Plant Locations

Milton Hershey was looking for the ideal location for his new chocolate factory and turned to central Pennsylvania, with its clean water, pastoral beauty and access to farm fresh milk. Today, The Hershey Company is still headquartered in Hershey, PA with additional state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities across the U.S. and around the world.

United States

LANCASTER, PA

Just a short drive east from Hershey, Pennsylvania, Lancaster is home to the original Y&S Candies plant, which manufactures Twizzlers Candy. The plant holds the Guinness Book World Record for the longest piece of Pull 'n' Peel candy at 1200 feet, and inside the plant you are surrounded by a rainbow of colors!

STUARTS DRAFT, VA

Stuarts Draft is our second largest plant in the U.S. Hershey network and primarily produces products with peanuts. At the foot of the Blue Ridge mountains, this quaint community is surrounded by the lush, fertile fields of the Shenandoah Valley, which is dotted with vineyards, farms and historic landmarks of rural Virginia.

BLUFFTON, IN

The Bluffton plant has been a proud part of the community since its inception in 1979. It produces beloved pretzel products such as Dot’s spinzels, Hershey mini pretzels, and Pirate’s Booty puffcorn.

EDGERTON, KS

The Edgerton plant pioneers cutting-edge technology in pretzel production. Here we are able to make all the flavors of Dot’s Homestyle Pretzels.

HAZLETON, PA

Our Hazleton Plant, located in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains, produces delicious Cadbury, Caramello and Kit Kat® products.

MEMPHIS, TN

Our manufacturing plant here produces Hershey’s gum, mints and licorice and is home of the Ice Breakers brand. This historic city is undergoing a massive revitalization, from its thriving South Main Street Art District and Warehouse District to the Civil Rights Museum and Mississippi riverfront.

GOODYEAR, AZ

The Goodyear plant, which opened in 2016 with fewer than 12 employees, expanded operations to meet the increasing popularity of Dot’s Homestyle Pretzels. The plant produces both original and southwest flavors.

Lenexa was the first location in Kansas to start production on Dot’s Homestyle Pretzels in 2017. Here we primarily produce the beloved honey mustard flavor. Just 20 minutes outside of Kansas City, Lenexa is a booming suburb and the perfect spot to make the best pretzels!

HERSHEY, PA

In addition to our corporate offices, two manufacturing plants are located in Hershey, Pennsylvania. West Hershey plant opened in 2012 and produces more than 70 million Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolates a day! The facility also manufactures Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bars, Hershey’s Milk Chocolate with Almonds bars and Hershey’s Syrup. Just across Old Chocolate Avenue, the smell of roasted peanuts often fills the air around the Reese factory where Reese’s products have been produced for over 60 years.

ROBINSON, IL

The original Heath candy store here is now a museum that celebrates the birth of the Heath Bar over 100 years ago. You can even still smell the delicious chocolate and caramel aromas across Robinson’s picturesque town square.

LAWRENCE, KS

Lawrence is just west of Kansas City and is home to the University of Kansas. The Lawrence plant was built in 2021 to supply Dot’s seasoning plants with their base pretzels. We currently bake, season and package Dot’s Homestyle Pretzels.

PLYMOUTH, IN

Plymouth is a small city of approximately 10,000 people, located about 30 minutes from the famous Notre Dame University.  Built in 2017, the Plymouth plant produces peanut butter filled pretzels and Dot’s Homestyle Pretzels.

SÃO ROQUE & SÃO PAULO People around the world have unique tastes, and Brazil is no exception. Hershey Brazil has been producing and launching new products customized to the tastes of Brazilian consumers since 2000. As part of a joint venture, we have manufacturing in São Roque and a Commercial Office in São Paulo.

MISSISSAUGA, ON

Hershey Canada Headquarters is located in Canada’s sixth largest city — and also one of its most beautiful. Framed by Lake Ontario, the city of Mississauga has more than 480 lush parks and 23 scenic trail systems. We have plants located in Saint-Hyacinthe and Granby, Quebec.

MANDIDEEP, MADHYA PRADESH Our subsidiary, Hershey India Private Ltd., operates mainly in confectionery and beverages. Hershey India has regional sales offices throughout the country as well as a manufacturing plant in Mandideep, Madhya Pradesh.

