Cheeky Kea Tours is not responsible for any loss moneys for customer bookings before manual confirmation has been sent. Any fines, penalties, payments or expenditures incurred as a result of such documents not meeting the requirements of those authorities will be your sole responsibility. If you are travelling with a wheelchair, mobility scooter or baby pushchair that cannot be collapsed down to fit our luggage size stated above, it will be regarded as Oversize Luggage. Please make sure to get in contact with us so we can make the necessary arrangements. Cheeky Kea Tours has the right to refuse to take luggage if it does not meet the requirements set out in these Terms and Conditions, or if it breaches the Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017, Part 5, Subpart 1. If you decided to travel with more luggage and/or with oversize items (these do not include wheelchairs, mobility scooters or baby pushchairs) than permitted as above, then the additional item(s) may be refused if there is no available space. Prohibited items are not permitted either on board or in the luggage compartment. Cheeky Kea Tours does not carry unaccompanied parcels under any circumstances. Passengers must never accept luggage or parcels on behalf of someone. Baggage is at 'owner's risk'. Cheeky Kea Tours will not be responsible or liable for any loss or inconvenience if a passenger is refused travel under any of these circumstances. Most airports, hotels & hostels offer storage services for additional luggage. Make sure you have travel insurance to cover your personal belongings. Amendment Fees We will not charge an amendment fee for any tour date that is changed 60 days before departure. A 20% fee will be charged within the 60-day period. We will refund your amendment fee if someone else books your original booking. Amendments will not be available if it drops a tour group below our minimum operating number. In this case, follow the cancellation process. Minimum and Maximum Numbers As is normally the case with group tours, a minimum number of bookings are required for a tour to be financially viable and to have a pleasant group atmosphere. In the event that adequate numbers cannot be achieved, it may be necessary to cancel a scheduled departure and to offer the nearest possible alternative date, service or full refund. The date on which the decision is made whether a tour will operate is 30 days before the scheduled departure date. In the event of a breakdown or other unforeseen circumstances, the operator reserves the right to substitute vehicles other than those specified to ensure the operation of a tour. Cheeky Kea Tours restricts its max number of guests on tour to 16. From time to time, we may carry some extra people from point to point such as hitch hikers. This is at the sole discretion of the tour group at the time. Maximum numbers in shared dorms Our included accommodation is dorm share (unless you are upgrading to a private room). We try and maintain a maximum of 6ppl per Dorm. If you feel uncomfortable and would like a single sex dorm, please get in contact with us at the time of booking. Itineraries Itineraries are subject to alteration without notice and intended as a guide only. We like to let our guests have control of the trip. We can make any changes that are cost neutral based on the groups wishes. We understand not everyone wants to do or see the same things. We will do our best to compromise to keep everyone happy. If there is something you really want to do or see let us know. Alterations may come about due to road or weather conditions, strikes, public holidays, local festivals and cultural or other reasons. Due to the nature of the terrain and remote areas, weather fluctuations can adversely affect road conditions that may necessitate alterations to itinerary with little or no notice. Any additional expense incurred by such changes will be incurred by Cheeky Kea Tours. Cheeky Kea Tours can give no guarantee as to the exact arrival and departure times for carriers and operators used. Cheeky Kea Tours will not be liable for failure of any other services or attractions beyond its control. Optional Activities Booked on or Pre-Tour Activities booked on tour will be charged at the best rate we can obtain. Some activities will be charged to you by us others will be charged directly by the activity’s provider. Make sure you read and follow each activity providers terms and conditions carefully. Smoking Government regulations forbid smoking in tourist coaches. The vast majority of hostels also are non-smoking, with some having designated smoking areas outside.

Milford Sound Tour & Cruise, this small group, fully-guided day trip combines the amazing return journey to Milford Sound with a boutique Milford Sound Cruise aboard Cruise Milford, the number 1 Trip Advisor rated cruise company. Led by our famously passionate tour guides, notorious for bringing your journey to life by sharing their stories and rich background knowledge, and run in modern, comfortable minibuses that are packed with extras, ensuring your comfort and safety.

