The Eiffel Tower is an architectural marvel measuring a staggering 300m (ca. 1069ft). Gustave Eiffel built this open-lattice wrought-iron tower in 1889 as an entrance gateway to the Exposition Universelle held in Paris. The piece was meant to celebrate the centenary of the French Revolution. Over the years, the Eiffel Tower has become the absolute symbol of France as well as a global expression of technological excellence, today it’s the most visited landmark worldwide! The Eiffel Tower is located on the Champs de Mars at 5 Avenue Anatole France, within Paris’ 7th arrondissement. Overview and HistoryWelcome to Paris, the City Of Lights, La Ville-Lumiere! We're going to depart from the standard timeline here and just start looking at pictures. You can put the history together in your mind along the way, or live contentedly with an abstract expression of images, whichever you prefer. For lessons in light from the expressionist masters, blur yourself directly to the Orsay Museum and find Monet, Renoir and Cezanne waiting. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. The River Seine divides the city into two halves, called the Left Bank and Right Bank. The right bank is on the north side, left to the south. In general the right bank claims the sophistication and modern development in Paris, while the left bank has the universities, parks and historic areas. There are two islands on the river in the middle of the city, Ile de la Cite and Ile de St. Louis. Here's a beautiful Flower Market on Ile de la City, which is the oldest section of the city. It's also home to Notre Dame cathedralThe Right Bank has a big hill called Montmartre, literally translating to "Mount Mars" or "Mountain of the Martyr", depending on which time period you take the story from. Its name dates back to at least 250A.D and it's home to the Sacre Coeur Basilica among many other things of note, such as the studios of Salvadore Dali, Picasso and Van Gogh. And what else? The Champs-Elysees, of course! The Champs-Elysees is the most prestigious avenue in Paris. L'Arc de Triomph stands at the western end of the Champs-Elysees, at the star shaped intersection of twelve major avenues which is called Place d'Etoil. The Arch is a monument to all who fought for France, especially during the Napoleonic wars.By the way, the sprint finish of the Tour de France -- the most prestigious bicycle race in the world -- comes down the Champs-Elysees. Catch it in the early summer. You may have heard of a museum called Le Louvre. Before you attempt to visit it, go through some tour de france training to build up your stamina. This is a museum big enough to take your whole summer to walk through, and that's without even stopping to look at any of the art.Situated right along the river is the Place de la Concord, the largest open square in the city. It's where Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette and 2,798 of their closest friends met the guillotine during the French Revolution. The smell of blood was so strong, according to the tale, that a herd of cattle refused to cross the square.Let's see what we have on the Left Bank. How about Les Invalides, a stately group of museums and monuments dedicated to military history, which also houses a hospital and residences for veterans. The Left Bank has for decades been the center of academic life in Paris, which can be summed up in a word: La Sorbonne. La Sorbonne is the nickname for the University of Paris, founded in 1257. It sits in a historic scholarly sector called the Latin Quarter, which connects La Sorbonne to the Left Bank (Place Maubert). If Paris was a tropical island, this would be the coral reef.Near La Sorbonne can be found Le Jardin de Luxembourg, where Marie d'Medici's chateau stands. It's a pleasant little country house in Florentine style. They used it for a prison during the French Revolution and for Luftwaffe headquarters during WWII. It now houses the French Senate. Shakespeare and Co Library sits in the heart of the Latin Quarter and has earned an international reputation for being more than just a bookshop.Getting ThereTake a look at the Gare du Nord Paris North Station. One of six large train stations in Paris, it's the busiest one in Europe. If you're already on the continent, you very well may arrive here.As for airports, there are two: Charles De Gualle and Orly. De Gaulle airport is about 25 minutes by train from Gare du Nord station, Orly is a bit closer. Here's the train information for connections to the city.TransportationHere's one of the 380 metro stations in Paris, the Palais-Royale at the Louvre. Looking good! This is Europe's second-largest metro system and it's connected with the buses the commuter rail network to get you around the city.People and CultureBeside the fact that Paris contains all walks of life, "people and culture" in Paris is synonymous with food and wine. Here we are smack in the middle of it, La Contrescarpe at Mouffetard Street.Remember, champagne was perfected here during the Belle Epoque, and you need the proper setting in which to drink it.And check out this fish shop!! This is what the zoom tool was made for!In case you're wondering, there's a gritty side to Paris, too. Here's a little mobile graffiti. In the same vein, by which I mean "cheap" or "free", stroll around Left Bank to the flea market at Place Maubert.Street musicians are another great thing about Paris. Here are some drummers, some visual artists on the Quai de Conti, and there should be an organ grinder on the corner when you get there. Let me know if you see him.Things to do & RecommendationsStreet food -- get a croque monsieur or croque madam, it's a toasted cheese sandwich with or without ham. They're so good, it's the pizza slice of Paris! I can't for the life of me understand why nobody has shot a panorama of one.Street food part 2, and I quote:"the motherfucking best falafel in the world is there in the Marais. it's called La Du's and it's on the Rue de Rosiers. it's the 5th I think, right bank. If you flirt with the take out boys they'll give you more falafel too, I'm not kidding it's a fucking transcendant experience." "there's also this bar in the 11th, called the baron rouge, where on sunday a friend of the owner drives in from normandy with a truck full of oysters and just parks it in front of the bar and sells oysters out the back and you just eat them on the street and drink Muscadet off the top of parked cars." (Thank you Allison O'Leary)Spend a little time outdoors in the beautiful Botanical Garden, see if you can find the recycled dragon. No trip to Paris would ever be complete without... well actually the reason Paris is Paris because you never finish seeing it all.Move there, spend a lifetime there, walk everyplace you go and you still won't see it all. It's like New York, London or Tokyo; anyplace in such a state of constant change will remain eternally elusive.I almost said, "no trip to Paris would be complete without going up the Eiffel Tower and seeing the view from the top."Text by Steve Smith.

The Arc de Triomphe is one of the most iconic landmarks in Paris, and it offers you a spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower from the observation deck . The massive structure stands at the end of the Champs-Élysées, and it is surrounded by 12 radiating avenues.
It was Napoleón who built this famous arc to celebrate his success in the Battle of Austerlitz. But as he was starting the construction of the Arc de Triomphe on his birthday, one could also assume it was actually more of a birthday gift to himself. (If you like anecdotes like that, read my article 35 fascinating Facts about the Arc de Triomphe )
Anyway, you can either climb to the top of the Arc for a panoramic view of the city, or you can simply enjoy the view from below. Because even from street level you see the Eiffel Tower, if you stand behind the Arc!

Book your museums ticket to the Hotel de la Marine here
Hotel de la Marine is one of the newer museums in Paris, and it is well worth a visit. The museum is located on the site of the former royal grounds, and it hosts a great display of 18th-century furniture.
The Hotel de la Marine was home to the French Navy Ministry for years, but it was converted into a museum in 2021. The views from the loggia de Hotel de la Marine are wonderful. You see the Place de la Concorde, with the Eiffel Tower in the backdrop.
If you are short on time, and you are looking for a less time-intensive alternative to the Castle of Versailles , this is certainly the place for you! Plus of course the Eiffel Tower views!

Pont des Arts is one of the most famous bridges in Paris, and it’s easy to see why. The views from the bridge are simply stunning. You can see the top of the Eiffel Tower in all its glory, as well as the Seine winding its way through the city.
Pont des Arts is also a popular spot for an evening apéro by the Seine . Perfect to enjoy a glass of wine or two while watching the sunset over the city.
The Pont des Arts is formerly also known as the Love Lock Bridge, but I advise against adding a lock to the structure. Most locks got removed by now. They are damaging the foundation of the bridge. But the keys that are thrown in the Seine are destroying the ecosystem of the river.
#21 Fun Eiffel Tower views from the Ferris Wheel
If you’re looking for the best place to see the Eiffel Tower at night, there’s no better place than the Ferris wheel at Place de la Concorde. Located at the entrance of the Tuileries garden, the Ferris wheel offers spectacular views of the tower and the cityscape.
It’s a popular seasonal event, so it’s not permanently open. However, you’re lucky to be able to take a ride if you are in Paris during Winter or in Paris for Christmas .

#24 Invalides at Rue de la Grenelle
There are plenty of places to get a good view of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and one that I always find the most unexpected is the perspective from Rue de la Grenelle.
It’s where the massive cannons are decorating the Invalides and the Musée de l’Armée that you get the best view of the Eiffel Tower. It’s most impressive at night, when the tower is lit up with thousands of twinkling lights.
#25 The Best views of the Eiffel Tower? From your Hotel !
All these viewpoints mean nothing if you can get the most exquisite panorama of it all: A Paris hotel with a view of the Eiffel Tower.

It is no secret that the Sacre Cœeur is a brilliant spot to get a wonderful vista on Paris. But did you know that you can even go higher and climb up until the dome of the famous white basilica? It is one of the best places to view the Eiffel Tower
The view is not coming without some effort. It’s 300 steps and no lift, but the reward is priceless: A astounding panoramic view of Paris. You’ll be able to see the Eiffel Tower in all its beauty, as well as much of the rest of the city. It’s definitely worth the effort, especially if you can time your visit for sunset. You’ll never forget the experience of seeing Paris light up as night falls.
#27 The Centre Pompidou Roof Top
The Centre Pompidou is best known as a museum of modern art, but it’s also an excellent spot to see the Eiffel Tower. The rooftop provides gorgeous vistas over Paris and the Eiffel Tower. For an extra special experience, book a table at the Gorges restaurant.
This way, you can enjoy a meal with a view of one of the most iconic landmarks in the world and the beautiful roofs of Paris.
#28 Along rue Saint-Dominque
Rue Saint Dominique is one large viewpoint, and you find many good places along the road to get a good view of the Eiffel Tower. The best part about it is that it’s a nice walk through a Parisian neighborhood from Metro Station Solferino to the Champs de Mars.
Once you’re there, you’ll be surprised by how many cute cafés there are with the Eiffel Tower in the backdrop. So if you’re seeking a good place to take photos, this is definitely the place to go.
And if you’re also searching for a good place to eat, there are plenty of options here as well. Just keep in mind that it’s getting more expensive the closer you get to the Eiffel Tower.
It’s one of the best places to stop by a café with view of the Eiffel Tower, and enjoy your time while sipping a glass of wine.
#29 From Metro line 6
When you take the Metro to the Eiffel Tower, you likely will find yourself in line 6. No matter from which direction you’re coming, make sure you get out of the Metro only AFTER you crossed the Seine. That’s because the view from the train on the Eiffel Tower is just fantastic. You are crossing the Pont Bir-Hakeim, which let alone is one of the places with the best views of the Eiffel Tower.
#30 The Rooftop Terrace at the Galerie Lafayette
The Galerie Lafayette lies right next to the Printemps Department store. But while you need to sit down in a café at Printemps, the rooftop of the Galerie Lafayette is free and has one of the best places to see the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Just head up to the 8th floor and enjoy! And when you’re already there, also take a look at Lafayette Gourmet !
#31 Best Place to see Eiffel Tower at Night: From a Rooftop Bar
Whether you are in enjoying a nice Italian Pizza at Mama Shelter West or fancy an outstanding cocktail in Paris at the sky lounge at the Pullman Montparnasse. A rooftop bar is an incredible place to enjoy the night and the view of the Eiffel Tower.
There are quite a few rooftops bars all over Paris, some are only during summer, and others offer year-round indoor seating.
#32 Passerelle Debilly
Passerelle Debilly is a pedestrian bridge in Paris that crosses the Seine. While it might not be the most exciting bridge in the city, it does have one big claim to fame: the best views of the Eiffel Tower.
Located closest to the tower itself, the Passerelle Debilly offers an unobstructed vista both of the Eiffel Tower and the Trocadero. Even on a gray day, the view from the bridge is stunning. So if you’re looking for a great selfie spot with a view of the Eiffel Tower, look no further than Passerelle Debilly!
Et voilá, the best viewpoints of the Eiffel Tower! I honestly can’t think of any other place that stands out but once in Paris, you see that the Eiffel Tower is a landmark, that you can’t miss. It just sticks out, and mostly when you expect it the least.
Where to find the best views of the Eiffel Tower: The Map!

One of the things I love about living in Paris is the Eiffel Tower. I wouldn’t have predicted that she, the Iron Lady, would become a favored monument, but in this year of uncertainty, seeing her peek over treetops, between buildings, from the bridges along the Seine, and bathing in the warm glow of her night beam have brought a certain comfort. And, of course, the shimmering lights that twinkle after dark every hour, on the hour, for five minutes thrill every time!
These nine places offer outstanding views of the Eiffel Tower. Of course, there are plenty of places in Paris that will offer a glimpse of her, but these nine spots guarantee unforgettable, postcard-perfect views. Seeing the Eiffel Tower when least expected still makes me smile every time. Keep your eyes peeled. She’s watching you!
11 Best Eiffel Tower Views in Paris, France
1. place du trocadero, metro stop: trocadero lines 6 and 9.
Place du Trocadero offers picture-perfect views of the Eiffel Tower . Situated on the north side of the Seine directly across from the Eiffel Tower in Paris’s 16th arrondissement, it is a must-visit location. At Trocadero, there are lovely gardens, fountains, and a large parvis (forecourt) to view and photograph the Eiffel Tower.
One of the most breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower in Paris can be found in the Trocadéro Gardens. Positioned across the Seine River from the iconic landmark, this vantage point offers an unparalleled panoramic spectacle. The tower rises majestically against the Parisian skyline, its intricate lattice structure illuminated against the backdrop of the city lights.
As the sun sets, the tower begins to sparkle, casting a magical glow over the surrounding landscape. From the Trocadéro Gardens, visitors can capture the essence of Paris – a harmonious blend of history, romance, and architectural brilliance – all framed by the timeless silhouette of the Eiffel Tower. Expect a lively atmosphere filled with visitors, vendors, and street dancers.
The Place du Trocadero is home to the Palais de Chaillot, where the City of Architecture and Heritage Museum is located, and the National Marine Museum.
Walk down from Place du Trocadero across the Pont d’Iena (Jena Bridge) and marvel at the sheer grandeur of the Eiffel Tower as you get closer.
2. The Champ De Mars
Metro stops: trocadero line 9; bir-hakeim line 6; ecole militaire line 8.
Enveloping the Eiffel Tower is the lovely greenspace called the Champ de Mars . Named in honor of the Roman god of war, this large space is a gathering place for families and visitors to the city alike. The manicured garden is full of flowering trees and flowers in blossom. Photographing the Eiffel Tower in early spring with cherry blossoms or magnolias in the forefront is a thrill for any photographer!
When the Iron Lady sparkles on the hour each night, the Champ de Mars is full of couples and families taking in the marvelous sight. The Champ de Mars is also a classic romantic spot to take in fireworks, such as on Bastille Day, but be sure to secure your spot with a picnic blanket early in the day.

3. The Bir-Hakeim Bridge
Metro stop: bir-hakeim line 6.
Since we are already close to the Eiffel Tower, wander a little further down the Seine to the Pont de Bir-Hakeim. This stunning bridge is another classic spot in Paris to get your postcard-perfect photos of the Eiffel Tower.
Stand on the pedestrian level of the bridge, or take the stairs down to Ile Aux Cygnes, where there are also plenty of sightings of the Eiffel Tower. For a truly unique view of the Eiffel Tower, ride Metro Line 6 across the Bir-Hakeim Bridge and catch a glimpse of the Iron Lady.

