Although we didn’t end up booking…
Although we didn’t end up booking through Safari.com the service we received was great and they were really helpful.
Trip to Kruger at Mdluli Safari Lodge
I loved working with Anja from safari.com. She put together my itinerary within my price range and was very professional, thorough and empathetic. She followed up with me many times to see if I needed anything throughout my trip and even filled out some forms for me when I was having difficulty. When the lodge I stayed at was not being accommodating in the slightest, she quickly contacted the manager and got them to rearrange their services to meet my needs. I would most certainly use safari.com again due to my wonderful experience working with Anja.

Nicole at Safari.com is AMAZING!!!
I would love to share my experience with Nicole. She has worked tirelessly to help me make my dream vacation a reality. I had no idea how to start planning. Nicole suggested the most wonderful South African resorts and safaris. No matter how many changes I threw her way it was always received with a happy, positive attitude. I live in Hawaii and even though we were on a 12 hour time difference she was always available to answer any questions or concerns. Her expertise, knowledge and patience are unmeasurable. I was plagued with numerous payment issues from my bank in Hawaii. Nicole never wavered from being patience and more importantly positive that we could resolve each issue and get my trip booked. Nicole is a huge asset to Safari.com and I will scream it from the mountains to let everyone know what excellent customer service I have received. Nicole is a ROCKSTAR!!! We are so excited for our upcoming adventure of a lifetime!

He made sure he was available, took time to answer all our questions and understood our requests and concerns. We have already recommended Dolan to some friends and will be contacting him again in future!

Her attention to detail and smooth communication made the planning process effortless. No request was too big or too small, and she handled everything with efficiency. Leigh-Ann exceeded all expectations, making our trip both stress-free and enjoyable. Her exceptional service reflects her professionalism. Very good experience with getting quotes
I didn’t end up booking with safari.com but I did have a great experience with their consultant, Leigh-Ann Croeser. I originally wanted to book a safari at a specific lodge but it was not available for the dates we wanted. She offered suggestions and helped us secure holds on other dates. She worked hard and sent several follow up emails as she was able to hold some dates for available rooms at the original lodge! We did end up booking with another safari tour company as I sent out a few quotes at the same time and that worked out better for us but next time I would definitely consider booking with her again!
Easy,reliable

About Manyeleti Private Game Reserve
The Manyeleti is perhaps the best-kept secret of all the Lowveld reserves. It’s substantial 27 000 hectares are basically surrounded by the most famous reserves in South Africa, sharing unfenced borders with the Sabi Sand to the south, Kruger Park to the east and Timbavati to the north – so as you can imagine the game viewing on offer is truly top-drawer! Why then is it less well-known than its immediate neighbours? Ultimately this is due to their only being 2 commercial lodge operations in the entire reserve, so as a result there’s been far less publicity and exposure. But rest assured that game viewing here is excellent, with the reserve being known for its predator numbers and breeding herds of elephant and buffalo (sightings of 600-strong herds aren’t uncommon here!)
But it’s this lack of commercial lodge development compared to its neighbours that makes a stay at Tintswalo such a special and exclusive experience.
Between the two lodge operations in the Manyeleti there are just 8 vehicles going out on game drives through this vast expanse of bush, so it’s quite likely that you’ll never encounter another vehicle whilst out on drive.
Tintswalo Safari lodge is situated along a seasonal riverbed among an ancient sycamore tree grove.

Why We Love It
- Almost unheard-of low vehicle densities mean that you’re unlikely to see other vehicles
- It might not be as well-known as its famous neighbours, but the Manyeleti reserve offers prime Big 5 viewing – guests at Tintswalo commonly get to see the big cats (and wild dog are found here too) along with sightings of breeding herds of elephant and huge 600-plus strong herds of buffalo
- The new elephant hide at Tintswalo Safari Lodg e is strategically hidden below the wooden walkway of the main lodge
- From the main lodge deck, you can enjoy wonderful sightings of the animals (with the ellies being particularly common visitors) as they come down to drink at the permanent pool in the riverbed right next to the deck
- Unlike the long and rough trip over dirt roads to get to the northern Sabi Sand lodges, Tintswalo is relatively easily and quickly reached – just follow the good tar road towards the Orpen gate and then it’s just 8 km of dirt inside the Manyeleti reserve to the lodge itself

Loved our time at Nkorho. Our guide, Matt, and tracker, David, were extremely professional and knowledgeable. The safari rides were incredible and we certainly saw everything we came to see. The entire staff works hard to ensure a great experience for their guests. Our suite was great, very clean and comfortable . The swing was cozy on the front deck! Enjoyed our meals and evenings in the bar. Thanks to all for a great time!

