Ok – it really doesn’t get any easier than this to create a cute snack for your shower. Cheese cubes on a skewer with a little decorative jungle animal (or two) and a sign. These are poked into the side of a melon. Fun – and simple!
Love this pineapple palm tree! It looks pretty simple to do too – just stack up some pineapples (have a rod to hold them straight). Next add some palm leaves on the top. Lastly, surround the base with tropical fruit. So creative – and such a dramatic display!

How To Throw A Safari-Themed Baby Shower
Welcome to the jungle!
Thereâs a lot of hard work that goes into planning the perfect baby shower . Not only do you have to find a great venue and work on a guest list that everyone will be happy with, but you also have to come up with the right theme, and then stick to it... with everything. A safari- themed baby shower is a really fun idea for the mama-to-be who loves nature or animals (or both), and is even more perfect if the parents are going to be doing a safari theme for their little oneâs nursery.
To throw a safari-themed baby shower that feels Pinterest-worthy, youâll need to put a lot of thought into every little detail. I recently threw my daughter a safari-themed birthday party (2 Wild!), so I consider myself something of an expert here, OK? The good news is that the safari theme is a popular one, so there are tons of cute options out there to choose from, whether youâre looking for the best invitations, the most creative food selections, or the most fun decorations. Check out the ideas below to get started.
We only include products that have been independently selected by Romper's editorial team. However, we may receive a portion of sales if you purchase a product through a link in this article.
Safari Baby Shower Invitations
Invitations are the first step in your party planning. Picking an on-theme invitation is important because it shows everyone exactly what to expect and sets the mood. You have some options on how to go about this:
- Opt for a calligrapher . If you have the budget for it, hire a calligrapher or similar professional to make your invitations for you. This gives you the ability to help them create a totally customized invitation, and they will typically also write out the envelopes as well, so all you have to do is put them together and send them out. Keep in mind that this is the most expensive option.
- Order invitations online. Not into the custom idea? There are tons of sites online you can order invites from, and they range from very inexpensive to more premium, depending on what youâre looking for. I personally love Minted because the prices are reasonable, and they will also address your envelopes for no extra charge.
- Go the Etsy route. For an even cheaper option and something that feels more unique, look for invites on Etsy . Lots of artists make the most adorable invitations, and many of them offer the ability to download them as a PDF for a flat rate (this is usually less than $10). From there, you can get them printed at a store like Staples and send them out yourself, or print them at home.
- Do e-vites! Evites are super easy, inexpensive (or even free), convenient, and the most sustainable option. A lot of my friends use Evite.com and it works out really well. This is also the easiest way to keep track of RSVPs.
If you do want to order your invitations online, here are some of the cutest safari options.
Safari Baby Shower Centerpieces
Get creative and DIY your own centerpieces or buy them already made. Here are some ideas to take inspiration from:
A Sand-Filled Glass Jar
Buy some glass jars, sand, fake palm leaves, and gold jungle animals (like these from Etsy ). Fill the bottoms of the tall jars with sand, throw some animals in there, and add some leaves. It looks both cute and sophisticated.
Mini Diaper Cakes
These mini diaper cakes work double duty as a fun centerpiece idea and as a gift for the mama-to-be â they can unravel them and use the diapers when baby gets here. Buy them from Etsy or craft them yourself.
Palm trees are perfect for a jungle-themed party. These donât require much else at all and theyâre super easy since they donât require any DIY.
Palm Leaves Bouquet
For something slightly more chic, get some artificial monstera leaves and put them in a slim white vase. This is simple and feels more elegant and less cutesy.
Safari Baby Shower Balloons
Balloons are an easy and relatively inexpensive way to make any room or backyard look more festive and on theme. You can either buy balloons online and blow them up yourself (just be sure to look into helium machines), or you can order them from a party store near you. I love the animal print balloons that I used at my daughterâs party (linked below), and itâs also a cute idea to get some animal-shaped ones as well. A balloon arch is always fun, and while they can take a while, theyâre worth it for the photos. Or you can hire someone to make them for you!
Safari Baby Shower Signs
Signs are a cute decoration for the entrance into whatever room or venue youâre using, and theyâre also fun to scatter along the various food and gift tables. Banners are also a great idea to add below a balloon arch or draped from a table.
Safari Baby Shower Decorations
You can also scatter some other decorations around the room. Think baby blocks with a safari theme (bonus points if they can be used as nursery room decor later on), small items like hand-held fans to place at the tables, or diaper cakes that are on-theme.
Safari Baby Shower Photo Backdrops
You obviously need to have a great spot for photos for social media! This is so fun for making memories and capturing images of your guests that youâll want later on. You can do a sign with your name and date, or something a bit more general, like leafy greens that can easily be reused for photos or an event later on.
Safari Baby Shower Games
This is a baby shower, so of course you have to have games, no matter how corny it might seem. You can keep games on theme with cute decorations that go along with them. Some cute ideas: put animal crackers in a jar and get people to guess how many, match the Disney animals to their parents, and do a jungle Price is Right. You can also rely on classics like advice cards, diaper raffles, and bingo.
Safari Baby Shower Paper Goods
If the baby shower is being held at someoneâs home or in an outdoor venue that requires you to provide utensils and plates and all of that, then youâll need to have paper goods on hand. And sure, you could opt for a solid color for everything, and thatâs totally fine. But itâs a little more fun to stay on theme. Opt for fun animal print napkins and plates, and Meri Meri offers this amazing line of creative plates and napkins as well.
Safari Baby Shower Party Favors
A small favor is expected at something like a baby shower, and they can be fun to pick out. You can go for something traditional and classic, like a candle or hand sanitizer (which is really popular right now), or something that feels more appropriate for the theme: think animal crackers in a bag or leopard print scrunchies.
Safari Baby Shower Dessert Ideas
Maybe the most fun part of the whole baby shower is coming up with a safari themed dessert table. If youâre planning on supplying desserts for the shower, there are tons of ideas out there for the cutest jungle animal treats.
Safari Animal Pretzel Sticks
Inspired by an image on Pinterest , I *painstakingly* made these pretzel sticks for my daughterâs safari party, and they were a hit. I chose to do tiger stripes, cheetah/leopard print, and zebra print. Itâs simple, but time-consuming: dip pretzels in melted chocolate (I found orange, salted caramel, and white chocolate at the craft store near me), then add the design using melted dark or milk chocolate. I used a toothpick to create these designs, and yes, it took about as long as it sounds like it would. But I think they came out so fun! And, bonus: these also work as a good edible favor.
Monkey, Lion, & Tiger Cupcakes
Inspired by the recipes for jungle cupcakes on Chelseaâs Messy Apron , I made these lion, tiger, and monkey cupcakes. These were not as hard as they seem â Iâm not a professional by any means and had no trouble doing these with my mom and aunt. Theyâre a little time-consuming, but completely worth it, because they were adorable â and delicious. I chose cupcakes instead of cake, but you can do both.
Chic Safari Cake Pops
You can buy these chic gold safari theme cake pops from Etsy , or you can make them yourself. These definitely look like a professional is necessary, so I recommend buying them if youâre not a pro at this kind of thing.
Jungle Theme Rice Krispie Treats
Another item you can buy from Etsy or make yourself is these jungle-themed Rice Krispie treats. You would decorate them with melted chocolate, which seems relatively simple, if not a little time-consuming. These are another item that look so cute on the dessert table, or can easily be wrapped up and sent off as edible party favors.
Jungle Cookies
Custom decorated cookies like these are always a popular option. They taste good and look so amazing. You can buy these from Etsy , or you can try creating them yourself. This palm leaf and animal set is adorable, but the options here are really endless.

