5 Inspiring Tiny House YouTube Channels To Binge in 2024
Since getting into minimalism and sustainable living, I’ve naturally been fascinated with tiny homes. And after many years of watching tiny house youtube channels, my wife and I finally decided to purchase land and build our first tiny.
Our story isn’t unique. Many folks get into tiny living as a result of these channels.
I’ve probably watched over 1,000 tiny house tours and stumbled across some incredible YouTubers I want to acknowledge and share with you.
I’ve also included some of my favourite tiny tours for each show, and I’d love to hear about your top picks in the comments.
1. Living Big in a Tiny House
Bryce Langston’s YouTube show, Living Big in a Tiny House , is one of the most popular channels documenting the tiny house movement.
The New Zealand native gives viewers an inside look at all kinds of attractive small homes from around the world, including treehouses, earth homes, shipping container homes, busses and vans.
Bryce’s partner Rasa Pescud does videography for the show, which began in late 2013.
As someone who’s watched and subscribed to the channel for many years, I can attest to Bryce’s enthusiasm for tiny livingâdespite being a pretty big guy.
2. Exploring Alternatives
I came across Exploring Alternatives when doing research for a podcast episode on using minimalism to downsize your life . After seeing a story about how a man left his well-paying job to work part-time at a grocery store , I knew I had to see more.
The videos are beautifully shot and edited and tell fascinating stories about people living alternative lifestyles. Each video presents a unique perspective on living differently, from tiny house dwellers to long-term travellers.
What I love most about Exploring Alternatives is that it isn’t just about pretty homes and dreamy lifestyles. It’s also about the hard work and dedication that goes into living an alternative lifestyle.
Through their videos, the talented Canadian couple, Mat and Danielle, show that it’s possible to live a life that is both meaningful and sustainable.
3. Tiny House Giant Journey
I recently discovered Tiny House Giant Journey , and I’m now a fan. Jenna Spesard initially started a YouTube channel to document how she built and lived in a tiny house so that she could free up her finances and travel the world.
Tiny House Giant Journey has evolved to share alternative dwellings, lifestyle videos, and tiny vacation rentals while still capturing Jenna’s travel adventures and projects.
What I appreciate most is how raw and transparent Jenna is about tiny living. You learn the good and the not-so-good so that you can learn through her experiences.
If you’re considering building a tiny house or entering the short-term rental market, you need to check out Rob Abasolo’s YouTube channel, Robuilt .
Rob is an expert in tiny house Airbnb rentals, and he’s 11x Airbnb Superhost with over $1.5 million in bookings .
Rob’s channel blew up when he shared his story of building a tiny house in his Los Angeles backyard for just $72k and renting it out on Airbnb. He’s since gone on to build tiny house villages and glamping sites, which he documents and shares in his videos.
Not only does Rob provide valuable insights and tips, but he also demonstrates that tiny homes can be highly profitable investments.
5. Tiny House Expedition
The Tiny House Expedition is run by a married couple, Alexis and Christian, who are self-proclaimed tiny home nerds.
After building their own tiny house on wheels (THOW) in 2015, they hit the road as full-time nomads. They’re still travelling part-time in their shuttle bus conversion.
What caught my attention about this channel was their “living tiny legally” series. Unfortunately, full-time tiny house living is not legal everywhere, as many local councils/counties aren’t quite sure how to categorise tiny houses.
So this series documents people’s experiences of dealing with local governments in different states and the experiences of other tiny house dwellers around the country.
It’s equally frustrating and inspiring and offers an intimate look at the multifaceted tiny house movement.
The best tiny house YouTube channels to follow
So that’s my short list of tiny home YouTubers worth following this year. From informative tiny tours to Airbnb rentals, they offer something for everyone.
What do you think? Who would you add to the list? Let me know in the comments below.

I love watching tiny house YouTube channels! They’re so inspiring and motivating. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for tiny house living!
I love tiny homes, so thank you for these links. I built a small eco-cabin on a somewhat remote island, which wasn’t my first build, but it really cemented my disbelief in local building codes that do not support small eco-homes (so there were comprises with size, etc.). I definitely prefer a more portable life now and while I could someday see myself having a tiny home on wheels, or an eco van camper (as soon as they become eco enough to consider), tiny apartment living is working well, too, whether traveling or settling in for a bit. Gratitude.

Do YouTube House Tours Show Off an Outdated American Dream?
Social media stars exhibit grand houses representing an ideal, home ownership, that is increasingly hard to come by for the average millennial. Millennials might not want it anyway.