Operating from the elegant Aoyama district of the world's most populous metropolitan area, our Tokyo satellite office enables Hershey to distribute and market our products throughout the region.

SEOUL The busy Seoul satellite office, which markets many chocolate, mint, syrup, cocoa and beverage products via distributors and licensees, is perched along the Han River in South Korea’s capital city.

Designed to be modern and environmentally friendly, our new Johor plant is the second largest in Hershey’s global manufacturing network. Its flexible technology will enable production of the broadest array of products of any Hershey factory outside of the United States and Mexico.

Singapore is home to the Hershey AEMEA Regional Office Headquarters, which manages our satellite offices from Shanghai, Malaysia and Seoul to Tokyo, Dubai, Manila and Mumbai.

GUADALAJARA, MEXICO CITY & MONTERREY As the birthplace of chocolate, Mexico has a sweet spot in the Hershey family. We’ve been manufacturing high-quality chocolate, beverages and grocery products in Mexico for more than 40 years, with our Regional Office Headquarters in Guadalajara; sales offices in Mexico City and Monterrey; and manufacturing in El Salto and Monterrey. We’re also very proud of our new Latin America Innovation Center for quickly developing and testing new product and packaging ideas.

Philippines

MAKATI CITY

Our Makati City office, located on prestigious Ayala Avenue, is home to our Regional Operating Headquarters; our Global Shared Services; and the sales, marketing and distribution team of World Travel Retail and Asia South.

United Arab Emirates

DUBAI Dubai, the second largest of the seven United Arab Emirates (UAE), is well known for its skyscrapers and luxurious shopping malls. The Hershey office for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) market is based here, along with a local co-manufacturing facility for this rapidly growing region.

The Complete Guide To Hershey's Chocolate World

Hershey's Chocolate World chocolate centerpiece

Hershey's Chocolate World is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, so what better time to go and get your chocolate on? Hershey's Chocolate World opened in 1973 as a visitors center for the Hershey's chocolate factory. Now, it is part of a series of attractions, including Hershey Park and Hershey's Chocolate Town.

Walking into Hershey's Chocolate World is as close as we will ever get to walking into Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. It is filled with candy and adventures of its own that are thankfully much safer than that of Wonka's. You may wonder what Hershey's Chocolate World can offer, especially with Hershey Park right outside the door, but rest assured, it is a magical experience in itself and, perhaps just as importantly, is completely free to enter. If you are looking to take a trip to the sweetest place on earth, read this first. We're giving you the full rundown of everything Hershey's Chocolate World has to offer so you can take full advantage of your time there.

Tickets and pricing

Inside of Hershey's Chocolate World

While it is completely free to enter Hershey's Chocolate World and there are free activities inside, there are also individual attractions that cost money. Tickets for different attractions can be purchased on the Hershey's Chocolate World website. We will discuss the individual ticket prices of each attraction, but the tickets generally range from $19 to $30. Tickets also come with a designated time for each event, so be mindful of this when you plan out your day.

If you know you want to try more than one event, Hershey's offers three ticket bundles that can save you between $8 and $18 on attractions, depending on which bundle you choose. These bundles are $5 cheaper when purchased online ahead of time, so if you want to save some additional money, plan ahead. In addition, most attractions are free for children under the age of three when paired with a paying adult.

Unlike other attractions in Hershey, Hershey's Chocolate World is open year-round. However, hours do vary based on the day and season.

Hershey's Chocolate Tour

Hershey's Chocolate Tour sign

We are going to start this guide with the Hershey's Chocolate Tour, a ride that takes you through the process of making Hershey's Milk Chocolate. Each passenger hops into one of the chocolate-themed carts, which pulls you on a track through a chocolate factory display.

The adventure starts at the farm, complete with animatronic cattle, and explains the steps involved in making Hershey's milk chocolate. It combines animatronics and holographic images to build a chocolate factory without being in a chocolate factory. This attraction is slow and easy to ride, making it appropriate for children of any age. In fact, it will likely appeal to the youngest members of your group. Best of all, it is completely free. Plus, at the end, each rider is given a complimentary mini bar of Hershey's Milk chocolate.

