For dinner cruises, we recommend resort elegant or casual. Short pants and flip flops are not recommended.

• Chevron down Is the Star of Honolulu wheelchair accessible?

Yes. The Star of Honolulu ®  is Hawaii’s only ADA compliant ship with boarding ramps, 2 elevators to accommodate wheelchairs. Please advise your reservationist upon making reservations. However, transportation option is not available for guests in wheelchairs. The guests must provide their own transportation and check-in directly at the pier.

Our Sunset Dinner Cruise takes you along the Waikiki shore all the way to Diamond Head, known to Hawaiians as Lēʻahi , and provides breathtaking scenery all around. Enjoy a spectacular, freshly prepared dinner from the Prince Kuhio’s own onboard chef and served by our exceptional staff. As darkness descends, watch the lights of the Honolulu sky come alive with stars.

The Vida Mia offers sunset cruises every week from Thursday - Saturday.

We offer several different options to get out on the water.

Our cocktail cruise is a great option if you are looking for a light meal and wonderful craft cocktails. Perfect if you plan to go to dinner after.

Our Fireworks Cruise is our weekly favorite. We offer a full dinner menu, live entertainment complimentary cocktails and of course fireworks.

Public cruises can be bought out by private groups. For availability, please complete our inquiry form. ​

Please note that cruise times vary slightly by season to take advantage of the best lighting at sunset. Departure times are generally around 5:30 pm. Departure times will appear by date during check out.

Hawaii's finest chefs and musical talent are on board serving up an experience not to be missed. Enjoy a special dinner menu paired with live local music. If you are looking for something special, this is the night to cruise with us.

Cruise time is 90 minutes, followed by a half an hour after party at the dock where you will have an opportunity to talk story with our musicians and chefs. This cruise is a special event offered periodically throughout the year. Tickets book well in advance.

FIREWORKS CRUISE

End the week with a bang! Our lively fireworks cruise is a great way to end the week. Local music, dinner, oysters and fireworks. Star of Honolulu Dinner Cruise: Hawaii’s Only Luau at Sea

An evening dinner cruise on the  Star of Honolulu  is like three excursions in one. It’s a scenic boat tour along Oahu’s coastline, a delicious five-course meal, and a live Hawaiian luau show – all wrapped up in one easy, convenient package.

The  Star of Honolulu  dinner cruise sets sail from the heart of downtown Honolulu, conveniently located just four miles from Waikiki. The ship docks at Pier 8, right next to the  Aloha Tower , which makes it easy to find and access. The cruise operates seven nights a week, year-round.

The Star of Honolulu Cruise Route

The  Star of Honolulu  is Hawaii’s largest dinner cruise. The ship is four stories tall with walk-around decks on every level. There is also an observation deck that is 60 feet high and provides 360-degree views. The ship’s size and design make it the most stable and smooth sailing tour vessel in the area. The cruise route starts in Honolulu and travels east along the coastline. You’ll cruise past the beaches of Waikiki to  Diamond Head Crater.  

Passengers can enjoy both the views of Honolulu Harbor and the Oahu coastline at sunset. And then later you’ll see the bright lights of the city skyline as the ship returns to port.

On Fridays, the ship stays out an extra hour to watch the weekly Waikiki fireworks display from the water.

Pre-Dinner Activities

Star of Honolulu passengers are treated to a pier side hula show as they make their way onto the ship. The cruise begins with a champagne toast and live Hawaiian music. Later in the evening, there is a hula lesson for any passengers who want to dance along.

Deluxe Five-course Dinner

The five-course meal begins with a cheese and tropical fruit plate. Next, a salad course consisting of locally grown salad greens with a house made dressing. Then a seafood course which features a whole Maine lobster served in the shell. Afterwards, the main course arrives, a Tenderloin steak served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Finally, a delicate mango mousse cake served for dessert alongside freshly brewed Kona coffee. This is a full-service dining experience, and you will be served at your table.

This deluxe dining package also includes two premium drinks. The  Star  bar offers several frozen tropical drinks and specialty cocktails, as well as a limited variety of beer, wine, and spirits.

E ntertainment on the Star of Honolulu Dinner Cruise

For the evening’s main entertainment, the  Star’s  cast of performers will present “65 years of Aloha” which is a tribute to the sixty-five years that the dinner cruise has been in operation. This is an original luau show, complete with music, costumes, and choreography, all performed right in your dining cabin.

Although there are no fire-knife dancers or imu demonstrations on the  Star , this dinner cruise has a lot to offer that Luau just cannot provide. The views are spectacular and ever-changing. The quality of service and food are top-notch, yet the atmosphere remains casual, fun, and laid back. The entertainment is live, up close, and personal. And you just cannot beat the specialness of being on a boat, can you?

Not only will you have a private window table and one souvenir photo per couple, but this package also includes a 6-inch Lei cake and a bottle of sparkling wine.

Getting There

The easiest and most convenient way to get to the Star of Honolulu dinner cruise is to use their shuttle bus . They will pick you up right at your hotel, plus you will not have to worry about parking, missing the boat, or having too many Mai-tais.

Taxis and rideshares are also a good option. Prices will vary with demand, but an Uber or Lyft will cost you about $15-$25 each way. Public transportation is another option but be aware that the nearest bus stop will require an additional 10 to 15-minute walk to get to the ship.

Whichever method of transportation you choose, be sure to leave a bit early just in case you experience any delays, the boat will not wait for you if you are late.

Parking Near the Star of Honolulu Pier

If you would prefer to drive yourself to the harbor the closest public parking lots are located near Piers 5 and 6. Parking currently costs $6 per hour, and you will need three hours at the very minimum.

Only one cruise line offers Hawaii itineraries throughout the year; most others visit during specific months or when repositioning ships in spring and fall.

Norwegian Cruise Line's 7-night Inter-island Hawaii

For travelers who want more aloha time than the typical eight-hour port call allows, Norwegian Cruise Line has a solution. Its 2,186-passenger Pride of America lets vacationers sample four Hawaiian Islands over seven days, with overnights at Maui and Kauai, plus port calls on both Hilo and Kona on the Big Island. In total, this itinerary offers nearly 100 hours of shore time.

Pride of America sails round-trip from Honolulu every Saturday year-round. As a U.S.-flagged ship, it's the only large vessel permitted to sail this way. Not only do you skip the long Pacific crossing that most cruise ships do to reach Hawaii, but passports are not required for U.S. citizens, and you can tack on pre- or post-cruise stays on Oahu.
