Do I need a visa to go to the Bahamas?

Sunshine, sandy beaches and some 700 tropical islands make the Bahamas one of the most sought-after retreats in the Caribbean.

This haven for North American tourists is relatively easy to access for US and Canadian citizens; however, some rules do apply. It's important to note that requirements vary depending on citizenship and residency, so travelers born in one country and residents of another (aside from the US and Canada) should be prepared to provide documentation based on their country of birth.

What do you need to know about visas in the Bahamas?

Most travelers carrying valid US or Canadian passports should have no trouble clearing customs in the Bahamas, as long as it's well within its expiration date and has multiple blank pages. Likewise, visitors from Latin America should be presented with few issues at the border. Still, these guidelines will help you earn that coveted Bahamian passport stamp and avoid any potential obstacles at your port of entry.

Who can travel to the Bahamas without a visa?

US citizens visiting for 90 days or less do not need a visa to enter the Bahamas and Canadian citizens who plan to stay less than eight months do not need a visa either. Both sets of citizens must provide proof of their anticipated date of departure, such as a return ticket, and Canadian citizens' passports must be valid for at least three months after their departure date; that rises to six months for Canadian citizens that are traveling home via another country. US passports must have two blank pages for the entry stamp.

Permanent US residents who are not American citizens can travel to the Bahamas without a visa if they plan to stay less than 30 days, though a green card and a valid national passport are both required. For visits longer than 30 days, a visa and a valid national passport are both required.

Top 5 road trips in the Bahamas

Canadian permanent residents may stay in the Bahamas for 30 days without a visa; however, they must bring a valid passport that expires no less than three months after their last day in the country (as with Canadian citizens, this rises to six months if you're traveling back to Canada via another country), and an original Canadian Permanent Resident card. If traveling directly from Canada, that card must expire no less than three months after their last day in the country; if traveling via another country, it must expire no less than six months after. A return ticket is also required.

Citizens of Latin America are not required to carry a Bahamas visa if their stay is less than three months. They are required to have a return or onward-journey ticket, proof of lodging confirmation and, if requested, proof of sufficient funds for the visit.

Indian nationals with a visa issued by Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States or a Schengen Member State are not required to carry a Bahamas visa and may stay for a maximum of 90 days in the country. Visas are also waived for Indian nationals permanently residing in the US, the UK, or a Schengen Member State for stays of up to 30 or 90 days in the Bahamas, depending on the issuing country.

Who needs a visa to visit the Bahamas?

The Bahamas requires a visa for residents of 77 countries , including Egypt, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Indonesia, Iran, Pakistan, Laos, the Philippines, India, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Taiwan, Ukraine, UAE and Vietnam.

A single-entry visa to the Bahamas costs US$100, and multiple-entry visas start at US$110. Single-entry visas with biometric data cost $160, and multiple-entry visas with biometrics start at $250. Forms must be completed in block letters and submitted with supporting documents including a valid passport.

Requirements may also include a police report, flight itinerary, copies of previously held visas and foreign marriage and birth certificates. It is recommended that applicants contact the Bahamas Consulate Division before applying.

The turnaround time on visas can be up to two weeks if you apply via a Bahamian Consulate or Embassy; those applying via a British Embassy should allow at least four weeks for their visa to be processed.

Can I extend my stay in the Bahamas?

If you've been in the Bahamas for the maximum time allowed without a visa, you can request an extension of your stay online. First, apply for a visa with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , then submit your application to the Bahamas Department of Immigration.

Looking for a longer-term situation? No one could blame you for being reluctant to come home from these beautiful islands! The Bahamas Extended Access Travel Stay program allows travelers to work or study remotely for up to one year. Permits start at $1000 for individual professionals and $500 for students, plus a $25 application fee. No additional travel permits are required for citizens of Canada, the EU, Britain and the USA.

What else should I look out for?

Check whether you need a yellow fever vaccination certificate before traveling. Visitors aged one and up must carry a yellow-fever vaccination certificate if arriving from a nation with a risk of yellow-fever transmission. These are mostly nations in Latin America and Africa. Visitors who have transited for more than 12 hours through an airport in a nation with risk of yellow-fever transmission must also carry a vaccination certificate valid for at least 10 days before entering the Bahamas.