4. Pont Alexandre III
Metro stop: franklin d. roosevelt lines 1, 8 and 13.
One of the most romantic spots to view the Eiffel Tower is from Pont Alexandre III. This ornate bridge built for the World Fair and named after the Russian Tzar, offers a beautiful view of the tower in the distance. It’s especially stunning at night to watch the Eiffel Tower sparkle.
5. A Seine River Cruise
Experiencing a cruise on the Seine is a highlight of any trip to Paris. You will have to decide if you prefer to take the cruise during the day or in the evening. There are plenty of cruises, ranging from hop-on-and-hop-off, dinner cruises, champagne cruises, and even speedboat cruises. This article on Seine River cruises will help you make your decision on which line to take.
Whatever cruise you decide upon, seeing the Eiffel Tower soaring as you pass by on the Seine is an absolute thrill.
6. The Montparnasse Tower Observation Deck
Metro stop: montparnasse-bienvenue lines 4, 6, 12, and 13.
The panorama of Paris, including the Eiffel Tower and Paris’s impressive historic monuments, from the Montparnasse Tower is unforgettable. Take Europe’s fastest elevator 658 feet up to the 56th floor and soak in the view. The Eiffel Tower, Sacre-Coeur, and Les Invalides are laid out before you. There is also an open-air panoramic terrace above the 56th floor. Order a glass of champagne with your evening view of the sparkling Iron Lady. Another date with the Eiffel Tower that you won’t soon forget!
7. On Rue Saint-Dominique
Metro stop: la-tour-maubourg line 8.
Walking up Rue Saint-Dominique in the residential area of the 7th arrondissement, there are surprising views of the Eiffel Tower. The best viewing spot is near the corner of Rue Saint-Dominique and Boulevard de la Tour-Maubourg. But the entire street is a thrill, as the Eiffel Tower peeks out from between cafes , bookstores, and is standing right before you at the end of the street! Take your time and browse the boutiques or stop at a cafe. It’s a fun street to explore.
If you are looking for a real market street experience, Rue Saint-Dominique crosses Rue Cler, a classic narrow street where the market shops filled with fresh produce, fish, cheese, and all the gastronomic delights of France spill into the streets. Oysters included!
8. From Avenue De Camoens
Metro stop: passy or trocadero line 6.
It took me a while to discover this hidden Paris gem to see and photograph the Eiffel Tower. It is a quiet, short, dead-end street. But that dead end? It stops at a gorgeous balcony with a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower. When I visited in the morning, there were few people, but choose your time wisely as it is a popular spot, especially for Instagrammers!
Be persistent. It can be a bit tricky to find. If you are on Boulevard Delessert, climb the stone staircase and you’ll arrive at the balcony.
9. Le Printemps Haussmann
Metro stop: havre-caumartin line 3.
Le Printemps Haussmann , one of the oldest department stores in Paris, has a fantastic 360-degree panoramic view of Paris. The department store is a high-end shopping experience behind a facade that is a designated historical monument and includes a brasserie under a stunning glass dome. You will definitely want to plan on perusing the various floors. Head to the 8th floor for stunning views of Paris and the Eiffel Tower.
The little secret at Printemps is that if you cross the street to Printemps L’Homme (the men’s store), there is another terrace that has the best views!
Find a spot to take the classic photos, or better still, take a seat at the Parisian restaurant , La Perruche, and relax while taking in the scenery. You might have to pinch yourself!
10. Arc De Triomphe De L’Etoile
Metro stop: charles de gaulle-etoile lines 1, 2, and 6.
If you are visiting Paris for the first time, chances are that the Arc de Triomphe, one of the most famous monuments in Paris, is on your list of places to see. The purpose of the Arc de Triomphe (Triumphal Arch), built on Napoleon’s demand, is to honour the memory of the victories of the French Army. The tomb of the unknown soldier lies at the base of the Arc de Triomphe. Its eternal flame is rekindled each evening, and new wreaths are laid by veterans. Take time to view this amazing monument, and then decide whether to climb all 284 stairs to the top or take the elevator to the mid-level and climb the remaining 64 steps! You will also have to decide whether to visit during the day or in the evening when the lights of Paris are aglow. As you can see, there are a lot of things to do in Paris .
The view of the Eiffel Tower is stellar — and also the sight down the Champs Elysees straight to the Place de la Concorde and beyond, to the Louvre. Another not-to-be-missed experience in Paris.
11. Rue de L’Université
Metro stop: alma – marceau lines 8, 9 and 13.
Rue de L’Université is a well-known cobbled street in the 7th arrondissement with typical Haussmann architecture which perfectly frames the Eiffel Tower view. Because the street is very close to Champ de Mars, where the Eiffel Tower is located, the tower will appear grand in your photos.
To find this exact location, you’ll come across a dead-end on Rue de L’Université and Avenue de la Bourdonnais. Enter at this point, and you will see the Eiffel Tower is in clear sight.
The walk to Rue de l’Universite can also be combined with a visit to a small gated private garden located very close to the end of Square Rapp. From here you get the best view of the Eiffel Tower.
Pro Tips: Be aware of your belongings in the most crowded places, such as Place du Trocadero, for pickpockets. Also, don’t rush. Each of these nine places will take some time to discover and explore.

Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots
There is nothing more iconic than the Paris Eiffel Tower. I just love how the Eiffel Tower can pop up between streets, offering the prettiest views when walking around Paris. I rounded up the top-secret places where to get the best Eiffel Tower Photo. These are the top Eiffel Tower photo spots that you’ll want from your trip.
You can catch these photos and more on my Instagram here !
Where is the Eiffel Tower?
Before I get into the secret locations, I wanted to lay out the land where the Eiffel tower is. The Eiffel Tower is located in the 7th arrondissement in Paris in the southwestern part of the city. While Champ de Mars, the surrounding park area, on a map might look small, in reality, the park grounds are huge.
This is something to keep in mind when walking around because you will be in for a bit of a walk! However, you can see all of these locations in just one day if you take some breaks, and stop for some delicious French pastries.
I have included a map of the Paris photo locations at the bottom of this post for easy reference.
Book Eiffel Tower Activities:
1. Rue St. Dominique
Rue St. Dominique is a residential street in the 7th arrondissement that offers the most incredible view of the Eiffel tower. The best viewing spot is on Rue St. Dominique and Boulevard de la Tour-Maubourg, however, you’ll catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower throughout the whole street.
This area is known for its shopping boutiques, cozy restaurants, and cafes, and is a nice local area to stay in while in Paris.
Where to Stay in Paris:
Le Narcisse Blanc: An elegant Parisian hotel located on Boulevard de la Tour-Maubourg. In under a minute you can walk to this iconic corner to catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower. Check out my full review of Le Narcisse Blanc here.
2. Rue de l’ Université
Probably my favorite location to see the Eiffel Tower is Rue de’l Université . This quaint street is ideal because it has such a Parisian charm with the cobblestone streets and beautiful architecture. And because this is very close to Champ de Mars, the surrounding park where the Eiffel Tower is located, the tower will appear grand in your photos.
To find this exact location, you’ll come across a dead-end on Rue de Universite and Avenue de la Bourdonnais. Enter at this point, and you will find the Eiffel Tower is in clear sight.
Tip: Cars do park on this street, so there might be some in your photo! When we arrived there were no cars, but seconds after a car pulled up and parked. We were lucky but a little too late.
3. Square Rapp
Square Rapp is a tiny dead-end right off Avenue Rapp that offers a secret view of the Eiffel Tower. Because it is lesser-known, you won’t find many people taking photos here. It is located in a residential part of Paris, so just be respectful to the surrounding area.
Bonus: If you walk further down this dead-end street, you’ll find a quaint little garden. It is private property, but charming to look at.
4. Avenue de Camoens
You have probably seen photos of this location before, but Avenue de Camoens is a quiet street just a short walk from Trocadero. What makes this location extra special is it’s located on a dead-end street with a gorgeous balcony overlooking the Eiffel Tower.
It’s a popular location amongst other people trying to take photos. Even when I was there, a couple of people were taking photos. But you really can’t beat these views!
To avoid any crowds, just head here in the morning.
How to get to Avenue de Camoens : Because it’s located at a higher level than the street below, be on the lookout for a staircase on Boulevard Delessert.
5. Trocadero
This is the least secret place on the list, but it is the ultimate place to get the best photos of the Eiffel Tower. In fact, I would recommend coming here at different times of the day (if you can) to have different types of lighting in your photos.
A gorgeous time to take photos would be during sunrise, as the sun comes up from the perfect angle. And bonus: sunrise is the least crowded time of the day so you won’t have as many people in your shot.
What I love about this location are the many different angles you can take photos from. Some popular angles include:
- The Main Square
- The Staircase
- The Carousel located near the street level on Avenue des Nations Unies
Just a note: this location is extremely popular with tourists and locals alike so it’s an easy target for pickpockets. Just be aware of all your belongings, and wear your backpack or bag in front of your body in this location.
6. Pont d’Iéna
Head down from Trocadero to Pont d’léna, which is a bridge that connects you closer to the Eiffel Tower. You can get a better view of the Eiffel tower from right underneath it. To make the photo even more dramatic, head to this location around sunset. You’ll be able to see the Eiffel tower sparkle!
7. Seine River
Overlooking the Seine just near Trocadero, you’ll find unobstructed views of the Eiffel Tower. Check the map below to see the exact street I found at this location. The best part, anywhere along the Seine near Trocadero you can find this view, so you don’t have to come to this exact location.
I particularly love this angle because it’s such a relaxing part of Paris overlooking the water.
Book 1-hour Seine River Cruise
8. Bir Hakeim Bridge
I also have included the Bir Hakeim Bridge in my Top Paris Instagram Posts , but this bridge is a perfect place to capture the views. This bridge crosses over the Seine river and connects the 15th and 16th arrondissements.
Bir Hakeim, formerly known as Pont de Passy, opened in 1905 and still has beautiful timeless architecture. I love how the bridge posts frame the Eiffel Tower in the background! A must-do in Paris for a photo.
Note: This is an active bridge with cars, bikes, and pedestrians so just look both ways when you are taking photos.
9. Montparnasse Tower
To get the most epic views of the Eiffel Tower and the entire city of Paris, head to the Montparnasse Tower. This observation deck 200 meters above Paris needs to be on your list of things to do in Paris.
It is open 7 days a week from 10 am until 10:30 pm with tickets starting at 18 Euro per adult. It is best to get your tickets in advance to avoid any crowds!

Eiffel Tower photography tips
Go at the right time
Plan to go early in the evening for a sunrise Eiffel Tower photo shoot or late in the evening for the sunset shoot.
You’ll get magnificent photos while still beating the crowds as most of these places receive very few people at those times.
Plan to walk a lot so wear comfortable shoes
Since most of the Eiffel Tower photo spots are not far from each other, the best way is to plan to see them on the same day especially if you just have a few days in Paris.
This means that you’ll walk a lot and the best way not to get worn out easily is by wearing comfortable walking shoes.
Pack the right essentials for the day
If the idea is to be outside for a number of hours, you’re better off carrying your day’s essentials. Below are a few things you should take with you.
- Extra batteries and memory card: These memory cards will work well since you’ll be taking lots of pictures.
- Re-usable Collapsible water bottle: Paris has a number of drinking water fountains so it’s better to take this reusable collapsible water bottle that you can just keep refilling instead of buying bottled water.
- A Power bank: If you plan to use your phone for some photos, your battery will run so take this portable power bank to stay connected all the time.
- Phone: Duh! There is no way you can forget it
- Anti-theft backpack: You’ll need such an anti-theft daypack to keep all your day’s travel items and since pickpockets are common, especially in crowded places, be sure that you can see it at all times. Also, do not randomly place it or any of your travel items on the ground without anyone watching them.

Now that you know some of the Eiffel Tower photography tips, let’s look at the best Eiffel Tower photo spots not to miss.
The Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots
Read on to find out the best places for Eiffel Tower photos.
1. Trocadéro square
This is probably the most famous spot to go for an Eiffel Tower photo shoot and one of my favorite places actually. And since it is directly opposite the Eiffel Tower and a little bit raised, you’re bound to get the best view of the Eiffel Tower.
However, since it’s a popular Eiffel Tower Photo Spot, you can expect to find huge crowds and the best way to beat them is by either going early in the morning for a sunrise Eiffel Tower photo shoot or late in the evening at sunset.
At that time, the crowds will be fewer and you get to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower at the most beautiful times of the day.
And a big plus about the Trocadéro is that you get to take photos of the Eiffel Tower from various angles and spots with the notable ones being the Staircase , the main Trocadéro square which creates a beautiful reflection if you visit at the right time, the Fountain of Warsaw which creates a magnificent backdrop of the Eiffel tower photos and not forgetting the Beautiful Trocadéro gardens which brings out the beautiful contrasting greenery in the Eiffel tower pic.
With all those features, it’s not hard to see why the Trocadéro is one of the most famous and best Eiffel Tower photo spots as you can get a variety of beautiful pictures of the Eiffel tower from just one spot.

2. Champs De Mars
Want to get up close Eiffel Tower pictures, then head to Champs de Mars ! It is a beautiful garden right next to the Eiffel Tower.
It might seem a bit small but it’s actually quite big and you can take Eiffel Tower photos from various angles. This spot is particularly more beautiful if you visit during springtime as it offers some of the best cherry blossoms in Paris.
Imagine a photo of the Eiffel Tower with beautiful pink flowers in it – it can’t get any prettier than this! Spring is actually my favorite season to photograph the Eiffel Tower at Champs de Mars.
However, even if you can’t visit Paris in springtime , any time of the year is a great time to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower.
And if you want to even take it a notch higher and get some of the best pictures of the Eiffel Tower, you can plan a picnic right at the footsteps of the Iron Lady at this gorgeous park.

3. Rue de l’Université
If you’re standing in front of the Eiffel Tower with the Champs de Mars behind you, just head left and you’ll find this popular Eiffel Tower photo spot, Rue de l’Université .
It’s one of the popular Instagram spots in Paris so you can be sure to find people here, and if it’s not that, you’ll find cars parked so you’ll just have to find a way to take pics of the Eiffel Tower at the right moment to miss the cars or the people.
What makes this street popular and beautiful is that you get incredible views of the Eiffel Tower, together with a cobblestoned street and the typical Parisian architecture in one photo.
In my opinion, it’s the perfect place to get the best pictures of the Eiffel Tower. However, be sure to go to the exact spot as this street is quite big (the 10th longest in Paris to be exact), so if you’re not keen enough, you might end up in the wrong spot.
So to make sure that you go to the Eiffel Tower photoshoot spot, I’ve included an interactive map in this post; you just need to click on it and you’ll know where exactly to go.

One of the beautiful Eiffel Tower Photo spots is the Passerelle Debilly ! This bridge that connects pedestrians from one side of the Seine to the other – from Quai de New York to the Quai Branly is the perfect spot if you want to take Eiffel Tower pictures with the Seine River in them.
With the Eiffel Tower, the Seine, the love locks, and the bridge in one frame, you’re guaranteed to have a spectacular Eiffel Tower pic.

5. Square Rapp
If you love taking street photos of the Eiffel Tower, then you’ll love Square Rapp . It is a hidden gem off Avenue Rapp in the 7th arrondissement of Paris.
The square overlooks the Eiffel Tower and various Haussmannian architecture-style buildings creating a beautiful Parisian charm and a one-of-a-kind Eiffel Tower photo op.
And, unlike other Eiffel Tower photo spots, Square Rapp is still unknown to many or others just ignore it, which means that you can take countless photos and take in this Eiffel Tower street view without the crowds.
And while in this spot, don’t just stop at taking pics of the Eiffel Tower, take some time to walk down the entire Avenue Rapp and you’ll be treated to secret but beautiful places in Paris you didn’t think existed right in the heart of the capital; like the Lavirotte Building and its controversial doorway known as the “door of Avenue Rapp” and other Haussmann buildings.
This to me is the best street for Eiffel Tower photos!

6. Montparnasse Tower
Sometimes capturing the Eiffel Tower means going to one of the tallest buildings in Paris and Montparnasse Tower is the perfect spot.
With it being directly opposite the Eiffel Tower, you get unobstructed views which means that the Eiffel Tower pics will come out perfectly well with the iron lady protruding through Paris’ rooftops.
You can go to Montparnasse Tower at any time but in my opinion, the best time to go is at sunset to be able to capture the iron lady with the backdrop of a beautiful sunset.
Unlike other Eiffel Tower photo spots, you’ll need to pay to access the Montparnasse Tower rooftop but the stunning Eiffel Tower views you get are worth the price.
And to make sure that you skip the Paris long lines at Montparnasse Tower, grab yourself this skip-the-line entry ticket .
7. Rue St. Dominique
Famous for being one of the best shopping streets in Paris , Rue St. Dominique in the 7th arrondissement also never disappoints when it comes to being a perfect Eiffel Tower photo shoot spot.
With the view of the Eiffel Tower “embroidered” right in the middle of the street with various cafes and partisan buildings beside it, you can be sure you’ll get the perfect Eiffel Tower street photo.
And when you finish capturing that perfect Eiffel Tower photo, don’t be in a rush to leave yet as there are lots of things to do on this charming street.
From indulging yourself with famous Parisian pastries from the many bakeries, eating your heart out at the cute cafes in the area, or shopping until you drop from the many stores.
Regardless of what fills your heart, you’ll find something to do while on your Eiffel Tower photography journey in the area.
8. Seine River
From all the Eiffel Tower photo spots mentioned here, I think the Seine River is the best. I know I keep saying that at almost every spot but there is something about the Seine that brings out the magic and beauty of the Eiffel Tower.
Actually, there is not one specific spot to take photos of the Eiffel Tower from the Seine but rather a variety. So all you have to do is look for a place along the Seine but also near the Trocadero and you’ll be able to capture the Iron Lady clearly.
Other spots at the Seine you can go to photograph the Eiffel Tower include; Pont Alexandre III , Pont Neuf , or even on a Seine River cruise.
The big plus about taking the river cruise is that you’ll get to see the Eiffel Tower from different angles hence taking various photos.
You can take pics of the Eiffel Tower from the Seine at any time but I recommend going at night as you’ll be able to capture the Eiffel Tower with the reflection of the shimmering lights on the water which creates such a magical sight and photo op.
Pro tip* If you choose to go for a Seine cruise, I recommend taking this one if you prefer a day-time cruise but if you prefer photographing the Eiffel Tower as it shimmers at the top of the hour, I recommend taking this Seine river dinner cruise for an absolutely great time.
9. Pont de Bir Hakeim
Another bridge in Paris where you can take stunning photos of the Eiffel Tower is the Pont de Bir Hakeim . The bridge crosses the Seine connecting the 15th and 16th arrondissements .
Its prime location opposite the tower and its design with the steel columns next to it and lanterns in between make for a perfect photo spot of the Eiffel Tower.
While it’s not an incredibly busy bridge like some others, it’s an actual operational bridge with cars and pedestrians.
So while taking that perfectly framed Eiffel Tower pic, be on the lookout not to cause an accident! Being one of the best Eiffel Tower photoshoot ideas, it’s not uncommon to find wedding shoots going on here.
10. Pont d’Iéna
Probably the most famous spot to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower at night or even at sunset. With just a few steps from the Trocadéro, Pont De’lena is the easiest way to connect to the Eiffel Tower from both sides of the Seine – the left and right banks.
At this spot, you’ll literally look like you’re taking photos from under the Eiffel Tower which is quite a unique shot compared to ones taken from other places — something that makes Pont De’lena a really special Eiffel Tower photo spot.

