I MALL BRO.

I cant remember what basikbiker uses, but man if you could get something like inventor it could help your design by adding some functional contraints to it. I guess at the end of the day though you could just go with the raw measurements and then space accordingly, but having a 3D platform to sort of cycle the components might help prevent some weird bind up in the process. Regardless man it looks pretty good! I had to dabble in 3D stuff back in college which was fun to do although sucks I have yet to use the 3D parts aspect in the real world. Looking forward to seeing the rest develop.

Nice. Any thoughts of doing a spindle adapter to convert an OE spindle to use the horizontal uniball?

For anyone looking to get some more info about suspension geometry and play with a calculator, I found this site. $4/mo gives you access to all the features of the suspension calculator, and you can share your design with others. I'll take measurements of my current suspension tonight and play with modifications such as +3.5" over width and steering & CV angles. Seems like a pretty cool tool for a really low cost compared to other tools. https://www.racingaspirations.com/apps/suspension-geometry-calculator/

Most common way is to get a D44 bolt on snout and build off that. https://camburg.com/shop/drivetrain/camburg-4130-bolt-on-snout-block/ https://www.polyperformance.com/sol...ed-front-spindles-small-bearing-set-2-sa44-19 I'm just building off the whole toyota pickup IFS spindle. Wayy cheaper when you start adding up the cost. Almost as strong. Or copy the d44 design for the 05+ tacoma unit hub. Then you just have throw away hubs.

So I recently decided that I wanted to take off my current setup and pull the trigger on a legit Long Travel kit. I started researching the different available kits out there and stumbled across a Fabrication shop in Tucson, AZ called ZONA Motorsports (formerly Dirty B Fabwerx ) that currently specializes in Chevy Truck Long Travel kits. They had a Tacoma Long Travel kit, but its design is currently being updated. Website: https://dirtybfabwerx.com/ Facebook: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/zonamotorsports/ So I am now working with ZONA Motorsports (formerly Dirty B Fabwerx) on an updated version of his Long Travel kit and thought I would share the progress here for anybody else that may be interested. These below pictures are his original design, the UCAs and Spindle design are currently being updated for strength and a cleaner look. I'll share updates as I get them and post pictures of the install and testing.

The rendering doesn't show the heimed rod ends in the uca and the vertical uniball at the uca / spindle pivot joint won't limit up travel as soon.

ovrlndkull said: ↑ The original looks single shear like a stock style replacement and UCA the new renderings are double shear or at least how I know what they are. The upper looks similar to the LSK kit. Oh wait I just looked at it more closely that is weird looks like a full custom mount would be needed for the frame side. Interesting. Not sure how well that vertical orientation would work. Click to expand...

Long Travel Kit FAQ

diy long travel kit

If you’re all about rough riding and off-road racing, you know that a stock suspension system just doesn’t cut it. You need more—more strength, more stability, and more control. And that’s exactly what SuperATV delivers with our long travel kits.

But what is a long travel kit, and why would you want one? A lot goes into adding one of these kits to your side-by-side, so we imagine you have some questions. We’ve put together a list of the most common long travel queries to bring you up to speed.

Still have questions after reading through this list? Drop a comment below and we’ll be happy to answer it for you!

What are long travel kits?

A long travel kit is a complete suspension replacement. It comes with everything you need to make your off-road vehicle wider, stronger, and more stable than stock.

Long travel kits are designed to dampen the effects of rough riding. The extra width provides stability and makes your machine harder to tip, so you can approach turns at higher speeds. And the extra suspension travel keeps your shocks from bottoming out as easily.

What does a long travel kit do?

More suspension travel helps to soften your landing after launching off hills or dunes. Increased suspension articulation also helps with complicated trail riding and technical driving. A long travel kit gives you a smoother ride, room for bigger tires, and easier high-speed cornering.

These kits aren’t for everyone, though. If you ride on trails where a maximum vehicle width is enforced or if you’re looking to lift your machine, a long travel suspension probably isn’t for you. These kits are designed for width and stability, not lift.

Click here to learn more about what a long travel kit does and why you would want one.

What’s included in a long travel kit?

All SuperATV long travel kits come with:

  • Rhino 2.0 axles
  • Radius arms
  • Front A-arms
  • Threaded ball joints
  • Rear trailing arms
  • Sway bar link
  • Tie rods and tie rod ends
  • Extended brake lines and tie rods
  • All necessary hardware

Depending on the model, some will also have new springs, shock relocation brackets, or a steering stop kit.

