Tom Cruise’s Workout and Diet Plan

No physique transformation goal is mission impossible, ever..

Written by Vidur Saini

Last Updated on 19 September, 2021 | 12:42 AM EDT

Maverick, Ethan Hunt, Jack Reacher, Nick Morton, Roy Miller, and the list continues. Movies change, characters change, storylines change, but Tom Cruise’s physique and fitness level remain unchanged.

While we see actors like  Tom Hardy ,  Chris Hemsworth , and  Chris Evans routinely undergo body transformations for their roles, Cruise has stayed away from this trend. He has been sporting the same athletic look since he entered Hollywood.

Do not get us wrong. We do not mean that it makes Tom Cruise any less of an actor. In fact, it sets him apart for two reasons:

  • Maintaining the same aesthetics throughout requires discipline that only a few possess.
  • In this aesthetic obsessed world, he proves that an actor does not need a physique transformation to wow crowds

Born in Syracuse, New York, Tom Cruise had a rough childhood. He grew up on the verge of poverty and spent much of his early days moving from one place to the next (it is reported that he attended as many as 15 schools in 14 years).

Tom Cruise’s body has to play catch up to his larger-than-life roles in movies. The 59-year-old movie megastar is 5’7″ tall and on the shorter side of the Hollywood A-list.

Tom Cruise Lets His Body Do The Talking

Cruise has mastered the art of body language and conveys more through his actions than words.

“Watch him in any interview: he sits with elbows wide and never hangs back,” says Dianna Booher, a communication consultant. “Fill space and people conceive you as a large person.”

Tom Cruise

By 18-years-old, Tom Cruise moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting. Shortly after, he scored brief roles in films like  Endless Love  and  Taps soon. His short but powerful presence became an instant draw. At 21, he was starring in blockbusters like  The Outsiders  and  Risky Business. They were All The Right Moves, if you ask us.

Tom Cruise’s Fitness Principles

Fitness principles act like anchors that help keep you on the right path. Cruise swears by these principles:

1. Eat Less

If rumors are to be believed, Tom Cruise regularly trains with David Beckham, who has him following a 1200 calorie-a-day diet plan.

1200 calories will ruffle many feathers, but if you know a thing or two about weight loss, you would know that to lose weight, you need to be in a  calorie deficit  – meaning – you have to be expending more calories than you consume.

Related:   Calorie Calculator: Find Your Daily Calorie Intake for Reaching Your Ideal Weight

2. Do Not Restrict Yourself To The Weight Room

Tom Cruise does not confine himself within the four walls of a gym for his workouts. He loves engaging in outdoor activities and maintains a proactive passion for all forms of adventure that helps keep him naturally fit.

To quote him directly (from a 2018 interview): “Sea-kayaking, caving, fencing, treadmill, weights, rock-climbing, hiking, I jog, I do so many different activities.”

Tom Cruise Diet Plan

Tom Cruise Diet Plan

While it is no secret that Tom Cruise follows a 15 meals-a-day diet plan (you read that correctly), he has never dwelled into details. Although we do not know the exact specifics of his diet, we have details of his diet’s macro break-up  and preferred food sources.

Only a small part of the 1200 calories come from carbs. Cruise prefers vegetables and lean protein in form of grilled chicken breast, fish, egg whites, and whey protein as the primary source of his calories. Fats, on the other hand, come from healthy sources like nuts.

Each of his 15 small snacks is prepared by one of his two personal chefs, and it includes foods such as nuts and freeze-dried organic blueberries.

Estimated Macro Breakup:

  • Carbs – 10%
  • Fat – 35%
  • Protein – 60%

What To Eat on the Tom Cruise Diet:

What to avoid on the tom cruise diet:.

  • Refined carbs
  • Processed sugar
  • Preservatives
  • Artificial sweeteners

As per some reports, Cruise gets most of his calories from grilled food and avoids carbs as much as possible.

But why is that, you ask?

According to studies , higher carb intake can increase glucose production in the body, which can lead to excess body fat, muscle inflammation, and other unwanted outcomes.

On top of that,  research has shown  that a low-carb diet can reduce muscular inflammation, particularly for people who are obese or have metabolic syndrome.