Safari Baby Shower Ideas: Planning a Safari-Themed Celebration
Planning a baby shower can be almost as exciting as the execution! There are many ideas, and when following a Safari Baby Shower theme, the number of animals and colors that can be included is nearly endless. From decorations to gifts, food, and activities, there are so many Safari Baby Shower ideas to choose from.
With many options available there are sure to be many opportunities to choose from alternatives for decorations, foods, and activities that will fit an elegant party, a kid or family-friendly party, or a lighthearted gathering. The expecting mother is sure to appreciate all of the efforts and will remember her Safari baby shower with fondness as they watch the child grow.
Safari Baby Shower Ideas – Decorations
Safari Baby Shower decorations really begin with what invitations you choose, as these will set the tone for the guests right from the start. For a safari themed Baby Shower choose invitations that are in green, tan, and natural colours. Safari invitations can be matched to balloons, banners, and much more.
Banners are a great way to share joy and greet people as they enter. Choose one that has baby animals on it, real or cartoon, and announce âcongratulationsâ, or âwelcomeâ or even that has the babyâs name and the month that they are due. Banners can be all one piece or they can be created with a string of flags, letters, or balloons.
Place settings add to the theme and help to create a cohesive appearance. Plates, napkins, and cups can all be themed. For a safari Baby Shower theme choose items that have images of animals on them, ideally baby animals for the baby shower. For added interest, cups can be located that are shaped like animals, for example, elephant cups with their trunk as the handle. These will please even the most serious party guests.
For easy and fun decorations, and even to use as a gift suggestion, use stuffed animals that are animals you would find on a safari, giraffes, elephants, lions, tigers, etc. They can be placed around the room and used as a game later, or they can be all piled in one space like a hammock or scene. Ask guests to bring a copy of their childhood favorites to add to the special occasion.
Small plastic toy animals are ideal for this theme and can be placed around the table or hidden as surprises around the entire space. They are also perfect for putting on top of cake or cupcakes.
Use a tablecloth that is in the colors that match, a dark green or light green, tan, brown, or in animal print for added fun. The tablecloth will not only protect the surface of your table but add to the overall appeal of the space.
A safari theme backdrop can be used to make a great photography space. These can be as large or small as you want and can be hung on a wall inside or outside. Set up some props including animal masks, balloons, stuffed animals, and a camera to allow your guests to pose in front of it for both decoration and a fun activity to memorialize the event.

Safari gear, such as helmets, all-terrain vehicles, boots, and clothing can all be used to place around the room or even dress a scarecrow for added interest.
Balloons in the themed colors can be grouped near areas of interest such as the gift table, the snack table, and a guestbook to help guide visitors to all the areas that they should be sure to visit and can even mark the way to the bathroom for those guests who are not familiar with the home.

Leaves, palm trees, and sand are all associated with safari and can be added to the theme. Stand some fake palm trees around the space, and add some other large-leafed trees, real or artificial, to create a full safari immersion feeling. Bringing in elements of the environment can help people to settle into the theme and enjoy it even more.
A safari themed balloon arch is a great way to create a focus in the room and when made with dark green light green, browns, and other neutral and calm tones will fit the theme and feel of your Safari baby shower. Place it around the space for gift opening or where the guest of honor will sit, or use it to frame a space for photographs, surround a framed picture of the sonogram, or bring attention to any other part of the experience.