What’s the difference between a long travel kit and a conversion kit?

A conversion kit is similar to a long travel kit in that they both give you a complete suspension overhaul. However, conversion kits are made to convert your machine’s suspension to that of another specific machine—like if you want to give your RZR the suspension of a RZR S.

While they’re similar, conversion kits don’t always come with the exact same components that you get in a long travel kit.

What’s the difference between a long travel kit and a lift kit?

Long travel kits are designed to make your machine wider, not taller. They’re all about giving you more stability. The main goal of a lift kit, on the other hand, is to get your machine higher off the ground, allowing for the clearance of larger tires.

Do I need to buy anything else in addition to the kit?

Nope! SuperATV’s long travel kits come with everything you need.

How much wider does it make my machine?

The increase in width varies from kit to kit. SuperATV sells 3” through 6” kits. The advertised width is per side, so you’re getting an additional 6” to 12” of width overall.

Can I use my stock axles?

No, stock axles are not compatible with SuperATV long travel kits. However, each kit comes with Rhino 2.0 Axles.

Can I stack a lift kit on top of a long travel kit?

A lift kit may or may not be compatible with your long travel kit—it depends on your machine. If this is something you’re interested in, give us a call and we’ll get you figured out.

If you’re looking for maximum height, you may also consider adding a GDP Portal Gear Lift on top of your long travel kit.

What size tire will a long travel kit clear?

Your max tire size depends on your particular machine and long travel kit. Here’s the breakdown for all SuperATV kits:

  • Polaris RZR XP Turbo 3” Long Travel Kit — 33” max
  • Polaris RZR XP 1000 3” Long Travel Kit — 33” max
  • Can-Am Maverick X3 Long Travel Kit — 32” max
  • Polaris RZR 800 6” Long Travel Kit — 30” max
  • Arctic Cat Wildcat Trail 5” Long Travel Kit — 34” max

Do the A-arms have a forward or rear offset?

Just like max tire size, whether or not your A-arms will have an offset depends on the kit:

  • Polaris RZR XP Turbo 3” Long Travel Kit — 2” rear offset
  • Polaris RZR XP 1000 3” Long Travel Kit — 2” rear offset
  • Can-Am Maverick X3 Long Travel Kit — no offset
  • Polaris RZR 800 6” Long Travel Kit — 2” front/rear offset
  • Arctic Cat Wildcat Trail 5” Long Travel Kit — no offset

What shocks can I run with this kit?

Most long travel kits use shock brackets that require stock shocks or the equivalent. If you want to go with aftermarket shocks, the requirements will vary from kit to kit. You can always give us a call if you’re unsure of your shock length requirements.

Are long travel kits covered under warranty?

All arms are covered by a lifetime warranty.

The included Rhino 2.0 Axles come with an 18-month warranty.

The heavy duty 4340 ball joints are covered for one year. Some long travel kits give you the option of upgrading to our super duty 300M ball joints, which are covered for a lifetime.

I have a 2020 Honda Talon R with a Turbo. Do you have a Long Travel Kit for it and what would the price be?

Avatar for Tyler Lichlyter

Hey Ben! Unfortunately, we do not offer long travel kits for Hondas as of right now.

Avatar for Andrew

Hey guys I have an 2014 Articat wildcat 1000 with a long travel kit 3” I have 2 axles that are shot and I cannot find these extended axles anywhere ! I desperately need some help locating these. My bike has been down for quite some time now searching for these things.

Avatar for Kavan Wright

Hey Andrew, unfortunately we don’t have any long travel axles for the Arctic Cat Wildcat 1000. It looks like you might have to do some custom work. One company that could help is Summers Brothers racing. In the past, they’ve been able to provide custom-length shafts that fit OEM CVs, although I’m not 100% sure they can still do that. They’re also based out of Canada which can be a hassle if you’re not, but their prices seem reasonable. Turner Axles should be able to help you out too, but they’re a little pricier. Sorry we can’t help you out more. Hopefully this sets you on the path to getting what you need.

Thank you guys !!!

Avatar for Thomas

I installed a long travel kit but I’m getting some some noise from rear axles. The angle doesn’t look correct on the axles. I’m also doing a high lift kit on another cart, I haven’t started on that one yet.

