Fantastic Tour! Thought this was going to be a bit of a fluff tour... Just an excuse to eat and day drink. Delighted to be proved wrong. The tour was cleverly designed, and the guide was very knowledgeable about how food and wine amplify the culture. She also provided insight into the history of the district. It was a perfect capstone to my week in Paris.

The tour was my favorite part of my trip to Paris. Tris was our guide and so knowledgable with the wines, the cheese, the chocolate and the history. It was one of the best tours I have ever taken! You do a lot of walking and when we went at the top of Sept it was blazing hot (90f) But the meal was amazing as well as the wine, cheese everything…well worth it! My only issue is communications with the tour guy as a company. The directions say Blanche metro…but there are a few addresses with Blanche in the name and having not been here before I was unsure. We ended up putting in the name of a place to make sure to get to the Blanche metro—3 place Blanche after we found it was by the metro stop (google maps was not pulling it up as the station) there are several tours that are going on in the exit at the top that space. We ended up asking 4 other operators if they were our guide but then Tris came. The other guides had on vests, umbrellas etc so when their people came up from the subway they knew which one was theirs — this was very helpful. I emailed asking if what we had used as point of reference was the right one and was told that there were no tours in that area — so the corporate handlers need some updated communication. Again the tour was my FAVORITE thing in Paris. Tris was AMAZING! Do this tour —hopefully this helps you not feel lost.

A Must While in Paris

This is a new tour and we were on one of the first groups! This was a fantastic way to spend a few hours in Paris. Chef PJ is so charismatic and hilarious - he is not only entertaining but so informative. We learned so much from him, form how to shop for French ingredients to the history of the Montmarte area. HIs food and drink recommendations were spot on. He kept the wine flowing all day and served us incredible food. Highly highly recommend!

  • Last-Minute Cancellation: Generally does not provide a refund.

Remember to always check the specific terms when you book as they can vary slightly between different tours. Once home to the likes of Picasso, Van Gogh and Matisse, the dreamy, hilltop neighbourhood of Montmartre has earned its reputation as one of the most inspirational areas in Paris . Today it’s a popular tourist haunt and the most visited Parisian neighbourhood, but if you explore beyond the big landmarks and movie locations, you’ll find the original eateries and local hangouts that most tourists miss.

montmartre food coffee wine guide

The Ultimate Guide to Eating & Drinking in Montmartre – From a Local’s Perspective

Ah, Montmartre—my neighborhood, my love, and now, your go-to guide for the best places to eat, drink, and indulge. After living here for over 9 years (yes, I’m a proud local), I’ve curated a list of the most delicious, cozy, and downright delightful spots to satisfy any craving. Whether you’re looking for natural wine, a killer cup of coffee, or a pastry that’ll make you weak in the knees, I’ve got you covered.

paris food tour montmartre

Below is a sneak peek of my personal faves. But don’t worry, I’ll also include a full map later so you can find these gems without getting lost in Montmartre’s labyrinthine charm!

paris food tour montmartre

– Bachir – Pistachio ice cream so good, you’ll start planning your entire trip around it. Trust me.

– À la Mère de Famille – Chocolate lovers, this one’s for you. Grab something decadent, and thank me later.

– Pain Pain – Your go-to for sandwiches on the go, and the pastries? Just chef’s kiss.

– Temberly – Get your hands on their fruit meringue—it’s a little slice of heaven.

paris food tour montmartre

Because every Montmartre morning deserves a perfect coffee:

– Olas – My regular spot for artisanal coffee with a neighborhood vibe.

– Devotion – Coffee that’s as beautiful as it is delicious.

– Spree – A cute café meets boutique, perfect for coffee and people-watching.

– Two Doors – Tucked away and ideal for a quiet sip.

– The Beans on Fire – Perfect if you’re a purist; they roast their beans right here!

paris food tour montmartre

Whether it’s a cozy Wednesday lunch or a mid-week treat, these spots hit the mark:

– Brasserie Barbès – Trendy but casual, great for a long, leisurely lunch. Sit upstairs where you can see the metro pass overhead.

– Hardware Société – Aussie-inspired brunch in Paris? Yes, please!

– La Mascotte – A classic French bistro experience with some of the freshest seafood around. The seafood platter is heaven!

– Bouillon Pigalle – Family-friendly, affordable, and full of charm. Ideal for a crowd. This is our bi-weekly spot and now they have take away.

– Ma Biche – Simple yet delicious, and oh-so-Montmartre. Cozy and unpretentious food that’s always good.

– Etsi le Bistro – A Greek twist in Paris—unexpected and oh-so-good.

– Koyaka Kitchen – My go-to for African food takeout—hidden gem alert! It’s a tiny hole in the wall, but we love the fish and attiéké here.

paris food tour montmartre

Whether you’re celebrating, romancing, or just treating yourself:

– Le Moulin de la Galette – A quintessential Montmartre experience, with history in every bite. Renoir painted the famous “Le Bal” here.

– Marte – Low-key but sophisticated, perfect for date night. We had the best salted chocolate mousse desert here.

– Le Très Particulier – Nestled in a hidden garden, it’s like dining in a secret Parisian fairy tale.

– Le Bon et la Butte – A neighborhood favorite for sure. This is the place you want to keep going back to for the Confit Canard and traditional french flair.

– Fichon – Seafood lovers, rejoice!

paris food tour montmartre

For a cheeky drink (or two), these are my must-visits:

– Poney Club – Trendy yet unpretentious. Natural wine lovers, this is for us.

– Terrass Bar – Stunning rooftop views of Paris—‘nuff said.

– Bar à Bulles – Right next to Moulin Rouge, with quirky vibes and creative cocktails.

– Dirty Dick – Don’t let the name fool you—it’s fun, tiki-themed, and full of surprises.

– Le Mansart – After-work drinks, en terrasse, with all the local charm you can handle. Can be a bit noisey.

– Sister Midnight – Cozy, eclectic, and absolutely worth the visit.

– Classique – True to its name, a classic. (more so in Pigalle, but had to add to this list because it’s an easy walk!)

– Le Super Coin – Where the cool locals go for craft beers. Enough said.

paris food tour montmartre

You can’t come to Montmartre and not indulge in pastries. You just can’t.

– Pain Pain – Again, because it’s that good.

– Gilles Marchal – A master of buttery perfection. Grab some madeleines as gifts.

– Aux Merveilleux de Fred – Indulge in their cloud-like merveilleux pastries. Light and decadent.

– Les Petits Mitrons – A sweet little bakery known for their tarts. We pick up a whole one once a month.

– Le Grenier à Pain – Voted the best baguette in Paris once upon a time, and still worth every bite. Brads are great, but not many options for pastries.

– Mamiche – Okay, technically Pigalle, but close enough for a worthwhile detour.

paris food tour montmartre

For those nights you really want to treat yourself or impress someone special:

– L’Arpaon – Intimate, exquisite, and totally worth it.

 – Colchide – Flavors from Georgia, but right in Montmartre. A unique experience!

– Crème – For when you want dinner to feel more like an art experience.

– L’Arcane – Exceptional tasting menus that will blow your mind.

– Le Grand Salon – Inside the Hotel Particulier, it’s a feast for the senses, literally.

So, there you have it! My ultimate Montmartre guide. Whether you’re here for a quick bite, a leisurely coffee, or a celebratory dinner, these spots are bound to charm your tastebuds and show you a local view of this magical part of Paris. Keep an eye out for the full map in the next update—happy eating!
