Punta Cana Travel Tips. Things to Know Before Visiting Punta Cana in 2024

Punta Cana Travel Tips

Punta Cana Travel Tips

1. What should a traveler not do in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic?

Punta Cana is comparatively a quiet and secure area. However, to make sure you stay safe and comfortable here, find lodging in secure gated residential complexes, such as Punta Cana Village or Los Corales, located in the neighboring Bavaro area. Try to have your personal car to move around. Public transport does not cover the entire area of Punta Cana and some districts have no public buses at all.

Moreover, pickpockets consider public transport the best option for petty theft. Never drink tap water and never eat unwashed fruit. Try to wash fruit with boiled water and peel fruit if possible. Do not buy excursions and tour from not licensed providers. Make sure excursion providers have a valid license and insurance. To learn more about what a traveler should not do in Punta Cana, check this article: https://everythingpuntacana.com/what-not-to-do-in-punta-cana/

2. What do you think is the best hidden gem in Dominican Republic that not many people know about?

The Dominican Republic features lots of attractive places and touristic sights. However, not many people know about the Eagles Bay (Bahía de las Aguilas) – a long beach along the southwestern coast, that forms part of Jaragua National Park.

Many Dominicans consider it the most beautiful beach in the world. Not many people go to the Eagles Bay, prioritizing Saona and Catalina Islands that are also worth visiting. That is why one may say that the Eagles Bay is actually a hidden gem of the Dominican Republic.

3. What is the strangest thing you have seen or heard while in Dominican Republic?

The strangest thing ever that I have heard during my more than 10-year stay in the Dominican Republic is that one should not go for a walk with newborns after 6 p.m. because of the dew that will do them harm (clothes won’t save them neither!).

4. What can I bring back from Dominican Republic?

The Dominican Republic is a paradise of rum, cigars and tropical fruit. It also boasts high quality natural oils: coconut, macadamia, almond and others. Cocoa butter is also a must-have for women. Please check how much alcohol and cigars you can bring to your country from the Dominican Republic: rules vary from country to country.

5. What are the differences between Santo Domingo and Punta Cana?

Santo Domingo and Punta Cana are different like day vs night, like black vs white. Santo Domingo is a large capital with over a million people living there on a permanent basis. Punta Cana is a small touristic area with a population of about 50 thousand people. It features the largest inflow of tourists than any other province of the country.

Punta Cana boasts the best beaches and a couple of top best beaches in the world, for example Juanillo. Santo Domingo does not have beaches at all. In Punta Cana, there are many secluded areas – ideal for romantic dinners and private getaways. Santo Domingo features many shopping malls and touristic sights. It is an attractive destination for shopaholics.

6. What are some activities for a family to do near Punta Cana?

Attractive places for families in the surroundings of Punta Cana are Manati Park and Scape Park. They feature multiple attractions and activities ideal for families. Hacienda Park is also a divine ranch with many cute animals and interesting activities for kids and adults. For more information about them, check this page: https://everythingpuntacana.com/product-category/excursions/

7. What strikes first time visitors as special or unusual when they arrive in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic?

A Colonial spirit of the Colonial Zone where you feel like if you travelled back to the 16th century. A mix of historical sights and modern buildings. A contrast between slum areas and luxurious skyscrapers. All these things undoubtedly astonish everyone who visits the great city of Santo Domingo.

8. What are the major stereotypes people have about Dominican Republic and to what extent are they true?

Many people believe that due to its location by the ocean, the Dominican cuisine should feature many seafood and fish. It is not true. Although Dominicans love seafood and have some traditional dishes with fish (like fish in coconut milk), their traditional food is rice with chicken and beans.

Another stereotype is that the climate everywhere in the Dominican Republic is hot and sunny. However, there are some areas where the temperature can descend to 5C degrees (for example, in Constanza). Anyway, the weather in the coastal areas is always perfect and ideal for vacation.

One more stereotype is about polygamous nature of the Dominicans. It is true that both men and women here are passionate and change partners often. Young people may even have several girl/boyfriends at the same time.

9. Is it safe to eat the local food in the Dominican Republic?

It is not always safe to eat the local food in the Dominican Republic. Hygienic and sanitary rules are not always followed. Avoid street food and junk food cafes. Make sure your meat and fish are well-done. Take precautions when eating fresh fruit – it must be washed and preferably peeled.

10. What are some misunderstood aspects of the culture of Dominican Republic?

One of the most common misunderstood aspects of the Dominican culture is the excessive courtesy and kindness of the locals. Most tourists take them for granted and believe in honesty and sincerity of the Dominicans who call all tourists “mi amor” (from Spanish – “my love”), “mi corazón” (from Spanish – “my heart”) or “mi vida” (from Spanish – “my life”). One should know that these forms of addressing a person mean no more than “Hey, guy/gal” in English. Moreover, the courtesy sometimes hides some interest (in money most often). So, when an excursions vendor or a gift-shop salesperson calls you “mi amor”, it only means that he or she wants to sell you somethings and probably at a too high price.

Another misunderstood aspect concerns religion. The Dominicans are often considered to be very close to God. According to the statistics ( http://worldpopulationreview.com/countries/dominican-republic-population/ ), of the entire Dominican population, 57% of people are Catholic, 23% are Protestant, 2% are Muslim, and 18% of people are unaffiliated with any religion. However, during the last years, many people only claim to be faithful, although they do not follow religious canons. However, in their daily living, the Dominican often use such phrases as “si Dios quiere” (literally from Spanish – “if God wants”), “con ayuda de Dios” (literally from Spanish – “with God’s help”) which show that the concept of God traditionally does play an important role in the Dominican culture.

11. What is the significance of the Dominican Republic's national dish?

The Dominican national dish – La Bandera (from Spanish – “The Flag”) – consists of rice, meat and beans. The colors of these components are associated with the colors of the Dominican flag: rice for white, beans for red and meat for blue (activate your imagination).

12. What is the cheapest way to spend holidays in Punta Cana?

To save money during your stay in Punta Cana, try the following:

  • Instead of booking a touristic package (that often includes some services you will never actually use during your stay), consider renting an apartment via vacation rentals platforms (Airbnb, Homeaway) or on websites specializing in properties in Punta Cana (for example,  Everything Punta Cana ).
  • If you travel with a friend or friends, divide the cost of lodging equally between you. Thus, you will be able to rent a spacious apartment or villa and pay of around $50/person per night if you divide the cost between 8-10 people, for example.
  • Compare prices on excursions and transportation services on websites of different official licensed providers. Feel free to negotiate the price – it is often done in Punta Cana.
  • Try to cook at your place. If you eat in restaurants or cafes, browse the internet to find the most budget-friendly and recommended local cafes. There are many of them and they are much cheaper than restaurants of international cuisine.

13. What is the best beach in punta cana?

It depends on what you mean by the best beach. If you are a surfer looking for big waves, welcome to wild Macao beach. If you are a parent who cares about the safety of their offspring on the beach, go to Playa Blanca beach. If you want to enjoy a refreshing swimming pool on the beach and luxury, try Api beach in Cap Cana. All of them are different and nice and are worth visiting during your stay in Punta Cana.

14. Can I bring/use my drone in Punta Cana? If so, what are the restrictions?

Yes, you can fly a drone in Punta Cana. You do not need a permit or a license if it weighs less than 2 kilos. Flying drones is regulated by the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (Instituto Dominicano de Aviación Civil or IDAC).

Follow some recommendations before bringing your drone to the country. It is recommended (but not obligatory) to request a permit from IDAC ( http://www.idac.gob.do ) before bringing your drone to the Dominican Republic – it will facilitate your entering the Dominican Republic and going through customs clearance.

If your drone weight is above 4.4 pounds, you will need a permit issued by IDAC. Start applying for a permit at least one month before your trip.

15. What are some suggestions for a first trip to Punta Cana?

Before your first trip to Punta Cana, make sure you have booked lodging in a secure gated community such as Los Corales or Cocotal. When buying excursions or tours, always check a license of an excursion provider. They should have an official license issued by the Ministry of Tourism and an insurance for travelers. Avoid eating fresh fruit in the street without washing them. Wash fruit and vegetables thoroughly, peel them if possible. Do not drink tap water. Make sure you visit the most remarkable attraction during your first visit: Saona Island, Santo Domingo and Samaná waterfalls.

16. I’m traveling to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic next Summer. What excursions/trips would you recommend?

There are many amazing excursions in the surroundings of Punta Cana. Your choice depends on your interests and preferences. If you are a lover of history, make sure you visit the capital of the country – Santo Domingo. If you like adventures, visit Scape Park or Zip-lines. If you are looking for a nice family day, go to Hacienda Park. Beach lovers must see Juanillo beach and Macao beach. Macao beach also has a surfing school.

17. Are there gated communities in Dominican Republic?

Yes, there are many gated communities in the Dominican Republic, especially in the touristic areas of Bavaro, Punta Cana and Cap Cana. Pay attention to Los Corales, Cocotal, Playa Turquesa, Punta Cana Village, Cap Cana and other secure gated communities of this touristic zone.

18. What are the best restaurants to try when visiting Punta Cana, Dominican Republic? What should you try while you're there?

If you wish to try high quality local food, visit La Casita de Yeya ( https://www.facebook.com/casitadeyeya/ ). This restaurant features typical Dominican dishes, such as fried plantains with fish or meat, mashed plantains with shrimps, rice and meat, traditional soups and desserts.