Hey Thomas. There are a lot of variables that can lead to different kinds of suspension issues on a long travel kit. If it’s a SuperATV long travel kit you’ve installed, your best bet is to give us a call at 855-743-3427 so we can help you out. Thanks for reading!

Coarse spline tractor pto shaft wool work. Have a buddy that's been running it for a few years.

Thats exactly what I'm using, from tractor supply and it so far is holding up to my supercharged 5vz-fe and 40's. It is only 10" of slip though.

Can't remember the brand name, but got mine through wfo concepts in auburn ca. Wanna say they ran through Sacramento drivelines for it, if you want another place to call.

For the sake of conversation and to give Trail-Gear a chance, what do you guys think of the revised Trail-Gear kit wtih larger splined section, and Teflon coated splines? All of the references I found were all quite a few years old.. I didn't see any talk of this new kit..

I had not! Looks like they've still got one with an advertised 8" of travel. Will that be enough for a RUF setup? I was under the impression that I should be looking for something with 10" or so. Here's All-Pro's offering: https://www.allprooffroad.com/pickupdrivetrain/31

Maybe I'm mistaken on length, but I remember they offered a quality kit. Never saw it seperate

Bumping this old thread. About to finaly go duals in my truck and looking into options to replace the square drive line I have now. Ive had the square shaft on for about 4 years with no problems and is durable as heck. Its just heavy and bulky. Any new developments in DIY front shafts before I just get some longer square stock?

Free COVID Tests in the Mail Are Coming Back: How It Will Work

The US government will again start shipping free COVID-19 tests through the US Postal Service next month.

diy long travel kit

Much of the funding for COVID-19 tests expired when the official public emergency ended.

The COVID-19 summer surge continues -- 26 states and Washington, DC still face "very high" levels of COVID-19 in wastewater data as of Aug. 22, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention . In advance of the fall season and cooler weather, the US government has again announced plans to ship free at-home COVID-19 tests to households that request them.

On Aug. 23, the  COVIDTests.gov website announced that US households will again be able to order four free at-home COVID test kits in "late September." No official date for the start of the program has been given yet by the US Postal Service or the Department of Health and Human Services.

Dawn O'Connell, assistant secretary for preparedness and response at the Department of Health and Human Services, said, "As families start to move indoors this fall and begin spending time with their loved ones, both very old and very young, they will once again have the opportunity to order up to four new COVID-19 tests free of charge and have them sent directly to their homes," according to ABC News.

On March 8, 2024, the federal government halted its free COVID test program, which had been restarted in September 2023. There have been a total of six previous rounds of free COVID tests.

Until the program restarts, there are still a few different ways to get free testing for COVID-19. Read on to find out the ways you can still get free COVID testing, as well as how to get your hands on free treatments and COVID-19 vaccines.

For more, here's what to know about long COVID  and all the latest information about mpox .

How does the USPS free COVID-19 test program work?

In January 2022, President Joe Biden announced the launch of  CovidTests.gov , a website where households could order four free rapid antigen COVID-19 tests shipped by the Postal Service. The site added four more free tests in March 2022, eight more in May 2022, four more in December 2022 and four more again in September 2023. This new round of shipments will also include four COVID tests to start.

Unlike some complicated government applications, ordering free tests from the Postal Service in the past has been simple. It should take less than 2 minutes to complete a short form asking for your name and mailing address, and the tests should ship in about a week or two. People without internet access or those who have trouble ordering online should be able to request tests using a toll-free phone number: 800-232-0233 .

It's not clear exactly how long the free COVID-19 tests will last, so it's best to get your order in early when the new shipments begin in September.

How will I order free tests from USPS?

When the Postal Service starts taking orders for COVID-19 tests again in late September, you'll probably need to provide only a minimum of personal information like your name and your address to order your tests. You won't need to provide any credit or debit card details -- the tests and the shipping are free.

All orders will likely be shipped via First Class Package Service. People who can't access the website or who have trouble ordering online should be able to call  800-232-0233  to order their free tests, once the program starts up again in September.

When will my COVID tests arrive?

In the past, free COVID tests from USPS have arrived about two weeks after ordering. The tests are typically sent out within seven to 12 days and are delivered by USPS within one to three days after shipping.

What are my free COVID-19 testing options now?

Until the Postal Service begins shipping free COVID tests again in late September, you have five main avenues to find free COVID-19 testing locations across the US: HRSA health centers, Test to Treat locations, ICATT testing sites, private health insurance, and Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program. These options function similarly, but we'll break down the specific steps to find your nearest free testing location.