YouTuber personalities â lifestyle vloggers, family-oriented channels and beauty gurus â reel in whopping numbers of views when they invite their subscribers into their homes . The house tour is almost its own genre of video, like the makeup tutorial or ever-relevant skin care routine. Unlike those videos, however, house tours are less about teaching and more about showing.
House tours provide a glance into the luxurious lifestyle a YouTube career can provide, showing that internet fame might be the truest fast-track to the traditional American dream of owning property.
Viral house tours are most often in the grandest homes, inviting viewers into McMansions and futuristic palaces in LA. They show off the kinds of âdream homesâ one might ogle over on HGTV, except that the owners, rather than wealthy middle-aged couples with fancy titles, are millennials whoâve reached absurd amounts of wealth via YouTube.
Makeup-guru-turned-millionaire Jeffree Star, for example, showed off his palatial mansion in January to 24 million users. The property is quite an accomplishment for anyone, let alone someone who is only 34 years old . âSix years ago, I had $500 to my name,â he says in the beginning of the video, showing how internet success can catapult âordinary peopleâ to the crest of the almost otherworldly affluence represented by an eight-bedroom compound in Calabasas.
âNo dream is ever too big,â Star prefaces his tour, on a backdrop of a massive backyard pool and columned patio. But if YouTube stars think sprawling mansions make up viewersâ wildest dreams, are they assuming that their audiences subscribe to the excessive consumerism that defines U.S. culture ? And if so, are they right?
A professor of international relations at George Washington University, Amitai Etzioni, defines consumerism as âthe obsession with acquisition that has become the organizing principle of American life.â Consumerism becomes a âsocial diseaseâ when large amounts of people attempt to satisfy the higher human needs of affection, self-esteem and self-actualization through the acquisition of more and more goods and services.
Highly anticipated YouTuber house tours perpetuate consumerism because many of them canât be beat for their opulence and the aura of âmade itâ-ness their tour guides seem intent on selling. The ACE Family, a young family of four who share vlogs to more than 18 million subscribers, recently uploaded a house tour lasting a full hour.
In this video, Austin McBroom and Catherine Paiz show viewers around their massive compound, which they explain consists of two houses combined together. Amenities like a Steinway piano that plays itself and a game room stocked with real arcade machines promote the belief that spending exorbitant amounts on in-home extravagances represents an exciting marker of career achievement.
However, millennials overall reject lives based around the materialism of older demographics. The benefits of minimalism have resonated with younger generations who realize that acquiring more and more things doesnât guarantee fulfillment. Buying less means less debt, a smaller environmental footprint and less pressure to impress with newer and better things.
Millennials have a different set of values around money. These values have been shaped by a historic recession, a struggling job market and a record amount of student debt. Those between the ages of 18 and 34 prefer to spend money on experiences rather than goods , and to buy ethically and environmentally conscious products over others. The Tiny House phenomenon stands as the perfect counter-image to the grandiose homes influencers display to their following. Even though internet users gobble up tours of luxury homes on YouTube, millennialsâ trending toward  minimalism reveal that they arenât entirely sold on the dream.
Owning a large house also just isnât attainable for scores of young people looking to buy homes for the first time. A home-buying crisis faces millennials. Rising home prices and crushing amounts of student debt make it hard for the millennial generation to afford traditional homes.
Young influencers like James Charles, teenage YouTube couple The Traphamily , and beauty guru turned lifestyle vlogger Remi Ashten have all posted videos in the past year showing viewers their first homes. Each creator is no older than 25. For better or worse, as homeowners under 30, they represent an anomaly .
However, there is no denying that the house tours are seductive. While the sizes of each home vary, all of the properties are upscale, with luxe architecture and wide open rooms that will require an investment just to furnish. No matter what channel they are uploaded to, house tours attract some of the most views and thus become the most popular videos for any given creator. Commenters gush over the beauty of the home, their own jealousy and their pride at seeing a creator theyâve followed complete a landmark achievement of adulthood.
Owning a home has long been a hallmark of the American dream . Home ownership signifies the attainment of a certain level of economic and personal prosperity that America, âthe land of opportunity,â promises. When YouTubers show viewers around their impressive homes, they do more than fulfill their duties as content creators. Theyâre selling a dream. That is why millions of viewers â subscribers and non-subscribers alike â click on these videos enough times for them to be a channelâs most-viewed video.
