Places to visit in italy.
To help you on your Italy trip from Dubai, we have compiled a list of the 10 best places to visit while you are in Italy:-
The city that is most synonymous with Italy has to be its capital - Rome. It has always been an important settlement as history would indicate. It was the capital of the Roman empire back in the day and in the modern-day, it serves as the capital city of Italy. Located in the country’s central region of Lazio, Rome is both historic and modern at the same time. It is most popular for housing the Vatican city and ancient roman architecture. There are several attractions to visit here. It wouldn’t be wrong to claim that it may take weeks for anyone visiting here to take in all that Rome has to offer. Some of the biggest attractions here are - Colosseum, the Forum of Augustus, Capitoline Hill, and the Roman Forum. The list of attractions doesn’t end here, with the outskirts being - “ Old Rome “. The attractions here include Pantheon, marvellous cathedrals, and architecture from the Renaissance period. Of course, one cannot forget the Vatican city while in Rome and all that entails. One must not skip out on the Sistine Chapel, St Peter’s Basilica, and the Apostolic Plaza while at this holy city. With so much on offer, no trip to Italy is complete without the inclusion of Rome. This makes Italy Rome Florence Venice package one of the hot commodities online.
Florence is the capital of Tuscany. There probably isn’t enough that can be said about the historical and cultural importance of this city throughout the history books. Roughly speaking, Florence can be described as a massive outdoor museum owing to the sheer number of art and architectural riches that can be found here. It is observed all over the world as the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. In addition to that, it is also credited as being the place that propagated several influential people from streams like science, art, literature, and so on. However, all these contributions are somewhat lacklustre compared to the fact the very birth of opera took place here in addition to the invention of Florin currency. The Florin currency eventually went to lift the whole of Europe out of the dark ages. Lastly, Florence was also home to the influential Medici dynasty, the lineage from which shaped the world as we know it today. Some of the biggest attractions here are the Santa Maria del Fiore church, Ufizzi art gallery, and Pitti Palace. Some of the other attractions worth visiting are the main square - "Piazza Della Signoria". The main place is home to sculptures like the Perseus, Statue of David, etcetera. This historical hotspot is also a great place to shop with the San Lorenzo market being one of the hottest hubs for shopping. With such rich history on offer, Florence is a mandatory stop on your Dubai to Italy package tour.
Ah, is there anything as romantic as Venice in Italy? Probably not. This proposition alone makes it an essential stop on your Italy package from Dubai. One of Italy's hottest destinations, Venice is a truly unique city. It is built upon lagoons surrounded by the Adriatic Sea. Venice essentially is an archipelago of 118 islands all connected by gorgeous bridges and picturesque canals. Of these waterways, the Grand Canal divides the waterway into two distinct sections. Some might be dismissive of Venice as being crowded and expensive on the pockets but a visit to this romantic city is truly worth it. With attractions like the Saint Mark’s Square and Basilica, Doge’s Palace, and Rialto Bridge, one cannot go wrong. The top activities to try here are a gondola ride along the Grand Canal or a ride to the Vaporetti. The best time to schedule your trip to Venice is during the festivals. People take to the waterways and they are filled with colourful boats and gondolas which make them quite a spectacle.
Best Italy tour packages never skip out on Pompeii, and for good reason too. Pompeii is the modern tourist’s gateway to the ancient Roman world. Located near Naples, Pompeii was historically a famous Roman city that has been preserved and frozen in time. The eruption of Mt. Vesuvius caused this town to be buried under multiple feet of volcanic ash. What was once a bustling settlement hadn’t seen the light of day for roughly about 1700 years. The excavation of this settlement was started in the year of 1748. A visit to this ancient town gives the tourists a glimpse into life in the ancient Roman world. One can find the remains of shops, eateries, bars, homes as they walk along the streets. The most notable structures here are the Amphitheatre, the Forum, and the temple of Apollo. What’s interesting is the fact that one can enjoy the art here from the ancient period which depicts mythological characters and hunting scenes among others.
Amalfi Coast
Nothing screams an Italy holiday like the Amalfi Coast. Its otherworldly beauty is what makes it a great addition to your travel itinerary. Located in the southwestern region of Italy the 30-mile long coast of Amalfi features shimmering bays, lemon tree gardens, and plenty of beauty. Needless to say, this coast features plenty of snazzy and upmarket accommodations as well. Notable attractions on the Amalfi coast include - Positano. Positano makes for a top favourite among the options available here due to its sheer beauty. The views here comprise of pebbled beaches, pastel-hued houses, and scenic mountains. Some other towns worth visiting on your trip here are - Ravello and Furore. The former features beautiful architecture and the latter features an enchanting bay that is perfect for relaxing.
Cinque Terre
Cinque Terre means “ Five Lands ” and comprises of 5 villages; namely - Riomaggiore, Manarola, Vernazza, Monterosso and Corniglia. These five villages awash in the the shades of blue, yellow, and pink and are surrounded by lush green hills. These eye-catching sceneries all combine to form the Cinque Terre National Park. These villages are particularly famous for the wine terraces which date back hundreds of years. Each of the five villages has its unique selling points. Riomaggiore features a medieval castle and a bustling main street - “ Via Colombo ”. Coming to Manarola, this village is filled with colourful boats, swimming holes, and caves. Moving on to Vernazza, this village has a lovely nightlife scene. Lastly moving on to Monterossa and Corniglia, these villages feature beautiful beaches and sloping vineyards respectively. With the produce here of the highest quality, local cuisine is the way to go here while you are on your trip. Cinque Terre also boasts of some of the best hiking trails in all of Italy. With so much on offer for tourists, Cinque Terre is an ideal addition to your Dubai to Italy holiday package.
Located in the depths of Tuscany, Siena serves as a portal to take tourists back in time. Be it the well-preserved town center or the tradition of horse racing - “ Il Palio”, one is sure to be taken back to the middle ages here. One of the major attractions here is - Piazza Del Campo. This medieval square is most famous for the Fountain of Joy, the Palazzio Pubblico, and the Mangia Tower. One shouldn’t skip out on visiting - “ Duomo ” here as well. This Italian and Roman-style influenced cathedral with its unique elements makes for quite a sight. Of course, one cannot talk about Siena without mentioning the phenomenon which is the Palio horse race. This 700-year-old tradition involves representatives from no less than 17 districts all vying for the top spot. All these factors make Siena an Italy travel packages staple.
Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean. Owing to its location of being at crossroads, it is different compared to the rest of the nation as far as history, culture, and food options are considered. This phenomenon is best displayed in the capital city of Palermo. This town was founded 2700 years ago and has since been ruled by Romans, Arabs, Normans, and many more. All of these civilizations have left their own unique imprint on architecture and cuisine. Some of the attractions worth visiting here are - Theatre of Taormina, the Valley of the temples, and the mountaintop castles of Erice. Sicily is not only home to various architectural and historical marvels but also to marvellous landscapes. The environment here consists of rugged cliffs, secluded beaches which are just waiting to be explored. With diverse cultures available to soak in, Sicily is a worthwhile addition to Italy vacation packages.
Italian Lake District
The lake district in Italy stretches across Northern Italy. The northern end of these lakes reaches deep into the Alps and makes for attractive scenery. These sceneries teamed up with the good weather make this a popular hotspot for tourists. Lake Maggiore is situated in the west and is most famous for its lush vegetation and picturesque islands. It is most famous for Isola Bella, which is an island famed for its royal palace and immaculately maintained gardens. Lake Como is the next lake on our list here that primarily serves the affluent. The heart of this lake is home to the Bellagio - a town with a romantic setting peppered by cobbled streets and brightly coloured mansions. Lake Garda is the last entry here and for good reason too. It is Italy’s largest lake and offers a perfect blend of history, culture, and adventures. The southern end of this lake is home to "Sirmione", a resort that features historical Roman ruins, medieval age castles, and relaxing thermal baths. With such a diverse array of attractions to choose from the Italian lake district makes for a worthwhile addition to your Italy travel tour package.
Pisa is a city that still retains its former glory from the golden period when it functioned as a commercial empire during the middle ages. This city is undoubtedly most famous for the leaning tower of Pisa, but there is more to this settlement than just that one attraction. Primary among other points of interest is the Campo Dei Miracoli, also known as the - “ Field of Miracles ”. This plaza is home to some of the most remarkable works of the Italian Renaissance. Duomo Cathedral, Baptistry, and Camposanto Monument situated here make for great attractions. Beyond these architectural marvels, the Arno river are the bridges across it that make for some more great views. In addition to the architectural hubs, the city’s atmosphere is kept lively by several festivals which take place here. Celebrations like the Luminara Festival, the Regatta of the Ancient Maritime Republics boat race, and the Game of Bridge all make for great entertainment. With architectural spectacles, lively festivals, and stunning water features, Pisa makes for a great addition to your Italy vacation itinerary.

Italy Tour Packages
Italy Tour Packages from Dubai one of the world’s busiest vacation destinations, provides a wide range of experiences for visitors of all kinds. Italy, the eighth-largest nation in the world with a total land size of 3,01,340 km2, is a peninsula that protrudes into the Adriatic, Tyrrhenian, Mediterranean, and other seas from southern Europe. Its history has been significantly influenced by its position. Italy is bordered by the sea, while its interior is divided into regions by mountains. Long, thin glacial lakes can be seen strewn across the top of the nation in the Alps. The Apennines mountains extend southward across the entire peninsula from the western end of the Alps. Many of Italy’s old cities, including Rome, are located on wooded hills to the west of the Apennines. Olive, almond, and fig trees are planted in the lush plains and hot, arid coastlands of the south.
Italian architecture, art, and culture have a significant global impact since the rise of the Roman Empire. Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci are two well-known Italian artists. Italy is also the centre of the Catholic Church, which is run from the city-state of Vatican City, which is encircled by Rome. Italian society is centred around the family. Even if they have jobs, young people frequently stay at home until they are in their 30s. Parents frequently move in with their kids after retiring. Italians and their predecessors have cleared land, pastured cattle, and hunted wild animals for generations. Large areas were originally covered in forests.
But the nation’s remote locations and numerous national parks still include wilderness that has mostly escaped human habitation. Italian Alps’ lower slopes are covered in forests. Meadows that bloom in the spring with wildflowers that have been carefully adapted are located above these woodlands. During their yearly migration to Africa, millions of birds stopover in Italy to rest. Italy Tour Packages from UAE is renowned worldwide for its regional specialties. Whether you want to dine on delicious pasta, drift along a canal, hit the beach or marvel at beautiful cities, Italy has plenty to offer.
• Visit the Amalfi Coast, one of the most beautiful parts of the country and Unesco-listed as an outstanding example of a Mediterranean landscape.
• Venice is utterly unique – splash out for a gondola ride or an elegant water taxi to drift along its canals.
• Italy has myriad islands but some of its most sought after are Sardinia and Sicily.
• Rome wasn’t built in a day – nor should it be seen in one, so allow some time to explore the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum, the Sistine Chapel, the Vatican – this is the stuff of legend.
Italy enjoys a Mediterranean climate, which means hot, dry summers and cool, rainy winters. Climate varies considerably down the country - the south never gets too cold in the winter and can reach 32C regularly in the summer, while in the north winter gets very cold and summers can be hot and humid. The climate is milder on both counts in the centre of the country.
- The word Italy is derived from the Greek word ‘italos’, which means calf, and was first used to refer to the Calabria region by Greek settlers in the eighth century BC.
- Rome’s mighty Colosseum is the largest ancient building to be constructed purely for entertainment – the second and third biggest Roman amphitheatres in Italy are in Capua and Verona.
- Vatican City in the centre of Rome is the smallest official country in the world.
- Italy is home to three active volcanoes: Etna on Sicily, Stromboli in the Tyrrhenian Sea and Vesuvius on the Gulf of Naples.
- The world’s first pizzeria is believed to have opened in the southern city of Naples in the 1830s.
- The Republic of Venice was founded in 697AD and existed for 1,100 years until Napoleon abolished it in 1797.
This central region with beautiful, bustling Florence as its iconic capital is known both for its spectacular and varied scenery as well as being home to some of the most recognisable and finest Renaissance art, including Michelangelo’s statue of David and the paintings of Botticelli. Natural wonders include the rugged peaks of the Apenine mountains, ideal for serious walkers, and the rolling hills are filled with attractive olive groves and vineyards. For more serious relaxation, the island of Elba has some of Italy’s best beaches. Tuscany is also home to the historic cities of Siena and Pisa with its famous Leaning Tower.
