IDW is excited to announce that acclaimed screenwriter, producer, and comic book writer Marc Guggenheim (CW’s television series Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow , Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca ) will assume the captain’s chair for an all-new, five-issue comic book series, STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE — ECHOES , set immediately after the events of the momentous 1979 film .

Star Trek: The Motion Picture — Echoes #1 Cover A by Jake Bartok

Featuring spectacular artwork by Oleg Chudakov and colors by DC Alonso , ECHOES pits the venerated Admiral James T. Kirk and his crew against enemies both terrifying and shockingly familiar! When a space anomaly thrusts a criminal mastermind — pursued by a very determined pilot on a mission — into our universe, the Enterprise must stop them from unintentionally starting a war with the Romulans and unleashing a superweapon of foreign technology into the system. But things get infinitely more complicated when these newcomers to our reality remove their helmets, revealing that they’re doppelgängers of our beloved heroes!

“Despite watching the occasional fragment of a Star Trek episode here and there with my father, my true introduction was going to see Star Trek: The Motion Picture with my grandparents — I was entranced. I’m thrilled that IDW and Paramount Global have allowed me to revisit that time period, which was so impactful to me and my love of Star Trek ,” says Guggenheim. “Almost all Trek stories are told from the point of view of the Enterprise crew, but I was interested in telling a story from the perspective of an outsider as a means of recapturing how it felt for me when I first saw Star Trek: The Motion Picture .”

Star Trek: The Motion Picture — Echoes #1 Cover B by Oleg Chudakov

“What does it mean to draw this new Star Trek adventure? It’s like revisiting my childhood, but at the same time learning something new. It’s amazing!” says Chudakov.

“When everything in life feels like it’s moving too fast towards the future, it’s always important to step back and revisit where it all came from. And that’s exactly what we’re doing with this comic focusing on the Star Trek: The Motion Picture time frame ,” says series editor Heather Antos . “No one knows more about this period in Trek history than Guggenheim, we’ve learned…and we could think of no one better suited to take Kirk and his crew on this wild adventure. Paired with Chudakov’s energetic, character-driven inks, this is one mission that the crew of the Enterprise soon won’t forget. Oh, and did we mention that there are possible easter eggs to some of our other Trek books, too?”

Arriving in stores this May, STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE — ECHOES #1 will be available with multiple cover variants for retailers and fans to enjoy, including Cover A by Jake Bartok, Cover B by series artist Oleg Chudakov, and retailer incentive variants by Luke Sparrow and Rod Reis .

New 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture—Echoes' comic series channels the 1979 film

Screenwriter Marc Guggenheim takes center seat for this deadly 'Trek' adventure coming in May.

star trek echoes comic

Nearly 44 years ago, Trekkies around the globe swooned as the long-delayed silver screen version of their favorite sci-fi offering arrived in theaters.

Director Robert Wise's " Star Trek: The Motion Picture " debuted in December 1979, and its volatile V’ger energy field wreaked galactic havoc. "Star Trek: The Original Series" had been off the air since 1969, and creator Gene Roddenberry was endeavoring for nearly a decade to launch a big-budget Hollywood feature bringing back the TV show’s entire cast.

When it arrived that Christmastime, "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" scored average reviews with its cerebral plot and long runtime, but since then its reputation has risen in estimation as a smart sci-fi classic, especially as the restored 4K Director’s Edition has beamed on to streaming services for a new generation.

Now, IDW Publishing is returning to that spacey world of bell-bottomed uniforms and regulation disco haircuts in the form of a new five-issue comic book release titled "Star Trek: The Motion Picture—Echoes," which takes place following the Earth-saving events of the 1979 spectacle.

Written by screenwriter, producer, and comic book scribe Marc Guggenheim (CW’s "Arrow," DC's "Legends of Tomorrow," Marvel Comics' "Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca"), then matched with engaging art by Russian illustrator Oleg Chudakov and colors by DC Alonso, this major miniseries project finds the familiar Enterprise crew clashing with their sinister doubles.