The requirement for COVID-19 testing before entering the Bahamas has been removed since September 2022, regardless of vaccination status. This also applies to inter-island travel.

My H1B I-94 is valid through 2022, but the visa stamp in my passport has expired. I am taking a round-trip, 3-day cruise to the Bahamas. Do I need a visa for this?

Yes, ordinarily, a valid H1B visa “stamp” would be required, even for a brief trip abroad such as this.

Note that there are some exceptions to his general rule. For instance, if certain conditions are met, an H1B worker may travel to Canada or Mexico for up to 30 days, and then return based on the automatic visa revalidation rule. However, automatic visa revalidation does not apply to H1B workers who travel to the Bahamas. See the MurthyDotCom article, Contiguous Territory Rule Permits Reentry from Canada or Mexico (26.Mar.2018) for more details on this rule. (11.Dec.2019)

Introduction:

The Bahamas is a popular destination for tourists seeking beautiful beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant culture. However, for H1B visa holders in the United States, it's crucial to understand the travel regulations and requirements before planning a trip to the Bahamas. In this article, we will explore whether H1B visa holders are eligible to travel to the Bahamas and discuss the necessary steps to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey.

Scientific Approach:

The eligibility of H1B visa holders to travel to the Bahamas depends on the legal and diplomatic agreements between the two countries. The Bahamian government, under its immigration rules, has provisions for various types of visas and entry permits. It is paramount to determine whether H1B visa holders fall under these categories and if additional permissions are required.

Experience Approach:

Based on the experiences shared by H1B visa holders, they generally face no issues while traveling to the Bahamas. Many H1B visa holders have taken vacations or short trips to the Bahamas without any significant hurdles. However, it is essential to keep in mind that every traveler's situation may differ, and it is always advisable to check with the Bahamian embassy or consulate for the latest travel requirements and regulations.

Step-by-Step Guide:

To ensure a smooth journey for H1B visa holders planning to visit the Bahamas, here is a step-by-step guide:

  • Check your passport: Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond the intended departure date. If needed, apply for passport renewal well in advance.
  • Research Bahamian immigration rules: Visit the official website of the Bahamian immigration department and familiarize yourself with the specific visa requirements and entry permits.
  • Consult the Bahamian embassy or consulate: Contact the nearest Bahamian embassy or consulate in your country to inquire about the latest travel regulations for H1B visa holders.
  • Apply for a visa if required: If H1B visa holders are not exempt from the Bahamian visa requirement, they should gather all the necessary documents and submit their visa application ahead of time.
  • Provide necessary documents: At the time of travel, carry all essential documents, including a valid passport, visa (if required), return ticket, proof of accommodation, and proof of sufficient funds for the duration of your stay.
  • Keep H1B visa papers handy: It is advisable to carry your H1B visa approval notice and other relevant documents to present to immigration officers if needed.
  • Follow travel advisories: Stay updated on any travel advisories or warnings issued by the respective governments to ensure a safe and secure trip.

Example 1: John, an H1B visa holder, planned a vacation to the Bahamas. He checked the Bahamian immigration department's website, which stated that H1B visa holders were exempt from obtaining a visa for tourism purposes. John had a great time exploring the Bahamas without any immigration issues.

Example 2: Lisa, another H1B visa holder, contacted the Bahamian consulate to inquire about the travel rules for H1B visa holders. She found out that while H1B visa holders were generally allowed to visit the Bahamas, they needed to apply for a visa before travel. Lisa submitted her visa application, and after receiving the visa, she had a memorable vacation in the Bahamas.

H1B visa holders are generally eligible to travel to the Bahamas for tourism purposes, provided they meet the necessary requirements and obtain the required visa if applicable. It is crucial to stay informed about the current travel regulations, consult with the Bahamian embassy or consulate, and carry all the required documents for a smooth and hassle-free trip. Bon voyage!