Tom Cruise Workout Program

Tom Cruise Workout Plan

Tom Cruise’s training routine consists of traditional strength training exercises and a range of outdoor activities.

Cruise trains five days a week. He uses three days for weight training and cardio to remain in shape. On the remaining days, he engages in other outdoor physical activities.

Tom Cruise’s workout program is designed keeping in mind that he performs most of his own stunts. Staying nimble, functional, strong, and flexible are top priorities for Tom.

Monday: Chest, Triceps, and Shoulders

  • Warm-Up:  10-min walk
  • Bench Press:  3 Sets 10 Reps
  • Dumbbell Kickback:  3 Sets 10 Reps (Each Arm)
  • Dumbbell Shoulder Press:  3 Sets 10 Reps
  • Incline Barbell Press:  3 Sets 10 Reps
  • Seated Dumbbell Shoulder Front Raise:  3 Sets 10 Reps
  • Seated Dumbbell Tricep Overhead Extension:  3 Sets 10 Reps
  • Cable Chest Fly:  3 Sets 10 Reps

Rest:  30-seconds between sets and exercises.

Tom Cruise does not spend more than 45 minutes on a workout. So, keep your training intensity high and do not rest for more than 30-seconds after a set.

Perform all exercises with the correct form while following a full range of motion. Do not bother yourself with lifting too heavy. The goal of the Tom Cruise workout and diet program is not to put on 10lbs in 10 weeks but to look like an individual who has discovered the elixir of youth.

Tuesday: Activity Day

  • Choose One:  sea-kayaking, caving, fencing, treadmill, rock-climbing, hiking, jogging, running, etc.

The activity day workout should last for at least an hour. If your goal is weight loss, perform the outdoor workout first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

You could also break down the 60-minute workouts into smaller HIIT circuits for optimal fat loss. For example, if you are out running (Tom Cruise-style), perform an all-out sprint for the first minute and then slow down and catch your breath for the next minute. Repeat this circuit until you reach the 60-minute mark.

Wednesday: Back, Biceps, and Traps

  • Deadlift:  3 Sets 10 Reps
  • Preacher Curl:  3 Sets 10 Reps
  • Barbell Shrug:  3 Sets 10 Reps
  • Seated Dumbbell Hammer Curl:  3 Sets 10 Reps
  • Lateral Pulldown:  3 Sets 10 Reps
  • Cable Row:  3 Sets 10 Reps
  • Cable Shrug:  3 Sets 10 Reps
  • Reverse Cable Bicep Curl:  3 Sets 20 Reps

The mind-muscle connection is a crucial aspect of bodybuilding. Do not go through the reps for the sake of it. Hold and contract your muscles with every repetition for optimal muscle recruitment.

The Tom Cruise workout program maintains a balance between compound and isolation exercises. While compound (multi-joint) lifts are great for building strength and improving functionality, isolation (single-joint) exercises are incredibly effective at building muscle conditioning.

Thursday: Activity Day

Since you have two activity days in the program, you should switch between LIIT (low-intensity interval training) and HIIT (high-intensity interval training) workouts to get the best of both worlds.

Stretching after every workout and especially on activity days is non-negotiable. Your workouts should consist of a combination of static, dynamic, and pre-contraction stretches.  According to research , regular stretching ensures your muscles are strong, healthy, and flexible enough to maintain a full range of motion in your joints.

Need more reasons for stretching?

Have you ever wondered how Tom Cruise would jump over buildings, walk through laser beams, and kick a 6’5″ villain in the face if he was not flexible enough?

Friday: Legs and Abs

  • Squat:  3 Sets 10 Reps
  • Weighted Lunges:  3 Sets 10 Reps (Each Leg)
  • Leg Press:  3 Sets 10 Reps
  • Cable Pull-Through:  3 Sets 10 Reps
  • Hamstring Curl Machine:  3 Sets 10 Reps
  • Leg Extension Machine:  3 Sets 10 Reps
  • Standing Calf Raise:  3 Sets 10 Reps
  • Cable Crunch:  30 Reps
  • Hanging Leg Raise:  20 Reps
  • Russian Twist:  1 Minute
  • Plank:  1 Minute

After the leg workout, Tom Cruise gets into an ab training circuit. Since Cruise follows a low-calorie diet, he does not have to work too hard for his abs.