"When everything in life feels like it's moving too fast towards the future, it's always important to step back and revisit where it all came from. And that's exactly what we're doing with this comic focusing on the 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture' time frame," notes series editor Heather Antos.

"No one knows more about this period in 'Trek' history than Guggenheim, we've learned … and we could think of no one better suited to take Captain Kirk and his crew on this wild adventure," Antos added.  Paired with Chudakov’s energetic, character-driven inks, this is one mission that the crew of the Enterprise soon won't forget. Oh, and did we mention that there are possible easter eggs to some of our other 'Trek' books, too?"

Here’s the official miniseries synopsis:

"Echoes" pits the venerated Captain James T. "Despite watching the occasional fragment of a 'Star Trek' episode here and there with my father, my true introduction was going to see 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture' with my grandparents — I was entranced," said Guggenheim in an IDW press release.

"I'm thrilled that IDW and Paramount Global have allowed me to revisit that time period, which was so impactful to me and my love of 'Star Trek,' Guggenheim said. IDW Launching ‘Echoes’ Comic Miniseries Set Right After ‘Star Trek: The Motion Picture’

IDW continues to ramp up its Star Trek comics output with the announcement of another miniseries, this time  tied into the first movie in the franchise. The new Star Trek: The Motion Picture – Echoes series is written by Marc Guggenheim, creator of Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow CW television series.

TMP – Echoes

This will be the first IDW comic set in the Star Trek: The Motion Picture era. The five-issue miniseries is set immediately after the events of the 1979 film. Here is the official synopsis:

Echoes pits the venerated Admiral James T. Kirk and his crew against enemies both terrifying and shockingly familiar! When a space anomaly thrusts a criminal mastermind—pursued by a very determined pilot on a mission—into our universe, the Enterprise must stop them from unintentionally starting a war with the Romulans and unleashing a superweapon of foreign technology into the system. But things get infinitely more complicated when these newcomers to our reality remove their helmets, revealing that they’re doppelgängers of our beloved heroes!

The series features artwork by Oleg Chudakov and colors by DC Alonso, along with a series of different covers for each issue. “What does it mean to draw this new Star Trek adventure? It’s like revisiting my childhood, but at the same time learning something new. It’s amazing!” says Chudakov.

In addition to his extensive series of television credits, Marc Guggenheim has written for over two dozen comic titles across both DC and Marvel. This will be his first time writing for Star Trek, at least officially. When he was just starting out in the ’90s, he wrote a Star Trek: Voyager spec script .

“Despite watching the occasional fragment of a Star Trek episode here and there with my father, my true introduction was going to see Star Trek: The Motion Picture with my grandparents—I was entranced. I’m thrilled that IDW and Paramount Global have allowed me to revisit that time period, which was so impactful to me and my love of Star Trek,” said Guggenheim in a statement. “Almost all Trek stories are told from the point of view of the Enterprise crew, but I was interested in telling a story from the perspective of an outsider as a means of recapturing how it felt for me when I first saw Star Trek: The Motion Picture .”

IDW Celebrating 500th Star Trek Comic With Big Era-Spanning Anthology

Kirk was a captain at the end of the movie, even wearing captain’s rank insignia. Presumably his admiral rank at the beginning of the movie was temporary. (Same for Decker, who went from captain to commander.)

Kirk was demoted to captain in ST IV. At the end of TMP he was an admiral, serving as captain.

WOK took place over a decade after TMP. Presumably by that point Kirk had received a regular promotion to his rank. Tellingly, he was the same rank, what we’d call Rear Admiral Upper Grade, both in TMP and in WOK, which may indicate that he wasn’t really at the rank the first time we saw him. (Of course, while commanding the Enterprise in the interim for five or ten years, his rank may have been frozen.)

Kirk did say that Decker’s rank reduction was “temporary”.

You’re right. Which means maybe Kirk’s was as well. Commanders of a ship are often called “captain” even if they’re lower, but I don’t know they’d be if they were actually admirals, though. And Kirk’s rank stripes did change as well.