The Hershey's Chocolate Tour is under 10 minutes to ride; that said, the line can take around 30 minutes to get through. In our experience, though, you will not have wait that long.

Hershey's Great Candy Expedition

Inside the HersheyLand Express

Hershey's Great Candy Expedition is the newest attraction in Hershey's Chocolate World. This is a cinematic experience, but Hershey's does a great job of making it feel as real as possible. The experience is based on a classic Art Deco-inspired train ride that takes you through several different candy worlds: Kisses Valley, Jolly Rancher Junction, Reese's Ridge, Almond Joy and Mounds Cove, Kit Kat Timbers, and Twizzlers Forest.

Upon entering the train station, each guest is given a cup of fresh Reese's peanut butter to try while they admire the details of the station. Guests are then led to Platform 73, where they "board" the Hersheyland Express, which is the main theater.

The theater includes screens on three of the four sides and uses sights, smells, and sounds to create a full sensory immersive experience. In addition, each chair in the cinema is equipped with buttons, allowing viewers to vote on which of the candy worlds they want to experience. In the end, you are given a cute baggie filled with candy from each world to enjoy.

Individual tickets are $19.95 when purchased online. This is one of two experiences that are included in all the ticket bundles.

Create Your Own Candy Bar

Create Your Own Candy Bar

If you want the full candy factory experience, then the Create Your Own Candy Bar attraction is definitely up your alley. Before entering, each guest is given a hair net and a spiffy Hershey's apron to help keep the area clean. Your ticket contains a QR code that will be scanned at different points in the creation process. This allows you to choose from one of the three chocolate bases: dark, milk, and white; choose from a selection of fillings; and even design the wrapper you like.

Once all of your selections are set, the fully-automated system sets to work, pulling your chosen base, adding your fillings, and topping it with more velvety smooth chocolate (and sprinkles if you so choose). Finally, the bars are cooled, wrapped in a box, and laser labeled with the date and your name before being placed in a protective metal case.

This activity is fun to do after the Hershey's Chocolate tour and pairs really well with Hershey Unwrapped, where you learn about different chocolate flavors. You can apply your knowledge from there to create the bar of your dreams.

Create Your Own Candy Bar is the most expensive of the attractions. Individual tickets for this attraction cost $29.95 online, and those without tickets cannot participate as they will not have a QR code to scan through the process. The chocolate bars created here are Kosher certified.

Hershey's Unwrapped

Hershey's Unwrapped Sign

If you came to Hershey's to eat chocolate, then this is the place to start. Hershey's Unwrapped Gives you a taste of the products made by Hershey's and teaches you how to do it. This is no boring class, though. On the contrary, the whole experience is designed to entertain as well as educate. A clumsy, yet endearing, tasteologist leads you through an explanation of the five senses and the six tastes invoked when eating chocolate. You are then sent into a mad chocolate laboratory to experiment with flavors.

If all of this makes you hungry, you are in luck! The show comes with a metal kit filled with different types of Hershey's candy to be eaten throughout the show. If this isn't enough, at the end of the show, you receive your MFA in chocolate tasting from the Hershey's Chocolate Academy, which comes with a surprise: a full-sized bar of Hershey's milk chocolate.

The show is definitely family oriented, meant to appeal to the younger members of the crowd. Tickets for Hershey's Unwrapped are $18.95 for those three and older. They are also available as part of the larger two-bundle options, which also include Create Your Own Candy Bar and Hershey's Great Candy Expedition.

Hershey Trolley Works

Trolly waiting outside of Hershey's Chocolate World

Hershey Trolley Works is the only attraction at Hershey's Chocolate World that takes you outside the main building. It begins on a retrofitted old-school trolly that is stationed right outside the entrance. In case of bad weather, there is a covered space to wait under until it is time to board.

There are four trolley rides available. The Historical Trolley Tour, which is a 75-minute tour that shuttles you around the town of Hershey, is available all year long; it lets you take in important sights and learn about the history of the town and candy company. The Original Trolley Show, which is more family-friendly and is 45 minutes long, includes characters and songs. This show runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Also offered are special occasion trolleys, including the Halloween-themed Trick-Or-Treat Trolley, which runs specific days in September and October and is 40 minutes long, and a Christmas-themed Holly Jolly Trolley, which runs specific days from November through New Year's Day and is 45 minutes long.

