Single Phaser Beam Array

Beam Arrays fire a series of average damage beams across a 250° arc. Their damage will fall off with distance to the target. 23rd Century Phasers are blue in color. They have a 2.5% chance to disable 1 random Subsystem for 5 seconds. After a Phaser's proc duration has ended, targets will receive a 10-second immunity to additional Phaser procs.

Single Phaser Beam Arrays can be obtained in various qualities as mission rewards, from item containers or purchased from vendors on Earth Spacedock (23c) .

Uncommon Single Phaser Beam Array will have one modifier suffix, Rare will have two, Very Rare will have three, and Ultra Rare will have four. Epic adds a fifth unique modifier.
Standard Modifiers: Can appear multiple times (e.g. [Acc]x2, [CrtH]x3, [CrtD]x4 etc)
- [Acc] : +10 Accuracy Rating
- [CrtD] : +20% Critical Severity
- [CrtH] : +2% Critical Chance
- [Dmg] : +X Damage
- Re-engineering options: [Acc], [CrtD], [CrtH], [Dmg].
Special Crafted Modifiers: These modifiers can appear once on crafted Single Phaser Beam Array of Rare quality and higher:
- [Over] : [Beam] 2.5% Chance: Upgrades your next beam attack. Deals massive Energy Damage, but drains your Weapon Power.
- [Pen] : All attacks with this weapon ignore 10 Armor Rating
- [Rapid] : [Cannon/Turret] 2.5% Chance: Activates Rapid Fire mode for all cannons on your ship for 2 seconds
- [Snare] : to target: -5% Speed and Turn Rate on hit
- [Thrust] : to self: +5% Speed and Turn Rate when firing
- Re-engineering options: these modifiers cannot be re-engineered.
Epic Modifier: All energy weapons upgraded to Epic quality receive:
- [Ac/Dm] : +10 Accuracy Rating and +X Damage
- Re-engineering options: [Ac/Dm], [Ac/CrtD], [Ac/CrtH], [CrtD/Dm], [CrtH/CrtD], [CrtH/Dm].

Phaser, it's Star Trek after all. Game-wise, I like that Disruptor and Polaron also have easy access to sets with good bonuses. Annoyed that Plasma is so misbegotten, with no set omni from rep or mission like the rest.

Match all your weapons to the same damage type (phaser), and fill tactical console slots on your ship with the same damage type (i.e. + phaser dmg). Since you're new to 65, just fill your ship with Mk 12 or higher phaser beam arrays, but at this point a torpedo or two is fine.
After that the main items come mostly from very expensive ships (the console from the atlas dreadnought and the nx ship, the 2-piece gives you a +33% phaser damage, the D.O.M.I.N.O. console from the Bajoran interceptor).
Increasing the ship's impulse speed results in a natural increase in the harmonization potential, further amplifying the phaser damage potential. This console also provides a passive increase to Phaser Damage, Flight Speed and Turn Rate.
The new Advanced Consoles can support a wide variety of mods, so Captains can craft an Advanced Engineering Console with EPG or an Advanced Science Console with Phaser Damage.
Phaser has one of the least useful effects (short, random, rare subsystem disable) while AP has one of the most useful (raw DPS increase via +critD). There are also a lot of set bonus and console based boosts to AP damage due to its popularity, including the console from the current Breach event.
The only thing that comes to my mind is to use a fleet warp core with the [AMP] modificator. So everytime any power level raises over 75, you get +2.5% extra damage. But you are only going to achieve that using plasmonic leech, of course. Keep in mind, in system space you are never going to see your real DPS.
Phaser Split Beam Rifles are ranged ground weapons available for characters and bridge officers. They fire a steady energy damage beam at a single target. Their secondary fire splits a high-powered beam that hits up to three targets in front of the player in a narrow arc, but at a long range. Phaser Assault Minigun.

5 Star Trek online has several damage types that weapons can cause. For example, I can recall Phaser, Disruptor, Plasma and Kinetic quickly off the top of my head.
Phaser build - what to upgrade? I want to take advantage of the upgrade weekend to work towards my Phaser ship build, at least by putting Phaser weapons on all my ship weapon slots. I'm running a T6 Paladin Temporal Battlecruiser (4 Fore slots and 4 Aft slots). I've got a bunch of non upgraded Phaser weapons in my inventory.
For example, my phaser dual heavy cannons mark something like 1600 in system space, but my dps is about 12k. I think you have a serious problem with your power transfer flow that is preventing you to reach proper damage.