Print and hang pictures of animals on safari. These can be blown up for larger spaces, or printed smaller to put on place cards, or labelled food. Choose images that are cute, funny, silly, or include baby animals to match the theme the best.
Balloon animals are ideal for decorating a safari baby shower. These can be placed strategically around the room or along with other balloon arrangements to add visual interest, and people are certain to remember the baby shower with the balloon animals.
Goodie bags, or baby shower favors , are another way to tie the theme together and show your guests that you appreciate their attendance. Animal keychains, safari animal stickers to seal bags of candy or animal cracker treats, books about someone who went on safari, and the bags or boxes themselves being animal prints or having an image of animals on them are all a great fit for this theme.
Use wooden blocks with animals painted on them to create staggered presentations for snacks, drinks, and other decorations.
Add animal prints around the space. A zebra print throw blanket, cheetah print throw pillows, fake fur rugs, and even curtains and tablecloths can all be sourced in assorted animal prints.
Add streamers to the doorways, link balloons, and drape the tables to add additional color and detail.
Confetti can be spread around the table to add fun to the decorations and add a pop of color to any space.
Safari Baby Shower Food Ideas
Desserts are always a focus when food is involved, and sand can be a great starting point. Use ground graham crackers to create a sand base and add gummy animals to the âsandâ all over a pudding for a great snack that everyone is sure to enjoy regardless of age.
Make your drinks exotic by using flavors related to a safari experience. Sparkling water is easy to flavor and safe for all ages, even the guest of honor, and can be created in pineapple, coconut pineapple, grapefruit, and many other varieties. Serve in champagne glasses for an elegant feel or place out small bottles of flavored water.
Serve cupcakes with green icing to mimic the plains and add a small plastic safari animal on top. Alternatively, an image of an animal placed as a flag on the top is easily added to either homemade or store-bought cupcakes.
Read about how to make an amazing Baby Shower dessert table here.
Have a Safari themed cake made that has a dessert or oasis theme and use it as a centerpiece for the dessert or food table. This will delight the guests and create a lasting memory of the event.
Donuts can be lined up, standing against each other, and topped with green paper or toppers to look like pineapples. A matching taste profile adds to the appeal.
Fruit salads can add a light and flavorful option for a snack table.
Choose cupcake toppers, either from fondant, modeling chocolate, or printed images to place on top of plain cupcakes for easy dessert.
A punch with fruit floating on top can be used to create a watering hole, allowing people to stop by and pour a drink.
Cake pops covered with animal prints are sure to delight.
A veggie tray can mimic the food choices of the herbivores on safari and can be arranged to look like animals with a carrot mane, raisins for eyes, or bread as an elephant’s trunk. There are many creative ways to organize vegetables and other foods to look like animals.
Kebabs are a fun and easy way to enjoy snacks during a baby shower or other gathering. Chicken or other meats can be used along with vegetables or other savory items, while fruit kebabs with pineapple, grapes, berries, and more can add a pop of color to the table and let people snack as they socialize.
Animal Crackers can be placed in ground graham cracker base to appear as though they are walking across the sand, or in pudding for a mixture of textures.
What to bring to a Safari Baby Shower?
- Request stuffed animals as a gift, and you can create your own safari experience for the baby as it grows.
- Clothes that are safari themed or have animals on them can fit the theme well.
- Decoration or images, pictures, framed posters, and other decorative items are wonderful gifts for building a nursery.
- Gifts for guests can also be safari themed including small bags of candies with safari anima stickers holding them closed.
- Plastic or even robotic animals are great gifts for a safari-themed baby shower and can help the baby to learn about animals as they grow.
- Books on animals, safaris, and baby animals are all great gifts for any shower.
Safari Themed Baby Shower Games
- Create an animal safari by setting up stuffed animals around the room and putting up cards with basic information on each animal.
- Build a photo booth with a cut-out where the face would be, allowing guests to take pictures of themselves as those animals.
- Create a scavenger hunt with stuffed or plastic animals around the room and have guests find them all and check them off.
- Play a trivia game based on basic facts about the animals you see on safari.
- Fill a jar with small plastic elephants or giraffes and have people guess how many are in the jar.
- Create a bingo card using safari animals and plants.
- Rent animal costumes and have a race to see who can get dressed as an animal the fastest.
- Face painters can paint all the guest faces as different animals to bring some whimsy and light fun to the event.
- Pin the tail on the tiger.
- Fill a tub with sand and place toys within, then blindfold participants and have them search through the sand to find the animal toys. The first to find a certain number can win.
- Enjoy a wordplay game taking characteristics of safari animals and applying them to children. For example how they walk when they are first learning, how joeys ride with their mother, lions roar when they want something, and see who can come up with the best comparisons or puns.
- Play animal sounds and see who can name the animal the fastest.
Safari Themed Baby Shower Final Note
When planning a baby shower there are many things to consider. Once the theme is determined it can be easier to piece together the event and choose food, activities, and decorations that will match. A safari is full of new foliage, expansive views, and animals that some may never see in zoos. By incorporating each of these aspects into the planning a fun and whimsical experience that will bring joy to all those in attendance.
Many of the decorations and games are easy to find and the food can be made in ways that are budget-friendly and easy to execute. A safari-themed baby shower is sure to impress all of the guests and can even help them to choose what gifts to choose or how to wrap them. Be sure to take plenty of photos, or have everyone send the pictures they take to one online photo album to share the memories and keep them for years to come.

Safari Baby Shower: 12 Ideas For Your African Safari Themed Shower
A safari baby shower theme is a great way to bring playfulness to your baby shower.
I have explored the plains of the world wide web to find you the perfect party ideas for your shower.
Animal treats, safari props, and khaki accessories are just a few of the essentials you’ll find listed below.
Safari Baby Shower Food Ideas
The food table is a great place to amp up the safari shower theme.
An imaginative way to display your food is to label each appetizer as a food that a certain safari animal would eat.
Below are some fun examples of this.
Get creative!
- Turn everyone’s favorite pretzel rods into sweet and salty “tiger tails” for your guests to snack on.
- Throw together a display of “hungry hippo dip” and “cheetos for cheetahs” like this avid party planner did in this blog post .
- Serve up a nostalgic tray of animal crackers as “giraffe snacks” in these festive leaf dishes
- Do it yourself “monkey treats” are easily crafted with candy bananas and a few cheap little supplies. This blog post will teach you how to make them. Alternatively, you could choose to play around with banana pudding cups for an inspired version of monkey treats.
- Take a trek through the lion’s den to gather up these “lion’s cub-cakes”. Cupcakes are a baby shower staple. Check out these adorable safari cupcake toppers !
- Display your “zebra pops” on a bed of green tissue resembling the safari grasslands. Cake pops are a splendid treat that will please every baby shower guest with a sweet tooth. The cake pop photos below are borrowed from this blog post .
- Your baby shower attendees will need a spot to cool off. Lead them to the “watering hole” – a cute and inexpensive hydration station for your guests – by placing a bunch of water bottles in a massive metal tub/bucket ( just like this one ). To make this idea special, wrap each water bottle with animal print tape! This idea was borrowed from a blogger who hosted a summer safari baby shower of her own. Check out these safari print tapes  on Amazon.
- Feed your baby shower guests Nutter Butter cookies in these leaf dishes . Label the dish as “elephant cookies”.

