine as well as in Moscow, Kazan, and St. Petersburg. In an emergency, you should follow instructions from local authorities and seek shelter.

Russia may refuse to recognize your U.S. citizenship if you are a dual U.S.-Russian citizen or have a claim to Russian citizenship. Russia has denied consular officers visits to detained dual U.S.-Russian citizens. The Russian government has forced citizens with dual nationality to join the Russian military and prevented them from leaving the country. In 2022, the Russian government mobilized citizens for its invasion of Ukraine. Military conscription continues.

In Russia, the rights to peaceful assembly and free speech are not always protected. U.S. citizens should avoid protests and taking photos of security staff at these events. Russian authorities have arrested U.S. citizens who joined protests. Moreover, there are many reports of Russians being detained for social media posts.

U.S. citizens should know that U.S. credit and debit cards no longer work in Russia. Due to sanctions, sending electronic money transfers from the U.S. to Russia is nearly impossible.

Commercial flight options are minimal and are often unavailable on short notice. If you wish to depart Russia, you should make independent arrangements. The U.S. Embassy has limited ability to assist U.S. citizens in leaving the country, and transportation options may suddenly become even more restricted.

U.S. Embassy staff generally are not allowed to fly on Russian airlines due to safety concerns. Recently, the FAA downgraded Russia's air safety rating from Category 1 to Category 2. Additionally, the FAA banned U.S. flights in some Russian areas, including the Moscow Flight Information Region (FIR), the Samara FIR (UWWW), and the Rostov-na-Donu (URRV) FIR within 160NM of the boundaries of the Dnipro (UKDV) Flight Information Regions. Country Summary: 

Russian officials have interrogated and threatened U.S. citizens without cause. This includes former and current U.S. government and military personnel and private U.S. citizens engaged in business. U.S. citizens may become victims of harassment, mistreatment, and extortion.

Russian authorities may not notify the U.S. Embassy about the detention of a U.S. citizen and may delay U.S. consular assistance. Russian security services also target foreign and international organizations they consider “undesirable.”

Russian security services have arrested U.S. citizens on false charges, denied them fair treatment, and convicted them without credible evidence. Furthermore, Russian authorities have opened questionable investigations against U.S. citizens engaged in religious activity. U.S. citizens should avoid travel to Russia.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine has destabilized security in southwestern Russia. In October 2022, the Russian government declared martial law in the following border areas with Ukraine: Bryansk, Kursk, Belgorod, Voronezh, Rostov, and Krasnodar. Under martial law, authorities can set curfews, seize property, and restrict movement. The Russian government may detain foreigners, forcibly relocate residents, and limit public gatherings. U.S. citizens should avoid all travel to these areas.

Russian authorities have questioned, detained, and arrested people for “acting against Russia's interests.” Local authorities have targeted people for posting on social media or supporting "anti-Russian" groups and punished individuals for criticizing the government or military. The Russian government's current "LGBT propaganda" law bans discussion of LGBTQI+ related topics. In November 2023, the Supreme Court labeled the so-called "international LGBT movement" as extremist. This decision effectively made it a crime to support the human rights of LGBTQI+ persons in Russia.

Terrorists continue to plan attacks in Russia. The March 2024 Crocus City Hall incident proved they can strike suddenly. Terrorists may target tourist areas, transport hubs, and markets. They may also target government buildings, hotels, clubs, restaurants, and places of worship. Parks, events, schools, and airports are also potential targets.  U.S. government employees under Embassy (Chief of Mission) security responsibility are not permitted to travel to the North Caucasus, including Chechnya and Mt. Elbrus. U.S. citizens should avoid travel to those areas.

The international community does not recognize Russia’s annexation of Crimea and does not acknowledge Russia’s purported annexation of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhya. Russia staged its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, in part, from occupied Crimea and there is a heavy Russian military presence in these areas. There is intense fighting across these regions and Russian authorities there have abused both foreigners and locals. Authorities have specifically targeted individuals who are seen as challenging Russia’s authority.

The U.S. Embassy in Kyiv administers consular services to U.S. citizens in Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhya. However, the conflict limits the Embassy's ability to help U.S. citizens in these areas.

Adams was treated to over $123k in travel perks over five years that he did not disclose: indictment.

Party-loving, jet-setting Mayor Eric Adams lived the high life while allegedly raking in Turkish graft — getting treated to more than $123,000 worth of travel perks, prosecutors said.

Adams failed to disclose six luxurious, paid-for trips spread over five years as legally required on annual financial disclosures, according to a sprawling 57-page indictment unveiled Thursday.

The trips aren’t out of character for the self-declared “swagger” mayor who’s a fixture at New York City nightlife hotspots .

But the feds contend Adams starting in 2016 illegally accepted the lavish travel arrangements — which he allegedly did not disclose — from wealthy foreign businessmen and at least one Turkish government official looking for favors from the up-and-coming pol.

Business class flights, opulent hotel rooms, free meals at high-end restaurants and luxurious entertainment — either free or heavily discounted — were all on the menu during Adams’ travels his foreign fixers set up while flying on Turkish airlines, the indictment details.