Each of these shows comes with chocolate throughout the ride and an engaging conductor dressed in period clothing. Tickets are $22.95 for chocolate adventurers three and up, or they can be purchased as part of the largest ticket bundle and is paired with Hershey's Great Candy Expedition, Create Your Own Candy Bar, and Hershey's Unwrapped.

Stuff Your Cup

Massive Reese's being filled

Have you ever had a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup and thought to yourself, "This is good, but what if it were obscenely large?" Well, then, Stuff Your Cup is for you. Stuff Your Cup allows you to design your own mammoth-sized Reese's cup.

It starts with a large chocolate shell. From there, you get to pick four mix-ins, which include chocolate chips, bacon bits, potato chips, marshmallows, and so much more. This gets mixed with an immense amount of Reese's peanut butter, smooshed together, and placed into the shell. Then, as if this is not enough, you get to choose two of three syrups — chocolate, peanut butter, or caramel — to layer on before the final chocolate shell is placed on top.

When we say large, we mean it. We weighed our final creation, and it was nearly 2 pounds of chocolate peanut butter goodness. You may wonder how to eat this, and we have some suggestions. First, remove the top disc and break it into pieces. Use this to start scooping out your peanut butter filling as if it were a dip. Then, when you run out of the chocolate top disc, move on to the shell.

This attraction does not require a ticket but does cost $19.95 per Reese's cup, paid for at the register at the end of the process. Honestly, though, for the price you get a lot of peanut butter cups and they're custom-made to your specifications. So, if you are a Reese's fan, leave moderation at the door, do yourself a favor, and Stuff Your Cup.

Dining options

Hershey Chocolate World Big S'Mores

Of course, with all this candy and adventuring, you may want to take a break and grab some food or drink — and the Hershey's Chocolate World Food Hall has you covered. Different stations throughout the hall allow you to savor foods such as vegetarian chili, pizza, macaroni and cheese, and salad. Do not make the mistake of thinking this is where the chocolate stops, though. The chicken salad includes cocoa-dusted chicken and the beef sliders are made with a Hershey's Yuengling chocolate porter.

In addition to fountain drinks and milk, adults are free to enjoy a wide range of adult beverages, including Hershey's Yuengling chocolate porter, Twizzlers peach hard lemonade, and Jolly Ranchers margaritas.

Of course, there are sweet treats, too, including delicious ice cream sundaes and milkshakes, stunning hot chocolate that would put Ned Flanders to shame, a s'mores station, and a full bakery serving up cakes, cookies, and more. This is just a tidbit of the delectable foods available at Hershey's Chocolate World. And don't worry: There is also coffee to help keep you going.

Food can be purchased individually or added as part of a Meal Deal to ticket bundles. Adult meals come with an entree, snack, cookie, and drink, and children's meals include a souvenir lunchbox, pizza or mac and cheese, apple sauce, bottled water, and a mini Hershey's chocolate bar.

This is not just any candy store; it is an experience unto itself. You could spend hours going through all the products available, spread throughout the vast landscape that is Hershey's Chocolate World. Here you can find swag, such as shirts, stuffed animals, Hershey Factory building blocks, and Hershey's branded board games. There are build-your-own candy containers, direct-from-factory flavors, jars of Reese's peanut butter, Hershey's Kisses flavors from all over the world, hard-to-find candy bars, such as Skor, 5th Avenue, and Zagnut, and Hershey's Chocolate World exclusive flavors. Hershey’s Chocolate World Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to frequently asked questions about Hershey’s Chocolate World , and other things to do in Hershey, PA to help you plan a magical trip!

Is Hershey’s Chocolate World free to visit?

Yes, you can visit Hershey’s Chocolate World for free.

The “Chocolate Tour” is free, but there are a lot of other activities you can add on that will all cost extra (more on that below) .

Do you have to pay for parking at Hershey’s Chocolate World?

You can park for free at Chocolate World.

However, according to their website, in order to keep the parking lot from filling up, the free parking is limited by time:

1-3 hours-FREE

3-5 hours-$15

5+ hours-$40

But, if you book a bundle with all 4 of the extra activities, you will get free parking.

Buuuut (once again), when we visited in May 2021, there was free parking all day (maybe because they have less visitors right now…?) .

Are Chocolate World and Hershey Park the same thing?

No, Chocolate World and Hershey Park are not the same thing. They are right next to each other though.

Chocolate World is an interactive factory tour experience, cafe and store.

Hershey Park is an amusement park & water park.

Can you walk from Hershey’s Chocolate World to Hershey Park?

Yes, you can walk from Chocolate World to Hershey Park. They are right next to each other and share a parking lot.

How long should I spend at Chocolate World?

That depends on how many extra activities you add.

If you are just coming for the free chocolate tour, you could probably spend up to an hour on the tour and exploring all the shops, depending on how long the line for the tour is.

We did everything except “Hershey’s Unwrapped.” We also ate lunch (and desserts!) and perused the gift shop. We spent a total of 5 hours here.

If you are booking any tours, they all have a specific time slot, so that will help you gauge how long you will spend here.

Can you take pictures at Chocolate World?

Yes, you are welcome to take pictures at Chocolate World.

Do you need a ticket for the chocolate tour?

No, you do not need a ticket for the free chocolate tour at Hershey’s Chocolate World.

What other activities are there besides the chocolate tour?

There are five paid activities you can try out at Hershey’s Chocolate World. They are:

Hershey’s Unwrapped

Make Your Own Candy Bar

Hershey Trolley Works

Great Candy Expedition

Reese’s Stuff Your Cup

Are the other activities worth it?

When we visited Hershey’s Chocolate World, they only had three of these extra activities, as well as another activity that no longer exists. I have written reviews of those activities, but I would say the two activities I would definitely recommend are the trolley tour and the make your own candy bar experience.

If you have kids, I think any of the activities would be great. But some (like Hershey’s Unwrapped) is worth skipping if you don’t have kids. Anything that involves making your own candy (so the Reese’s Stuff Your Cup) I would say is worth it!

Hershey’s Unwrapped:

This is the one activity that we did not personally try. It is a theatrical show about chocolate. Based on the online description and our experience with the 4D Chocolate Movie, I would say it’s probably great for families with small kids, but worth skipping otherwise.

Make Your Own Candy Bar:

I definitely think this one was worth it! We got to pick up to 3 different mix-ins, and choose the kind of chocolate we wanted, and whether we wanted sprinkles on top. Then our candy bar was coated in even more chocolate! We got to watch the whole process, and then design a wrapper to go with it. You leave with a good sized candy bar, and a commemorative container to boot!

This was actually my favorite part of our day at Hershey. We got a tour around the town, and the surrounding areas, and learned so much fascinating history about Milton Hershey and his company that made me love Hershey so much more and want to buy more chocolate (that’s how they get you!). I would 100% recommend this tour (plus it came with a whole goody bag of free candy)!

My candy bar being coated in chocolate!

What kind of food do they have in the cafe at Chocolate World?

They do serve “real” food at the cafe in Chocolate World (not just chocolate!). However, the options are rather limited. These are the different food sections they had available in the cafe when we visited:

Baked Potato Bar

Mac n Cheese Bar

Beer & Pretzel Bar

I will say that all of these options were pretty pricey, and, to be honest, not that great. Basically, the food is the quality you would expect from a generic tourist attraction cafe.

They do also have a couple “grab and go” stations with “lighter” fare: pre-packaged salads and sandwiches.

They also have several dessert bars:

S’mores Bar

Ice Cream/Milkshake Bar

I would definitely say that the desserts outshine the lunch options (as it should be). I think the milkshakes and the s’mores are your best bet.

Other Things to do in Hershey, PA

hershey factory tour locations

Hershey Park:

Milton Hershey built Hershey Park for his employees to relax on their time off—how cool is that? I wish my employer would build me an amusement park…

They have 15 roller coasters, lots of kiddie rides, and a water park!

The Hershey Story Museum:

If you’re interested in learning more about the history of the Hershey Chocolate Company (and chocolate!), check out the Hershey Story Museum on Chocolate Ave.

You can also book a tour through them to High Point Mansion , the beautiful home that Milton and his wife Kitty built together.

Please note, tickets for this tour are very limited!