Safari Baby Shower Invitation
Jennifer at BooBean Design created our virtual baby shower invitation and I just love the gold leather animal silhouettes! She carries a whole line of Wild One birthday, and baby shower designs in her shop and custom colored this set for our baby boy shower.
Glam Safari Party Decor
With the prospect of THREE little boys and one big boy in her life, the phrase “It's Getting WILD Around Here” seems appropriate! Love how the backdrop from BooBean Design sets the stage for the whole design. Then dress it up by adding tropical ferns and monstera leaves around the edges to erase the lines, making it feel more natural.
WILD about Giraffes
For a safari baby shower you'll want to shop your house { or your best friend, mom, or neighbor's } for anything jungle or tropical. I happen to have a slight obsession with giraffes and have collected a few, like this large wooden fellow, over the years. Say “Hello” to Eddie Montgomery everyone. He's our resident clown who dresses up for every holiday. Although he played it pretty cool as a star of this show.
Or how about this giraffe stool I carried on the plane with me from Jamaica? I watched a man carving them and was totally hooked. Although I'm pretty sure there's never been a Jamaican Giraffe! ?The point is….don't be afraid to use and repurpose what you ALREADY have. Grab that fern while you're at it and add that to the table as well.
The Golden Boy
Using the design of the backdrop as a guide I picked up several jungle animals from Dollar Tree and gave them a little makeover with my favorite Metallic Gold Spray Paint . They are perfect on the treat table, dining table, and around the room. GLAM has never been so easy or affordable!
Glitter and Gold
Continuing the glam, you'll want to utilize metallics, sequins, and gold foil. This scripty “baby” balloon makes a statement at the entrance table to welcome guests. Then add a simple leafy vine and viola, you've got a jungle theme.
- Gold Baby balloon
- I love these sequin tablecloths from Amazon and use them all the time
Glam Safari Party Foods
There's an argument here that I'd like to settle. I think the decorations are the most important part of an event, but my husband is convinced it's the food. Where do you fall in the argument? {Let me know in the comments below} Don't get me wrong, I love good food. But I do not love making it. I think simple { but tasty } party food is best, as long as you make it look GOOD. Now, I think that might be something everyone can agree on!
What do you think?
Safari Baby Shower Cupcakes
Here's an example of what I'm talking about. Pick up some yummy store bought cupcakes { not all store bought is created equal so ask around for the best options in your area } then throw on a beautiful wrapper and simple topper. Now you've got a darling and delicious treat that isn't going to stress you out. If you're really looking for glamour, then display them on a gorgeous cupcake stand like this one from Amalfi Decor ! { Is it any wonder it's my favorite stand? }
Healthy Nibbles
If you know me I'm always looking for ways to incorporate healthier options on our party tables. And most likely your Mama-to-be will thank you for a non-sugar option. These blueberries are delicious AND happen match the color scheme! That makes me and the guests happy. At least hippo certainly looks like he's enjoying them.
Gorilla Sticks
We dubbed these “gorilla sticks” while making them and I've had to recreate them for my kids several times since. There's something about putting food on a stick that makes it WAY more fun to eat. You can mix it up and try different fruits on a kabob or stick with a single color like these green grapes. Top them off with bananas, donut holes, or marshmallows for another little spot of sweet.
Jungle Safari Cake
And no jungle safari party is complete without cake! Line the display plate with leaves and greenery. Carefully place the cake, then we'll address the elephant in the room! And escort him to the top of our cake with a few fronds.
With our shiny friend in place, the cake is all ready to go with minimal fuss. I'm a HUGE fan of the simplicity and class of these naked cakes for nearly any occasion. Check your local grocery store bakery for affordable options.
- Metallic Gold Spray Paint
- Plastic toy elephant {Dollar Tree}
- OR Buy Elephant topper ready-made: Option 1 , Option 2
DIY Safari Cupcake Toppers
The golden elephant is fun, but if you're looking for an edible glam safari topper this is the easiest way to get it! Gather up your favorite animal crackers, { I love this Great Value pack because of the fun detail on the animals } and a can of Wilton Color Mist.
- Wilton Color Mist, gold
- Animal Crackers
There aren't even any steps to this DIY! Just choose your jungle animal, blow off the crumbs, and spray like you would with spray paint. The color mist is a little strong at first so use in a ventilated area, like under the oven exhaust hood. Let dry and repeat. I'm not sure the effect was that different with the second coat but it made me feel better!
Easiest Cupcake Topper Ever!
After the cookies are dry, pop them onto your frosted cupcakes. It's a cute party topper that follows all my rules: inexpensive and simple to make, but also really cute.
Welcome Wild One Safari Favor
It's always nice to send guests home with a little thank you these are no exception. For a SUPER simple party favor, slide animal crackers into a pretzel stick bag and top with these darling favor tags from BooBean Design . Then, add a touch of greenery for that perfect finishing detail.
Glam Safari Baby Shower Table
Keep your table simple with repeating elements like the sequin tablecloth and striped runner. Gift wrap is my favorite option for table runners as it comes in just about any color and theme you could imagine. Then serve your guests on gold monstera leaf plates with dressed up milk bottles for color coordinating drinks.
- Gold tropical leaf plates
- Vintage 11oz Milk bottles
- BooBean Design Milk Bottle labels
- Monstera Leaf serving bowl

