Lying due west of Jakarta on the northwest coast of West Java , Anyer is a popular beach area and gateway to Krakatau volcano.

It is all about the beach in Anyer, and although not the best stretch of sand on the island of Java, it has oodles of resorts and is pretty laid back. The swimming isn’t great at Anyer due to strong tides, yet the sunbathing and walking are good and it is really pretty at sunset time.

Hawkers ply Anyer Beach selling local exotic produce, such as the strange-tasting emping . One of the most popular resorts in Anyer is the called Putri Duyung resort. Trips to Gunung Krakatau go regularly from Anyer.

Getting There & Away

Flights land in Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta at Tangerang, which is just west of the capital and in the general direction of Anyer. Anyer is 2 hours west of Tangerang by road along Jalan Tol Tangerang, via Serang . Ferries also stop off at Anyer from all over Java and Sumatra .

Anyer is a district of the regency of Serang, about 30 km west of the city of Serang . The beaches of Anyer spread across the western coast of Anyer, as well as the coast of the Cinangka district to the south. While the town centre and market of Anyer are in the north of the district, near the city of Cilegon , the part of most interest to visitors is the stretch of resorts and beaches along the main road to the south. These are the areas of Anyer Kidul ( Sundanese for South Anyer) and Cinangka. However, in common usage, all of these areas are simply called Anyer.

Anyer (Dutch: Anjer ) was a significant seaport in the Dutch East Indies of the 19th century, and the western terminus of the Great Post Road . However, it was completely destroyed by the eruption of the Krakatau volcano in 1883. The cape on Anyer's western coast was during the Dutch time also known as Java's Fourth Point , counting it as the fourth main headland of Western Java's coast as counted from the south (the first two are in Ujung Kulon , and the third is Tanjung Lesung ). Nowadays, Anyer is mainly a tourist town, and the main seaport of the region is now about 25 km to the north in Merak .

The Anyer area is around two hours' drive from Jakarta if there are no traffic jams, but usually it takes about 3 hours due to traffic congestion. Taking the toll road from Jakarta to the west (towards Merak ), take the exit at KM 95 at East Cilegon ( Cilegon Timur ), and from there follow the National Road 3 along the coast to the south. This road continues further to the south to Carita Beach and the town of Labuan . Unfortunately, some roads to the Anyer beaches are not good condition: Potholes and flooded roads are common, and the poor quality of the roads is further worsened by the strain on the surface caused by the transit of heavily-loaded trucks.

To get to Anyer by public transport, you can take a silver-coloured angkot (minivan) from the centre of Cilegon , or a so-called elf (public transport minibus), that departs from behind the Grand Mosque. The tariff for the angkot is about Rp5,000 to 10,000, depending on where in Anyer you get off. Cilegon can be reached by taking any bus on the route between Jakarta and Merak, and get off at Cilegon's Seruni bus terminal near the East Cilegon motorway exit. From there, you'll need to take a purple-coloured angkot into the centre of Cilegon first (Rp3,000).

The silver-coloured angkot (public minivan) provides connection along the coast road, also further south towards Carita Beach. Other options are to rent a car or motorbike, or to hire an ojek (motorcycle taxi).

On the beach, many people sell stuff. The most popular snack for sale is emping (a cracker made of melinjo nuts). It's kind of bitter but adding salt makes it very tasty. Many beach stalls also sell kelapa , or coconuts. You can get this perfect refreshment at a cost of Rp5,000.

The Anyer area is popular with domestic visitors. Many resorts occupy the area between the highway and beach; especially immediately south of the lighthouse. The resorts are generally busy and double their rates on weekends - book in advance. Midweek, it's easy to just show up and find a reasonably-priced room. For low-cost rooms, you'll have more choices at Carita (40 minutes south on the silver angkot ).

• Anda harus menuju ke Stasiun Rangkasbitung. Dari Stasiun Rangkas Bitung lanjutkan perjalanan dengan kereta lokal jarak jauh ke Merak untuk turun di Stasiun Krenceng. Cek jadwalnya.

Cara ke Anyer naik bus

• Rute bus ke Anyer tidak mudah namun anda bisa naik bus dari terminal Pulogadung, Lebak Bulus, Kalideres atau Kampung Rambutan. Naik bus jurusan Cilegon.
• Minta turun di terminal bayangan di Cilegon atau terminal PC1. Dari sana naik angkutan umum warna ungu menuju Simpang Tiga Cilegon.
• Dari Simpang Tiga Cilegon naik angkutan ungu berwarna silver menuju Pantai Anyer. Lama waktu tempuh sekitar satu jam perjalanan.

KOMPAS.com - Anyer merupakan sebuah kecamatan di Kabupaten Serang, Provinsi Banten yang terkenal dengan gugusan pantai indah. Bagi warga Jabodetabek yang tengah mencari tempat wisata untuk libur sekolah, maka Anyer bisa menjadi alternatif.