Highlights:

  • Milford Sound Cruise with Cruise Milford
  • Fiordland National Park
  • Lake Te Anau, Eglinton Valley, Mirror Lakes, Hollyford River, Homer Tunnel & Mitre Peak
  • Wildlife Spotting

1.       Queenstown - Your tour starts in the stunning city of Queenstown. As we drive out of the city your guide will not only set the scene for your adventure today but also point out and guide you past some of the area’s top highlights.

2.        Lake Wakatipu – Departing Queenstown we wind our way around Lake Wakatipu, with amazing views of ‘The Remarkables’ Mountain Range and the lake, stopping for photos is a must.

3.        Devils Staircase – Continuing around the lake we will pass through Devil’s Staircase. This elevated windy part of the road is famous for dramatic photos and setting the scene for the day to come.

4.        Lake Te Anau – After more amazing mountain, river and farmland views we arrive in Te Anau, home to Lake Te Anau, New Zealand’s second largest lake. While in this idyllic town we will stop for a break and maybe meet some of the local animals or wildlife. Continuing along the lake we stop at Te Anau Downs, the starting point for the Milford Track, to hear the stories and admire the views.

5.        Eglington Valley – Leaving Te Anau and entering Fiordland National Park we stop in Eglinton Valley. With views worthy of Lord of the Rings, this valley follows the path of an ancient glacier through Fiordland. One of the first major attractions as you enter the park, it really sets the scene for a journey that only get more impressive the deeper you get.

6.        Mirror Lakes – Our next stop on this epic adventure is Mirror Lakes for a short stroll to see the famous reflections of the Earl Mountains. Get the right day, take a good picture and no one with be able to tell which way is the right way up for the photo.

7.        Lake Gunn – Continuing along the Milford Road we come across Lake Gunn. Named after a famous explorer and popular for fishing, often we will stop at Lake Gunn for some photos and to enjoy the peace.

8.        Hollyford River & Falls Creek – A short drive away we start passing the Hollyford River a gorgeous and powerful river full of large boulders and rapids. Feeding into the river at Falls Creek is the first of our extremely impressive waterfalls of the area, one of many to come.

9.        Darran Mountains – Climbing in altitude we go deeper into the Darran Mountains and these views require another stop to admire and take photos. We are also entering the area where Kea (the world’s largest alpine parrot) like to live. Start keeping an eye out for these large, cheeky and colourful birds that never fail to thrill and entertain when found.

10.    Homer Tunnel – To make our way back down towards the sea we enter the mind-blowing hand-built Homer Tunnel, hearing the incredible history and stories. Emerging from the tunnel the valley descends sharply towards Milford Sound and on a rainy-day you will see hundreds of waterfalls cascading down the mountain side.

11.   Milford Sound – Following the valleys to the sea we arrive at Milford Sound where you will board your cruise with Cruise Milford (the No. 1 Cruise operator in Milford Sound on TripAdvisor). The Cruise Milford experience offers a boutique cruise on a smaller boat which is less crowded and a crew that offers a much more informative and personal tour of Milford Sound. The smaller boat means you get closer to the wildlife and nature including the New Zealand fur seals basking on the rocks, massive rock faces rising for hundreds of metres out of the sea and the waterfalls cascading from an ancient rainforest high in the mountains. This cruise is unbeatable.

12.   Mitre Peak – While on the boat cruise you will be able to marvel at the awe-inspiring Mitre Peak,  the iconic Milford Sound mountain, with its steep triangular peak rising high up above the reflective waters of the Milford Sound.

13.    Pop's View Lookout – Next we pull over to admire the elevated amazing views of the divide in the Southern Alps, close to the start of the Routeburn Track. While here the guide will tell you the stories of ancient Maori explorers.

14.    Queenstown – Sadly we must start to head back to Queenstown but your day is not over with a fully guided return trip and many stops and breaks along the way.