On a calorie deficit diet like Cruise’s, you can build washboard abs by performing three ab circuits a week.

There are no accessory muscles on the Tom Cruise workout program. Although Tom weight trains three days a week, he does not miss training any muscle group – whether abs, calves, or forearms.

Saturday & Sunday: Rest

If you think Tom Cruise Netflix and chills on the weekends, you are mistaken. The perfectionist is one of the most hardworking individuals in the film industry. He is always working on himself and trying to be better than he was yesterday.

On your rest days, go out for a 15-20 minute walk. You could also engage in low-intensity activities like bowling, golf, or foosball. The idea is to keep moving and staying in a calorie deficit state.

The Tom Cruise workout routine is a breath of fresh air for people who dread going to a gym six days a week. While traditional workout programs might get boring and redundant after some time, Cruise’s outdoor adventures keep you excited and motivated for each training session.

Protein Supplements

Since Cruise follows a low-calorie diet, it becomes essential for him to include supplements in his program. Here are the supplements he relies upon:

1. Multivitamin

Multivitamins are one of the most frequently consumed supplements in the health and fitness world. Most multivitamin supplements contain a healthy dose of potassium, vitamins, iron, and many other important but often overlooked minerals.

Some benefits of multivitamins include:

  • Increased energy levels
  • Reduced stress and anxiety
  • Improved mood
  • Better memory
  • Maintained muscle health

2. Magnesium

Magnesium is an essential mineral that your body cannot make. Our body needs it to ensure optimal performance of basic functions. Because we cannot produce it, we obtain it through our diet.

Cod liver oil provides omega-3 fatty acids which are essential nutrients that cannot be produced by our body.

EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) are key fatty acids in cod liver oil. They are essential for fetal development, healthy aging, weight management, cardiovascular health, inflammation, and even cell membrane health.

4. Joint Support

While the Tom Cruise workout plan is physically exertive, the diet program is not enough to support the wear and tear on your joints. Hence, a joint support supplement becomes indispensable.

5. Whey Protein

Tom Cruise does not go easy on his muscles. His workouts are intense, and his schedule is jam-packed – meaning he is breaking down muscle tissue faster than they recuperate. A whey protein supplement is essential to ensure he does not end up looking like Matthew McConaughey in  Dallas Buyers Club .

Conclusion

Tom Cruise’s workout and diet program are especially great for people with smaller frames as they focus on balance, muscle symmetry, and proportions to create a big physique illusion.

Inside Tom Cruise's Strict Daily Diet That Includes 15 Snacks and 'Low Temperature' Cooking

The 62-year-old avoids sugary snacks, preferring only foods prepared by his private chef and fruit, which he believes helps to reduce anxiety.

a person waving from a plane

At 62, you'd think Tom Cruise might slow down as he navigates his seventh decade. But that's not the Tom Cruise way. Recently seen at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, the eternally youthful Cruise looks fitter than many thirty-year-olds.

So, what's his secret to long-lasting energy, razor-sharp focus, and a body that defies gravity? You're about to find out because his daily diet has just been revealed.

According to the Daily Mail, Tom Cruise opts for 15 snacks a day instead of three main meals to better accommodate his busy lifestyle. When dining out, he requests steamed white fish and vegetables without oil, butter, or sauce. His drink of choice? Always alcohol-free. Reportedly, the celebrity's secret is that he 'works harder than anyone else' and can be found in the gym at 5:30am – although it's known that he's not a massive fan of the weights room. He also swaps crisps and chocolate for fruit, which helps him 'reduce any anxiety'. In fact, Cruise avoids all high-sugar snacks, processed foods and carbohydrates and instead opts for food cooked at 'low temperatures' by his personal chef.