In IV, V, and VI there seemed no problem in having *three* captains on board (Kirk, Spock, and Scotty).

Kirk was still an admiral. He remained an admiral until Star Trek IV. The captaincy role didn’t mean he was demoted.

You have a point- see my responses above- but I’m still not sure.

Kirk was an admiral as TMP begins. He tells Scotty he’s spent “Two and half years as chief of Star Fleet operations.” He’s addressed as Admiral Kirk. There’s no evidence of his being anything but an admiral.

There’s probably an out of universe reason for his demotion to captain. Fans wanted him to be “Captain Kirk” again, without another title. Not to mention avoiding his having to sling that fancy wide swath of sleeve braid around on the bridge.

Ha! Good point.

Take your hands off Spock, Daft Punk.

She seems to be female under this Mask. You can see the bulge on her Chest on the Cover

Oh, well, that changes everything.

Would rather see an IDW series adapting the PHASE II Scripts…including the alternate version of what became the first movie. IF the Kelvin Universe is out there, shouldn’t the PHASE II one be out there someplace 2? Pilot movie and 13 scrips could easily get 28 issue run.

I love this idea!!!😀👍🐕

This would be amazing.

That, may very well be something I would buy into.

This to me was always an exciting time period. You had the Enterprise clearly the flagship of the fleet with the Chief of Starfleet Operations aboard. Many speculate that there was a 5 year mission in there. The DC Comics of the time were awesome – you also had the clear disappearance of the Organians and the Federation having to react to that. Lots of drama too with some having Nogura having brought Kirk in to save Starfleet only to see Nogura getting pushed out.

The DC comics weren’t set post-TMP other than a single issue or two. They were set post-TWOK, post-TSFS and post-TVH. The first Marvel series and the L.A. Times Syndicate strips were post-TMP, however.

I think the first eight issues of DC were post WOK pre SFS, the next thirty or so were post SFS pre TVH, and the next twenty or so were post TVH.

Of course, each movie in turn ended those possibilities, with only a few days between WOK and SFS, three months (all on Vulcan) between SFS and TVH, and a month (on Earth) between TVH and TFF.

The second DC series was all post TFF, and there was plenty of time there, almost a decade before TUC.

There’s about twelve and a half years between TMP and WOK- time enough to let the characters catch up with their actors’ ages- so Kirk may even have commanded the ship for ten years.

“This will be the first IDW comic set in the  Star Trek: The Motion Picture  era.”

It really isn’t. There have been a handful of others from IDW. :)

They should do a live action series set in this time. Could be a natural follow up to SNW. Keep the actors they have cast already and ditch the disco era uniforms and you have a good, back to basics show the franchise needs at least one of.

That’s the first decent idea I’ve heard with regards to a Kirk-era show.

I could really get into this!!!

great era to mine. The book “Ex Machina” is a fun read set after TMP and a sequel to more than one TOS episode.

A bunch of the early novels were set at various points in this era.

This is the era new movies should be set in…

but this kirk is more chilled post TMP. i liked the messed up admiral who stepped on people to take back the chair and needed a lesson in hubris

Kirk, Spock, Bones, and the crew of the USS Enterprise return in the upcoming IDW miniseries Star Trek: The Motion Picture — Echoes

IDW Publishing has announced the new comic book miniseries Star Trek: The Motion Picture “Echoes”. Written by Marc Guggenheim  ( Arrow ,  DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,   Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca ), illustrated by Oleg Chudakov,  and with colors by  DC Alonso , the five-issue series will be set immediately after the events of the momentous 1979 film.