This was a great experience overall. The resort was nice and homely. Our ranger Kelsey and tracker Bennett were very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions that we had. The game drives were exciting and the search for the leopard was one of the highlights of the trip. The rooms were spacious, and the food was almost unending. The only downside, and understandably so, was the inability to move from one room to another, after dark. While our sons were older and able to stay on their own, families with slightly younger children may have to stay in one chalet. Strongly recommend it!!

We had a great overall experience at Mala Mala. We saw abundant animals and several exciting interactions between them. Our guide was knowledgeable and nice (the others in our group had a guide who had had incredible intuition for finding animals and we benefited from it). The rooms are nice, beautiful and comfortable. The food was good/okay... We were there for three nights and it seemed like there were a lot of repeats between the meals. The staff were all friendly and the customer service was great!

I don't usually write reviews however, I travelled to Lion Sands with my girlfriend in March 2017, it was her birthday and I was planning to propose. From the moment the booking was made until the last minute we left the location the service was impecable.

Our family just spend 3 days in the Cottage. The safaris were outstanding led by our intelligent and passionate guide Michael. We saw so much and learnt so much in the "Land That Time Forgot". Leopard with Waterbuck kill, wild dogs, Lion and Elephant swimming and wrestling in a dam and so much more!! The camp manager Gary was so welcoming and friendly. His enthusiasm for the bush is infectious. Thanks for a wonderful time in a special place. Also thanks for arranging a truly unique bat sighting!!!! Stayed May 2017, travelled with family

Fabulous three days at Idube Game Reserve. Lovely people. amazing food. So many highlights. But one stood out. When we surprised a rhino and it charged our Land Cruiser, leave it to our guide, Brogan, to take care of business. With a sharp, "OY!", the rhino stopped it charge, turn around and trotted back to its mate. Note that the wifi was only available in the office when we went, but it's due for an upgrade any date. Pro-tip: No cell coverage, but the office has a cell tower booster. Turn off your wifi, and your phone will pick up the cell booster if you have a local phone or international plan

It's hard to put into words what a wonderful place this is , even before you arrive the staff are extremely helpful with information and when you arrive they make you feel part of the lodge community not just a guest (truly welcoming).
The staff are genuinely interested in your adventure and happiness joining in stories and experiences of each game drive .Be prepared for the early starts 5.30 am game drive however believe me this is the best time of the day to see the animals and is a magical time to see the bush. The lodge and rooms are to a very high standard with all rooms having great views and the best bit being no fences !!!! YOU REALLY ARE IN THE BUSH 🙂 . This is without doubt a luxury Safari

We just came back from our first ever safari trip. We went not knowing what to expect. After our first game drive, we got to know why Sabi Sands Lodges are the best when it comes to big five game viewing. We managed to view all of the big five on one day.
The accommodation was perfect and the staff were exceptionally friendly. We are hooked, we will certainly visit Sabi Sabi again, very soon.

We absolutely loved this resort. The staff is so warm and welcoming, the rooms and public areas are beautifully and comfortably decorated, the food was delicious (I'm a San Francisco foodie pescetarian and absolutely loved the food/presentation), and the game drives were unforgettable. Don't miss the bush walk--we walked through a field of butterflies, saw all kinds of animal tracks, and enjoyed a different view of the landscape we'd been driving through all week. I would also highly recommend visiting the Thornybush Community Project gardens with Gavin, where some of the beautiful food served in Sabi Sand resorts is grown by local women as part of a community collective. We also visited a school, which had an incredible impact on us. I loved Simbambili--a little piece of my heart is still there

A wonderful visit that was nothing short of perfect. Amazing game sightings, the best I've had (and it is always good), our Ranger and Tracker were great fun and very knowledgable, the staff were on the ball and the atmosphere and mood relaxed and attentive. My 6th visit, and great that Ulusaba is back to its best, thank you!
Highly recommended. Amazing in many ways. Great safari experience. Unsurpassed food. Kind staff. Two safaris a day for three days.
Highly recommended. Amazing in many ways. Great safari experience. Unsurpassed food. Kind staff. Two safaris a day for three days. One extra walking safari midday. Excellent game viewing. Night time star gazing by the fire. Trip to the village. Great amenities. Boma, Observation points. Nice little library. The staff will walk you to your cabin at night. Our first time here was 2006 but this is the place to come for the best safari lodge experience. This is the place to come back to.

