Key Takeaways

While creating this list of the best travel clothing for men, I searched the market far and wide to discover exactly what’s out there. The Vuori Strato Tech Tee is hands down one of the best travel items you can get your hands on. Vuori is a brand centered around modern activewear which fits right in with a travel wardrobe. The Roark Layover 2.0 Pants can serve as another great option for anyone with a long flight looming on the horizon.

Final Verdict

Best overall: vuori strato tech tee.

Why it’s great: Travel comfort always starts with a versatile t-shirt, which is why the Vuori Strato Tech Tee is one of the best men’s travel clothes items. This tee is made primarily of polyester which is naturally moisture-wicking and odor-resistant. This shirt can be worn on its own in warm weather and just as easily layered if you travel to a cooler environment. Oh, and it offers UPF protection if you’re planning to be out in the sun a lot.

Who is this for: This shirt is perfect for anyone who loves a laid-back, classic look while traveling. It’s super soft and breathable, which is sure to make it one of the most comfortable options in your wardrobe. It also features a modern athletic fit, which means it might run a bit on the small side.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: The biggest flaw with this t-shirt is the admittedly thin material. In certain lighting, the shirt may be a bit see-through–especially in the lighter colorways.

Material: 96% Polyester, 4% Elastane | Sizes: XXS-XXXL | Colors: 14 | Care: Machine Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low

Best Shoe: Tropicfeel Dune

Why they’re great: Tropicfeel is a go-to brand for all things travel. These Dune sneakers feature sprint laces and foldable heels which make it effortless to get them on and off. If you’re traveling somewhere wet, these shoes are also very water-friendly–they can literally be worn while swimming. Not to mention, you can easily pack these shoes down to throw them in a bag if need be.

Who is this for: These are perfect for someone who wants to be comfortable and prepared for anything. The AirTech mesh uppers of these shoes make them breathable, and the grippy rubber outsoles provide solid traction—even in slick environments.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: The biggest flaw of these shoes is that they can degrade quickly—especially the insoles. However, if you wear them moderately and take good care of them, they should last a reasonable amount of time.

Material: 77% Recycled Polyester, 23% Polyester | Sizes: 6-12.5 | Colors: 6 | Care: Machine Washable (Short Cycle)

Best Luxury: Aurélien Extrafine Merino Crew Neck Sweater

Why it’s great: This Extrafine Aurélien Merino Sweater is the perfect choice when you want to travel in class. Merino wool is among some of the best fabrics for travel because of its natural benefits such as comfort, odor resistance, and temperature regulation. Not to mention, this sweater is offered in 14 classy colors with sizes ranging from small to triple extra-large.

Who is this for: If you’re looking to stay classy but oh so comfortable, this is for you. This sweater combines the best traits of merino wool and cashmere for a silky smooth experience all around.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: There’s not much to complain about with this refined sweater besides its high price tag. But that should be expected for a luxury item such as this one.

Material: 100% Extrafine Merino Wool | Sizes: S-XXXL | Colors: 14 | Care: Handwash, Air Dry

Best Budget: Gildan Men’s Underwear Boxer Briefs

Why they’re great: Underwear is an underappreciated component of travel comfort. These Gildan Boxer Briefs feature a standard 6-inch inseam, and a flexible waistband to provide maximum comfort making them one of the best travel clothes for men. The cotton and polyester blend is also moisture-wicking and breathable , so you never get too hot down there.

Who is this for: These are great for men who just want to stay comfy. As far as boxer briefs go, these are an extremely soft and comfortable option that will keep your most delicate areas cozy.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: The legs of these boxer briefs can ride up pretty easily. However, in my experience, this is pretty much inescapable with most pairs of boxer briefs on the market.

Material: 90% Cotton, 10% Polyester | Sizes: S-XXL | Colors: 7 | Care: Machine Washable

Best On Amazon: Amazon Essentials Men’s Fleece Sweatpants

Why they’re great: These Amazon Essentials Fleece Sweatpants offer a solid amount of insulation for travel in cold weather. The relaxed fit provides just enough space and flexibility to move around comfortably. The drawstring waistband also adds to the overall comfort of these sweatpants–especially when sitting for extended periods of time.

Who is this for: Want to stay comfy but not look like you’re wearing pajamas ? These are for you. These sweatpants are pretty much on par with any other pair of sweatpants out there–casual and comfortable.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: These sweatpants are on the cheaper side which means the material isn’t exactly the best. They may not last a very long time if you plan to wear them frequently.

Material: 52% Cotton, 48% Polyester | Sizes: XS-7XL BIG | Colors: 14 | Care: Machine Washable

Best For Long-Haul Flights: Roark Layover 2.0 Pants

Why they’re great: When looking for maximum comfort and the best men’s travel clothes for long flights, you should never overlook what pants you choose to wear. The Roark Layover 2.0 Pants are built with long flights in mind, utilizing a 2-way blended stretch fabric. These pants feature a drawstring waistband which negates the need to take your belt off when going through TSA. The oversized zipper pockets also provide plenty of storage while reducing the risk of precious items slipping out while abroad.

Who is this for: These are for men who don’t necessarily want to don sweats but do want to be comfortable. These pants feature a standard slim fit which means they aren’t super baggy, but they won’t suffocate your legs either. The perforated back panel of the waistband also provides plenty of airflow for hot environments.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: Unfortunately, the drawstring waistband may not provide as much support as you’d like while wearing these pants. If the pants aren’t fitted properly, they can easily sag at your waist.

Material: 72% Cotton, 26% Nylon, 4% Elastane | Sizes: 28-40 | Colors: 8 | Care: Machine Wash Cold, Hang Dry

Best Hat: Tillak Wallowa Camp Hat

Why it’s great: The Wallowa Camp Hat from Tillak is an excellent 5-panel cap to easily tame a messy mane. This hat is both lightweight and breathable, while the full nylon construction helps to dry up quickly if you get caught in the rain. It can also be rolled up and packed away easily, ready to be on hand whenever necessary.

Who is this for: If you’re like me and need an emergency hat on hand in case of bad hair days (or you’re just not sure if you’ll need one) this bad boy is perfect. It offers a solid range of adjustments to make it comfortable for even the biggest noggins out there. It’s also extremely light so you’ll hardly notice it once it’s on.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: Some reviewers have complained about how stiff the bill of this hat is. This is most likely by design because 5-panel hats typically have more rigid bills than other cap options.

Material: 100% Nylon | Sizes: N/A | Colors: 6 | Care: Hand Wash, Hang Dry

Best Layer: Tom Beckbe Loudoun Quilted Vest

Why It’s Great: The Tom Beckbe Loudoun Quilted Vest is an ideal travel companion due to its lightweight yet warm construction, thanks to the 100g Thermore polyfill insulation. Its windproof and water-resistant shell makes it versatile for various weather conditions, ensuring you stay comfortable on the go. The antique brass zipper closure and adjustable waist tabs add both style and functionality, making it easy to layer over other travel clothes.

How It Feels: This vest feels incredibly comfortable with its soft, brushed fabric lining in the handwarmer pockets, providing a cozy refuge for your hands. The corduroy-lined collar adds a touch of luxury, while the vest itself is lightweight and non-bulky, perfect for all-day wear. It fits just below the waist, offering a flattering and secure fit without restricting movement.

Flaws But Not Dealbreakers: The fit might be snug for those who prefer looser clothing, especially when layered over thicker garments. While water-resistant, it may not hold up in heavy rain for extended periods, limiting its use in very wet climates. Additionally, the premium quality and design come at a higher price point, but its durability and style make it a worthy investment for frequent travelers.

Sizes Available : S-XXL |  Colors Available : 6 |  Insulation : 100g Thermore polyfill | Material : 100% Polyester |  Weight : N/A

Best Merino Travel Piece: Swiftwick Pursuit One

Why they’re great: These Swiftwick Pursuit One socks are made with a technical fiber merino wool blend, which offers just the right amount of cushion and comfort for most types of travel. These socks insulate your feet in cold conditions, yet they’re still breathable for warm weather. Not to mention, the Pursuit line is available in 6 different cuff heights to cover just about everything from a no-show sock to a boot sock.

Who is this for: If you prefer the heel-toe express to cabs and trains, you’ll want the comfort these socks offer. These socks offer a great balance between cushion and compression. They also do a great job of preventing blisters, even after being worn for hours on end.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: These socks are not impervious to holes which will likely develop after extended usage. The rate at which these holes occur depends on how frequently you wear them and how active you are while wearing them.

Material: 63% Merino Wool, 35% Nylon, 2% Spandex | Sizes: S-XL | Colors: 3 | Care: Machine Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low.

Best For Cold Weather: Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket

Why it’s great: If you’re taking a trip home for the holidays to chilly temperatures, it’s great to have something like the Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket to keep you warm. Since this is a puffer jacket , it’s lightweight yet still offers a solid amount of insulation and wind resistance. It’s also able to be packed down into a small square that should easily fit in a weekender bag or duffel bag .

Who is this for: Not too sure what the weather’s gonna be like? Tight on packing space? This is for you. This jacket is extremely comfortable, providing a reasonable amount of warmth against the cold–it’s even better when layered.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: The thread on this jacket tends to come loose pretty easily. However, Patagonia is very accommodating with clothing repairs and may fix certain issues free of charge.

Material: 100% Recycled Polyester, PrimaLoft Gold Insulation | Sizes: XS-XXXL | Colors: 7 | Care: Machine Wash (Gentle Cycle), Tumble Dry Low

Best Formal Wear: xSuit 5.0

Why it’s great: The xSuit 5.0 is a reinvention of your granddad’s suit, with wrinkle-resistant and water-resistant stretch fabric. There’s also no need to take this suit to the dry cleaners because it’s machine-washable—perfect for business trips and destination weddings. You probably don’t even need to store this suit in a garment bag while traveling—although, a little extra protection never hurts.

Who is this for: This is for the modern swanky traveler who doesn’t want to compromise on style. This suit is made with 8-way stretch fabric which all but guarantees it’ll be one of the most comfortable suits you’ve ever worn.

Flaws but not dealbreakers: Some reviewers claim this suit looks pretty cheap despite the $600 price tag. This may come down to the material or the simplistic design of this suit, but it’s ultimately a matter of subjectivity.

Material: Techwool Blend | Sizes: 34-52 (Jacket), 28-46 (Waist) | Colors: 5 | Care: Machine Wash Cold (Gentle Cycle), Hang Dry

Buying Considerations For Men’s Travel Clothes

Material plays a critical role in clothing comfort—especially when you’re looking at the best travel clothing for men. Ideal travel clothing should be soft and flexible to accommodate your body’s natural range of movement. Merino wool is an excellent option because of the many natural benefits associated with it. Some other solid materials are polyester, elastane, and viscose. It’s also important to look for materials that offer some degree of odor resistance, which many of these options do.

Versatility

Versatility is also an important factor in great travel clothing. It’s always easier to pack one item that can be worn three different ways rather than three separate items that can only be worn one way. Most importantly, you want clothes that can provide you with plenty of options, which is key while on the go. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice your style just because you’re away from home.

Destination

Your travel destination is obviously another important factor when deciding what to throw in the suitcase. Are you traveling somewhere with plenty of sunshine? Somewhere below freezing? Your wardrobe should always reflect the environment you’re about to enter. This doesn’t just apply to weather either, it applies to the general attire of your destination as well–especially when heading abroad. Unfortunately, tourists are a prime target to scam while traveling, and that’s much easier to do if you stick out like a sore thumb. So, try to dress appropriately for your desired location.

There are plenty of clothes out there that can be used when traveling, but it can be difficult to pinpoint the options that are truly the best.

That’s why each product on this list had to be evaluated by certain credentials in order to qualify for consideration.

Brand Reputation: Does the brand have a positive reputation in the public eye, and is it well-known for producing good products?

Customer Reviews: Does a customer stand by their purchase or do they regret the decision? Negative reviews are inevitable, but is there some validity in the critiques made by reviewers?

Personal Experience: Do I have personal experience with the product or the brand?

Value: Does a product’s quality correlate with the price that is asked of you?

Overall, it’s hard to beat a solid t-shirt when looking for the best men’s travel clothes. With a high level of versatility and comfort, the  Vuori Strato Tech Tee can serve as your perfect travel companion. The Roark Layover 2.0 Pants are another fantastic option that can make any kind of travel a breeze.

Preferably clothes that are comfortable and antimicrobial to prevent odor build-up. Sometimes you might be staying in a dingy motel, or you might even sleep in the car. This is why it’s super important to wear clothes that will remain cozy and clean, even after multiple days of use.

As someone who often wears jeans to the airport, I’ve found that it ultimately depends on the type of jeans you wear. Tight-fitting jeans that constrict your legs will likely prove to be a nightmare for most of if not all of your flight. However, relaxed-fit jeans are generally pretty comfortable, and they can be just as great of an option as many other pants out there.

It should probably go without saying, but any clothes that you don’t find comfortable should be left at home while traveling. The last thing you want when on a 12-hour flight across the globe is to suffer through a pair of tight pants or itchy socks.

A Summer Capsule Wardrobe Will Simplify Your Packing Process

All products featured on Condé Nast Traveler are independently selected by our editors. However, when you buy something through our retail links, we may earn an affiliate commission.

Finding reliable clothing staples to rewear again and again helps us all to become more sustainable travelers—and refrain from overpacking. When building a summer travel capsule wardrobe, versatile and comfortable basics are key: Rather than packing a suitcase full of trendy items or statement outfits you'll only wear once, consider investing in basics you can pair with several outfits and wear from day to night. To lay the foundation, we've put together a list of top summer wardrobe essentials, whether you’re headed to a beach vacation in Mexico or are planning to eat your way through Italy . No matter where your upcoming travel plans take you, these are the pieces you’ll be glad you packed. From crisp white button-downs and lightweight linen dresses to walking sandals and packable beach totes, you can count on them to keep your packing list short and your outfit options long.

Below, 13 pieces to build a summer travel capsule wardrobe, with men's and women's styles from brands we love: Everlane, Lululemon, Banana Republic, and more. Keep scrolling to see them all or jump right to your item of choice.

Build your summer capsule wardrobe:

The breathable tank top, the perfect short, the linen pant, the classic button-down, the basic tee, the midi dress, the midi skirt, the exercise dress, the white sneaker, the walking sandal, the comfortable heel, the quality bathing suit, the packable tote.

Hot summer days mean you’ll need a few basic tanks. Ribbed tank tops are always a smart choice—they're both comfortable and flattering. If you want something that looks a little more put together with a pair shorts or a midi skirt, I wear this seamless bodysuit from Amazon constantly (it’s double-lined and I own it in multiple colors). Nike and Lululemon make some of our favorite performance tanks for men—they’re available in a variety of colors, too.

Finding a trusted pair of shorts can feel nearly impossible. We chose options that aren’t too short, so you can avoid unwanted chafing while still keeping cool. High-waisted, light wash options are ideal for hot summer days and pair well with just about any top in your suitcase.

For something a little more breezy, opt for a pair of linen pants. Whether I'm headed to a barbecue or lunch by the pool, I'm always gravitating toward linen in the warmer months. Lightweight, packable, and chic—it's the ultimate summer pant.

Image may contain: Clothing, Home Decor, Linen, Pants, Adult, and Person

Every traveler needs a go-to tee . A basic T-shirt pairs well with almost any pair of shorts, linen pants, or skirt you pack this summer (sometimes I even throw one underneath a sleeveless dress). Cotton tees from Everlane, Skims, True Classic, and Cuts are breathable and lightweight, making them year-round staples for every type of packing list . No matter where I'm headed, whether it's a beach trip in Miami or a cabin getaway in Vermont, I have at least two comfy tees in my weekender .

Along with a plain white tee, I never travel without a button-down —I wear these with denim, as a cover-up by the pool , or over a slip dress at night if it gets a little chilly. For something ultra lightweight, a linen button-down will keep you cool and covered.

One of the most fun items to pack for summer: midi dresses . Staple pieces like this rib tank dress from Buck Mason and Abercrombie's linen blend dress are always smart options, but for something with a little more flare, I’m eyeing colorful picks from Lulus, Farm Rio, and Banana Republic. Whether you’re headed to a dinner party or want to explore a new city in style, these dresses scream summer and are easy to throw on with any pair of sandals.

Equally elegant and comfortable, a midi skirt can be dressed up or down with a pair of low heels, sneakers, or sandals. A skirt like this elevates an otherwise simple look and can be reworn endlessly throughout a trip with any of your favorite tanks, tees, or blouses. We love these chic styles from Free People, Banana Republic, and Cuyana, but for something under $40, Amazon brand The Drop's high-waisted skirt is a great staple.

Image may contain: Clothing, Dress, Adult, Person, Accessories, Jewelry, Necklace, Fashion, Footwear, Shoe, and Beachwear

Ideal for active travelers and especially hot destinations, exercise dresses are supportive enough for hikes and workout classes, while doubling as a cute daytime outfit. I don't always work out on a trip, but when I do, a sporty yet feminine exercise dress is the way to go—I'll wear one for a morning walk and still feel put together enough for breakfast at the hotel and whatever comes next. For practicality and comfort, I love ones that have built-in shorts underneath, like the Outdoor Voices style.

Image may contain: Clothing, Tank Top, Dress, and Vest

When it comes to essential shoes, every traveler needs a crisp pair of white sneakers . It’s always my most-worn shoe on every trip, especially when there’s a walking tour on the itinerary. Some of our team's favorite comfortable white sneakers come from Nike, Lululemon, and Adidas, with men’s and women’s sizes available for each.

Summer sandals can be a tricky shoe to purchase: You want a pair that can withstand a good amount of walking without causing blisters, but that still leaves you looking put together. These options below from Rothy's, Olukai, Birkenstock, and Teva can take you from the pool to lunch to sightseeing around town. Comfortable, versatile, and packable, a good walking sandal is simply a must.

For those summer nights when you need something a little more elevated than your favorite pair of sandals, a comfortable heel is a must-have. Black, ivory, or nude heels match just about any midi dress you toss in your carry-on . The height of these heels is just right—high enough to wear to any destination weddings or special events you're attending, but low enough to actually dance the night away in. Bonus points for block heels and mules—both styles are easier to walk in and provide decent stability on uneven ground.

travel outfit ideas for summer for mens

No matter where I’m headed—beach vacation or not—I always pack a bathing suit . You can't go wrong with a supportive one-piece or high-waisted set. Some of our favorite men's swim trunks are from Todd Snyder and Lacoste, but we have plenty more options where that came from.

travel outfit ideas for summer for mens

A packable tote bag that you can bring to the beach, shopping, or to the hotel pool will always come in handy. When I'm low on suitcase space, I prefer one that can lay completely flat—like Rothy's Lightweight Tote. These roomy, beachy bags all fit a day's worth of essentials, including a beach towel , water bottle, and lots of sunscreen .

travel outfit ideas for summer for mens

Summer is right around the corner. Before you know it, summer fashion will be in full swing and that includes travel fashion. This is the time you can pull out your cooler and more breathable clothes and big hats , experiment with styles and try lighter fabrics. Not to mention all of the sleek and sharp accessories you can sport during this season.

When getting ready for summer trips and getaways, the outfits and accessories to wear for the destination are always in mind. You know what to pack for when you get there but what are you wearing along the way. Did you consider the best summer outfits to travel in as you are in transit to your summer destination?

Before the summer sneaks up on you, now is the time to start thinking about your summer traveling outfit ideas. Every year there are new releases and reimaginings of classic styles to offer plenty of options when it comes to men’s fashion. Keep in mind these six best summer traveling outfit ideas for men as you prepare your closet for this summer.

When it comes to travel fashion, you can go all out or lowkey. The main goal is to look stylish and comfortable. If your outfit does both, you are golden. Unless you enjoy Avant guard fare, you do not have to overthink it and can the maximum impact from the minimal effort. Picking the right summer traveling outfit involves looking at all of the elements of your outfit.

Go Easy on the Color

Going easy on the color can be taken as picking one color, working in one color family, entirely monochrome or neutral colors. You may hear this more often than not that neutral and solid color outfits appear more sophisticated. Sticking with one color or staying in one color family gives your outfit a clean and polished look, so you look refined while traveling.

In addition to this, choosing to stay within certain colors makes it easier while traveling in case of hiccups and accidents. For example, most tend to stay away from light colors and whites (unless they have a handy portable cleaning tool) as these colors tend to dirty easily. Bright colors are also avoided due to the extra attention the colors draw.

Choose Tops with Lightweight and Breathable Material

As you make your way to your destination, you want to be comfortable and that’s what shirts made of lightweight, breathable fabrics offer. You do not want to feel weighed down or heavy while you travel. That can lead to travel fatigue. Depending on how you travel, heavy and thick fabrics can increase your discomfort or any travel-related illnesses like motion sickness.

General shirts and t-shirts are the way to go. You may even consider a mesh t-shirt if you are prone to excessive sweating and overheating while traveling. Starting with a thin and breathable shirt also allows you to layer up if you are progressively heading into a cooler or colder climate.

Keep Light Outwear on Hand

No matter how you are traveling, you want to carry a light piece of outwear, whether a light jacket or a thin sweater. Your travel transportation may have you going in and out of environments with different temperatures. In and out of airports. Blasting AC in your car. Touch landing in a cooler destination.

A popular favorite is the all-around denim jacket . Denim jackets can just about go with any outfit and offer functionality and fashionability. Aside from climate changes, in the event of an accidental coffee spill or pizza drop, you can always cover up with your outwear.

Choose Comfortable Pants

travel outfit ideas for summer for mens

Nothing is quite as torturous as sitting in itchy or tight pants and you certainly don’t want to travel that way. When it comes to your travel pants comfort is the way to go; so, you can never go wrong with relaxed jeans, jogging pants, or chinos If you are not a fan of jeans, you can trade them out for pants like khakis .

These three pants styles provide a range of comfort and styles. They can be dressed up so it also doesn’t look like you went from the gym to the plane, grocery store to train, or beach to car. When you choose your pants keep in mind fabrics, design, and color, so in addition to comfort, you can match it to your top and any extra layers you packed for while you travel.

Slide into Comfortable Shoes

Traveling will put you on your feet and not having the right footwear can start your summer travel off all wrong. It’s important to consider your mode of transportation when choosing your travel shoes.

You’re going to be moving until you rest at your destination, so your shoes ought to be comfortable, have proper build, and have good arch support. If you are traveling by car, train, or bus, your most comfortable pair of athletic or casual shoes (that go with your outfit) will work.

If you are traveling by air, you should find a pair of breathable shoes as your feet will naturally swell while on a plane due to changes in altitude. Your breathable shoes may also be paired with compression socks to regulate circulation while flying.

If you have any medical conditions, compression socks, in general, are a must-have travel accessory. Don’t worry your pants will cover them.

Keep a Travel Bag

A travel outfit is not quite complete with an off-body accessory like a bag. Bags are always a travel essential for carrying necessary items such as wallets, phones, other electronics, and travel snacks. You can pair any style of bag with your outfit. Popular choices include backpacks , briefcases, and duffle bags.

travel outfit ideas for summer for mens

Summer days in Paris or summer nights in the Bahamas; wherever you plan to head to this summer, you can travel comfortably and in style. Taking an effort to plan your travel attire shows an elevated personal style and care in appearance. It does not have to be as challenging as you might think either.

You don’t have to wait until you get to your summer destination to look good. You can turn heads on the way there. Don’t go overboard on the colors. Choose light breathable fabrics for tops and bottoms and make sure you are comfortable with what you are wearing. Happy traveling.

BannerImg

We first spoke about must-have travel outfits for women and then we thought, why leave the poor boys out? There are a few must-have travel outfits for men as well – to keep in their wardrobe all the time or to take with them when travelling. These outfits for men will help them not only carry themselves confidently but also are way too comfortable.

If you have the things listed below in your wardrobe already but are dumped at the back, take it out and start reusing it. And if there is something in the list below that you don’t have, go get it because these things will work like magic in your day to day life as well as in your travel baggage. These amazingly comfortable travel outfits for men are also extremely affordable and very much in trend these days. And it’s not to say that you should take all of these on every trip! Just keep ’em handy in your wardrobe and pack as per your destination or itinerary. Take a notepad and start writing boys and men!

Travel Outfits for men to have in their wardrobe

You must be aware of the casual and the formal shirts that are available in the market. But did you know, the shirts are not only differentiated on the basis of the collars but also on the basis of cuffs. Here are a few types of them that will help you choose your style of shirts. Elitify is one brand that you do not want to miss shopping from. They have every brand categorized with them.

a. Based on collars

Spread collars.

More like a formal shirt that you can wear with a bow tie or a normal tie. Its collars are a little spread to give space to your tie knot to be completely visible. It looks more classy when worn with chinos pants. It is good if the shirt is of a slim fit style.

Ready to go spread collar shirts - Travel outfits for men

Semi-spread

Its collars are a little compact than the spread color shirts. They give your tie knot a very clean and compact look for formal or semi-formal look. These look Classy with folded sleeves and also with a jacket over them. Choose your style and nothing can beat it.

Point collar

It is even further compact than semi-spread shirts. But if you have a semi-spread collar shirt, you are good to go. You don’t need a point collar shirt. If you have them already, don’t wear it with a tie, instead wear it with a jacket to give it a semi-formal look for your travel outfits. For a formal look, nothing can look better than a point collar shirt.

Buttoned down

This type of shirt is supposed to be a semi-formal look for you. Never wear it with a tie or a bow, it won’t be visible. A pair of jeans or chinos will make a great set. These are the most common styled shirts but somehow never fails to set a trend on fire.

These can be matched with a pair of jeans or chinos and loafers or sneakers.

These shirts do not set any barriers when it comes to travel outfits for men. You can just carry them on your dinner dates or for a beach day with shorts and you’re done!

Mandarin shirt types have an unfolded stand up collar. These collars are 2-4 inches above the neckline. This gives an ethnic as well as a casual look to your attire. Nothing above this shirt can make you feel comfortable and trendy. A more casual and classy look than this is not possible. This is a travel outfit you men should have in your wardrobe.

b. Based on the cuffs

This cuff has just one button on the cuffs and gives a crisp look to your attire. A crisp cuff can make your shirt look more than perfect. Probably this is what you are looking for when you go on a dinner date after having struck gold on Tinder or Bumble.

One button cuffs for shirts - Travel outfits for men

This shirt cuff has an elegant mitered angle at the button closure. If you are a little too much into perfection this shirt is for your fashion statement. The sleeves are a little visible when worn with a jacket. The shirts with these cuffs come with a slim fit usually.

This cuff is rounded and has two buttons instead of one button. It’s a little more stylish than one button cuff shirts. It usually should come out when you wear a coat or a jacket over it. Probably with a leather jacket and a pair of loafers, your men’s travel outfit will be complete and amazing.

This can make a good tuxedo shirt and can be worn with beautiful cuff links. It gives a very smart look when folded back. If not for your travel outfits, at least buy this for your official trips. Nothing more classic and formal you can buy.

2. Trousers

Every guy has a pair of jeans which is his lifetime favourite jeans, which is good. A pair of jeans in your wardrobe is something that completes your wardrobe. Apart from jeans, you have so many other choices that can make your appearance go charismatic. Here are a few types or travel outfits for men when it comes to the pants department.

Corduroy Trousers

These trousers are the most underused trousers, but if worn correctly corduroy trousers can work wonders. The fabric itself gives a formal look. It comes in stripes and can be worn with corduroy suits. When paired with a shirt or a graffiti t-shirt and sneakers probably this attire can turn heads for you. So go on, check this off in your travel outfits for men list.

This is a casual trouser that gives a completely classic look when worn with a pair of casual shoes. Go easy on the attire when you wear it. Sneakers and a full sleeve t-shirt or loafer and a shirt with sleeves folded. WOW!

Cropped Trousers

A little above the ankle and a little below from the waist they make it just right when worn with a casual or mandarin shirt and a pair of sneakers. Shirts will go perfectly with them and t-shirts are I guess made for these cropped trousers. These are casual and trendy.

Cargo pants

If you are a pocket lover, this is a perfect choice for you. It is quite comfortable with 2-4 extra pockets so that you can keep some extra stuff for your journey. This is lower waisted and can go with any shirt or any graffiti t-shirt. Just match it with a pair of sneakers or loafers.

3. Reversible belt

These are two belts in a price of one. This dual coloured belt has a twist-able buckle that allows you to twist and wear the colour you want to according to the attire. This is a must thing you need to have in your wardrobe.

4. Wrinkle-free suits

The next time you plan to buy a three piece or four piece suit for yourself, plan and buy a wrinkle-free one because while travelling you won’t be able to iron it every time, so instead look for option 2, which is just the best when travelling for office trips.

Man in wrinkle free suit - Travel outfits for men

Different shoes with different attires, men have one shoe per attire ready. No idea why women are accused of having plenty of shoes in their drawers. Men have an equal number of shoe trends. Few of them are mentioned below, choose your attire type and choose comfort wise to make your travel outfits for men complete.

Open laces shoes and quite comfortable Derby shoes were originally meant to be worn with formals strictly. But that is not how it works these days. Wearing these shoes with shirts and chinos gives the attire a very different look, #breakthestereotype. You go, boy! Derby shoes are available on Elitify as a separate category for you to see and select your type. These make for classy travel outfits for men.

Shiny black derby shoes - Travel outfits for men

The ‘casual attire’ look is never complete without sneakers. It’s not only comfortable but also comes in price ranges from low to high. This is a travel wardrobe must have. There is nothing with which these shoes do not go.

Sneakers for casual wear travel outfits for men

This one type of shoe is a universal type of shoe. Wear it with casuals, or formals, semi-formals or the cargo looks, this piece will go with anything and everything. Shorts, cargo pants, Chinos and what not. Nothing can stop this piece from rocking the stage.

6. Sunglasses

This particular item is choice based and no man who is a style freak can complete his wardrobe without it. Just make sure whatever shape and size you buy, it should be UV resistant. All your travel outfits are just incomplete without a good pair of sunglasses. Shoppers Stop has a wide variety of sunglasses available in different price ranges. You can also try LensKart which has a huge variety and range. If you have a favorite brand then you can shop for those specifically from their outlets.

Man wearing Sunglasses - important piece of travel outfits for men

Not only shirts or trousers but men also have choices in socks too. Trust me, girls do not have these many options for travel outfits.

To go with loafers

These thin layered socks that are less than ankle length is fit for loafers. These are not visible and do not make your shoes look shabby. Because of these, just the loafers are visible not the socks.

Ankle cut socks to wear with loafers - Travel outfits for men

Ankle length

If you are planning to wear chinos and sneakers below them, then ankle length is what you want to choose for your attire. They maintain a grip of your ankle and helps your loafers or sneakers stay in place. If you are wearing a new pair of shoes, never ever wear them without ankle length socks. They will protect you from getting a shoe bite.

Plain ankle length socks - Travel outfits for men

Mid-calf socks are worn with formal pants and shoes. Its thick fabric makes it comfortable for you to wear formal shoes without getting a shoe bite and provides firmness.

Although don’t wear them in that mismatched multi-colour nightmare of a way like in the image below 😉

Mid calf length socks - Travel outfits for men

Knee length

It is mostly worn by players for firmness and comfort while playing. It makes running easy. So if you have a game plan for your travel trip, go for these because they will maintain a grip for you to play comfortably and happily.

Ankle length socks for a good game plan or even a trek - Travel outfits for men

These are some basic things you will need if you are planning a trip ( personal or official). Also if you are considering to redefine your travel wardrobe, this list is a must for it. If you have them, great! If not, grab them, boys! Look great and travel the world.

Men’s Summer Fashion: What To Wear In Hot, Humid Weather

travel outfit ideas for summer for mens

Gents, it’s sweaty out there. You want to know exactly what to wear and how to dress to stay cool (but still look hot, obviously). I hear ya! In this post, we’re gonna go through all the men’s summer fashion essentials—the types of clothes that are best suited for hot weather, plus a few outfit ideas to keep you looking sharp.

The minute you step outside, you feel the oppressive sun beating down and the moisture floating in the air. You’re doing your best to not melt down into a sweaty puddle on the ground.

You’re wiping your brow constantly; your clothes stick to your back, forming abstract sweat blots like a Rorschach test.

How’s an effortless gent like you supposed to dress well and stay cool? This, my friend, is one of those situations where you can have your cake and eat it too.

In this guide, I’m going to lay out everything you need to know about men’s summer fashion. We’ll cover how to dress sharp in hot, humid weather, the best summer clothes for men, how they should fit, the ideal fabrics and colors, and all while staying as cool and sweat-free as possible.

By the way, this is a HUGE article, so we’ve provided a Table of Contents below. Also, keep in mind if you’re reading this in the off-season (e.g. winter in America), some of the links may not work, because brands are busy selling winter clothing 😉

So let’s get started, shall we?

Jump To Any Section

The Best Summer Colors, Fabric, and Fit

layering in summertime lightweight layers and colors vs layering in wintertime with heavy layers and dark colors

You know how the clothing we wear in winter is generally heavier, darker, and more substantial? Same goes for the summer styles men look best in, except the complete opposite : everything is lighter, brighter, and lacking in heft and bulk.

Let’s break each one down:

The best colors for summer clothes

summer clothes for men - nantucket red shorts with a light blue button up shirt sunglasses and brown loafers

In general, you’ll want to wear light colors in the summer . Lighter colors will keep you cool as they reflect the most light. So white, light blue, light grey, and tan / khaki are all “neutrals” (i.e. colors that can serve as your base and go well with all other colors in an outfit).

Navy and olive also fall into the neutrals category, but since they’re not light colors, we’ll ignore them for now.

Summer is a great time to add brighter pops of color as well.

If you’re just learning how to incorporate more color, start by adding them in with smaller outfit details like pocket squares, bracelets , sunglasses, and watch straps.

If you’re more advanced and experimental, throw in a vibrant, stand-out piece, like a sport coat or colorful chinos .

The best fabrics for summer clothes

For men’s clothes for hot, humid weather, summer-weight or lightweight wool, linen, and cotton will be your best friends. Loosely-woven fabrics such as these will keep the air flowing freely while still looking sharp.

In case you’re worried about linen and wrinkling… yes, linen tends to wrinkle, but that’s OK. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Embrace the wrinkles!

Plus, when you’re in hot, humid weather, the fabric will relax and some of the wrinkles will fall off anyway. But for summer styles, men don’t need to stress. It’s natural to experience wrinkles with this fabric, so it’s not a big issue.

How summer clothes should fit

loose summer layers mens grey t-shirt and off-white wrap waistband cream mens trousers

In general, clothes should fit how they always do, no matter the season. However, for summer styles, men tend to prefer things a bit looser .

Don’t get me wrong, your outfits should still be sharp, and should still have a nice, fitted silhouette… but if you want to go a tad bit looser, do it. More room between your skin and the fabric will allow for more air to circulate, which will keep you cooler, longer.

Outfit Specifics: “What clothes should I add to my closet?”

Before recommending specific summer clothes  or capsule wardrobes for you, first decide how you need to dress.

Do you need to dress more formally (maybe you have an office job that requires you to suit up) or casually (every other situation, from running errands around town to getting drinks and dinner with your Sig O)?

Formal and Business: How to wear a suit and tie in hot weather

If you’re required to wear a suit to work, you will get hot. Hopefully the AC doesn’t break down on your way to the office so you don’t cross the Sweat Threshold (my term for when you start sweating, and once reaching that point, you can’t stop).

I don’t think there’s a way around it, but there are ways to minimize how hot you get in your suit and tie. You’ll have to pay attention to the cloth and the color .

“What kind of fabric should my summer suit be made from?”

suits can be made from a number of different cloths. To keep it simple, for a men’s summer style suit, you want to find something in a lightweight wool, cotton, linen, or a blend of those three .

Ideally, your suit will be partially lined and unstructured . Suit jackets can come unlined, half lined (front panel, shoulders, and sleeves), or quarter lined (sleeves and shoulders, or sleeves only).

Why this matters: Having a partially-lined jacket means there’s one less layer trapping the heat in , and less sweating for you.

If you head to SuitSupply (or any shop that knows suits ) right now and ask to see their summer-weight suits , they will know what you’re talking about. Generally, the suits are lighter, both in weight and in color, and the weaves of summer-specific fabrics are more open.

Why this matters:  They breathe better, more air gets through, and you stay cooler.

“Are some colors better than others for summer suits ?”

As far as specific fabric color, if appropriate for the event or the venue, I’d go with a light to medium grey suit, tan, cream, or brighter blues. Again, it’s going to depend on where you’re headed, as far as what’s appropriate, so you’ll have to make a judgment call there.

Your classic charcoal and navy could also work, but I tend to get hotter in darker colors and I imagine most others feel the same way. Then again, they’re classics for a reason, and you can’t go wrong with muted, somber colors such as these. If you stick with lighter-weight fabrics like I discussed in the previous section, you should be okay, temperature-wise.

“What about shirts , ties, and shoes?”

Same goes for your shirts . There are plenty of dress shirt fabric options, but find one made from a lightweight, open weave cloth. The most common and easiest ones to find will probably be lightweight oxford and linen cotton blend shirts .

Shirt colors: The staple white and light blue, of course. You can also go with a subtle stripe in blue / white or grey / white if you’re aiming for maximum versatility. As far as stripe width, I personally prefer the candy and awning stripe widths , though it’s up to you. You can also go with more vibrant colors, which work great against a neutral grey, navy, or tan.

For ties , what’s most important is to keep it seasonally consistent. So no thick wool ties. Go with something lighter weight in wool, cotton, and silk. Knits are also a good option for men’s summer style dress clothing.

As far as shoes for business or formal wear , stick to an oxford in brown or black. If you have a bit of leeway, you can go with a tassel loafer.

sharp Summer Fashion: How Men Should Dress for hot, humid weather

Smart, sharp casual describes outfits you’d wear in everyday life situations that aren’t any of the two extremes:

  • Formal: black tie, white tie, or business environments
  • Casual or Activity-specific: lounging at home, performing manual labor, or participating in a physical activity (sports, the gym)

So if you’re not sitting on the couch, mowing the lawn, or doing 5 sets of 5 in the squat rack, you would be dressing smart sharp casual or business casual for more professional settings.

A bare-bones,  capsule wardrobe for summer

If you’re looking to buy clothes and want a smart, sharp casual men’s summer style, look no further! Here are some suggestions below.

shorts - the best shorts for men

3 pairs of shorts, either in linen (or linen blend) or cotton chino. Best colors would be a lighter blue, darker blue, and one in a brighter color, like this faded red. Standard khaki-colored chino shorts are also great to own, of course.

Shop here: Todd Snyder , Bonobos , J.Crew

chinos - the best mens chinos

2-3 pairs of chinos. These look sharp and are much better in warm weather than heavy denim. You can’t go wrong with navy, medium grey, khaki, and one fun color like faded red or mint green.

Shop here: Alex Mill , Todd Snyder , Bonobos

shirts - best lightweight mens shirts for summer

2-4 shirts . I love linen shirts in the summer. I also wear a lot of OCBDs (year round, really) in white and light blue, or a light stripe (grey and white, blue and white).

Shop Here: Todd Snyder , Uniqlo , J.Crew

4. Short Sleeve Shirts

the best short sleeve shirts for men - effortless gent

2-4 short sleeve shirts: I’d go with linen, cotton, or a blend, in either short-sleeve button-ups or polos. For polos, slub cotton is my favorite (which is what you see above), but basic pique works too. Can’t go wrong with a white, navy, or gray, and two others in fun color and pattern combinations.

Remember, with a lean wardrobe , having one stand-out piece is easy to incorporate because it will go well with all your other neutral colors.

Shop Here: Todd Snyder polos , Bonobos shirts , Banana Republic polos , J.Crew short sleeve shirts

the best mens shoes for summer

3 pairs of shoes: One white leather sneaker, a tan or brown driving shoe, a grey or tan loafer.

Shop here: GREATS white sneakers , M.Gemi drivers, Allen Edmonds loafers

6. Sportcoat

the best summer sportcoats

These are three examples of super versatile sport coats: one in a medium grey, one in a brighter blue, and lastly, one in a brown check.

Ideally, you’d have all three, but depending on your specific men’s summer style, you may not need all three (or maybe you need more , who knows). The best sport coats for summer are linen or a linen blend, usually with cotton, wool, or silk. They’re also half-lined, unstructured, 2-button single-breasted, and double-vented. Double vents are my preference, though it’s not imperative yours be double-vented.

If you have your classics covered, don’t be afraid to experiment with pattern and texture, even if it’s subtle.

By the way, these jackets are from SuitSupply. Check out the cloth close up in the image below:

lightweight mens sport coat fabrics

If you wanted to go the Made-to-Measure or Custom route, check out SuitSupply’s MTM program . I wrote an extensive article on my experience if you’re curious.

Shop here: SuitSupply , Spier & Mackay

best no-show socks for men

In the summer, I go with no-show socks or shoe inserts. The ones you see above are my favorites.

Shop here: Zederna cedar inserts, HappyStep inserts, Uniqlo no-show socks

8. Undershirts

best mens undershirts for summer

I like my undershirts to be invisible; I don’t even want to know I’m wearing one.

I look for shirts  made from a thin cotton or cotton blend (sometimes synthetic too, i.e. the shirt on the right), in light grey, with a V-neck. This is the style you want to wear underneath light-colored and lightweight shirts ; they won’t show through like white undershirts tend to do.

These are my two favorites.

Shop Here: RibbedTee Retro Fit Tri-Blend , Uniqlo’s Airism line

9. Sunglasses

best mens sunglasses

OK we’re starting to get into men’s summer accessories . This is the important extra 10%! If you already have a standard pair of black or brown tortoise shell frame sunglasses, go with something fun and colorful for summer.

Shop Here: Chimi Eyewear , Ray-Ban Clubmaster with Reflective Lenses

mens summer hats and fedoras

In the summer, I usually travel with a straw fedora. They look great, provide sun protection, and best of all, are packable… assuming you buy the right ones.

Not feeling a straw hat? A standard dad cap always works, especially on your most laid-back, casual days. My favorite cap is from Ralph Lauren ‘s Polo Sport line I picked up in 1996. True vintage, baby. Another favorite is my (now sold out, but there are other options) khaki colored Aimé Leon Dore NY cap . I wear these two all the time.

Shop Here: Goorin Bros. packable fedoras

the best mens belts for summer

A dark brown leather belt is always good to have; it will match all your shoe options. Sometimes, though, you want something a little more fun, especially in the summer when you want to wear more color.

So, something like these braided, webbed belts are the perfect men’s summer style.

Shop Here: Todd Snyder , Anson

12. NATO straps

colorful nato watch straps for men

You can usually swap out the factory band on your watch and replace it with a colorful NATO strap. It’s an easy way to add a bit more color to your outfit without going full pink seersucker or something equally in-yo-face.

Shop Here: My go-to is Barton Watch Bands . BluShark and ClockworkSynergy are other potential choices on Amazon.

Putting together your summer outfits

I think the best advice I can give for putting together great summer outfits every day can be summed up in three words:  Don’t Be Scared .

Every question I receive from guys about how to put together outfits always sound so anxious and apprehensive, like if they wear the “wrong” combination, they’re going to set off a bomb or something equally terrible will happen.

The most common questions are usually something like, “How do I wear X with Y?” and “Does A go with Z?”

  • The answer to #1 is: Put on X first, then put on Y.
  • The answer to #2 is YES

You simply can’t go wrong with a wardrobe full of neutrals, and 1-2 pops of bright, vibrant color… nor can you go wrong with an outfit of solid colors, and 1-2 patterns.

I don’t mean to sound harsh, but look, you’re supposed to have fun with dressing well . If you put together a less-than-ideal look, and you don’t realize it until later, who cares? It’s just clothing . Put stuff on, have fun with your men’s summer fashion, go on with your day.

And by the way, YES, you can wear a long-sleeve linen or OCBD with shorts. Just roll up your sleeves if you’re hot. Don’t be so buttoned up, it’s summer, for god’s sake.

Men’s summer Fashion: Outfit examples

Anyway, because I love you, here are a few outfits I threw together from the pieces I suggested for your summer capsule wardrobe in the previous section.

Outfit 1: Laid-Back Dressed Up

laid back dressed up mens outfit

This is a good example of a laid-back version of “dressed up”. The khaki chinos and light blue linen shirt are an easy pair, and with the brown drivers, is a great outfit on its own. The multi-colored brown webbed belt is a subtle color addition, along with the shades.

If you’re headed to a nice venue (dinner at a classy restaurant, drinks at a fancy bar), throw on your blue sport coat, and you’re all set.

Outfit 2: Poolside Happy Hour

poolside outfit sharp summer clothes with light green pants white shirt loafers sunglasses and fedora

This outfit reminds me of a night out in Miami; it’s something I’d wear if I’m going out to grab happy hour drinks and bites at Cecconi’s (best HH in Miami Beach).

Notice how the chinos are the only bright pop of color (not including the shades, but that’s OK); everything else is subtle and neutral.

Outfit 3: Sharp in Shorts

summer outfit with shorts linen shirt sneakers and panama hat

Shorts can be sharp! Find a dark pair in linen or cotton, pair it with a white linen shirt , clean white sneakers, and a tan fedora. Sunglasses optional (but it’s summer, so you probably are carrying them around everyday regardless).

Outfit 4: Understated and No-Nonsense

simple mens outfit with dark blue pants and grey polo loafers sunglasses and colorful belt

If you’re a fan of understated, no-nonsense looks, this outfit is for you. Dusty navy chinos, a grey slub cotton polo, and tan loafers . Super easy, you look sharp, and you still have a bit of color in that outfit with the awesome belt and shades.

Outfit 5: Al Fresco Dinner

dressy summer outfit for men with light green chinos white shirt and tan sport coat with brown loafers belt and sunglasses

I wanted to throw this example in to show you how to dress up colorful chinos. Essentially, you treat them as if they were your standard khaki or navy, but the key is to make sure everything else is subtle and neutral. I’m a fan of fun shades, so if that’s another pop of color you happen to be wearing, that’s totally fine.

Men’s Summer Fashion = Easy, Breezy, Sharp

If you’ve made it this far, you’re ready to kill it with your summer style.

Now you have a good idea of what fabrics and colors to choose, and how your clothes should fit when it’s warm out. You also have a solid list of clothing recommendations and ideas for how to put them together into different outfits.

Dressing well isn’t tough, regardless of the season. You just have to be strategic with what you wear and the cloth you choose, so you can look great while still remaining as cool as a cucumber.

Hope this helps! Anything else I can answer? DM me on Instagram.

What’s changed?

What To Wear In Greece? 20 Outfit Ideas for Men

Greece Travel Outfits for Men: Travel is supposed to be fun. Don’t let it be ruined by the stress of packing and planning your outfits. Luckily, we are here to guide you to make the most out of your trip to the Mediterranean.

Aside from being rich in history, legend has it that Greek islands are known for having delicious food and warm-welcoming locals.

What to Wear in Greece?

Let’s start with all the packing tips and essentials you need for this trip:

greece travel outfits for men

Travel Essentials

  • Scarf . This is a must, especially when you can expect that it will be cold in there. And a lightweight scarf can also help keep you warm in an air-conditioned plane.
  • Sunglasses . For people visiting Greece, chances are they want to witness the beautiful and famous sunset in Santorini. And why not pack some dope sunglasses while waiting for that moment. Also, it’s vital to protect your face and eyes from direct sunlight.
  • Hat . You deserve extra protection for your precious skin, and sunglasses can’t do all the work. That said, a nice brim or sun hat would make a worthy addition to the party.
  • Umbrella . Pack a handy or foldable umbrella for rainy days and Mondays (but mostly winter and fall). You don’t want to ruin your getup by getting soaked with rainwater.
  • Beach Tote. This would serve as your bearer of small yet essential items like books, gadgets, e.g., speakers, snacks, and toiletries. And a tip: order your sunscreen online beforehand. Most islands in Greece have limited stocks, so they charge higher than you expect.

Tips When Traveling

  • In Summer. Before planning your trip and booking your ticket, be aware of the weather you’ll be walking into. Greece can be really hot. And with hot, I mean the temperature can literally burn your skin. So you might want to pack lightweight clothes.
  • In Winter. And just like any other country, Greece is not always hot. And it can get freezing at times. On that note, please know that you can always get away with sweaters, jackets, and knitwear.
  • Footwear Choice. Greece is known for many things, and roads with cobblestones are one of them. That said, steer clear of heels and anything that would make your stroll less enjoyable. Flip-flops are also a worthy investment, especially for your beach rendezvous.
  • Dress accordingly. The wisest move is to base your outfit on what type of activities you’re having there. For instance, some monasteries in Greece are located on cliffs. And they have a strict dress code. As such, men should wear trousers – choose from chinos or slacks. Ditch the jeans in the meantime. And save them for more casual settings.

What To Avoid

  • Heavy clothes. Aside from they’re a hassle to pack. They would keep you from enjoying your trip. Imagine carrying a suitcase or a travel bag with such items in it. The same goes for your travel essentials like photo gear, toiletries, and whatnot. Stick to lighter items as much as possible. Heavy luggage can be a cause of “epic fail” travel moments.
  • Expensive jewelry. Leave that bling at home. This is not the time to show off. And remember that crowded places are filled with petty thieves and pickpocketers. And you don’t want to be the apple of their eyes.
  • Any clothing that says you’re a tourist. It’s not a good idea to wear “I Love Singapore” or “I Love Broadway” tees when visiting a foreign place. Not only does it look cliche, but they are also a magnet for robbers and other M.O

Wear a pullover shirt and layer it over a collared shirt. Consider the color combo like how Noah Schnapp of Stranger Things does it. If unsure, stick to solid hues for the top layer and settle with white for the undershirt. Make sure that the collars are not limp so they would pop out. Pair them with chinos and some white sneakers to finish off the look.

↓ 19 – Shorts

There’s no doubt that shorts are pretty convenient for Greek travel. But always consider the location and type of activity you’re doing. For one, shorts are a terrible choice when colder areas of Greece are on your “Go-To checklist.” Stylist Dan May said that shorts that touch the bottom of the thigh are ideal. Cuffing the bottom gives off the illusion of shortness without exposing too much skin. Here are some more of our favorite Men’s Outfits with Shorts .

What Should Men Wear In Greece 17

↓ 18 – Casual

This could be the simplest fit you could ever come up with: a combo of a T-shirt and white chinos. This proves that you don’t need to be fancy when going on a vacation. You can look good even with just a few pieces. But of course, this does not mean you go out there looking like you’re not doing the European game very well. Consider these factors: fit, weather, and comfort.

What Should Men Wear In Greece 15

↓ 17 – Sandals On Beach

Your Greece trip wouldn’t be complete without getting your feet dirty. And by that, I mean going to the beach and leaving footprints on the sand. In any event, sandals are more comfortable than any other footwear. If you have flip-flops, that’s better!

What Should Men Wear In Greece 19

↓ 16 – Linen Shirts

Linen is somehow associated with Greeks as they wore the fabric back in the ancient days, a few millennia ago. Stick to solid colors like black, white, and grey. V-neck will up your ante, so go for it if you’re game!

What Should Men Wear In Greece 14

↓ 15 – Activewear and Athleisure

This is an excellent option for your adventures. And if you pack these, then chances are you have “hiking” and rock climbing” on your to-do list. The rule of thumb here is to choose lightweight garments for added comfort and flexibility, and these things will be in your favor when you need them most.

What Should Men Wear In Greece 13

↓ 14 – Crisp White Shirt

In any event, a white shirt is your go-to. I mean, this color never goes out of style. Not only does it fit many occasions, but its versatility will not let you down – whatever the season you decide to go on a trip. Pair it with jeans or chinos, preferably in a contrasting color, too. In summer and spring, try not to layer it with anything as it can do well on its own. Here are some more Men’s White Shirt Outfits that you can take inspiration from.

Polo shirts are a step ahead of your daily tees. Their iconic collars make them appear a bit more formal than your everyday T-shirts, tank tops, and whatnot. A common style tip for men: tuck it into your chinos or jeans for a fashion jump-start. Here are some more Men’s Polo Shirt Outfits that you can try.

↓ 11 -For Mature Men

Stick to solid hues and contrast colors like black, grey, and darker shades of blue. I’m not going to sugarcoat it, but flashy and bright colors are a faux pas for older men. Others may say otherwise, but I think it depends on how you do it. Better safe than sorry – so follow my advice, gents!

↓ 10 – For Short Guys

Striped shirts are a worthy addition to every man’s wardrobe, so make sure to have them at your disposal. For short gents, vertical stripes are your best bet. As we know it, they create the illusion to make you appear taller. Some shorts would also add up to the effect. If you are a skinny guy, go for slim-fitted shorts as they would best compliment you.

↓ 9 – Spring Outfit

This is the season when you can expect frequent rainstorms. In March and April, you need to pack proper gear like a rain jacket and a windproof umbrella. On the other hand, sunny days require you to wear lightweight clothes and bring your sunhat. As for shorts, stay away from baggy styles, as they will make your torso and legs appear asymmetrical. Shorts should go straight down without having excess material around the edges.

↓ 8 – Summer Outfit

This is the time when you can expect a high volume of tourists visiting Greece. In May, June, July, and August, the place experiences the most stable weather of the year. Be careful as the heat can be very harmful, especially to those with health conditions.

You made the right choice for those going to Greece sometime in September, October, and the first half of November! This is the perfect time to visit the place. Unlike summer, tourist crowds are not that heavy at this time of the year. Plus, you can enjoy the foliage and dazzling mountain views. Make sure to dress in layers, and a scarf or shawl is essential as well.

↓ 6 – Winter Outfit

The seasons in Greece are like what you experience in all of Europe. The place has a different kind of breeze in colder months, and you have to get along with it. Sometime in the second part of November, December, January, and February, wear layered outfits that can easily be removed whenever the need arises.

↓ 5 – Rainy Day Outfit

They say that it can rain in any part of Greece. Regardless of your destination in the country, expect drizzle or rain showers, which can both be a good and a bad thing. And just in case things go sideways, it’s better to come prepared than be sorry. Pack your best wet day outfits, including your wellies, boots, and raincoat.

↓ 4 – Beach Outfit

In any event, men would likely go topless on the beach. That said, you’ll only need to focus on getting the right pair of shorts. This is your time to be creative, as you can choose trendy and flashy designs. But it’s also not a bad idea to pack some beach shirts like those with Hawaiian or tropical prints.

↓ 3 – Monochrome Outfit

Mind that monochrome doesn’t mean you have to go full-on white or all-out black. In most cases, you can grab those pieces in neutral or contrast colors – namely black, white, and grey. In some instances, navy blue would also fit in. Combine them, and you are in for a simple yet dashing look. If you have what it takes to pull on this style, then go for it! Consider your skin undertone when choosing colors.

Shorts are usually every man’s first choice for this kind of gig, but some lightweight minimalist pants won’t hurt you.

Travel + Leisure / Kristin Kempa

You may have a designated travel sweatshirt or a favorite pair of shoes to wear on flights — but what about other essentials, like pants, jackets, T-shirts, dresses, and pajamas? If you prioritize comfort in transit, it’s time to revamp your travel wardrobe to ensure every trip is a cozy one. Lucky for you, we editors at Travel + Leisure rounded up a few of our favorite comfy clothing items we always wear on the road and in the sky.

From impossibly soft lounge sets to what we believe are the world’s comfiest jeans, we've combed our closets for those few items we tend to wear every time we travel. Our list includes favorites from Lululemon, Patagonia, Lilly Pulitzer, and more, so whether you prefer to travel in loose-fitting loungewear or more compressive clothing, you’re sure to find something you love below.

lululemon Define Jacket Luon

We’ve all been on a flight that’s chilly enough for some extra layers but too warm for a heavy coat or sweatshirt. That’s why we always pack this comfy, light jacket in our carry-on. Not only is it incredibly sleek and stylish thanks to its slim fit, but it’s also super soft, stretchy, breathable, and easy to move in. The sleeves even feature thumbholes and “cuffins” (cuffs that can be folded over your hands) for added warmth. Snag the Define Jacket Luon in eight sizes and five shades including espresso and bone.

“This jacket is essentially my plane uniform — I wear it every single time I fly,” editor Sophie Mendel said. “It's comfy but keeps me looking put-together, plus I can wear it with leggings and sneakers for a super functional, comfortable, and cute transit 'fit. It also has two zippered pockets which are extra-convenient during travel.”

Calia Women's Inspire High Rise 7/8 Legging

Flying in compression leggings is wise, especially for long-haul flights, but some compression leggings tend to squeeze you uncomfortably. That’s never a problem with Calia’s Inspire High Rise 7/8 leggings, though. Boasting subtle compression that molds to your body, the leggings are sure to remain comfy and breathable without sliding down or sagging. They even have unique seam lines that strategically accentuate your curves — though, admittedly,  this is more noticeable in some colors than others. To top it off, we love the way they feel to the touch.

“These Calia leggings are without a doubt the softest pair I own,” associate editor Hillary Maglin said. “I've worn them for everything from yoga classes to grocery runs to a recent 12-hour travel day, and I've remained comfy through it all. The leggings are thick without hindering mobility, and they're compressive without digging into my stomach (something I can't stand). It also doesn't hurt that they have subtle side pockets large enough for my phone. Though I have plenty of black leggings in my wardrobe, I find myself reaching for these ones again and again.”

Commes Des Garçons Play x Converse Chuck Taylor Hidden Heart Low Top Sneakers

It's true: Converse never goes out of style. Conveniently, the sleek sneakers tend to last forever, too, so consider copping a pair of the Converse x Comme des Garçons Play Chuck 70s. They feature the typical silhouette of the brand’s low tops, plus they come in white or black. No matter which color you choose, this particular style also boasts the Comme des Garçons red heart and eyes logo on the side. You can snag these in women’s sizes 5 to 15 and men’s sizes 3 to 13.

“This is my go-to travel shoe because it's comfortable but also dressy enough that I can wear it throughout my trip when I want an elevated sneaker look,” travel editor Susmita Baral said.

Paka Men's Apu Lightweight Puffer

One of our most important tips for traveling in comfort? Dress to avoid freezing or overheating. With this lightweight men’s puffer from Paka, regulating your body temperature is easy. It’s so slim that it looks more like a zip-up hoodie than a puffer, but its hidden layers and insulation efficiently lock in warmth. Even if you choose not to wear it in transit, you can effortlessly pack it down into a bag or suitcase.

“This puffer jacket has the warmth of a parka but not the bulkiness, which makes it the perfect outerwear to bring while traveling,” writer Anna Popp said. “It can fit in a suitcase easily and it's also perfectly cozy and warm to wear on an airplane if you need to save extra space. I love that it looks nice while going out in the city on a snowy day, but that it’s also designed to be worn for sportier occasions like skiing, hiking, climbing, or running.”

J. McLaughlin Lowden Jeans

Nobody expects there to be comfortable jeans for travel . We thought so, too, until we got our hands on J.McLaughlin’s Lowden jeans. The stretchy cotton denim feels more like a soft pair of leggings, and even after long-haul flights, we never felt restricted or uncomfortable in them. The jeans feature a wide-leg slim fit for added mobility and a high waist for comfort and confidence on and off the plane.

“I never thought I would be a jeans person for airplanes but after wearing these on a cross-country flight, I'm a big fan now,” said Popp. “These jeans are super stretchy and roomy, so if (and when) I get bloated while traveling, the high-waist fabric doesn't dig into my stomach or cause me any discomfort. They also look super cute and stylish and can be styled with many different outfits, so I’ve officially added these jeans to my travel wardrobe for every trip.”

Patagonia Women's Nano Puff Jacket

We’re adamant that Patagonia’s Nano Puff is the jacket every traveling woman needs in her wardrobe. It’s lightweight, packable, durable, stylish, warm, windproof, water-resistant — need we go on? Some of our favorite extras are a drawstring hemline to seal in heat and hidden internal pockets. On top of all its functional features, it also comes in sizes ranging from XXS to XXL and 11 colors including buckhorn green, chilled blue, and sandy melon.

“When it comes to packable jackets for women, this one from Patagonia is the best option for virtually any trip,” Popp said. “The design is simple but very functional, and I love being able to wear it for any season. In the winter, it's thin enough to layer for more warmth, but I can wear it as-is during summer camping trips. My outdoor-adventuring family all own Nano puff jackets and they still look as good as new, so I love that they’re built to last – possibly forever – in my opinion.”

Rag & Bone Miramar Jogger

These joggers are so stylish, you’d never guess they’re also comfy as can be. Don’t let their denim appearance fool you — they’re actually made of soft cotton terry that provides stellar mobility and comfort. Over the legging look for travel? Throw these on instead, and pair them with a pair of boots or walking shoes, a bodysuit , and a moto jacket for an effortlessly cool look you don’t even have to change out of once you reach your destination.

“These Rag & Bone joggers are simply the best for travel,” editor-in-chief Jacqui Gifford said. “I call them ‘faux’ jeans; the fabric looks like it’s a regular old pair of denim, but surprise — they have the softness and ease of a pair of sweats. Ideal for a plane ride or even a long day out on a tour, these are the ultimate pants that blend function, form, and style.”

Forme Power Bra

In need of a comfy new bra to keep everything in place on your next journey? Our editors (and a certain blonde popstar) are all about the Forme Power Bra. It’s comfy, cute, compressive, and most impressively, designed to zap bad posture. The wide straps take pressure off your shoulders and back, while the comfortable fit promotes proper body alignment, quick recovery, and overall health. We even love all seven colors it comes in — especially rosé and ecru.

"As a bra-needer and someone who really shouldn't be traveling without one, I absolutely hate wearing something bulky while I fly,” associate photo editor Alessandra Amodio said. “My go-to is the Forme Power Bra. Not only is it incredibly comfortable and made of high-quality material, but it’s actually FDA-registered to correct posture and improve your body alignment. Now I fly comfortably and my neck, shoulders and back feel so much better. I just throw on a cute open button down, pair it with the Ergo Shorts or Sculpt+ Leggings , and look chic and put-together while traveling. (This is also what Taylor Swift wore in her Eras Tour rehearsals according to a photo from her Time Person of the Year profile — if it's good enough for Taylor, it's good enough for me.)”

Circus by Sam Edelman Zuri Strap Ballet Flat

We love that ballet flats are back — and this strappy style demands to be worn. The low heel and soft interior make them a great, pain-free option for travel while cross straps, buckles, and tiny beaded bows keep things stylish. They come in 11 sizes including half sizes, and 15 unique colors and prints. We recommend the shades dark French macaroon, light wash, and the leopard-printed beige brown.

“Even though you’d think flats would always be a comfortable shoe option, it’s actually surprisingly difficult to find flats that don’t dig into your feet or make your toes all sweaty,” testing editor Jackie Cucco said. “I’ve tried so many pairs that seem comfortable at first, but end up being too rigid and irritating by the end of the day. This is the first pair I’ve found that is soft enough to wear all day long, either with or without socks or tights. They feel like slippers, and they come in more than a dozen colors to match any vibe.”

Black Diamond Notion Pants

Whether you’re headed to the airport, the trails, or even the gym, the Black Diamond men’s Notion Pants are your best bet for comfort and mobility. Designed with an elastic waist, a drawstring cord, and a loose fit, these pants feel almost like wearing your favorite pair of sweatpants. However, their slim appearance complete with two hand pockets and two rear pockets make them dapper enough to wear to dinner, a show, or even the office. Grab them in a neutral hue like ash or tundra, or opt for a more eye-catching shade like raging sea or burnt Sienna.

“You don't have to be an Alex Honnold–level rock climber to love these super-soft pants,” news director Paul Brady said. “They're comfortable enough for long-haul flights, even in coach, but they've still got a crisp silhouette to keep you looking put-together.”

Lilly Pulitzer Seaview Top & Deri Palazzo Pant Linen Set

You can’t go wrong with Lilly Pulitzer, especially when it comes to jetsetting. This breathable, lightweight linen set from the brand is just as soft and cozy as it is cute, so we recommend adding it to your travel wardrobe immediately. The classic, collared button-down is super versatile thanks to cuffable sleeves and a tieable bottom — plus you can turn it into a jacket or cover-up by layering it unbuttoned over literally any other outfit. Snag the ultra-flattering matching pants to complete the look.

“I think the most versatile item to pack on a warm-weather vacay is a white linen button down, and this roomy one from Lilly Pulitzer is good enough to also grab in other colors like spearmint and mulberry,” associate editorial director Morgan Ashley Parker said. “I’ve worn it unbuttoned over a swimsuit and then slipped on matching palazzo pants — with an irresistible elasticized waist — for dinner alfresco. I personally love the all-white combo for warmer climates but the New Yorker in me would also recommend grabbing the coordinating onyx x onyx set if you can catch it in stock.”

Spanx AirEssentials Wide Leg Pant

There are few things softer than Spanx Air Essentials’ Wide Leg Pants. They feel similar to the brand's sleek and smoothing leggings and shapewear, but they have a relaxed fit rather than a super compressive one. While the pants could certainly be worn as loungewear, they’re also fashionable enough to wear to the airport, a coffee shop, or on an errand run. Though they fit and even look a bit like sweatpants, figure-enhancing contouring on the rear differentiates them from your typical comfy clothing.

“It’s impossible to find a better material than Spanx AirEssentials ,” Parker said. “All pieces feel silky to the touch, hefty enough for a chilly plane cabin, and pretty much impossible to wrinkle. I’m super into wide-leg styles — and need this exact petite option for my 5' 3" frame — and these pants are pretty much a given on my long flights nowadays. Personally, I love the olive-y palm color as an alternative to black or navy, so my only real choice is whether to match them with a crew neck or a sleek half zip instead.”

Pitusa Pima Abaya

If your ideal wardrobe staple is a do-it-all piece, look no further than Pitusa’s Pima Abaya. The cozy caftan is perfect for everything from international flights to pool days to bedtime. That’s thanks to impossibly soft cotton construction, oversized sleeves, and an airy, relaxed fit. There are no buttons, snaps, or drawstrings on this piece, so you’ll never have to worry about uncomfortable digging or fussing with it in order for it to fit right. You can customize your fit upon buying, though, and you can even choose from 15 colors.

“I joke about my ideal wardrobe consisting of a caftan in every color and this floor-length maxi fits perfectly into that vibe,” Parker said. “It can serve as a dress, cover-up, nightgown — pretty much anything, all day, every day in a tropical climate. The lightweight pima cotton is incredibly soft, too, and it comes in petite, standard, and tall options to reduce tailoring needs. I like this exact one because it’s not so sheer that I wouldn’t wear it out to dinner or on the plane but if you’re looking for more of a peekaboo style, you can get the same cut in a burnout fabric instead.”

Mar Soreli Ginger Mary Jane

Looking to travel in comfort without sacrificing style? Check out the Ginger Mary Janes by Mar Soreli. Everything from the insole to the strap is ultra-soft and cushioned, plus the buckle and strap are easy to tighten and loosen for a custom fit — or for quickly taking on and off at TSA. They’re even soft to the touch thanks to velvet uppers, and they’re versatile enough to wear with leggings, skirts, dresses, and jeans.

“If you’re someone who wishes slippers were appropriate outdoor shoes, these ballet flats are the next best thing,” Parker said. “The velvet is so cozy but still looks great with anything from plane leggings to a nicer skirt on a night out, with or without socks or tights. And, if you do want to wear them through security (and don’t have TSA PreCheck®), each strap actually has a snap in addition to the buckle adjustment so they’re incredibly quick to slip on and off as needed.”

Allbirds Wool Runners

Allbirds shoes were basically made for travel, and the Men’s Wool Runners are some of our absolute favorites. The inside is actually lined with fine merino wool, making for soft and warm-yet-breathable wear no matter the time of the year. On top of that, the sneakers are equipped with reliable arch support and machine washable fabric. While we wouldn’t recommend them for running, they’re the perfect comfy shoes for pretty much everything else, including walking, hiking, and navigating the airport.

“My husband swears by these comfortable men's walking shoes so much that I ordered a pair of the women's version for myself,” senior editor Kayla Becker said. “And they really deliver. We both love the thick, foamy cushion that keeps our feet supported on long travel days, and they've stood up to everything from 20,000-step jaunts in Iceland to hiking Diamond Head in Hawaii.”

Aday Turn It Up Pants

Tapered trousers are office staples — so if you’re traveling for business, we suggest adding a pair or two of the Aday Turn It Up Pants to your wardrobe. They’re the goes-with-everything piece you’ve been looking for, and their soft, tailored stretch paired with an elastic waistband makes them comfy enough to catch a flight in. The ankle-length pants have a pocket at each hip and are available in a dozen colors.

“As soon as I found these sleek, wrinkle-free travel pants, they became a permanent part of my travel uniform (and I've even written about how all the travel editors I know have them ),” Becker said. “They're not only super comfortable for long-haul flights (I just flew 14 hours in them and felt like I was wearing pajamas), but they also look put-together right off the plane, whether I'm headed to the office or a walking tour. I'd wear them literally anywhere.”

Saucony Endorphin Speed 4

If you’re the type of traveler that likes to workout on the road, Saucony’s Endorphin Speed 4 is the versatile sneaker for you. Not only is it an ideal comfy running shoe, but it’s also lightweight and sleek enough to wear for every other part of your journey, too. Whether you wear it on the plane or to sightsee once you arrive at your destination, you’ll always feel supported in the Speed 4. Choose from five eye-catching colorways and 15 sizes including half-sizes.

“I've been training for the London Marathon, and since I started wearing these sneakers, I haven't had a single ounce of pain in my feet, even on long runs,” senior editorial director Nina Ruggiero said. “They are extremely cushioned yet so lightweight. Even after the race is done, I imagine I might be wearing them on the long flight home to LA.”

Fundamental Coast Shorebreak Hoodie

To make the most of the space in your suitcase, you’ll want to prioritize versatile pieces that can do it all. That’s why we love the Fundamental Coast Shorebreak Hoodie so much. It’s perfect for travel days and morning walks near your hotel, but it’s also elevated enough to wear to a cafe, museum, or shops around town. The pullover hoodie has a front pocket, drawstring hood, and slim fit for a more put-together appearance. Grab it in phantom black or storm, which both have a beachy, heathered texture.

“Fundamental Coast has perfected Southern California athleisure, especially for men, and my fiancé lives in the brand's hoodies, shorts, vests, and polos,” Ruggiero said. “The Shorebreak hoodie is especially soft and sleek and works well whether we're out doing something active or going to brunch at a new spot in our beachy LA neighborhood.”

Vuori Cove Funnel Neck Tank

This high-necked tank top is so stylish, you’d never guess it’s also comfy enough for exercise, stretching out on a plane, or even napping. Crafted with a soft and stretchy rayon-elastane fabric blend, this top never digs into the skin or feels uncomfortably tight around the neck. While it’s not quite cropped, it’s not too long, either, so it’s likely to complement a variety of bodies and ensembles.

“This super-soft rib knit tank is my go-to running top, but the high neck also gives it some style (in addition to protecting my most sensitive areas from the sun),” Ruggiero said. “I have it in multiple colors, and I've definitely worn the black and tan ones out with friends at night, too.”

Vuori Echo Insulated Vest

A reliable vest is essential for travelers — it locks in warmth without causing you to overheat, and it couldn’t be easier to zip on and off. We’re big fans of this one from Vuori for its insulation, water resistance, and easy cleaning. It has zip pockets for your hands or small items, and a subtle collar keeps heat from escaping while allowing your neck total range of motion, irritation-free. To top it off, the vest comes in two stylish shades.

“This lightweight but warm insulated vest has quickly become one of my fiancé's favorite items of clothing,” Ruggiero said. “He wears it on dog walks, weekends, and travel days — it even has pockets.”

Reef Men's Swellsole Cutback Sneaker

It’s no secret that Reef is one of the most trusted rugged shoe brands around, so when it released boat shoes, we were intrigued. It turns out Reef’s boat shoes are just as comfy and long-lasting as the sandals we know and love. The men’s Swellsole Cutback Sneakers are the perfect fusion of classic boat shoes and cushioned sneakers, and they’re perfect for beachy vacations. Wear them from the dock straight to dinner — then keep them on for a busy night of exploring the boardwalk.

“I always thought of Reef for flip-flops, but since my fiancé found their hybrid boat shoes/sneakers, he's bought them in at least three colors,” Ruggiero said. “They're supportive thanks to memory foam, and can be dressed up or down.”

Public Rec All Day Pants

Odds are, you’ve seen these popular pants everywhere from the office to the coffee shop to the airport. That’s because their straight-leg fit and stretchy nylon-spandex fabric move with you rather than tightly confining your waist and legs like other styles. But don’t let their uber-soft texture fool you — these pants are still equipped with two front pockets, two faux back pockets, belt loops, and a zipper fly, so you’ll look and feel just as sophisticated as you are comfortable when you wear these.

“The slacks feel almost like loungewear thanks to their soft nylon-spandex blend,” editor Taylor Fox said. “They're the perfect balance of comfort and style for long flights where you don't want to feel cramped into tight pants, but want to still look put-together when you land. They can also be dressed up or dressed down for added versatility no matter what you have on the agenda.”

ManMade Boxers and T-shirt Bundle

One can never have too many basics, and we love this three-piece pack from ManMade. Each set comes with two pairs of black boxer briefs and one white T-shirt. Made of high-quality modal, spandex, and Pima cotton, the briefs and tee are guaranteed to remain soft, breathable, moisture-wicking, and anti-chafing through everything — even long-haul flights and airport sprints. To ensure your comfort, the bundle comes in six sizes ranging from small to 3XL.

“My husband packs about a dozen pairs of boxers and undershirts for a weeklong trip and his absolute favorites come from ManMade,” Fox said. “They're lightweight and breathable with a buttery soft material that doesn't add a bulky layer under clothing. All of their items contain the perfect amount of stretch as well without allowing the clothing to ride up or bunch in uncomfortable places whether he's hiking, riding his bike, or preparing for a long flight.”

The Mate Organic Waffle Knit Joggers

There’s something so luxurious about a good waffle weave. Designed with a relaxed fit and buttery soft texture, these Organic Waffle Knit Joggers by Mate are no exception. They’re made of 100 percent organic cotton, crafted with elastic at the waist and ankles, and equipped with one pocket on the back right side. The cozy joggers come in four neutral colors (jet black, bone, lilac, and bark) and five sizes. You can also drop the matching Organic Waffle Long Sleeve Shirt in your cart to complete the look.

“If I could replace all of my joggers with these comfortable, waffle-knit pants I would,” writer Ali Domrongchai said. “They have the perfect amount of stretch that lends itself well to long travel days, and thanks to its textured design, they not only feel good, but look good, too. In fact, since I've been wearing these cozy knit joggers, a few of my friends have snagged a pair as well because of how much I rave about them.”

Tips for Buying Comfortable Travel Clothes

Consider the material.

When traveling, it’s important to choose clothing that’s as comfortable and low-maintenance as possible. That said, we recommend clothes made of soft, sweat-wicking, and breathable fabrics such as cotton, polyester, linen, or wool. It’s also wise to opt for wrinkle-resistant materials like nylon and spandex to keep you looking fresh and put-together.

Look for travel features

Though it may feel unnecessary, we guarantee you’ll end up thanking yourself for buying pants, dresses, and bags with lots of extra pockets. Additionally, temperature-regulating clothes can come in pretty handy when you’re on the road — so consider adding clothing with cooling capabilities (or just clothes made of linen, nylon, or polyester) to your travel wardrobe.

The most breathable clothing is made of materials like cotton, linen, nylon, polyester, merino wool, and silk. Though fabrics like spandex, fleece, and denim have plenty of benefits, they’re not quite as breathable.

Generally soft, stretchy, and loose-fitting clothing is best for travel, as it’ll keep you comfy and won’t feel restrictive on long flights or drives. Some people may also opt for compressive clothing, like leggings or compression socks, which helps promote circulation on long travel days. You may also want to choose clothing you know to be breathable so you don’t overheat.

Why Trust Travel + Leisure

For this article, associate commerce editor Hillary Maglin collaborated with other members of the T+L team to conclude which clothing that we’ve personally used is the most comfortable for travel days. Hillary travels by plane and car several times a year and is obsessed with soft and slouchy pieces to keep her comfy on her journeys.

Men's summer outfits - how to dress in hot weather

20 Stylish Summer Outfits For Men: How To Dress For Hot Weather

Summer dressing is more than just T-shirt and shorts. Here's how to up your warm-weather summer outfit style game.

Let’s face it, getting dressed when it’s boiling outside isn’t difficult or complicated. Essentially, you want to wear as little as possible while still keeping your dignity intact, which more often than not means a simple T-shirt and shorts combination. But that can quickly get boring, so how do you go about mixing up those casual summer outfits while keeping cool?

Below we’ve set out some easy ways you can stay looking fresh as the mercury rises, as well as 20 foolproof men’s summer outfit combinations, so if you want to work on your warm-weather style game, you’re in the right place.

How to dress for summer

Consider fabric.

Pay attention to your fabric choice when making summer outfits

Fabric choice is crucial in hot weather; pick the wrong materials and you’ll quickly feel stifled and uncomfortable. The ideal summer outfits for men are breathable, lightweight and often loosely woven, which allows air to easily pass through the fibres to keep you cool. Think linen, cotton jersey, tencel and pique – all fabrics which you’ll often find cut in warm-weather garments such as polo shirts , T-shirts, Cuban collar shirts, shorts and more.

The secondary benefit of utilising these traditional summer fabrics is that each has its own unique texture. Again, when clothing options are limited, mixing fabrics – a pique cotton polo (ribbed, woven texture) with a pair of grey cotton jersey shorts (flatter, mottled texture), for example – is a subtle way to introduce variety into an otherwise simple men’s casual summer outfit .

Experiment with colour

Summer t-shirts for men in a range of vibrant colours

Summer is the perfect time for experimenting with colour in your outfits. In the colder months it’s easy to default to shades of grey, black and navy, but when it comes to warm-weather dressing, you have more leeway with your palette.

It helps that the sun makes everything look better, which means pops of colour – from primary reds and yellows to washed-out pastel shades – suddenly feel appropriate, rather than ‘too much’.

Classy summer dressing is also relatively restrictive in what you can actually wear. The heat means layering is often out of the equation, unless you want to sweat profusely, so the ability to inject a bit of personality into your summer outfit is limited. Colour is the saviour here, ensuring you can add individuality while wearing less.

Pay attention to the details

Accessories make a huge difference in summer

One way to stop your summer outfits becoming monotonous – aside from adding colour – is to bolster your accessory game.

The finer details take on more importance when your look is stripped back, so pay attention to your choice of belt (fabric, colour, style), watch (strap choice, dial colour) and sunglasses (frame shape, lens colour), and consider adding a piece of jewellery (bracelet, ring, simple pendant/chain necklace). You want to introduce points of interest as well as a little personality.

Pay attention to fit

Men's summer clothing should be looser fitting

Orlebar Brown

If you’re a fan of slim fits, you might want to broaden your horizons in the summer. Tailored garments quickly become uncomfortable in the warm months, as the fabric clinging to you can feel restrictive and overbearing.

Relaxed fits are infinitely more comfortable as the fabric sits further away from the body, ensuring you can move freely and air can flow between your skin and the garments, ultimately keeping you cooler.

Don’t mistake ‘relaxed’ with ‘baggy’ though. Oversized isn’t the solution; you still want your clothes to fit. So, instead of slim-fitting T-shirts, for example, try more boxy cuts, and consider opting for straight-legged or pleated shorts over tailored versions.

Another point to bear in mind is comfort on the whole. Seemingly small alterations – like wearing drawstring shorts or trousers ( key men’s fashion trends this year ) in place of fixed waistbands, and picking comfortable sneakers over hard-soled shoes – can make dressing for the heat much more bearable.

20 cool summer 2024 outfits for men

Cuban collars.

How a Cuban Collar shirt should fit

Todd Snyder

The Resort Co Seersucker Resort Shirt Navy

When it comes to stylish men’s summer outfits, the Cuban collar shirt remains one of the most stylish investments you can make. Wear it with shorts, chinos , jeans or, for something smarter, tailored drawstring trousers.

Finish with sneakers or loafers and you’ve got a versatile fit that’ll be comfortable even when the heat becomes stifling.

Keep it classic

Men's knitted polo shirt and tailored shorts summer outfit

You can’t really go wrong with a polo shirt and shorts in the summer. Just make sure you nail the fit of both, and keep the colour palette minimal.

Go for a classic pique cotton shirt, or mix it up with a Riviera-inspired knitted take (especially in merino wool, which is an excellent temperature regulator) to give a slightly dressier feel to this traditionally casual look .

Let it breathe

Men's beach summer outfit - swim shorts, sandals and open linen shirt

Frescobol Carioca

Aurelien White Linen Seaside Shirt

As previously mentioned, fabric choice is the key to summer dressing . Go for heavy materials and you’ll quickly overheat; instead you want to seek out lightweight cotton and linen, which are both breathable and will keep you cool when the mercury rises.

Linen shirts are perfect for wearing with swim shorts in the day – throw it on over the top and finish with leather sandals and classic shades for look that will take you from the pool to an alfresco lunch without needing to change.

Summer tailoring

Men's stone summer suit in stone with tonal suede derby shoes

There are plenty of opportunities for wearing a suit in the summer; namely weddings. For a sharp take on warm-weather occasion dressing, look for a stone coloured suit in an unstructured cut and flattering fit, then team it with suede shoes, a clean white shirt and knitted or silk tie.

Summer separates

Men's long sleeve polo shirt worn with trousers and blazer and loafers

Atelier Munro

Luca Faloni Shirt Navy Blue

For something slightly more creative, separates might be more your thing. Just as smart as a full suit, a mismatched blazer and trousers is more experimental and arguably allows for more of your personality to shine.

Try an off-white pair of tailored trousers with a check blazer, navy shirt and suede loafers, and you’ll be the best dressed guy at the wedding .

Drawstring shorts

Men's summer outfit: drawstrong shorts, long white top and sneakers

Once you try drawstring shorts, it will be difficult to go back to anything else. From a comfort standpoint they’re unbeatable – they feel like pyjama shorts, which is reason enough to give them a go.

They’re readily available in all manner of fabrics and styles, but for high summer we’d recommend a light cotton design with a slight amount of stretch for added comfort.

Combine them with a long sleeve tee and leather sneakers , and reap the rewards.

Tucked in tee

Men's simple summer outfit: t-shirt tucked into trousers with sneakers

Luca Faloni

Luca Faloni T-Shirt

For a smart casual look that won’t have you sweating by midday, try swapping the collared shirt for a T-shirt.

You can still tuck it in for a contemporary take on office wear, but the light fabric and short sleeves ensure a comfortable summer outfit for longer.

Shorts in the office

Men's smart casual summer outfit with linen shirt, tailored shorts and white sneakers

Many offices have relaxed their dress codes so it’s no longer required for staff to turn up looking like Wall Street bankers from the 80s.

In the summer months it’s even acceptable to wear shorts, so take advantage of the fact and combine a drawstring pair with a classic linen-blend shirt. Finish with minimal sneakers and you’ll be smart enough without breaking a sweat.

Summer layering

Men's summer outfit: shorts, oxford shirt and denim trucker jacket

It’s difficult to be creative with summer outfits for guys, given that you’re generally wearing as little as possible to stay cool. For times when you might want to layer up though, keep things light and pay attention to fabric.

Begin with a light cotton tee and linen shorts. Then build on the look with a chambray shirt and, in cooler evenings perhaps, a denim jacket to counteract any wind chill.

Summer knitwear

Men's summer knitwear outfit: shawl collar cardigan and white trousers

Most men wouldn’t consider knitwear in warm weather, given that it is traditionally woven tightly and designed to keep the wearer toasty.

However, certain light-gauge fabrics such as merino wool and linen-silk blends offer breathability on par with cotton, giving you a creative way of introducing some much-needed texture to your stripped-back looks.

When it comes to design, a cardigan is a smart choice as it can be buttoned up or left open, giving you the ability to modify your outfit depending on the weather.

Pastel shades

Men's summer shorts and striped shirt outfit

As highlighted above, summer is the perfect time to introduce colour to your wardrobe. If you don’t want to stray too far out your comfort zone, a great place to start is with pastel tones of blue, green and pale pink.

Here we go for the latter in striped shirt form, combining with stone shorts and suede slip-on sneakers.  This is a laid-back look suitable for casual BBQs, outdoor drinks and weekend getaways alike.

Lightweight jackets

Men's transitional spring style outfit - striped t-shirt, bomber jacket and chinos

Club Monaco

&SONS Breton Striped T Shirt Blue

Summer doesn’t automatically mean no clouds and pelting sun, so for times when the weather is a tad more unpredictable, you need a lightweight jacket.

A Harrington or bomber made from cotton is always a good outfit choice for the summer, and will combine well with tailored trousers, shorts or jeans, making them incredibly versatile.

Tonal shades

Men's summer outfit - textured green polo with green shorts and suede wallabee boots

If you’re at a loss for inspiration, try going with a single shade and running with it. Navy is an obvious choice but for something more fun, try an all-green look, consisting of a knitted polo shirt and tailored shorts.

Finish with a contrast down below, in the form of brown suede derbies, which will keep the fit from looking too matchy-matchy.

Simplicity never fails

Men's t-shirt and pale jeans summer outfit

The simple looks are often the best. This is never more true than when it comes to summer dressing for men. Blue jeans and a T-shirt is about as classic as it gets and can work just as effectively in the warmer months.

Mix things up subtly with a textured light brown tee and complement it with matching suede loafers, which tie the top and bottom half together perfectly.

Summer stripes

Men's summer breton top and relaxed leg chinos with white sneakers and baseball cap outfit

Few tops scream summer quite as much as the Breton. A classic design originally used by French sailors so they’d be easily spotted when overboard, the Breton stripe top is the perfect match for relaxed chinos and canvas sneakers.

Try one with a subtly oversized stripe and tuck it in to smarten the look up, or leave it untucked for a more relaxed take.

Casual elegance

Men's summer outfit with Cuban collar shirt and pleated linen trousers

Thom Sweeney

Brioni Ischia Slim-Fit Pleated Silk, Cashmere and Linen-Blend Suit Trousers

Take inspiration from the mid-century movie stars of yesteryear and smarten up your summer outfit with tailored pleated trousers and a sharp Cuban collar shirt.

Ideal for an evening on the town, this is a sharp take on warm-weather attire that can be further dressed up with an unstructured blazer should the occasion call for it.

White trousers

Dress Italian - Men's white pleated trousers with knitted polo shirt and bomber jacket

Brunello Cucinelli

The Resort Co Knitted Polo Shirt Ivory

Admittedly, white jeans and trousers are difficult to wear . But if you’re going to try them, there’s no better time than summer.

They work well with navy blazers for a tailored look, but can also be dressed down with polo shirts and a lightweight jacket. Go for the latter and finish with a pair of derbies or boat shoes for an alternative take on smart casual summer wear.

Suede jackets

Men's white jeans, brown suede bomber jacket and driving shoes outfit

Tod’s

Billy Reid Pensacola Polo

Despite it being surprisingly hard wearing, suede is not a fabric you want to get wet, meaning it’s often out of the picture for 3-4 months of the year. Summer is its time to shine though, so for milder days or warm evenings it’s ideal as a layering piece that’ll add plenty of character to a look.

Wear one above a simple outfit consisting of a polo shirt and jeans to channel your own bit of 70s Steve McQueen.

Go sockless

Men's summer holiday jean jacket outfit with shorts and knitted top

Summer is really the only season when going sockless is appropriate for men. It’s almost essential when wearing any leather or suede shoes with shorts and will add a relaxed, summery feel to chinos or tailored trousers.

Just remember that ‘sockless’ really means wearing ‘invisible socks’ – your shoes and feet will thank you.

Men's all white summer outfit with shorts, top and sneakers

Rag & Bone

Armor-Lux Long Sleeve Classic Stripe Tee

Again, there’s a strong argument that all-white outfits should only be worn in summer. It can be quite a harsh look, so try breaking it up slightly with a Breton stripe T-shirt, which softens the overall fit and keeps it from being too stark.

Alternatively, go for off-white tones, which help to dial down the brightness and combine well with other neutrals like stone, beige and sand.

Best Travel Clothes For Europe In Summer

by Melissa Giroux | Last updated Aug 1, 2023 | Europe , Travel Gear , Travel Tips

Europe is undoubtedly at its best in the summer. During this season, the tourist resorts are in full swing, the skies are blue, and the ocean is swimmable.

Every European city looks extra magical with the sun glistening down, and the locals are happy and smiling.

Ready To Travel? Don't Go Without Travel Insurance.

Check Prices

Therefore, it’s no surprise that Americans and Canadians flock to Europe in the summer with an epic travel itinerary in hand. Still, as the climate differs throughout the continent, it can be confusing to know what to pack.

So if you’re about to jet off for a summer adventure, read on to learn what travel clothes for Europe in summer you will need.

The temperature and weather in Europe during summer vary from country to country.

For example, Mediterranean countries like Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Greece enjoy splendid weather with highs of 30 degrees celsius and abundant sunshine.

Northern European countries like Sweden enjoy pleasant weather, but it is much cooler, around 20 degrees.

What’s more, summer weather in these countries can be more unpredictable, with a mix of hot days and cold, rainy days.

Therefore, where you plan to visit will determine the travel clothes for Europe in summer you will need. Moreover, summer outfits will be different in a city than in a beach town.

Even so, here is a general idea of the items of clothing you’ll need to pack for your European summer vacation.

Couple traveling in Europe in summer

T-Shirts & Vest Tops

In most European countries, summer equals t-shirt weather, so one item of clothing you will need plenty of is short sleeve tops.

Avoid dark colors like black as they absorb the sun and make you feel hot.

What’s more, steer clear of thick fabric and synthetic materials like nylon and polyester as they trap heat and sweat against the skin rather than release it.

The best fabric for summer tops is cotton, thanks to its high breathability. Thus, pack plenty of light-colored t-shirts and vest/tank tops.

Shirts & Blouses

Casual cotton or linen shirts and blouses are ideal when you want something more formal.

For men, this J EKAOYI White Long Sleeve Shirt is a must. It is made from a cotton/linen blend and has a casual, loose fit, roll-up sleeves, and a turn-down color, making it a versatile clothing item for day and night.

Something like this Davenil Short Sleeve Button-Down Shirt in pink is ideal for women. It is made from 100% soft and light cotton, has a loose-fit design, and the sleeves can be rolled up.

By pairing it with denim shorts, you can go from day to night simply by changing sandals and a day bag to wedges and a clutch bag.

Hoodies & Sweaters

If you’re off to a Mediterranean island like Ibiza or Mallorca, you may get lucky with constant sunshine and warm weather. If this is the case, you might not need additional layers.

However, even for these destinations, you should still pack a couple of hoodies and sweaters just in case.

Opt for a thin, lightweight hoodie rather than a fleece-lined one. The Nayked Apparel Lightweight Hoodie is an ideal choice for men.

It is made from soft and breathable Nayked Combed Ring-Spun Cotton and weighs just 4.9 oz, so it will easily fit in your backpack.

Suppose you’re visiting countries in Northern Europe. In that case, you’ll need to pack a few more mid-layers like these. Include a few thick and warm jumpers in case the weather suddenly turns cold.

For bottoms, it’s best to bring a mix of shorts and long pants, although the exact ratio will depend on where you are heading. Pack at least one pair of denim shorts and a few airy, comfortable shorts.

These SMENG Women’s Casual Cotton Shorts are breathable and comfortable with a drawstring elastic waistband. These cotton cargo shorts from Levi’s are a fab option for men.

Leave your jeans at home and bring long pants made from a breathable fabric like linen.

Many stylish linen trousers are available for women, like the CNJXJCD Wide Leg High Waisted Flowy Pants made from a linen/cotton blend. They have a loose-fitting and are ankle length, allowing optimum airflow.

These Sailwind Drawstring Linen Pants are perfect for men as they feature a relaxed and stretchy fit and are highly versatile.

For women, summer is the season of dresses in Europe; for many countries, it is the only season you can show off your pins. Dresses are suitable for daytime exploring and evenings out, so bring a few for both occasions.

Dresses made from lightweight jersey material are drapey and breathable, ideal for casual day wear.

Spaghetti strap dresses like this one from AlvaQ are also suitable for the daytime as they keep you cool by allowing your armpits to breathe.

For the evening, choose vibrant colors and patterns to stand out like one of these BTFBM Ruffle Belt Sundresses . They feature soft, lightweight, breathable fabric and an elegant Halter neckline.

Young woman in Greece in summer

Include a few different pairs of shoes when packing for Europe in summer. Ideally, you should bring a simple pair of flip-flops like these classic Havaianas for beach and pool days.

You’ll then need a pair of sandals for casual daywear; I recommend opting for comfort over style.

These Cushionaire Luna Sandals have 100% Genuine Suede insoles for ultimate comfort, a flexible cork footbed, and a premium traction design EVA outsole.

You will then need to pack a pair of sneakers or walking shoes. For light everyday walking, these Bruno Marc Men’s Mesh Sneakers are ideal as they are lightweight, breathable, and easy to slip on and off.

Then, if you plan on hiking during your vacation, hiking shoes will be another footwear item to include on your list of what to pack for Europe in summer.

Finally, you’ll want a nice pair of shoes for your evening outfits. Wedges like the Vince Camuto Leera Espadrille Wedge Sandals are the ultimate summer shoe for women.

For men, look for something smart but breathable, like these Bruno Marc Men’s Rivera Oxfords Shoes in black. They have breathable latex insoles that cushion your feet on an air bed.

If you’re traveling to a coastal town in a Mediterranean country, a few sets of swimwear are a must.

For women, the swimwear options are endless and entirely down to personal preference. The Tempt Me Women Two Piece Vintage Swimsuit is an excellent choice as it’s both stylish and flattening.

It features an adjustable self-tie halter neck top with a padded push-up bra for maximum support. Then the high waist bikini bottoms have a pleated front panel to hide imperfections.

This bikini set is ideal for beach days, lounging by the hotel pool, or embarking on some water activities.

For men, these versatile KAILUA SURF Quick Drying 9-Inch Board Shorts make excellent swim shorts, surfing shorts, and casual shorts. They feature an extra soft tripled layer mesh lining with 2 side pockets and 1 back pocket.

Accessories

The number one summer accessory you will need for traveling in Europe during the summer is a good pair of sunglasses.

While there are many fashion sunglasses on the high street, not all of them offer the UV protection you need.

When buying sunglasses, sun protection should take priority over style, though there are plenty of options that have both qualities.

For example, you can’t go wrong with these Ray-Ban Unisex Aviator Sunglasses with polarized lenses to reduce brightness and reflections.

Or, for a more affordable option, check out these KALIYADI Classic Aviator Sunglasses with 100% UV blocking and polarized lenses.

Rain Jacket

Lastly, rain is common all year round in some parts of Europe, such as Britain. So when traveling in the summer, it’s best to always have a thin rain jacket in your bag.

Luckily, you can get packable rain jackets that fold down into the size of a purse like this Avoogue Raincoat that is specially designed for women.

It’s lightweight yet water and windproof and comes with a carry case for easy storage. There are 25 colors to choose from, including solid, two-tone, and camo patterns.

Summer Lookbook: 25 Casual Summer Outfit Ideas

Published on July 8, 2022 by David Komisarchik · Outfit Ideas

How do you dress casually in the summer? It can be a difficult season for men’s casual fashion.

Best casual summer outfit ideas for men

You’ve got fewer layers to work with, and wearing shorts and a plain t-shirt every day can get a little stale.

Without the added benefit of layers that colder months give us, we’re left to make casual basics more exciting. It takes some creativity to stay stylish with casual summer outfits.

In this guide, we’ll give you ideas to do just that.

Casual Summer Style: What You Should Focus On

If you’re like me, the first thing that comes to mind this time of year is how hot it’ll be and how I can avoid sweating through my clothes.

There are a few things for us to consider before we jump into outfit ideas for the summer:

Materials and Fabrics

Keep your fabrics light and breathable. This is key to avoiding embarrassing sweat stains and hot, uncomfortable situations.

Linens and linen blends, seersucker, breathable cotton, tropical wool, and terry cloth are all good options. Stay away from any heavyweight wools or bulky cottons that will trap heat.

Good Quality Basics

Casual summer clothes mainly consist of staple pieces like tees, button-downs, shorts, and light pants.

Since you shed layers as the mercury rises, viable options from your wardrobe get reduced to bare bones. It’s important that you have good-quality “bones” (i.e., summer basics) rather than ill-fitting or worn-out essentials.

Opt for shorts and pants with some structure and devoid of holes or stains. Choose versatile items that can be mixed and matched with other items in your wardrobe .

The key to basics looking good on their own is how they fit you. By nailing the fit you’ll solve many of your style issues.

You want to find shorts that hit above the knee and shirts that fit in the shoulders and sleeves. In other words, you want to look like your clothes fit you and aren’t just hand-me-downs from your older brother.

Check out how to wear shorts (and how men’s shorts should fit) and how a button up shirt should fit | button down fit guide for more in-depth breakdowns on fit.

25 Casual Summer Outfit Ideas for Men

In this list, we’re giving you a wide range of summer outfits. I’ll highlight the main features of each look. We’ll touch on smart casual and some classier options, so you’ve got what you need for any summer style scenario.

Light Layers

Keeping them lightweight is key if you’re not ready to get rid of all your layers.

Noragi jacket outfit

Brock keeps it easy with the Noragi Jacket . It’s a light fabric and stays open to keep you cool. It’s an uncommon (but stylish) piece to rock this time of year.

Short Sleeve Button-Downs

I once had a co-worker tell me that short-sleeve button-downs were dead. I strongly disagree.

View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Stylishly Rugged (@ericrnycstyle)

They’re classic, in my opinion. In this photo, Eric shows us a smart way to dress them up for summer. The loafers also make for a great smart casual summer choice.

Simple Patterns

Summer is your time to experiment with patterns . If you’re new to the game, start with simple, muted patterns.

View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Nick Urteaga (@coastalflicks)

Nick does that well here. Choosing light colors with a simple pattern gives an airy feel to the whole outfit.

High Low Combos

High-low combos are when you take dressier or smart pieces and mix them with more casual options.

High low combo

I took the loafers, which are definitely more dressy, and paired them with a patterned shirt and tank top. It still says casual summer, but there’s a little more intrigue to the look.

Summer Campus Casual

We’ll call this one a classic. Choosing pieces that offer some contrast and work well together is a great example of using basics to their full potential.

Casual greyscale outfit

This is where the fit of each piece becomes important. Since the pieces are all pretty basic, they need to fit you properly to look good.

Otherwise, sub in different colors for each piece as you please.

Light Long Sleeves

Personally, I’m a fan of a long-sleeve paired with shorts. Something about that juxtaposition just makes sense to me.

David in light long sleeves

This particular shirt is great because it’s a linen blend, and you can easily tuck it to give some structure. Remember, the long sleeves work because the top is thin and breathable. Don’t go for your Chris Evans Knives Out cable knit .

Smart Details

Making basic casual summer outfits feel more personal and stylish is all in the details. You can make smart choices that give it all personality.

View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by The 3rd Art Mac (@urban_sartorialist)

Adding elevated details like a polo, espadrilles, and a straw hat add those unique personal touches

Hoodies and Shorts

This always gives off a coastal casual summer vibe, and I like its simplicity.

View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Primer Magazine (@primermagazine)

This look works because the colors contrast but still work well together. The hoodie and shorts fit properly, and there’s some good detailing in the shorts as well as in the styling of the socks and shoes.

Relaxed Smart Styling

This is a great example of “unexpected styling.” It’s as if he subbed in trousers with some great shorts .

Relaxed smart styling

Taking dressier pieces, like the socks and loafers, and relaxing them into casual styling with the shorts and button-down gives you an eye-catching casual summer look.

Floral Prints

It would be a great mistake to not mention floral prints here. They’re always summery and are a good casual choice when you’re looking to add a pop.

Dark floral print shirt

I like that Brock chose a shirt with a dark base color and brighter florals to make them stand out.

Camp Collar Shirts

Another great staple for summer is a camp collar shirt. It’s light, unique in its collar detailing, and usually pretty bright.

David in camp collar shirt

You can simply style them with shorts or light denim and let them do the talking.

Vertical Stripes

A vertical stripe is a great pattern for any guy. Stripes can help to elongate your torso and make you look taller subtly.

View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by The Modest Man | Men’s Style (@modestmanstyle)

Pairing with shorter shorts like Brock did here helps you balance out the proportions if you’re on the shorter side.

Simple Color Combos

You can stick to cooler colors this summer. It doesn’t all have to be bright.

Eric does a great job of this here by bringing grey tones with a bit of blue. If you prefer simpler outfits, stick to 1-2 colors.

Dark Summer Colors

If you’re someone who prefers darker colors year-round, the key is to remember to utilize the proper materials. Stick to thinner fabrics in those dark colors you love.

View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Derrick Brownie | Photographer (@thedrk_knight)

Derrick also shows us a smarter casual summer look. The shorts’ pleats and waistband with the nice polo detailing elevate the whole outfit.

Smart Summer Options

This is a great smart summer outfit. The shirt and chinos are crisp and look high quality. The bag also adds to the dressier nature of the outfit.

Short sleeve button up and chinos 1

I personally also think that Eric found a great fit in the sleeve. This shirt accentuates his arms, which is a good “fit focus point” for short-sleeved shirts.

Bright Summer Colors

If you are feeling adventurous, try the kind of bright colors you might shy away from during fall and winter. Summer affords us more leeway in terms of wearing louder pieces.

Bright summer outfit

Everything in this outfit is bright, but it works together. That’s because there’s not a lot of it. The shorts are on the shorter side, and the shirt doesn’t have sleeves. It’s a compact dose of brightness.

The shirt is also terry cloth, which is almost towel-like. It’s a great summer fabric .

17 Pop of Color

This is an excellent example of a simple pop of color with layers. The yellow is bright but not too bright and works well with the rest of the outfit.

View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by will (@willbeingwell)

I like that you have the choice to wear the pop of color or take it off since it’s the top layer.

Winter Colors

Brown tones aren’t always associated with summer style. What works here is that while the color is more wintery, the shirt styling and fabric are summery.

This is a great way to make some of your winter base layers work for a casual summer style.

Summer Prep

I love this round-up of a preppier rugby style. It’s casual but still has some great dressier details in the collars and details.

View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Oxford Cloth Button Down (@oxfordclothbuttondown)

I’m a fan of the long sleeves and patterns mixed in to make each outfit here feel unique.

Subtle Contrast

Subtle contrast always works. It doesn’t always have to be a stark difference to make an impact.

Pink t-shirt khaki shorts

Brock also went for a great choice in the pale pink color of the tee. It’s an appropriate summer color without being too saturated.

Full Summer Send-Off

You can also go all-in on summer styling. Picking a terry cloth shirt with linen pants makes you look like you’re on vacation, but it’s totally worth it.

David in summer outfit

Huaraches are also some of my favorite summer shoes. I don’t enjoy sandals, but the woven leather of these shoes offers a great compromise.

Year-Round Basics

Brock shows us how to style year-round basics for the summer. You can find yourself wearing these pieces under layers and on their own.

It’s a good case for investing in quality basics that stay versatile.

Summer Dad Aesthetic

This sort of cool, hipster dad style has become more and more popular. It’s especially great for summer.

View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Chuck (@soartisticnow)

It’s simple and effortless but still looks intentional. That’s all you could really ask for in casual summer outfits.

Monochrome Styling

Monochrome is always a good choice. You don’t have to worry about pairing colors, and you get something that looks very intentional.

I like that Derrick did this with a brighter blue. So often, we see monochrome done with black, greys, and neutrals. I think testing out brighter colors is great for the summer.

Matching Sets

Matching sets can be your best friend. You can wear them as a set and take the thinking out of styling or break them up and get more use out of them.

David in matching shorts and shirt

This is also a great way to incorporate prints and patterns in a fun way. You know they’ll work together because they’re a matching set.

Casual Summer Styling Final Thoughts

Sometimes it feels like we have fewer options during the summer, but the truth is that we actually have a lot more freedom to play around with different styles.

I hope you found some inspiration for your summer wardrobe in this guide .

All of them look like you bought them clothes from second hand stores only without even checking the size of the piece

Not sure if you already covered it, but one thing I’d love to learn more about is breathable lightweight long leg pants and dress shirts. In most parts of Asia, it’s often considered “scrubby” to wear shorts for most business or social gatherings.

Even when it’s scorching hot out, you’ll always see people wearing full length pants, nice shoes, and dress shirts on a daily basis. I know there’s options out there, but I’d appreciate your advice on which brands are best at keeping the right look while staying cool.

I joined your website just three weeks ago. I’ve learned a phenomenal amount already! This video, and your examples in particular, have provided a number of new color combos for me to try. I have fairly blue eyes and have almost always gone in the light blue and gray direction. Now I have a whole new style to try. Would that you and your website were available >50 years ago!

One request: you are slender. I’m pretty barrel chested, 5’6″ 32 ” waist. Would you be able to do a video with individuals built more like me?

Thanks for showing us the color palette Brock, very helpful, this makes things a lot easier, saving time and money

I sized down substantially (size 38).

This guide will provide the ultimate fall fashion checklist for men who want an outfit that seamlessly transitions from hiking the trails to grabbing dinner at a local restaurant. The centerpiece? The incredibly versatile Trailhead Pants and Evolution Hoodie from Coalatree—two pieces that blend outdoor utility with casual style.

1. The Foundation of Fall Fashion: Coalatree Trailhead Pants

The perfect fall outfit for outdoor-loving men starts with the Trailhead Pants from Coalatree. These pants are designed with outdoor adventures in mind but also have a sharp enough look to wear casually around town or to a restaurant.

Key Features of Trailhead Pants:

  • All-Weather Comfort : Made from durable ripstop nylon and spandex, these pants offer breathability and comfort across all climates, from cool mornings on the trail to afternoon lunches in town.
  • Water-Resistant & Stain-Proof : The eco-friendly DWR finish repels water and resists stains, keeping you dry and clean even if you encounter unexpected rain or spill your coffee during brunch.
  • Stylish Yet Functional : Despite being designed for hiking, the Trailhead Pants have a sleek, streamlined fit that doesn’t scream “outdoor gear.” They can easily be dressed up for a casual evening at a restaurant, making them the perfect travel companion for men on the go.
  • Packable and Lightweight : Perfect for a weekend getaway, these pants pack down small into their own pocket, taking up minimal space in your bag while offering maximum versatility.
  • Durable and Stretchy : With 4-way stretch fabric and tough construction, the Trailhead Pants are ideal for hikes and adventures, yet comfortable enough for lounging around after a long day outdoors.

The ability to go from the trails to dinner without changing outfits makes these pants a must-have for men’s fall fashion. Pair them with the right top, and you’ll be ready for any occasion.

2. Stay Cozy and Stylish: The Evolution Hoodie

No fall outfit is complete without the perfect hoodie. Enter the Evolution Hoodie from Coalatree—a high-performance layer that doesn’t sacrifice style. This hoodie works equally well as a hiking essential and as a casual top for an evening out.

Key Features of the Evolution Hoodie:

  • Sustainably Made : The Evolution Hoodie is made from recycled coffee grounds and plastic bottles, making it not only incredibly soft and comfortable but also environmentally friendly.
  • Water-Repellent Finish : Just like the Trailhead Pants, this hoodie has a water-repellent finish, making it ideal for those unpredictable fall weather days when rain is always a possibility.
  • Soft and Comfortable : The hoodie’s fleece-like material feels incredibly soft against the skin, keeping you warm during chilly hikes or outdoor gatherings without feeling bulky or restrictive.
  • Practical Storage : With zippered kangaroo pockets, you can safely store your phone, keys, and wallet while out exploring or even when you’re sitting down to eat, knowing your valuables are secure.
  • Versatile Design : While the Evolution Hoodie offers the warmth and durability needed for the outdoors, its sleek and simple design allows it to be worn in a variety of settings, from hiking trails to casual nights out with friends.

The Evolution Hoodie is an essential part of any man’s fall wardrobe, providing a stylish solution for layering up during outdoor excursions, while still being refined enough to wear out for dinner or drinks.

3. The Perfect Weekend Getaway Outfit

For those quick weekend getaways, you need an outfit that’s ready for anything. Whether you’re hiking, exploring a new town, or meeting friends for dinner, having a few key pieces that can be worn in multiple situations is critical. Here’s how to complete your weekend look, pairing the Coalatree Trailhead Pants and Evolution Hoodie with other essentials:

Versatile Footwear:

  • Lightweight Hiking Boots : A pair of stylish, lightweight hiking boots will complement your outfit and be functional enough for hitting the trails. Look for boots that are comfortable, water-resistant, and stylish enough for casual settings.
  • Casual Sneakers : For a more laid-back day, pack a pair of comfortable sneakers that can transition from walking around town to grabbing a bite to eat. Neutral-colored sneakers work well with the Trailhead Pants and Evolution Hoodie, offering a polished yet relaxed look.

Layering with a Flannel Shirt :

  • Flannel shirts are a quintessential fall staple that add an extra layer of warmth and style. Wear one over the Evolution Hoodie for added insulation during colder hikes, or take off the hoodie and wear the flannel on its own for a more casual, restaurant-ready look.

Accessorize Smartly :

  • Beanie or Cap : A beanie adds warmth for chilly mornings or evenings, while a cap can protect you from the sun during daytime hikes. Both can complement your outdoor and casual look.
  • Multipurpose Bandana : Bandanas are incredibly useful for both outdoor adventures and casual wear. Use one as a neck warmer during a hike or as an accessory to add some personality to your outfit.

Sunglasses :

  • Sunglasses are essential for protecting your eyes from the sun while hiking, but they’re also a great accessory to add a bit of style to your look when dining al fresco or walking around town.

4. Packing Tips for a Weekend Getaway

To keep your packing light and efficient, focus on items that are versatile, lightweight, and easy to mix and match. With just a few core pieces, you can create multiple outfits that work for a variety of activities. Here’s how to pack for a hassle-free weekend trip:

  • Stick to Neutrals : Pack neutral-colored clothing that easily coordinates, such as grays, greens, and earth tones. The Trailhead Pants and Evolution Hoodie, both available in neutral colors, work with just about anything.
  • Pack Light : Thanks to the packability of both the Trailhead Pants and Evolution Hoodie, you won’t need to worry about taking up too much space in your bag. Add a couple of shirts, a pair of hiking boots, and you’re good to go.
  • Layer Up : Fall weather can be unpredictable, so layers are your best friend. Pack light base layers and top them off with your flannel shirt and hoodie for warmth and style.

5. Men’s Fall Fashion Checklist for Outdoor Adventures and Casual Dining

Here’s a quick rundown of the essential items to include in your fall weekend getaway outfit:

  • Coalatree Trailhead Pants : Stylish, water-resistant, and versatile for any occasion.
  • Coalatree Evolution Hoodie : Cozy, water-repellent, and perfect for layering.
  • Lightweight Hiking Boots : Functional enough for trails and stylish enough for casual wear.
  • Casual Sneakers : A comfortable option for exploring or dining out.
  • Flannel Shirt : The ideal layering piece for warmth and style.
  • Accessories : Beanie, cap, and sunglasses to complete your look.

Be Ready for Anything This Fall

With the right outfit and gear, you can easily navigate a weekend filled with outdoor adventures, casual dining, and everything in between.

By choosing versatile clothing like Coalatree’s Trailhead Pants and Evolution Hoodie , you’ll be prepared for any fall activity while staying comfortable and stylish.
