Carlos was a world class guide. We saw 56 species, in which 42 are lifers for me! His bird calling skills, and knowledge of the terrain were instrumental to our success. Carlos shared the entire list with me via eBird and also shared all his photos. He actually helped me with my camera to get better photos. Above and beyond! We even stopped and had REAL tacos! His driver Miguel was wonderful. The whole experience was to notch.

Day 1: Arrival in Cancun Arrival at Cancun airport. Transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Cancun—Rey Del Caribe or similar (3 stars).

Day 2: Puerto Morelos Early bird watching at Central Vallarta and Cenote Road in Puerto Morelos. Afternoon enjoy beach in Puerto Morelos. Overnight in Arrecifes II or similar (3 stars).

Day 3: Rio Lagartos Early birding in Puerto Morelos area. Departure later to Rio Lagartos ( long drive )Bird watching at San Salvador Ranch, Rio Lagartos. Boat trip through the mangrove. Overnight in Tabasco Rio or similar.

Day 4: Ek Balam Early bird watching at Ek Balam. We will also visit the beautiful archeological site of Ek Balam and later refresh in the cool waters of a cenote nearby. Overnight in Cabañas Unajil or similar.

Day 5: Chichen Itza and Izamal Early bird watching at Chichen Itza. We will also visit the Chichen Itza site – one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. After that, we will continue to Izamal another beautiful Mayan ruin. Overnight in Itzamaltun or similar.

Day 6: Uxmal Early bird watching at Uxmal. Also enjoy the visit to the archeological site. Visit also Kabah site. Overnight in Uxmal Resort Maya or similar.

Day 7: Edzna Early bird watching in Uxmal area, follow later to the archeological site of Edzna, Campeche. Overnight in Chicanna Ecovillage Resort or similar.

Day 8: Calakmul – Palenque Early bird watching near Chicanna area and Calakmul reserve. Then long drive to Palenque. Overnight in La Aldea de Halach Huini or similar.

Day 9: San Cristobal Early bird watching in Palenque jungle. Visit the archeological site also. Follow later on a long drive to San Cristobal. Overnight in Hotel Casa Mexicana or similar.

Day 10: Sumidero canyon – Tuxtla Gutierrez City tour in San Cristobal, follow later for a great boat ride in Sumidero canyon. Later overnight in Tuxtla Gutierrez. Hotel Real Avenida or similar.