If you look for a cheaper option, go to Delicias de Bávaro ( https://www.facebook.com/ladeliciadebavaro/ ) – it also offers traditional Dominican food at a reasonable price. Gourmet food lovers must visit Gourmet Market restaurant in Punta Cana ( https://www.facebook.com/gourmetmarketdo/ ). It boasts delicious international dishes.

To explore the Dominican cuisine, try “La Bandera” (from Spanish – “The flag”) – a traditional Dominican lunch consisting of rice, meat or chicken and beans. There are also many delicious dishes of green and yellow plantains.

19. How are Dominican Christmas traditions celebrated?

The Dominicans spend the Christmas Eve with a family, usually gathering in one place and enjoying a traditional dinner. Relatives and family members from all around the country gather on that day. On the Christmas day, some people go to church, while others continue spending their time with the nearest and dearest.

Over the recent years, some young people have not followed this family gathering tradition anymore. They prefer going out with friends at night. Anyway, all Dominicans start preparing for Christmas 2 months in advance decorating their apartments and houses. The streets are adorned with Christmas lights already in October.

20. My wife and I are traveling to the Dominican Republic. What type and style of clothes should we take so as not to look "touristy" but be comfortably fashionable?

In the Dominican Republic, both tourists and residents prefer light clothes not to feel hot under the sun. Opt for T-shirts and shorts of natural fabric. Women usually wear light summer dresses. Residents also wear light jeans or trousers with shirts. There are not stereotypes about specific “tourist” clothes.

21. Do I need a plug adapter for when I go to the Dominican Republic?

If you travel from the USA or Canada, you do not need a plug adapter, however, if you travel from Europe, yes, you do need one. You can also buy it right in the Dominican Republic. Most gift shops sell them.

22. What are the best places for a cheap vacation in the Dominican Republic?

A good vacation in the Dominican Republic is not so cheap. Lodging in secure areas costs quite a high price. However, you may find cheaper vacation rentals in Airbnb or for example, on our website where you get a guarantee of security and 24/7 support during your stay in the Dominican Republic. If you are travelling to Punta Cana, opt for lodging in Bavaro instead of Punta Cana or Cap Cana. In Bavaro apartments and villas are cheaper than in Punta Cana or Cap Cana. Besides, in your rented apartment, you will be able to cook and not spend money in restaurants.

23. What are some major social faux pas to avoid when visiting Dominican Republic?

There are not social faux pas characteristic exclusively of the Dominican Republic. However, it is important to note that the Dominicans are religious and you may see people in clothes typical for some religions. Please, do not pay special attention to that.

It is also a common rule to greet all people when you get on a public transport or enter some office even if you see them for the first time. The Dominicans are very sociable and friendly. Even if you do not need advice and someone is trying to give it to you, try not to be rude and just say thank you.

24. What is the cheapest method of using my smartphone in the Dominican Republic?

Buy a local chip card and an unlimited Internet package (for 1, 3 or 5 days). Wi-Fi is also available in most cafes and restaurants.

25. What are some things that Dominican people say vs. what they actually mean?

Most Dominicans may call you “mi amor” (my love), “mi hermano/hermana” (my brother/sister), “mi amigo/amiga” (my friend) – it is a common form of addressing anybody, even strangers. It should be considered an act of politeness.

When a Dominican says that he or she will do something “mañana” (tomorrow), they will probably never do it. The word “mañana” (tomorrow) is often used in situations when someone does not want to do something and just puts it until tomorrow. But tomorrow the person will already forget about the promise. Be careful with this.

26. Do you believe that the tourists who recently (spring 2019) died in the Dominican Republic were poisoned?

It does not matter what one believes or not regarding those cases. What matters is the result of legal investigation and medical expertise. You can find more details about them in this article: https://everythingpuntacana.com/incidents-in-the-dominican-republic/

27. Is Punta Cana good place for road cycling?

Punta Cana is hardly a good place for road cycling. Traffic may be crazy on public roads. We do not recommend riding a bicycle on Dominican roads.

28. Punta Cana is hardly a good place for road cycling. Traffic may be crazy on public roads. We do not recommend riding a bicycle on Dominican roads.

Most tourists who do not leave their all-inclusive resort area rarely encounter unexpected or shocking things in the Dominican Republic. However, if you go outside the hotel and explore different neighborhoods, you will find some poor districts with shocking things typical of them. In such areas, you will see shops and markets where meat is kept outside the refrigerator for days and sold this way. You may also see toddlers in the street on their own or with their elder siblings.

29. What are some music traditions of Dominican Republic?

Traditional national music and dance of the Dominican Republic is merengue. Bachata, salsa and reggaeton are also very popular. Feel free to read more about the Dominican music here: https://everythingpuntacana.com/where-to-go/punta-cana-activities/dominican-music/

30. What is the price of a nice meal in the Dominican Republic?

It really depends on what you mean by a nice meal. A traditional Dominican lunch in a street restaurant will cost about $US5. A traditional lunch in a luxurious restaurant will cost about $35-50. Anyway, know that a quality meal will hardly cost less than $25/person.

31. What is the best way to experience the culture of the Dominican Republic if you don't speak very much Spanish?

The best way to experience the Dominican culture without speaking Spanish is to go out and dance! Enjoy the Dominican music at one of the discos or street bars and communicate with others through dance and Latin rhythms.

32. What are some examples of Dominican greetings?

Typical Dominican greetings are “¡Hola, amigo!” (Hi friend!) or simply “¡Hola!” (Hi!), “Buenos días” (Good day), “Buenas tardes” (Good afternoon) and “Buenas noches” (Good night).

33. What are unique experiences not to miss in Dominican Republic?

When in the Dominican Republic, don’t miss trying fresh coconut water. Piña Colada cocktail in a fresh pineapple is also a delicious drink to try. Explore the most beautiful Dominican beach in the Eagles Bay (Bahía de las Aguilas), and Montaña Redonda mountain with the most impressive views. Try surfing on Macao Beach or do rafting in waterfalls of Samaná.

34. How widely accepted are credit cards at small businesses and restaurants in Dominican Republic?

Most restaurants in Punta Cana and Bavaro accept credit cards, but street stores and small kiosks (fruit stalls, for example) do not accept them. We recommend always having some cash on you.

35. What are good gifts for a foreign visitor to bring when they're invited to someone's home in Dominican Republic for the first time?

The Dominicans will be grateful for any gift you try, but some typical things from your native land will be much appreciated. Bring some traditional souvenirs from your country if you plan to visit a Dominican home.

36. Is it safe to drink water in the Dominican Republic?

Tap water is not potable and is not safe to drink. Drink only bottled water. Use bottled water for preparing tea and coffee and cooking.

37. What is the situation of a woman in the Dominican Republic? Is the Dominican society very machinist?

Cases of tough manliness are still very common in the Dominican Republic, especially in poor areas. Public authorities and social groups fight against machismo and open special centers for women where they can find shelter and report abuse. However, this issue never concerns the tourists.

38. What is the average price of a cup of coffee in the Dominican Republic?

A cup of coffee in a “colmado” (street product kiosk) costs about 20 cents, and in a coffee shop – from $US2 to $4 dollars.

39. Does Uber operate in Punta Cana Airport?

Not yet. Uber does not operate in Punta Cana Airport. Taxi and car rental agencies do operate there.

40. Which excursions offered in Punta Cana aren't super touristy? Are there any good cultural experiences?

All excursions in Punta Cana are quite touristy. If you want to avoid crowds and have a private cultural experience, opt for VIP excursion options for small groups. They are a bit more expensive, but if you have a group of 6 people and divide costs, the price per person will be almost like the price on a regular not VIP excursion. Consider some VIP offers here: https://everythingpuntacana.com/?s=vip&post_type=product

For cultural experiences, visit Altos de Chavón ( https://everythingpuntacana.com/product/altos-de-chavon-vip-tour/ ) or Santo Domingo ( https://everythingpuntacana.com/product/santo-domingo-city-tour-safe-private/ ).

41. What is the best currency to take to Punta Cana, Dominican pesos or dollars?

Both currencies are accepted. You can bring US dollars and change some to pesos already in Punta Cana. Check the currency exchange rate before changing the money. It is better to do it at bank offices or official currency exchange agencies.

10 Important Things to Know Before Visiting Punta Cana

author image

See recent posts by Megan Wood

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana/Oyster

Until the 1970s, Punta Borrachon (Drunkard's Point) was about a five-mile stretch of powder-white beaches with sparkling blue water, dense foliage with a few fishing villages, and no modern infrastructure. A group of forward-thinking American developers purchased the land and renamed it Punta Cana , setting off a chain of events and building boom that totally reshaped tourism for the Dominican Republic. Today, Punta Cana encompasses Cap Cana, Macao, Bavaro, El Cortecito, Cabeza de Toro, Arena Gorda, and Uvero Alto -- and is one of the most popular vacation spots in the Caribbean. It still has the idyllic beaches, but it's now also home to five-pearl all-inclusive resorts (one designed by Oscar de la Renta ), an international airport, and epic nightlife. There are a few things to keep in mind before visiting Punta Cana, so that you can make the most of your trip. Read on for our 10 most important tips.