One summer 2017 trip for Adams, a relative and a close staffer who served as his “liaison to the Asian-American communities in New York” boasted an enviable itinerary: Nice, France; Istanbul, Turkey; Columbo, Sri Lanka; and Beijing, China, according to court papers.

The business class flights for the trio were worth a jaw-dropping $35,000 and they all also received “a heavily discounted stay” at the St. Regis Istanbul hotel for two nights — where Adams stayed in the “Bentley Suite,” the filing claims.

The ritzy suite would have cost roughly $7,000 for both nights but Adams paid less than $600, the indictment claims.

The deal with Turkish Airlines was so cushy that Adams even flew them when it was inconvenient, court papers contend.

During the France trip, his longtime partner Tracey Collins was surprised to learn he was in Istanbul for a flight from New York to France in 2017, the indictment states.

“Transferring here,” he texted his partner, according to the documents. “You know the stop is always instanbul (sic).”

At another point, Adams repeatedly pushed Collins, who was planning a trip to Easter Island, to see if Turkish Airlines could be used, the court papers contend.

Adams even required his to call the airline to “confirm that they did not have routes between New York and Chile,” the documents state.

Adams, then Brooklyn’s borough president, allegedly started accepting the perks during October 2016, when he and Collins took a trip to India on Turkish Airlines.

He bought two economy class tickets for the duo that cost $2,286, but two days before takeoff they were upgraded to business class tickets — were worth roughly $15,000 — for free, the court papers allege.

The trip kicked off a years-long pattern of travel, where free perks were assumed, the feds contend.

During one ultimately canceled planned trip to Istanbul, an Adams staffer who helped arrange travel momentarily balked at a Turkish Airlines manager’s suggestion that the pol stay at the Four Seasons hotel.

“It’s too expensive,” the staffer wrote, according to the indictment.

“Why does he care? He is not going to pay,” the manager wrote back, court papers state.

The canceled trip would have been swanky — Adams and his partner would have bedded at the Four Seasons, embarked on a yacht tour, stayed three days at a posh resort and been supplied with a car and driver, according to the indictment.

Adams only paid $1,100 for each international flight and was only set to pay “a nominal price of $720” for the rest of the trip — which would have cost over $8,500, the indictment states.

A fundraiser for Adams ultimately went on the trip to Turkey instead the next day and was treated to “transportation from the airport, a free hotel, and free use of a VIP room in the Turkish Airline’s business class lounge,” the indictment states.

Other trips detailed in the indictment show that Adams didn’t miss out on fringe benefits during other trips.

Adams and his liaison went to Nepal during 2017 through Istanbul and Beijing on free business class tickets worth over $16,000 on the Turkish Airline, the feds allege in the court papers.

Adams only paid $1,100 for each international flight and was only set to pay “a nominal price of $720” for the rest of the trip — which would have cost over $8,500, the indictment says.

The mayor and his partner then took a trip to Budapest, Hungary in January 2018 on a free upgrade to business class flights worth $14,000, the indictment alleges.

His partner originally bought the economy tickets for $560 a pop but in December 2017, Adams’ staffer asked for the free upgrade at his behest, the documents allege.

Adams took a trip to Istanbul again in 2019 for the purpose of “raising campaign contributions illegally in Turkey” and was comped an upgrade to business class on that flight.

On that trip he asked for and accepted, “free hotel stays, dinners, and a boat trip” as well as a “free two-night stay in the Cosmopolitan Suite of the St. Regis,” worth $3,000, the indictment says, including photos of the posh suite.

He also received perks including a “car and driver, a boat tour to Princes’ Islands in the Sea of Marmara, a Turkish bath at a seaside hotel, and at least one meal at a high-end restaurant,” the indictment claimed.

The final trip detailed in the indictment originally started as a planned trip to Pakistan, for which Adams purchased two roundtrip economy class tickets on Turkish Airlines $1,436, according to the indictment.

A staffer for Adams asked whether he was still intending to travel there and whether she should have his “tickets upgraded to business class.”

Four days before the trip to Pakistan, Adams asked for his destination to be changed to Ghana — which they did so at no extra cost. 

Turkish officials reassured an Adams staffer that they’d “take care of the layover in Istanbul” including providing a BMW 7 with a driver and dinner at a high-end restaurant where he met with a Turkish official, the documents state. No photos were allowed at the dinner.

During the nine-hour layover he was also treated to drinks at a separate location, before boarding his business class flight to Ghana. He passed on the offered Bosporus Strait cruise, explaining he had “done the boat tour a few times,” according to the indictment.

The Adams staffer stressed there be “no media attention, including social media” during this layover, court papers state.

Once in Ghana, the mayor pushed for media coverage in “stark contrast” of the Istanbul layover, the indictment states.

After the layover, a Turkish official texted an Adams staffer: “Is Eric happy then?”

“He is very happy,” the staffer texted back, according to the indictment.