If you’re looking for hidden or less crowded Eiffel Tower photo spots, then look no further than Avenue de Camoens in the 16th Arrondissement.
Since it is located at the top of a staircase, not so many people know about it which means that you’ll be able to take countless photos of the Eiffel Tower without feeling like you’re “hogging” the place.
With the staircase and beautiful Parisian buildings in the background, this place makes for a perfect Eiffel Tower photoshoot spot.
12. Rue de Monttessuy
If you’re like me who can’t get enough of street photos of the Eiffel Tower, then add Rue de Monttessuy in the 7th arrondissement to your Parisian bucket list .
Unlike other places that give that old Parisian charm, this spot has some newer buildings so it will be nice to have a little bit of contrast between the Eiffel Tower and the newer angle of Paris.
13. Galeries Lafayette Rooftop
Another place to take a stunning photo of the Eiffel Tower in Paris is the Galeries Lafayette Rooftop . This Parisian department store may be famous for shopping since it houses luxurious brands but its terrace offers stunning views of the Eiffel Tower.
Unlike other Eiffel Tower photo spots on this list, from here, you can see other popular attractions like the Paris Opera and not forgetting the stunning Paris roofs.
14. Arc de Triomphe observation deck is one of the Eiffel Tower Best Photo Spots
One of my all-time favorite spots to take photos of the Eiffel Tower is the Observation deck of the Arc de Triomphe !
What makes this spot perfect is that it’s not too high so you get to see everything clearly instead of seeing small items below. Besides the view of the Eiffel Tower, you also get to see how 12 roads diverge from the Arc.
Stunning and beautiful, this is one of the best places to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower.
However, since you need to climb the Arc, you’ll need to buy this skip-the-line ticket to avoid wasting time in queues.
15. From The Top Of Sacré Coeur
Being on the highest place in Paris, Sacré Coeur offers an opportunity to photograph the Eiffel Tower without any obstructions.
From here, you get a stunning view of the entire city too! I recommend going there at sunset to see the entire city covered in beautiful yellow-orange-hued colors.
You should note that you’ll need to climb the 300 steps here as there is no elevator and you’ll pay a small fee to climb to the dome even though visiting the church itself is free.
16. From Pont Alexandre III
Pont Alexandre III is my favorite bridge in Paris! Besides being beautifully made with golden statues and street lamps, it’s one of the places to take the best photos of Eiffel Tower.
With the beautiful bridge, the Seine, and the Iron Lady in one frame, this is truly one of the best Eiffel Tower picture ideas.
17. From Various Paris Hotels
While this may not be for everyone since hotels with Eiffel Tower views come with a huge price tag but if budget is not a problem, you may consider staying at one of those hotels.
Some of the hotels to stay at to be able to take stunning photos of the Eiffel Tower include; Shangri-La Paris hotel in the 16th Arrondissement, Hôtel Eiffel Petit Louvre in the 15th, Hotel Le Meurice in the 1st Arrondissement, and many others.
18. From Pont Neuf
Pont Neuf is not only one of the beautiful bridges of Paris but also the best spot to take Eiffel Tower pictures.
While you can go any time, I recommend going at sunset to enjoy a colorful and beautiful sunset with the Eiffel Tower and another bridge in the background!
19. From île aux Cygnes
Many people may not know this but Paris has 3 islands! The 2 natural ones, île Saint-Louis and île de la Cité , and the artificial one called île aux Cygnes in the 15th arrondissement which we’re talking about now.
île aux Cygnes is famous for having the most famous and biggest replica of the Statue of Liberty in Paris but besides this, it’s also one of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots.
Unlike other places we’ve looked at before, this one is a little bit less known for those looking for Paris hidden gems .
20. From Rue Le Tasse
Still looking for where to take the best pictures of the Eiffel Tower? Then head to Rue Le Tasse .
While most people flock to Rue de l’Université making it packed almost all the time, one street that equally gives the same Eiffel Tower photo opportunities is Rue Le Tasse in the 16th arrondissement.
So if you’re looking for Eiffel Tower photo ideas where you won’t “fight” for a spot with other Instagrammers, check this one out.

Home » See & Do » 21 Places To Go For The Best Eiffel Tower Views (Plus Map)
Are you traveling to Paris and want to find the best Eiffel Tower views to snap album-worthy photos? Here’s a guide to the best views of the Eiffel Tower from across the city.
The Eiffel Tower is, hands-down, Paris’ most famous landmark since millions of travelers visit it every year.
Little did Gustave Eiffel know he designed what would be the most photographed landmark in the world.
So, if you’re planning your trip to Paris and want some advice on where to go for incredible views of the Eiffel Tower, keep reading this article. After all, one of the best things to do in Paris is to photograph the Eiffel Tower until iCloud is full. LOL.
At the bottom, you will find a map with the exact locations mentioned here.
21 Best Eiffel Tower Views
1. seine cruise.
Take a Seine River cruise to see the city from a unique angle and see some of Paris’ major sights along the way, including the Eiffel Tower!
We took a laid-back Seine River cruise in the summer, and we highly recommend it! It’s an incredible experience!
While on the cruise, you will see many of Paris’s iconic sights, including the Notre Dame, Conciergerie, Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, and more.
You’ll also be able to get a close-up and unobstructed view of the Tower while enjoying the refreshing air from the river.
You may go on this afternoon’s Seine cruise, but if you want to have the best views of the Eiffel Tower while it glitters for 5 minutes at the top of the hour, we recommend going on this evening’s dinner cruise ! It’s a genuinely fantastic sight to see.
Book your Seine Cruise
2. Your Hotel
Many Paris hotels offer rooms with Eiffel Tower views , and here are a few of them:
- Hotel San Regis – this beautiful 5-star hotel is set in a 19th-century mansion. Its convenient location and amenities make it a great place to stay (and wake up with beautiful views of the Eiffel Tower from your private terrace).
- Shangri-La Hotel Paris – this luxury hotel offers delightful views of the Eiffel Tower and the Parisian rooftops from a few of its rooms and its rooftop terrace.
- Hotel Plaza Athenee – this Parisian Haussman-style building on Avenue Montaigne offers views of the Eiffel Tower from their private balcony. Also, Champs Elysees is just a short walk away.
3. Arc de Triomphe
The iconic triumphal arch commemorating Napoleon’s victories offers by far one of the best Eiffel Tower views in all of Paris.
Book your ticket ahead of time and climb to the top of the Arc de Triomphe. From there, you will have the pleasure of seeing the Eiffel Tower, Place de la Concorde, Champs-Elysées, and the busy roads surrounding this iconic monument.
Arc de Triomphe offers one of the best views of Paris, for sure!
4. Pompidou Center
From the top of the Pompidou Center, you can have a picture-perfect spot to photograph the gray-hued rooftops and the Eiffel Tower in the background.
It’s a typical Parisian photo you would see on Google.
Some other attractions you can see from here are Les Invalides with its golden dome, Sacre Coeur, and Notre Dame Cathedral.
5. Rooftop Bars and Restaurants
I don’t know about you, but we are crazy about rooftop venues, and thankfully, Paris is sprinkled with many rooftop bars and restaurants from where you can take in the skyline.
And it turns out that many of these places offer direct views of the Eiffel Tower!
Can you imagine having brunch or dinner or sipping your favorite beverage with amazing views of the Eiffel Tower? You won’t want to get back to your hotel. (But if that’s the case, you can always stay in a hotel with an Eiffel Tower view .)
Here are a couple of Parisian rooftops that provide the best Eiffel Tower views:
- Le Perchoir – Le Perchoir, which translates to “The Birds Perch,” is a rooftop bar that got its name for a reason: it boasts a breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view of Paris and the Eiffel Tower.
- Mun – The Mun rooftop restaurants offer the best views of the Eiffel Tower with breathtaking, stunning views of Paris.
6. Montparnasse Tower
You will want to head over to the Montparnasse Tower in the 15th arrondissement for the best Eiffel Tower views.
The reason why this spot is a must-see is because you can see the tower from the 56th floor—a whopping 689-foot building.
By buying the entrance ticket , you get access to the last floor, where you can sip some drinks while enjoying the rooftop views of the Eiffel Tower. It’s 100% worth the trip, especially if you have a telephoto lens.
To get access to one of the tallest buildings in Paris, you need an entrance ticket, which you can buy online on this site . To prevent crowds, get your tickets early!
7. Quai Branly Museum
If you want to witness beautiful views of the Eiffel Tower from various viewpoints, the Quai Branly Museum should be at the top of your list.
The Eiffel Tower may be seen from many standpoints from the Quai Branly Museum, including the museum park, the museum restaurant, Les Ombres, and Café Branly on the museum’s ground floor.
8. Champ-de-Mars
Champ de Mars should be on top of your list of places to visit for the unparalleled views of the Eiffel Tower!
Grab a baguette, some cheese, and a bottle of wine to enjoy on a picnic at the Champ de Mars, one of the most beautiful parks in Paris .
It is a popular spot among locals who come to this 60-acre park to eat, chill out, admire the sunset, and take in the incredible views of the Eiffel Tower, of course.
You’ll see flowerbeds, ponds, and even a children’s playground as you go through the park. This is the ideal spot to unwind while admiring the scenery.
You must travel to the rear of the park if you want to capture the whole tower, though. The ideal location is beside the Statue du Maréchal Joseph Joffre. It’s within a few minutes’ walk from the École Militaire metro station, making it quite accessible.
We recommend staying after dark to witness the Eiffel Tower glimmer; it occurs every hour on the hour for roughly 5 minutes.
The good news is that if you angle your camera up, you can capture a photo with no people in it, even though it is usually crowded around sunset.
9. Trocadero
Together with Champs de Mars, the Trocadero is probably one of the best places to see the Eiffel Tower up close.
Here, you can stroll around while taking in the beautiful views of the Eiffel Tower and surrounding gardens.
Besides, you have probably seen at least a few photos of people on the stairs opposite the Eiffel Tower.
It is a truly stunning place which also means it gets jam-packed with tourists, so make sure to get here early in the morning if you want to have the place for yourself. We always say it: the early bird catches the worm.

10. Pont De Bir-Hakeim
Bir-Hakeim bridge is one of the most iconic bridges in Paris because it arguably offers the best views of the Eiffel Tower.
Built in the early 20th century, Pont de Bir-Hakeim connects the 15th and 16th arrondissements, and it has two levels—one for vehicles and pedestrians and the other for the metro.
So in a way, you can also have the best Eiffel Tower views from the metro Line 6. Just saying.
To give you an idea of how beautiful this spot is, Inception, one of the movies set in Paris , featured this bridge due to the stunning Eiffel Tower views one can see. Take your time to stroll around and find the best photo spots!
11. Notre Dame Dome
One of the best places to admire the iron lady and take stunning photographs is on top of the Notre Dame Cathedral tower, which can be reached by climbing 378 steps.
The city and Eiffel Tower views are breathtaking from there. Be sure to bring your camera along because it is a photo worth taking!
12. From Under the Tower
Obviously, getting up close and personal with the Eiffel Tower is one of the best ways to fully appreciate its architecture and magnificence.
Try different angles while under the Iron Lady for some unique viewpoints.
We recommend visiting the Eiffel Tower one hour before sunset to get day views and then also capture it at night.
If you want to climb the tower, be sure to buy your ticket well in advance ; the last time slots are always the busiest.
13. Pont Alexandre III
With some of the best views of the Eiffel Tower, Pont Alexandre III is located in the perfect spot to frame the tower, the Seine, and the Parisian rooftops.
From here, you have a picture-perfect and unobstructed view of the Eiffel Tower while taking in the Seine’s beauty. What’s not to love?
Pont Alexandre III is considered the prettiest bridge in the city because of its architecture: many statues, classical lamps, and ornate design.
Also, this bridge has been featured in many movies and series set in Paris, including Emily in Paris.
In short, this place offers not only an incredible view of the Eiffel Tower but also some of the most-wanted movie locations in the city.
14. Sacre Cœur Dome
The Sacré Coeur, commonly known as the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris, is tucked away at the top of the hill in lovely Montmartre and offers exceptionally stunning views of the Eiffel Tower and the city.
If the 300 stairs to the dome are not a problem for you, prepare for the climb and be ready to take in the landscape.
From there, you can easily see the Iron Lady reaching far into the Parisian sky, distinguishing itself from the other structures.
Spend some time inside this Parisian church as well, admiring its architecture to make the most of your visit after taking in the views.
15. Panthéon Dome
The Paris Pantheon, situated in the 5th arrondissement, Latin Quarter, is another place to go for the best Eiffel Tower views.
Climb to the Dome Viewing Platform, and you will be granted with incredible views of the Eiffel Tower, Les Invalides dome, Saint Sulpice Church, and countless Parisian rooftops.
16. Galeries Lafayette Haussmann
Galeries Lafayette is not only one of the best rooftops in Paris, but it also is one of the best photo spots.
From here, you can take in the gray-hued Parisian skyline and, obviously, have the best views of the Eiffel Tower, too.
Because it is free, Galeries Lafayette is considered one of the best places to see the Eiffel Towers.
So take your time while here and allow yourself to appreciate the view. It’s beautiful!
17. Rue de L’Université
We were positively surprised when we walked passed this Parisian street and saw the Eiffel Tower towering above us.
It’s a beautiful perspective of the tower: it rises from behind lush green trees, backed by a blue sky (if you’re lucky, of course), and is surrounded by typical French architecture.
For us, the view from Rue de L’Université is hands-down one of the most beautiful Eiffel Tower views because here you can take a photo with a view of the cobblestoned street, stunning buildings, and the Eiffel Tower in the background.
And since it is so near to the Champ de Mars, the surrounding park where the Eiffel Tower is situated, the tower will look magnificent in your photographs.
18. Rue Saint-Dominique (near The Recrutement)
Located in the chic and elegant 7th arrondissement, Rue Saint-Dominique offers one of the most beautiful views of the Eiffel Tower.
This area is known for its retail shops, charming restaurants, and Parisian cafés , and it’s an excellent place to stay in Paris .
This street begins at Champs de Mars and is a little over a mile long, so you can grab your camera and start taking pictures from further away while making your way to the tower—it’s one of the best Eiffel Tower street views.
It is an excellent way to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower from different perspectives and get to know a new arrondissement. Also, you can always stop for a cup of coffee, right?
19. Passerelle Debilly
Passerelle Debilly is an arched footbridge across the Seine.
The bridge, which was built in 1900, is “decorated” with love locks strung by couples from all over the world as a declaration of their eternal love—even though this is highly discouraged and even forbidden.
Anyway, this pedestrian bridge offers uninterrupted views of the Eiffel Tower, the Seine, and the other beautiful bridges. If you’re lucky, you can snap a photo when a Seine cruise is passing by.
20. Square Rapp
Square Rapp is a small dead end off Avenue Rapp that provides a hidden but beautiful Eiffel Tower view.
Since it is less well-known, there aren’t many people taking photographs here.
Still, be mindful of your surroundings as it is located in a residential section of the 7th arrondissement.
A beautiful, tiny garden may be found farther down this dead-end street, but it is private property, so no trespassing.
21. Avenue de Camoens
Avenue de Camoens is a well-kept secret just across the corner from Trocadéro in the 16th arrondissement. You’ve most likely seen images of this prime location.
Still, Avenue de Camoens is a quiet street only a short walk from the Trocadero. This spot is highly exceptional since it is on a dead-end street with a beautiful balcony overlooking the Eiffel Tower.
It’s a popular photo spot for other people seeking perfect Eiffel Tower snaps. To avoid crowds, we suggest coming early in the morning.

The best Eiffel Tower Photo spots
1 – trocadéro.
I admit, it’s not so secret anymore but it’s the best place to get the Eiffel Tower views. I like finding unique angles of this square, especially since it is kinda difficult to shoot here in winter.

2 – Rue de l’Université
This quaint street is ideal for viewing the Eiffel Tower and taking some photos in a very popular instagram spot.
You’ll meet a dead end on Rue de l’Universite and Avenue de la Bourdonnais where the Eiffel Tower is in clear sight.

6 – Pont de l’Alma

I just love how the Eiffel Tower pops up between the beautiful French architecture.
I could never get tired of these typical Parisienne streets.
8 – Champ de Mars
For more quiet views of the Eiffel Tower, Champ de Mars is perfect! Especially during spring and summer a must in every Paris itinerary.
With quiet I mean: there are definitely less people than on the very, very popular instagram spots. It’s very touristy though and you will find people selling their little Eiffel Towers everywhere.