1. Most of the resorts in Punta Cana are all-inclusive.

The grounds and beach at The Level at Melia Caribe Beach

The grounds and beach at The Level at Melia Caribe Beach

By some estimates, 90 percent of the resorts in Punta Cana are all-inclusive . That means travelers pre-pay for packages that include room rates, food, alcohol, and some entertainment. There are great deals to be found and there’s nothing more relaxing than leaving your wallet in the room safe before a night of eating and drinking. Note that some resorts do have sneaky extra charges for a la carte restaurants or imported alcohol. We love that the rates at Excellence El Carmen cover specialty dining, premium alcohol, lobster, the spa’s hydrotherapy circuit, and a weekly Dominican Beach party. You can even take home the alcohol in your free minibar .

2. Bring cash for the airport and tips in Punta Cana.

Even if you’ve booked an all-inclusive resort (and you probably did), you’re still going to need some cash. Don’t worry about exchanging U.S. dollars for Dominican pesos, as dollars are accepted almost everywhere in Punta Cana and the exchange rate is close enough if you’re planning on making small purchases like souvenirs. At the airport, Americans are required to purchase a $10 visitor’s card, valid for 30 days. Payment is required in cash, and if you pay with a larger bill, you’ll get your change in U.S. currency. At the resort, expect to tip as you would in the U.S. A few dollars should be given to anyone who handles your bags and to the housekeeping staff. You’re not expected to tip for every bottle of beer at the bar, but do tip at the end of the night, especially if you’re ordering complicated cocktails.

3. Punta Cana’s beaches are legit.

Paradisus Punta Cana Resort/Oyster

Punta Cana’s beaches are what made the area famous, and everything that’s said about the soft white sand, clear blue water, and coral reefs is absolutely true. There are 10 different beaches in the immediate area, and several different ways to explore them: by foot, horseback, Jeep tours, or getting out on the water with a scuba or snorkel tour. Watch for flags that mark dangerous surf conditions. Lifeguard towers are dispersed along some of the beaches, but not all.

4. Rain in Punta Cana rarely lasts for very long.

For the majority of the year, the weather in Punta Cana is sunny and in the 80s. Temperatures spike slightly in the summer months and hurricane season usually hits in September and October. That said, you can usually expect pleasant weather with a few unexpected and strong rain showers. The rain seems to go as quickly as it comes and adds a little excitement to the pool scene.

5. Discos and nightclubs are everything in Punta Cana.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana/Oyster

Dominican culture is serious about music and dancing, so it’s no surprise that resorts usually include a disco that stays open well into the wee hours. Budget-friendly resorts might have little more than a DJ booth and a dance floor, but higher-end counterparts go all out with light and smoke shows and lounge-like setups. Note that music requests can and should be made.

6. Taxis are expensive.

Hiring a taxi is almost prohibitively expensive unless you have a large group to split the costs. The airport is about a 30-minute drive from most of the resorts, so arranging an airport transfer with the hotel is usually the smartest and cheapest option. Many visitors don’t leave their resort once in Punta Cana, since there isn’t a main strip or tourist area like you’ll find in Montego Bay or Cancun. It’s over a two-hour drive to the capital city of Santo Domingo . Uber is not yet available in the Dominican Republic.

7. Don’t overlook the spas at Punta Cana’s resorts.

Excellence Punta Cana/Oyster

Spa treatments generally cost extra (even with an all-inclusive plan), but many resorts offer free access or day passes to their hydrotherapy circuits which can include open-air pools, whirlpools, steam rooms, saunas, and relaxation areas with fresh fruit and tea. Zoetry Agua Punta Cana makes excellent use of the spa’s garden setting and  Majestic Colonial Punta Cana sells a day pass for guests who want to experience the spa’s ice fountain and sensory showers. All guests at Excellence Punta Cana get free access to the gorgeous hydrotherapy circuit in the spa that was remodeled in 2017.

8. Sip some mamajuana.

That’s mamajuana, not marijuana. Mamajuana (sometimes written as mama juana) is a traditionally homemade alcoholic drink with rum, red wine, honey, and local leaves and bark. The flavorful concoction is thought to be an aphrodisiac and is jokingly referred to as liquid Viagra, though it was originally invented in the 1950s as a tonic for cleaning the kidneys and aiding in digestion. Today, you can purchase bottled mamajuana or make it yourself. Excellence Punta Cana has a small weekly workshop with all the materials for guests who want to make their very own souvenir bottle.

9. Nudity is a no in Punta Cana (except your private pool).

The private rooftop pool in the Two-Story Rooftop Terrace Suite at the Excellence El Carmen, Punta Cana

The private rooftop pool in the Two-Story Rooftop Terrace Suite at the Excellence El Carmen, Punta Cana

The Dominican Republic is mostly a Catholic country and it’s against the law to be nude or topless in public. Of course, you may see a few nipples on the beach or at the adults-only pools at party resorts like Hard Rock Hotel & Casino or Breathless , but it’s best to cover up as a sign of respect. You’re not likely to get in trouble for removing your top, but if you truly want to avoid tan lines, book a room with a private rooftop plunge pool at Excellence El Carmen .

10. Seek out Dominican food.

One of the main complaints of staying at an all-inclusive resort is the lack of local culture, and that can feel like a problem in Punta Cana. Resort restaurants tend to cater to a wide variety of palates and offer international fare like Japanese, French, and Italian. While we’re not complaining about too much variety, we do think it would be a mistake to skip out on Dominican fare, made with a combination of Spanish, indigenous Taíno, and African influences. Many resorts offer Dominican dishes as part of their buffet spread. Look for fried green plantains, rice and beans, and pastelitos (like mini empanadas). Chivo is a rich goat stew. Desserts using tropical fruit and cream are especially popular and Presidente is the local brand of beer.

Impressive Punta Cana Review [Dominican Republic]

Psst! Some links in my posts may be affiliate links, which means that I get paid a fee if you chose to purchase something through it. This doesn't cost you anything, but makes a huge difference for me! Thanks for your support!

I just came back from a 2-week stay in the Dominican Republic, and thought I’d share my honest Impressive Punta Cana review for anyone considering a stay at this all-inclusive resort!

In this review I’ll share all my thoughts and opinions about the hotel, including the good and the bad! Hopefully this will give you a clear idea of whether this is the resort for you.

To share a couple of key takeaways before we dive in, I did love my stay at the Impressive Punta Cana All-Inclusive Resort, and would gladly recommend it. There were a few minor bumps that I’ll point out in the review, but they didn’t ruin the resort experience.

This post is for you if you are planning a trip to Punta Cana and are unsure of where to stay! I have now stayed at my fair share of all-inclusive resorts (check out all my reviews here ), and have even perfected an all-inclusive packing list for your guys. So I truly think I’m the right person to share my experience.

Quick Punta Cana Travel Guide

Where to stay : Punta Cana is located on the east coast of the Dominican Republic, with loads of high-end all-inclusive resorts lining the coastline. Most visitors to Punta Cana opt to stay at one of these resorts, as it truly is a destination for relaxing and enjoying the Caribbean climate. Popular resorts include Dreams Macao Punta Cana , Impressive Premium Punta Cana and the Hard Rock Hotel .

Top activities and tours in Punta Cana :

  • Half-Day ATV and Water Cave Adventure ($65)
  • Adults-Only Coral Nursery Snorkelling Tour with Lunch ($114)
  • Half-day Dominican Republic Cultural Tour ($60)
  • Full-day Santo Domingo City Tour ($95)
  • Small-group Cruise and Snorkel Tour ($99)

Packing for Punta Cana : Punta Cana is hot year-round, so you obviously want to pack your swimwear, flip flops and light summer outfits. Resorts usually have a casual dress code, but won’t allow swimwear in the restaurants. So pack a few summery dresses or shorts and tops for dinner as well. Don’t forget reef-safe sunscreen , sunglasses and a good book, and read through my all-inclusive packing list before your trip!

Airport transfers : There are plenty of vendors and sellers waiting for you at the Punta Cana airport, so finding a taxi or transfer to your hotel is not a problem. However, if this feels a little overwhelming to you, I recommend booking a transfer in advance – for ease of mind. Our transfer by taxi (booked upon arrival) to our hotel cost $30 USD, whilst booking a transfer in advance would have been less than $15 ( this is the highest-rated one ).

Impressive Punta Cana Review

Impressive Punta Cana All-Inclusive Resort truly lived up to its name during my recent stay with my friends. From lazy days by the pool to refreshing cocktails at the swim-up bar, our time at the hotel was nothing short of amazing.

The resort’s gym and spa were perfect for a bit of pampering and relaxation, while the variety of restaurants allowed us to indulge in a range of culinary delights.

My favorite thing about the resort was that an impressive five a la carte restaurants were included in the all-inclusive package. This added a touch of luxury and variety to our dining experiences, making our stay all the more memorable. If you’re looking for a perfect blend of relaxation, indulgence, and fun, Impressive Punta Cana All-Inclusive Resort has it all!

Impressive Punta Cana Resort Overview

Impressive Punts Cana is an all-inclusive resort, located in (you guessed it!) Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Punta Cana is a popular tropical destination with its pristine sandy beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and a palm-fringed coastline.

This destination offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, from lazy days basking in the sun (we had plenty) to thrilling water sports and excursions – there are some great tours to choose from there!

With luxurious resorts, fantastic dining options, and warm hospitality, Punta Cana is truly a slice of heaven on earth for travelers seeking an escape.

Most resorts line the beachy coastline, and you’ll find that some of the best all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana have direct access to the beach – Impressive Punta Cana included.

Side note: check out my guide to the best beaches in Punta Cana here !

The resort is not huge, which is convenient if you don’t want to trek 10 minutes to get to breakfast in the morning, and has two separate areas/sections. Impressive Punta Cana makes out one area, with its own pool, beachfront and buildings, and then Impressive Premium makes out another area, with more rooms, a separate pool and bars.

Amenities and Facilities

Below I dive deeper into some of the amenities and facilities Impressive has to offer. We spent most of our days here relaxing by the pool or on the beach, and all agreed that even after 6-7 days of this we truly weren’t bored.

All though by day 7 we did decide to book a few Punta Cana excursions to fill our days.

Restaurants

I mentioned in the introduction for this Impressive Punta Cana review that I was impressed that the hotel had 5 a la carte restaurant included with the all-inclusive package. I have been to some really nice luxury all-inclusive hotels before (hello Grand Fiesta Cancun ), and know that the best ones have a la carte restaurants in addition to the standard buffets.

The buffets (yes, there are two) at the Impressive were just as expected. Lots of options, stations for fresh omelettes (for breakfast), pasta or even tacos (for dinner), friendly staff and free-flowing drinks. I wouldn’t expect anything less.

Bonus : the Impressive is the type of all-inclusive that has table service for all drinks, and not taps where you help yourself to wine/beer/sodas. This makes for a nicer experience, in my opinion.

For dinner, you can either opt for the buffet, or head to one of the 5 a la carte restaurants, serving either Italian, Mediterranean, Grill/BBQ, Pizza and Tapas, and Japanese (teppanyaki with a sushi starter). These need to be booked in advance, and you can either speak to the concierge or just do it on the resort website once you have arrived.

We made it a point to try out all 5 of the a la carte restaurants during our stay, and we were happy with each one. None of the food blew us away completely, but we also had nothing to complain about. The ocean view from the Italian restaurant was especially lovely.

A photo of platters of food under a heating lamp at a buffet. The closest platters have rice and vegetables on them.

The resort has a large pool area, with two main pools in the “normal” area of the hotel, and another section over in the Impressive Premium area. Since we weren’t staying in a premium room, I won’t be able to go into too much detail about their area of the hotel.

The pools in the main area were great, with a swim up bar, varying depths and a water polo area. The swim up bar might have been our favorite detail, for obvious reasons.

One thing worth pointing out is that there was quite a bit of debris in the pool, fallen in from the nearby bushes and overhanging palm trees. It seems they don’t quite have the filtering system (or cleaning routine?) to keep this at bay, and is something you might want to know about. However, it didn’t stop us (or others) from chilling in the pool, as you can always just waft away the leaves and debris.

There are plenty of lounge chairs by the pool, and we never had any trouble finding chairs/beds for the day. They have a rule stating that items that are left for over an hour will be brought to the towel shed – which I really appreciated. Basically, this keeps people from going to reserve sun beds before breakfast, one of my biggest holiday pet peeves!

A resort pool at sunset, with a pool ladder in the foreground and sun beds in the background lining the pool.

As mentioned, the hotel lines the strip of beach along the Punta Cana coastline. The pool area opens up to the beach, so those who (like me) prefer spending their days with their toes in the sand will be able to at the Impressive Punta Cana.

There is a beach bar, of course, so you don’t have to go far for that Pina Colada.

Jutting out from the beach there is a long dock with a roofed section in the end, perfect for watching the sun rise when jet lag hits (like we did).

Two girls standing on the water's edge on a white sandy beach, with clear turquoise water in front of them, and a jetty to the left of the image.

As I often do when I arrive at a nice resort, I went straight for the spa on the first day in Punta Cana. I booked 4 massages for the duration of the stay, and they were such a welcome treat at the end of each day in the sun.

The spa is small, but offer the treatments you would expect, including Swedish massages, deep tissue massages and even a sunburn “SOS” massage (that I luckily didn’t need).

My friends opted for deep tissue massages during our stay, whilst I (a whimp) went for the relaxing Swedish massage. We were all happy, and the massage therapists did a great job.

Activities and events

At the resort, guests can enjoy a lively schedule of daily shows and events catering to various interests, from energetic zumba classes and merengue lessons to fun pool olympics and nostalgic Michael Jackson tribute shows. With such a diverse array of activities, there is always something exciting to keep you entertained throughout your stay.

While basking by the pool every day, you’ll find that boredom is never an issue. One thing to point out though , is that the sound system at the main stage could have been improved. The audio quality during the grand evening performances was not optimal.

Now onto my favorite topic: diving in Punta Cana!

I booked 3 days of diving with the dive center located just on the beach by Impressive Punta Cana, called Sea Klub Diving .

The first of my dive days was a couple of local dives just off the beach in front of the resort (about 5-7 minutes by boat from the beach). Sadly, it wasn’t a great experience, as the waves and swells (even underwater) were so strong I was left exhausted (and sea sick) by the end of the dive.

As a result, I sadly didn’t join the second dive of the morning, to head back to the pool to nurse my nausea. However, I was told that this is typical for the Atlantic side of the island (where we were diving), and that the Caribbean side would be much better.

My other two dives (a day of wreck diving and a day of shark diving – both bucket list experiences for me!), were luckily on the Caribbean side of the island. The wreck dive to the St. George’s wreck quickly became the best dive I’ve ever done! Such an incredible experience.

You can read more about my experience scuba diving in the DR here !

As Punta Cana is such a resort focused destination, you’ll find that there are a huge selection of excursions and tours available. Practically all of them offer hotel pick up, and will drop you off back at your resort after you’re done for the day.

We loved doing a half-day cultural tour of the western part of the Dominican Republic, learning a little more about local culture and life. We also really enjoyed spending the day relaxing on a catamaran and snorkeling – one of the most popular tours in the area, in addition to Saona Island day trips .

Below you can browse some of the top-rated tours in Punta Cana.

Impressive Punta Cana Review: Final Thouhts

To summarize, my friends and I had a great time at the Impressive Punta Cana, and even though there were some drawbacks (the debris in the pool and the poor music system at the main stage, to name a couple), these didn’t really affect our overall experience.

We slept in comfy beds, in an air conditioned room, enjoyed slow mornings on our balconies and lots of options for food. If you are looking for a great all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana, I highly recommend the Impressive!

Where Is Punta Cana? + Map

Punta Cana is located right where the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea meet on the eastern shore of the Dominican Republic. For many who plan a trip to the Dominican Republic, this is their first stop.

Note that the Dominican Republic isn’t an island, but a nation located on the island of Hispaniola in the West Indies. Haiti is also on this island.

Getting To Punta Cana

Most travelers to Punta Cana arrive by air and fly into Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). It’s about a 20-minute drive to Bavaro Beach, which is the area of Punta Cana we’ll be focusing on in this travel guide.

It’s recommended to pre-book your transportation to and from your resort. As stated, BeachBound works directly with Amstar DMC for this.

After using Amstar DMC’s services myself I highly recommend them as they’re reliable and professional. My driver was easy to find and was waiting for me with welcome sign after baggage claim.

Note: If you’re flying from New York City like I did, I suggest checking out JetBlue. Not only did they have the cheapest flights, but also a number of direct options In fact, if you’re wondering “how long does it take to get to the Dominican Republic?” my flight from JFK to PUJ was only about 3.5 hours!

Getting Around Punta Cana

Walking & biking around punta cana.

Many Punta Cana visitors don’t leave the resort area, which is completely walkable — especially since the beach connects all of the different properties. Off the beach, you can also bike around if you’d prefer.

In my opinion, this is one of the reasons Punta Cana is great for groups as well as those enjoying solo travel in the Caribbean .

Booking Tours In Punta Cana

If you’d like to explore beyond the Punta Cana resorts, booking a guided tour is typically your best option. This will generally be more affordable than hiring a taxi, too. You can book tours directly through BeachBound .

Renting A Car In Punta Cana

If you just plan to explore your resort, hang on the beach, and book a few Punta Cana excursions, you won’t need a car.

However, if you plan to do some Punta Cana day trips without a tour guide, renting a vehicle will typically be your most budget-friendly option.

When To Visit Punta Cana

Wondering when it is the best time to visit Punta Cana?

Punta Cana is a year-round destination, though peak tourist season is January to March. The average temperature in Punta Cana in January is a sunny and comfortable 70°F to 84°F.

In terms of Punta Cana weather, June and July are the hottest and driest months, and October tends to be the rainiest month.

Don’t let that scare you from traveling in fall though! I actually visited Punta Cana in October and it barely rained. When it did, it was only for an hour or so and was a nice break from the heat. So, you can definitely plan a trip to Punta Cana outside the peak season.

How Many Days To Spend In Punta Cana

Especially when traveling the Caribbean, I personally never get sick of swimming in the warm azure waters or playing in the sand.

That being said, I realize that for most people life doesn’t allow for unlimited beach vacation time.

But, hey, wouldn’t that be nice?

So, back to the question, “How many days do you need in Punta Cana?”

If you just want to relax at an all-inclusive resort, you can absolutely have a great weekend in Punta Cana. That being said, allowing for at least 5 days in Punta Cana can really help you get into vacation mode and experience the many resort activities and fun day trips.

Spending more than one week in Punta Cana?

You might consider doing a Dominican Republic road trip and also exploring some of the other great destinations in this island country like Puerto Plata, Barahona, Jaragua National Park, Paraíso, and Cabarete (where you can visit Ocoa Bay , a sustainable winery).