Perhaps the popularity of YouTube house tours has to do with the absurdity of watching a 20-something give a tour of a stately property that is all their own. Viewers are attracted to the story of affluence reached at such a young age, but they also know that this story is a fairy tale . With the top 3% of YouTubers making a total of around $17,000 per year, being able to afford a ritzy place is unlikely even for those that try their hand at success on the platform.
While captivating, YouTube house tours miss the mark. Out of necessity, but also out of changing values, millennialsâ ambitions consist of what canât be bought. Despite what the views suggest, for many, âdream housesâ will not capture the American dream.

Navy and White Lake House Mudroom
The tour continues today at my parent’s lake house with the mudroom. Well, mudroom/entryway/foyer, it’s always confusing at a lake house. Technically the lake side of the house is the “front” but then also the street side, or back side typically has the front door? I don’t know what to tell you, except through the front door you will find this charming entry that does double duty as a mudroom. So let’s take a little tour of their navy and white lake house mudroom.
We wanted to create an inviting yet practical space to greet you when you first enter their home. My mom fell in love with several images on Pinterest of buffalo check patterned tile floors, and I knew this would be a great spot to implement that design.
Although it created a bit of headache for the tile installers, we are so pleased with how it turned out. We used 3 colors of tile -a navy/charcoal tile, a medium blue tile, and a cream color.
Now that we had our large scale patterned tile floor, we decided to go all in with pattern on the walls as well.
I have loved this wallpaper for a long time and it’s so fun in this space. My tip for mixing patterns is to make sure the scales are different. This wallpaper has a tight small scale abstract floral pattern, so it plays well with the larger square geometric floor pattern.
Navy custom cabinets painted to match the front door finished the space.
I love a large mirror in an entry so you have a spot for a final check before you head out the door. We opted for a wood tone mirror here, since this flows into the kitchen with a wood island.
We added a table for a spot to throw your keys, mail, and library books. This one is great because it has nice storage as well.
My mom found this little chair at an antique store, since they were missing a spot to sit down to put on shoes.
This is my grandpa’s old umbrella stand my mom has had forever, it is such a special piece.
This room looks like one big rectangle but it actually opens up to a back hall that leads to the guest bath. It is the perfect spot to corral their dog when they aren’t home. My uncle built this little dutch pocket door on wheels, so they can easily close off this space. It’s so nice not to have dog gates lying around when not in use.
Oh and I can’t forget this cute bunny lamp, I think it may still be out of stock but you can sign up to be notified when they get it back!
This navy and white lake house mudroom really came together to be such a warm welcoming space, with a touch of whimsy that I love.
I’m teasing you all with sneak peeks of the kitchen, that I cannot wait to share next week!

A Look into Kevin Hart's Mansion, and The Estates of Other Black Celebs Including Lil Baby, Rupaul âAnd More
Lenny kravitz, scottie pipen, shonda rhimes and carmelo anthony are just a few of the celebs who gave ad our favorite tours of their happy places..
Most celebrities like to keep their private lives private. So when they open the door to let us in, we canât help but step inside (very cutesy, of course).
Architectural Digest âs Open Door series gives fans a sneak peek inside the homes of some of the hottest celebrities, showing us where they enjoy their favorite family meals, entertain their friends and family and unwind at the end of a long day.
Since this is probably as close as weâll ever get to these starsâ homes, weâve rounded up some of our favorite tours of Black celebrity spaces. Enjoy!
Winnie Harlow
Hollywood glam was the design inspiration for supermodel Winnie Harlowâs home, as she told AD in 2023. We love the neutral furniture pieces and eye-catching accents like the greenery and the photo of her above the fireplace.
Lil Baby shared his Atlanta bachelor pad with AD in August 2023. We love the open floor plan and high ceilings that let plenty of sunlight in.
Devin Booker
NBA star Devin Booker shared his Phoenix home with AD in 2022 . With help from LA-based firm Clements Design, he was able to create a bright, relaxing space that is perfect for relaxing.
Naomi Campbell
In 2021, actress and model Naomi Campbell took A rchitectural Digest  to her villa in Malindi, Kenya. The place Campbell says she goes to unplug was designed to be a calming space. âYou just want to read and be with yourself,â she said.
Shonda Rhimes
In March 2022 , Shonda Rhimesâ let Architectural Digest inside her Upper East Side Manhattan apartment, and we couldnât help but fall in love with the beautifully bold mixture of color and texture throughout. The space, which she said was designed to give her multiple places to work, is definitely giving us âBridgertonâ vibes.