Low temperature cooking, done safely, cooks food while preserving the nutritional content to support health . It also keeps the food higher in flavour and moisture.

a woman sitting on a couch with a plate of food

Cruise focusses on antioxidant rich fruits and vegetables for their anti-inflammatory benefits. Antioxidants help defend the body's cells from free radicals, which can cause oxidative stress and increase our risk of developing illnesses. He includes foods such as:

  • Dark chocolate
  • Blueberries
  • Vitamin and mineral supplements

While some find benefit from spreading their meals throughout the day, for the majority, choosing an eating schedule that suits your appetite, preferences and time constraints is usually best, to ensure adherence to your diet. And perhaps, 15 snacks a day may be a little excessive for some.

Tom Cruise Workout Routine, Diet Plan & Supplements

James Cunningham, BSc, CPT

Celebrity workout routines are among the most common requests I get from clients, and Tom Cruise usually ranks high in those requests.

It probably has to do with the fact that his character Ethan Hunt from the Mission Impossible series looks almost half his age,  as fit and young as Maverick did in Top Gun over 30 years ago.

So we decided to share our tried and tested Tom Cruise diet and workout routine to see how many of our readers could stick with it.

  • Born: July 3, 1962, in New York
  • Height: 5’7”
  • Weight: 150 lbs

Whether it’s sci-fi thrillers or the latest spy movies, Tom always seems to be involved in a load of action scenes doing his own stunts.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tom Cruise (@tomcruise)

It’s a credit to his dedication to hard work and almost endless love to stay fit.

Here’s how he does it.

Tom Cruise's workout routine, a blend of weight training and adventurous activities like high-intensity interval training and agility drills, is vital for his demanding roles and overall fitness.

These specialized exercises, essential for his action-packed performances, keep him in peak condition.

In my experience as a health and performance coach, clients often overlook the mental aspect of fitness.

Cruise's success, evident in roles from Rain Man to Jack Reacher, isn't just due to his physical regimen but also his disciplined and resilient mindset, a key factor in sustaining such a rigorous fitness routine.

Let’s show you what to do.

man working out using ropes in a gym

  • Bench press (3 sets of 8 to 10 reps)
  • Shoulder press (3 sets of 8 to 10 reps)
  • Dumbbell front raise (3 sets of 8 to 10 reps)
  • Triceps kickbacks (3 sets of 8 to 10 reps)
  • Cable chest fly (3 sets of 8 to 10 reps)
  • Rope triceps pull down (3 sets of 8 to 10 reps)

This is not a day for boring treadmill running. It’s about action-packed outdoor activities that get your heart pumping.

“Sea-kayaking, caving… fencing, treadmill, weights… rock-climbing, hiking… I jog… I do so many different activities.” - Tom Cruise

man working out using dumbbells

Here you’ll shift to working on your back and biceps, respectively. It would probably help to have a personal trainer or training buddy to watch your form, as quality counts here way more than quantity.

  • Deadlift (3 sets of 8 to 10 reps)
  • Lat pulldown (3 sets of 8 to 10 reps)
  • Hammer curls (3 sets of 8 to 10 reps)
  • Seated cable rows (3 sets of 8 to 10 reps)
  • Preacher curls (3 sets of 8 to 10 reps)

Same as day 2, this should be all about fun and action-packed activity, like rock climbing, sea kayaking, caving, fencing, etc.

You’re focusing on the legs today, and you’re likely to feel that lower body muscle jelly once you’re done.

  • Weighted calf raises (3 sets of 8 to 10 reps)
  • Squats (3 sets of 8 to 10 reps)
  • Hamstring curls (3 sets of 8 to 10 reps)
  • Dumbbell lunges (3 sets of 8 to 10 reps)

Tom Cruise's workout routine will only get you so far when it comes to shaping a new physique.

He has spoken a few times about trying different diets and that he limits his carbs and never eats junk food.

But crew members of some of his film sets have reported that he tends to snack all day, often choosing foods rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties to aid in recovery and stamina, especially after intense physical activities and stunt work

Some reported that there are chefs on-site who are always preparing snacks with very specific macro profiles. Rather than three meals a day, he could have a diet of 15 snacks.

When you have a Hollywood studio budget tending to all your diet and fitness needs on and off the red carpet, then you can see how that kind of approach will work.

But if you’re not a superstar actor, then those eating habits would be quite tricky to stick with.