Make Your Safari Baby Shower An Adventure
Your BFF is about to be a mom, and it is time to plan the baby shower of the year. But first, youâll need to come up with a unique baby shower theme.
For a creative pre-baby party, steer clear of the generic ladybug, dinosaurs, blue, pink, or monkey themes. Not that thereâs anything wrong with those themes, they are excellent. However, in this post, weâll discuss one of the most unique shower themesâ a safari baby shower.
It is time to think outside the box.
Table of Contents
What Are Some Unique Baby Shower Themes?
A surefire method to host a unique baby shower theme is to t ake time-honored ideas and infuse them with a dose of the modern.
To illustrate this point, think of a basic blue baby shower. How about giving it the classic twist of a blue nautical baby shower theme? Then you can sail out to meet the young prince in a sea of blue.
On the other hand, a rustic mustache or cowboy baby shower theme will fill your party with puns. A cowboy boy themeâs props and decor will also make for excellent photo backdrops.
Also, you can go bold with a pink tea party theme for the brewing baby girl. A tea party is an excellent opportunity to blend your delicate pinks and cream for an airy and light feel.
Alternatively, a garden or woodland gender reveal theme will infuse your party with natural elements such as acorns and assorted flowers.
And now, letâs talk about a safari-themed baby shower.
What Is A Safari Baby Shower Theme?
A safari-themed baby shower takes the parents-to-be and their guests to the wild African savanna or Amazon jungle.
Jungle baby shower themes are unisex baby shower ideas inspired by nature, wild animals, vibrant colors, and storybook friends.
The safari animals baby shower will set the stage for a unique, creative, and fun rainforest or jungle party. There is no better way to show the mom-to-be some love and give her a much-needed break from the day-to-day pregnancy routine than with a safari baby shower.
How Do I Throw A Safari Baby Shower?
Having the right space is the key to the perfect jungle safari baby shower. O ne of the best safari baby shower venues is the outdoors. So, plan a jungle baby shower either in summer or late spring. Your theme will blend in with the natural greens and browns in the outdoors.
That said, if you live in warmer climates, you can have a safari baby shower at your convenience. However, if the momma craves a safari-themed baby shower in the dead of winter, there are ways to go about it.
So, what do you do if you cannot take your baby shower party to the great outdoors? First, fill up your indoor space with greenery, such as ferns. The natural details will transport you to the jungle and make your party space pop.
Build your jungle theme using glam animal prints on table linen, wallpaper, rugs, or cushion fabrics. Large animal prints will pull your design together.
More so, you can accessorize with fun jungle-themed photo walls and animal artwork. The key to this theme’s success is plenty of natural light for a positive, airy, and relaxing party.
Safari Baby Shower Invitations
Safari baby shower theme invitations can set the jungle party theme mood before the get-together. An added benefit of safari-themed invitations is giving the guests an idea of the gift items they should bring for the baby’s room. It doesn’t hurt to mention that you have a safari theme baby room on the invite to prep them for gift shopping.
There are exquisite DIY safari party baby shower bundle templates with everything from invites to table settings, stickers, welcome signs to banners. All that you need is quality stock paper to get started on your jungle-themed baby shower.
A professional calligrapher can personalize them further, but this is a premium option. Alternatively, take the easy way out and order your safari-themed invitation cards online. Etsy has lots of attractive and high-quality options that you can order pre-printed.
E-invites like the Wild One Safari Squad invite at Paperlesspost are a cheaper, more environmentally friendly option. Furthermore, digital e-invite websites will track your RSVPs and ease your planning tasks.
Safari Baby Shower Decorations
There is much that you can do with quality safari baby shower decorations. You can, for instance, use the giant Monstera or palm leaves as your muse for an elegant outdoors and glittery jungle theme. Blend their imposing greenery with tasteful gold details such as miniature elephants , giraffes, and white roses.
Place some lemongrass and citronella outdoor candles around a gilt monstera leaf centerpiece. The candles will infuse the party with a revitalizing and crisp fragrance, making the all-golden sheen delicacies all the more pleasant.
Floral dĂ©cor in soft, warm hues like cream and apricot will add a feminine vibe to your themeâs animal figures and boisterous savanna plants. If you are adventurous, use glittering bold textures with some glam for the ultimate jungle theme.
Safari Baby Shower Balloons
Safari baby shower balloons can create beautiful backdrops and garlands for an unforgettable party. For example, vibrant sage green, white, and gold balloons and greenery will have all your guests going âOh baby!â
You can also order a Jungle Safari Balloons Garland Arch Kit with loads of colorful balloons in leopard, zebra, tiger, and coffee patterns.
Balloons will elevate your jungle book baby shower, while whimsical mylar balloon signage in gold can create excellent photo-op backgrounds.
Safari Baby Shower Centerpieces
The perfect centerpiece is jungle-themed desserts, such as a giant baby shower cake with lots of stuffed jungle animal cake toppers. You can also have an animal-inspired centerpiece, like, a giraffe-styled cake.
How about an animal figure surrounded by beautiful potted plants on a neutral-colored tablecloth? Try out this Giraffe Donut Stand for your baby boy donuts as a centerpiece.
Safari Baby Shower Backdrops
For a sophisticated backdrop, go big and bold with blooming balloons in neutral greens, browns, peaches, and cream.
Throw in some pampas grass to complete the out-in-the-wild theme party. Alternatively, build a boho-style photo backdrop using animal-inspired décor, a few baskets, and a balloon arch.
Safari Baby Shower Desserts & Cakes
The desserts and cakes are another chance to infuse the safari theme into your baby shower. Serve animal crackers, banana pudding cups, or zebra cakes.
How about cheetah print-inspired sweets as party favors?
And donât forget to add safari-themed cupcakes to the dessert table. You can even pack some of these and give guests later to go with as their safari baby shower favors.