Lenny Kravitz
Rocker Lenny Kravitzâ Brazilian farm compound was the subject of an AD âOpen Doorâ episode in 2019. Far away from Hollywood, the âFly Awayâ singerâs home was built on an 18th-century coffee plantation.
Carmelo Anthony
Former NBA star Carmelo Anthony loves art, and he has several amazing pieces throughout his Westchester, New York home. He shared some of his favorites with Architectural Digest in 2023, Â
Kerry Washington
When sheâs in New York City, Kerry Washington enjoys the view from her Manhattan apartment that overlooks the Hudson River. She shared the space, designed with help from Restoration Hardware, with Architectural Digest in 2019.
Alicia Keys & Swizz Beats
Music superstars Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats gave AD a tour of their La Jolla, California home in 2022 . The space, which has a stunning ocean view has plenty of windows that allow them to take it all in.
We loved practically every room in RuPaulâs Beverly Hills home when he showed it off to AD in 2023. But if we had to choose a favorite space, this dressing area would be it.
Scottie Pipen
Former NBA star Scottie Pippen shared his Chicago-area mansion with AD in 2021. Everything about the inside, from the movie room to the indoor basketball court, is impressive. But the outside is something to see. Talk about curb appeal!
Viola Davis and Julius Tennon
Actors Viola Davis and Julius Tennon told AD that the den is one of their favorite places in their Los Angeles home, and itâs the place where most of the conversations happen. They shared their space and their comfy couch â the focal point of the room â with Architectural Digest in January 2023 .
Justina Blakeney
We knew Jungalow founder Justina Blakeneyâs home would be full of color. And when she shared her space with Architectural Digest in May 2022 , the designer and artist did not let us down.
Actor/comedian Kevin Hart opened the doors of his 40,000 square foot Hollywood office space to Architectural Digest in January 2024. Designed to encourage creativity, there is plenty of light and lots of cozy seating areas.

PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE: More questions than answers: Congressional task force tours site of Trump assassination attempt
August 26 , 2024.
By Hallie Lauer
Members of the congressional task force investigating the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump toured the grounds where the shooting took place on Monday and said they now have more questions than answers.
Nine of the 13 members of the bipartisan U.S. House of Representatives task force, which was created shortly after the July 13 shooting, walked through the Butler Farm Show grounds where a gunman opened fire on Trump as held a campaign rally.
Many of the lawmakers present said the tour was eye-opening.
“The big thing for us being here today was to actually be on the ground, get familiar with the ground and be comfortable with the questions we were going to ask because of the way it was laid out,” said Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Butler, the task force co-chair and witness to the shooting .
“What’s impressive to me,” said Rep. Madeleine Dean, D-Montgomery, “is the proximity of everything here, particularly the position of the shooter and the proximity of the president.”
Despite police in and around the farm grounds building, shooter Thomas Crooks was able to scale an exterior wall, move into position, confront a local law enforcement officer with his rifle and fire a deadly salvo into a crowd of rally-goers.
The ability of Crooks — who police said scouted the grounds ahead of time and flew a drone over the area hours before the rally started — to position himself on an unguarded rooftop just 150 yards away from Trump has baffled security experts.
The shooting killed former firefighter Corey Comperatore and left Trump and two others wounded. Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, was killed by a bullet fired by a Secret Service agent.
“We were inches away from an American catastrophe,” said Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla. “I look forward to getting the facts of what failed that day.”
For Rep. Lou Correa, D-Calif., the tour of the grounds raised questions about how communication is handled when multiple agencies are involved in an event.
“Who’s ultimately responsible? Who’s in charge?” he said. “I want to know who makes the decisions. If the Secret Service says ‘do x’ and the campaign says ‘do not do that,’ who decides and who is ultimately responsible for the outcome?”
The striking security failures at the rally have become the focus of intense criticism of the Secret Service and the local law enforcement they relied on to help guard the Republican nominee and his supporters.
The task force was approved in a resolution last month as several hearings on Capitol Hill revealed more details about the shooter and security lapses before and during the rally. Kimberly Cheatle, former head of the Secret Service, resigned after being grilled by lawmakers in a House Oversight Committee hearing.
Several agents from the Secret Service Pittsburgh field office were reportedly placed on leave last week as the investigation continues.
“It’s so important for this task force to walk these grounds, see this area and see this physical space,” said Rep Laurel Lee, R-Fla. “ It has raised more questions than we came here with.”
Each of the lawmakers said they are eager to get answers “for the American people.”
