"Our son loved it! You did a wonderful job keeping the kids engaged all day. You could tell they were sweaty and exhausted at the end of each day but all had smiles when camp was over. We were also really impressed with the coaches running the event. Our son really bonded with the high school players. Keep up the great work of getting these young kids excited about lacrosse." "My son thought the camp was amazing and had an awesome time. He enjoyed all of the activities especially the game 'man-hunt' and he said the lacrosse was great too."

What Our Families Say

"Joining Second City lacrosse was like turning a light switch on…..  we have been playing lacrosse since age 7 and have played on several teams throughout the years, but our  coaches and teammates at Second City are second to none. I’m always impressed with the way the players are communicating with the coaches and each other. It has taken us to an altogether higher level of playing lacrosse. When I’m at a lax tournament and a stranger asked who we play for and I told them Second city their response was “of course they have the best coaches…..”.   I agree 100%.   Their practices are more than just running through drills- it’s instruction that will truly teach players to improve and make necessary adjustments to elevate themselves.   I’m thankful to be with a great organization and proud to say we play for Second City."

Lead Coach, Team NorCal Lacrosse

Welcome to Team NorCal Youth Programs (U14, U12, and U10)

youth travel lacrosse

Our youth teams have won 11 major tournament championships in these brackets over the years ... .including the Santa Barbara Showdown, Aloha Pacific SummerFest, Pacific Lacrosse Festival, the Maryland Summer Sizzle, the West Coast Showcase, the US Lacrosse Western Region Championships, and the Silicon Valley Shootout.

Our program is far more than just some tournament play - we integrate extensively with our summer day and overnight camps, and fall ball and summer ball activities.  We encourage our older U14 players to participate in the HS SummerBall and HS Fall Ball League programs.  We are planning a Fall Youth U12/14 Fall Ball League in 2024.

The objective of our Youth teams is to enable our players to improve year-round.  We recognize many of our players at this point play multiple sports, and we support that, but provide a place for lacrosse to be a part of their athletic activity year-round, and to play with kids beyond their immediate school or recreational team geography.  We have multiple teams at each level where possible to support different talent levels.

Our U14 team expands to play more competitive regional tournaments in addition to local ones.  We have enjoyed a lot of success at this level. as we help to pre pare our players to be ready for High School teams and competition.  We support multiple teams at this level.

Our Boys U12 program migrates to more competitive tournaments throughout California and occasional out-of-state travel as they move up the ladder.  We shoot for Blue and Gold teams as well at this level.

The U10 program is an introduction to travel lacrosse.     We will practice year-round, and try to stick to tournaments in the Bay Area and in Northern California.   We have a Blue and a Gold team in this age bracket.  In 2024, we will play in as many tournaments as we can.

The talent level of this team is higher than a local club team - because it will be composed of the best players from teams throughout the Bay Area.

Team NorCal was the first to pioneer teams in the younger age brackets: U11,  U9 and now U10 with the change in US Lacrosse National Guidelines for age groups.

In our last pre-pandemic year,  we brought everything together and ran the table at the Santa Barbara Showdown, the Blue team going 5-0 and defeating archival Berserkers handily in the deciding game to  win the Championship title, for the third year of the last four.  The Gold team went 2-1 in a very strong performance as well.

Minnesota Chill Boys

Welcome to the Minnesota Chill, the premier All-State travel lacrosse club dedicated to empowering players on and off the field. With a rich history dating back to 1997 and the distinction of being the state's first youth travel lacrosse club, we take pride in offering transformative training and travel experiences that have a lasting impact. Our athletes, ranging from 10U to Graduating Seniors, compete and train at the highest level, form lifelong bonds, and foster their love for the game.

The Minnesota Chill is one of the only clubs in the region run by a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. We put people over profits and are committed to being organized, transparent, affordable, diverse, and, most importantly, impactful. We travel as a team, plan team meals and amazing off-field activities, allowing players to develop confidence and autonomy while reducing financial burdens for families. Our commitment to fostering well-rounded athletes is evident in the dedication of our highly trained coaches, who focus on the holistic growth of each player, many of whom go on to play at the collegiate level, become more empathetic lifelong learners, and give back to the communities and game they love.

We offer fall, winter, and summer seasons, and while we love working with players year-round, we allow players to opt in and out of seasons as needed. We also coordinate team schedules with high-school/association team schedules so players can do both.

BOYS HOUSE PROGRAM

Blue Wave Buddies  (1st and 2nd graders)

NEW - Starting in 2024, the Boys DYLAX House Program will be taking over BWB.

Blue Wave Buddies for Boys  will now be part of the DYLAX House program which currently runs 3rd-6th grade boys youth lacrosse. BWB will continue the traditions that have worked well for the boys and this year we will look to enhance the experience for all players from those just learning to play to those who are more advanced.