HRSA health centers offer free COVID-19 testing

map of HRSA health center locations for COVID testing near Detroit

HRSA health centers offer free COVID-19 testing.

The Health Resources and Services Administration funds health centers across the US. At these HRSA health centers, you will be able to receive free COVID-19 testing. You can use HRSA's locator tool to find a center near you.

First, select the language you would like to receive your results in. Then simply enter the location you wish to search into the box labeled Location . The locator also allows you to widen your search radius, so you can see all the options your area has to offer.

Once you've found a center that works for you, click through to that particular location's website and follow their specific instructions for obtaining a free COVID-19 test.

Test to Treat locations have COVID testing and medicine

map of Test to Treat locations for COVID testing near Atlanta

The Test to Treat program makes COVID testing and therapeutics more accessible.

Test to Treat is a federally funded healthcare initiative that provides more accessible COVID-19 care. This option differs from the others in this article as you can use the Test to Treat centers to receive both COVID testing and treatment for infections. Like the other COVID-19 free testing options, Test to Treat has a locator tool that you can use to find an eligible Test to Treat center near you.

The Test to Treat center locator  works like the other COVID testing search tools. Enter your location into the search bar and the tool will display Test to Treat locations in your area. A sliding bar lets you resize the search radius to capture all of the Test to Treat centers within your area.

Within the Test to Treat locator results, you'll be able to see each location's address, which COVID-19 therapeutics they offer and other special instructions you might need to know to get tested. If there's not an option to schedule a COVID test online through your chosen site, you may need to call.

Increasing Community Access to Testing provides COVID testing for the uninsured

a map showing ICATT COVID testing locations near Chicago

ICATT offers free testing to uninsured patients who are showing symptoms of COVID-19 or who have recently been exposed.

Increasing Community Access to Testing , or ICATT, is another free testing program that you can use if you need access to free COVID-19 testing. ICATT works a bit differently than the other programs on this list.

ICATT is specifically designed for uninsured patients who have been exposed to COVID-19 or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. Anyone can get an ICATT test at one of the program's locations, regardless of insurance status. If you are uninsured and you wish to be tested at an ICATT-eligible site, you will not need to pay for your test. If you are insured, you might need to pay a fee.

The  ICATT locator tool works just like the other locator tools for free COVID testing -- input your address or your ZIP code to find ICATT locations near you. There is a search radius adjuster in this locator to tweak your searches to capture the entire area that you want to search.

Once you've found a location, follow your testing site's steps for scheduling your appointment.

What about free COVID tests from health insurance, Medicare or Medicaid?

On Jan. 10, 2022,  President Joe Biden announced that all health insurance companies would be required by law to provide their customers with eight free COVID-19 tests per month. However, that requirement expired with the  end of the national public health emergency for COVID-19 on May 11, 2023.

California law still requires all health care providers to offer eight free at-home COVID-19 tests per month to their customers. Outside that state, you'll need to check with your own health insurance to learn its coverage policy for over-the-counter COVID tests.

Medicare generally doesn't pay for over-the-counter products like COVID-19 test kits, according to the  Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services . Medicare's coverage of at-home COVID tests ended with the public health emergency.

If you're enrolled in Medicare Plan B, you still have access to "laboratory-conducted COVID-19 tests" such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests, but you won't be covered for over-the-counter rapid antigen tests. If you have health care coverage through Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program, you can still receive free at-home COVID tests through Sept. 30, 2024.

How can I get free COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots?

COVID-19 vaccines and boosters are an important protection against contracting or getting seriously ill from the virus. Since the CDC has recommended updated COVID-19 booster shots for everyone 6 months or older, you might be wondering how to find free COVID-19 vaccines.

If you don't have insurance or a health provider, you can still get COVID vaccines free for a short period of time.

On Sept. 14, 2023, the Department of Health and Human Services launched the  Bridge Access Program , which will continue to provide free vaccines to those who are uninsured through local health departments and HRSA centers. The CDC has also partnered with "more than 20,000 retail pharmacy locations nationwide" to provide free vaccines by modifying the existing ICATT program mentioned above.

Funding for the Bridge Access Program will end after August 2024, but until then, you'll be able to access free COVID-19 vaccines. To use it, go to vaccines.gov , choose which shot you want, and then click the "search" button. On the next page, select the option that says "Bridge Access Program Participant" to show which locations offer no-cost vaccines.