Where To Stay In Punta Cana

When researching Punta Cana hotels, know that the best way to experience this tropical paradise is through an all-inclusive resort.

For my trip to Punta Cana, BeachBound set me up with a stay at the upscale yet affordable Melia Punta Cana Beach Resort , an adults-only all-inclusive located on the stunning Bavaro Beach.

Visiting the Melia Beach Resort on my Punta Cana itinerary

Specifically I stayed at The Level at Melia Punta Cana Beach Resort , a section of the resort that includes exclusive spaces and premium services like private beach and pool areas, preferential restaurant reservations, private rooftop access, included spa treatments and wellness rituals, and more.

The property offers a nice mix of experiences. You can enjoy wellness and active exploration by day, or lounge by the pool or beach. At night, you might dance to live music, party at a silent disco, or savor a quiet dinner and drinks in a beautiful space.

A few highlights of my stay included:

  • Spacious room with a balcony and rain shower (with sumptuous amenities included)
  • Rooftop chef’s tasting dinner under the stars (every Tuesday)
  • Yoga, swimming, and sunbathing on Bavaro Beach (gorgeous)
  • Daily pool parties, aquatic classes, and wellness experiences (you’ll get a schedule of offerings at check-in)
  • Sauna, steam room, hot tub, plunge pool, and hydromassage at Yhi Spa (which also offers healing treatments)
  • Cocktails and nightly dance parties in the lobby (possibly the prettiest hotel lobby I’ve ever seen)

Stay at The Melia during 7 days in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

The location of this Punta Cana all inclusive hotel on Bavaro Beach — one of the most stunning beaches in Punta Cana — also makes it worthwhile as you can really just arrive to the resort without a plan and enjoy all-inclusive food, drinks, activities, and beach time in a beautiful place.

Surprisingly, T he Level is affordable, too, which is another reason why I think this is one of the best places to stay in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

7 Days In Punta Cana Itinerary

Okay, now let’s dive into some of the best things to do in Punta Cana .

I’ve laid out an itinerary for a 7 day all-inclusive Punta Cana vacation, though of course feel free to swap in other activities based on your interests. There are some options for alternative Punta Cana experiences below, too. As stated above, your tours can be booked right through BeachBound .

Additionally, I’ve included suggestions for shorter vacations below, including 3 days in Punta Cana and 5 days in Punta Cana.

On that note, let’s dive into your one week itinerary for Punta Cana.

Remember, too, that when staying at the Melia Punta Cana Beach Resort there is an endless schedule of activities to take part in, like beach yoga, bike tours, Zumba, pool aerobics, rum tasting, and more.

In fact, here is a look at the morning schedule of events from when I stayed there. And this doesn’t even include the afternoon activities and evening nightlife!

Punta Cana itinerary at the Melia Resort

Day #1: Explore Your All Inclusive Punta Cana Resort

It’s a travel day, so it’s best not to over-extend yourself by booking activities or holding yourself to a timeline.

Instead, explore your resort, grab a cocktail, relax by the pool, lay in a hammock, hit the beach, or simply wander the grounds.

Again, if you’re staying at the Melia Punta Cana Beach Resort , you can opt for some sunset beach yoga, a guided rum tasting, a pole dancing class in the pool, or dance the night away at a silent disco.

Day #2: Have Fun On Bavaro Beach

One of the best beaches in Punta Cana is Bavaro Beach (Playa Bávaro), known for its beauty as well as for being one of the longest white sand beaches in the Caribbean at 30 miles.

In my opinion, this should be included in any Dominican Republic itinerary, and no Punta Cana visit would be complete without spending at least a few hours here.

The Melia Punta Cana Beach Resort sits right on Bavaro Beach, so you can simply throw on a swimsuit and walk over when you’re ready — no car required!

If you don’t mind waking up early, get up to watch a beautiful sunrise. It’s a magical experience to watch the silhouette of the palm trees turn bright with colors as the waves gently lap up against the shore.

Punta Cana itinerary including sunrise on Bavaro Beach at an all inclusive resort

Personally, I loved staying in the resort’s exclusive Level accommodations as you also get a private area of the beach to relax on. The lounge chairs all have towels and you can find shade under umbrellas that looks like t hatched roofs.

The Caribbean waters are warm and inviting, and you can spend hours swimming or enjoying the complimentary water sports provided by the resort like standup paddle boarding and kayaking.

There are also loads of tour operators on the beach offering paid experiences like parasailing — a fun adventure travel excursion that allows you to get incredible views of the beach from up high!

After an all-inclusive lunch — I loved the salads and ceviche at Quimera at The Level — play a round of beach volleyball or go freshen up for a happy hour cocktail — preferably at Quimera Rooftop, which has a great view, or in the stunning Melia Punta Cana Beach Resort lobby.

Add Quimera at The Level to your 7 days in Punta Cana itinerary

You have many options for dinner — from Italian to Vietnamese to regional cuisine and beyond. You really can’t go wrong, though one must-have experience is the chef’s tasting dinner on Tuesdays at the Quimera Rooftop .

Along with an appetizer, homemade sangria, and dessert, there are eight creative tastings. The entire experience is paired with live music as well as your choice of drinks.

Day #3: Punta Cana Day Trip To Indigenous Eyes Ecological Reserve

There are many unforgettable day trips from Punta Cana, though one to get on your radar is Indigenous Eyes Ecological Reserve (Reserva Ecológica Ojos Indígenas) — a beautiful place to explore Punta Cana nature .

Would you like to save this?

We'll email this post to you, so you can come back to it later!

I agree to be sent email.

This subscribes you to the Jessie on a Journey email list. You can unsubscribe at any time.

This 1,500-acre private reserve showcases wildlife like birds and turtles as well as a network of interpretive and connected trails leading to 12 freshwater lagoons, a few of which you can swim in, like Guamá Lagoon, the deepest at 26 feet. You’ll find a diving platform here, too!

Interestingly, the Indigenous Taíno Indians were said to have called these lagoons “eyes” — or “ojos” — due to their unusual shape.

You can visit the reserve on your own by calling a taxi or through a guided tour.

It’s truly one of the most unique things to do in Punta Cana!

punta cana itinerary with Indigenous Eyes Ecological Park & Reserve

Interested in adding another activity to your day or doing something else all together? A few other fun Punta Cana day trips include:

Los Haitises National Park. Meaning “highlands” in the Indigenous Taíno language, Los Haitises National Park is about 2.5 hours from Punta Cana and features rainforest, caverns, beaches with soft sand and emerald waters, interesting rock formations, and mangrove forests — not to mention over 200 bird species!

You may also spot dolphins and manatees in the water.

It’s the perfect place for hiking, bird-watching, and just enjoying the beauty of the Caribbean.

Saona Island. Encompassing about 42.5 square miles, Saona Island is part of East National Park. The tropical island showcases mangroves, beautiful palm-lined beaches, coral reefs, and attractions like the Cave of Cotubanamá, which is home to pre-Columbian rock art.

Typically, an excursion to Saona Island takes about 8 to 10 hours.

Cueva de las Maravillas. Located about an hour from Punta Cana, Cueva de las Maravillas is a large cave system featuring incredible Taíno pictographs and petroglyphs that date back thousands of years. It’s both an impressive and important site to visit!

Adventure activities. Beyond interesting Dominican Republic places to visit, there are also an array of bookable adventure experiences, whether you want to ATV Punta Cana, go horseback riding, zip-line, off-road in 4×4 buggies, or something else.

Again, you can book these excursions through BeachBound !

Day #4: Go Hiking In Punta Cana

Dominican Republic hiking can be a really fun experience. While I’ve already mentioned exploring the trails of local Punta Cana attractions like Los Haitises National Park and Indigenous Eyes Ecological Reserve, these are far from your only options.

One fun hike about an hour from Punta Cana is Montaña Redonda .

While this Punta Cana hike involves a tough climb of 800 feet, you’ll be rewarded with an amazing 360-degree view of the surrounding Cordillera Oriental (part of the Colombian Andes), the ocean, and lush vegetation.

Moreover, the hike showcases fun swings and hammocks at the top, which make for epic photos.

Walking Bavaro Beach during a 7 days in Punta Cana itinerary

Looking for something on the easier side?

Walking the length of the Bavaro Beach area is considered a top choice for hiking in the Dominican Republic. What is neat is the scenery changes frequently as you walk. At one point, I even arrived at a spot full of birds diving into the water for food!

Day #5: Day Trip From Punta Cana To Santo Domingo

Depending on how you’re feeling, you can absolutely enjoy another day on Bavaro Beach, chill by the pool, or partake in the many classes offered by the Melia Punta Cana Beach Resort .

However, if you’re up for another Punta Cana day trip, Santo Domingo — the capital of the Dominican Republic — is only about 2 hours and 20 minutes from Punta Cana.

Spending even one day in Santo Domingo introduces you to many interesting experiences:

-Exploring the Colonial Zone (Zona Colonial) and seeing the beautiful architecture. Here you can walk the colorful José Reyes Street — the perfect spot for vibrant photos — as well as see the ruins of places like the Hospital of St. Nicolas of Bari , the first hospital in the New World, as well as of the Monasterio de San Francisco , the oldest Franciscan monastery in the New World.

Punta Cana day trip to Santo Domingo

-Visiting Plaza de España , a historic square also located in the colonial district. Along with showcasing bars and restaurants, you can see the Alcázar de Colón , an impressive fortress.