The series is scheduled to arrive in stores this May, with multiple variant covers — including Cover A by  Jake Bartok,  Cover B by series artist Oleg Chudakov, and retailer incentive variants by  Luke Sparrow  and  Rod Reis.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture - Echoes covers A and B

“Despite watching the occasional fragment of a  Star Trek  episode here and there with my father, my true introduction was going to see  Star Trek: The Motion Picture  with my grandparents—I was entranced. I’m thrilled that IDW and Paramount Global have allowed me to revisit that time period, which was so impactful to me and my love of  Star Trek, ” said Guggenheim via press release. “Almost all  Trek  stories are told from the point of view of the  Enterprise  crew, but I was interested in telling a story from the perspective of an outsider as a means of recapturing how it felt for me when I first saw  Star Trek: The Motion Picture. ”

Star Trek: The Motion Picture - Echoes retailer incentive covers

“When everything in life feels like it’s moving too fast towards the future, it’s always important to step back and revisit where it all came from. And that’s exactly what we’re doing with this comic focusing on the  Star Trek: The Motion Picture  time frame,” said series editor  Heather Antos.   “No one knows more about this period in  Trek  history than Guggenheim, we’ve learned…and we could think of no one better suited to take Captain Kirk and his crew on this wild adventure. Paired with Chudakov’s energetic, character-driven inks, this is one mission that the crew of the  Enterprise  soon won’t forget. Oh, and did we mention that there are possible easter eggs to some of our  other   Trek  books, too?”

'Star Trek: The Motion Picture—Echoes' features Kirk and crew vs. doppelgängers

‘star trek: the motion picture—echoes’ features kirk and crew vs. doppelgängers.

The five-part ‘Star Trek: The Motion Picture—Echoes’ is by Marc Guggenheim and Oleg Chudakov.

David Brooke

IDW has revealed a new miniseries is on the way featuring the original crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise by Marc Guggenheim and Oleg Chudakov called Star Trek: The Motion Picture—Echoes ! The five-issue series is set immediately after the events of the momentous 1979 film. It arrives in comic shops this May.

“Despite watching the occasional fragment of a Star Trek episode here and there with my father, my true introduction was going to see Star Trek: The Motion Picture with my grandparents—I was entranced. I’m thrilled that IDW and Paramount Global have allowed me to revisit that time period, which was so impactful to me and my love of Star Trek,” says Guggenheim. “Almost all Trek stories are told from the point of view of the Enterprise crew, but I was interested in telling a story from the perspective of an outsider as a means of recapturing how it felt for me when I first saw Star Trek: The Motion Picture.”

So what’s Star Trek: The Motion Picture—Echoes about?

Echoes pits the venerated Captain James T.

“When everything in life feels like it’s moving too fast towards the future, it’s always important to step back and revisit where it all came from. And that’s exactly what we’re doing with this comic focusing on the Star Trek: The Motion Picture time frame,” says series editor Heather Antos. “No one knows more about this period in Trek history than Guggenheim, we’ve learned…and we could think of no one better suited to take Captain Kirk and his crew on this wild adventure. SAN DIEGO, CA (February 15, 2023) – IDW is excited to announce that acclaimed screenwriter, producer, and comic book writer Marc Guggenheim (CW’s television series Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca) will assume the captain’s chair for an all-new, five-issue comic book series, Star Trek: The Motion Picture—Echoes, set immediately after the events of the momentous 1979 film. Featuring spectacular artwork by Oleg Chudakov and colors by DC Alonso, Echoes pits the venerated Captain James T. Kirk and his crew against enemies both terrifying and shockingly familiar! It’s like revisiting my childhood, but at the same time learning something new. It’s amazing!” says Chudakov. “When everything in life feels like it’s moving too fast towards the future, it’s always important to step back and revisit where it all came from. REVIEW – Star Trek: The Motion Picture ‘Echoes’ Issue #1

Connor Schwigtenberg

Today from IDW Publishing is Star Trek: The Motion Picture ‘Echoes’ Issue #1. Picking up soon after the events of The Motion Picture , we see Kirk in command for one “final” mission before moving back to his role in Starfleet Operations. The gap between TMP and Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan is one I’ve long since wanted to be expanded, and this looks to be doing just that. It’s even got plenty of surprises in tow, with some massive twists I didn’t see coming.