If you are an H1B visa holder planning to travel to the Bahamas, it is important to be aware of any additional requirements or restrictions that may apply to your situation. While the Bahamas is a popular travel destination for many, there are certain rules and regulations that need to be followed when traveling on an H1B visa.

One of the first things you'll need to do is ensure that your H1B visa is valid and has not expired. This is crucial as you will need a valid visa to enter the Bahamas. It's also a good idea to carry a copy of your H1B approval notice and any other supporting documents, such as a copy of your employment contract or letter of invitation from a business partner in the Bahamas. These documents can help prove your purpose of travel and ensure a smooth entry into the country.

In addition to having a valid H1B visa, you will also need a valid passport. Make sure your passport is not expired and has at least six months of validity remaining from the date of entry into the Bahamas. If your passport is close to expiring, it's a good idea to renew it before your trip.

Another requirement for H1B visa holders traveling to the Bahamas is to have a return or onward ticket. This means that you will need to show proof of your intention to leave the Bahamas at the end of your visit. It could be a return ticket to your home country or a ticket to another destination, as long as it is outside of the Bahamas. This requirement is in place to ensure that visitors do not overstay their welcome and comply with the conditions of their visa.

While there are no specific vaccination requirements for travelers coming from the United States, it is always recommended to check the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website or consult with your healthcare provider to ensure you are up-to-date on routine vaccines and any specific vaccinations recommended for the Bahamas. This is particularly important amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, as travel restrictions and health protocols may be in place.

When it comes to restrictions, it's important to note that as an H1B visa holder, your primary purpose of travel to the Bahamas should be for business-related activities. While you can certainly enjoy some leisure time during your visit, it's advisable not to engage in any employment or work activities that are not related to your H1B visa. If you plan on conducting any business-related activities during your trip, it's a good idea to have a clear itinerary and supporting documents to demonstrate your purpose of travel.

It's also worth mentioning that the Bahamas has its own immigration laws and regulations, and it's important to comply with them during your stay. This includes respecting the local customs and traditions, as well as obeying any local laws and regulations.

In conclusion, as an H1B visa holder traveling to the Bahamas, you'll need to ensure that your visa is valid, carry all necessary supporting documents, have a valid passport with sufficient validity, and show proof of return or onward travel. It's important to remember that your primary purpose of travel should be for business-related activities, and to comply with all relevant immigration laws, customs, and regulations during your stay. By being prepared and informed, you can have an enjoyable and hassle-free trip to the Bahamas.

If you are traveling to the Bahamas on an H1B visa, there are a few important documents that you will need to have in order to enter the country. It's crucial to make sure you have all the necessary paperwork to ensure a smooth and hassle-free travel experience. In this article, we will discuss what documents you need to travel to the Bahamas on an H1B visa, and why they are important.

  • Valid Passport: The first and most important document you will need is a valid passport. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the Bahamas. Make sure to check the expiration date of your passport well in advance and renew it if necessary.
  • H1B Visa: As an H1B visa holder, you will need to have your valid H1B visa stamped on your passport. This visa allows you to work in the United States, but it does not automatically grant you entry into the Bahamas. Make sure your visa is valid for the entire duration of your stay in the Bahamas.
  • Confirmation of Employment: You will also need to provide proof of your employment in the United States. This can be in the form of a letter from your employer stating your job title, salary, and the duration of your employment. The letter should also mention that you will be traveling to the Bahamas for a specific period and for business purposes.
  • Return Ticket: The Bahamas immigration authorities may require you to present a return ticket or proof of onward travel. This is to ensure that you have a planned departure from the country and are not planning to overstay your visa.
  • Accommodation Details: It is advisable to have documentation of your accommodation arrangements in the Bahamas. This can be a hotel reservation, a letter of invitation from a friend or family member living in the Bahamas, or proof of a rental property. Having these documents will help establish your purpose of visit and provide evidence of where you will be staying during your time in the Bahamas.
  • Travel Itinerary: It is a good idea to have a copy of your travel itinerary, which includes details of your flights, hotel bookings, and any other travel arrangements you have made for your trip to the Bahamas. This document can serve as additional proof of your intentions and help immigration officers understand your travel plans.
  • Proof of Sufficient Funds: To enter the Bahamas, you may be asked to show proof of sufficient funds to cover your stay. This can be in the form of bank statements, credit card statements, or traveler's checks. Make sure you have enough funds available for your trip and have the necessary documents to prove it if requested.