Find the best Eiffel Tower views in Paris with my guide, from the rooftops to along the river Seine.
Seeking out some of the best views of the Eiffel Tower is a great way to see and enjoy Paris. It’s the most magical and evocative sight in Paris, visible from places all around the city. It’s also the most visited attraction in Paris, but the views of it are so much better of it rather than those from it.
From river to rooftop, a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower is one of the great joys of Paris, and I’ve collected 28 Eiffel Tower views for you to check out. I have broken down our guide to the best views of the Eiffel Tower by area, including the viewpoints in the immediate vicinity, further along the Seine and further afield across Paris.
If you’re pushed for time, I’ve also chosen our top 6 essential, do not miss Eiffel Tower vantage points to visit.
Best Eiffel Tower Views – An Introduction
You can see the Eiffel Tower from many places in Paris, and the best views of the Eiffel Tower are spread out across the city
The Eiffel Tower is over 320 metres (around 1,000 feet high) and you can see it from many open areas and many Paris rooftops
Several Eiffel Tower best views are concentrated close to the Tower, from the Trocadéro area across the river to the side streets off Avenue Rapp in the 7 th arrondissement
Many of the best places to view the Eiffel Tower are along the river Seine, from the Ile de la Cite and Pont Neuf in the east to the bridges downstream of the Tower
Some of the best views of the Eiffel Tower in Paris are from other Paris landmarks across the city, including the Arc de Triomphe and the dome of the Panthéon
The highest views of the Eiffel Tower aren’t necessarily the best – many of the best Eiffel Tower views are from rooftop level or 10-20 metres above, from which you still see much of the city’s architecture as well as the Tower

Trocadéro – one of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots, particularly at sunrise, long before the crowds arrive
Pont Alexandre III – one of the most famous bridges in Paris with breathtaking views of the city
Panthéon – the top of the dome is one of the great Paris viewpoints
Square Rapp – this tiny side street offers one of the best views of the Eiffel Tower
Notre Dame – when it reopens the tower is offers fantastic Eiffel Tower views
Best Eiffel Tower Views – Around The Eiffel Tower
1. parvis du trocadéro.
I enjoyed my first ever view of the Eiffel Tower in the 1980s, and for me it’s still one of the best places to see it. Also known as the Parvis des Droits de l’Homme, (the Parvis of the Rights of Man), this square sits between the two halves of the Palais de Chaillot, and commands an incredible elevated view of Eiffel’s masterpiece. It’s one of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots, particularly at sunrise, long before the crowds arrive.
Late in the day, if you have sunny weather the golden statues on either side of the square look stunning, and make for wonderful compositions with the Eiffel Tower behind. Even without the statues, the Parvis offers one of the classic Eiffel Tower views.
Best time of day for the view: Sunrise and the hour before sunset are best, but it looks great at any time of day
Getting there: Trocadéro Metro (lines 6 and 9) or bus 63
Co-ordinates: 48.862580, 2.288082

2. Trocadéro Gardens
The Jardins du Trocadéro are another of the best Eiffel Tower viewpoints. They are two flights of steps down from the Parvis, and the centrepiece is the famous cannon-style fountains (sometimes called the Fontaine de Varsovie).
The fountains are one of the best places to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower because of the possible reflections of the Tower in the water. Ironically my son and I went there one evening hoping for some fountain action, which unfortunately didn’t come to pass. But we got the reflection in the pool, which was wonderful.
Unsurprisingly, for many it’s the best place to see the Eiffel Tower.
Best time of day for the view : Afternoon, evening and twilight – though sunrise would also work
Getting there: Trocadéro Metro (lines 6 and 9) or bus 63
Co-ordinates: 48.861694, 2.289021
3. Eiffel Tower Carousel
Another best view of Eiffel Tower candidate is just across the road from it – the Carousel opposite the Eiffel Tower. Because of its location it’s one of the most popular carousels in Paris , and the thrill of the ride beneath the Tour Eiffel makes it one of the best things to do in Paris for kids.
The view of the Carousel and Eiffel Tower is magical. It’s a classic vintage carousel painted with many familiar Paris scenes, and the kids can sit on a variety of horses or a few vehicles as they enjoy their few minutes’ ride.
The Eiffel Tower and Carousel simply look fantastic together, whether in daylight or at night when you can try out long exposures with the moving lights of the Carousel.
Best time of day for the view: Afternoon, evening or night
Getting there: Champ de Mars Tour Eiffel on RER line C, Bir-Hakeim on Metro line 6 or bus 82
Co-ordinates : 8.858870, 2.292914
Cost: Free to see the Carousel, 3 euros per ride on the Carousel
4. Champ de Mars
The Champ de Mars is the open stretch of parkland between the Eiffel Tower and the École Militaire on the Left Bank of the Seine. If you’re looking for a clear, uninterrupted full-length Eiffel Tower view (ideally with a clear blue sky) then the Champ de Mars is the place to go.
It’s one of the best places to photograph the Eiffel Tower in springtime, when numerous magnolia and cherry blossom trees flower gloriously for a couple of weeks or so. And it’s a favourite place among Parisians to watch the Bastille Day fireworks, at 11 pm every July 14 th .
Best time of day for the view: Any time
Getting there: École Militaire Metro, line 8 is close by, while buses 42 and 69 cross the Champ de Mars and stop on its edge.
Co-ordinates : 48.856622, 2.297386
Cost : Free
Best Views Of Eiffel Tower – Along The River Seine
1. pont alexandre iii.
One of the best views of Eiffel Tower in Paris is from the Alexandre III bridge (called Pont Alexandre Trois in French). It’s one of the most famous and beautiful bridges in Paris, with its ornate statues and lamp posts, and it also boasts some of the best views in Paris.
For the best Eiffel Tower views from the Pont Alexandre III, head to the right bank (rive droite), on the northern side of the river, close to the Grand Palais. In one direction you have a gorgeous view of the Eiffel Tower, with many of the statues offering wonderful foregrounds for your Eiffel Tower photos.
There is also a superb view along the bridge to the golden dome of the Hôtel des Invalides.
The Pont Alexandre III also has one of the best views of the Eiffel Tower at night. The lamps are bright, so try to get there around sunset, watch the dusky colours of the sky and the twinkling lights of the Eiffel Tower.
The best time to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower from the bridge is in the magic couple of minutes or so when the lights are turned on and aren’t too bright.
Best time of day for the view: Morning, or late afternoon, evening, sunset and twilight
Getting there: On the Invalides side, Metro lines 8 or 13 to Invalides only leaves you with a short walk to the bridge, as does RER line C. Buses 63, 87 and 93 also run very close.
The best viewpoint is only a few minutes’ walk from Champs-Élysées-Clemenceau on Metro lines 1 and 13.
Co-ordinates: 48.864139, 2.313481
2. River Seine Cruise
One of the best experiences in Paris is a cruise on the River Seine, and the beauty of it is that you get to enjoy many of the best views of Eiffel Tower in one go. They are a great introduction to Paris, especially if you’re visiting Paris for the first time.
Paris Seine cruises typically last an hour to an hour-and-a-half, taking you up and down the river between the Eiffel Tower and the Jardin des Plantes. During this time you’ll get multiple Eiffel Tower views, and trip can serve as a sort of recce – so you may choose to return to certain spots you see on your cruise.
Paris is at its most magical at night, and we opted for a sunset cruise, enjoying the twilight and the spectacular twinkling Eiffel Tower along the way. The best Eiffel Tower views during the cruise are between the Pont Alexandre III and Pont d’Iena, right below the Tower.
Best time of day for the view: Any time is good, but evening and dusk are extra special
Cost: Variable, usually around 15 euros for adults
3. Bir Hakeim Bridge
The Pont de Bir-Hakeim, formerly the Viaduc de Passy, is the first bridge downstream after the Eiffel Tower, and it offers some wonderful views of the ‘Iron Lady’.
The bridge, named after a Second World War battle between the Free French and German forces under General Rommel, has two levels – a pedestrian and road section, and an elevated railway section supported by a beautiful colonnade. Some readers may recognize it from the movie Last Tango In Paris , as several scenes were shot there.
Some photographer friends believe Bir Hakeim bridge offers the best view of Eiffel Tower, because the arches of the colonnade frame it so well. People are always walking, riding or skating past, which adds life to the scene.
Just across the road, on the Eiffel Tower side of the bridge, the dramatic France Reborn (France Renaissante) makes for a dynamic composition with the Tower in the background.
Getting there: Bir-Hakeim Metro
Co-ordinates: 48.855804, 2.287754
4. Statue of Liberty
One of the less-known views of the Eiffel Tower is from the Pont Mirabeau, three bridges downstream from the Eiffel Tower and Pont d’Iéna. This is very much off the beaten path for Paris, and I ventured there to see the replica of the Statue of Liberty in Paris , which stands on the end of the Ile aux Cygnes artificial island, just below the Pont de Grenelle.
From the Pont Mirabeau, you get a great view upstream of the ¼ size Statue of Liberty with the iron outline of la Tour Eiffel just behind, a magnificent sight.
It’s possible to walk from the Pont Mirabeau along to the island and admire the Statue up close. It’s then a short, pleasant Seine-side stroll to the Pont de Bir-Hakeim, another of our best Eiffel Tower views.
Best time of day for the view: Afternoon – or evening in summer
Getting there: Metro line 10 to Javel-André Citroen, then a short walk onto the Mirabeau bridge
Co-ordinates: 48.846898, 2.275259
5. Notre Dame Cathedral
It’s not possible to enjoy it at the time of writing, but some would suggest that the best Eiffel Tower view of all is from Notre Dame Cathedral. The narrow climb up the north tower leads you to the gallery linking it with its twin south tower. From here you get an extraordinary view of Paris, with medieval stone chimeras and gargoyles looking out over the city skyline and, of course, the Eiffel Tower.
The top of the south tower, over 100 steps further up, can also be visited, but the view from the gallery is better.
Restoration is ongoing after the terrible fire that ravaged the Cathedral in April 2019, and it’s going to be at least 2024 before anyone can enjoy this amazing view again.
Best time of day for the view: morning through to mid-afternoon
Getting there: Cite (metro line 4) or St Michel RER line B
Best Views Eiffel Tower – Around Avenue Rapp
1. square rapp.
This tiny side street and garden has one of the very best views of the Eiffel Tower, and it can be found near the southern end of Avenue Rapp, a great street for Eiffel Tower-spotting, in the 7 th arrondissement.
Square Rapp is barely 50 metres end-to-end, with the elegant buildings either side framing the Tower beautifully. There is a garden just behind the railings at the end of the street, but residents have put up a notice asking visitors to kindly not encroach on this private space.
Best time of day for the view: Morning
Getting there: Pont de l’Alma on the RER C line, then walk the length of Avenue Rapp, where several other streets have Eiffel Tower views.
Co-ordinates : 48.858730, 2.301115
2. Rue de l’Université
Rue de l’Université runs parallel to the Seine along the rive gauche (Left Bank), from St Germain to the gardens below the Eiffel Tower.
It offers a good view of the Eiffel Tower as it crosses the broad Esplanade des Invalides, but the best is saved for the last few metres of the street.
Rue de l’Université ends in a small cul-de-sac, with fine townhouses either side and trees framing one of the most popular Eiffel Tower views.
Best time of day for the view: Morning to midday
Getting there: Pont de l’Alma on the RER C line, then walk
Co-ordinates: 48.859845, 2.296455
3. Other Streets Off Avenue Rapp
Several of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots can be found by taking a stroll along Avenue Rapp, a leafy street in the 7 th arrondissement a few minutes’ walk from the ‘Iron Lady’.
We’ve singled out Square Rapp and Rue de l’Université,but most of the streets running off the west side of Avenue Rapp have pretty fine Eiffel Tower views.
The buildings in each street frame the Eiffel Tower wonderfully, and give more of a flavour of the city, with its distinctive architecture including its attic apartment windows.
Avenue Emile Pouvillon is one of the best Eiffel Tower vantage points, and it’s also taking the short walk up Avenue Rapp to look along Rue du General Camou and Rue de Monttessuy.
Best time of day for the views: Morning to midday
Getting there: Pont de l’Alma RER C as above
Eiffel Tower Best Views – Champs- É lys é es To The Louvre
1. arc de triomphe.
One of our picks for the best view of the Eiffel Tower is the top of the Arc de Triomphe Paris .
It’s at just the right height, 50 metres above the busy streets below. The tree-lined Avenue d’Iéna leads the eye from the Place de l’Étoile, most of the way towards the Tour Eiffel, and you can see most of it, including the top of the arch and first ‘floor’.
We planned our Arc de Triomphe visit to make the most of the summer afternoon light on the Tower, but evening – including sunset or twilight – is another great time to enjoy the view, particularly if you get to see the hourly Eiffel Tower light show.
Best time of day for the view: Afternoon, evening, or twilight
Getting there: Charles de Gaulle- Étoile on RER A, or Metro lines 1, 2 and 6
Co-ordinates: 48.874197, 2.294949
Cost: 11 euros for adults
2. Place de la Concorde
The Place de la Concorde – between the Tuileries Gardens and the Avenue des Champs-Élysées – is the largest square in Paris that is a great vantage point for both the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe.
Dodge the traffic and walk just about anywhere around the square and you’ll enjoy great Eiffel Tower views. The Place de la Concorde is rich in architectural detail, from the ancient Egyptian obelisk to the ornate fountains (switched off when I visited!).
Head there for the last hour of the day and let the light paint you some pictures.
Best time of day for the view: Evening or night
Getting there: Concorde Metro (lines 1, 8 and 12)
Co-ordinates: 48.865016, 2.321028
3. Tuileries Gardens
The open spaces of the west (Place de la Concorde) end of the Jardins des Tuileries offer some of the best Eiffel Tower views, and you can also walk through the gates and take in the Place at the same time.
Start at the Bassin Octagonal, the large pond near the gate to the gardens. It’s a classic Parisian scene, with people having an evening picnic and glass of wine, sitting on the free green chairs you find in most Parisian parks.
Some of them will have positioned themselves to watch the late light on the Eiffel Tower, a mile or so away across the river. It’s well worth joining them for a while if there are spare chairs around.
While there, take the short walk up the slope to the viewpoints either side of the gateway – one is close to the Orangerie, the other the Jeu de Paume. Here, the statues make a wonderful foreground, especially around sunset, with the Eiffel Tower off to the left. A magical scene.
Co-ordinates: 48.865127, 2.322629
3. Pont des Arts
One of the most elegant Paris bridges, the Pont des Arts spans the Seine between the Louvre on the north (right bank) and the Institut de France on the south (left) side of the river.
As you cross the delicate pedestrian wrought-iron bridge you can see the Eiffel Tower peeking above the rooftops of the Left Bank, but you get a better view if you walk to the right bank and turn right towards the Pont Neuf. It’s especially beautiful towards sunset.
Best time of day for the view: Morning or evening
Getting there: Louvre-Rivoli Metro (line 1)
Best Eiffel Tower Views – Left Bank and Latin Quarter
1. panthéon.
The dome of the Panthéon is one of the great Paris viewpoints, offering a superb 360-degree panorama from high above the Latin Quarter. Like the Arc de Triomphe, it’s not too high – from there you get a wonderful view over the nearby rooftops and the Luxembourg Gardens to the Eiffel Tower and the dome of Les Invalides.
Bear in mind that you need to buy a ticket to climb the Panthéon dome as well as your ticket to the church. Similarly, if you have a Paris Museum Pass as I did, you need to pay for an additional ticket. It’s well worth it – the price is 1/10 of what you pay to ascend the Eiffel Tower, and the view of Paris is far better.
The view of Saint Sulpice church from there is also spectacular, with the modern towers of La Defense behind. There is also a great view over the church of Saint Etienne du Mont from the other side of the dome.
Best time of day for the view: Morning to early afternoon
Getting there: Luvembourg (RER B), Maubert-Mutualite (Metro line 10) or Place Monge (Metro line 7) are all within a few minutes’ walk
Cost: 3.50 euros for the dome ticket on top of the 11.50 entry fee
2. Montparnasse Tower
The Paris Montparnasse Observatory, on the 56 th floor of the Tour Montparnasse skyscraper, has one of the most famous Eiffel Tower views. From the viewing gallery, the Eiffel Tower stands in front of the futuristic (by comparison) skyscrapers of the La Defense business district.
The Eiffel Tower is surprisingly small in the overall field of vision, but a 200mm zoom lens handles the distance just nicely. It looks best at dusk in summer, with the afterglow in the sky and the lights on the Tower.
Best time of day for the view: Sunset and dusk in summer – any time of day the rest of the year
Getting there: Gare Montparnasse Metro lines 4, 6, 12 and 13
Cost: 19 euros for an adult, or 25 euros for two visits (One daytime and one night) within 48 hours
3. Hôtel des Invalides
Many visitors to the Invalides head for the southern end of the complex, where the entry to the National Army Museum and church housing Napoleon’s tomb is located. They don’t get to enjoy the gardens at the northern end of the complex, which offer some of the best Eiffel Tower views.
We particularly like the view from the north-east corner of the Invalides, with the row of cannons lined up in the foreground and the Tower in the distance.
There is also a beautiful small park, Square d’Ajaccio, around 50 metres around the corner with another great view of the Eiffel Tower.
Best time of day for the view: Morning through to early afternoon, though later would be OK too
Getting there: Varenne Metro (line 13) is little more than 100 metres away
Co-ordinates: 48.858144, 2.314360
Best Eiffel Tower Views Paris – Grands Boulevards, Beaubourg and Montmartre
1. galeries lafayette rooftop.
The terrace of the Galeries Lafayette department store offers a great rooftop Eiffel Tower view. From this vantage point above Boulevard Haussmann you have a wonderful 180-degree panorama looking south, with the rear of the splendid Opera Garnier building and, to the right, the Eiffel Tower looming high above the rive gauche.
The Galeries Lafayette rooftop terrace is at the top of the Coupole (Dome) building, one of three buildings in a row belonging to the store.
Take a look at the gorgeous Art Nouveau stained glass dome before heading up to the Terrasse (T on the elevator keypad) for the view outside.
Getting there : Auber (RER A), or Chaussee d’Antin – La Fayette Metro (lines 7 and 9)
2. Au Printemps Rooftop Café
A few doors along Boulevard Haussmann, the rooftop café at neighbouring grand magasin Au Printemps also commands a great view of the Eiffel Tower.
Theoretically you need to order a drink or something to eat, but when we visited, we found empty tables and nobody around to serve us, so we took a quick look.
From there, the Eiffel Tower rises up behind the classic Parisian apatment buildings on Boulevard Haussmann.
Getting there : Havre-Caumartin Metro (lines 3 and 9)
Cost: the price of a drink
3. Montmartre and Sacre Coeur
Atmospheric Montmartre and its Basilica, the bright white Byzantine-style Sacre Coeur, offer the most distant Eiffel Tower views that we describe in our article. I’ve left them until near the end as I think the other Eiffel Tower views are better.
That said, Montmartre is wonderful and I would try to set aside a few hours to visit it and explore its wonderful back streets.
During the winter months, when the trees are bare, the Eiffel Tower is visible from more places than when they are laden with leaves in the warmer months. In summer, one of the few Montmartre Eiffel Tower views is from Square Nadar, a tiny park on Rue St Eleuthere, just below Sacre Coeur.
One way of avoiding trees blocking your view is to climb Sacre Coeur dome, a 300-step trudge to one of the highest viewpoints in Paris. I don’t think it’s that great a view, as I don’t rate the Eiffel Tower top view, because it’s so far above the city that you almost ‘lose’ even landmarks like the Eiffel Tower.
Best time of day for the view: Morning or late afternoon through to dusk
Getting there: The Montmartre funicular or bus 40 take you very close to Sacre Coeur.
Co-ordinates for Rue St Eleuthere : 48.885850, 2.341464
Cost: Free for the street views, 6 euros for Sacre Coeur dome
4. Centre Pompidou
The Pompidou Centre, housing the outstanding Musee National d’Art Moderne, is about to close for four years (2023-27) for an extensive refurbishment. Nonetheless it still deserves mention for the superb view over the rooftops of Paris from the sixth-floor restaurant, Le Georges.
Best Views Of The Eiffel Tower – Passy
1. la maison de balzac.
The Museum in the former home of 19 th century French author Honore de Balzac is one of the least-known but best Eiffel Tower views.
Balzac, one of the greatest French writers, wrote La comedie humaine while living in this house in Passy, just across the river from the Eiffel Tower.
He died in 1850, almost 40 years before completion of the Tower, but visitors get an exceptional view of it from the house and garden.
Best time of day for the view: Midday and afternoon
Getting there: Passy (Metro line 6)
Address: 47 Rue Raynouard Paris 75016
Cost: Free