  • Small Group & Fully Guided Tour
  • Cruise Entry
  • Picnic Lunch
  • Water available & snacks provided

Travel insurance Travel insurance is not mandatory but highly recommended for all our travellers and should be taken out at the time of booking. Your travel insurance should provide cover against personal accident, death, medical expenses and emergency repatriation with a recommended minimum coverage of US$200,000 for each of the categories of cover. We also strongly recommend it covers cancellation, curtailment, personal liability and loss of luggage and personal effects. We can assist with organising this if required. Accident Compensation Commission (ACC) If you are injured whilst in New Zealand, ACC may be able to help with the cost of the treatment and support you need whilst you're here. However, it is important to be aware that you cannot sue for personal injury - ACC replaces that right. Furthermore, ACC only covers treatment and rehabilitation costs whilst in New Zealand; it is not a replacement for travel insurance and does not cover illness, disrupted travel plans or emergency travel to get you back home. Limitation of liability We contract with a network of companies, government agencies and individuals to assist in the running of our trips as agent for these third parties. We are not responsible for the acts and omissions of these third parties. To the extent an Implied Warranty cannot be excluded, our liability in respect of the Implied Warranty is limited to (in our absolute discretion): (i) the provision of a similar trip to an equivalent value; or (ii) a refund of the total amount received by us from you in connection with your booking. Any claim by you is excluded to the extent that it is for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits or economic loss, however it arises, or for indirect, special, punitive or exemplary damages. Local Partners Cheeky Kea Tours works with highly reputable local specialist operators. These local partners are all passionate about the activities they operate and offer the same high standards as we do. If any issues arise please let us know. Tours operated in conjunction with partners Cheeky Kea Tours operated some tours in conjunction with partner operators. These tours include but not limited to: • Christchurch to Queenstown (via Mt Cook) • Mt Cook to Queenstown • Queenstown to Christchurch (via Mt Cook) The booking system will issue a confirmation when you book one of the above tours. However, this does not mean that the tour is confirmed. Confirmation will be sent manually via email once the partner operator has confirmed their availability and accepted the booking. Please refrain from booking activities, flights, accommodation, etc until you have received this manual confirmation. Cheeky Kea Tours is not responsible for any loss moneys for customer bookings before manual confirmation has been sent. Passports & Visas All travellers must have a valid passport for international travel. Many countries require at least 6 months validity from the date of return and some countries require a machine-readable passport. It is important that you ensure that you have valid passports, visas and re-entry permits which meet the requirements of immigration and other government authorities. Any fines, penalties, payments or expenditures incurred as a result of such documents not meeting the requirements of those authorities will be your sole responsibility. Visit the NZ Immigration website to see if you need a visa to holiday here: http://www.immigration.govt.nz/ Luggage Cheeky Kea Tours carries checked luggage subject to the below terms and the Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017. All luggage carried must be clearly labelled with the passenger’s name, address, contact details and destination. We ask that out of respect for your fellow tour buddies that you limit your luggage to one large bag (length + width + height of 158 cm – 62 inches) and one day or small bag.

A brand with a purpose!

Jesse is the first member of the Cheeky Kea family. Growing up, he spent most of his time surfing and as he grew older, traveling became a part of him. He has been lucky enough to experience New Zealand and all its beauty for years and his aviation background provides insight on tourists necessities and customer service. Jesse is all about the experience. He believes an amazing holiday is not only about the place but the people. A great landscape with a story is a killer combination.

He also cares deeply about sustainability and the environment. He has been lucky enough to travel around and see all the beauty our planet has to offer, but he has also seen the ugly side of tourism. Jesse is conscious of the effect tourism can have on our landscapes, so he does everything he can to minimise the impact on the environment. As a result, Cheeky Kea was created to achieve 2 things. Give tourists what they deserve: The best holiday possible without compromising their wallets or comfort;

·Take care of our beautiful country and keep the environmental impact as low as possible.