That said, in my coaching experience, I’ve worked with many people who spread their diet plan over six or more small-size meals, and they find it works great to avoid treats and crappy foods.

medicine kit full of vitamins

To stay in shape, Tom relies on a few supplements. After all, he pays close attention to giving his body everything it needs, whether he’s shooting films or just in preparation mode for the next blockbuster.

Because Tom has a habit of eating lots of small snacks, it would be difficult for him to get a large protein boost after a weight and fitness session. But that’s where a high-quality whey protein shake can make a huge difference, as shown by studies published by the National Library of Medicine [ 1 ].

Tom aims to boost his vitamin B and D intake, as well as magnesium and zinc, even though his diet is carefully planned. This kind of fitness regime will put a lot of strain on micronutrients, and he simply cannot afford to have them impact his physical condition.

How Fast Does Tom Cruise Run a Mile?

Tom Cruise has claimed that he can run a mile in just over 4 minutes. Some people have calculated his running speed in movies like Mission Impossible II at about 17 miles an hour, making Tom’s claim possible.

Is Tom Cruise a Vegan?

No, Tom Cruise isn’t vegan, even though he probably limits the amount of meat he eats. He’s very conscious of his diet and how it impacts his ability to stay in shape and stick with his workout routine. But that still involves some meat and dairy products.

At 61, Tom Cruise looks and moves better than a man half his age.

Cruise has been scaling skyscrapers and leaping from planes for four-plus decades now. Seven Mission: Impossible s (soon to be eight), two Top Gun s (soon to be three), and one War of the Worlds later, and he’s still going strong. His famous base jump from a motorcycle—after driving straight off a cliff, naturally—in M:I 7 was proof that the old man (no offense) has still got it.

While many 60-plus-year-olds are nursing hip injuries, it’s refreshing to see Cruise out kicking ass. The question is, how exactly has he seemingly maintained peak performance for so freaking long? Here’s everything you need to know.

About the Experts:

Sean Sullivan, CSCS is a certified personal trainer with his BS in Exercise Science, and the Director of Health and Performance at Matterhorn Fit . He specializes in corrective exercise, functional fitness, and body composition.

Imashi Fernando, MS, RD, CDCES is a registered dietitian who works in a large hospital system as a clinical dietitian and provides one-on-one nutrition counseling through her virtual private practice, Brown Sugar Nutrition PLLC.

He’s Always Active

Like Cruise’s  X bio , and an overflow of memes and  montage videos  point out, the dude runs. A lot. Whether the action star is sprinting away from an explosion, an alien invasion, or straight down the side of a building, according to a  Rotten Tomatoes  report “as the number of feet Tom runs increases, so do the critical accolades.”

As you’d guess, the guy puts in work on the treadmill. But it takes a bit more than running to prep for stunts like hanging from an in-flight airplane (not once, but eight takes in a row for  M:I 5 ). When  Men’s Health  asked Cruise how he stays young, he pointed back to the variety in his routine: “Sea-kayaking, caving…fencing, treadmill, weights…rock climbing, hiking…I jog…I do so many different activities.”

Regularly switching up cardio and strength work is a great way to challenge both the body and mind. “When the body is forced to continually adapt to a new stimulus, the brain forms new neural pathways in response to the new stimulus,” says personal trainer Sean Sullivan, CSCS. Variety can also help to suss out any weaknesses—like mobility or strength deficits—and improve them.

Plus, having fun with movement will inevitably keep you engaged as you age, adds Sullivan. “Movement shouldn’t feel like a chore. Tennis, pickleball, hiking, swimming, and skiing can keep you moving while making your routine more well-rounded.”

CELEB WORKOUTS

He’s Chasing Gains at the Gym (and on Set)

To move like Cruise, you have to strength train . Simon Pegg’s (who co-starred in MI:7 with Cruise) trainer, Nick Lower, told GQ that Cruise trains religiously. “There is no bullshit, he’s in top condition all the time,” Lower said.

“Strength training becomes increasingly important as you age to both maintain and build muscle mass,” explains Sullivan. Strength training can improve your functional fitness (your ability to complete daily tasks with ease). It also can help you maintain good posture and healthy ranges of motion for common injury-prone areas like the shoulders, hips, and knees, Sullivan notes.

