The American Family Insurance Championship was created in 2016 by American Family Insurance, PGA TOUR Champions and PGA TOUR player and Wisconsin native Steve Stricker. Since its inception, the championship and associated events have raised over $17 million for the American Family Children’s Hospital and other charities.

The Foundation

Proceeds benefit the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation which supports hundreds of organizations and the American Family Children’s Hospital.

The AmFam Champ brings together 78 of the top PGA TOUR Champions players. The star-studded field of U.S. and international golf legends includes major champions, Hall-of-Famers, and past champions. The final field is set a week before the tournament.

TPC Wisconsin

The 2025 American Family Insurance Championship will be held at TPC Wisconsin in Madison, WI.  After opening August 1st, 2023, TPC Wisconsin offers a one-of-a-kind midwestern golf experience. Designed by Ryder Cup Captain Steve Stricker and PGA head of design Steve Wenzloff, it will be an instant classic and a sure bucket list golf experience.

2024 Highlights

Ernie Els wins the 2024 American Family Insurance Championship in a sudden death playoff with a score of -12 and a total of 204 over Steve Stricker who placed second.

2023 Highlights

Steve Stricker wins the 2023 American Family Insurance Championship with a score of -18 under par and total score of 198.  Steven Alker and Paul Broadhurst tied for second place with -13 under par.

2022 Highlights

Thongchai Jaidee wins the 2022 tournament with a -14 and total score of 202. Tom Pernice Jr placed second (-13) and Jerry Kelly, Miguel Angel Jimenez and Kirk Triplett tied for third (-12).

2021 Highlights

Jerry Kelly won the 2021 AmFam Champ shooting a -14 under par with a total score of 202.  Fred Couples and Miguel Angel Jimenez tied for second place at -13 under par.

2019 Highlights

Jerry Kelly wins the AmFam Champ in a sudden death playoff shooting a -15 and total score of 202 over Steve Stricker and Retief Goosen who tied for second place.

2018 Highlights

Scott McCarron won the 2018 AmFam Champ shooting -15 under par with a total score of 201.  Jerry Kelly placed second at -14 under par.

2017 Highlights

Fred Couples shot a -15 under par and total score of 201.  Scott Verplank (-13) placed second and Steve Stricker (-12) and Scott Verplank (-12) tied for third place.

2016 Highlights

Kirk Triplett won the inaugural AmFam Champ with a remarkable -17 under par and total score of 199.  Bart Bryant (-15) and Mike Goodes (-15) tied for second place.

2024 American Family Insurance Championship purse, winner’s share, PGA Tour Champions prize money payout

The 2024 American Family Insurance Championship purse is set for $2.4 million, with the winner's share coming in at $360,000 -- the standard 15 percent payout according to the PGA Tour Champions' prize money distribution chart .

The American Family Insurance Championship field is headed by Steve Stricker, Steve Alker, Bernhard Langer, Miguel Angel Jimenez, David Toms and more.

It's the 13th event on the 2024 PGA Tour Champions schedule , with 78 players taking on the Wisconsin host course. There is no cut.

This tournament is played at University Ridge Golf Club in Madison, Wisconsin.

The American Family Insurance Championship will be played over three days from Friday through Sunday.

What else is on the line: Charles Schwab Cup points, OWGR points, exemptions

Beyond money, there are important points, perks and benefits on the line for the field -- in particular, the tournament winner.

The money earned this week counts toward the Charles Schwab Cup points list. Each dollar earned translates into a regular season point to qualify for the Charles Schwab Cup playoffs in 2024.

At the season of the season in 2024, the top five players in the final standings are paid part of the $2.1 million bonus pool (all as annuities), based on the points standings.

The PGA Tour Champions does not offer Official World Golf Ranking points in its events.

Fans can visit the tournament website at www.amfamchampionship.com and select the Purchase Tickets button on the home page. Options include $25 general admission tickets valid any day of the championship, in addition to three-day general admission and clubhouse passes with special amenities.

Active duty, reserve and retired military personnel can enjoy a free three-day pass and any child 15 and under also gets free admission to the tournament with an adult admission.
