The Sims Freeplay Tips, Hints & Strategies: What Your Sims Can Do in Each Stage of Life

By: Author Tim McNeil

Posted on Last updated: January 27, 2016

The Sims Freeplay has been around for some time, as EA’s Sims game for mobile devices (Android, iOS). And while it’s also been some time since the game’s last been updated, we thought it would be a good idea to give you a fresh strategy guide for The Sims Freeplay. But first, what can you expect from the mobile version of the “world’s most popular life simulation game?” Basically, this is a “distilled” version of the Sims games for other platforms, as you can create your own Sims, build homes for them, and have them interact with each other the way real people do. They can wear different outfits, live in homes, care for pets, and grow from childhood to old age just like we do in the real world.

In this strategy guide, we’ve decided to focus on the latter aspect of The Sims Freeplay – how characters evolve from infancy to becoming senior citizens. What do they do, what can you expect, and what’s in it for you when it comes to these stages in a Sim’s life? Read on, and we shall tell you more.

There are a few things you need to have in place in order for two Sims to have babies. First, your home needs to have a cot, and both Sims need to be married so they can have a baby. Yes, The Sims Freeplay does tend to kick it old-school in this regard, but in terms of gameplay mechanics, it makes perfect sense.

When taking care of babies, you should have them practice how to crawl and how to walk. You can also teach them some life skills, such as music by having them practice on a xylophone. In summation, you want babies to be closely watched over and supervised by adults.

Compared to babies, toddlers are a bit more involved in the run of things in The Sims Freeplay. Adult Sims would still need to supervise them closely, though, and in terms of what toddlers can do, you can take them to the toddler playhouse for some amusement, and have them go to the beach with adults to collect seashells.

Preteens act like a lot of real-world preteens do, and that would include spending a lot of the adults’ money, and often not making any money of their own. But in the game, they can earn some money through their hobbies, which may include figure skating, ballet, karate, and just like toddlers, sea shell collecting. They don’t need to be supervised much by adults, but there are some aspects of their lives where they need some assistance from grown-ups.

Teens are just like preteens in the regard that they spend a whole lot of money, but they can make more money of their own. Just don’t expect it to be that much yet. The only aspect where they would need adult assistance is in driving, and their hobbies are more diverse than those of preteens. These run the gamut from cooking, figure skating, diving, arcade gaming, surfing, breakdancing, modeling, and even spell casting; out of all those hobbies, I think arcade gaming was the only one I was involved in back in the day. In short, teens in The Sims Freeplay have the most fun.

Adults are the ones who go through the daily grind, putting food on the table and working jobs. But they can have hobbies of their own, like the aforementioned teen hobbies. They can also be involved in more “mature” hobbies, which include, but are not limited to fishing, (ghost) hunting, salsa dancing, and more. And they really do need to have a career – it may be something “fun” like acting or something more “serious” like teaching or real estate, just as long as they have a job to help them earn money.

Last, but not the least, we have the seniors. They don’t work, as they are already presumably retired from their careers. So what do they do? Do they have any hobbies? Yes they do, and they happen to be the stereotypical “old person” hobbies – bird feeding, bingo, and quilting. These are new hobbies to keep your Sims busy, so that, at least, is something worth mentioning.

Want more tips and tricks for The Sims Freeplay? We recommend you to check out our guide, which explains you how to earn more simoleons and lifestyle points in the game. And if that’s not enough, we have yet another detailed strategy guide for The Sims Freeplay with more tips and tricks on how to increase your simoleon and lifestyle point counts.

The-Sims-FreePlay-Babies

Old update, babies look a bit different!

Babies  (also known as Infants ) are the first life stage in the Sims FreePlay. They are unlocked after completing the Two And A Half Sims Quest. Unlike the PC Versions of The Sims, WooHoo is not required to make a baby. To make a baby, buy a crib in the infant section of the home store or Children's Store . You can add a baby for 3 LP, and it will take 24 hours to arrive. If you finished the Life Dreams and Legacies quest, a baby will require Simoleons instead. You can choose the gender, name, eye colour, hair colour, and skin colour for your baby.

After version 5.15.0 babies can now leave their cribs, crawl on the floor, and eat in their highchairs with the family. Teens, adults, and seniors can hold them and walk around with them, sit with them, as well as teaching them how to walk. A hobby is available for babies which is the Musical Expression, it takes 3 hours and 30 minutes to do. The babies also have a new look, and you can change their hair colours. You can earn new clothes for both male and female and you can earn accessories for them! A baby is required for the Nanny Knows Best discovery quest.