To build the kind of efficient mobility and strength one would need to, say, climb a skyscraper on your average workday, Sullivan says a combination of upper and lower body compound , functional, and explosive lifts is key.

Cruise also puts a heavy emphasis on the eccentric training (or lowering portion of an exercise), according to Lower. “He uses this very expensive, high-end machine that instead of just being a normal chest press machine, for example, it works you on your eccentric load, pushing you back,” Lower told GQ .

You can train eccentrics by slowing down the lowering phase of any exercise. For example, taking three seconds to lower into a lunge, then exploding upwards for one second. “Eccentric training is an effective way to increase the time a muscle is under tension, causing the muscle to break down and fatigue faster,” says Sullivan.

He Loves a Good Snack

With a busy schedule on set, Cruise stays energized with healthy snacks. According to Newshub , the actor eats a ton of small snacks throughout the day, including freeze-dried organic blueberries and nuts.

His co-star Pegg revealed to E! News that Cruise’s personal chefs were available to the whole crew for Mission: Impossible—Rogue Nation . “[They would prepare] these lovely little dates filled with peanut butter and sprinkled with coconut for snacks, and these little balls of truffle that were great,” Pegg said.

Snacking between meals is a good way to keep your blood sugar (and thus, energy up), registered dietitian Imashi Fernando, MS, RD, CDCES previously told The Edge . “A healthy snack includes a mix of protein, healthy fat, and complex carbs which work together to provide energy, promote satiety, and balance blood sugar,” she said.

He Eats Extremely Clean

While old reports (dating back to 2008) that link Cruise with a David Beckham-devised diet of grilled foods, no carbs, and 1200 calories daily are still circulating, Pegg debunked those rumors back in 2015. He told E! News that Cruise always eats clean and healthy, but it’s “insanely good food, which wasn’t like boring rabbit food or a protein shake .”

On set, Cruise’s chefs prepared healthy fare including “great stews” and a range of healthy snacks. While the crew was largely grateful to partake in Cruise’s chef-prepared meals, “occasionally at the end of the day, you’d eat the chocolate on your bed pillow because we couldn’t resist it,” Pegg told E! News . “But Tom never did. Tom is disciplined to a T. It’s amazing.”

He Avoids Added Sugar

“I love sugar, but I can’t eat it because when I’m training, I’m doing all these movies—so I send it to everyone,” Cruise said on  The Late Late Show With James Corden . He famously sends his co-stars cakes, hoping to snag a vicarious sugar high. “I wait for the calls…like, tell me about it,” he added.

Cruise steering clear of sugar, particularly added sugar, isn’t the worst idea, according to Fernando. “A diet high in added sugars is a known risk factor for insulin resistance, weight gain, and poor metabolic health all of which are predictors of decreased longevity ( 1 ,  2 ),” she explains. “Additionally added sugars have been linked to biological markers of aging like oxidative stress and alterations in the gut microbiome—which plays a crucial role in overall health ( 3 ,  4 ).”

To reduce the negative impact of added sugars, the  American Heart Association  recommends limiting added sugars to no more than 6 percent of total daily calories ( 5 ).

Tom Cruise Workout Routine

Can you believe we don’t have a Tom Cruise workout yet?

I know, me neither.

With the new movie Top Gun: Maverick currently filming it enforced a sense of obligation on me to have Tom Cruise’s routine on the site well before release.

He’s been pumping out some great movies, forever, but also recently as well. Continuing on with the Mission: Impossible series with “ Fallout “, and in 2017 both American Made and The Mummy were pretty damn awesome.

Another quick mention I’m going to throw in here just because I love the books is the fact that Cruise also plays Jack Reacher (from the Lee Child series) in two awesome movies.

Figured I’d remind you…

Tom Cruise Stats:

Height: 5’7

Weight: 170 lbs.

Age: 56 years old

Tom Cruise is pretty short.

Like, well below average among celebs we’ve seen at SHJ.

The shorter range is guys like  Mark Wahlberg ,  Zac Efron ,  Kit Harington ,  Tom Holland  and more.