My daughter and I spent 3 nights at Notten's in April 2017 and we loved everything about it! We loved the fact that we were teamed up with the same driver/tracker/four other guests in the same car over the course of all the days - we had such fun together and really got involved in trying to spot the animals. And we were rewarded with multiple leopard sightings and the other big 5, as well as all the other beautiful animals - zebra, giraffes, kudu, impala etc - and many birds. The rooms - including outdoor shower, dining area, food, pool, gift shop, massage, the lovely candle light (and lack of electric lighting) and special sundowner by the river were all fabulous. We felt so relaxed and welcomed. The staff were professional and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. They went the extra mile to engage with my 9 year old daughter. This place suited us perfectly. It was top class without being pretentious. Worth every penny - and actually better value than some other lodges. Recommended without hesitation. We hope to return one day. Thank you to all - Dale, Suzie, Gift, Desmond, Tulani, Riddent, Joe and everyone else (sorry if names are miss-spelt).

After spending 2 nights at the Dulini River Lodge we spent 2 nights at the Dulini Lodge. Even though both Lodges are in the same Reserve and very close they offer a different athmosphere. The Dulini Lodge gives you a stronger "Africa feeling" in terms of decoration and setup in my view.
The bungalows are very spacious and well equipped. The welcome is kind and warm and the staff is amazing. They provided me with a special birthday dinner which made the stay even more memorable.
The game drives with the Ranger Fred and our tracker May where an experience. We saw a lot and as haveing been on Safari before we received so much more indepth information since we did not have to worry about seeing all the big 5 (which we saw anyway).
Will try to be back whenever possible

Everything wonderful, just come back from part of Titan Tour. We saw the big five and so much more. Couldn't fault it and would love to go back. You have to be there to believe how good it is, and how close you get to what is after all wild animals. I could have almost touched one of the lions we saw!!
This was a perfect place for a safari. We stayed in one of the two suites, and this was perfect.
This was a perfect place for a safari. We stayed in one of the two suites, and this was perfect. The game drives were so exiting. Of 8 game drives we saw leopards at 7 of them. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was nice. The skills of the tracker and ranger was fantastic. It was so nice to follow how they read the tracks in the sand and bushes. We saw the big 5 and a lot more. If would go back? YES

If you are planning a trip to S.A. And want to spend time in the bush, then Sabi Sands is a must. We have been travelling to to South Africa every year for the past 12 years and stayed at many game reserves including the Krugar many times. This year we saved up hard and achieved our dream, to stay in Sabi Sands. All that I can say it's Well Worth every penny, the reserve is just something else! It's the best and it's a must, forget the rest push the the boat out and and stay at in Sabi Sands.. We chose Elephant Plains due to our budget. It was wonderful food fantastic, staff brilliant, service first class. We saw the big five for the the first time in 12 years.... So if you are looking for a safari holiday then look no further this place is the best. Memories we will never forget.