A sweet theme for a mom about to embark on a new adventure.
Whether youâre a first-time parent or already have a growing family, welcoming a new baby into the world is a wild ride. So why not channel that spirit with a safari-themed baby shower?
Safari-themed baby showers are a fun twist on the usual soft blue or pink-themed baby showers full of stork and rattle decor. They give you a chance to show some personality and to create a day that will be memorable for all of your guests for years to come.
The safari theme can go a couple of different ways. You can lean into the more dusty, muted tones of the African Savannah: decorating your space with animals like cheetahs, elephants, and giraffes. Or, you can go for a jungle vibe with bold greens, punchy florals, parrots, and monkeys.
Whichever type of safari you decide to embark on with your shower guests, this guide to throwing the perfect safari-themed baby shower will have you covered. Read on for everything you need to know to plan the perfect day to celebrate your wild new arrival.

Safari Baby Shower Invitation Ideas
Your invitation serves as the first chance for you to show off your safari theme â so go wild! First, pick an invitation that matches your Savannah or Jungle safari theme, then get creative with safari-inspired invitation wording.ar
- Storybook: Channel childhood classics like The Jungle Book in your invitation by going for a design that looks like it could come from the pages of a storybook. Look for invitations with illustrations of safari animals that are full of personality â and remember to select a design that matches either your Savannah or Jungle theme!
Jungle Animal Sketchbook by Alethea and Ruth
- Watercolor: For an unexpected twist on the safari theme, go for a monochrome watercolor invitation. The soft colors and whimsical watercolor animals are sure to catch guests' eyes, and they elevate the invitation into a true keepsake.
New Adventure by Pati Cascino
- Bold: For a more modern take on baby shower invitations, go for a design that swaps out cute cartoon-style illustrations for bold artwork and typography. Go wild with color and large-scale text for an invitation design that is as cool as you are.
Camouflage Warriors by Grae
- Boho: Safari-themed baby showers are perfect for parents-to-be that will be welcoming their baby into a home full of bohemian decor. Channel that aesthetic by looking for an invitation design that features hallmarks of bohemian interior design â like the illustrations of rattan shelves and houseplants that frame this invitation.
Baby Tiger by Vivian Yiwing
- Sweet and Simple: A safari theme can also lend itself to a more minimal aesthetic. If that is the vibe youâre going for, look for a design that keeps things simple by featuring just one illustration of a classic safari animal.
Baby Animal Giraffe by Cass Loh
- Foil-Pressed: Though metallics arenât often the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a safari, your invitation can be a great way to add a bit of glamor to the nature-focused theme. Look for an invitation that features animal illustrations pressed in foil for a high-design touch.

A safari theme should be full of fun and get guests excited for all of the adventures that a new baby will bring. So get playful with your invitation wording ! Here are a few ideas:
- âThe Adventure Beginsâ
- âA little wild one is on the way!â
- âWeâre wild with excitement!â
- âItâs about to get wild!â
- âThe Pack is Getting Bigger!â
- âHelp Us Welcome a New Baby to the Jungle!â
- âThereâs no limit to how much youâll know, depending how far beyond zebra you go.â - Dr. Seuss
- âLet the wild rumpus start!â - Maurice Sendak, Where the Wild Things Are
- âIn the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight.â - The Tokens
Etiquette Tips
When to have a baby shower?
It is traditional to hold the baby shower 4 to 6 weeks before the baby is born. This timing means that the pregnancy is far enough along for the mom-to-be to celebrate without fear of a miscarriage, and is early enough to avoid a preemie.
That said, you can always host the shower after the baby arrives as a Sip and See party if you arenât able to get it planned before the due date. As with all things related to parenthood, do what feels good to you!
Whom should I invite to the baby shower?
The best rule of thumb here is to invite your nearest and dearest. Traditionally, baby showers were women-only events, though that has changed in recent years. So if the mom-to-be wants the dad-to-be or her own father at the shower, definitely invite them!
Whom should I not invite to the baby shower?
The people you leave off of the guest list can be an intensely personal choice â and can depend on the size of shower youâre hoping to have. If youâre having a more intimate party, donât feel obliged to invite casual friends or acquaintances like coworkers and distant cousins. We also recommend only inviting people who you know will be happy to shower the new baby in love. Remember that it is OK to leave family members that donât support you off your guest list.
When should I send out the baby shower invitations?
We suggest sending your invitations at least a month before the date of your shower. This gives guests enough time to put the date on their schedule, and will give you the best chance to have all of your loved ones join you.
That said, if you plan to invite many people from out of state, weâd suggest sending invitations as early as possible to give them time to plan travel and accommodations.

Safari Baby Shower Decoration Ideas
Your safari shower decor can be as wild or as simple as youâd like it to be! No matter what level of decor you decide to include, be sure to tie in shades of greens, browns, and tans throughout your venue to keep things festive and on theme.
Safari Baby Shower Centerpieces
Diy centerpiece.
If you are going to be DIYing the decor of your safari-themed baby shower, go for something simple and striking like this centerpiece. Simply fill glass vases (or mason jars) with rocks to anchor leaf clippings that look like they couldâve come straight from the jungle. Accenting a simple white tablecloth with a burlap runner reminiscent of classic safari tents is another great way to further nod to the theme.
Safari-Goes-Glam
For something a bit more opulent, go for a big, bold centerpiece like the one pictured here. The mix of florals, gold, and sweet animal figurines perfectly captures the theme and makes for an epic backdrop to your photos. Just remember, if you are going to go for big, bold monstera leaves in a centerpiece, make sure to place them above eye line so your guests can still see and connect with each other!
Gilded Animal Figurines
To give your safari theme a sophisticated feel, go for gilded accents like these golden giraffes. This is another budget-friendly DIY, as you can simply spray paint animal toys in gold, rose gold, or silver. Placing them inside a large vase like this adds a bit of interest to a simple floral arrangement, or you can use them as stand-alone centerpiece decor.
Foliage Runner
For a more low-profile centerpiece, swap out a traditional fabric runner for a bit of greenery. If you are going for more of a lush, jungle theme look for leaves (real or faux) in deep greens and mossy tones like the ones pictured here. For a centerpiece inspired by the Great Plains, line the center of your table with soft grasses. The gilded animal figurines make a nice touch here, but you could skip them in favor of decor like candles or to leave room for shared dishes of food.
Subtly Sophisticated
For an unexpected and on-trend take on balloons, go for a half balloon arch in neutral colors. Then, tie in the theme by weaving in large faux leaves and accenting the arch with oversized safari stuffed animals.
Playful Messages
To have a bit of fun with a more neutral color palette, go for gold balloons that spell out phrases like âOh Babyâ or even âWild Childâ for something on-theme. You could keep things simple and have these balloons stand on their own, or pair them with a balloon arch like the one shown here.
Simply Festive
If you donât have the budget for a balloon arch, go for smaller bouquets of balloons. Pick clusters of balloons in colors that nod to safaris â think neutrals like the ones shown here for a Savannah-themed shower, or deeper greens and browns for a jungle safari look.