The average height falls in the range of 6’1-6’3 with celebs like  Chris Pratt ,  Chris Hemsworth ,  Hugh Jackman ,  Chris Evans ,  Adam Driver ,  Stephen Amell ,  Clive Standen  and so many more.

Even taller than them are guys like  The Mountain ,  Dwayne Johnson ,  Joe Manganiello ,  Ben Affleck ,  Jason Momoa ,  Ray Fisher ,  Winston Duke ,  Alexander Skarsgard  and a few others.

But, don’t worry either way.

We write these routines to be utilized by any shape and size.

Tom Cruise Diet and Nutrition

Currently Tom Cruise has a bit of a “different” diet regime going on.

I’m going to share it with you, and then I’m going to talk about sustainability and some other options.

In an article from NewsHub.co we get some details what they call his “bizarre diet”:

Tom Cruise’s bizarre eating habits and on-set behaviour have been revealed after he and his  Mission: Impossible  team wrapped up a month’s shooting in New Zealand. According to a source who worked on the South Island set, the  Top Gun  star opts against the standard three meals per day in favour of a daily diet of 15 snacks. Cruise is said to have had his own pair of personal chefs who prepared the small courses for him, which included freeze-dried organic blueberries and nuts.

I mean, I have nothing against being different and not having three meals a day.

I personally have two meals a day and intermittent fast the majority of the day like Hugh Jackman and Terry Crews .

But, hey, it’s about what works for YOU.

And, Mr. Cruise, if 15 mini meals is working, you do you!

We promote sustainability above everything else at SHJ.  If you can’t sustain being a SuperHuman, what’s the use?

That’s why our Academy Nutrition Classes (Monks, Greek Gods, Spartans, SuperHumans, Vikings, Minimalists, Hunter Gatherers, Samurais) are based around our members finding what works specifically for each individual.

If Cruise finds that it’s easiest for him to split up his meals into 15 mini spurts, then so be it.  At the end of the day it’s going to come down to his macronutrients and calories more than anything else.

The tools you use while eating those calories are more about YOU.

Tom Cruise Workout Routine Research

So there’s a good handful of “Tom Cruise Workout Routine” articles out there currently.

None of which I like.

All contradict each other, and none seem to utilize any of the sources that actually come from interviews with Cruise.

Thankfully, we’re going to use an interview Men’s Health did with Cruise in order to build the routine.

Men’s Health states:

When asked how he stays young, Cruise responded: “Sea-kayaking, caving… fencing, treadmill, weights… rock-climbing, hiking… I jog… I do so many different activities.” Cruise doesn’t just have the body of a man half his age – he moves like one (remember the  Mission Impossible: II  opening scene?). Variety is the secret for those of us for whom David Beckham isn’t a training buddy. “How we move conveys energy and youth – not how buff we are,” says Anne Elliott, a sports scientist at Middlesex University. “Regularly switching up cardio and strength work with something like fencing or climbing – like Cruise – maintains flexibility and balance: the first two things that give your age away.”

We have seen this SO often among celebrities.

Utilizing your fitness and moving.

I can’t even tell you how many programs feature a 3 day weight training regime with a 2 day “activity” regime like this one will.

Because it’s in the hundreds.

That’s how often we see it among these celebs that are getting out there and being active while sustaining their fitness.

As I write in the Superhero Programs we have, I personally like to utilize a walk for cardio and on off-days as well.  I like to get outside and see some scenery.  That is usually for about an hour a day, but can be longer.  This sometimes turns into a hike or a bike, but I’m always getting out there and getting active.

Use the fitness you build for yourself!

Let’s do this.

Tom Cruise Workout and Diet

Actor Born: 1962

Thomas Cruise Mapother IV was deeply religious growing up and wanted to be a priest when he was a kid. His family moved around a lot and Cruise attended 15 schools in 14 years. He missed his high school graduation because he was in a show, and he moved to New York when he was 18 to pursue acting as a career.Cruise scored a small role in the 1981 film Endless Love and right from the start proved he had appeal. He went on to star in some of the highest-grossing films of the 1980s, including Top Gun, Rain Man and Born on the Fourth of July, but his biggest franchise to date is Mission Impossible which has earned over $3 billion worldwide . Cruise has been nominated for 3 Oscars and won 3 Golden Globes. He often performs his own stunts, and has sustained injuries as a result. Cruise has been on many lists: Sexiest/Best Dressed/Most Beautiful/Highest Paid/Top 100 Movie Stars to name just a few. He has married 3 actresses: Mimi Rogers (’87-’90), Nicole Kidman (’90-2001) and Katie Holmes (’06-’10).  Cruise has almost 12 million followers on Facebook alone. He is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 170 lbs.