They also stressed the bipartisan nature of the task force. Of the 13 members, six are Democrats and seven are Republicans. Only nine members were present Monday. U.S. Reps, Mark Green, R-Tenn., Mike Waltz, R-Fla., Clay Higgins, R-La. and Pat Fallon, R-Texas did not attend.
“The whole effort of this task force is to make sure we get all the answers to the questions we ask,” Mr. Kelly said. “Getting to the truth is a slow process and none of us are looking at it as we have to get a quick answer. We’re looking at, we have to get the right answer.”
Mr. Kelly said that his “burning question,” is how law enforcement missed signs of trouble.
“There was knowledge ahead of time that there was a person of suspicion on that roof and armed,” he said. “The key was, get the former president of the United States off the podium. Then there’s nothing that has to take place.”
Lawmakers were scheduled to talk to local law enforcement agencies after their tour of the grounds to further discuss their investigations, although Rep. Jason Crow, D-Colo., declined to say specifically who they would be meeting with.
Various law enforcement agencies from Butler, including the city of Butler and Butler Township, had officers at the event, as did neighboring counties like Beaver. They were also joined by state troopers.
Mr. Kelly said the group had a briefing with the FBI last week and has talked with Secret Service members.
The Crooks family has hired Pittsburgh lawyers from the Quinn Logue law firm, according to a report from the Daily Mail. The firm did not respond to attempts for comment on Monday from the Post-Gazette.

Jana Duggar Shows Off Her Nebraska Fixer Upper with New Husband â and Calls on Dad Jim Bob for Help!
The former âCounting Onâ star revealed she was relocating to her husband Stephen Wissmannâs hometown after the pair tied the knot on Thursday, Aug. 15
Natalia Senanayake is an Editorial Assistant, Lifestyle at PEOPLE. She covers all things travel and home, from celebrities' luxury mansions to breaking travel news.
Jana Duggar is sharing an update on her Nebraska fixer upper!
The former Counting On star, 34, brought her YouTube subscribers on a tour of the home that sheâs renovating with her new husband Stephen Wissmann . In addition to giving a rundown of the space, Jana showed off a little bit of the demo process â and enlisted the help of her dad Jim Bob Duggar and her sisters.
âMy dad and some of my sisters have come up to help us with demo day at our fixer upper,â she explains in the video.Â
The camera cuts to Jim Bob teaching them how to remove the closet doors from one of the rooms. She then shows her sisters helping to remove the carpets and calls the process âa little grossâ when they discover some moisture underneath.Â
In another scene, Jim Bob and Wissmann work together to rip out one of the walls. Over the clip, Jana writes, âOf course, we have plenty of fun on the job too!â

Earlier in the video, Jana explains how she and her husband plan to demolish the wall between the first and second bedroom to create one large primary suite.Â
After the wall is out, she marvels at how the space looks âso much bigger.â She also notes how grateful she is for her helpers.Â
âItâs amazing to me how fast a project like this can move along with so many people in here volunteering their time and energy to help. We are so thankful for all the extra workers,â she says.
While giving a tour of the five-bedroom abode, Jana brings viewers downstairs and reveals how the expansive living area might be turned into a game room or a home theater.Â
Upstairs, she notes how they want to rip out the glossy wood floor in the open kitchen and living space as itâs ânoisyâ to walk on and âit never looks clean.â They also ripped out one of the closets to make the room feel even bigger.
âEven though this place feels a bit gutted, I have to say, just looking out here, I am so in love with this natural light,â she says. "That is something that this home really has going for it. Lots of great windows on every side. I canât wait to see how this place comes together."

Jana â who is the eldest daughter of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar âs 19 children â tied the knot with Wissmann in Prairie Grove, Ark. on Thursday, Aug. 15. During an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the former TLC star revealed her and her husbandâs plans to relocate to Wissmann's hometown in Nebraska.
"He has a little house we bought that we've been fixing up and getting pulled together, and so that's been fun," Jana shared.
Over the years, Jana says she worried that getting married might not be in the cards for her.
Darian Kaia Photography
"I think as I got older, it definitely came on more and more and it felt like, 'Okay, this isn't happening. Let me figure out something else, maybe I'm supposed to be doing something else,' " she says.
Jana says she "dated around," but nothing ever materialized. "I'm just like, 'What is it? Is it me? Do I have a problem?'"
She adds, "I haven't always understood what the bigger picture is, but I know that God knows what is best for all of us. And so for me, it's getting married later. Each of our stories will be written differently. If we were all the exact same, it would be a boring life. So I think it's neat how God orchestrates."