This province to the south of Tuscany is not as well known as its more illustrious neighbour and is often referred to as Italy’s “green heart”. Umbria has the distinction of being the only province that does not have a coastline or a border with another country, which has helped to maintain many centuries-old traditions such as making pasta by hand. Umbria is home to a host of picturesque medieval hill towns, while natural attractions include forests, meadows, and the imposing Monti Sibillini, which marks the border with the neighbouring Le Marche province. Local cuisine features truffles, cured meats and wines.
Amalfi Coast
Located south of Naples in the Campania region, this 50-kilometre stretch of coast is full of spectacular volcanic cliff-tops, pretty historic towns, terraced vineyards, lemon groves and palatial villas. Sorrento, perched on top of one of these dramatic cliffs, is the main city in the region and an ideal touring base for a few days. The Amalfi Coast is home to some of Italy’s finest restaurants and hotels, and it also has some of the best walking trails to take in more of the scenery. The islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida can be visited easily on day trips on boat.
This region in the far southeast of the Italian mainland is often referred to as being the heel of Italy’s “boot”. It also offers a less touristy coastal experience than the Amalfi Coast – the province has the longest stretch of coastline in the country with the Gargano peninsula being a popular option for visiting Italian tourists. Puglia’s landscape is dotted with pretty whitewashed hill towns while Lecce has been dubbed “Florence of the South” for its baroque architecture. The region’s major gateway is the university city of Bari – the port city is known for its lively nightlife.
The largest island in the Mediterranean is located just off the “toe” of the Italian mainland’s boot. Sicily is a mixture of natural and man-made attractions with Mount Etna, one of Europe’s most active volcanoes that erupts regularly, dominating the eastern side of the island. Sicily enjoys a rich human history reflected in attractions such as the Valley of the Temples, built by the ancient Greeks in Agrigento, while the former royal chapel Cappella Palatina in the capital Palermo houses Byzantine mosaics. Sicily has a rich cuisine of its own that includes specialities such as pasta alla Norma and cassata, a traditional Sicilian cake.
Italy’s second biggest island lies to the south of Corsica (part of France) and has more than 2,000 kilometres of coastline and beaches, with the backdrop of the azure waters of the Mediterranean. The Emerald Coast is one of the most popular stretches with 80 bays and coves to explore, including the upmarket yacht marina of Porto Rotondo. This pretty coast contrasts with a rugged mountain interior with plenty of walking trails for active visitors. The island is also home to thousands of beehive-shaped ruins known as nuraghi, dating back to the Bronze Age.
The Tuscan capital was the home to the Renaissance in the 15th century when a group of writers, artists and scientists led this cultural revolution. Florence’s most compelling sights include the Duomo cathedral with its red-tiled dome, the medieval stone bridge Ponte Vecchio and the 13th century Palazzo Vecchio or town hall. It’s a haven for art lovers with Michelangelo’s David statue housed in the Galleria dell’Accademia and the Uffizi Gallery most famous for being the home of Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus” painting as well as many other Renaissance masterpieces. Florence is also famous for its fashion designers including Gucci and Roberto Cavalli.
Italian is undoubtedly one of the world’s great cuisines and its many regional delicacies make the country a delight for food-lovers. The northern province of Lombardy is renowned for its rice-based risottos, while Bologna in the Emilia-Romagna region is famed for the ubiquitous Bolognese sauce, Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and balsamic vinegar. Dishes such as spaghetti carbonara and bruschetta originally came from the capital Rome and the Tuscan city Florence is best known for its T-bone steak and the ever popular pizza comes from the southern city of Naples, which is also home to buffalo mozzarella. Sardinia’s cuisine makes the most of the plentiful seafood including bream, mullet, sea bass and lobster.
Italy has a long and deep-rooted culture that revolves around the family, religion, food, music, arts and architecture. The country has the biggest collection of Unesco-listed heritage sites in the world - 51 Italian locations on the list - and plenty of iconic sights such as Rome’s Colosseum, Vatican City’s Sistine Chapel and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Italy is also home to many fine museums and music - particularly opera - is a key component of its cultural life. Passionate Italians are very family-orientated with extended gatherings being held frequently.
The country’s location in the centre of Europe and the Mediterranean has created a very diverse range of wildlife – there are an estimated 57,000 species in Italy. The national park, Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, in central Italy is home to some of the most endangered species including the Marsican bear, Abruzzo chamois, Apennine wolf, lynx and deer. Italy is also great for birdwatching because it lies on the migration route between Europe and Africa – some of the best places to see them include the Sorrento peninsula, Po delta and the island of Sardinia. The Ligurian sea off the northwestern coast is one of the best places to watch marine life including dolphins and whales.
Italy’s early history was intertwined with that of the ancient Roman Empire that endured from 753BC when according to legend, the city was founded by Romulus. The mighty empire lasted until 476AD when Rome fell to the Goths. The country was later dominated by the Roman Catholic church and the emergence of the merchant-based “city states” during the medieval centuries. This was followed by the cultural Renaissance period with its focus on arts and science between the 14th and 16th centuries. The Republic of Italy was only formed in 1849 and the country was one of the six original founders of the European Economic Community, which later became the European Union, in 1957.
The northern city is very much at the heartbeat of modern Italy with its financial district and rich industrial history – it is also a major hub for fashion and design.
Milan may lack the historic and scenic pleasures of other Italian cities but its gothic cathedral, the Duomo, is one of the most imposing buildings in the country with its 135 spires dominating the skyline.
Culture and art is alive and well in Milan with the Santa Maria delle Grazie convent housing Leonardo da Vinci’s famous The Last Supper mural and the 18th century La Scala opera house being one of the most iconic performing venues in Italy.
Milan is also home to two of football’s most famous clubs and rivals: AC Milan and Internazionale. Both teams play in the city’s San Siro stadium.
The Eternal City is packed with some of the world’s most iconic sights including the Roman ruins of the Colosseum and Forum as well as Vatican City – home to the domed St Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel containing Michelangelo’s legendary frescoes.
The narrow alleys and charming piazzas of Rome’s old city make it a great place to explore on foot with the baroque splendour of the Trevi Fountain, which featured in the classic Italian movie La Dolce Vita, at the centre.
Rome is built on a series of hills so it’s worth heading for these heights to get panoramic views of the skyline dominated by St Peter’s.