Interactions [ ]

Teens, adults, and seniors can interact with babies and even create relationships with them. When a baby is born, their parents and siblings (if they have any) are automatically their acquaintances. The more they cuddle and give attention to the baby, the better the relationship will become. Here are more things they can do with the baby to fulfill their needs:

Once you reach Level 8 in the Sims Freeplay, your Sim can give birth to a beautiful baby! Keep reading to find out how to have babies in the Sims Freeplay, plus earn Maternity Tokens and Baby Bonuses.

Things You Should Know

  • Build the Maternity Store.
  • Have a doctor explain pregnancies.
  • Talk pregnancies with a Sim.

  • Ask for a hug to help deal with mood swings.

Step 1 Purchase and place a crib in your house.

  • This event takes 6 days to complete, and your Sim will have a growing bump along their pregnancy journey.
  • Unlike the 9-day Pregnancy Event, you do not complete daily tasks or goals, so you cannot earn Maternity Points. At the end of 6 days, a new baby will automatically appear.

Step 3 Choose “Go to Cot” at the end of the 6-day Pregnancy.

Add a Baby Gameplay (Without Pregnancy)

Step 1 Buy a crib and place it in your home.

Community Q&A

Community Answer

  • Only pregnant Sims can perform Daily Goals, but any Sim can do Support Tasks. To save time, have other Sims in your household complete Support Tasks simultaneously. Thanks Helpful 3 Not Helpful 0
  • Invest in items that have high stars (like stoves, couches, and computers) to complete your Daily Goals and Support Tasks even faster. Thanks Helpful 1 Not Helpful 0
  • If you don’t have enough lifestyle points to start a pregnancy event, build up points by fulfilling your Sim’s needs. Give them food to address their hunger, let them watch TV to have fun, or get them to play with a pet to be social. Thanks Helpful 1 Not Helpful 0

Tips from our Readers

  • If you want to get pregnant quickly, click on the crib, then choose the 6-day event so your Sim immediately has a baby bump.

The Sims FreePlay: How to Have a Baby

Image of Yamilia Avendano

The Sims FreePlay is every fan’s mobile solution for some on-the-go Sims action. Naturally, the game ports over many of the PC version’s features, including having a baby and starting up a sim family. However, how you get one in FreePlay is very different than it regularly is.

In order to have a baby, you need to first and foremost get married to someone, so get to courting someone and getting engaged. Next, you need to purchase a crib from the Children’s Store (which needs to be unlocked, so get to leveling and buy that store up first). What’s the difference between the crib prices? The more expensive the crib, the faster your sim baby will arrive. After you place the crib, wait the time for your new baby to arrive. After it does, you can tap on it to customize its gender, appearance, and name.

If you ever want to have another child, just place another crib. However, you need to level up again after your first one in order to add another. You’re all set, though! Have all of the babies!

There are three ways in which you can add a new Sim to your town. To move an Adult Sim into town you can either build a new home, or move them into a vacant home.

The Types of Sims

Your Sims can come in six different age groups: Infants, Toddlers, Pre-Teens, Teens, Adults, and Seniors. Each age group consists of its own unique activities, hobbies, and Create-A-Sim items.

Level 10 and beyond

In order to make this possible and have The Sims FreePlay become quicker to install, you will be required to download some additional content to your device whilst in-game

QUEST IS COMPLETE!

Prize:  HANS Panel and Dishwashers

visit an infant's home sims freeplay

Where can I find them?  The HANS Panel is in the electronics section and the dishwashers can be found in the kitchen section of the home store

How much do they cost?  The first HANS Panel is free, after this they cost 15LP each. The Stainless Steel Dishwasher costs S150,000 and the Brown Black Dishwasher costs S26,000

Is it worth it?

HANS Panel- You can use the HANS panel to open and close the curtains/blinds in your house, dim the lights and change the colour of your house lights. I am not really sure what the point of changing the colours is but being able to open and close the blinds all at once is a great time saver!

visit an infant's home sims freeplay

You can dim the lighting by 25%, 50% and 75%:

visit an infant's home sims freeplay

You can change the house lights colour to Yellow, Red, Blue and Green:

Dishwashers-  It is worth completing this quest in the time limit just for the dishwashers! They are amazing! For all of you who know the annoyance of completing the cooking hobby and having hundreds of plates laying around that have to be cleaned up individually this is a must! Just select load all plates on the dishwasher and they will all disappear!

Once you have used the dishwasher you need to wait an hour before you can use it again:
