The performance lasts approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes including an interval.
Is there a minimum age requirement to attend the show?
We recommend The Lion King for ages 6+. Children under the age of 3 (including babies in arms) will not be admitted into the theatre. All persons aged 16 or under must be accompanied by an adult and may not sit on their own within the auditorium. All persons entering the theatre, regardless of age, must have a ticket.
Does the performance have any special effects?
The Lion King contains theatrical smoke and fog effects as well as strobe lighting during parts of the show.
Is photography allowed in the theatre?
The use of camera and sound recording equipment is strictly prohibited.
Is official show merchandise available to purchase?
Merchandise is available to purchase before and after the show, and during the interval inside the theatre. Our merchandise kiosks accept payment by card only. If you have a query about merchandise purchased at the venue, please contact [email protected] .

There is no dress code at the theatre. For all performances, attire should be comfortable and appropriate for the occasion.

The Lyceum Theatre is close to several National Rail / London Underground stations, multiple bus stops that are serviced by different routes and there is a self-hire bike docking station directly outside the theatre. Are day seats available?
Magical Mondays offers you the chance to purchase seats for participating Disney Shows for £29.50. Every Monday at noon, a number of tickets for that week’s performances will be available for £29.50, through the Disney Tickets website. These tickets sell quickly - we recommend logging in early. The new UK tour of Disney’s The Lion King will celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary since premiering in London.
Based on the all-time classic animated film, The Lion King is set against the majesty of the Serengeti Plains to the evocative rhythms of Africa. Exploding with glorious colours, stunning effects and enchanting music, it tells the timeless story of Simba and his epic journey to fulfil his destiny as King of the Pridelands.

Director Julie Taymor made Broadway history by becoming the first woman to win the Tony Award® for ’Best Director of a Musical’ for her work on the production, which features incredible staging and puppets.
The Lion King opened in London in October 1999, two years after the original Broadway production, and has been seen by over 95 million people across the world.
The upcoming tour is the second in the UK after the first outing between 2012 and 2015.

Once i have purchased my tickets what happens.
Once you have purchased your tickets online or via Guest Services you will receive a confirmation email. If you have Print at Home tickets, please ensure they’re clearly printed before you arrive at the venue. We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before the performance starts.
When will I receive my tickets?
E-Tickets and Print at Home tickets will be delivered 14 days before the performance. If you have not received your tickets 48 hours prior to the performance please call our Guest Services team on 0800 640 8101.
If you haven't received or have misplaced your tickets on the day of the performance, please go to the box office to collect replacements. Your original tickets will then be voided.
The Lyceum Theatre in London’s Covent Garden is owned and operated by The Ambassador Theatre Group.
Will there be security at the theatre?
Your security is of the utmost importance to us. To make sure your visit is as safe as possible, enhanced security measures are currently in place at the theatre. As a result, it may take longer to get into the building. We therefore recommend you arrive in plenty of time to enable us to conduct bag checks. We strongly advise that you do not bring large bags to the theatre. Cloakroom facilities are available for coats and umbrellas, but we are unable to accept large bags and luggage.

What is the plot of Lion King the Musical?

In July 2023, this acclaimed production will return to Birmingham Hippodrome for a strictly limited season. Set against the majesty of the Serengeti to the evocative rhythms of Africa, THE LION KING tells the story of Simba’s epic journey to fulfil his destiny as King of the Pridelands.
Director Julie Taymor uses breathtaking theatrical magic to bring Disney’s beloved animated feature to life in a production which has thrilled over 110 million people around the world.

Clips of his best-known roles have resurfaced following the announcement of his death aged 93 on Monday, 9 September.
The American actor enjoyed a storied career, receiving three Tony Awards , two Emmys and a Grammy for his work.
His voice will live on; in 2022 he signed off on archival voice recordings to be manipulated for future iterations of Darth Vader with the use of artificial intelligence.