The northeastern city’s canals and historic architecture make Venice another of Italy’s classic attractions and a must-see experience. Venice is built on more than 100 small islands linked by 170 canals spread across a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. The Grand Canal offers one of the best views in the world with its Renaissance and Gothic palaces, as well as the central point of the city, Piazza San Marco (Saint Mark’s Square), with its massive clock tower and Doge’s Palace. Venice also hosts a series of world-renowned festivals throughout the year. Taking a classic gondola ride may seem a bit of a cliché - but it’s got to be done.
This former Roman city in the Campania region of southern Italy near Naples is famous for being buried in volcanic ash and pumice stone when the nearby volcano Vesuvius erupted with cataclysmic results in 79AD. The fact that Pompeii was buried rather than being destroyed means that much of the ancient city is remarkably well preserved and gives visitors the chance to walk the streets, wander into the tiny houses and see the temples and amphitheatres of a genuine Roman settlement. This makes Pompeii one of the most fascinating archaeological attractions in the world and a must-see for anybody interested in Roman history.
Italian Lakes
This gorgeous group of grand lakes in northern Italy, which includes Lake Garda, Lake Como and Lake Maggiore, has been attracting famous visitors for centuries including literary legends such as Lord Byron and Goethe. This natural beauty is matched by historic villages, stunning castles and monasteries, as well as sprawling villas and pristine gardens. There are plenty of activities in this region for the energetic traveller too, such as swimming, canoeing, rock-climbing, mountain biking and horse-riding. The lakes are also located close to the metropolis of Milan with its shopping, museums and art galleries. The region’s top-quality restaurants are renowned for their fish dishes including whitefish, trout and white bass caught by local fishermen.

“Uffizi Gallery in Florence is a world class museum with an incredible renaissance art collection. Enjoy a guided tour with a Local Specialist to make the experience more memorable, especially when in front of Botticelli’s stunning ‘Birth of Venus’ painting”
Pino, Travel Director
See Michelangelo's frescoed ceiling in the Sistine Chapel
One of the most important structures of the Catholic faith, the Vatican City’s Sistine Chapel is a must-see on a tour of Italy. Though the chapel walls have witnessed centuries of worship, it’s the renaissance ceiling paintings of Michelangelo that will leave you in awe.
Visit the glamorous Isle of Capri
Enjoy the classic Italian summer in Italy’s picture-perfect Gulf of Naples. Famed for its crystal grottos, dramatic coastlines and endless glamour, our trips to Italy are complete with a day of freedom spent under a striped umbrella, watching sailboats pass by.
Cruise your way through Venice
The charm found in the canals of Venice is nothing short of irresistible. Admire gothic palaces and postcard bridges whilst adrift in a gondola, gaining an understanding of life in a city that floats. Exploring a city by foot will never be the same after a trip to Venice.
Journey to the well-preserved ruins of Pompeii
An unfathomable history lesson is found in the archaeological ruins of Pompeii. Buried and preserved by the ash of a volcano eruption in the year 79, in this Italian town you will discover the progressive life of early Roman times as you walk within the parameters of an open-air time capsule of life on Earth.
Go shopping in Italy's fashion capital Milan
Armani, Gucci, Prada and Versace. These are some of the prestigious fashion brands that call the Italian city of Milan home. In between yearning through boutiques and department stores, stop to sample the city’s delicacies like breaded veal cutlet and ossobuco.
Our top 5 things to do in Italy
It's the moments of quiet stillness that take your breath away on a Trafalgar tour through Italy. Sitting in the calm halls of the Vatican. Floating on the canals of Venice. Standing beside the ruins of Pompeii.
Uffizi Gallery
The Tuscan capital is home to Uffizi Gallery, where the brushworks of art’s true masters are found. Names like Raffaello, Leonardo, and Michelangelo dress Uffizi’s grand pink walls, whilst internal courtyards leading to the Arno River will show you the building’s architectural brilliance.
Vatican Museums
A collection of Christian artwork that spans centuries and stirs the soul is found in Rome’s Vatican Museums. From the intricate ceiling by Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel to the detailed Pope portraits from the 16th century to today, you will be lost for words once inside this blessed museum complex.
Doge's Palace
Home to the leader of Venice from its opening in 1340, Doge’s Palace summarizes the sparkle of this city. An opulent example of Venetian Gothic architecture and home to numerous historical works, this museum is a must when you visit Venice.
Best museums in Italy
The epicenter of the Catholic faith and the birthplace of art’s most renowned masters. Our guided tours of Italy will take you to the many museums found here, whether in the Sistine Chapel, by the canals of Venice or in the grand galleries of Tuscany.
The authentic carbonara experience will take place in Rome, covered in salty Pecorino Romano cheese. A simple dish inspiring heart-warming meal times, this pasta will connect you with Italy’s rich culinary customs - an impressive evolution from its supposed heritage as a coal-miner’s meal.
Pollo alla Cacciatora
Literally translating to ‘hunter’ in Italian, cacciatore offers an appreciation for Italy’s meals of days gone by. Typically a preparation of rabbit or chicken, it’s the simmering tomato stew that makes this dish so mouthwatering. Satisfy a genuine hunger and consume with hand-ripped bread.
Italy tours are best served with an oversized slice of tiramisu. Cementing this country's obsession with espresso, this cake of layered biscuits soaked in coffee is the perfect after hours pick-me-up before an evening stroll through the charming streets.
Best food in Italy
A date with Italian food will likely start and end with a slice of pizza. But it’s the menu items that we share with you in between that will take your appreciation to new heights; think cacciatore and Carbonara with a slice of tiramisu in between.
What to pack for Italy
A classic linen outfit
The Italians are famous for their equal parts glamorous and effortless dress sense. Look the part with a few ensembles featuring classic linens in navy and white.
A blank journal
With the wealth of inspiration tucked into every corner of Italy, you might find yourself compelled to write down notes or memories. At the very least to remember the traditional Italian recipes you learn.
With such a large expanse of space to explore, on some days, long journeys are unavoidable. The scenery will provide plenty of visual entertainment, while headphones can be used to listen to some local music or enjoy podcasts about Italian history, culture and politics when you're not enjoying the storytelling from your Travel Director.
A small blanket
When exploring the soul-stirring setting of Tuscany, a picnic may call. Come prepared with a small blanket to cover in wine and cheese.
Under the Tuscan Sun by Frances Mayes
A classic memoir that brought the romance of Tuscany to the world, there’s no better time to read this book than when venturing through the country yourself.