It is important to note that the list of required documents may vary depending on your specific circumstances and the immigration policies of the Bahamas at the time of your travel. It is always a good idea to double-check the requirements with the nearest Bahamian embassy or consulate before your trip.

In conclusion, when traveling to the Bahamas on an H1B visa, it is essential to have a valid passport, H1B visa, confirmation of employment, return ticket, accommodation details, travel itinerary, and proof of sufficient funds. These documents will help facilitate your entry into the country and ensure a smooth travel experience. Remember to check the specific requirements and guidelines set by the Bahamas immigration authorities before your trip.

Visa Bulletin For October 2024

A. STATUTORY NUMBERS FOR PREFERENCE IMMIGRANT VISAS

This bulletin summarizes the availability of immigrant numbers during October  for: “Final Action Dates” and “Dates for Filing Applications,” indicating when immigrant visa applicants should be notified to assemble and submit required documentation to the National Visa Center.

Unless otherwise indicated on the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website at  www.uscis.gov/visabulletininfo , individuals seeking to file applications for adjustment of status with USCIS must use the “Final Action Dates” charts below for determining when they can file such applications. When USCIS determines that there are more immigrant visas available for the fiscal year than there are known applicants for such visas, USCIS will state on its website that applicants may instead use the “Dates for Filing Visa Applications” charts in this Bulletin.

1.  Procedures for determining dates. Consular officers are required to report to the Department of State documentarily qualified applicants for numerically limited visas; USCIS reports applicants for adjustment of status. Allocations in the charts below were made, to the extent possible, in chronological order of reported priority dates, for demand received by September 3rd . If not all demand could be satisfied, the category or foreign state in which demand was excessive was deemed oversubscribed. The final action date for an oversubscribed category is the priority date of the first applicant who could not be reached within the numerical limits. If it becomes necessary during the monthly allocation process to retrogress a final action date, supplemental requests for numbers will be honored only if the priority date falls within the new final action date announced in this bulletin. If at any time an annual limit were reached, it would be necessary to immediately make the preference category “unavailable”, and no further requests for numbers would be honored.

2.  The fiscal year 2025 limit for family-sponsored preference immigrants determined in accordance with Section 201 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) is 226,000.  The worldwide level for annual employment-based preference immigrants is at least 140,000.  Section 202 prescribes that the per-country limit for preference immigrants is set at 7% of the total annual family-sponsored and employment-based preference limits, i.e., 25,620.  The dependent area limit is set at 2%, or 7,320.

3.  INA Section 203(e) provides that family-sponsored and employment-based preference visas be issued to eligible immigrants in the order in which a petition in behalf of each has been filed. Section 203(d) provides that spouses and children of preference immigrants are entitled to the same status, and the same order of consideration, if accompanying or following to join the principal. The visa prorating provisions of Section 202(e) apply to allocations for a foreign state or dependent area when visa issuances will exceed the per-country limit. These provisions apply at present to the following oversubscribed chargeability areas:  CHINA-mainland born, INDIA, MEXICO, and PHILIPPINES.

4.  Section 203(a) of the INA prescribes preference classes for allotment of Family-sponsored immigrant visas as follows:

FAMILY-SPONSORED PREFERENCES

First : ( F1 ) Unmarried Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens:  23,400 plus any numbers not required for fourth preference.

Second : Spouses and Children, and Unmarried Sons and Daughters of Permanent Residents:  114,200, plus the number (if any) by which the worldwide family preference level exceeds 226,000, plus any unused first preference numbers:

A. ( F2A ) Spouses and Children of Permanent Residents:  77% of the overall second preference limitation, of which 75% are exempt from the per-country limit;

B. ( F2B ) Unmarried Sons and Daughters (21 years of age or older) of Permanent Residents:  23% of the overall second preference limitation.