So, who is this mysterious general? What does this have to do with Chekov? And how does this square up as a follow-up to Star Trek: The Motion Picture ? Let’s find out as we delve into the latest Star Trek adventure.

Available from: Star Trek: The Motion Pictures ‘Echoes’ Issue #1 via Amazon

A Doppleganger Interloper

Star Trek: The Motion Picture ‘Echoes’ Issue #1 opens with what we saw in the preview. A mysterious General, giving chase to an equally unknown ship. For a franchise that specializes in the alien, the fact it can still feel so completely different from everything I’ve seen before is astounding. It makes sense with the reveal that both of these ships are from yet another parallel universe and that this General is none other than the Enterprise’s own Uhura.

We’re currently not sure just how these ships ended up in the prime timeline. I’m sure this will become a lot clearer as the villainous Akris is revealed later in the series. Nonetheless, this brief action spectacle makes for really thrilling reading. As much as I adore The Motion Picture as a visual and philosophical spectacle, I don’t think saying this scene has more action than the whole film would be controversial.

star trek echoes comic

There’s a brief scene between the two Uhuras that teases something potentially larger going on. War is pretty much always multifaceted, full of people with all sorts of allegiances. Outside of a flash of a Bajoran Orb’s destructive path, we’ve seen nothing of this other universe. There’s no proof this other Uhura is telling the truth. I’d love for the rest of the series to continue along this path, exploring these people’s complex motivations.

Havoc on the Enterprise

You can’t have an intruder on the Enterprise without a punch-up in sickbay and a fight in the hallway. When I tell you Star Trek: The Motion Picture ‘Echoes’ Issue #1 absolutely relishes in that, believe me. Not only do we get to see Uhura kickass, beating up multiple security officers at once, but she also punches McCoy in the face. As much as I appreciate a continuation of the drafting joke from the film, as well as Chapel getting to do literally anything, I’m far too fond of a good punch-up.

star trek echoes comic

I’m not sure quite how the human Uhura was so immune to Spock’s nerve pinch though. Perhaps it’ll be explained later, but it’s also not something I’m all that distracted by. At least she wasn’t immune to being thrown around by him. Spock’s written really nicely too, with just the right amount of humor, befitting of the story’s placement in the timeline and his recent time away on Vulcan.

I also appreciated how the reveal’s handled in Star Trek: The Motion Picture ‘Echoes’ Issue #1. In hindsight, it’s obvious with all the words she was throwing around, with Uhura being a linguist. However, it still caught me off guard. I really wonder what twists the other future issues in the series could bring. The scene change was a little jarring, however. I feel we could’ve benefitted from seeing the characters’ immediate reactions, even bringing the Prime Uhura down. But that’s just me nitpicking, seriously this part was so much fun.

The Multiversal “War Criminal”

The Enterprise is given two full-page panels dedicated to indulging in the majesty of the ship, and that’s well before the space battle. In this way, I guess it’s this series version of the lengthy shots seen in the movie. Very clever. However, this parallel universe must be very different from even the mirror universe. The parallel Uhura doesn’t recognize the ship, or anybody on it with the exception of Chekov, who she brands a “war criminal”. Due to the ambiguity of Uhura’s story, that’s staying in quotes. I can definitely feel a twist coming.

star trek echoes comic

From this, I guess that Akris, the villain of the series, will be a version of Chekov. This is only reinforced through him being an unseen character, that his identity will be revealed next time. Parallel Chekov being a proper villain is also the logical stepping stone from the scheming Mirror Universe Chekov from “ Mirror Mirror “. Having both characters in the same universe also presents an interesting opportunity for impersonation down the line, another thing I really hope the rest of the series indulges in.

Akris also either has or has at least used a Bajoran Orb. I’d love for this to tie into the Orb drama in the 24th Century comics at the moment, even if it is a long shot. He’s also a skilled pilot, holding his own against the Enterprise at the end. However, with the fight cut short by the Neutral Zone, I wonder if he aligns himself with the Romulans he meets at the end (beautiful job with the Bird of Prey by the way). As an underused TOS-era villain, it’d be cool to see a bigger conflict in the 23rd century, one with potentially massive stakes.

Issue Preview

star trek echoes comic

I mean, it’s written by Marc Guggenheim. The man is a legend, and his work on Arrow in particular had a profound impact on my nerdom. As admittedly biased as I am, it’s a lovely setup, filled with all sorts of visual nods to Star Trek: The Motion Picture . As cool as the whole story is, it’s so fulfilling to see those underused uniforms getting such an action-packed multiverse story. This is a Star Trek story not to be missed, with a lot of potential to be my favorite comic yet!

Star Trek: Echoes #1 Review

Writer:  marc guggenheim art:  oleg chudakov colors: dc alonso letters:  jeff eckleberry publisher:  idw comics price: $4.99 release date: may 17th, 2023.

Set right after 1979’s “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” (you know, the one where Kirk and crew are wearing those disco-style white and grey outfits), Star Trek: Echoes #1 has the Enterprise encountering a ship that came through a spatial anomaly and the surprising warrior that’s aboard it.   It’s a slam-bang action tale set in a time period of Trek that’s rarely been explored.

If you’re interested in this comic , series , related trades , or any of the others mentioned, then simply click on the title/link to snag a copy through Amazon as you read the Star Trek: Echoes #1 Review .

I have to admit, when I saw “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” at the ripe old age of 10 years old, I was disappointed by it. The film seemed sterile and frosty.  There was none of the warmth and good-natured bickering between Spock and Mccoy.  The new characters added (Decker and Ilya) were as bland as cold potato soup.  There were no great space battles or one of Kirk’s miraculous last minute saves (that would come in the next film, the spectacular “Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan”).  The film was more akin to “2001: A Space Odyssey” than to any of the original Trek episodes.  Over the years, I’ve come to like the film a bit more, but it’s still near the bottom of my list of Star Trek films.

Now we get Star Trek: Echoes #1 which is set just days after the events of “Star Trek: The Motion Picture”, and thankfully it’s a lot better than that film.  It’s action-packed, gives us a few surprises and sets up a potential face-off with one of the Federation’s deadliest enemies. We even get to see Kirk at odds with the military brass again.  Kirk will always prefer commanding the Enterprise and exploring the unknown instead of doing bureaucratic work as an Admiral, and when a mysterious ship appears out of a spatial anomaly, Kirk takes the Enterprise in to investigate it, bringing down the wrath of one of the Federation High Command, who accuses him of using this as an excuse to hold on to commanding the Enterprise longer.  One of the things I always liked about Kirk was that he was never a “yes man”, he bristles at the higher ranks and being chained to a desk, so it’s nice to see that even in this era, he still hasn’t lost that urge to go against authority.

star trek echoes comic

I’m not going to give away the surprise occupant of the mysterious spacecraft that comes out of the spatial anomaly.  Suffice it to say they bring big trouble with them.  We get some great fight scenes as the visitor fiercely resists being thrown in the brig by Kirk and the crew, resulting in a flurry of martial arts combat where even Spock gets involved. My favorite Trek stories are those that feel like they’re a lost episode of Trek.  This tale fits the bill.  All the Enterprise crew’s personalities are on point and this really does feel like an old episode of Trek that never aired.  Doctor McCoy is his usual sardonic self, throwing out a few great quips during the course of the story, Uhura is as brave and strong-willed as ever, and Scotty proudly whips up a solution to a big dilemma the ship gets into.

star trek echoes comic

Other than the identity of the visitor, there are no big mysteries here like classic Trek episodes “The Naked Time” or “The Immunity Syndrome”, where there’s a problem that has to be figured out or contained.  Once the visitor’s identity is revealed, the book becomes a cat and mouse chase similar to classic episodes like “Balance of Terror” or “Journey to Babel” (when the Enterprise was attacked by a kamikaze-style Orion ship). I think this is where Kirk really shines, when he’s on the hunt or in combat.  Sure, cosmic anomalies and time travel stories are fun, but there’s nothing like watching Kirk take the Enterprise into battle, and the issue ends on a cliffhanger setting up what could be a huge battle between the Enterprise and one of the Federation’s greatest enemies.   Fire photon torpedoes!

