With so many wineries in this area, there are also a lot of wine tour companies. As regular visitors to the wineries, we see and interact with these Penticton wine tour companies reasonably often. Some wineries have even shared their preference for specific tour operators with us!

Read on to discover my recommendations for the best Penticton wine tours, so you can choose the best fit for your budget and personal preferences.

Penticton wine tours: an overview

The Naramata Bench is the destination for most Penticton wine tours, with a third of this wine region located within city limits. You’ll be spoiled for choice here, with the Bench being home to the highest concentration of boutique wineries anywhere in British Columbia.

But that’s not the only reason to visit. It’s also absolutely gorgeous, with the elevated vineyards gently sloping down to the sparkling waters of Okanagan Lake, which is backdropped by rugged mountains. It’s a little piece of heaven right here in British Columbia.

In this post, I’ll be focusing on Penticton wine tours to the Naramata Bench only. But most of the feature wine tour operators also offer excursions to other local wine regions, as described below.

Other local wine regions

Situated on the other side of Okanagan Lake, Summerland is another popular Penticton wine tour destination. This region features more than a dozen boutique wineries and has a more rustic ambience than the Naramata Bench.

Looking south of Penticton, there is a scattering of wineries on both sides of Skaha Lake . Continuing beyond Okanagan Falls , this small community hosts an elegant collection of wineries as well. This underrated region is less popular for Penticton wine tours at the current time but I don’t think that will last long!

The Similkameen Valley is even lesser known, despite grapes being grown in this area for decades. This pristine stretch of vineyards near Keremeos is surrounded by rugged mountains.

The Oliver and Osoyoos area receives the hottest temperatures of all wine regions in the Okanagan Valley, resulting in the most robust red wines. The drive from Penticton is relatively long (minimum 45 minutes one-way) but for red wine fans, it’ll be more than worth the time.

Sunshine and Wine Tours

Professional and attentive, the owners of Sunshine and Wine Tours have more than 10 years of experience providing Penticton wine tours. The company has two vehicles, the first with space for 11 people and the second with space for 6.

Top Cat Tours is Penticton’s longest-running wine tour company. Three different wine tours are offered – three hours (three wineries), four hours (four wineries) and six hours (five wineries and lunch stop).

Utilising a variety of air-conditioned vehicles from smaller vans to large buses, Top Cat can easily cater to different group sizes. It also allows them to have more availability than some of the other Penticton wine tour companies.

Grape Friends

In addition to excellent wine puns, Grape Friends specialises in fun, private, customisable tours. Guests are able to pick their own wine tour start time and choose 4 wineries to visit from an extensive list. Being a private tour, there is plenty of flexibility regarding the tour start time.

Naramata Bench wine tours last four hours with an optional lunch stop. Picnic lunch can be provided for an additional per-person fee. It’s also possible to be dropped off at a dinner restaurant and picked up afterwards.

Epic Cycling

Do you live to ride? Epic Cycling may be the perfect match. This Penticton-based tour company leads guided cycle rides on the Naramata Bench.

Three levels of tours are available – Silver, Gold and Platinum – each with different inclusions such as rental bikes, lunch and support vehicles. There is a high level of customisation possible with the Platinum packages, with multi-day tours an option.

We’ll finish this list of Penticton-based businesses with one of the most unique wine tours around. Hoodoo Adventures’ Kayak Wine Tour combines adventure with wine tasting.

After a relaxing 1.5-hour long guided kayak on beautiful Okanagan Lake, guests enjoy a picnic lunch and 3 winery visits. It’s a great way to ‘earn’ the wine tasting and experience the area from a different perspective.

Founded during the pandemic, Vivid is one of the fastest-growing wine tour operators in the Okanagan Valley. Comfort is a priority, with the entire vehicle fleet consisting of luxurious (and distinctive!) black and pink high-top vans.

Vivid’s half-day Naramata Bench tour lasts four hours and includes four wineries with a stop for lunch at a winery bistro (additional fee). The full-day tour is a couple of hours longer and features an extra winery and lunch at a local winery restaurant.

Our Penticton based wine tour offers you an escape to a relaxing, enjoyable tour through the scenic south okanagan valley.