The Hershey Theater

See a show in the Hershey Theater , the beautiful downtown community center and theater that Milton Hershey had built in 1933 as part of his building campaign during the Great Depression (he was seriously the best boss ever).

Other Things to do Nearby:

The turkey hill experience:.

If you’re into tours about sugary foods, this is the place to be! The Turkey Hill Experience is a great place to take the kids. They have a lot of interactive games and activities, as well as unlimited ice cream & iced tea samples (because apparently they also make tea…).

You can also make your own ice cream flavor, which you know I’m all about!

make-your-own-ice-cream-turkey-hill-experience

Make your own ice cream flavor: Before

make-your-own-ice-cream-turkey-hill-experience

Visit a Snack Factory:

York County is known as the “Snack Factory Capital of the World!” There are several snack factories offering tours (usually free!) to the public. Here are just a few:

Snyder’s of Hanover -pretzel factory tour

Revonah Pretzel -pretzel factory tour

Martin’s Snacks -potato chip factory tour

Utz -potato chip factory tour

Touring the Hershey Chocolate Factory

Hershey Chocolate Factory visitors department; Tour Director Lloyd Shoap and hostesses, ca. 1936-1940

Almost as soon as the Hershey Chocolate Factory began operating in 1905, visitors wanted to tour the facility to see how Hershey’s milk chocolate was made. The Company began offering formal tours as early as 1910. In 1915 the Hershey Visitors Bureau opened in the Cocoa House as an information center for Hershey’s rapidly growing tourist market. The Visitors Bureau provided information about Hershey’s attractions and provided Admission cards to visitors wishing to tour the factory. Opening in July 1915, the Bureau distributed over 10,000 factory tour admission cards during its first three months.

In 1928 the factory began keeping formal statistics about factory tours. A Factory tour was a popular part of a visit to Hershey. Whether you were coming to Hershey to visit the Park, swim at the pool, enjoy the flowers at the Hershey Gardens or to shop at the Department Store, many people made a factory tour part of their visit to Hershey.

Factory tours were not just for visitors. Many people have fond memories of growing up in Hershey and taking the tour just to get the chocolate provided to visitors at the end of the tour.  Frank Simione shared these fond memories in his 1993 oral history interview:

We used to go through the chocolate plant, through the main entrance on Chocolate Avenue. As we entered the main entrance there, they would give you a small cup of chocolate drink, and when you came back [from the tour], they would give you a pack with five bars, which says “Five Famous Hershey Bars.” We used to go over there to get the chocolate drink and get those five little famous bars. They were very little, in a small pack, and sometimes we used to go two and three times in a day, just to receive the chocolate drinks and the chocolate bars. Now, this was done practically every day.

By 1970 almost one million people were touring the factory each year. The factory had never been designed to handle so many people. So many visitors were causing traffic jams downtown, overwhelming the building capacity and creating risks for product safety. Hershey Foods Corporation’s solution was to build  Hershey’s Chocolate World , a corporate visitor center that could welcome the millions of people visiting Hershey each year and would teach how Hershey’s milk chocolate is made in a fun and informative way. The last public Chocolate factory tour was held June 29, 1973 and Hershey’s Chocolate World opened the next day.

Where is Hershey Park Chocolate World?

The Pennsylvania Hershey chocolate factory is located in Hershey, PA.  Hershey, Pennsylvania is a pretty awesome location as it is an easy drive from many eastern states.

Travel Time to Hershey Pennsylvania

  • Baltimore – 1.5 hours
  • New York City – Just over 3 hours
  • Philadelphia – 2.5 hours
  • Washington DC – Under 3 hours

Hershey Park Chocolate factory is located next to the official Hershey Park.

Hershey Park Chocolate World

There are two Hershey manufacturing plants located in Hershey.  One is where 70 million Hershey Kisses are produced in a day.  There is also a Reece’s plant located nearby.

There are many plants located all over the world.  In Hershey, PA the Hershey Chocolate Bar, Hershey Kisses, Hershey Chocolate Bars with Almonds, and Hershey Syrup are produced. Reece’s peanut butter cups are produced in Hershey, PA as well in another plant.

Hershey Chocolate Factory Tour

If you want to go on a Hershey chocolate factory tour you will have to settle with the Hershey’s Chocolate World tour.  Don’t worry it is awesome!