Pack for sustainable travel
Consider your environmental impact when you next take a trip and go single-use-plastic-free by packing a reusable water bottle, a steel straw, your own shopping bags and reusable toiletry bottles.

All-inclusive winter sun ideas for luxury seekers
Hoping to escape a cold and grey UK? Get your fix of five-star treatment – and vitamin D! – at one of these opulent resorts
Going all-inclusive isn’t only for those wanting a cheap holiday . Aimed at guests looking to splurge on a luxury getaway , some of the world’s most lavish hotels offer package stays that include exceptional dining, world-class fitness and wellbeing facilities, and stylish accommodation.
And while intricately plotting a travel itinerary and seeking out off-the-beaten-track local gems is fun and exciting, booking an all-inclusive holiday has plenty of merits too. For instance, if you’re short on planning time, opting for a package holiday , where flights, transfers, accommodation, food and drink is all provided for, can save hours of research and booking admin. Having a renowned travel operator or resort sort all the finer details of your holiday simple and stress-free.
Of course, true luxury doesn’t come cheap, but choosing an all-inclusive package at a five-star hotel can often be great value, compared to booking every element of your trip separately.
And if you’re concerned about getting bored spending every day and evening at your hotel, worry not. Countless premium resorts boast several pools, dazzling private beaches as well as multiple onsite bars and restaurants. You’ll also find high-end spas offering superb treatments, sports facilities, yoga studios and so much more.
So, if you’re looking to beat the British winter blues somewhere utterly spectacular, we’ve rounded up our favourite all-inclusive winter sun spots for a luxury escape. From Gran Canaria to the Caribbean , soak up those wintertime rays in style…
Cape Verde is an archipelago comprised of ten volcanic islands that sits just off the coast of West Africa. The landscape here is a mix of towering green mountains, luscious floral valleys, and golden-sand coastline, attracting beach bums from all over globe.
From November to February temperatures sit at a balmy 22-24 degrees and there's a high chance of sunshine every day, so Cape Verde makes for a brilliant winter sun holiday destination.
For a big dose luxury – think exclusive seafront swimming pool, state of the art gym and chic bedrooms – book an all-inclusive stay at the Melia Llana, where a breakfast buffet, lunch, dinner, local-brand booze and soft drinks are all part of your package. Located on Sal, the most visited of Cape Verde's islands, the pristine beach and sparkling azure water here will leave winter blues long forgotten.
Gran Canaria
Despite being part of Spain, the Canary Islands are situated nearer Africa's mainland, with Morocco being their nearest neighbour geographically. As a result, the islands have a subtropical climate and boast around 320 days of sunshine each year.
Gran Canaria, the third largest of the Canaries, has long been a winter sun hotspot thanks to its white sand beaches and balmy weather. Temperatures from November to February average at a comfortable 18-21 degrees.
Located in Maspalomas, a town in the south of Gran Canaria, the Maspalomas & Tabaiba Princess resort has tropical feel, with palm trees lining pathways and thatched canopies dotted around the outside lounging areas.
There are five alluring restaurants and as many bars, six swimming pools and an extensive spa. If you can tear yourself away from all this, take a day trip to nearby Maspalomas Natural Dune Reserve.
Dominican Republic
From November to February, the weather in the Dominican Republic, a Caribbean country occupying one half of Hispaniola (Haiti occupies the other half), is at its most consistent and temperatures average at 30 degrees each day.
On Dominican Republic's easternmost tip is Punta Cana, a vibrant resort town with nearly 20 miles of white-sand beaches, all lapped by warm, crystal-clear waters.
Punta Cana brims with luxury all-inclusive hotels, one of which is the magnificent Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana. An enticing swimming pool snakes its way through the lush gardens of this beach-front resort, which offers guests access to over 25 bars and restaurants in total. Fancy a pampering treatment? The on-site spa uses products by UK natural beauty company Pevonia.
Just the thought of Mexico conjures up images of endless sunshine, breath-taking beaches and an abundance ice-cold tequila cocktails. Make this your reality come winter, which is said to be the best time to visit.
From December to March weather conditions in Mexico are reliable; temperatures sit at a manageable mid-20s and the sea is delightfully warm, too. Located in Playa del Carmen, a town on Mexico's Riviera Maya coastline, The Fives Beach Hotel & Residences is a stunning all-inclusive option. Facing onto the Caribbean Ocean, the resort has seven pools, 11 restaurants serving a mix of global cuisines, tennis courts, a luxury spa and a dedicated wellness area for al fresco yoga, Pilates and meditation sessions.
For a taste of the area’s cultural heritage, there’s a Mayan Trail within walking distance of the hotel.
Another brilliant winter sun destination in Central America is Costa Rica. Thanks to its tropical climate, temperatures hover at 27 degrees from November through to February. The driest month in Costa Rica is January thanks to almost zero rainfall and month-long sunshine.
For a proper escape from the daily grind back home, head to Playa Matapalo on the country’s north-west coast. Green forest and voluptuous mountains are the backdrop to this paradisiacal stretch of beach, which is home to hotel Riu Palace Costa Rica.
Overlooking the water, this spacious resort offers five-star facilities with a boutique vibe. Guests have access to a series of swimming pools (sit on one of the sunken water loungers to stay cool while sipping on a guaro sour), numerous dining venues, tennis courts and plenty of water sports equipment.
If you fancy some calm before the whirlwind of the Christmas period, Morocco can offer a serene, sun-filled escape.
While most of the country enjoys sunshine and warm weather year-round, November offers temperatures of around 19-20 degrees, which are ideal for exploring and sunbathing without the sweatiness.
Five-star Riu Palace Tikida Taghazout perches on peaceful Taghazout Bay, which is located on the west coast of Morocco in an area best known for its sandy beaches, peak surfing conditions and spectacular sunsets.
This sprawling luxury resort has a private beach front, seven swimming pools (two of which are adult-only infinity pools), four delectable restaurants, six bars, a spa and a gym. For the ultimate treat, plump for a junior suite with private terrace and swim-up access from one of the pools.
This small but mighty Caribbean island offers more than just Instagram-worthy beaches. St Lucia’s UNESCO-listed Pitons (two mountainous volcanic spires) offer plenty of hiking and wildlife excursions, while the country’s cacao farms produce world-renowned chocolate and host brilliant tasting tours.
If putting your feet up on a relaxing winter break is top of your agenda however, St Lucia will deliver. With very little rainfall and temperatures reaching highs of 27 degrees in November to February, the luxurious beach-front resort of Calabash Cove is the perfect place to spend a week or two stretched out on a sun lounger.