0. VIEW OF THE EIFFEL TOWER FROM YOUR ROOM
Some of the most beautiful historic hotels in Paris , well known for their amazing facilities, also come with great Eiffel Tower views. So if you are traveling to Paris and you can afford it, why not treat yourself to the pleasure of an amazing room with Eiffel Tower view? This picture was taken from the Hotel Shangri-La , in Paris 16, but there are other hotels with fabulous views of the Eiffel Tower .
These hotels are also home to some of the best rooftop bars in Paris . We love any rooftop view of the Eiffel Tower, when the Tower outstands in the landscape surrounded by smaller buildings with their quintessential Parisian roofs.
If you prefer a home-from-home in Paris, it is also possible to find cozy apartments with Eiffel Tower views .
1. EIFFEL TOWER VIEW FROM THE EIFFEL TOWER GARDENS (PARIS 7)
- Suggested by Elisa | World in Paris
- Device used: Canon 5D Mark iii
- Instagram: worldinparis
One of our favorite views of Eiffel Tower is from the Eiffel Tower Gardens, from the path that leads to the ticket control to access the Tower. It is only when you get close to the Eiffel Tower that you realize how big is!
This closer view also allows visitors to appreciate the structure, the texture of the iron, and some additional details. Sometimes, engineering isn’t just functional, it’s beautiful.
From this spot, you can also see how the elevators go up and down through the pillars; it is fascinating!
You can admire this view even during a short layover in Paris. Check out how to head from your Paris airport to the Eiffel Tower:

2. VIEW OF EIFFEL TOWER FROM PONT DE BIR-HAKEIM (PARIS 15-16)
- Suggested by: Maartje & Sebastiaan | The Orange Backpack
- Device used: Canon 100D, edited in Lightroom
- Instagram: theorangebackpack.nl
The Pont de Bir-Hakeim is the most beautiful bridge near the Eiffel tower. The Tower itself is at the Pont d’Iéna bridge, but we’d recommend you continue one bridge further to the south for the best view of the Eiffel Tower.
The Bir-Hakeim bridge is beautiful and a must-visit photography spot in Paris itself. It is often used for infinity shots. Make sure to check Instagram in advance for the best photo angle inspiration.
The steel construction of the bridge fits perfectly with the Iron Lady of Paris. The best time for your shots is early in the morning during sunrise when the sky around the Eiffel Tower will turn pink, yellow, and orange, and the sun slowly rises behind the Eiffel Tower. Our shot was taken in September around 7.30 am.
3. EIFFEL TOWER VIEW FROM THE TUILERIES GARDEN (PARIS 8)
- Suggested by: Jiayi | The Diary of a Nomad
- Device: Nikon D3100 + 18-55mm kit lens
- Instagram: t hediaryofanomad
One of the best views of the Eiffel Tower is seen from right outside the Tuileries Garden , at the corner right opposite of Musée de l’Orangerie. The reason this spot is so awesome is because the Tuileries Gaden is one of the most stunning gardens in Paris , and your visit here will be made even more special when you step outside of it to immediately find this view of the Eiffel Tower next to the charming statues.
The day I was there, the dense clouds and sun rays peeking out also added to the dramatic aesthetic of the view! I recommend stopping by this spot right before sunset to get beautiful soft lighting for your photos, and to bring a zoom lens with you (I used a Nikon 18-55mm) because the tower is a bit far, so you will need to zoom in to make it look bigger!
4. VIEW OF THE EIFFEL TOWER FROM THE EIFFEL TOWER (PARIS 7)
- Suggested by Norbert | World in Paris
Is the Eiffel Tower the best place to see the Eiffel Tower?! This Eiffel Tower shot was taken from the first floor, during our last visit to the Tower, and you can admire many interesting details of the pillars and the arches. It is also fun to see how the lifts go up and down.
Is it worth going up the Eiffel Tower? We say YES, especially if you are visiting Paris for the first time. The Eiffel Tower is one of the most iconic sites in Paris and the world, the exhibition on-site is very interesting, plus the view from the top of the Eiffel Tower is amazing.
We recommend visiting the Eiffel Tower one hour before sunset to get day views from the tower, have a look at the exhibition, and then take beautiful night shots. Be sure to book your Eiffel Tower tickets well in advance, as the last time slots are always the most popular.

- Device used: Olympus OM-D EM5 Mark II with a 14-150mm lens

For a perfectly Parisian view of the Eiffel Tower, head to the rear gates of the Théâtre de la Tour Eiffel . Located on a small, dead-end street off of Avenue Rapp, this photo spot uses quintessential Paris flats to frame the Iron Lady. I particularly love the juxtaposition of swirling iron balconies next to the Eiffel Tower’s geometric structure.
To deal with the mix of shadowed buildings and bright sky, you’ll want to use a tripod for this shot. Shooting vertically with a wide-angle lens will let you capture the full length of the Eiffel Tower. The street opens up to the west, making this location ideal for golden hour and sunset photos.
6. VIEW OF EIFFEL TOWER FROM MONTPARNASSE (PARIS 15)
- Suggested by: Claudia Tavani | My Adventures Across The World
- Device used: Nikon DS3300 with a 70/300 mm lens
- Instagram: myadventuresacrosstheworld
One of the best views of Eiffel Tower is from Montparnasse Tower . As the photo shows, the views are completely unobstructed.
This skyscraper was built in the 1970s and, with its 210 meters, is the second tallest building in the city. The observation deck is open 365 days, from 10:00 am to 10:30 pm. Once up, you can stay for as long as you want.
You may want to consider going up in the late afternoon to enjoy day /sunset and night views of the Eiffel Tower and Paris.
As Montparnasse Tower can hardly be considered a beautiful building, the benefit of climbing it is that once you are on it, you can’t see it! The stunning Eiffel Tower views from it make it one of the unmissable places to visit in Paris.

After a month-long blogging trip to Europe, we had a 13-hour stopover in Paris on the way home. Completely exhausted, we went straight from the airport to catch the sunset at the Eiffel Tower because it’s Paris, for goodness’ sake!
Upon leaving, we walked down Rue de Monttessuy and turned back to see if there was an Eiffel Tower view right at the moment that the lights turned on and lit up the Tower. A sparkling light show ensued, which happens for the first 5 minutes of every evening hour. There were no crazy crowds, just us and this incredible moment.
This shot was taken outside of the restaurant Il Sorrentino near Avenue Rapp. Taken on an iPhone XS Max, it just shows you that you don’t need a fancy camera to capture the magic of Paris.
8. VIEW OF THE EIFFEL TOWER FROM CHAMP DE MARS (PARIS 7)
- Suggested by: Kriszti | She Wanders Abroad
- Device used: Sony Alpha 7II mirrorless camera + Sony FE 28-70mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS lens

If you’re looking for the best view of Eiffel Tower, Champ de Mars should be on your list! It’s a large public green space located right in front of the Eiffel Tower, so it’s also a perfect place to have a picnic or hang around with friends.
If you want to have the whole tower in the picture, you need to go to the back of the park. The best place is around the Statue du Maréchal Joseph Joffre. It’s only a few minutes’ walk away from the École Militaire metro station, so it’s very easy to reach.
Since the sun is setting right behind the Eiffel Tower, the best time to take photos at this location is sunset. Although it’s usually crowded at sunset, the good news is that if you aim your camera higher, you will be able to get a picture without any people in it!
9. VIEW OF THE EIFFEL TOWER FROM ARC DE TRIOMPHE (PARIS 8)
- Suggested by: Rachel & Clark | Seeking Our Someday
- Device used: Olympus OM-D E-M1
- Instagram: seekingoursomeday
For a unique view of Eiffel Tower, head to the top of the Arc de Triomphe . Not only is this spot one of the most iconic buildings in Paris , but also the top boasts an unobstructed view of the Eiffel Tower and the city of Paris.
This is a much less crowded viewpoint than the Champ de Mars, and photographing from this panoramic terrace puts the height of the Eiffel Tower into perspective. Tickets are required to visit the top terrace, and arriving an hour before sunset will provide an opportunity to photograph the Eiffel Tower as the clouds and sky change colors.
After sunset, the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, just below the Arc de Triomphe, is a nice spot to stroll outside for portraits as the city streetlights turn on.

One of the best views of Eiffel Tower is from the banks of the Seine, on the opposite side of the river from the tower. This photo was taken from Port Debilly , just off the Avenue de New York.
Walk down from the main road to the river edge, and you’ll find a wide pedestrian path, perfect for walking along and enjoying the sights. We recommend visiting at night when the tower is lit up – you can get some magical shots.

The best view of Eiffel Tower is, in my opinion, from Esplanade du Trocadéro , which is right across the river from the beautiful Eiffel Tower.
If you want to get beautiful pictures of the Eiffel Tower from Trocadéro with fewer crowds, get there at sunrise. Early in the morning, there are many professional photographers taking pre-wedding/engagement Eiffel Tower photos. Then tourists start to show up around 9 am, and the place becomes too crowded.
I was once there at 7 am, but it was so cloudy I couldn’t see the Eiffel Tower! In order not to be disappointed, check the Eiffel Tower live webcam before you head out for the best Eiffel Tower view.
12. EIFFEL TOWER VIEW FROM THE CAROUSEL WITHIN TROCADÉRO GARDENS (PARIS 7)

The Eiffel Tower is a beauty no matter whichever place or angle you view it from. One of the best places to see the Eiffel Tower is from the carousel within the Trocadéro Gardens . The combined view of the rotating carousel with the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower gives the place such a vintage feel and somehow takes us back in time.
The view of the Eiffel Tower here is absolutely beautiful during the day and prettier at night, with the glittering lights both from the carousel and the tower brightening up the place. So definitely get yourself these pictorial memorabilia, both in the daylight during the morning hours and certainly at night too, preferably closer to sunset hour just as the lights begin turning on these charming architectures.
However, keep in mind that this particular carousel is located at an intersection, which means plenty of foot traffic, so take that into consideration while taking a picture here.
Other Great Eiffel Tower Views
Of course, our friends mentioned most of the best Eiffel Tower view points. There are a couple more places, however, that we feel should be added to the list of best places to see the Eiffel Tower.
13. EIFFEL TOWER VIEWS FROM A SEINE RIVER CRUISE
A cruise along the River Seine is one of the best ways to see the most famous landmarks in Paris. Seine River cruises usually last a couple of hours and can be with or without a meal.
Either way, you’re bound to get the best Eiffel Tower views as the boat sails along the river. Sit back and enjoy the show that Paris has to offer!
14. VIEW OF THE EIFFEL TOWER FROM THE PANTHÉON OF PARIS (PARIS 5)
Under its majestic dome, the Panthéon of Paris has an exclusive observatory, only open to the public from April to October. Between the large colonnades that overlook the historic building, a magnificent 360-degree view of the capital is revealed.
The photograph was taken from the dome of the Panthéon, which offers a magnificent view of Paris and, in particular, of the Eiffel Tower, the Luxembourg Gardens, the Invalides, and the Saint-Sulpice Church. The French flag on the side gives the shot a picturesque touch.
This breathtaking and truly unique view of all of Paris is the reward for climbing 206 steps, but it is well worth it! You can buy your tickets to the Panthéon here .
So there you have it, our selection of the best places to see the Eiffel Tower. Which is the best view of Eiffel Tower, in your opinion?

The Jardins du Trocadero (Trocadero Gardens) are located on the northwest side of the Eiffel Tower, on the other side of the Seine River. It’s one of the most famous Eiffel Tower views, and it offers different views and angles of the Eiffel Tower.
However keep in mind that this place is permanently crowded ; if you plan to go there, go early morning for sunrise , or be ready to face crowds of tourists. The best shots I have taken there were on early mornings when the sun was starting to rise above the horizon, and when all the people that usually crowd Paris were still in bed.
It’s definitely a must-see if you’re spending only a weekend in Paris !

From the entry of Jardins du Trocadero with the statues.
Above the stairs leading down to the gardens.
Above the Fountain Of Warsaw.
In the Fountain of Warsaw: go there in the off-season when the water cannons are turned off, and go down in the basin. It makes for beautiful reflection shots after the rain.
Oh and by the way, if you want to enjoy the view without having to wake up too early, check out these hotels with a view on the Eiffel Tower !
If you keep going towards the Eiffel Tower from the Trocadero, you’ll end up in the « Place de Varsovie ». Go to the right when facing the Eiffel Tower, and you’ll find the iconic Carousel . Step back from it and you’ll have the perfect Eiffel Tower view with the picturesque Carousel; straight out of a postcard!
Do you really like carousels? Well you’re in luck, because there’s a second one 5 minutes away ! Cross the Iena Bridge towards the Eiffel Tower, and you’ll find the « Eiffel Tower Carousel », another carousel with a different Eiffel Tower view.
The Bir-Hakeim bridge is a popular bridge, that was made even more famous by the movie Inception ( scene from the movie ). Due to its proximity to the Eiffel Tower, it makes for perfect Eiffel Tower views. Go to different parts of the bridge, and experience different Eiffel Tower views !
From the north side entrance of the bridge, looking north, you’ll see a road going under the bridge and leading the eye towards the Eiffel Tower. This is a good spot to shoot at night, to catch light trails of the cars passing by.
From under the bridge, you’ll have a nice Eiffel Tower view with the bridge arches framing the monument pretty nicely.
Keep going to the middle of the bridge, where it extends out above the Seine with a nice viewpoint. There you can find the statue « La France renaissante » which really adds to the already beautiful Eiffel Tower view
To me, the view of the Eiffel Tower from the top of the Arc de Triomphe is the best Eiffel Tower view in the city! In addition to having a 360° view of the city, you also have a wonderful view of the Eiffel Tower from up high, with the streets of Paris and the buildings below.
The best time to climb the Arc de Triomphe is 1 hour before sunset . This will give you a nice Eiffel Tower view during day time.
Stick around when the sun slowly drops down below the horizon, and you’ll be at the perfect place to watch the sunset . After the sunset, you’ll be blessed by blue hour, and you will witness the Eiffel Tower light up.
One last tip: if you wait until the full hour (9 pm in summer), you will be rewarded with what makes tourists everywhere around the Eiffel Tower gasp in awe: the Eiffel Tower sparkling.
This one is not as famous as the first 4 locations, but you might have seen it on Instagram. Go to the very end of the street, up to 228 rue de l’Université. You’ll find a pretty classical Paris street , leading all the way to the Eiffel Tower.
There are always cars parked on the side of the road; this is the perfect opportunity to capture an innovative reflection shot of the Eiffel Tower. Simply place your camera or phone on the roof of any car (a shiny car will work best), and tadaaa! You’ve got yourself a pretty cool shot of the Eiffel Tower.

The 6th of the Eiffel Tower views is not too far from the previous one; you’ll get from one spot to the other in 5 minutes .
Square Rapp is one of these locations you wouldn’t even notice if you didn’t know it existed. If you walk in the street Avenue Rapp and pass in front of it, you’ll probably walk past it. But if you take your time, and look for it, you’ll end up in a pretty and tiny park from which you’ll have a unique Eiffel Tower view.
The unique fence marking the entry of Square Rapp is a beauty in itself. Add to it the Eiffel Tower in the background, and you’ll have an absolutely stunning view of the Eiffel Tower, that will make for an epic photo of the Iron Lady.
Additionally, when you exit the Square you’ll see on the right side of the street there’s a big glass window. You can use this to create a beautiful reflection shot of the Eiffel Tower.
One of the best locations to chill with a view on the Eiffel Tower. During the warm days, pack your bags with food and drinks , and head to the Seine Banks to enjoy a nice picnic close to the water, right below the Eiffel Tower.
The Seine banks can get quite crowded during summer, but you’ll always find a place to sit down and chill for a bit. Don’t expect to be alone, but you’ll find good vibes and nice music often filling the air when everyone is out enjoying the sun.
Standing at 210 meters (689 feet), the Montparnasse Tower is the highest building in Paris (second if you count the Eiffel Tower , and third if you count the Tour First located in La Defense). Its height makes for a perfect vantage point to get a different Eiffel Tower view.
The view you get from the top of the Montparnasse Tower is similar to the one you could get by flying a drone in Paris (which is strictly forbidden ).
Be warned however that the Montparnasse Tower is pretty far from the Eiffel Tower; you will need to be equipped with a telephoto lens to truly capture the beauty of the Eiffel Tower as seen from high up.
Even without a telephoto lens, the rooftop terrace of the Montparnasse Tower offers a wonderful panoramic view of the entire city of Paris.
The last place you would think of the get nice Eiffel Tower views is… right under the Tower itself! You read that correctly: right underneath the Iron Lady. If you can’t access the top of the Eiffel Tower because of the insanely long queues, go under instead 🙂
As long as you haven’t been right under the Eiffel Tower, you haven’t truly realized how massive it really is. When seeing it from afar, I think we can’t really seize how colossal this piece of art is.
We use to be able to walk freely beneath the Eiffel Tower, but due to the recent terror attacks in Paris these past years, the city has decided to build a huge glass wall all around the Eiffel Tower. To enter the area, you must know queue up, and go through security checks.
Since you have to line up and queue to go under it, I would advise going really early (8 am) or really late (10 pm) to avoid crowds; you won’t have to wait long to enter.
Once you’re in, you’ll have a unique Eiffel Tower view from the bottom. Walk around and look up, you’ll be surprised to see how different the Eiffel Tower is from there.
The last spot on this list of best Eiffel Tower views is a bit different . One place where I love to go to have a different view of the Eiffel Tower is the rooftops .
To see Paris from above, with rows of roofs leading to the Eiffel Tower, gives you an indescribable feeling of freedom and excitement. If you want to see more photos taken from Paris Rooftops, check out Parkour Paris on Instagram
Most of the Paris rooftops are private property; it is thus illegal to go on them (go at your own risk). However there are several rooftops that are open to the public and that you can easily access: the roof of the Printemps shopping mall for example, or the many rooftop bars Paris has to offer.
It’s a good idea to start your day by visiting the first place on the list, Jardins du Trocadero . As you can see on the map if you’ve downloaded it, from this location you can then move on to 6 of the other locations on the list.
Here’s the itinerary I recommend to check out the most beautiful views of the Eiffel Tower – this will take you 20 minutes in total to walk from the first spot to the last one, including stopping at the 4 other locations.
Obviously, this will actually take you way longer than that, given that you stop to enjoy the view at every location. If you start early morning for sunrise at the Jardins du Trocadero, you’ll be through the itinerary and ready for other adventures by 10:30 am.
Start your day at the 1) Jardins du Trocadero . Enjoy different views and angles there, and make your way down to the Iena Bridge. There you’ll be at the location 2) Carousel .
Before crossing the bridge, you can go down the stairs on the side and you’ll end up in location 7) Seine Banks ; this is the ideal location to chill for a bit, and enjoy a nice breakfast with a view.
Then, go back up the stairs, cross the bridge, and go to location 9) From under it . Enter the area below the Eiffel Tower and be amazed by how massive the structure really is.
When you exit the area, go straight to 5) Rue de l’Université ; once you’re here, turn around and you’ll have a nice view of the Eiffel Tower, framed by the charming street.
Finally, walk 5 minutes to the location 6) Square Rapp .
If you follow this plan, you’ll have seen 6 of the Best Eiffel Tower views in the city. This is a good way to spend your morning in Paris; now go grab some well-deserved lunch and keep exploring the city!

Best Paris Skyline Views: Where to See Them
Where can you see the best Paris skyline views with iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coeur, and Notre Dame silhouetted against city rooftops and the sky?
In this article, we share 17 of our favorite skyline view locations along with a map.
Some, such as the viewing platforms on the Eiffel Tower itself and the rooftop terrace at the Arc de Triomphe, will not surprise you. (Although we do offer tips to help you enhance your experience.)
But others fall squarely into the "insider secret" category despite their fantastic cityscape and skyline views.
And don't forget skyline views of Paris from your hotel room. Book the right property (we include recommendations), and you can enjoy spectacular views from your window.

17 Best Places to View the Paris Skyline & Its Iconic Landmarks
1. arc de triomphe rooftop terrace: panoramic paris skyline views of the eiffel tower & more.
When Napoleon Bonaparte built the Arc de Triomphe to celebrate his victories during the French Revolution and his Napoleonic Wars, he envisioned triumphal marches passing under it.
But today, visitors congregate on top of the Arc, where a large rooftop terrace offers sweeping 360-degree panoramic views of Paris and its surrounding suburbs and countryside.
The Arc's height of 164 feet (50 m) puts you at the perfect level to enjoy sweeping views of the city's famous monuments against the Paris skyline. You're also close enough to the ground to spot architectural details such as chimney pots.
What can you see from the rooftop observation deck?
Basically, all of the city's top attractions: the Eiffel Tower (check out the view from the Arc's rooftop at the beginning of this article), Sacre Coeur and Montmartre, Palais Garnier (the Paris Opera House), Père Lachaise Cemetery, Louvre Palace and Tuileries Garden, Notre Dame, and the ornate domes of the Pantheon, Invalides, and Saint Augustin Church.
Look down, and you'll see the 12 grand tree-lined avenues that converge at Arc de Triomphe.
The most famous, Avenue des Champs Élysées, stretches all the way to Place de la Concorde and is part of the Axe Historique, the line of historical monuments starting at the east with the statue of Louis XIV on horseback by the Louvre's glass pyramid.
The Historical Axis passes through the Arc and continues along the Avenue de la Grande Armée before ending at the Grande Arche in La Defense, the glittering business district to the west of Paris. Although you won't find any towers in Paris other than Montparnasse and the Tour Eiffel, La Défense practically overflows with them.
Not surprisingly, the Grande Arche has its own rooftop where you can also see spectacular skyline views of Paris - more about that in a moment!
Arc de Triomphe Visitor Tips
Best time to visit: Arrive about half an hour before sunset to experience dazzling colors as the sun dips below the horizon Arc de Triomphe location: Place de Étoile / Charles de Gaulle, where the 8th, 16th, and 17th arrondissements intersect Metro: Étoile/Charles de Gaulle station Skip-the-line rooftop tickets: Get them in advance

2. Eiffel Tower: Paris Panoramic Views at 3 Levels
As the highest structure in France and the quintessential place to see panoramic views of the Paris, the Eiffel Tower offers three viewing platforms.
The first platform is 190 feet (60 m) above ground level - only slightly higher than the Arc de Triomphe's rooftop terrace. Do you primarily want to see famous Paris monuments and buildings silhouetted against the skyline?
If so, the Level 1 platform is actually the best, but it has one drawback compared with the Arc: the fantastic views obviously don't include the Eiffel Tower itself. However, the Level 1's glass floor gives you a unique experience when you look down!
The second platform is almost twice as high from the ground: 376 feet (115 m). This is where you'll see the entire city laid out around you in panoramic cityscape and skyline views.
Want to see more details? Telescopes placed around the Level 2 platform let you zoom in on specific monuments or buildings. You'll easily spot Invalides, the Louvre and Tuileries Garden, Notre Dame Cathedral, Montmartre and Sacre Coeur, Trocadero, the Grand Palais, and even the Père Lachaise Cemetery.
Look down, and you can see how the Seine River bisects the city, with the Right Bank to the north and the Left Bank on the south.
Once you step off the elevator to the Third ("Summit") Level, you are much higher up - almost 900 feet (274 m), an exhilarating experience.
By peering down, you'll be able to identify the closest areas, such as Trocadero and the Champ de Mars.
Further in the distance , Paris's two enormous parks, Bois de Boulogne and Bois de Vincennes, stand out as large green areas. Along the Paris skyline, you can also easily recognize Sacre Coeur and Montmartre as well as the skyscrapers at La Defense.
However, the real thrill of being at the Summit comes from the long-distance views far beyond the city and even France. On a clear day, you may even be able to see Belgium.
Eiffel Tower Visitor Information
Best time to visit: Daytime hours are best if you want to see the most detail Tour Eiffel location: Champ de Mars, 5 Avenue Anatole France, 7th arrondissement Metro: Bir Hakeim, Trocadero, Pont de l'Alma Guided tour with optional access to Summit: Get your ticket now

3. Montparnasse Tower: Best Night Views of the Paris Skyline
Montparnasse Tower holds the distinction of being Paris's only skyscraper, and there's a reason for that. After the Tower's completion in 1973, Parisians' outrage about its height and unattractive appearance caused the city to ban future construction of buildings or towers in Paris over seven stories.
As a result, Montparnasse Tower offers sweeping panoramic views of the city from its top levels, unobstructed by any other nearby tall buildings. This is where you'll get the best Paris sky views at night.
With your admission ticket to the Montparnasse Tower Observatory, you get access to two locations:
- A covered observation deck which wraps around all sides of the 56th floor and is open year-round, regardless of the weather
- A spacious open-air rooftop terrace on the 59th
At about 690 feet (210 m) above the ground, the rooftop terrace puts you at the perfect height to look out directly at the Eiffel Tower. Despite being three floors lower, the view from the observation deck is virtually the same.
For an unforgettable experience, arrive after dark to see the Eiffel Tower's sparkling light show as city lights twinkle below.
Montparnasse Tower Visitor Tips
Location: 33 Avenue du Maine, 15th arrondissement. Visitor entrance is on Rue de l'Arrivée Accessibility: Entrance on Rue de Départ; please note that only the 56th floor observation deck is accessible; to reach the 59th, you must climb 3 flights of stairs Metro: Montparnasse Skip-the-line Observatory ticket (includes both floors): Get your ticket now Or get admission with your Paris Pass
4. Notre Dame: Paris Rooftops
The upper gallery around Notre Dame's towers offers lovely Paris skyline views, made even more special by the gorgoyles and chimeras perched along the edges.
You get detailed close-up looks at rooftops as well as the Seine River and its bridges, the Eiffel Tower, Montmartre, and other iconic sites.
Sadly, Notre Dame is currently closed for repairs and restoration after the devastating fire in April, 2019 but at least a portion will be open to the public by as early as December, 2024.
There's no news, of course, at this time about the reopening of the Towers to visitors - but stay hopeful and stay tuned!
5. Arab World Institute, Paris: Skyline View of Notre Dame
Where can you experience the best views of the Paris skyline featuring Notre Dame Cathedral?
Here's an insider's secret: head straight to the 9th-floor rooftop terrace next to Dar Mima - Zyrab, a Lebanese restaurant at the Institut de Monde Arab (Arab World Institute) in the Latin Quarter.
Although the restaurant serves lunch (reservations recommended), afternoon tea, and dinner (reservations required) in a lovely indoor space featuring floor-to-ceiling glass walls, you'll get even better skyline views at a table on the adjacent al fresco terrace.
Arrive in time for the afternoon tea service (3-6pm, Tues - Sat), and order hot mint tea and the delicious Lebanese pastries. Linger long enough, and you may see the first hints of sunset streak the sky behind Notre Dame.
In addition to the famous cathedral on Île de la Cité, the terrace also overlooks a large swath of the Right Bank, Ile Saint-Louis, the Seine River, and the Pont de la Tournelle bridge with its monumental statue of Saint-Geneniève, patron saint of Paris.
Arab World Institute Visitor Tips
More to See: The Institute's excellent collections highlighting Arab culture, and outstanding temporary exhibitions focusing on historical heritage and contemporary Arab life Location: 1 rue des Fossés St–Bernard, 5th arrondissement Metro: Jussieu, Cardinal Lemoine Admission: Free access to the terrace when you're dining at Le Zyriab (reservations suggested for dinner); free entry to the Institute's permanent collections with a Paris Museum Pass or Paris City Pass; most temporary exhibitions require a separate ticket which you can get at the door.
6. Sacre Coeur: Paris Cityscape View
Perched high on top of the highest hill in Paris's Montmartre neighborhood, Sacre Coeur Basilica is both a prominent landmark along the Paris skyline and a popular spot for panoramic views of the city below.
Most visitors use the broad terraces at the foot of the steps in front of Sacre Coeur as their viewing platform. But if you walk up the steps to the doors of the church, you'll get an even more expansive perspective.
If you know where to look, you can see all of the city's major landmarks amid the sea of rooftops: Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, the Pantheon, Notre Dame, the ornate golden domes of Invalides and the Institut de France, Louvre Palace, and even the former railway station housing Musée d'Orsay.
You can even spot the gold-tipped Egyptian obelisk in Place de la Concorde and the summer-only Ferris wheel in Tuileries Garden.
To get an even higher view, pay a few euros and climb another 300 steps up a rather narrow spiral staircase to reach the huge Dome of Sacre Coeur. (Your ticket also lets you visit the crypt.)
The Dome is spectacular and the crypt fascinating, but honestly? You'll find the best Paris skyline views from the Basilica's front steps.
Sacre Coeur Visitor Tips
Location: 18th arrondissement Metro: Abbesses How to get up the hill to Sacre Coeur: Walk up the steps, or take the Funicular (an automated cable car) up the hill; cost is the same as a metro ticket, or just use a ticket you already have for the ride Admission: Free, unless you want to climb up to the dome; if so, buy your ticket (currently about 5€ at the door on the Basilica's left side
7. Tuileries Ferris Wheel: Sacre Coeur, the Eiffel Tower, & More
Every summer in late June or early July, La Fête Foraine des Tuileries - a type of carnival known as a "fun fair" in France - pops up in Paris's Tuileries Garden near the Louvre for two months of non-stop entertainment.
Amid the bumper cars, arcade games, and cotton candy, the biggest attraction is the enormous Ferris wheel ("Grande Roue").
Hop on for a ride, and as the wheel slowly turns, you rise high above the ground for spectacular skyline views of Sacre Coeur and surrounding Montmartre, and in the other direction, the Eiffel Tower.
Too soon, you're down on the ground again - but your memories of the views will linger on.
If you miss the summer event, no worries! The Ferris wheel and carnival return to Tuileries Garden as part of its Magie de Noël Christmas Market from mid-December through early January.
Ferris Wheel Tips & Information
Best times to go: Daytime for the most detailed views, right before or right after sunset for spectacular color in the sky, and at night to see the city sparkle and catch the light show at the Eiffel Tower Location: Tuileries Garden near Rue de Rivoli, 1st arrondissement Metro: Tuileries Cost: About 15€ Hours: 11am - midnight (although hours may vary by day of the week) Dates & more information: Find summer dates for June/July and August; find Christmas market dates and details
8. Galeries Lafayette Rooftop Terrace: View Palais Garnier, the Eiffel Tower, & the Skyline of Paris
Galeries Lafayette and Au Printemps, two of Paris's grand department stores, sit almost side-by-side on Boulevard Haussmann. Both emporiums boast seasonal rooftop terraces on their top floor. Since they are only slightly higher than the surrounding rooftops, they give you a human-scale perspective of the city skyline.
You'll get a detailed up-close look at the elaborate ornamentation, carvings, and sculpture embellishing the opulent Palais Garnier (Paris Opera House). Phantom of the Opera fans will not want to miss this!
The Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coeur, and Notre Dame feel a bit more distant - but the skyline views of these iconic attractions are still magnificent.
Which rooftop terrace should you choose? Although the overall views feel similar, Galeries Lafayette has the edge because it directly overlooks Garnier Palace.
Both department store rooftops also have seasonal pop-up cafes in case you'd like to enjoy the view with a glass of wine or a meal.
Both terraces are usually open 10am-8pm, and may be closed during winter months and/or inclement weather.
Getting There
Locations: Galeries Lafayette Terrace (8th floor, 40 Boulevard Haussmann) and Printemps Terrace (9th floor, 64 Boulevard Haussmann), 9th arrondissement Metro: Chaussée d'Antin La Fayette Admission: Free
9. Centre Pompidou Rooftop Terrace Cityscape Views
Lots of visitors to Centre Pompidou, home to the Musée National d'Art Moderne, come to admire the museum's superb art shows but have no clue about the rooftop terrace or its wonderful skyline vistas. Don't let that be you!
Once you go up to the building's top level, you have two choices: the free terrace where you can simply admire the cityscape stretching out before you, or the Le Georges terrace bar where you can sip a cocktail, order lunch or dinner (reservations usually required), or chill as live DJs rev up the vibe into the late evening.
You'll see the Eiffel Tower, the top of Notre Dame, and other iconic monuments, but the biggest thrill here are the close-up views of chimney pots, rooftops, building art, and plant-filled balconies.
Getting to Centre Pompidou
Address: Place Georges-Pompidou, 4th arrondissement Metro: Rambuteau Admission: Buy your Centre Pompidou ticket online, or enter free with a Paris Museum Pass or Paris Pass
10. Musée Cité de l'Architecture: A Little-Known Gem with Terrific Eiffel Tower (& Skyline) Views
In a city packed with world-class museums such as Musée d'Orsay, the Louvre, and Pompidou Center, Musée Cité de l'Architecture often gets overlooked by Paris visitors despite its location at Trocadéro across from the Eiffel Tower.
That is a shame. This little-known museum's casts of architectural treasures from the 12th century through modern periods, murals, and stained glass make it well worth exploring.
But here's the secret bonus you'll find here: stunning Paris skyline views of the Eiffel Tower and other famous monuments. For the best views, go up to the third floor where the museum's elevation places you above the tree line and lets you looks slightly down and across the city's rooftops.
Pro Photographer Tips: If you want to photograph, for example, the Paris skyline with the Eiffel Tower, you're going to have to take your photo through glass because the museum does not have a rooftop terrace. To eliminate glare, place the lens of your camera or iPhone directly against the window. The third floor features a series of windows, so try the view from each one to find the perfect glare-free angle for your photograph.

