Join Ashra and Merira Kwesi on their annual winter tour to Ethiopia. Ashra Kwesi is a historian (griot) and lecturer on ancient African history and religion. He brings a wealth of information based on 30 years of study and tour experience in the African Nile Valley.

Merira Kwesi is a lecturer on African history with a focus on 19th and 20th Century Ethiopia. She offers 19 years of documentation based on her research and tour experience in the African Nile Valley.

Brother and Sister Kwesi are the owners of Kemet Nu Productions and produce inspirational and educational videos on the African origins of civilization, religion and culture. They also conduct exciting, annual educational tours to Egypt. Brother and Sister Kwesi emphasize concepts and symbols from which the western world draws its society.

TOUR HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:

Addis Ababa – Visit the Museum of Natural History, which houses the remains of Dinknesh (Lucy), dating 3.5 million years.

Axum – Ethiopia’s most ancient city and part of one of most glorious empires of the past. See the tallest standing tekenu (obelisk) hewn from a single piece of granite.

Lalibela – Visit the rock-hewn monolithic churches built by King Lalibela in the late 12 th  or early 13 th  century that house Ethiopian Holy Books predating King James’ version of the Bible.

Gondar – Enjoy the Church of Debre Berhan Selassie that houses the rich decorations and murals of Ethiopian religious icons, when Africans created religious figures in their own image. Visit the Beta Israel Village of the Ethiopian Hebrews.

Bahar Dar – Take a boat ride on Tana, Ethiopia’s largest lake, view the majestic Tis Isat waterfalls.

Tiya - We will explore the UNESCO World Heritage Tiya Archaeological Site, composed of    36 monuments, including 32 carved stelae covered with ancient symbols.