This is where you will get to see how the chocolate is produced and even receive a piece of candy at the end of your Hershey chocolate factory tour!

Admission to Hershey Chocolate World

The Hershey Chocolate tour is free! Yup, you read that right! Hershey Chocolate World is not the Hershey Amusement Park. It is located in the area before you would actually enter the park.

This area is new and really nice!

The Hershey Factory tour is a complimentary tour and is not what you would expect a chocolate factory tour to be, it is so much better.  We will get to that later!

Hershey Chocolate World at Hershey Park Hours

Times vary depending on the season.  Typically during the summer months, the Hershey factory tour will be available from 9:00 am – 9 or 10 pm.  During the spring and fall it will not open until 11:00 am.

Hershey Factory Tour

The store and Hershey chocolate factory tour are part of the free experiences at Hershey Chocolate World.  There are some additional experiences that do have a fee.  We will tell you all about them below.

Hershey Chocolate World Tickets

Hershey park chocolate world paid experiences.

  • Create Your Own Candy Bar Experience
  • Hershey’s Unwrapped
  • Hershey Trolley Works
  • Hershey Workshop Kit

Hershey Chocolate World Parking

Hershey Chocolate World parking is nice.  There are two separate Hershey Chocolate World parking lots. One is for the actual amusement park and one is for Hershey Chocolate World.

Free Hershey Chocolate World Parking

The Hershey Chocolate World parking is free! There is a time limit, you can’t park here and then plan to spend the day at the amusement park.  But both Hershey Chocolate World parking lots are pretty close together.

How Long Should I Spend at the Hershey Chocolate World Tour?

If you are going to Hershey Chocolate World and only want to do the Hershey Chocolate tour you can be in and out within probably 30-45 minutes.

Adventure Packages

Most people want to shop and experience an attraction or two.  Hershey Chocolate World has adventure packages that range from 2-3 hours.  This will include creating your own chocolate bar and a trolley tour around town.

One thing that is nice is Hershey Chocolate World opens before Hershey Park.  You can plan to check it out and then enter the park.

What is the Difference between Hershey Park and Hershey Chocolate World

Hershey Park is a legit amusement park with lots of roller coasters and it even has a water park and zoo area.

Hershey Chocolate World is a store with a free Hershey chocolate ride inside.  This ride is the Hershey factory tour. There are some experiences, but it is basically a cool store.

I wouldn’t necessarily plan the Hershey factor tour on the same day as you visit the amusement park.  Hershey Park is huge and could easily fill two full days!

What to Do at Hershey Chocolate World

Visiting Hershey Chocolate World is a great idea.  There are some fun things to do at Hershey Chocolate World.  The most exciting is the Hershey factory tour.

Let’s explore a little more of what to do at the Hershey park factory.  I am going to list out the best things to do at the Hershey chocolate factory in Hershey PA.

1. Hershey Chocolate Tour

The Hershey chocolate tour will be the highlight of your Hershey Chocolate World experience.

Basically, Hershey has created a Hershey chocolate ride where you hop in a cocoa bean and learn how the chocolate is made through an interactive ride experience.

Lines for the Hershey Chocolate Factory Tour

The line tends to be long.  But don’t worry it feels like you are constantly moving.  I would plan to wait 15-30 minutes on busier days.

What is the Chocolate Factory Tour Like?

You will begin at the farm and end with the production of chocolate.  There are lots of fun facts along the way.  At the end of the tour, you will get some delicious candy!

The tour is seriously well done and fun for all ages! Touring Hershey chocolate factory is a highlight and a must when you visit Hershey Park.

2. Shopping at Hershey Park Chocolate World Hershey PA

I don’t know about you, but I love themed stores! Hershey Chocolate World has every Hershey chocolate souvenir or candy you could ever hope for.

Hershey Chocolate Park Products

The number one thing to buy is candy.  I know what you are thinking, you can get that anywhere.  But Hershey claims to have the freshest candy at the Hershey store in Hershey PA.  So maybe it is worth it?!

There are also lots of options to fill a cup or other souvenir collectibles with candy.  you can also get shirts, sweatshirts, stuffed animals, or even Hershey-themed board games.

