5 star tripadvisor reviews!
"Everyone including the dog had a fantastic time. Great day out canoeing from Bridgnorth to Bewdley with our adult family making a group of 3 couples. Monty was friendly and helpful with a good sense of humour. Would highly recommend."
"Superb helpful self-guided canoe rental on the Severn. Return trip on heritage railway makes a full day out! Will be back for another trip next season."
"What an amazing day out. If you have never canoed before try it. We did Bridgnorth to Bewdley and the wildlife you see along the way is amazing. We were looked after from start to finish. We will be back tom do this doing this again. Highly recommend it."
"We had a great experience canoeing on the river, despite the weather. The booking was easy and we received reminder emails with all the details we needed. Clear and humorous instructions from Monty which our daughters enjoyed. We took the Hampton Loade to Arley route with two children (7 and 11) and found it manageable in under 2 hours. Would highly recommend."
"We did the Hampton Loade to Arley trip. The safety talk given by Monty was great as we hadn't been canoeing for years! Felt safe in the boat with the life jacket on and I was surprised at how easy it was to manoeuvre. This was a gift for my husband's birthday and we absolutely loved it. Will definitely do a longer trip next time and stop off at a pub."
"Lovely day out on the river, we chose the Hampton Loade to Bewdley route, around 3 hours on the water with a 40 minute refreshment stop at Arley. Felt safe in the boat, once I had got the gang of steering! Saw kingfishers and Herons along the way, my boys 12 really enjoyed and would definitely recommend and do again ourselves."

Top-rated with 5-star reviews
Really friendly helpful people and a nice day out on the river. Lovely chilled out route from Montford bridge with very few other people on the river, even on a very busy and hot summers day in Shrewsbury. Couldn't have asked for more from a canoe hire company really.
A great day out with friends. Good information & instructions given before we left Montford Bridge, new safety equipment provided, and kayaks were clean. When we arrived at Frankwell, Kieran was waiting for us. This is the second time we have been with these guys are they are very professional and it is a fun thing to do, especially with a group.
Had a delightful day out with Hire a Canoe. Nicely organised and felt very safe with regards Covid precautions. Sensible safety advice and equipment provided. Once on the river we felt as if we were in a different world - with jumping fish, swans, damselflies, goosanders and kingfishers. Looking forward to booking another trip soon.
Very friendly, helpful staff. Good value! Route was easy but fun, and very relaxing. We saw a few otters too! Great day out :) we even took the dog with us who enjoyed spotting all the wildlife!
Spending half a day on the river was a great way to see this party of the countryside. We saw swans, heron and kingfishers, but mainly our was the peaceful stretches of water and its banks that we passed by that made the day. The guys were very professional and the cost was great value. There was a variety of boats to choose from. My son and I used a double kayak which was easy to either glide down the river or get some speed up and ready to maneuver.
We started at 9am and went 12 miles to Shrewsbury. Value for money is amazing, value of life experiences and memories is completely priceless. Thank you so much lads!

Airmen Save Kayaker's Life in Alaska
"I can't feel my legs. I can't feel my legs." The man repeated this phrase over and over as Air Force Staff Sgt. Boston Postgate and Senior Airman Daniel Lowe dug their oars into the frigid Alaskan waters, driving toward the shore. Battling the pain and numbness spreading through their arms, they focused solely on rescuing the man clinging to their kayak.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do we need to book or can we just turn up on the day? Yes you need to book in advance as we do get busy.
Is there a minimum age? 6/7 years old is our minimum age and children need to be able to swim at least 50 metres.
Is the trip suitable for beginners? Yes probably 75% of our customers are novices. We use easy grade 1 water on our river trips and open top canoes require no previous experience.
What time do we get to the lunchtime stop as we have friends who want to come and join us for lunch? Approx 12.45pm – 1pm depending on how fast or slow people paddle.
When are you open? We open at Easter and run pretty much every day until mid September and then every weekend until November.
Is there a chance I might fall in? The simple answer to that is yes there is a chance as you are canoeing on water, however most people do stay dry. If someone is very nervous we can twin two boats together making it a very stable double-hulled craft with a capsize very unlikely.
Are there toilets and parking at the start point? Yes there are toilets and a pay and display car park in Bridgnorth (£2.00 per day per car).
What time do we need to be there on the morning of our trip? 9.45am for both day trips starting in Bridgnorth. The two day trip usually meets at 10.30am at the Unicorn Inn car park in Hampton Loade.
Is lunch included in the price? No lunch is not included in the price.
Is the steam train return included in the price? Yes the return ticket on the steam train is included in the price if you have booked the Canoe trip with steam train return package.
Can we do the trip in reverse i.e. train up in the morning then canoe down? Normally no as we have groups meeting at 9.45am and the first train into Bridgnorth is usually midday which means we have already left the meeting point and are on the river heading downstream.