A ten-min drive from St Lucia's vibrant capital, Castries, adult-only Calabash Cove has a private beach, infinity pool with swim-up bar, a handful of fantastic restaurants and a luxury spa. Accommodation includes suites with a sea view, balcony and private jacuzzi. Talk about splashing out...
While Egypt has sizzling summers, it’s wintery months are delightfully temperate, making it a brilliant winter sun holiday destination. January is said to be the driest month, with minimal chance of rain and daily temperatures of around 21-22 degrees.
Sharm el-Sheikh, a city nestled between the Sinai Peninsula desert and the glittering Red Sea, is a popular spot for luxury holiday seekers. Sharm, as it's referred to by locals, has a charming centre, beautiful coastline and offers easy to access to the nearby sand dunes.
At the five-star Sunrise Arabian Beach Resort Grand Select, you can stroll along a private stretch of amber-coloured sand, dip in the turquoise sea and switch off in sunset meditation classes. There are 18 bars and restaurants, six pools, a jam-packed programme of daily activities and a spa complete with an Arabian hammam.
Sharm's coastlines are home to hundreds of coral reefs, which you can explore as part of the resort's scuba excursions, too.
Start the new year in sunshine with a winter escape to Thailand. Peak season in Thailand runs from December to March, but January and February are known to be the driest months, and temperatures average at 28 degrees daily.
There are almost too many must-see places in Thailand: the street food markets and temples of electric Bangkok, the elephant sanctuaries of Chiang Mai, the spectacular diving reefs of Koh Tao… The list could go on.
If you're looking to enjoy Thailand’s serene side, however, a stay at Avista Hideaway Resort & Spa is just the ticket. On a hilltop on the island of Phuket, surrounded by mountains and leafy gardens, this modern resort has two infinity pools overlooking the Andaman Sea, several restaurants, a series of swim-up bars, and a peaceful library to sit back and devour your holiday reads. The on-site Jivana Wellness centre specialises in traditional Thai massage, too.
With a tropical desert climate, Dubai is warm and sunny all year round. Roasting-hot summer mean it's best visited from November to March though, when temperatures will be a delightful 19-25 degrees (as opposed to 30-40!).
Dubai is the city with second-most five-star hotels in the world (London has the most), so, along with sunshine, you'll find luxury in spades here.
For an all-inclusive holiday you won't forget in a while, book a winter sun stay at Rixos The Palm Dubai Hotel & Suites. This five-star hotel is located on the tip of Dubai's Palm Crescent and has views out to the Arabian Gulf as well as the city, including the the iconic, sail-shaped Burj Al Arab.
All-inclusive guests can dine at the grand buffet restaurant and three à la carte venues, sip cocktails at the poolside and swim-up bars, and partake in stand-up paddling boarding, sunset yoga or a spot of tennis.

An "urgent review" into dynamic pricing has been launched as the backlash from the price of Oasis concert tickets continues.
The Competition and Markets Authority said it was looking into the ticketing market to make sure consumers were being treated fairly.
Oasis fans were disappointed at the weekend when tickets for their reunion tour more than doubled while on sale due to dynamic pricing systems.
Tickets shot up from £148 to £355 on Ticketmaster within hours of their release - and while fans were stuck in long online queues.
Dynamic pricing is common within industries beyond music - it's used frequently in the travel industry, with hotel rooms and airline tickets.
"The CMA is urgently reviewing recent developments in the ticketing market, including the way dynamic pricing is being used in the primary market," a CMA spokesperson said.
They noted that consumer protection law requires businesses to be fair and transparent in their dealings with consumers.
They are also required to give clear and accurate information about the price people have to pay.
"The CMA wants fans to get a fair deal when they buy tickets," they added.
"We have already acted against major resale websites on the secondary market to ensure consumer law is being followed.
"But we think more protections are needed for consumers here, and made recommendations to the previous government in 2021 about the changes that are needed."
The government has promised to look into dynamic ticket pricing, with Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy saying it would be reviewed in an upcoming consultation.
Female founders have been dealt a "blow" after Innovate UK delivered just half the number of grants pledged in a funding competition for women business owners.
The Women in Innovation programme was aimed at encouraging women leading small to medium-sized businesses to apply for grants of up to £75,000 each.
The government-backed agency said it would be offering the grants to 50 female founders when it launched the competition earlier this year - but subsequently changed the wording to say "up to 50".
Only 25 ended up being chosen to receive funding, out of 1,452 applicants.
Dearbump and Femtech founder Emma Jarvis said in a LinkedIn post that the situation will have left many female entrepreneurs "pretty disheartened"
The post has been shared more than 100 times and has garnered nearly 830 reactions.
"Innovate UK's decision is a blow not just to existing female founders but future ones," Ms Jarvis said. "It's really disappointing to hear that the number of awards was cut in half and that the wording was changed after the results were announced."
She said the "only way forward" was for Innovate UK to honour its original commitment of 50 awards.
Meanwhile, Patricia McGirr, Repossession Rescue founder , said female founders "deserve more than lip service".
She said Innovate UK's decision "isn't just trimming fat, it's cutting opportunity and ambition".
"This broken promise to the women fuelling our future is a step backward for innovation and a slap in the face to countless women who dare to lead."
And Debbie Porter, managing director at Destination Digital Marketing , said the move was "hard to believe".
"Innovate UK ought to go back over those 1,427 other applications as a matter of priority to fix this situation," she said.
In a statement to the Money blog, Innovate UK apologised and said its decision was a "mistake". It also said it would honour its original commitment to award 50 applicants with funding.
The added: "We recognise the impact this has had on the many applicants and on the community as a whole, and we apologise wholeheartedly.
"We confirm we will be funding a total of 50 awards."
Our Money blog reporter Jess Sharp spoke to women who are leading figures in their respective fields for our eight-part Women in Business series earlier this year. You can read some of their stories here...
Chancellor Rachel Reeves has refused to rule out heavier taxation on pensions in the October budget.
"I'm not going to speculate on what will be in the budget, but I'm absolutely determined to ensure that working people are better off," she told MPs in the House of Commons.
"This budget will be a budget to fix the foundations of the economy after the mess left by the previous government."
How could your pension be taxed further? Let's have a look at some of the possibilities...
Leading left-wing thinktank The Fabian Society said the government could raise at least £10bn a year by reducing pension tax relief for high earners.
