The Dom Pedro Laguna Golf Course is quiteopenand is reminiscent of a parkland course. However, water hazards play a major part in the layouts and strategic bunkers penalise the wayward, demanding precise placing of both tee and fairway shots and accurate approaches to the greens.

Opened in the summer of 2000, the Millennium course offers a class championship layout. The first 9 holes wind through forests of umbrella pines, while the back 9areplayed in more open surroundings.

Opened in 1976, this is another Frank Pennink design. Meandering through rolling countryside with umbrellapine-linedfairways, it is more open than the Vilamoura Old Course. Smaller greens, however, maintain a requirement to play approach shots accurately.

The Dom Pedro Victoria golf course was designed and constructed by Arnold Palmer design. Host to the Portugal Masters since 2007, and to the PGA World Cup in 2005, Victoria is one not to be missed by any serious golfer visiting Vilamoura.

A Frank Pennink design,it'seasy to see why the Old Course is one of the most popular on the Algarve. Founded in 1969 and extensively renovated in 1996 its tighttree-linedfairways make it a great test of golf, and great accuracy is required from the tees.

18 Holes  Par 72  5862 Metres - A  round on Espiche is very reasonably priced, and ithe course is ideally located for golfers on a golfing holiday in the Western Algarve, being within easy driving distance of both Lagos and Alvor.

Opened in 1991, Alto Golf & Country Club was the last 18-hole course to be designed by Sir Henry Cotton. Built on ideal, undulating terrain, Alto has fine views of both the sea and the surrounding hills. The par-5 16th hole - the "Giant" - is reputed to be the longest hole in Europe.

Bordering the Rio Formosa Nature Reserve, Pinheiros Altos, is named after the pine trees which line most of its 27 holes. The course consists of threenine holeloops, each one with its own distinctive characteristics, and all three require accurate shot making.

Best Golf Destination Europe. The Quinta da Marinha Golf Course, in Cascais, has 18 holes with 5.870 meters of pure nature and big challenges. This par 71, designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, offers fantastic views over the Atlantic Ocean and the Sintra Mountains.

18 Holes - Par 72 - 6,700 yards - Located east of Faro, close to the popular resort Tavira, Quinta da Ria opened in 2001 and is now acknowledged as one of the finest courses on the Algarve. A great layout and stunning views of the Ria Formosa reserve, make this a must playcourse.

18 Holes - Par 72 - 6,950 yards - Opened in summer of 2002, this is the sister course to Quinta da Ria and is of equally good quality. A great test of golf and if anything, slightly the more difficult of the two.

Laranjal Golf Course is the newest of Quinta do Lago's three courses and complements the North and South courses beautifully.Originally an orange grove, Laranjal is now a superb 18 hole championship course and has quickly established itself as one of the Algarve's finest.

QuintadoPeru is set in the Azeito region between Sesimbra and Setubal and is a favourite with UK golfers. American architect Rocky Roquemore was responsible for the project and designed a course for amateur golfers. However, it also represents a challenge for professional players.

The San Lorenzo golf course is located in the beautiful Quinta do Lago estate, bordering the Ria Formosa Estuary and salt water lagoons. The course was designed by the American golf architect Joseph Lee and the beautiful Bermuda grass fairways provide perfect playing conditions.

Designed by renowned golf course architect Pepe Gancedo, the course follows the natural contours of the undulating countryside and features spectacular views from many of its holes. No two holes are alike on this course, and it offers an enjoyable challenge to golfers of all abilities.

Ranked as one of the top 100 courses in Europe. Santo da Serra is the oldest course in Madeira.

As the saying goes, 'a picture is worth a thousand words'. Well, the photographs of the Vale do Lobo course abovearetestamentto the truth of that saying. Some of the holes on this Rocky Roquemore designed course have to rank amongst the most stunningly scenic of any in Portugal.

Designed by Rocky Roquemore, the Vale do Lobo Royal golf course is slightly longer than the Ocean course, although every bit as enjoyable to play. The undulating fairways wind their way through pine trees, with plenty of water hazards and sand traps to negotiate along the way. 

The multi-award-winning Vidago Palace Golf Course was redesigned by the firm Cameron & Powell from an original designed by Mackenzie Ross built in 1936, has been transformed into a par 72 course.

Vilasol is one of the best-kept courses in the Algarve. A great layout, with pristine greens which runs true and tight testing holes requiring accurate shot making, Vila Sol golf course is a challenging but very rewarding and enjoyable test for every level of golfer.

Those looking to the Algarve should head to Albufeira if they want late night bars and nightclubs! This town is busy all year round and is popular with stag and hen parties. Vilamoura is popular with golfers although isn’t quite as wild as Albufeira whereas Lisbon offers what you would expect from any capital city – cool hipster bars to traditional bars to nightclubs. Cascais and Estoril have lively little pockets of activity but is seen as somewhere more relaxed.

Estela Golf, Porto