Tintswalo Safari Lodge, Star of the Manyeleti
Situated in the unfenced 57,000-acre Manyeleti Private Game Reserve in South Africa’s Mpumalanga Province, Tintswalo Safari Lodge is the definitive sparkle in this large concession. One of only three lodges that occupy the area, this beguiling 5-star property is just the place to unwind in grand style.
Meaning ‘place of stars’ in the local Shangaan language, the significance of this translation confirms that the Manyeleti is the luminary on a variety of levels. When the Corbett family decided to build a lodge in the bush eighteen years ago, Tintswalo Safari Lodge was constructed. Through the years, it has been met with great fanfare by local visitors and tourists alike.
Their adulation for the African bush was an intense and fruitful basis for Tintswalo’s co-founders, Gaye and Ernest Corbett, together with Lisa and Warwick Goosen’s foray into the development of a luxury lodge in the Manyeleti, with a vested interest by the whole family. Daughter Lisa embarked on a successful empowerment program adjacent to the Manyeleti, with hard work being rewarded and recognized in a request to tender on a concession, where the outcome was to build a lodge.
“With our christening into the tourism industry,” Tintswalo Lodges CEO Lisa recalls, “we had little more than a dream of a safari lodge yet to be realized. Through our travels, I developed an appreciation for luxury and managed to convince my parents to upgrade our tented camp fantasies to a 5-star lodge that would offer travelers the opportunity to enjoy every modern comfort and luxury in the heart of the wildest Africa. From our tent in the Manyeleti camp, my husband Warwick and I broke ground, and Tintswalo Safari Lodge was born in 2002.”
My arrival at Tintswalo Safari Lodge is met by the most spectacular welcoming committee – a large herd of elephants enjoying a drink in front of the lodge’s dining deck. On hot days, the elephants have a wonderful muddy roll-around, especially the younger ones, with the mud acting as a sunscreen and a cooling down process.
After a delicious lunch, prepared by chef Russell Schmidt and served on the deck by butler Orlando, consisting of a platter selection made up of beef kofta with minted yogurt, chicken Caesar salad, mozzarella & spinach stuffed mushrooms, sun-dried tomato pasta salad, tomato, mozzarella & aubergine melanzanes, and spiced pineapple salad, I am ready to be shown to my suite.
The accommodation options at Tintswalo Safari Lodge consist of six Explorer suites, a Manor House, and a Presidential suite. I am staying in the lovely Stanley suite, in remembrance of Sir Henry Morton Stanley, whose inherent claim to fame was locating the missing explorer Doctor David Livingstone. The now infamous phrase ‘Doctor David Livingstone I presume’ was uttered when Stanley found the ailing Livingstone near Lake Tanganyika on November 10th, 1871. In tribute to this journalistic explorer, guests will appreciate the lavish interiors, which include a beautiful writing desk and an imposing bed.
Before departing on my first game drive, High Tea is presented with delectable treats and beverages in the foyer of the dining area. Ranger Mark Hull introduces himself with tracker Domingo poised to make my safari wishes come true. Heading in a southerly direction, we find the Talamati lion pride just as the sun starts setting. There are fourteen magnificent specimens, ranging in varying ages, with a few unruly youngsters wanting to play instead of sleeping like the adults are doing. After dark, they start moving, and we follow them to a nearby watering hole where they line up to drink in groups of four. What an incredible sighting!
Guests returning from a game drive have a choice to either freshen up before dinner or head straight to a gastronomic feast. I opt to dine immediately, and the food is superb. I skip the starter choice and am delighted to indulge in the perfectly prepared main course of slow-cooked Springbok shank atop squashed new potatoes, with buttered baby vegetables, topped with fresh herb gremolata. To conclude my meal, the melt-in-my-mouth chocolate fondant with chocolate ice cream is enough to send me to chocoholic heaven.
Raised wooden walkways lead to the rooms, and at night, guests are accompanied by a night porter as the area surrounding Tintswalo Safari Lodge is unfenced. We did come across an interesting visitor before supper, in the form of an African rock python. Fortunately, one of the guides removed this large non-venomous snake from the deck, much to everyone’s relief.
I’m finally able to admire the stylish interiors of my suite and relax on my sofa before having a cleansing shower with fragrant Africology products. Retiring for the night under the soft white bedding and draped mosquito netting, I dream of what delights could be in store for the following day.
The threat of rain seems like it might decrease, but halfway through our game drive, I ask Mark if he would mind returning to the lodge. The animals have also found shelter, even though it’s quite humorous that on this dreary day, all the grey animals would make their appearance – elephants, warthog, buffalo, and to break the gloominess, a giraffe emerges out of nowhere!
Breakfast is served inside the dining area, and even the elephants, who are usually at the watering hole in front of the lodge, only arrive once the rain has stopped. Following lunch and High Tea, four guests join us on the afternoon drive, and this time, we spot vultures, a pregnant zebra, and the once-in-a-lifetime sighting of the Orpen male lion mating with the Koppies female. Dinner is once again a palate-pleasing affair.
It is my last morning, and everyone is very quiet on our morning drive as we have seen so much, what else could we possibly encounter? As we turn the corner, she comes into view, the Nompethu female leopard, her rosette coat in stark contrast to the tree stump she is climbing to elevate her vantage point. She notices a few impalas in the distance, but they have already sensed her and make a hasty retreat.
Back at the lodge, it is time to leave, but not before marveling at my lovely surroundings. After eighteen years, the interiors still look pristine. How have they not become dated? “Tintswalo Safari Lodge is decorated in our signature style,” Lisa explains. “It’s all about the comfort of our guests, and we do like to combine African designs with a touch of glamor, which includes luxurious fabrics, Persian rugs, and crystal chandeliers. It is a traditionally styled safari lodge and, therefore a more ‘classic’ design, which does not date easily, but we do update the soft furnishings and objet d’art from time to time to keep the design fresh.”