With almost 82 percent of all the vineyard acreage in the province, the Okanagan Valley is BC’s premier grape growing region. An ever-changing vista, the area spreads more than 250 kilometers, each of which with unique soil and weather conditions suited to growing a wide range of grapes.

From world-class vineyards to family-run boutique operations, the wineries of the Okanagan are a wealth of character and consistently ranked among the world's best at International competitions.

With two vehicles to serve our customers, we let the customers who book first select the direction of the tour. If you book first you get to choose the tour ( Naramata, Oliver, Summerland, or OK Falls. ) once both of the vehicles have been booked as far as which tour we are going on then if others want to join they can. One Vehicle holds eleven people and the other holds six. Private tours can be arranged, and we will not add other people . This year 2024 will be the 13 th season we have been taking our clients to the wonderful wineries of the Okanagan.

Plans sometimes change. We get it; it happens to us too. So we're happy to provide a hassle-free, 100% refund if you give us 48 hours' notice. Within 48 hours, we've already started preparing for your tour, and we can't quickly fill your slot, so we can't provide you with a refund in that case, and there is a 100% charge for the entire invoice. Very, very rarely, we're the ones that have to cancel. We'll try hard not to, but if we do, we'll ask if you prefer to reschedule or have us refund you. Should government restrictions prevent tours from operating, reservations can be rescheduled or are 100% refundable. Private tours require seven days' notice for a 100% refund.

We have a special $99 rate for adult guests who choose not to participate in wine tasting, and 'riders' receive tasty, locally-made Motherlove Kombucha.

Reservations are available for single guests on most tours. Public tours require a minimum of two guests to operate. If the tour capacity is unmet, we will contact you to schedule an available tour or refund your deposit. Pick-up requests are not guaranteed for single guests. You may be asked to meet at a central location for pick-up/drop-off. If pick-up at your requested location is unavailable, we will contact you 24 hours before your tour to schedule an alternate location.

A 20% deposit is required at the time of booking. Your Tour Guide will collect the balance of the payment after the tour. We accept cash and credit cards, including American Express, MasterCard, and Visa. Gratuities are NOT included - suggested gratuity: 15-25%. For groups of eight or more, private tours, and prepaid invoices, an 18% gratuity will be added. Split payments are available for small groups. For large groups, please organize payment in advance and present your Tour Guide with one payment method.

Pick-up at Sparkling Hill Resort Vernon is available for an additional $150.

Located on the southern tip of Okanagan Lake in between Kelowna and Osoyoos, Penticton is a great stop on an Okanagan wine tour. The region is a little newer on the scene but boasts 355 acres of stunning vineyards. Poplar Grove was one of the original five Naramata Bench vineyards founded in 1993. The winery went on to become a family-owned operation with over 140 acres of estate vineyards. The Holler family focuses on crafting rich, bold reds like their famed Legacy Blend and their dark berry Merlot . 

Poplar Grove’s tasting room is open daily for the Benchmark Experience tasting . You can sample four hand-selected wines for CAD $10 per person.     Poplar Grove is also home to one of the best Penticton winery restaurants and offers spectacular views of Okanagan Lake.

Laughing Stock

Laughing Stock Vineyards is an award-winning estate vineyard in Penticton that’s definitely worth a visit. The winery was founded by Cynthia and David Enns in 2003 with Bordeaux grape varieties grown on the Naramata Bench. Their flagship wine, Portfolio, is a Bordeaux-style blend that has won several accolades and is consistently praised by wine critics.

You can visit the hillside winery by appointment during spring and summer or join the wine club for exclusive perks. The picturesque Naramata wine tasting is CAD $10 per person with tasting fees waived with purchase.

Three Sisters

Another fabulous Naramata Bench winery, Three Sisters is a full family affair . Owned by the Mikulic family, Three Sisters bottles Penticton nature into their delicious lineup of red and white wines. The Bench Red and Bench White are lovely blends of quintessential Okanagan grapes.    

The tasting room is open daily from 11 AM – 5 PM. Tastings are CAD $10, waived with a purchase from the wine shop. The warm, welcoming atmosphere is a great choice for groups seeking wineries.    