Third : ( F3 ) Married Sons and Daughters of U.S. Citizens:  23,400, plus any numbers not required by first and second preferences.

Fourth : ( F4 ) Brothers and Sisters of Adult U.S. Citizens:  65,000, plus any numbers not required by first three preferences.

A.   FINAL ACTION DATES FOR FAMILY-SPONSORED PREFERENCE CASES

On the chart below, the listing of a date for any class indicates that the class is oversubscribed (see paragraph 1); "C" means current, i.e., numbers are authorized for issuance to all qualified applicants; and "U" means unauthorized, i.e., numbers are not authorized for issuance. (NOTE: Numbers are authorized for issuance only for applicants whose priority date is earlier than the final action date listed below.)

For October, F2A numbers  EXEMPT from per-country limit  are authorized for issuance to applicants from all countries with priority dates  earlier  than 08MAR21. F2A numbers  SUBJECT to per-country limit  are authorized for issuance to applicants chargeable to all countries EXCEPT MEXICO , with priority dates beginning 08MAR21 and earlier than 22NOV21. All F2A numbers provided for MEXICO are exempt from the per-country limit.

B.  DATES FOR FILING FAMILY-SPONSORED VISA APPLICATIONS

The chart below reflects dates for filing visa applications within a timeframe justifying immediate action in the application process. Applicants for immigrant visas who have a priority date earlier than the application date in the chart below may assemble and submit required documents to the Department of State’s National Visa Center, following receipt of notification from the National Visa Center containing detailed instructions. The application date for an oversubscribed category is the priority date of the first applicant who cannot submit documentation to the National Visa Center for an immigrant visa. If a category is designated “current,” all applicants in the relevant category may file applications, regardless of priority date.

The “C” listing indicates that the category is current, and that applications may be filed regardless of the applicant’s priority date. The listing of a date for any category indicates that only applicants with a priority date which is earlier than the listed date may file their application.

Visit www.uscis.gov/visabulletininfo for information on whether USCIS has determined that this chart can be used (in lieu of the chart in paragraph 4.A.) this month for filing applications for adjustment of status with USCIS.

5.  Section 203(b) of the INA prescribes preference classes for allotment of Employment-based immigrant visas as follows:

EMPLOYMENT-BASED PREFERENCES

First :  Priority Workers:  28.6% of the worldwide employment-based preference level, plus any numbers not required for fourth and fifth preferences.

Second :  Members of the Professions Holding Advanced Degrees or Persons of Exceptional Ability:  28.6% of the worldwide employment-based preference level, plus any numbers not required by first preference.

Third :  Skilled Workers, Professionals, and Other Workers:  28.6% of the worldwide level, plus any numbers not required by first and second preferences, not more than 10,000 of which to "*Other Workers".

Fourth :  Certain Special Immigrants:  7.1% of the worldwide level.

Fifth :  Employment Creation:  7.1% of the worldwide level, of which 32% are reserved as follows: 20% reserved for qualified immigrants who invest in a rural area; 10% reserved for qualified immigrants who invest in a high unemployment area; and 2% reserved for qualified immigrants who invest in infrastructure projects. The remaining 68% are unreserved and are allotted for all other qualified immigrants.

A.  FINAL ACTION DATES FOR EMPLOYMENT-BASED PREFERENCE CASES

*Employment Third Preference Other Workers Category: Section 203(e) of the Nicaraguan and Central American Relief Act (NACARA) passed by Congress in November 1997, as amended by Section 1(e) of Pub. L. 105-139, provides that once the Employment Third Preference Other Worker (EW) cut-off date has reached the priority date of the latest EW petition approved prior to November 19, 1997, the 10,000 EW numbers available for a fiscal year are to be reduced by up to 5,000 annually beginning in the following fiscal year. This reduction is to be made for as long as necessary to offset adjustments under the NACARA program. Since the EW final action date reached November 19, 1997 during Fiscal Year 2001, the reduction in the EW annual limit to 5,000 began in Fiscal Year 2002. For Fiscal Year 2025 this reduction will be limited to approximately 150.