The journey of K K Travels began in the year 1988 with Kedar S Kasar in the driving seat. He set out with one car but with a drive to succeed in the race.

It was a challenge to meet the requirements of the customers with just one car at the disposal. But the sincerity to serve did not go unnoticed and soon the company was associated with corporate clients.

Tie-ups with some esteemed multinational & large and small national companies followed and K K Travels became a force to reckon with on the road.

The Brand “K K Travels” got recognition and was further developed with sheer hard work.

The company’s cars and buses were now hired on call as well as yearly contract basis. What put it ahead in the fiercely competitive marketplace was uncompromising hard work, punctuality, safety, periodic renewal of fleet and excellent friendly back office support.

In 1995, the company rolled out air-conditioned buses for Pune – Mumbai (CSIT) airport and Pune airport transfer. The highlight of the service was residence pickup and drop within Pune City and adjoining areas.

The strategy was same; starting with a single schedule and one bus and later expanding to hourly to and fro departures between Pune and Chhatrapati Shivaji International Terminal ( Mumbai Airports )and vice versa.

The success was repeated in 2006 in Nashik city with pickup and drop facility between residence and airport. It now has daily 12 departures from both sides.

That same year in June, the company started providing a bouquet of tours and travel services that included Air Ticketing, Holiday Tours (Domestic & International), Hotel Booking, Passport & Visa Assistance; Currently run under the brand www.kktravelsonline.com.

The next year, the company shifted gears from Bus Service to Hourly Shared Cab Services for Airport transfers to meet the heavy demand for departures at shorter intervals and unfriendly traffic conditions in Pune and Mumbai Cities.

The journey so far has taken the company places with a fleet of 300 cabs and own offices in Pune, Mumbai and Nashik . All the offices are operational round-the-clock. The bookings are done online with the Pune, Mumbai and Nashik offices connected with a Server stationed in Pune.

Despite the growth, the motto still remains delighting the customers on their journeys, no matter how long or short that be.

In the year 2016 , K K Travels has been granted E-recognition as a Tourist Transport Operator by Travel Trade Division, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India

Moscow is unlike any other city on Earth. It is the wealthy economic center for one-sixth of the world's land mass and has over 120 ethnic groups and nationalities. A diverse and vibrant city with a strange combination of traditional Russian architecture and newer Soviet tastelessness, Moscow is an adventure waiting to happen!

Reasons to travel to Moscow

But what makes it so popular among tourists is the concentration of Moscow attractions. When you travel to Moscow you definitely want to see the red-bricked walls of the Kremlin , to take a picture in front of St. Basil's Cathedral , and probably visit the world-famous Bolshoi Theater . All of these places are located within a very small area around Red Square , so seeing them on a walking sightseeing tour of Moscow is convenient and allows you to avoid traffic jams.

The concentration of Moscow's main sights is one of the facts that make this city a world-class tourist destination. The majority of its attractions is centered in one small area, and the Kremlin is the hub of this concentration.

These sights extend into the realm of fantasy and are a must to put on your Moscow itinerary: the colorful domes of the Cathedral of St. Vasily the Blessed, the neo-gothic consumer wonderland that is the GUM , or state department store, and the timepiece of Russia's New Year's celebrations, the Spassky clock tower, all tower over the beautiful Red Square.

The neighboring Kitay-Gorod, or "Basket-Town" (likely a reference to the construction method of the city walls surround it), remains a significant concentration of traditional Russian structures serving as a commercial center. The Bolshoi Theater, the Lubyanka, and the hotels that tower above the Manege Square all are situated within the Boulevard Ring, an urban open-space doubling as a heavily-trafficked roadway created after the Great Fire of 1812, the one that left Napoleon's Army starving deep within wintry Russia.

Moscow transport system

As Europe's largest metropolis, and the 5th largest city in the world, Moscow comes with its share of traffic blunders. It seems that all of the world's most expensive black cars are here, and that most of the city's car owners do not understand the difference between sidewalks and parking lots. Still, while the traffic situation leaves much to be desired, the Moscow subway is superb.

The advanced Metro system carries up to 3 million passengers a day and its trains run every few minutes. With stations that could rival art museums, the Metro is one of Moscow's great must-see sights. Travel in Moscow Metro at least once to see that there is nothing like it in the world.

Best time to visit Moscow

The peak of the Moscow travel season is May through September. However, you may prefer to savor Moscow tourism delicacies during the low travel season. The snowy winter months offer just as many entertainment options as one can find during summer.

You can celebrate New Year's Eve or see Russia's biggest ice rink on Red Square, taste blinis or visit one of the numerous winter markets. Any popular St. Petersburg - Moscow tour hides a handful of memorable experiences the whole year round!  

Although the best time to visit Moscow is from May to September, the city in winter still enchants with its towers and lights. Its great celebrations on the day of the October Revolution (held on November 7, a discrepancy resulting from the difference between the traditional Russian Julian calendar and the Gregorian calendar in use around the world today), and New Years Day make it the place to be.
