Nick Cave will embark on a rare North American solo tour this fall, with Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood accompanying him on bass.

Cave’s 18-date solo jaunt kicks off Sept. 19 in Asheville and hits theaters throughout the U.S. and Canada — including stops at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre, New York City’s Beacon Theatre and Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium — before concluding with a two-night stand at Los Angeles’ Orpheum Theater on Oct. 27 and 28. Register for tickets to the solo tour now through Cave’s site .

The jaunt marks Cave’s first solo trek since his pre-Covid tour of Europe in Jan. 2020; since then, he’s either toured with his Bad Seeds or alongside longtime collaborator Warren Ellis.

Greenwood previously performed alongside Cave and Warren Ellis during that duo’s Australian tour in late 2022.

Nick Cave Announced A North American Solo Tour (Featuring One Radiohead Member) For This Fall

Danielle Chelosky

Nick Cave has been through a lot, especially after the tragic death of his son Jethro Lazenby last year. However, he revealed that performing helps him with his grief . “I was helped hugely by my audience,” he said, “and when I play now, I feel like that’s giving something back.”

So the singer is hitting the road this fall on a newly announced North American solo tour. It’ll kick off in September in Asheville, North Carolina. The run include two New York stops, as well as two Los Angeles stops. Noteworthy is that Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood will accompany Cave on bass.

Earlier this year, Cave also revealed that he’s been working on a new Bad Seeds album , so it looks like he has a lot on his plate for 2023.

Cave recently made headlines when he described the late poet and novelist Charles Bukowski as “the bukkake of bad poetry.”

“I just don’t like Charles Bukowski. In my opinion, Charles Bukowski is the ‘Bukkake of Bad Poetry’, just blowing his junk around,” he wrote on his Red Hand Files blog in comparison to a fan named Simon who drew similarities between the two. “I don’t like him. I just don’t. Not even a bit. No, not at all.”

Earlier this month, Cave launched a new installation and shop at London’s Dover Street market . It features a whole new range of products from his online store ‘Cave Things’, which includes apparel, books, homeware, prints and limited edition recordings, as well as new ‘Cave Things’ products exclusive to Dover Street Market.

He told Variety: "If anything, it’s an attempt to turn people away from an embittered, cynical view of the world. moving in the direction of God, let’s say, rather than in the other direction. It’s somehow, I guess, promoting an idea that that we are of some value as human beings, that the world has some implicit meaning, and that the world is not s*** — it’s beautiful! This has become a deeply controversial position on some level: A lot of people that write in are like, ‘No, you’ve got this wrong. This world is not that way at all, and I’ve arrived personally at this position through being damaged,’ or through a catastrophe or devastation of some kind.

“But I think the cynical view of the world is a sort of luxury that you can afford to have prior to the devastation. And the devastation either breaks you — or it turns you around to look at the world as something of extreme beauty.”

Nick believes that music "isn’t just entertainment" and he loves getting the chance to communicate with his fans

He explained: "I guess the band and I move closer to that [revival] sort of thing all the time. We’ve been making complex records about complex things, but when we get onstage, it does feel like we’re in direct communication — direct communion, I would say — with the audience. It sort of washes away some of that complexity and turns it into much more of a kind of pure emotional uplift."

The show was very good although there were sometimes uninteresting questions being asked about ‘other’ people who of course may have been important to him but if you have Nick Cave on the stage you should try to catch as much as you can from this wonderful artist. He is brilliant, funny and - surprisingly to me - a very open person who does not have any taboos and can talk about anything. It’s amazing how easily he can find the right beautiful words to describe the most complicated emotions and states of mind.

Looking forward to going to the exhibition in Copenhagen.

Nick’s performance was more accurately an experience. He built a relationship with the audience that was at times funny, compassionate, moving. At one point, after playing “Into My Arms,” he spoke with an audience member about the loss of a loved one that moved me to tears. I go to many concerts and there have been great ones, but rarely am I sobbing with deep emotions. He was gracious, generous, honest. Few like him.

Great artist and musician, conversation with Nick Cave , not the greatest show to be fair. I just really went for the music , he sang about 10 numbers , so at over £90 per ticket (that's what I paid ) so about £9 per song. I've been to better . Sorry wasn't worth the expense

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds to Return to North America on ‘Wild God’ Tour Next Spring

With a new album, Wild God , out now, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds will tour North America next year. Although Cave has toured with his red-right-hand-man Warren Ellis and made solo appearances, the full band has not visited the U.S. since 2018.

The dates, which includes appearances at arenas and theaters, kick off in Boston in April with St. Vincent serving as support for that show and the next date at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. The tour, without St. Vincent, will then wend around the country over the next month before wrapping in San Francisco.

Tickets will go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. local time on Friday, September 13th. Presales begin Tuesday at 10 a.m. local time. Full details are on a special website for the tour .

Last year, Cave told Rolling Stone how important performing live was to him. “I think the concerts I do are transcendent in nature, as is all music that involves an authentic exchange with the audience,” he said. “Sometimes, I think that music is the only place left, outside of religion, where we can have a legitimate transcendent experience.”

He added: “If you can go to a concert and be genuinely swept up by it, it makes you a better person, and it reaches up beyond… Music has the capacity to reach up beyond what we would normally expect from ourselves.”

The band is kicking off a run of European and U.K. dates later this month. Longtime Bad Seeds member Martyn Casey will not be with the group due to an illness on those dates. Radiohead’s Colin Greenwood, who supported Cave on a solo tour last year and guested on Wild God , is filling in.

Rolling Stone praised the “joyful madcap nature” of Wild God in a review . “Cave plays preacher, congregation, and god over the course of a suite of songs that are in equal measure elegiac and ecstatic,” the magazine said.

Nick Cave is coming back to Milwaukee — this time with the Bad Seeds

Portrait of Piet Levy

Nick Cave's solo show at the Riverside Theater last year made the Journal Sentinel's list of best concerts of 2023.

Now the Australian singer-songwriter is in the running for the 2025 list — and this time he's bringing the Bad Seeds with him.

Cave and his band will play the Miller High Life Theatre April 30, the Pabst Theater Group announced Friday, after teasing the show on social media, and on the Riverside Theater marquee, Tuesday.

Cave's return to Milwaukee — just his third show in town with the Bad Seeds across a four-decade run — is part of a North American tour behind Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds' "Wild God." Released late last month, it is the sixth best-reviewed album of the year, according to review aggregator Metacritic.

Tickets for Cave and the Bad Seeds in Milwaukee go on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 13 at the Riverside box office (116 W. Wisconsin Ave.) and pabsttheater.org . Prices have yet to be announced.