B.  DATES FOR FILING OF EMPLOYMENT-BASED VISA APPLICATIONS

The chart below reflects dates for filing visa applications within a timeframe justifying immediate action in the application process. Applicants for immigrant visas who have a priority date earlier than the application date in the chart may assemble and submit required documents to the Department of State’s National Visa Center, following receipt of notification from the National Visa Center containing detailed instructions. The application date for an oversubscribed category is the priority date of the first applicant who cannot submit documentation to the National Visa Center for an immigrant visa. If a category is designated “current,” all applicants in the relevant category may file, regardless of priority date.

Visit www.uscis.gov/visabulletininfo for information on whether USCIS has determined that this chart can be used (in lieu of the chart in paragraph 5.A.) this month for filing applications for adjustment of status with USCIS.

B .   DIVERSITY IMMIGRANT (DV) CATEGORY FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER

Section 203(c) of the INA provides up to 55,000 immigrant visas each fiscal year to permit additional immigration opportunities for persons from countries with low admissions during the previous five years.  The NACARA stipulates that beginning with DV-99, and for as long as necessary, up to 5,000 of the 55,000 annually allocated diversity visas will be made available for use under the NACARA program. Visa numbers made available to NACARA applicants in FY 2024 will result in reduction of the DV-2025 annual limit to approximately 54,850.  Section 5104 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024 amended the NACARA’s provisions on the DV program such that the number of visas made available under the NDAA each fiscal year will be deducted from the 55,000 DVs annually allocated.  These amendments will further reduce the DV-2025 annual limit to approximately 51,350.  DVs are divided among six geographic regions. No one country can receive more than seven percent of the available diversity visas in any one year.

For October , immigrant numbers in the DV category are available to qualified DV-2025 applicants chargeable to all regions/eligible countries as follows. When an allocation cut-off number is shown, visas are available only for applicants with DV regional lottery rank numbers  BELOW  the specified allocation cut-off number:

Entitlement to immigrant status in the DV category lasts only through the end of the fiscal (visa) year for which the applicant is selected in the lottery. The year of entitlement for all applicants registered for the DV-2025 program ends as of September 30, 2025. DV visas may not be issued to DV-2025 applicants after that date. Similarly, spouses and children accompanying or following to join DV-2025 principals are only entitled to derivative DV status until September 30, 2025. DV visa availability through the very end of FY-2025 cannot be taken for granted. Numbers could be exhausted prior to September 30.

C.   THE DIVERSITY IMMIGRANT (DV) CATEGORY RANK CUT-OFFS WHICH WILL APPLY IN NOVEMBER

For November , immigrant numbers in the DV category are available to qualified DV-2025 applicants chargeable to all regions/eligible countries as follows. When an allocation cut-off number is shown, visas are available only for applicants with DV regional lottery rank numbers  BELOW  the specified allocation cut-off number:

D.   SCHEDULED EXPIRATION OF THE EMPLOYMENT FOURTH PREFERENCE RELIGIOUS WORKERS (SR) CATEGORY

H.R. 2882, signed on March 23, 2024, extended the Employment Fourth Preference Certain Religious Workers (SR) category until September 30, 2024.  No SR visas may be issued overseas, or final action taken on adjustment of status cases, after midnight September 29, 2024.  Visas issued prior to that date will be valid only until September 29, 2024, and all individuals seeking admission in the non-minister special immigrant category must be admitted (repeat admitted) into the United States no later than midnight September 29, 2024.

The SR category is listed as “Unavailable” for all countries for October.  In the event there is legislative action extending the category, it is likely it will become available effective immediately. If extended, the category will be subject to the same final action dates as the other Employment Fourth Preference categories per applicable foreign state of chargeability.