-Watching cigars being hand-rolled at La Leyenda del Cigarro , which sells all kinds of cigars.

-Perusing locally-made products, art, and clothing at Mercado Modelo .

-Spending time at Los Tres Ojos (The Three Eyes) National Park and descending down into the earth — literally. Located just 15 minutes outside of Santo Domingo via car, taxi, or Uber, it’s a magical place showcasing crystal waters, lush subterranean flora, and ancient Indigenous drawings. In my opinion, this should definitely be on your Santo Domingo itinerary.

-Relaxing on the beautiful white sand Boca Chica Beach , located about 40 minutes outside of Santo Domingo.

To visit Santo Domingo from Punta Cana, you can rent a car from Discover Cars or book a tour.

Day #6: Swim & Snorkel In The Caribbean Sea + Hit The Spa

You spent the last few days doing day trips from Punta Cana, so now it’s time to take it easy and enjoy the Caribbean beauty that surrounds you.

Spend your day enjoying beach activities, strolling up the shoreline, or just relaxing in a lounge chair with a fruity drink.

Along with hanging out on the beach, I highly recommend booking a spa treatment to get really relaxed before it’s time to go home.

At the Melia Punta Cana Beach Resort, they have the YHI Spa, a tranquil space showcasing high ceilings, rope doors, organic light fixtures, plants, and walkways surrounded by water features that make you feel like you’re in nature.

Spa treatment at Melia all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana

Their spa menu features an array of treatments infusing local ingredients (like moringa!), from massages to facials to wraps to wellbeing rituals that incorporate practices like guided meditation and breathwork.

Make sure to also spend time in their Atabeira Water Emotion complex. Created in honor of Atabey, the Taíno Mother of Water, you’ll have access to a circuit of water experiences like a steam room, dry sauna, warm plunge pool, and Jacuzzi to help promote relaxation and wellness.

Day #7: Relax By The Pool

It’s your last day in Punta Cana! Whether your flight is later today or early tomorrow, spend today relaxing and soaking up the peace of this sunny palm tree-filled destination.

If you’re like me and aren’t good at lounging for too long, take part in some SUP Yoga or Aqua Aerobics or grab a drink and enjoy a pool party.

Melia Punta Cana Beach Resort pools actually have elevated platforms that allow you to stand with the water up to your ankles. These are perfect for dancing or just cooling off.

Resort pool during a 7 days in Punta Cana itinerary

Alternative Itinerary: 5 Days In Punta Cana

While 7 days in Punta Cana allows for a lot of unscheduled time and day tripping, you’ll need to move things around to maximize time if you don’t have a full week.

So, what does a 5 days in Punta Cana itinerary look like? My suggestion:

  • Day 1: Explore the resort, relax by the pool, and partake in some included activities
  • Day 2: Relax on the beach and do some water sports
  • Day 3: Choose the Punta Cana day trip of your choice
  • Day 4: Walk the Bavaro Beach coastline, enjoy some included activities, and book a spa treatment
  • Day 5: Spend your last day at the pool or beach

Staying at The Melia Beach Resort during 5 days in Punta Cana

Alternative Itinerary: 3 Days In Punta Cana

Finally, if you only have 3 days in Punta Cana , I recommend forgoing a set itinerary and instead opting to simply enjoy the resort activities, pool, beach, spa, and nightlife.

Again, Punta Cana is a place that naturally helps your stress melt away thanks to its tropical beauty and luxurious all-inclusive resorts.

With just a weekend in Punta Cana, skip packing too much in and instead take advantage of the fact that everything you might want — food, drinks, activities, parties, and more — is included in your room rate.

Especially if you stay at the Melia Punta Cana Beach Resort, you can really customize your day based on your personality.

For instance, if you love just laying on the beach, you can easily do that for three days; however, if you hate sitting still, the plethora of included onsite and beach activities will keep you entertained.

Bavaro Beach is one of the top things to do in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

And of course, you might be somewhere in the middle. If this is the case, a typical day might be:

  • walking the length of Bavaro Beach in the morning
  • getting energized with some beach yoga
  • lounging under a palm tree on the beach
  • going for a swim in the warm Caribbean waters
  • savoring an included lunch with a cocktail
  • dancing off those calories at a daytime pool party
  • reading on a poolside loung chair
  • getting a spa treatment
  • having a happy hour cocktail at sunset
  • digging into an included dinner

Tips For Visiting Punta Cana

Now that we’ve gone over what to do in Punta Cana and a few suggested itineraries for Punta Cana, let’s discuss some important tips.

Check the latest entry and exit rules for travel in Punta Cana. This goes for general passport, visa, and vaccination requirements, as well as necessary steps due to the pandemic. For instance, at the time of writing, all travelers to and from the Dominican Republic need an E-Ticket .

Moreover, when leaving the Dominican Republic for the United States, I also needed a CDC Declaration Form and a negative antigen test. Both of those were available at my Punta Cana resort.

Taxis are expensive in Punta Cana. Therefore, you’ll want to pre-arrange your airport shuttles beforehand. Again, BeachBound partners with Amstar DMC in Punta Cana, so they can easily help you get that sorted out.

Moreover, consider renting a car or booking an excursion to save costs on sightseeing transportation. Excursions can be booked through BeachBound.

Add a Tuesday to your Punta Cana itinerary. This is when guests of The Level at Melia Punta Cana Beach Resort can attend a multi-course chef tasting at Quimera Rooftop. It’s absolutely delicious and the tastings are creative. Plus, when you factor in the views, live music, and unlimited drinks, it’s totally worth adjusting your trip dates for.

Bring cash for tips. US dollars are widely accepted in Punta Cana, though the local currency is officially the Dominican Peso — and using the latter will typically get you the best rates.

Many all inclusive resorts bake tips and taxes into the room rate, though leaving a little extra for your servers and bartenders is a nice gesture. You should also tip bag handlers and housekeeping.

Try the Mama Juana. Sometimes spelled “Mamajuana”, this tasty alcoholic drink blends rum, red wine, and honey with tree bark and herbs for a sweet and spiced beverage that will warm your insides in the best possible way.

Wear (reef-safe) sunscreen & sunglasses. Punta Cana is a sunny and hot Caribbean destination, so you’ll definitely want to wear sunscreen and sunglasses at all times. To help protect the environment, consider a high SPF reef-safe sunscreen.

Punta Cana Travel Insurance

When visiting Punta Cana—or anywhere else in the world—it’s wise to get travel insurance.

For this, I have two recommendations:

SafetyWing . If you’re looking for something straightforward and budget-friendly, you can’t beat SafetyWing. They offer one global policy that you can cancel at any time or continue paying for long-term coverage (making it the perfect option for digital nomads!).

Their plan includes medical coverage, trip interruptions, personal liability, unplanned overnight stays, lost luggage, and more.

World Nomads . For something more comprehensive, World Nomads is a great option. While you’ll pay a bit more, you’ll typically get higher coverage maximums as well as additional inclusions—like trip cancellation.

The resorts are not my favorite places to go on vacation, but what you say is great. At least to end a trip and relax it seems very good. And you always have the option to go on excursions to other places. I write it down.

By the way, I don’t know how that 360 video is made with tiktok, but it’s awesome.

For an even more memorable experience, stay in The Pineapple , an homage to the famous undersea dwelling from SpongeBob SquarePants . Know Before You Go

Upgrades may or may not be worth the additional cost.

Most resorts offer upgraded programs that include more convenient room locations, additional dining options, and access to exclusive pools, check-in areas, and lounges. Some guests have reported pressure to upgrade at check-in, increasing the cost of their vacation. Research and decide in advance whether an upgrade is worth the additional expense.

The details of All-inclusive programs vary from resort to resort. Learn as much as possible ahead of booking to avoid misunderstandings. Sometimes, the amenities and restaurants listed are part of the upgraded programs, so clarifying what is included (taxes, gratuities, activities) in advance is advised.

Consider the size of the resort and how you'll get around

Many of the Punta Cana resorts are very large, with several hotels on the same property, some with similar names. Explore details like the distance to the beach, pools, and restaurants and whether golf cart shuttles are provided. For guests with special needs, make sure of the accessibility of the lobby, restaurants, and guest rooms.

Most resorts offer airport shuttles (at an additional cost). The convenience of not having to find a taxi or negotiate with a local driver upon arrival is worth the expense. Uber may not be available for pickups at the airport.

Make restaurant reservations ahead of time

Restaurants, especially top a la carte eateries, are often fully booked. It’s advisable to make reservations or plan to go at off-peak times. When possible, check the menu before booking, especially with children who might not be open to all types of foods.

Punta Cana Vacation Review: The Best Experiences

Dominican Republic vacations

Punta Cana was a vacation of sunshine, smiling faces, white sand beaches and the beautiful turquoise ocean.

Punta Cana is a major all-inclusive resort destination in the Dominican Republic on the island of Hispaniola. This island in the middle of the Caribbean is shared by Dominican Republic on the eastern half and Haiti on the western half. Punta Cana is on the easternmost tip of the island and has a busy international airport that serves resort visitors.

I only mention this because it is quite an unusual facility for an airport—open air with large thatched roofs. It gives visitors a tropical island feeling right when they get off the airplane.

Dominican Republic is a major tourist destination that attracts about 5 million visitors every year, according to the Caribbean Tourism Organization. Most of the tourists go to Punta Cana and Puerto Plata. In Punta Cana, hotels and especially all-inclusive resorts line the beaches.