11. Grande Arche in La Defense
Just as you can spot the Grande Arche tucked among La Défense skyscrapers from the Arc de Triomphe, you can see the Arc de Triomphe on the Paris skyline from the top of the steps of the Grande Arche.
At a height of 360 feet (110 m) above the ground, the Grande Arch is more than twice as high as the Arc de Triomphe, even though surrounding buildings tower over it.
To give you a sense of the Arche's height (and the nearby skyscrapers), Notre Dame Cathedral along with its two towers and former spire could fit under it with room to spare.
During the day, you can clearly see the Arc de Triomphe at the end of the Historical Axis formed by La Defense's Esplanade and Paris's Avenue de l'Armée.
Although you can see the Paris skyline in daytime, the glittering modern glass and steel buildings of La Defense overshadow it.
Wondering why La Defense has so many skyscrapers?
After Paris banned construction of buildings with more than 7 stories after Montparnasse Tower outraged Parisians, development of a high-rise business district move to La Defense, located just over a mile (about 2 km) from the city limits.
At night, the distant lights of the Paris skyline along with the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower are clearly visible from the top of the Arche, despite being upstaged by the glittering skyscrapers.
Thanks to the speedy Metro, you can get to the Arche from Place de la Concorde in about 10-15 minutes. It's a trip well worth making to see this dazzling view of Paris at night.
Update: Pre-pandemic, you could go to the top of The Grande Arche and see fantastic views from its rooftop terrace.
Sadly, rooftop access is now unavailable - but there's always hope for it to reopen in the future. Meanwhile, Paris views from the top of the stairs are almost as good.
12. Parc de Belleville
With an altitude of about 354 feet (108 m) above sea level, Parc de Belleville is Paris's highest park.
You'll find lots to enjoy here: award-winning gardens, expansive grassy lawns, numerous trees and flowering shrubs, a children's playground, and the Fontaine de Belleville, longest cascading waterfall-type fountain in the city.
Follow the winding paths up the park's hill until you reach the top, where a large terrace with a pavilion known as the Belvédère gives you panoramic views of the city.
On a clear day, you can easily spot the tallest monuments such as the Eiffel Tower and Montparnasse Tower, as well as others such as the Pantheon, the Arc de Triomphe, the towers of Notre Dame, and the golden dome of Invalides.
Usually the best time to view the skyline and cityscape is in the morning when the sun comes from behind you and lights up Paris as you look across the city. However, the best time to enjoy the park is in the afternoon when its west-facing hills reflect the sun.
Don't miss: The artwork of top graffiti artists on the pavilion.
Getting There:
Address: 47 Rue de Couronnes, 20th arrondissement Metros: Pyrénées, Couronnes Admission: Free
13. Paris Skyline from Trocadero
The expansive white and black marble terrace at Trocadéro, a sprawling complex known for its museums, beautiful gardens, and majestic fountains, rightly deserves its fame as one of the best locations to see the Eiffel Tower closeup with the Paris skyline in the background.
Because of the marble's reflective quality, its surface and the people walking across it become part of the landscape. Colors change based on whether the sky is clear or cloudy, and on the time that you're there.
Pro Photographer's Tip: For the most spectacular views, arrive shortly after sunrise or right before sunset.
14. Ballon de Paris - Skyline Views from a Hot Air Balloon
Hot air balloons first became popular as a way to see the city after Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette watched one float across the sky over Versailles in 1783. Although this first experimental flight carried only a sheep, a duck, and a rooster (yes, really!), humans soon followed in the Bois de Boulogne later that year.
Today, you can enjoy that same experience on the Ballon de Paris Generali, a tethered hot-air balloon filled with helium located in the beautiful Parc André-Citroën in Paris's 15th district. (Generali, in case you're wondering, is an Italian insurance company and the balloon's biggest sponsor.)
The hot-air balloon, which happens to be the largest in the world, can carry up to 30 passengers. When weather conditions are just right, it reaches an altitude of 980 feet (300 m) - almost as high as the Eiffel Tower.
You'll get 360-degree panoramic views of Paris and its famous monuments, buildings, and skyline as you go up and down. It's truly a fantastic experience!
How to book: First, check the Ballon de Paris website to see if the balloon is flying on the day you want to ride. To save time, you can buy your ticket online on the website. Once you reach the park, you'll stand in line to get a spot.
But, here's the tricky part: weather conditions can change at any time, so if this happens while you're in line, you may have to come back on another day and try again. Metro: Javel or Ballard/RER C
15. Paris Skyline Views from Seine River Bridges & the River Banks
Not only are the Seine River banks and bridges a quintessential part of the Paris skyline, but they also provide the perfect locations to see and photograph it.
Simply position yourself toward the middle of any bridge in Paris, and you'll see stunning vistas featuring other bridges, the Seine River, fantastic architecture, and (usually) famous monuments, buildings, and other attractions.
As a bonus, you'll probably see cruise boats carrying tourists, Parisians sitting along the river banks, and the interplay of colors and light between the sky and water.
Don't miss the "golden hour," that period right after sunrise or shortly before sunset when the sky begins to show soft hues and the rising or setting sun turns the city's limestone buildings to mellow shades of gold.
16. Parc des Buttes-Chaumont
Located on top of old limestone and gypsum quarries, the Buttes-Chaumont Park in eastern Paris offers expansive skyline views from its hills. Squint hard enough, and you can spot the Eiffel Tower, although the closer views of Montmartre rooftops are even better.
Once you reach the grassy slopes dotted with relaxed Parisians soaking up the views, you may lose sight of all the other reasons to come here: waterfalls, a suspension bridge, the artificial lake, caves and caverns, and its most prominent feature, the Italian-inspired Temple de la Sibelle perched on the top of a cliff.
There's even a Rosa Bonheur guinguette where you can order beer and sausages, and later in the evening, join in the dancing.
But don't miss any of these sights and experiences! The skyline views, while spectacular, are just one part of why you may want to visit Parc des Buttes-Chaumont.
17. Hotels with Skyline Views
Want to wake up to Paris skyline views and see lights sparkling across the city as you go to bed? This can be your experience when you choose the right room in the right hotel.
Pro traveler tip: Book your room, and then call the hotel to confirm your view.
Here are a few hotels to consider:
Hotel Terrass" - Perched on a peak in hilly Montmartre, most guestrooms at 4-star Hotel Terrass" offer wonderful Paris skyline views, including a few featuring the Eiffel Tower like the one above.
Pro tip: If you're budget-conscious but want to enjoy the view, book one of the cheaper rooms, and go to the top-level bar, where you'll have the same view (but a floor or two higher) than the one in the photo.
Pullman Eiffel Tower Hotel - For closeup Eiffel Tower and Paris skyline views from many rooms, this popular 4-star hotel near the edge of Champ de Mars can't be beat
The Peninsula Paris - If your budget can swing the hefty rates at this luxurious 5-star "Princess" hotel, book a guest room with unforgettable Paris cityscape views featuring the Eiffel Tower

Love it or hate it, there’s no denying that the most iconic monument in Paris, if not all of France, is the Eiffel Tower! And so when you’re visiting the French capital, one of the best things about exploring Paris is that you never know quite what you’ll stumble upon La Tour Eiffel next! Here’s your guide on where to find the 20 best Eiffel Tower views , including the best places to photograph the Eiffel Tower.
Whether you’re looking for some more offbeat locations in the city of love- but still want the Iron Lady experience – then it’s worth noting that there are plenty of unusual places to see the Eiffel Tower. Otherwise, there are always plenty of iconic Parisian rooftops from which to spy La Tour Eiffel…
If you’re looking to go up the Eiffel Tower itself, then you’ll want to book your tickets well in advance so as to save time on the day. Book your skip-the-line Eiffel Tower Direct Access with Summit Access in advance here .
#1 A Seine River Cruise

Whether it’s nighttime in Paris or the sun is shining brightly, one of the best way to enjoy the delights that Paris has to offer is to book a Seine River Cruise. Typically lasting for a couple of hours, these guided sightseeing tours give you the chance to enjoy the city from another perspective, including, of course, the Eiffel Tower!
Interested? Some of the best options include this Bateaux Parisiens 2-Hour Lunch Cruise and, for a romantic time in the evening, this 2-Hour Seine River Dinner Cruise with Options .
For those who wish to find one of the most iconic views of the Eiffel Tower (especially at night) , you need to look no further than the oh-so-Haussmannian rue Saint-Dominique.
Situated in the 7th arrondissement of the city, the prettiest view of the city is to be found at night, on the hour, every hour, when the tower glitters for a five-minute free show.
Far from the bustling crowds of Paris and high above the city, the Parc de Saint-Cloud is an oasis of calm a mere metro ride away from the city. Stroll around the gardens and wander along the long herbaceous borders.
This green space also makes for the perfect place in which to enjoy a picnic in the summer months! After all, the gardens are all that remains of a once-grand château that dominated the park.
Today, the place is a haven for cycling enthusiasts and is the perfect location to head to on a sunny day. On one particular summer visit to the park, we even managed to find wild strawberries…
Although the Georges Pompidou centre is much more famous for its abundance of modern artwork ( think Picasso, Kandinsky, and Braques to name but a few… ), the view from the top should not be missed. Situated in the very heart of Le Marais area of Paris, the centre is a great place to capture some of those iconic Parisian rooftops ( particularly at sunset ).
If you want to skip out on the museum and simply enjoy the Eiffel Tower view instead, then it’s perfectly possible to simply buy a rooftop pass (those under 26 who are residents of the EU can go for free). If you’re planning on visiting the entire complex, then purchase your Pompidou Centre Ticket here.
It may well surprise you, but one of the best Eiffel Tower pictures spots is on the Parisian metro itself. There may be a fair few metro stations below ground in Paris, but of course, the only way to see the Eiffel Tower is above ground.
And so the metro line running between Bir Hakeim and Passy should not be missed if you’re looking for unusual places to see the Eiffel Tower. The metro line is 6, between Passy and Bir Hakeim, and offers a fantastic view of the Tour Eiffel.
If you do choose to capture this image, be sure to stand with your camera at the ready as you’ll only catch a glimpse of the Iron Lady for a few seconds at most (meaning that this is one of the hardest Eiffel Tower views to capture) …
Editor’s note: the Deli-Cieux Café at Printemps is now permanently closed. Instead, in its place is a fine-dining establishment known as La Perruche. Though notably more expensive than its predecessor, the indoor and outdoor dining spaces offer stunning views of the Eiffel Tower.
If there’s anywhere I could return to over and over again to spot the Eiffel Tower from, it’s café Deli-Cieux . Situated on the roof of the Printemps department store, not far from Opera, it’s the perfect place to grab a couple of coffees, use the fast WiFi and enjoy the view; all this for less than €5.
Situated in the very heart of the 20e arrondissement of Paris, not far from the Père Lachaise cemetery, Parc de Belleville is where actual Parisians come to hang out. With a great view, its own secret vineyard and plenty of green space, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a picnic in the summer months.
I’ve said this before countless times, and no doubt I’ll say it again, but the best place to spot the Eiffel Tower at sunrise is from the Parvis de Trocadéro. Oh, and from the water mirror (Fountain of Warsaw) below. Throughout the year, the sun rises up, from behind the Eiffel Tower, filling the sky with candy colours.
Plus, if you choose to visit Trocadéro in the morning, rather than the evening, you’re sure to miss out on the crowds of tourists. For more information on how to enjoy the best sunrise view of the Eiffel Tower, check out this guide to visiting La Tour Eiffel at sunrise .
Of all the unusual places to see the Eiffel Tower in Paris, seeing the Dame de Fer from the top of the Pantheon is probably my favourite. It’s here you’ll find the iconic Fouquet’s Pendulum (or, a replica at least!), and many famous French people entombed.
One of the highest honours a French citizen can receive is to be interred in the Pantheon. The likes of Voltaire, Marie Curie and many more have all found their final resting places within the marble walls of the Paris Pantheon. For more information, check this guide to the Paris Pantheon .
There’s no denying that the best view of the Eiffel Tower in all of Paris must be from the top of the Arc de Triomphe! I’ve previously said that you shouldn’t go up the Eiffel Tower when visiting the city.
Mainly because it’s in the centre of a green space and so you can’t really see those iconic rooftops, but also partly because you can’t see the Eiffel Tower if you’re on it!
And if you’re still stuck for ideas, almost every rooftop in the city offers views onto the Eiffel Tower. There are actually laws in place preventing the construction of skyscrapers and tall buildings within the city limits.
This is why the majority of tall buildings in the city lie in La Defense area of Paris. These decrees also mean that almost every spot of the city offers good views onto the Eiffel Tower!
If you’re anything like me (self-confessed Paris obsessed), then the likelihood is that you may well have more than a few souvenirs lying around the house. Why not put that postcard in a frame and place it on your desk? Or add some French-themed stickers to your mood board?
I’ll be the first to admit that I have well and truly tried to bring Paris home to the UK with me (vintage Paris maps on the walls, Eiffel Tower bedspread, French-inspired clothing, all of the Eiffel Tower memorabilia !!)
I’ve said it before and no doubt I’ll say it again: one of the best free Parisian views can be found at the very top of the Galeries Lafayette flagship store along Boulevard Haussmann.
The rooftop terrace offers 180-degree views over the city, including onto Opera Garnier, plenty of Hausmmannian architecture, and of course views of the Eiffel Tower.
Free to visit, the terrace is open year ’round, though is closed during particularly bad weather (such as rain or snow). Visit the store itself at any time of the year and you can enjoy the stunning Art Deco cupola with its impressive stained glass window and indoor terraces.
Come Christmastime, a giant Christmas tree is erected in the heart of the central store dome, with a quirky and new theme for the tree each year.
The tallest structure in Paris (with the exception of the Eiffel Tower, bien sûr), is that from the top floor of Montparnasse Tower. Located in the 15th arrondissement of the city, this 59-floor skyscraper is pretty controversial in the city on account of how ‘ugly’ locals regard this 1960s build to be.
Though most of the tower is private, closed off to the public, and is used as office space, the top floor and the rooftop offer stunning panoramic views of the city, including a fantastic Eiffel Tower view.
Head to the top and you can enjoy a beer, a 360-degree view of the city, or simply sit back and watch the world go by. Purchase your Tour Montparnasse tickets here.
When in Paris, the one district you absolutely cannot miss is that of Montmartre . Otherwise known as the 18th arrondissement of the city, this is where visitors and tourists alike will soon discover the ‘Paris’ of old that everyone so raves about.
Between small house museums and cobbled lanes, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in this whimsical Parisian district. Not only that, but Montmartre also happens to be home to the magnificent Sacré-Coeur , and a large open space in front of the ecclesiastical building which offers stunning views over Paris, including of the Iron Lady.
A favourite among wedding photographers, Pont de Bir Hakeim is characterised by its light-filled arches and unparalleled views of the Eiffel Tower. Best seen early in the morning, when the light is as its best, this bridge also offers a viewing platform of Paris and the River Seine roughly halfway along the bridge.
Perfect to enjoy cherry blossom season in the springtime , Champ de Mars is also home to some of the best magnolia trees at the same time of the year. Popular all year round, this green space resides below La Tour Eiffel and is especially enjoyed when it comes to Parisian picnics in the summer!
Often cited to be the most beautiful bridge in the world, Pont Alexandre III is easily one of the most Instagrammable places in Paris . And not just because the sumptuous early 20th-century structure is in itself incredibly beautiful.
Instead, the bridge arches its way across the Seine and offers views of many iconic Parisian landmarks, including of Les Invalides, Petit Palais, and the Tour Eiffel.
If you’re looking for a beautiful morning walk in Paris, then you simply need to head to Avenue Rapp. Square Rapp and Avenue Rapp can be found in the heart of all the action.
Overlooking the Eiffel Tower and all Haussmannian architecture in style, this hidden gem of the 7th arrondissement is a pretty escape from the hustle and bustle of other tourist hotspots in the area.
Spanning the River Seine, the pedestrian footbridge of Passerelle Debilly was constructed in 1899 and opened just in time for the World Fair of 1900. Built so as to serve as a pedestrian footbridge connecting the two sides of the Seine, today the bridge offers one of the best Eiffel Tower views in Paris!
Editor’s note: Due to a terrible fire at Notre Dame in April 2019 , the French ecclesiastical building is closed for renovation works and repairs until further notice. However, the cathedral can still be admired from fairly up close and from various vantage points around Paris, including on Île de la Cité itself.
With its flying buttresses and world-famous gargoyles, there are few Cathedrals in France, nor indeed in Europe, quite as iconic as that of Notre Dame. Made famous thanks to a Victor Hugo novel of the 1800s, one of the best Eiffel Tower views in Paris can be found if you pay the small fee to go all the way up to the towers and enjoy the panoramic view from the top.
If you’re wondering ‘can you see the Eiffel Tower from the Seine?’ then I have great news for you! Indeed, you can enjoy views of La Dame de Fer from all along the River Seine.
The view begins from Pont Neuf and then the Eiffel Tower can be spied all the way along the banks, particularly on the right bank (rive droite) as the Eiffel Tower is located on the left bank (rive gauche).
The largest cemetery, and technically the largest park of intra-muros Paris is that of Père-Lachaise, which is to be found in the 20th arrondissement of the city.
No one quite knows how many people are interred in the graveyard, though some estimates put the figure at up to 6 million souls. As well as burials, in a little-visited corner of the cemetery, you’ll find one of the best Eiffel Tower views in all of Paris.
Situated on Place de la Concorde (the largest public square in Paris) , Hôtel de la Marine has seen plenty of history since its construction in the latter half of the 18th-century.
Once used as the headquarters for the head of the French Navy, today the grand building is open to the public once more, and several of the State Rooms offer breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower over Place de la Concorde.
Of all the bridges in Paris (and there are technically over 30) , Pont des Arts is easily one of the most famous of them all thanks to its central location and former status as the ‘love lock bridge’.
Spanning a stretch of the Seine between the Louvre Museum and the Institut de France, the bridge is one of the most beautiful spots in Paris from which to enjoy beautiful views of the Eiffel Tower.
One of the very best places to see the Eiffel Tower if you want to find a shot surrounded by Haussmann architecture is that of rue de l’Université. Situated in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, this is easily one of the most Instagrammable streets in Paris!
If you’re in search of some close up shots of the Eiffel Tower or looking for a unique back drop for a fashion shoot in Paris, then the Promenade d’Australie offers one of the most beautiful unobscured Eiffel Tower views. Located in the 15th arrondissement, this pedestrianised walkway was created in the 1940s.
If you want a fantastic view of the Eiffel Tower served alongside a delicious cocktail, then you need only to visit one of the many incredible rooftop bars dotted across Paris.
One of my all-time favourites is that of ILVOLO, which is actually on the roof of the Novotel hotel near Montparnasse in the 15th arrondissement. Though the cocktails and wines are a little on the pricey side of things, the view is well worth the price tag if you’re looking for a special occasion view.
It goes without saying that, if you truly want to experience the best of the view, then you should be sure to head to the rooftop bar at sunset so that you get to see the Eiffel Tower transform from day to night.
One of the very best Eiffel Tower photo spots is also one most beautiful streets in all of Paris . Avenue de Camoëns can be found in the 16th arrondissement of the city and can be found in the Muette district of the area. Best seen at sunrise so as to enjoy the stunning light on the Eiffel Tower, it’s truly a must-see while in the city.
One of the quieter cemeteries in Paris is Passy Cemetery, which lies on the outer boundaries of Passy and gives views onto the Eiffel Tower. The cemetery was founded in 1820 and was actually established in order to replace the former l’ancien cimetière communal de Passy .
By the latter half of the 19th-century, thanks to its position in one of the wealthiest areas of Paris, the Passy Cemetery had become a veritable necropolis for the well-to-do of the French capital.

I spotted the Eiffel in Montmarte…Outside Sacre Couer on the right side (if facing the basilica).
I also loved Parc de Buttes Chaumont it is an amazing park with amazing views as you climb the stairs that lead up to the lookout. Love the little streams that run through it & the sound on the small waterfall cascading over the rocks an amazing place & worth the visit.

The Best And Most Recognizable 'Emily In Paris' Filming Locations You Can Visit Across Europe
The Olympics and Paralympics may be over, but America's obsession with all things Paris continues to be fueled by the newly released Season 4 of the hit Netflix series "Emily in Paris." In addition to showcasing some of the most glamorous and Instagrammable locations around the city, this season took us to other stunning French destinations like Claude Monet's home in Giverny and the alpine town of Megève. We even got to visit Rome, Italy.
While there are many things that Hollywood gets wrong about visiting Paris , the city nevertheless features a remarkable number of attractions. In an interview with Tudum , Netflix's official fan site, show creator Darren Star said that in terms of location, "This season just goes way above and beyond." So if you're looking to visit the best and most recognizable "Emily in Paris" filming locations across Europe, you're in luck: You have plenty to choose from. Just make sure to avoid this common and pricey mistake when taking the metro in Paris as you explore the town.
We selected these points of interest based on accessibility, variety, and how compelling they are aside from being featured on "Emily in Paris." Therefore, even if you are traveling with companions who are not fans of the show, these sites are still worth seeing. More notes on methodology can be found at the end of this article.
Pont Alexandre III
The Pont Alexandre III is Paris' most famous bridge, and it was the location of Antoine Lambert's perfume ad in Season 1. You might also remember it from noteworthy films like "Midnight in Paris," or during coverage of the Paris Olympics' triathlon, marathon swimming, and cycling road events. The bridge was constructed at the end of the 19th century and features many architectural gems, including various bronze and copper sculptures, four candelabras, and 32 iconic lamp posts.
Pont Alexandre III stretches across the Seine, connecting the 7th and 8th arrondissements. Give yourself an hour to walk across it during the day or night to appreciate its architecture and its incredible views of the city.
Le Château de Sonnay
Camille's family estate, known as "Le Domaine de Lalisse" in the show, is a real-life castle that was built in the mid-14th century. Visit it by driving about three hours south of Paris to the Loire Valley. That's right: You won't be driving east to Champagne, which is where the château is depicted in the show.
True to form, though, the estate does feature an operating vineyard, and once you arrive, you can enjoy a bottle of award-winning wine. Still, don't get your hopes up for a dip in the pool: That scene was shot at another location. Allot for an hour or two to visit this beautiful and historic castle.
Clover Gordes
In Season 3, Emily and Gabriel dined flirtatiously over a French meal at a gorgeous fine-dining restaurant in Provence. Surrounded by the vibrant greenery of the Luberon region, Clover Gordes exists in real life, and you can visit it for an exquisite meal.
"Emily in Paris" aside, this is an experience worth pursuing. Jean-François Piège, who has been awarded two Michelin stars, is the mastermind behind the restaurant's menu, which is geared toward celebrating the merits of local produce. It is open daily for lunch and dinner service, and we suggest allotting two hours for a leisurely meal.
Château de Montpoupon
Three hours southwest of Paris lies Château de Montpoupon, a castle featured in Season 3 as the backdrop for Emily and Alfie's romantic hot-air balloon ride. One medieval keep is most of what remains of the original castle, the rest having met its end during the Hundred Years' War. The castle's current version, which was built during the Renaissance period, possesses an impressive and photogenic exterior. Its inside is equally attractive and replete with historical artifacts.
From the elaborate dining room with a fully set table to the well-stocked kitchen with traditional cheese-making appliances and over 150 copper pots, you can explore Château de Montpoupon at your leisure. You can also roam around the stables and the tack rooms.
Trevi Fountain
Season 4 takes us to another romantic European city: Rome, Italy. Here, the Trevi Fountain stands testament to the magnificent architectural trends of the 18th century. This Baroque-style fountain was originally designed by architect Gian Lorenzo Bernini, but what you see today is largely a product of Nicola Salvi's subsequent redesign. You may recognize this fountain from other shows and movies like "Roman Holiday" and "The Lizzie McGuire Movie."
Visit the fountain and make a wish at any time. To avoid crowds and rose vendors, you may want to visit at dawn or close to midnight. Google "Trevi Fountain live cam" for perspective on what crowds will look like.
Atelier des Lumières
Emily endured the thoroughly awkward experience of being Camille and Gabriel's third wheel at the Atelier des Lumières in Season 1, but there is no denying how incredible this digital art space is. Established in 2018, the Atelier des Lumières is located in the 11th arrondissement in what was once a steel foundry. The center hosts immersive and interactive exhibitions that turn walls into towering floor-to-ceiling artscapes. With music to boot, you will feel as if you have stepped into another world.
Not all exhibitions play every day. You can see available time slots and save money by booking online. We highly recommend spending a few hours here, especially if you plan to see more than one exhibit.
Gabriel's restaurant has been known by three names in the series: Les Deux Compères, Chez Lavaux, and L'Esprit de Gigi. In real life, it is an Italian restaurant called Terra Nera. You can find it in the Latin Quarter in the 5th arrondissement, little more than a stone's throw away from Place de l'Estrapade, where scenes featuring the exterior of Emily's apartment were filmed. It is also near the Panthéon, the emblematic monument visible in the background during Emily's break up with her American boyfriend in Season 1.
As seen in the show, Terra Nera is nestled in a quaint neighborhood, which you can appreciate while sipping a coffee, dining on pasta, or savoring a panna cotta. It is open for lunch and dinner service, Monday through Saturday, except on public holidays.
Musée du Louvre
The Louvre is perhaps Paris' most famous museum, housing pieces like Leonardo da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" and several sculptures by Michelangelo. Poised in the museum's courtyard is the Louvre's Pyramid. A controversial construction project of the 1980s, the Pyramid is now one of the museum's most recognizable symbols. Chances are, you'll work up an appetite walking around the massive museum. Emily, Camille, and Sylvie enjoyed lunch at Le Café Marly in Season 2, where you, too, can dine on dishes like avocado and tuna tartare and truffle raviolis with a prime view of the Pyramid.
Located in the 1st arrondissement, the museum is open most days of the year (except for Tuesdays). You will need several hours to fully see the Louvre. For a few quiet moments afterward, head to the Jardin du Palais Royal, the gardens where Emily and Mindy first bond. Also within ten minutes is Place de Valois, the location of Savoir's offices, or you can pop into the oldest, most delicious pastry shop in Paris for babas au rhum and coffee éclairs.
Palace of Versailles
By venturing 45 minutes or so west of Paris, you can see the Palace of Versailles, where Emily and Sylvie enjoyed a fashion show in Season 2. While the fashion show was located in the Hall of Mirrors, a gallery with 357 mirrors in addition to magnificent paintings, there are many other parts of the royal residence worth seeing, such as the gardens and the stables. This castle was originally a hunting lodge for King Louis XIII, but it evolved into a place for royalty to escape the stresses of society. It was even used as a place for governmental functions. Today, the palace hosts many exhibitions and events, including light shows, concerts, and ballets. Equestrian and modern pentathlon events were even held on the grounds during this past summer's Olympics.
The Palace of Versailles is open every day of the week except Monday, but the park and gardens are open daily and usually free to enter. You can purchase tickets on the palace's official website. Considering the palace's size, you might want to set aside an entire day to explore it, but Rick Steves recommends you avoid visiting Versailles on these days of the week .
In Season 3, Emily describes this church as "the most cinematic option" when helping Gabriel find a place to propose to Camille. Enter the basilica and ascend a staircase to reach the second-highest point in Paris, topped only by the Eiffel Tower. You can't miss the views inside the church, either; the Sacré-Cœur of Montmartre is home to many mosaics, including one of Jesus Christ that is larger than any other mosaic in France.
Head to the 18th arrondissement to visit the Sacré-Cœur of Montmartre. Entry is free, and you can visit any day of the year from 6:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. Plan on spending an hour here, and follow an audio tour for more information.
Claude Monet's home, Giverny
In Season 4, Camille finds refuge at Claude Monet's home in Giverny, Normandy. Specifically, we find her on a boat within the famous painter's water garden, featuring a serene, Japanese-inspired pond full of bridges, water lilies, willows, and bamboo.
To reach this relaxing garden, you will need to drive about an hour northwest of Paris. Before leaving the city, however, we recommend visiting Musée de l'Orangerie, where you can see many of the paintings that were inspired by Monet's gardens. It is best to purchase tickets to Monet's Gardens ahead of time using an online ticketing service. The gardens are open daily from late spring until early fall, and you can easily spend several hours here.
Megève is to France what Vail and Aspen are to Colorado: Ski resort towns that are gorgeous and brimming with adventure. In Season 4, we see the gang travel to Megève during the winter, but you can partake in many activities during the summer, too, like hiking and golfing.
If it is in your budget, you can stay in one of Les Fermes de Marie's chalets, just as Emily did. Megève is about six or seven hours southeast of Paris. It is deep in the Alps, in the neighborhood of Mont Blanc, and not far from Switzerland and Italy, so make it a trip worth remembering by exploring the various cuisines, landscapes, and cultures nearby!
If beaches are more your vibe, head to St-Tropez in the south of France. This coastal destination is the perfect place to relax and indulge in nights out with friends at the clubs. The city was featured heavily in Season 2, and you can visit many of the same destinations as Emily. Book accommodations at the fancy Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, sit in wonder underneath the frescoes of Chapelle Saint-Pierre, and, if you are visiting during the warmer months, soak up some sun at Club Dauphin.
If the French Riviera is calling your name, consider visiting during June or September. The water will be warm, and crowds will be more manageable, so you won't have to fight as much for space on the beach or for seats at restaurants.
The Eiffel Tower
Even if you're traveling with folks who aren't "Emily in Paris" fans, odds are, they will want to get a closer look at the Eiffel Tower. A few major scenes in Season 3 were set here, but it can be seen throughout the rest of the series in background shots. Constructed at the end of the 19th century for the World's Fair and in commemoration of the French Revolution, the Eiffel Tower was the world's tallest building for 40 years. It remains the highest building in Paris, making a trip to its top well worth the views.
The Eiffel Tower is open daily. It may sound extravagant, but you will need to set aside up to four hours to truly do this attraction justice. Also, don't forget to check out this secret spot in the Eiffel Tower, per Rick Steves .
Finally, if you find yourself just across the Seine in the 16th arrondissement, make it a point to dine at Café de l'Homme. You may recognize the restaurant from a scene shared between Emily and Antoine one glitzy evening in Season 1, and it offers a unique vantage point from which to gaze at the Eiffel Tower, day or night.
Rue de l'Abreuvoir
If you are committed to meeting your daily steps goal even while on vacation, head to the Rue de l'Abreuvoir. You will be enchanted by this charming cobblestone street, where buildings and stone walls are covered in ivy. Start your day here before crowds of other like-minded tourists arrive, then head to the nearby Sacré-Cœur of Montmartre.
Conversely, dine at Maison Rose, where Emily and Mindy shared a meal in Season 1. Famous figures like Pablo Picasso and Albert Camus were no strangers to the restaurant. You will recognize Maison Rose by its pink exterior, but you may also identify it by the many tourists taking selfies in front of the building. Because of its popularity, we recommend making reservations for Maison Rose online.
Piscine Molitor
The Molitor is much more than a place to swim; it is a social club with roots that can be traced back to 1929. Between then and now, however, the pools have seen many iterations, including a period when there were no pools at all. It may be difficult to imagine, but this hangout spot was covered in street artists' graffiti for many years when the Molitor was shut between 1989 and 2014. You can still find traces of this graffiti throughout the property.
The Molitor's modern vibes, though, are brought to life by Mindy's song "Mon Soleil," which was the soundtrack to a scene set here in Season 3. It's a chic and artsy place to spend a day by the pool, rounded out by a hotel, restaurant, and bar. Not just anyone can access the pool, however; you'll need to meet specific criteria, such as being a hotel guest or a Club Molitor member.
Père Lachaise Cemetery
Luc's always giving us a reason to chuckle with his (admittedly exaggerated and stereotypical) Parisian manners. He has sentimental moments as well, such as when he gives Emily a tour of the Père Lachaise Cemetery. Here, you can visit the graves of numerous cultural icons like Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, Marcel Proust, Frédéric Chopin, Max Ernst, and Louis Ernest Ladurée.
Entering the cemetery is free, and you can do so any day of the week. Plan on spending about an hour here. As with any cemetery, you should be respectful and refrain from loitering, having a picnic, jogging, and drinking alcohol. Combine your visit to Père Lachaise Cemetery with an outing to the Atelier des Lumières, located just 10 minutes away.
Palais Garnier
Located in the 9th arrondissement, Palais Garnier is known for its elegant architecture, as well as the operas that have graced its theater. You may recognize it as the setting for the novel and musical, "The Phantom of the Opera."
You can book a self-guided or guided tour through this opera house to admire its marble double staircase, various ceiling paintings, library-museum, and more. If you want a more thorough experience, book a ticket to see a ballet, opera, or concert. Palais Garnier has somewhat irregular opening days and hours, so make sure to book your tour ahead of time.
Passage de Choiseul
If no vacation is complete for you without a dose of retail therapy, make your way to Passage de Choiseul, where Emily is seen birthday shopping in Season 2. Even if you aren't looking to spend money, check out this covered shopping passage for its historical significance. Located in the 2nd arrondissement, Passage de Choiseul is a blend of antique and modern; it demonstrates the architectural style of the 19th century but it also underwent major renovations in 2012 before opening to the public in 2013.
This passage, which features a glass roof and is home to both shops and restaurants, is a chic alternative to this hot spot tourists should avoid shopping at while in Paris . Because it is Paris' longest covered passageway, you can easily spend hours here.
Musée des Arts Décoratifs
The scene in Season 3 where Sylvie and Madeline wear the same dress — the same scene in which Pierre Cadault announces his union with JVMA — is utterly cringe-worthy. Even so, behind all that drama is a museum with fabulous exhibitions devoted to fashion and jewelry that is well worth a visit. Here, you will find decorative art from as long ago as the Middle Ages, housed in the Louvre's west wing.
Spend a few hours at this museum, which is open most days of the year, excluding Mondays. It is recommended that you book your ticket online. You can expect crowds at the temporary exhibitions, but the permanent collection typically offers a calmer atmosphere.
Methodology
In compiling this guide, we aimed to include a variety of locations, including shopping streets, museums, and gardens. We included typical tourist stops in Paris; they are typical for a good reason and often worth visiting, despite the crowds. We also included more low-key attractions in quieter neighborhoods. By reading tourists' blogs and reviews, we were able to select these attractions and give advice on the best times to visit them.
