The 2023 run includes rescheduled dates in Washington D.C., Hartford, Toronto and Quebec that were postponed earlier this year due to COVID-19.

JOURNEY features founder Neal Schon (lead guitarist), Jonathan Cain (keyboards, backing vocals), Arnel Pineda (lead vocals), Jason Derlatka (keyboards, vocals), Deen Castronovo (drums, vocals) and Todd Jensen (bass).

Cain adds: "Excited to perform for our fans as we tour next year with TOTO . The music of JOURNEY along with the music of TOTO is an example of 'certain music' during 'uncertain times'."

Very special guest TOTO , who have collectively streamed more than 3.3 billion plays on Spotify alone based on hits including "Rosanna" , "Africa" and "Hold The Line" , will join JOURNEY on all dates.

TOTO 's Steve Lukather shares: "'On behalf of myself and the band, we are very honored and excited to do this tour with our old and dear friends JOURNEY . Gonna be a great night of music, and as all the guys are lifelong friends... a blast off stage as well."

JOURNEY and TOTO previously joined forces for an early 2022 U.S. arena tour.

JOURNEY is continuing to promote its latest album, "Freedom" , which was released in July via BMG . The LP debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Current Rock chart.

The members of JOURNEY celebrated the album's release by kicking off a residency featuring special symphony orchestra performances at the new, state-of-the-art Resorts World Casino in Las Vegas.

As JOURNEY 's legend continues to grow larger and their touring gets bigger, "Freedom" is the band’s first album of new material to be released in eleven years, since 2011's "Eclipse" , and in addition to Schon , along with longtime keyboard player and primary lyricist Cain and Pineda , one more member was recruited for the LP — bassist extraordinaire Randy Jackson , who had played on JOURNEY 's 1986 album "Raised On Radio" .

Inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2017, JOURNEY has 25 gold and platinum albums, with total sales adding up to over 100 million albums worldwide, earning the band two Diamond Awards with a third on the way for the "Frontiers" album. JOURNEY has also surpassed one billion streams on Spotify .

Kayaking on the Pamlico Sound: A hug from the water

freedom pamlico tour

By TL Grace West

Carl Sagan once said, “Somewhere something incredible is waiting to be known.”

For me, that somewhere is on a kayak in the Pamlico Sound off the shores of Ocracoke.

During the 30 years I’ve been leading kayak tours, each one has been unique.

I name each two-and-a-half-hour tour according to that something incredible that we experienced.

Recently about 10 dolphins graced us with their presence in Silver Lake.

Other kayak trip names include: first diamond back terrapin of the season; the green flash; baby skates, double rainbow; jumping mullet; slick calm; terns feeding; thousands of migrating cormorants; gentle rain.

You get the picture.

Kayaking is easy to learn, comfortable, and needs only six inches of water to glide over.

This means you can explore the island’s creeks and marshes firsthand.

freedom pamlico tour

I always bring a net to scoop through the eel grass to, I jokingly say, “catch lunch.”

Actually, these baby fish, shrimp, crabs and eels are newborns and are tiny.

There is nothing like seeing these fragile new lives to appreciate why it is important to protect our estuaries.

You don’t have to sign up for a tour to enjoy the wonders of kayaking on Pamlico Sound. You can bring your own or rent a kayak for an hour or a week.

It’s relatively safe and you can get basic instructions, directions and safety guidelines — especially about the ferry, boat wakes and the channel — from Ride the Wind Surf Shop (SurfOcracoke.com).

The Coast Guard requires children 12 and under to wear life jackets.

The rest of us just need to have a life jacket on board. Since kayaking in the sound involves paddling in shallow water — less than five feet — it’s safe for kids.

My goddaughter’s 2-year-old, who is afraid to get into water that moves, loved a short kayak ride with her dad.

Kayaking is best on days when the wind is 10 mph or less. Also, check the radar for storms.

When slipping into a kayak I feel like the water is hugging me.

The quiet can’t be beat.

As Wendell Berry says, “For a time you can rest in the peace of the world and be free.”

(Carl Sagan quote from “Think Happy, Be Happy,” Workman Publishing, New York. Wendell Berry poem “Peace of Wild Things,” from “Openings”)

Harris-Walz bus tour promoting reproductive freedom stops in Harrisburg

Harris-Walz campaign's reproductive freedom bus tour stops in Harrisburg

Hadley Duvall, a 22-year-old girl who was raped and impregnated by her stepfather 10 years ago, spoke in support of Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris during a stop in Harrisburg on Wednesday as part of the campaign's reproductive freedom bus tour. She was joined by (from left) Rep. Mary Isaacson, D-Philadelphia; Sandra Thompson of the Black Women for Harris; Rep. Bridget Kosierowski, D-Lackawanna County; Rep. Patty Kim, D-Dauphin County; and Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey. Sept. 18, 2024 Jan Murphy | [email protected] Jan Murphy | [email protected]

A blue bus bearing the words “Fighting for Reproductive Freedom” pulled up behind the Pennsylvania Capitol on Wednesday with a message that access to contraception, in vitro fertilization and abortion care hangs in the balance in this presidential election.

Among the supporters of Democratic nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris, on the campaign bus was 22-year-old Kentuckian Hadley Duvall.

Women's reproductive rights are a big issue in the presidential campaign trail, and the Harris-Walz ticket is trying to get the word out about their stance.

Their "Fighting for Reproductive Freedom" bus tour made a stop in Harrisburg on Wednesday.

The bus is traveling across the country before the November election and visiting battleground states – including Pennsylvania.

Among those on board were state Rep. Patty Kim and Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey.

They were joined by 22-year-old Hadley Duvall, a Kentucky woman who said she was grateful she could make the choice to have an abortion after her stepfather raped her.

"Survivors don't get to choose what state they're violated in. Women don't get to choose what state a pregnancy goes south in," Duvall said.

"Abortion bans, which are in place across too many states around this country. Women right now are being turned away from emergency rooms," Healey said.

Harris-Walz supporters claim former President Donald Trump will impose further abortion bans, while Trump's press secretary said he'll leave decisions to the states.

"President Trump understands this is an important issue for women. That's why he's said he's not going to sign a federal ban on abortion," Karoline Leavitt said.

Trump is returning to Pennsylvania next week.

He'll hold a rally on the campus of Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Monday.

Harris-Walz 'Reproductive Freedom Bus Tour' makes stop in Virginia Beach

A campaign event for Vice President Kamala Harris came to Hampton Roads on Friday morning.

The "Harris-Walz Reproductive Freedom Bus Tour" is making several stops across Virginia this weekend, starting in Virginia Beach. Congressional candidate Missy Cotter Smasal was at the first stop. She's challenging Republican Congresswoman Jen Kiggans for the 2nd District seat.

After the rally in Virginia Beach, the bus is heading to Richmond and Dumfries. The Virginia stops are part of a larger 50-stop tour intended to motivate voters by highlighting differences in reproductive right stances between the Harris-Walz campaign and the Trump-Vance campaign.