Our resort was humongous. It had restaurants, bars, clubs, a casino, swimming pools, a lazy river, and a kids area—the list goes on and on.

Visitors could literally stay on the resort grounds for their entire vacation and never get bored. Of course, that would be a lost opportunity. Traveling is about exploring new places and cultures, so exploring we did.

Resort Excursions

We chose to do a snorkeling tour, which we booked at our hotel. Let it be known that this was one of those tours where they shoot video of the day and want people to purchase it at the end of the trip.

This means they are constantly trying to get visitors to wave at the camera, dance, cheer, etc. We don’t really like that type of scene, but we laughed it off because we knew we would enjoy the snorkeling.

The first stop was in the middle of the ocean at the stingray/shark bay. We had previously gone swimming with sharks, so this time we chose the stingrays. They were magnificent. These animals were gentle and glided through the water with ease. It was a beautiful experience.

On the next part of the tour, we went to another area above a reef to snorkel. It was a bit crowded with so many people, but we were able to spot some amazing fish. Overall, the tour was well worth it. The staff was friendly and I got what I came for.

Guided Land Excursion

Another day of our trip was spent on the Punta Cana Mike Tour. Other than the beautiful beaches, this was the best part of our vacation. Mike was a local resident who provided tours around the city and had great insight into the culture and people.

Stops throughout the city include a cigar factory, an elegant jewelry store, a car wash (where the locals hang out), an elementary school, a farmers market, a beach and an outdoor eatery.

Our favorite part of the land tour was visiting the elementary school. It was an old stone building with bars in place of windows. Four rooms separated the children by age/grade level. As guests, we were allowed to go in to meet the students. Their little faces were adorable. All of them were grinning and excited to meet us. We researched ahead of time, so we knew guests were able to bring gifts for the kids. We had some candies and stickers, and it was so fun handing them all out.

Traveling to Punta Cana was an experience we will never forget. The beaches are stunning with aqua waters and soft white sand. Locals are friendly, always offering a smile. It is a destination we would recommend to anyone pursuing tropical happiness.

Best Times To Visit Punta Cana

The best time to visit Punta Cana is from December to April when the dry season in Punta Cana is at its peak. Luckily, the weather is warm year-round, with average highs around 80 degrees Fahrenheit. But keep in mind: The Dominican Republic experiences some of the effects of the Atlantic hurricane season, which lasts from June 1 to Nov. 30. Punta Cana is often spared from severe tropical storms, but the rainiest months are September and October. Still, this area of the Dominican Republic stays crowded no matter the season. If you're looking for the best time to visit in terms of the lowest prices and decent weather, May, June, November and December (up until Christmas) are the best months.

Sometimes you want a vacation where you explore hidden gems, visit cultural sites, or head to every museum in town. Other times, you want to enjoy some fun in the sun. Those looking for the latter should head to Punta Cana, a resort town in the Dominican Republic known for its fine white sands, clear ocean waters, and numerous all-inclusive resorts .

The Dominican resort town is on the island’s east coast, featuring nearly 20 miles of sandy beaches. The area is ideal for relaxing on the beach, all-inclusive cocktail in hand, and water activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, boating, jet skiing, and windsurfing.

Although the beach town was once known as Punta de Borrachón (Drunkard’s Point), these days, Punta Cana isn’t a party town, although it can be if that’s what you’re in the market for. Nowadays, Punta Cana is all about all-inclusive luxury resort experiences, from wellness to family-friendly to adults-only resorts .

Here are some of the best all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana for your next beach vacation, whether you’re a college student traveling with friends, on your honeymoon, or are parents looking to take the whole family along.

If you’re in the market for a child-free vacation, honeymoon, or a quiet break, these are the best adults-only all-inclusive hotels in Punta Cana .

1. Sanctuary Cap Cana, a Luxury Collection All-Inclusive Resort

Sanctuary Cap Cana Castle Island Suite

Rebranded and reopened in 2022, the Sanctuary Cap Cana is Marriott’s first luxury all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic. However, the brand has more than 30 all-inclusive properties within Latin America and the Caribbean.

If you’re after luxury, this is the Punta Cana all-inclusive resort for you. Beyond its 300+ suites and villas, the hotel, decked out in Spanish Colonial style, features a Castle accommodation section, including the opulent Castle Island Suite. This suite is on its own private island, complete with not 1 but 3 indoor plunge pools, butler service, 2 bedrooms, and 2.5 bathrooms.

Those happy with a regular suite won’t leave disappointed. Many of the suites feature outdoor space, jetted tubs, and ocean views, or are swim-up . And with 11 different restaurants and bars, various pools, and a stunning beach area along the serene Cap Cana coast, adults looking for a peaceful getaway will find it here.

Suite rates start at around $470 or 100,000+  Marriott Bonvoy points  per night.

Still figuring out how to get to Punta Cana? Use your points and miles to fly to the Caribbean . United, Delta, and American Airlines operate flights between several U.S. hubs and the Dominican beach town.

2. Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana

Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana

Another hotel located along the tranquil Cap Cana coast, the Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana is one of the newest and most contemporary Punta Cana all-inclusive resorts to visit for a luxurious, modern stay.

The hotel has so much to do that you don’t need to leave the resort. From 25 bars and restaurants to the beachfront infinity pool and the swim-up suites , you might want to stay forever — though the property is aptly located near golf courses, a marina, and eco-parks should you get the urge to leave.

It may be the ideal place to stay fit while on vacation, as the property is home to a 4,000-square-foot fitness center with numerous machines and weights, spinning bikes, and space for onsite activities like yoga, TRX, Zumba, and more.

Guests often choose this hotel because it’s adults-only. However, if you feel like getting in touch with your inner child (or being around many of them), guests can access the Canapolis Water Park , part of the neighboring family-friendly property Hyatt Ziva.

Room rates start at $485 or 35,000  World of Hyatt points  per night.

Have a stash of points and miles? Here are the best Punta Cana hotels to book with points (for max value).

3. Breathless Punta Cana & Spa

Breathless Punta Cana tropical cocktails at the pool

Breathless Punta Cana & Spa is an all-inclusive, adults-only resort under the Hyatt umbrella. Here, guests have equal opportunity to indulge in all things adult : rejuvenating morning yoga classes, tropical treatments at the Pevonia Spa, and boozy pool parties with DJs spinning beats.

The ideal resort for adults wanting a well-rounded stay that includes relaxation and energetic activity, guests have full access to the amenities at the Dreams Onyx Resort & Spa next door, a family-friendly resort with an onsite water park.

Guest rooms feature bold, Caribbean-inspired colors and decor with lush garden views. It’s worth upgrading to a swim-up suite, an Xhale Club room or suite, or the ultimate luxury, the Xhale Club Presidential Suites, with ocean views. All Xhale rooms and suites have access to 2 private Xhale Club pools, Xhale Club Lounge access, and butler service.

Room rates start at $305 or 17,000 World of Hyatt points per night.

Many of the hotels on this list are part of the Hyatt portfolio. You can earn Hyatt points with The World of Hyatt Credit Card , but one of the best ways to earn points that can transfer to the Hyatt program is with a credit card such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve ® or Chase Sapphire Preferred ® Card . Even if your chosen all-inclusive resort isn’t part of a points program, you can still earn 3x Chase Ultimate Rewards points for travel purchases when booking with the Chase Sapphire Reserve card.

4. Meliá Punta Cana Beach Wellness All-Inclusive Adults Only

Melia Punta Cana Beach pool and beach aerial

Adult travelers who want to focus on wellness should head to the Meliá Punta Cana Beach , a hotel with various wellness zones to encourage guests to relax, live in the moment, and get into vacation mode.

Guest rooms and suites are “ wellness-inclusive ,” meaning the coastal chic decor, inviting and comfortable beds, pool, garden, and beach views were explicitly created to help guests unwind and enjoy. And from daily yoga and shamanic drumming to complimentary bicycle use and paint-and-sip wine events, there are plenty of chill activities that all types of travelers can enjoy.

The hotel features the YHI Spa , a calming retreat that uses elements like water and nature to create an enticing space for guests to take a break and disconnect. Treatments include healing larimar hot stone therapy and coffee and sugar body scrubs. From lounging at the weaving, lagoon-style pool to testing out the healthy, fresh cuisine options, you’ll leave this resort feeling truly rejuvenated.

Room rates start around $200 per night.

5. Live Aqua Beach Punta Cana

Live Aqua Beach Punta Cana aerial view

From 400-thread count sheets to in-room Nespresso machines, Live Aqua Beach Punta Cana offers guests the utmost comfort. Guest rooms are comfortable and contemporary, and some suites have swim-up access . Honeymooners might opt for the honeymoon suite, which offers swim-up access and perks like a complimentary couples massage.

The hotel’s geometric, modern lines run from the guest rooms to the various pools — long, rectangular stretches of water flanked by cabanas and in-water lounge chairs.

The onsite fitness center offers sea views, while dining options range from French and Mexican to Italian and Japanese. Meanwhile, test out the Feel Harmony Spa by Live Aqua for the ultimate relaxation. It uses Natura Bissé products and offers luxurious services like citrus and oxygen treatments, detox marine wraps, and water rituals.

Room rates start at $390 per night; room rates for the honeymoon suite start at $650 per night. Make sure to join the Fiesta Rewards program to earn points on your stay, as well as perks and discounts.