Must-try wine from Three Sisters Winery Penticton: Tempranillo 

If you’re looking for the best wineries in Naramata with a funky twist , Ruby Blues is exactly that. The Naramata winery opened in 2008 by Prudence and Beat of Red Rooster Winery. They’ve made their fun boutique winery into a tourist favourite, celebrating fine wine, local artwork, and rock n’ roll music.   

Ruby Blues makes a stellar roster of Pinot Gris, Viognier, and Syrah . Visit the liveliest tasting room in the Okanagan Valley for CAD $10 to sample the wines. Tasting fees are waived with a purchase and the property is one of the best Penticton sights to see!

Joie farm winery.

Aimed at blending European wines with a West Coast lifestyle , JoieFarm Winery does white wines well. Co-founder and Executive Winemaker, Heidi Noble, lives to celebrate the unique flavours of cool-climate Okanagan Valley wines. She’s turned JoieFarm into a successful boutique winery offering aromatic white wines, rosé, bubbles , and Burgundy varietals . 

JoieFarm is located on the Naramata Bench, which is the perfect setting for lakeside vineyards wine tours. Tastings are offered seasonally from May-October for CAD $25 per person for five wines. Though many Naramata wineries accept walk-ins, JoieFarm is by reservation only.

Nichol Vineyard

One of the oldest vineyards-wineries on Naramata Bench , Nichol Vineyard dates back to 1989, whern the first vintage was planted on the property. It’s the second most northerly winery on the Naramata Bench, fostering low-intervention hand-picked vines. Nichol’s standout whites include Pinot Gris and Blanc de Noir , and red wines include a delicious Syrah . 

Plan your Penticton wine tours to start or end at Nichol Vineyard to enjoy the best of the old vines. Tastings run from April-October and reservations are encouraged.

Pentâge winery.

One of the best wineries near Penticton, Pentâge Winery sits on 23 acres overlooking Skaha Lake . The boutique winery, owned by ​​Paul Gardner and Julie Rennie, began in 1996 focusing on world-class low-intervention wines. Their Rosé , Cabernet Franc, Pinot Gris, and Gamay are not to be missed.  

For a slice of Penticton fun, visit Pentage’s natural rock wine cellar . This glacier-formed cellar has become one of the best-hidden gems of Okanagan wineries. Tour the cellar for CAD $20 per person or reserve a wine tasting for CAD $5 per person.

Crescent Hill

Visit the wine shop at the north end of Skaha Lake to purchase a bottle or visit the winery for a tasting event. You can plan the perfect day at nearby Penticton spas before settling in for an afternoon wine tasting.

Another of the award-winning Naramata, BC, wineries is La Frenz , one of the most romantic wineries of Penticton. Formerly Hawthorne Mountain, See Ya Later Ranch Winery was the first winery in Okanagan Falls. The beautiful property dates back to the early 1900s and has spectacular Okanagan views. Premium varietals include Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and Meritage. Though the wine shop and tasting room are open year-round, the winery is best visited in the summer to enjoy food and wine pairings on the Patio Lounge . Plus, it’s one of the few budget-friendly wineries with reserved tastings available for only CAD $5.

Wild Goose Vineyards & Winery Inc

Stag’s Hollow Winery 

Stag’s Hollow is a family-owned winery that’s been an Okanagan Falls fixture for over 25 years.

Tastings are available seasonally where you can sample selections from the #2 winery in BC and #3 in all of Canada.  Blasted Church was our favourite winery in all of Penticton and is our top suggestion for wineries in Penticton.

All tours cancelled within 30 days are non-refundable if purchased without Trip Protection.   We can offer a non-expiring tour credit.

All tours without the Trip Protection and cancelled more than 30 days from the tour departure date are fully refundable minus a $50 administration fee per booking.

All tours booked with Trip Protection are fully refundable up to 48 hours of departure due to any of the following reasons shown below and have provided the evidence requested below.   Please also read the General Conditions of Refund.

• Any reason for a refund must not be foreseeable at the time you made the booking.
• We do not refund if you made your booking by mistake, do not show up or it is no longer wanted.