Tom Cruise’s Diet

Diet Summary

Cruise follows a low-calorie diet which he picked up from his pal and pro soccer player David Beckham , and consumes no more than 1,200 calories per day. Very little of it comes from carbs. Instead he goes for vegetables and lean protein in the form of grilled chicken breast, fish, egg whites and whey protein. Fats come from healthy sources like nuts. He also makes a point to drink plenty of water, at least 6-8 glasses per day.

Diet Details

Discipline Rules

Unsurprisingly, Cruise is extremely disciplined about his diet. He eats clean and rarely cheats.

Micro Meals

Cruise doesn’t eat 3 or even 6 meals. He reportedly eats 15 micro meals a day, a plan that is certainly easier to follow with a personal chef who prepares them for him.

Fountain of Youth

Calorie restriction has long been known to increase longevity and avoiding carbs is probably one of the big reasons Cruise looks as ripped as he does. Constantly calling up insulin to deal with carbs causes us to age more rapidly.

Don’t Mess With His Cookies

On the rare occasion when Cruise does indulge, he wants the real deal. No one should ever offer him pre-packaged cookie dough.

What to Eat

What to Avoid

Refined carbs

Processed sugar, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, cruise on life.

‘I don’t care who you are. Life has challenges.’

Golden TraiCruise On Endings

‘Nothing ends nicely, that’s why it ends.’

Cruise On His Bartending Skills

‘Some skills are diminishing returns…sometimes I pick up a bottle, I surprise myself.’

Cruise On Mental Health

‘There is no such thing as a chemical imbalance.’ [Cruise later apologized for this remark.]

Tom Cruise adds simple and healthy foods to his diet and stays away from junk foods while keeping his carb intake very low. Cruise can do all his movie action stunts by himself thanks to his healthy nutrition plan.

Tom Cruise’s eating habits:

Tom Cruise is best known for strictly following his diet plan and rarely doing cheat meals.

Here are four of Tom Cruise’s eating habits that have helped the sixty-year-old Hollywood star not only look youthful but his body active and healthy as well.

Cruise  prefers eating foods that are cooked at low temperatures—primarily grilled. The Mission Impossible star doesn’t eat anything fried because it can cause chronic tissue inflammation and boost aging. Anti-inflammatory foods such as salmon, broccoli, tomatoes, spinach, olives, etc., are Cruise’s top priority.

Carbs are another factor that speeds up aging by creating insulin. Therefore, Cruise has sworn off carbs and enjoys a no-carb diet that helps him stay fit.

Tom Cruise is a healthy snacker, even on movie sets. His personal chef prepares tons of small snacks for Cruise to stay energized throughout his hectic schedule. Blueberries and nuts are some of Cruise’s most preferred snacks.

Sugar is a big no for this Hollywood superstar, mainly when he shoots for an upcoming movie. Although Cruise cannot enjoy sugar, he loves sending sugary delights to his co-stars!

Tom Cruise’s diet is restrictive, due to which he has limited the foods he can devour. Here are some of his best picks:

  • Preservatives
  • Artificial sweeteners
  • Refined carbs
  • Processed sugar

Since Tom Cruise is on a low-calorie diet, he has to use a number of additional supplements to make up for any deficiencies to build strong immunity.

Cruise relies on the following supplements:

  • Joint supplements
  • Whey protein
  • Multivitamins

The secret behind Tom Cruise’s perfectly chiseled body at 60 is a low-carb and clean diet, limited calorie intake, small meals, and adequate daily physical activity. Hence, if you want to stay fit like Tom Cruise even at 60, make sure to follow our breakdown of  Tom Cruise’s diet and exercise  mentioned above.