We will have a strong line up of parent coaches who will be in charge of drills. The 8th graders will rotate with their team, demonstrating the drill and focusing their attention on developing all players but most importantly making sure each player is having fun!

Please join us this Spring for a great season!

What remains the same:

  • Weekly clinics beginning March 30th.
  • Players are coached by the eighth grade boys (with adult supervision)
  • Younger players love the attention from the older players and it is a terrific opportunity for our eighth graders to give back and grow as young adults
  • Focus is on teaching the fundamentals of the sport while striving to maximize player enthusiasm and a love for the sport  - emphasis is on fun!

3rd and 4th Grade   All House League - No Travel :

  • NEW   3rd Grade and 4th Grade players will scrimmage at practices within grade, allowing players to be with friends and to have confidence learning new skills together.
  • Clinics Fridays 6-7:15pm (daylight permitting)
  • 7v7 cross-field games Saturdays and Sundays from 11-12pm
  • Players divided into balanced teams
  • Equal playing time
  • All players play all positions, rotating in pairs from defense to midfield to attack and then off
  • Cross-field format will maximize the number of "touches" that each player has with the ball, thereby improving skill development
  • Players take turns playing goalie, and each team is given a full set of protective goalie equipment

5th and 6th Grade  House League :

  • Clinics Wednesdays 6-7:15pm (daylight permitting)
  • Full-field 10v10 games on Saturdays and Sundays  usually  at 8am or 9am
  • Equal playing time, and equal opportunity to play all positions
  • Our house program is a major contributor to the success of lacrosse in Darien

BOYS TRAVEL PROGRAM

Travel Tryouts

  • We encourage all players to make as many tryouts as they can to maximize time in front of the evaluators
  • DYLax has discretion to “pull up” a player who may have been overlooked in tryouts
  • We may also not move any players after rosters are announced

5th and 6th Grade Travel

5th Grade is the first year that boys can try out for travel lacrosse.  We have A and B travel teams for both 5th and 6th grades. Travel team placement is based upon the 3 A’s:  Attitude, Aptitude and Attendance.    Please note that if you play travel you must also play house!   Failure to attend house clinics and/or games can result in removal from the travel roster.  Also please read and take note of the Travel Commitment language at the bottom of this page.  5th and 6th grade travel may practice during the week and on weekends. There will also be home and away games scheduled. There is a supplemental fee for 5th and 6th grade travel players.  The travel season ends in mid-June.

7th & 8th - Travel:

DYLax fields six travel teams for 7th and 8th graders: 8A, 8B, 7A, 7B and two 7/8 seniors teams geared for those boys who choose to not make the same commitment as those players on the A or B team but still want to play in a fun and competitive environment. Travel team placement is based upon the 3 "A's":  Attitude, Aptitude and Attendance. DYLax expects that if you play on an A or B team, you will make DYL travel lacrosse your PRIORITY this spring. DYLax reserves the option to move players when deemed appropriate.   Please read the Travel Commitment Language at the end of this page . Practice (and some games) will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Players who do not attend tryouts will automatically be rostered on a 7/8 seniors team. Away games will be also be scheduled. The travel season ends in mid-June.

7th & 8th Seniors - Travel:

The 7th and 8th grade boys seniors teams are geared for boys who don't wish to make the commitment to travel because of other obligations, but still want to play in a fun and competitive environment.  The boys practice during the week, and have games on the weekend.  The big difference is you do not have to commit to all of the practices or games. Additionally tryouts are not necessary, and cuts are not made.  It is a great way to keep playing the game you love without the full time commitment.

Blue Wave Buddies 8th Grade Commitment On Saturday after practice or games, all 8th graders are expected to stay to help coach the Blue Wave Buddies from 5-6pm

5th - 8th grade A and B travel players are required to attend:

- All practices and games for their assigned team

- All house games and clinics (5/6th grade only)

Communication

  • Players should communicate directly with their coaches including: concerns or questions regarding playing time, positions, team placement
  • Exceptions for health issues such as allergies, asthma, ADD/ADHD, diabetes, etc., which parents should communicate directly with coaches if they feel the need
  • All health issues will be kept strictly confidential
  • If parents have issues with a coach, they should contact the boys’ house or travel coordinator, after observing the 24 hour waiting period
  • Please remember that our coaches are volunteers, and, in the case of our travel coaches, they do not have children on the teams they are coaching.  Please respect their time and dedication to creating a fun, learning experience for all of our players.

Mandatory Equipment: ~ Lacrosse Helmet (Blue Wave Buddies may wear a properly fitted hockey helmet) ~ Mouth Guard ~ Shoulder Pads with upper arm pads attached     *  All shoulder pads  must meet the NOCSAE ND200 standard and contain an SEI certification mark. No exceptions. ~ Elbow Pads ~ Protective Cup ~ Lacrosse Gloves ~ Boy's Lacrosse Stick