At the moment, pension tax relief depends on an individual's tax band.
But Ms Reeves could create a single flat rate of tax relief for all tax bands, the society said.
"First, the rate of income tax relief should be equalised for people on all tax bands - for example at 30% of gross earnings, midway between the 20p and 40p rates of tax," the thinktank said in a report.
Ms Reeves could also reduce the maximum tax-free lump sum you can get on retirement from £268,275 to £100,000 or 25% of pension wealth.
"The Institute for Fiscal Studies estimates that this might eventually save over £2bn per year, which would be targeted entirely at people with high lifetime earnings or assets," the report added.
Another suggestion was to charge national insurance on private pension incomes .
The organisation said it would lead to today's affluent pensioners making a higher tax contribution.
Other possibilities could be to levy income tax on all inherited pensions.
It said pension pots could also be liable to inheritance tax in the same way as other assets.
What else did the chancellor say today?
Away from refusing to rule out pension tax changes, Ms Reeves also confirmed a cap on corporation tax.
Speaking during Treasury questions, she said the tax would be capped at its current level of 25% to "give business the confidence to grow".
Corporation tax applies to the annual profits of UK resident companies and branches of overseas companies.
The 25% main rate is payable by companies with taxable profits above £250,000.
A small profits rate applies for companies with profits of £50,000 or below, meaning they will pay 19%.
Up until April 2023, the previous corporation tax main rate was 19%.
After the revival of popular Cadbury's chocolate bar Top Deck earlier this year, we asked you which discontinued treat you would like to see brought back - and we got so many responses that we've decided to make a weekly feature of it called Bring It Back .
Every Tuesday, we'll pick one from our comments box and look at why it was so beloved and, crucially, find out whether the companies in question might consider reintroducing them.
This week we're looking at a chocolate bar that became a staple of lunch boxes in the 1980s and '90s - and spawned a TV advert that is among the most fondly remembered of the era: McVitie's Trio.
Sold in multipacks of six, each bar included three segments made up of a caramel layer over biscuit, all covered with milk chocolate.
The product became synonymous with a memorable commercial that featured an animation by artist Bob Godfrey and a play on the traditional Jamaican folk song "Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)".
Its lyrics, which will be familiar to almost anyone who grew up in the 1980s, included the bar's tagline: "I want a Trio and I want one now."
Having discontinued the product in 2003, it briefly returned to shop shelves in 2016 following a Facebook campaign, before vanishing from sale again shortly after.
Hordes of Sky News readers have called for the chocolate bar's revival.
Kellie said: "I'd love to have Trios back! They were yummy. McVitie's really need to start selling them again."
Derek told us: "What a chocolate bar the Trio was! I could eat an entire multipack in one sitting now if given the chance. And that old advert... instantly transported back to childhood just thinking about it."
Samantha said: "I can hear the jingle in my head now! Trios were just delicious chocolate bars... and we want one now!"
When asked by Sky News, a McVitie's spokesperson conspicuously declined to rule out a return for the iconic chocolate treat, saying the company was "constantly listening to what audiences want".
"This helps us to keep innovating and adapting to changing tastes, meaning more biscuits and snacks you love for generations to come," they said.
"For those who miss the caramel taste of Trio, one of our newest and most exciting innovations, McVitie's Gold Billions Wafer, will be your new favourite for on-the-go chocolate moments."
And, tantalisingly for fans of the bar, they added: "Watch this space for more to come..."
Along with the legions of Trio diehards, the Money blog will certainly be doing that - and hope to bring you news of further developments in the crusade in the near future.

NatWest has launched the cheapest five-year fixed mortgage deal on the market.
The 3.71% rate comes with a £1,495 product fee and is available to customers who have a 40% deposit.
Other lenders have also announced cuts this week, including Barclays and Halifax.
Yesterday, Barclays reduced its five-year fixed 60% LTV remortgage deal from 4.06% to 3.93%.
It also announced cuts across its purchase product range, with a five-year fixed 75% LTV deal coming with a 3.95% rate and a £899 product fee.
Halifax also launched a 3.81% five-year deal to new borrowers yesterday.
Brokers have welcomed the cuts as "hugely positive" news, and suggested more lenders could follow suit.
"NatWest's latest rate cut is another clear signal that mortgage lenders are pulling out all the stops to reignite the housing market," Ranald Mitchell, director of Charwin Mortgages, told Newspage.
"This flurry of rate reductions is a positive step towards finding that sweet spot where consumer confidence rebounds, and the property market gets back on track.
"It's an exciting time for potential buyers, affordability is improving, and the window of opportunity is wide open."
Justin Moy, the managing director at EHF Mortgages, said: "Lenders are looking to grab some market share by the end of the year.
"Other lenders will likely want to make a similar move over the coming days to remain competitive."

It's a fairly muted start to the day's trading, again, on financial markets.
The FTSE 100 has opened 10 points higher at 8,373.
Rolls-Royce, the civil aerospace-to-defence firm (not to be confused with the luxury motor car manufacturer), is leading the gainers.
Its shares rallied by 4% early this morning after a 6.5% decline the previous day.
That tumbled was in reaction to the apparent mid-air failure of one of its engines on a Cathay Pacific flight .
Analysts said that the share price recovery was down to an update from the airline that the fleet affected should be back to full operation by the weekend.
A tweet Liam Gallagher wrote seven years ago criticising the eye-watering price of gig tickets has come back to haunt him.
His message, written in September 2017 about his older brother Noel, who was touring America with his band High Flying Birds at the time, read: "350 dollars to go and see rkid in USA what a c*** when will it all stop as you were LG x"
The tweet has resurfaced after dynamic pricing for Oasis's much-hyped reunion next year left fans - many of whom had spent hours queueing online - stunned after some standard tickets more than doubled in price from £148 to £355 on Ticketmaster due to demand.
X users pointed out the irony upon seeing the 2017 tweet, posting comments including, "Well this is evergreen", "What's your excuse for charging over 368 quid then?" and "Not ageing well, Liam".

Using a phrase Liam adopts in his own social media comments, another fan wrote simply "BIBLICAL".
Hundreds of people have complained to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) over "misleading claims about availability and pricing".
In response, Sir Keir Starmer has said the government will get a "grip" on the issue of surge pricing, with Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy promising a consultation over the transparency and use of dynamic pricing, and the technology around queuing systems, to ensure fans don't get ripped off.