6. Excellence Punta Cana

Excellence Punta Cana pool and beach view.

Excellence Punta Cana considers itself to be a “ bespoke all-inclusive experience ,” which we certainly find intriguing, as sometimes, during a larger all-inclusive resort experience, things like personal service tend to get lost in the chaos. But not at Excellence, which ensures every guest has the vacation they need.

Guests can explore the hotel’s lagoon-style pools beneath swaying palm trees on an idyllic stretch of white sands. There’s also a fitness center with gym equipment that offers cardio, Pilates, and yoga classes. The Miilé Spa is massive, complete with 14 treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, various sensations showers, a Swedish sauna, spa gardens, an ice room, and more.

The hotel is all-suite, with options ranging from the lowest-category garden view junior suites to oceanfront terrace suites with plunge pools. With more than 10 different bar and restaurant options, guests can choose from fresh seafood to Mexican or French cuisine and everything in between.

Suite rates start at $298 per night.

Not exactly sure what all-inclusive means ? While each hotel has its own rules and regulations about what all-inclusive rates include, in most hotels and resorts, it means that food, drinks, use of the resort’s facilities, and some activities are included . While some hotels worldwide offer all-inclusive rates (among other rates, like breakfast or half-board), most all-inclusive hotels in Punta Cana are fully all-inclusive with everything included.

Many hotels in Punta Cana are catered towards adults, but not necessarily adults-only. If you don’t mind spotting a lone child or teen at the pool or are hoping to enjoy an adult-centric all-inclusive without it feeling like you’re the only one not on your honeymoon, here are the best all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana for adults, from young adults to spring breakers to a solo getaway .

1. Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana

A bungalow at Zoetry

Zoëtry is an all-inclusive brand within the Hyatt portfolio that’s re-designed its all-inclusive experience to feel more personal. From authentic cuisine to guest-focused customer service to enriching and authentic attractions and activities, the brand strives to redefine the concept from an all-inclusive: think locally-sourced, curated gastronomy options vs. tourist hordes shoving each other to be first in line for french fries at the dinner buffet.

The Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana fits the brand’s profile perfectly, featuring just 96 suites, 4 à la carte restaurants, and a property that feels luxurious but also inspired by the local environment — think cane-thatched roofs that tower over balconies and in-room Jacuzzis. Other details include Bvlgari bath amenities, private plunge pools, daily afternoon tea time, and coral stone bathrooms .

From the Caribbean cuisine at the onsite restaurant Piragua to the citrus and marine-themed treatments at the spa, even the possibility of a helicopter transfer to the resort, a stay here will feel more like a boutique hotel than a traditional all-inclusive.

Room rates start at $450 or 35,000 World of Hyatt points per night.

2. Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Punta Cana

Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana balcony with guitar and tub

From doubling down at the Hard Rock Casino to finding your inner child at the hotel’s water park to snapping Instagrammable shots on the beachfront Hard Rock sign (think a la Hollywood sign-style), this is one of the best all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana for young adults or spring breakers . Top-shelf liquor is included in the all-inclusive rate, and you won’t have to leave to go dancing, thanks to the hotel’s onsite nightclub. This might be one of Punta Cana’s best all-inclusive resorts for college students looking for spring break fun in the sun.

And groups of friends can even have major jam sessions — the Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana allows guests to pick from 20 different Fender guitars and have one delivered directly to their room, alongside an amp and headphones.

That being said, families won’t be shunned here, as the onsite water park, numerous pools (including an adults-only option), arcade, laser tag, bowling area, and mini-golf may appeal to everyone. Even pets are welcome if you want to bring along furry friends.

Room rates start around $350 per night.

If you’re wondering whether or not to tip at all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, it varies. Tipping is optional at most resorts. If you’d like to tip, first find out if staff members are allowed to accept tips. In most cases, tipping is discretionary. If you feel like you’ve had great service, consider leaving a tip on the bed for housekeeping or at a restaurant after a meal you enjoyed. You can tip in either U.S. dollars or Dominican pesos.

Punta Cana is one of the top spots in the Caribbean to come with children, teens, and other family members. Many all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana have top family amenities. Some Punta Cana all-inclusive family resorts have water parks, kids’ clubs, and other children and teen-catered activities . These are the best family-friendly all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana.

1. Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana

Water slides at Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana water park

While the aforementioned Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana is adults-only, its sister site is the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana , which is the family version. If you’re in the market for a Punta Cana all-inclusive family resort with a water park, this is one of the best spots, thanks to its onsite Canapolis Water Park , complete with 5 slides. Both kids and adults will also love that non-motorized water sports are included, like kayaking and paddleboarding.

The hotel features The Lost City of Anac Pac Kids & Teen Club , with a spider zone play area, indoor treehouse, and teen lounge with video games. Meanwhile, parents can enjoy wellness activities, including Zumba, yoga, or Pilates classes at the 14,000-square-foot fitness center or head to the spa, which features 18 treatment rooms, a natural cave and lagoon, and the Dominican Republic’s first Himalayan Salt Lounge.

Regarding guest rooms, the hotel has 375 suites ideal for families — even the most basic room category, a junior suite with king rooms or double beds, has a living space that can turn into extra space for additional family members .

Suite rates start at around $500 or 35,000 World of Hyatt points per night.

2. Dreams Flora Resort & Spa

Dreams Flora Punta Cana

With numerous all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana as part of the Hyatt portfolio (including 5 different Dreams properties), you may wonder which is the best all-inclusive for you. Depending on your preference, you may be looking for an all-inclusive with swim-up rooms or a Punta Cana all-inclusive family resort with a water park. For those looking for a new hotel (but not so new it hasn’t yet worked on the kinks), choose the Dreams Flora Resort & Spa , which opened in December of 2022 . The hotel also has those aforementioned swim-up suites, as well as a water park.

Besides the 4 pools and water park , the property is ideal for families, from its giant chess board and indoor game room to its beach volleyball courts and basketball court. The hotel offers both the Core Zone for teens and the Explorers Club for children and childcare services (at an additional cost).

While the kids are safely enjoying activities in the aforementioned clubs, parents can dine and drink at 8 restaurants or 13 bars . Or, head to the Dreams Spa by Pevonia , featuring a hydrotherapy circuit, Vichy cabin, sauna, steam room, lounge room, indoor pool, and a full-service salon with beauty, nail, and hair treatments.

Room rates start at about $225 per night but can be double that in peak season. Points rates start at 17,000 World of Hyatt points per night.

3. Radisson Blu Resort & Residence Punta Cana

Dog at Radisson Blu Punta Cana by cocktail and pool

This all-suite hotel is perfect for families, and kids under 2 stay free. Even the most basic king suites have a small living space, coffee maker, outdoor terrace, and bathroom with a rainfall shower. Larger families should opt for a 2- or 3-bedroom condo — some even feature extensive private outdoor space, a whirlpool, and ocean views.

The Radisson Blu Resort & Residence Punta Cana ‘s lagoon-style pool weaves through the center of the property, meaning you can find family-friendly sections and quieter areas to relax. And while some all-inclusive resorts may upcharge you for certain amenities, this resort includes everything, from speedy Wi-Fi to beachside cocktails to 24-hour dining. The fitness center is open 24 hours, too.

The kids’ club is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features activities like arts and crafts, video games, supervised swimming, and water activities. Meanwhile, parents can relax on the palm tree-lined beach or head to the spa, which offers treatments such as seaweed facials, after-sun rituals, and sea salt polishes. You can even bring your dog along to join the family fun, as the hotel allows 1 dog per room up to 18 pounds.

Suite rates start at $230 or 75,000 Radisson Rewards points per night.

4. Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana

Guests getting slimed Nickelodeon Hotel

The name of this resort, Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana , tells you right away it will be family-friendly. From the Agua Nick Waterpark to the Nickelodeon characters that roam the breakfast buffet and the Nickelodeon-themed villas, children of all ages will love this family-friendly, all-inclusive Punta Cana resort . And the hotel’s gourmet all-inclusive package includes everything, from premium liquor to slime cocktails for the kids.

It wouldn’t be Nickelodeon without slime, and the Club Nick Kids Club and the Nickelodeon Palace have plenty to offer, from slime experiences to dance parties, ball pits, a baby zone, and plenty of other activities to keep the kids occupied.

Just because the hotel feels kid-themed doesn’t mean adults don’t get a relaxing vacation. From luxury swim-up suites to 4 pools, 9 restaurants, 3 bars, and a spa, adults can take advantage of several activities.

For a fun kid-friendly splurge, consider the Pineapple Suite, modeled after SpongeBob SquarePants’s undersea home, with 2 bedrooms, 3 marble bathrooms, a signature infinity pool, and an outdoor patio. Rooms even feature baby-friendly amenities, such as bottle warmers, strollers, and cribs.

Room rates start at $380 per night.

One of the best ways to enjoy the Dominican resort town of Punta Cana is by staying at an all-inclusive resort. An all-inclusive trip to Punta Cana is best when you’re in the mood for a beach-themed getaway and don’t feel like exploring the surrounding area or doing many off-the-resort activities . In most cases, all-inclusive hotels in Punta Cana include all food and drinks, entertainment, and activities, though inclusions may vary by resort. Whether you’re in the market for a family-friendly experience, the best all-inclusive for young adults, or an adults-only Caribbean retreat, Punta Cana has an all-inclusive hotel for you.