There are lots of fun things to shop around for at Hershey Chocolate World!   It is really fun to walk around Hershey Park Chocolate World and look at all of the merchandise!

hershey factory tour locations

3. Create Your Own Candy Bar

Price: $28.95

Thirty dollars for a candy bar seems a little expensive to me but how often are you going to be in a location that allows you to design your very own candy bar from start to finish?

Hershey Factory Tour Candy Bar Experience

You will become a professional Hershey factory tour worker and put on a lab coat and hairnet.  You will then be able to pick your flavor of chocolate.(White, Milk, or Dark)  Then you can add 3 ingredients.

You will get to watch as it rolls along a conveyer belt.  As The Chocolate hardens you can design your wrapper.

4. Hershey's Unwrapped

Price: $17.95

The Hershey Unwrapped experience is a great way to test all of your senses including taste which is what you will be most excited about during this interactive show.

You will be given a chocolate-tasting kit, basically a box of candy!  There will be certain times during the show when you will be asked to taste certain pieces.

This experience is a live-action show. This show has received rewards for the quality of the production. It is the perfect activity for families because even young children will enjoy this experience.

5. Hershey Trolley Works

Price: $18.95

The trolley tour is 75+ minutes. It is a tour around the city of Hershey PA. You will want to purchase your tickets inside the Hershey Chocolate World.

This tour is a historical interactive experience.  Live actors sing and talk about the history of Milton Hershey.  I didn’t get a chance to go on it but TripAdvisor  reviews are outstanding.

You will get to see historical sites.

Themed Trolleys

During the Christmas season there are two theme trolleys.  The Holly Jolly Trolley has Christmas caroling and magical moments. The Sweet Lights Trolley is a way to view the Christmas lights with a little Hershey chocolate flair.

The trolley tour is perfect on a day you are not going to Hershey Park.

6. Hershey Chocolate World Food Court

Touring Hershey Chocolate World will lead you to the food court. I am just going to say it! Get a milkshake! Hershey Chocolate World is known for its milkshakes.  There are classic flavors as well as special flavors.  They are so yummy! The line will probably be long so get ready to wait!

More than Sweets at Hershey Chocolate World

If you feel like you need something more filling than dessert, don’t worry the food hall at Hershey Chocolate World has pizza, pretzels, soup, and salads.  But you still might want to save room for dessert!

7. Hershey's Chocolate World Bakery

Hershey bakery will call your name and you might as well answer.  All of the baked items have a Hershey’s twist. I highly recommend a stuffed cookie sandwich.  Yum !

One of my favorite things to do on vacation is hit the best bakeries.  I love picking up delicious cupcakes filled with cream decorated to perfection! After you finish the Hershey factory tour make sure to head to the bakery!

8. Meet the Characters

Taking pictures with chocolate bars needs to be added to your list of things to do at Hershey Chocolate World! The characters are inside Hershey chocolate factory.

Meet and Greet at Hershey Chocolate Factory Tour

Your little kids will love it! These “characters” will wave and want you to come to take a picture with them.  We saw a Hershey Chocolate Bar and a kiss. There is also a Reese’s peanut butter cup character.

These characters usually say hi only during the weekend but in the summer they will greet you as you being your Hershey factory tour most days of the week.

9. Hershey Park Chocolate Factory Photo Op

All around the store are picture-perfect photo opps.  You can seriously get some great Instagram-worthy shots in this store!

If you want a free thing to do at Hershey Chocolate World, just walk around a take picture!

Seasonal Photos at Hershey Chocolate World

  • Picture with Santa
  • Picture with the Easter Bunny

10. Hershey Factory Tour Hands-on Workshop

Price: $14.95

One of the coolest things for families to do at Hershey Chocolate World is the hands-on family workshops.

One of the most popular workshops is decorating a huge Hershey Kiss! There are other workshops offered seasonally. During Easter, there is a kit available that comes with cookies from the bakery that you can decorate.  You can decorate these kits in the store or take them home.

Are you Ready to Visit and Go on a Hershey Chocolate Tour?

Hopefully, this has given you a few ideas of all the fun things to do a Hershey Chocolate World.  I highly recommend the Hershey chocolate tour and enjoying some delicious Hershey chocolate.