We, the Cheeky Kea fam, want to leave a mark in the world and we want to do it differently. Sustainability Cheeky Kea Ltd is proud to be certified Zero Carbon Business Operations with Ekos. We have measured and offset the carbon footprint of our Business Operations for the 12-month period ending October 2021 with certified carbon credits from Ekos.

These certified carbon credits are sourced from projects that grow and protect forests in Aotearoa and internationally. They help to deliver climate resilience, waterways protection, erosion control, biodiversity conservation, and community economic development. Our guides Our team consist of professional, fun and fully licensed, fun and passionate tour guides, who have been working in the tourism industry for years. They have a great knowledge of New Zealand, love their job and want to share the beauty and magic of New Zealand.

Our guides have done trips for travel industry professionals, general public, adventure seekers and holiday makers. All of these groups have raved about the tours and have submitted outstanding feedback.

If you are late back to a pickup or stop location, then you maybe left behind. All additional costs will be at your expense. If you are unsure what your next departure time is please ask your driver. There is more flexibility on private tours as long as it stays within the legal drivers hours and requirements. Age & Health requirements A minimum age at the time of travel applies to many of our trips. Please see specific itineraries for details. For the majority of our trips we have no upper age limit though we remind you that our trips can be physically demanding, and passengers must ensure that they are suitably fit to allow full participation. Cheeky Kea Tours must be advised of any prior medical conditions or food allergies at time of booking. Not everyone has to partake in all activities. If you feel uncomfortable you are more than welcome to sit activities out. Health & Safety – Risk Disclosure All tours have inherent risks involved and can be dangerous. By booking a tour with Cheeky Kea Tours, you agree that you understand and accept the risks of the tour and agree to participate. All tour participants accept that Cheeky Kea Tours is not responsible for any injury or damage incurred during Cheeky Kea tour or a third parties tour/activity/attraction either booked by Cheeky Kea Tours or that makes up part of a Cheeky Kea tour and agree to participate at their own risk. Many of Cheeky Kea Tours tours operate in areas that may be remote, have rapidly changing and sometimes extreme weather, have difficult to access paths, uneven or steep terrain, moderate to high fitness requirements or be close to or on cold water. While all safety precautions are taken, it is the participants responsibly to ensure they have brought with them appropriate clothing and have the appropriate fitness/skill level for each tour. Participants of tours must advise Cheeky Kea Tours of any health or fitness issues that may affect their ability to participate in their booked tour/activity or may risk a tours timing or operational requirements in writing via the contact us page on our website or email within 12 hours of booking a tour. Cheeky Kea Tours recommends consulting with a team member about any health concerns they may have before booking. Cheeky Kea Tours reserves the right to cancel or alter a participant’s tour if we feel an activity or part of an activity may risk the health and safety of the individual or adversely affect the tour’s operation. No refunds will be given to participates in these circumstances when the participant has not advised Cheeky Kea Tours of health issues, the severity of the health issue or have consulted with Cheeky Kea Tours about the health issue and decided to continue with the tour anyway. Cheeky Kea Tours is not responsible for health and safety of passengers that are participating in third party activity/ attraction, including third party activities that are booked by Cheeky Kea Tours or make up part of a Cheeky Kea Tours tour. Health and safety of passengers participating in a third party activity will be handed over to the company operating the activity or attraction and their guides. Cheeky Kea Tours will pass onto the third party guides responsible for health and safety any concerns. Be sure to follow the third party health & safety information. Upon booking a tour with Cheeky Kea Tours participants agree to accept any risks that may be present at or during a third party activity or attraction. To the fullest extent permitted by law: • any liability for any loss, death, injury or damage which you may suffer (directly or indirectly) in connection with or arising out of your participation in a trip, or any breach of the Booking Conditions, is excluded; • you release us and our officers, employees, agents and representatives from any liability and expressly waive any claims you may have against us arising out of or in connection with your participation in a trip; and • any condition or warranty which would otherwise be implied by law into these Booking Conditions (Implied Warranty), is excluded.