Yesterday we revealed that official reseller Twickets had lowered its fees after criticism from Oasis fans.
Scroll through today's Money blog for: Cheapest dates to go on holiday this year (6.42 post); how do you get free school meals (7.58 post); pay-per-mile tax proposed (7.38 post)
Basically, free school meals are aimed at making sure the country's more vulnerable youngsters don't go hungry while they're learning in their earlier years.
Children of certain ages automatically qualify without having to apply, but the rules differ across the four nations.
Children whose parents claim certain benefits or asylum support may also be eligible - though an application may be needed.
Free school meals without having to apply
In England, outside of London , all state school children in reception to year two automatically qualify for infant free school meals, while in the capital , all state primary school children up to age 11 qualify for the benefit in the 2024-25 academic year.
In Scotland , all state school children up to primary five (around four to nine years old) get the meals automatically. There are plans for this to be extended to pupils in receipt of the Scottish child payment in primary six and seven from February.
In Wales all primary school children in state schools can get free meals from September.
Families who claim benefits
If your child falls outside the eligibility criteria for automatic free school meals, they'll still be able to benefit in certain circumstances.
Wherever you are in the UK, your child may be able to get free school meals if you get one or more of the following:
- Income support
- Universal credit
- Income-based jobseeker's allowance
- Income-related employment and support allowance
- Support under part six of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The guaranteed element of pension credit
- Child tax credit
- Working tax credit (Scotland and Northern Ireland)
- Working tax credit run-on England and Wales) – paid for four weeks after you stop qualifying for working tax credit
There's some specific criteria for families by devolved nation, which we'll break down below...
England and Wales
If you're claiming universal credit, your net household income must be less than £7,400 after tax, and not including any benefits.
Those receiving child tax credit must not also be entitled to working tax credit and must have an annual income of less than £16,190.
If you're classed as having no recourse to public funds - a type of condition placed on temporary visas in the UK - and the parents are able to work, they must have a household income of no more than:
- £22,700 for families outside of London with one child
- £26,300 for families outside of London with two or more children
- £31,200 for families within London with one child
- £34,800 for families within London with two or more children
People claiming universal credit in Scotland must have a household monthly income of no more than £796 (£9,552 per year) to qualify for free school meals.
Families on child tax credit, but not working tax credit, can get the meals if they earn less than £19,995. For those on both benefits, their income must be no more than £9,552.
Northern Ireland
You may be able to claim free school meals in Northern Ireland if you receive universal credit and your post-tax earnings are £15,000 or less per year.
If you get child tax credit or working tax credit, you can still get free school meals on an annual income of up to £16,190.
How can I claim the meals?
In England, Wales and Scotland, you apply to your local council.
The UK government website has a local authority postcode checker here , which directs you to the council running services in your area. There are similar tools on the Scottish and Welsh government websites.
In Northern Ireland, you can use this form to apply directly to the government.
How many children are eligible - and how much does it cost?
According to the latest data from the Department for Education, 2.1 million pupils were eligible for free school meals in the 2023-24 academic year - 24.6% of pupils. This was a rise from 23.8% the year before.
According to the London mayor's office, it's estimated that school meals cost £13.25 per week - or £2.65 meal - on average.
It says its free school meals offer for all state-educated primary school children in the capital saves parents around £500 per year.
According to a 2023 report from the IFS, the current system of free school meals in England – both means-tested and universal provision – costs the government around £1.4bn a year.
But separate research from the Food Foundation found that expanding free school meal eligibility to all primary school students could generate around £41bn in direct benefits to students and a further £58bn to the wider economy over 20 years.

Tax receipts from petrol and diesel duty bring in £25bn for the Treasury each year - and questions have been raised about what happens as more drivers go electric.
Today, the public transport charity Campaign for Better Transport (CBT) is proposing that drivers of zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs), such as electric cars, should be charged based on how far they travel.
They are asking Chancellor Rachel Reeves to impose the pay-per-mile scheme, saying it's the solution to a "black hole" that will be created by the loss of fuel duty.
The scheme would not apply to drivers of traditionally fuelled cars.
Under the plan, drivers with a ZEV before the implementation date would be exempt, incentivising the switch to electric vehicles.
Previous governments have found the prospect of introducing per-mile charges - known as road pricing - to be too politically toxic.
But CBT claims it would have public support.

Summer may be edging towards the rear-view mirror, but that doesn't mean Britons are turning their back on sunshine.
With many looking to sort an autumn holiday, Expedia has taken a look at the best times to fly and book hotels - with savings of up to £120 if you are savvy.
Its data is based on average daily rates for lodging and flight prices between 22 September and 21 December this year.
When to book flights for
- Cheapest : 22, 23 or 24 September
- Least busy : 10 or 17 December
- Most expensive : 19, 20 or 21 December
- Busiest : 20 and 21 October
"For the best deals, travellers should look to book their flights 14 to 20 days before travel, saving them on average £120 compared to booking 91 days or more out, or saving £60 compared to booking 60-90 days out," Expedia says.
"Target the 22-29 September for travel, when average ticket prices (ATPs) for flights are shaping up to be nearly £100 cheaper than the autumn average, and £50 cheaper than summer ATPs."
When to book a hotel
- Cheapest : 20 November or 11 December
- Most expensive : 14 or 21 October
- Busiest : 23 October or 25 September
"For hotel stays, target the 3-9 November, when average daily rates are £15 cheaper per night than the seasonal average and summer stays," Expedia says.
The holiday booking site says the most popular autumn destinations have remained largely the same as last year based on the largest number of hotel searches...
- New York, USA
- Paris, France
- Edinburgh, Scotland
- Amsterdam, Netherlands
- Manchester, UK
- Tenerife, Spain
- Birmingham, UK
- Rome, Italy
Despite this, Expedia says savvy Britons are searching out "under the radar" getaway spots.
"Flight searches have surged for Brits looking to discover new, under-the-radar European cities this autumn, such as Tirana (+95%) in Albania and Bucharest (+70%) in Romania, as Brits look to stretch their budgets further by looking outside the popular city break hotspots."
The top 10 destinations with the biggest search increases are:
- Saint Malo, France
- Didim, Turkey
- Syracuse, Italy
- Beijing, China
- Palermo, Italy
- Tromso, Norway
- Brescia, Italy
- Poznan, Poland
- Tangier, Morocco
- Ischia, Italy
