Road to hana veteran, best trip yet.

We’ve travelled the “Road to Hana” several times. Driven it twice. Rode once in a 12 passenger van on a tour. This time we took the private tour with Maui Legend Tours. Our guide was Jack, he’s been in Hawaii since 1979 and knows a lot of the history and local culture. We found his knowledge of Hawaiian history and his ability to share it very pleasurable. He stopped at multiple sites along the road and gave us ample time for pictures. This was a “high end” tour in an Escalade and we enjoyed it immensely.

A great day in Maui

Jack was the perfect guide and host; knowledgable and professional. His pace and narration were spot-on. Granted, weather can make a difference, but on Maui, rain tends to pass quickly and after a couple of short showers, we were back to perfect conditions. If you want to experience Maui away from the resorts and learn about the island's history, this is the tour I would recommend to family and friends.

Jack was a great host and masterful story teller!

There are several ways to enjoy taking on the road to Hana. You can go no your own. The downside of that is driving is exhausting and you often miss things because you're constantly monitoring the road. You can take a tour where you can relax and let the tour guide drive AND you can learn a lot about the island. The only downside of that is your trip is relegated to a set script, pre-determined places and times so if there is something you really want to sink your teeth into, you have no choice but to go along with the group. Finally you can take a private tour like with Maui Legend Tours with Jack and have the best of all the worlds. Jack is a gracious host and extremely knowledgeable of the area and island. We loved the flexibility of exploring parts of Hana we weren't aware of.This is the perfect tour for couples, small families or private groups who want a unique and special experience without having to go on traditional tours.

My wife and I had the pleasure of joining Jack "the legend" for a private day-long tour of the island. Arrangements where handled over the phone and by text and everything fell into place easily. Jack was the most knowledgeable tour guides we have ever had the pleasure of traveling with. I would recommend this company to anyone looking to explore Maui in something other than the back of a 50 passenger bus!

Fun Fun Fun!

We had a great time with Jack “The Legend”. He took us around the island to some of the best places to visit and had prepared a nice breakfast and lunch for the whole family. We visited historic towns, beaches with nesting turtles, had beautiful views of the island and more! Jack is a great storyteller, and his narration of Hawaii’s history and legends had us engaged throughout the whole tour. Jack’s tour was one of the highlights of our trip, and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Maui! Aloha from Peru!

Excellent  snorkeling trip! Loved this trip and Captain Brad! He took us to a special spot to see turtles with no other boats around. The boat wasn’t crowded at all, with lots of room. Then to Molokini after all the other boats had left! Excellent trip and we will definitely book again!

Tons of Marine Life and Great Guides! Captain Brad and Ariel were incredible guides. Very knowledgeable and they took us to the best spots, and avoided the crowds so we had a very private experience. We saw tons of sea turtles, tropical fish, swam above a pod of dolphins, and they even followed a humpback whale for a bit. They went above and beyond. Would definitely recommend this trip!

Best Snorkeling Trip on Maui! Captain Brad is a captain like none other. The way he pilots the stunning Reef Explorer is almost as beautiful as the pristine uncrowded waters he blesses you with. Before you even leave the harbor the crew make sure you don’t go a moment thirsty or uninformed. Everyone was blown away by crystal clear waters and diverse wildlife. There was plenty of freedom to explore (something you won’t get on a big boat). I could not recommend this tour more.

We did a private tour to Haleakala Crater and Iao V alley and it was one of the best tours we’ve ever been on. Wendy was our tour guide and she was absolutely incredible. We were traveling with young kids and Wendy was extremely accommodating and patient and kept the kids engaged the entire time.

We did a private birding tour with Wendy, who was an enthusiastic guide, very knowledgeable regarding Hawaiian birds, plants, geology and culture.

Fantastic Hike with lore and humor led by Wendy. Her extreme attention to detail and the fact she was well prepared beyond anything you could think of made this a fantastic and unforgettable day.

The ‘apapane is a small, deep rich red-colored, primarily nectarivorous Hawaiian honeycreeper (Family: Fringillidae) and is an important ‘ōhi‘a (Metrosideros polymorpha) pollinator. It is the most abundant and widely distributed Hawaiian honeycreeper, and is often seen flying above the canopy in search of patches of flowering ‘ōhi‘a. Wide-ranging movements may facilitate disease transmission among native forest birds. ‘Apapane often forage in flocks composed of their same species, likely to overwhelm ‘i‘iwi (Vestiaria coccinea) and ‘ākohekohe (Palmeria dolei), which often defend flower-rich trees. Outside the breeding season, ‘apapane also join hunting parties made up of several species. They feed on insects, which they glean from outer foliage and twigs in the upper- and mid-canopy. Sexual chasing and courtship feeding often comes before nest building, a task shared by both male and female. Pairs defend small territories around nests. Well-known for being solid boats, Uniflites are respected seagoing yachts. Leilani is perfectly designed for Hawaiian waters and features added amenities for your comfort. Her spacious main cabin provides perimeter seating and shelter from inclement weather and there is always plenty of space as she operates at a limited capacity. There are large windows with plenty of air flow and forward of the main cabin is a private restroom.

Please note: Your safety is our number one priority! Fortunately, Mother Nature nearly always cooperates, and we do go to Molokini and Turtle Town. On days of inclement weather, our Expert Captains reserve the right to select alternate locations where the conditions are safe and offer the best overall conditions.