Photo Backdrops
Blooming balloons.
For a glamorous safari-themed photo backdrop, go big and bold with your balloon choice. The mix of cascading neutral-colored balloons and pampas grass offers a bit of sophistication that will look great in photos, as will a sign with the new babyâs name!
DIY Photo Booth
If you donât have a ton of space to create a photo backdrop for your safari-themed shower, go for something like this. You can hang gold streamers from a rig as seen here, or simply take over a blank wall. The sweet paper pom-poms, green leaves, and balloons are a nice way to further tie in the theme, and add a bit of visual interest to photos.
Repurpose the boho decor you already have at home by using it to create a sweet photo backdrop that doubles as the seat of honor during gift time for the mom-to-be. Accent the area behind the chair with a balloon arch, woven baskets, and animal-inspired decor to connect everything back to the safari theme.
Safari-themed Personalized Art Prints
In addition to traditional party decor, it is a great idea to use multi-purpose decorations like on-theme art prints that the parents can use to decorate the babyâs room once the shower is over. Minted offers a huge selection of safari- and animal-themed prints from independent artists around the world, many of which can be personalized to feature the babyâs name or birthdate. Here are a few of our favorites.

Safari Baby Shower Signs
Whether youâre going full-out with safari decorations or are keeping things more simple at your shower, use signs to tie in the theme. From welcome signs, menus, and chair signs to game instructions and more , there are plenty of ways to weave your safari aesthetic across the celebration.
Welcome Signs
Mintedâs selection of baby shower welcome signs all offer the perfect mix of design and readability. For a safari-inspired shower, look for welcome signs that feature illustrations of flora and fauna, and donât be afraid to take a jungle-inspired twist on what the sign says. âWelcome Party Animalsâ or âWelcome to the Jungleâ are cute, safari-inspired options.
- Sweet Illustrations: If you went for a storybook-inspired invitation, keep the whimsical vibe going with a welcome sign that features sweet illustrations of elephants, giraffes, and crocodiles.
Jungle shower by Jennifer Wick
- Abstract: You can still capture the safari spirit without going over the top on animal iconography. This abstract design calls to mind the colors of a safari and the shapes of nature. Just be sure to pick a colorway that matches your decor!
Rainbow Shapes by Morgan Kendall
- Jungle Greens: If youâre inspired by the lush ferns and trees of jungle safaris, pick a sign that puts them front and center. This particular style is a nice way to highlight vibrant foliage, while still keeping a minimal and clean look.
jungle edge by Amy Kross
- Cute & Playful: For another take on an abstract style, look for a sign design that features a playful take on the shapes of safari animals. This particular one is super fun â and calls to mind some of the toys the new baby is sure to receive.

Table & Menu Signs
Minted offers suites of safari and jungle-look baby shower signs featuring the same design for a cohesive look. Or, if you prefer to switch things up, you can mix and match your table and menu signs for a more eclectic vibe.
- Vibrant Floral Menu: If youâre looking to add a bit of variety to your day-of signs, go for a menu that calls to mind the bright flowers found in jungles and other tropical climates. Safaris arenât all grasses and ferns, after all!
Watercolor Blossoms by Shannon Chen
- Classic Safari: Or, you can keep things cohesive and classic with this sweet take on the sights of a safari. This particular design is available across a range of different signs, and is a great option for a more elegant safari theme.
- Dino Deserts: You donât have to stick to the Big 5 family of animals if you are hosting a safari-themed baby shower! Channel a safari that is more along the lines of Jurassic Park with this cute dinosaur-themed dessert table card.
Oh Boy! by Michelle Shanaman
- Abstract Watercolor: Going for a simpler sign to mark the cards and gift table is a great way to let the pile of presents the parents-to-be are sure to receive shine. The turtle colorway of this sign calls to mind the colors of the African Savannah with sweeps of khaki green, dusty earth, and sky blue.
Hello Baby Shapes by Pixel and Hank
Chair Signs
Reserve seats for the parents-to-be with sweet chair signs. This is another chance to have some fun with the safari theme, so instead of going for standard text like âMom to Beâ weâd suggest playing with phrases like âMama Bearâ or âLeader of the Pack.â
- Monochrome: If youâre going big and bold with your shower decor, keep the chair signs simple. Opt for a style that is inspired by the colors of a safari to ensure it doesnât compete with more eye-catching centerpieces.
Whisper by Sara Hicks Malone
- Starry Sky: If âThe Lion Sleeps Tonightâ is one of mamaâs favorite songs, go for a sweet night sky-themed chair sign as a subtle way to nod to the safari theme.
baby balloon ride by peetie design
- Elegant Script: This is another great option if youâre looking for a sign that wonât compete with the themed decor. If youâre going to use gold animal figurines or accents in your decor, go for the Snow colorway of this sign to tie it all together.
Elegant Mom by Carolyn MacLaren
- Gingham: Though gingham isnât the first print you think of when imagining a safari theme, we think it is a sweet way to nod to the great outdoors. This works best for showers with a Savannah safari theme, and in muted colors.