E.   U.S. GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE SPECIAL IMMIGRANT VISAS (SIVs)

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024, signed into law on December 22, 2023, may affect certain current and former employees of the U.S. Government abroad applying for SIVs or adjustment of status, as described in section 101(a)(27)(D) of the INA.  This does not affect certain Iraqis and Afghans applying for SQ and SI SIVs.  Applicants should contact the consular section at which they filed their Form DS‑1884 for further information on the impact of that law on their case.

Traveling on cruise while on h1b.

Posted By: Admin September 12, 2012

You’ve been hard at work all year, and its time for your well-deserved holiday. You are a H1B holder, and you want to go on a cruise to an exotic destination, or probably just take a trip home to wind down for a week.

Well, first things first. You need to know that you, as a H1B holder permitted to work in the U.S do not enjoy the ‘visa-on-arrival’ privileges that many countries offer citizens of the United States. You will have to abide by whatever Visa requirements the destination country you want to head to, imposes on people of your home country. Some tourist destinations, like Jamaica do not have any Visa requirements to enter as a tourist. However, most nations still do deem that you acquire a valid tourist visa to visit the country.

Choice of Cruise Destinations

Lets take a look at some of the popular cruise destinations that you can visit in and around America.

The Caribbean

There is no better way to unwind than a cruise to the tropical paradise that is the Caribbean. Treat yourself to the sandy beaches and exotic food that the Caribbean is famous for. These are a group of small island nations that are collectively known as the Caribbean islands or West Indies. The choicest destinations among these are Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados, Antigua, Guyana and Grenada.

Highlights:

  • Picturesque tropical beaches
  • Snorkeling or scuba diving in the Belize barrier reef
  • Go swimming with the sea turtles in Barbados
  • Visit the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza
  • Several cruise liners available from Baltimore, New York, Southampton and Miami
  • Some Caribbean nations such as Jamaica and Grenada waive visa requirements for tourist’s altogether, but this varies from one Caribbean nation to the next. Most Caribbean nations also waive visa requirements for many countries’ nationals, but make sure that you check your travel advisor regarding whether you qualify for this waiver.

A warm sultry weather and sandy beaches that stretch for as long as you can see and beautiful blue shorelines greet your eyes as soon as you touch down at the Bahamas. The nation consists of a large number of small islands that offer picturesque retreats from the bustle of everyday life.

  • Several cruise liners operate from Miami, Galveston
  • Go snorkeling with dolphins and tropical fish in clear blue waters
  • Experience the history of a nation that was once a pirate haven
  • Popular attractions: Arawak Cay and Potter’s Day Cock
  • Schedule your trip during the Junkanoo festival to join in the exuberant festivities
  • Special tourist visa process available for H1 visa holders working in the U.S. Go to this link for details.

Bermuda is one of the most popular tourist cruise destinations, known for its pink sandy beaches, sunny weather and beautiful colonial architecture.

  • Cruise liners operate from Boston, Philadelphia, New York, Cape Liberty (NJ), Baltimore, Norfolk, Fort Lauderdale and Charleston
  • 34 beautiful beaches to visit
  • Go scuba diving around the spectacular underwater coral reefs
  • No tourist visa required for a stay of up to 90 days

If you are not in the mood for sun and sand, travel instead to Alaska, Land of the Midnight Sun, with breathtaking landscapes and wildlife.

  • Cruise liners available from Seattle and San Francisco
  • Take a hike in through glacial waterfalls outside Juneau
  • Experience breathtaking views of the Juneau Ice Fields from aboard a helicopter
  • Spot wildlife from aboard a high speed catamaran
  • No visa requirements (it is one of the 50 states of the U.S!) if the cruise is not stopping in Canada or any other countries. You need canadian visa if  the cruise stops on Canada. You need to contact the Cruise Authorities before you take the tickets.

I have an travel plan to cruise to Bermuda. I want to know if I would need Bermuda visa? I have an Indian Passport with valid H1b visa stamped on it. My current passport is getting expired in Sep2016, but my H1b visa stamp and I-94 are valid until Oct 2017. I also have new new Indian passport valid until July2026. I want to know whether with my 2 passport, am I eligible to travel? Or I would need to get an visa of either (USA or Bermuda) country?