star trek echoes comic

Oleg Chudakov’s art on Star Trek: Echoes #1 captures each of the characters demeanor and features.  His Doctor McCoy is 100% DeForest Kelley and his Spock is one of the best versions of Spock I’ve ever seen. The action scenes flow and the Enterprise appears both massive and sleek throughout the book.

Final Thoughts

Star Trek: Echoes #1 is a fast-paced kickoff to the miniseries, with some great action and great moments for the characters.  We get to see Kirk come under fire from the upper brass again and the issue ends on a riveting cliffhanger that sets up a potentially very bad dilemma for the Enterprise next issue.

All Wuthering Waves Resources, Explained

Wuthering waves: all active codes for june 2024 & how to redeem them, every viewpoint location in wuthering waves, quick links, how to farm echoes fast, how to farm echo exp items.

Making your collection of characters grow stronger is the core goal of Wuthering Waves , but you need to farm plenty of Echoes and Echo XP to accomplish this. Echoes are resources dropped by specific enemies you face, while Echo EXP are other items that level up Echoes. Ranging from bonuses to a character's health, damage, or defense, every benefit from an Echo makes them worth collecting in large numbers.

There are many different Echoes in the game, with each providing a unique buff that can be equipped to your favorite characters on your team. Various bosses, such as the Mech Abomination in Wuthering Waves , drop an Echo when defeated during your adventure. As you continue to face new enemies and reach unexplored areas of the open world, you will have more chances to farm Echoes and Echo EXP items.

Wuthering Waves is a complicated gacha action-RPG with many intricate systems. Here's all Wuthering Waves resources as the game currently stands.

Defeat Enemies Over And Over For Rare Drops

The easiest method for hunting Echoes in Wuthering Waves is to look up and go to where specific enemies spawn , then defeat them continuously until they drop an Echo . Whenever you encounter a new type of enemy, they are registered in the Echo Gallery of your Data Bank. Individual creatures from this glossary can be tracked to certain locations where you can quickly defeat them for possible Echoes.

Whatever Echoes you collect can be stored in your Data Bank, which can be upgraded to host stronger Gold Echoes once it reaches Level 15.

You can also defeat every enemy you see as you explore and level up in Wuthering Waves to earn Echoes fast. The best enemies to find for Echoes are Tacet Discord bosses , who always have an increased 20% chance of dropping an Echo upon their defeat. Since these foes respawn only a short time after they are beaten, you can simply wait for a boss to appear again to try farming an Echo drop once more.

Unlock A Location That Has Everything You Need

One of the similarities between Wuthering Waves and Genshin Impact comes from the Tacet Fields, which are like Artifact Domains within the game. Tacet Fields are the best places to farm Echo EXP items due to how they condense all the materials you may need in one area. These smaller locations are only a fraction of the size of the open world, reducing the travel time it takes to find enemies who drop the materials you want.

You can also farm various Echoes from the enemies located in Tacet Fields. Certain Fields have different "sets" of enemies and bosses located within them that you can check before entering the area.

You can challenge Tacet Fields as many times as you would like, but you need to spend Waveplates to receive any rewards from them . These rewards can include Echo EXP materials, so you'll always want to be able to gather these earnings when you can. It takes 60 Waveplates to get every reward from a single Tacet Field expedition, which does limit the number of times you can visit these areas.

If you do not have enough Waveplates, you can always buy Echo EXP items from the Illusive Realms Store and Souvenir Store in Jinzhou . The in-game Points Shop also sells Echo EXP, but you should only spend money if you have exhausted your other options. When you figure out the best farming methods for Echoes and Echo EXP items in Wuthering Waves , you can get both resources easily without dipping into your wallet.