Safari Baby Shower Game Ideas
No baby shower is complete without a game or two! You can give any traditional baby shower game a safari twist, especially if you go for a baby shower activity sign with a sweet safari-inspired design. Here are a few game ideas that are sure to be crowd-pleasers.
Guess the Birthday
This is one of the most straightforward games in the book. Hang a calendar featuring the birth month up for guests, and provide stickers for them to use to guess when the baby will finally arrive. If youâre comfortable, you can mark the due date on the sign, but you donât have to. Weâd also suggest buying some safari-themed stickers for guests to use as a fun additional nod to the theme.
Tiny Human by Corinne Malesic
Diaper Raffle
Holding a diaper raffle is a fun way to say thank you to the guests who brought what a new parent needs most: diapers, diapers, and more diapers! Simply hand out raffle tickets when guests drop off their package of diapers at the beginning of the shower. Then, when youâre ready to play games, pull a winning ticket or two out of a safari hat. Bonus points if you keep your raffle prize on theme by giving the winning guest something like a potted plant that looks like it couldâve come out of the jungle.
Guess the Sex
If the parents-to-be havenât revealed the sex of the baby (or if you are hosting a safari-themed reveal party), let guests compete to see who can guess it. If you already know the sex and the couple is comfortable sharing it at the shower, you can give any guest who guesses correctly a small favor. Again, bonus points for keeping the prizes on theme!

Cakes, Food, and Drink Ideas
Your shower safari doesnât have to stop at the decor. Your cake, food, and drinks are another opportunity for you to tie in a wild theme. Look for treats that feature animal prints or serve more traditional snacks in safari-inspired vessels.
Safari-Inspired Cakes
Animal tower.
Use a classic three-tier cake as another opportunity to display sweet gilded animal figurines. You can keep things minimal by featuring just the figurines, or add a bit more visual interest with fondant foliage and flowers.

Bold & Boho
If you are hosting a safari baby shower with a more bohemian flair, go for a cake that is perfectly imperfect. The two-tone effect of this one is a nice way to mimic the look of a traditional tiered cake, and helps balance out a wild topper of animal figurines and leaves.

Party Animal Cupcakes
Picking up a pack of safari animal cake toppers is a great way to make simple layered cakes or cupcakes on theme for the shower. These toppers can go with nearly any safari-shower style, but we love how they look when paired with funfetti cupcakes.

Cute Cookies
If cake isnât your thing, opt for cookies instead! Go for a mix of sugar cookies in the shape of safari animals, jungle leaves, onesies and more for a sweet eclectic look.

Food & Drink
Safari snacks.
Serve your snacks in bowls that look like the huge leaves you might see while on a jungle safari. (Another option would be to serve them in bowls that look like the classic safari hat.) If you canât find safari-inspired snacks like truffles in the shape of monkeys, donât worry â these festive dishes will ensure everything stays on theme!
Pineapple Palm Tree
For a snack table centerpiece that is easy to DIY, go for a pineapple palm tree. Simply cut the tops off a few similarly-sized pineapples and thread them onto a dowel with a platform at the bottom. Then, top with a few faux fern leaves and a sweet safari-animal figurine!

Refreshing Mixes
Serve a mixed drink like a virgin mojito or even water infused with fruit in a vintage-looking glass jug for a safari-inspired look. Adding natural decorations like a wooden pedestal and grass-like texture around the top of the jug will help bring the safari theme to life, as will clever puns like âJungle Juiceâ or âMirage Mimosasâ

Safari Baby Shower Favors
Say thank you to your guests in safari style with on-theme favors. As with all party favors, we suggest sticking with something your guests will use long after the due date. Whatever you choose, be sure to attach a safari-inspired gift tag , or wrap them in something like burlap to continue the theme.
Personalized Pouch
If you are hosting a more intimate shower, say thank you to your nearest and dearest by giving them a pouch personalized with their name. Minted offers pouches in a huge range of prints created by independent artists, but look for one that features safari-inspired colors or textures.
Basic by Bethania Lima
Sweet Succulents
Send guests home with something that will grow right alongside the new baby! Go for succulents to keep things easy, or you can opt for something more jungle-inspired like a snake plant or monstera.
Snacks for the Road
Create safari-themed mason jars by spray painting the lids and small animal figurines in silver or gold. Then, hot glue the figurines to the tops of the jars and fill them with treats to send your guests something sweet to snack on for days to come.

Baby Shower Thank You Cards
In addition to sending your guests off with a favor from your shower, be sure to thank them for supporting you in this next adventure with a thoughtful thank you card. Pick a design that reminds them of the dayâs safari theme and be sure to add a personalized note in each before sending them off.
When to Send Thank You Cards
A general rule of thumb is that thank you cards should go out no later than two months after the baby is born. That said, if the shower is before your due date, itâs never a bad idea to write your thank you cards before the baby arrives. That way, you can be sure you donât let thanking anyone fall through the cracks.
Whom to Send Thank You Cards To
You should send a thank you card to anyone who attended the shower. It is also a nice gesture to send thank you cards to guests that couldnât attend the shower but still sent your new arrival a gift.
Elephant Shower by Lori Wemple
Tips for Writing the Perfect Thank You Card
Writing the perfect thank you card is all about being thoughtful. Ask a trusted friend to take notes of who gave you what while you open gifts, and then be sure to mention how much you appreciated the specific gift a guest gave you.
- Include a general thanks for coming to the shower or sending a gift.
- Share a specific reaction to their gift or to a memory you made together at the shower.
- Wrap things up with a closing statement of appreciation.
When put all together, this could look like: âThank you so much for attending my shower, having you celebrate this adventure with us means so much to me. I canât wait for you to meet our new addition, Iâm sure they will look so sweet in the onesie you gave us. I am so thankful to have you in my life!â