Selain itu, ombaknya cukup tenang sehingga cocok bagi wisatawan untuk santai di tepi pantai. Lokasi Pantai Anyer cukup strategis bisa dijangkau dengan kendaraan pribadi sehingga menambah daya tariknya.

Pantai Anyer juga dikelilingi dengan batuan karang dan pohon kelapa hijau. Pengunjung juga bisa melihat panorama Gunung Rakata di lepas pantai dan mercusuar peninggalan Belanda.

2. Pantai Marbella

Pantai di Anyer selanjutnya adalah Pantai Marbella yang berlokasi di Desa Bandur, Kecamatan Anyer, Banten, Kabupaten Serang.

Uniknya, pantai ini berada tepat di sebuah hotel, yakni Hotel Marbella. Dengan lokasi yang strategis, Pantai Marbella selalu ramai wisatawan utamanya saat hari libur.

This is a beautiful resort and we had it mostly to ourselves. The beach is beautiful, and the snorkeling to see the coral was amazing, convenient and cheap. Getting there is a bit of an adventure, we rented a car and drove inland through many small towns which was nervewracking. But coming back we took the coastal highway through Anyer which was longer but then connected to main highway. For those seeking someplace off the beaten path, highly recommended! It's not luxurious but has local character and staff is attentive and food at main restaurant (open 24 hours and looking out on pool and beach) was delicious and affordable!

The Jayakarta Anyer Beach Resort become My Fav place to stay , I have been there for second visited. and will be my destination for next visited . The Location and the value of money is the best, I luv them !!!

We were surprised more to know that we have to rent the pondok there because we already paid, the facilities should be given complimentary. Beach was not really beautiful and we got distracted with the local selling and begging us for their goods. And we decided to leave, went straight to the hotel even is was not the check in time. We enter the resort and we took our lunch at the café, and check in. Seaview villa a bit smelly, but overall it was ok. Large compound for my kids to play around because we stayed in an apartment, nice swimming pool... we felt more comfortable and safe in the resort area.

Quite new hotel in Anyer, clean, excellent service and the food is very good.

Its hard to find clean place at Anyer, fortunately Mambruk has new building, and its also not overprice. They also have small sandy beach, its great for the children, they love playing there Breakfast is average overall worth for money

From my experience, this is the BEST villa in Anyer for its atmosphere and serenity. its really feels like i am alone in this villa (i came here when no other guess :) ) the pool is perfect for kids. The bedroom is good design. they said its been 20 years old building, but its still in perfect condition. Also they provide you with 24 hours refill for fresh water and coffee or tea, there is a hall in the middle of all room, you can sit there watching tv in the sofa, cooking etc. Also it feels like semi-buttler services from the staff. In the afternoon they give you "pisang goreng" for free, in the morning the cook you nasi goreng or mie goreng for breakfast. next to the property there is a public beach, the beach if fine. one thing you have to know that this area abit far from other famous hotel so if you looking for nearby food its a bit though. So you better order it from the villa (taste good, but expensive) or you bring raw material from Jakarta so you can cook it there.

Worth the trip from Jakarta; the only negative was in the daily traffic jam at Anyer which adds at least one hour to the normal 2.5 hour trip. An alternate route, although longer, is available, but unknown to most travelers and drivers.

The hotel is huge with a nice swimming pool at the back yard which is open until night. The amenities are little bit old fashion, however they still work well. We had a simple menu of breakfast, they were very delicious. In summary, the hotel gave us an optimal services according to the price.

Best view, spacious house and value for money

too pricey for hotel with 2 stars and we don't even get breakfast for the price/night (idr 800.000 ++). the bathroom have no hot water. when rain, rain water leaked into the room through main door. lot of big ants also invaded our room. overall, the experience we got compare the price we have to pay, was not worthed at all.

When ordering for coffee, they informed us they ran out of coffee. As the resort is located past middle of nowhere, we asked to get a taxi to go to town/supermarket. We were informed there is no taxi and hotel transport only can drive us up to main gate. After a lot more blablabla, they managed to let us use the van guy who drove us up from Jakarta (at a few of course). 2nd day breakfast, coffee was there and somehow they also managed to get cornflakes, milk and some jams. We have been using the hotel pool for a few days, (same resort and reception, but somehow cannot charge to room and need to pay cash (no big deal but annoying if u have a drink/snack by pool). On the 3rd day we asked as previous day for a towel at pool and were told we CANNOT get towel as we stay at villa section and not hotel, although we received towel first 2 days, why?? Don't know. Ok, now recreation, we used jet ski which was ok, speedboat out of order so no banana or doughnut race available. Also snorkeling for kids not possible as only have adult mask. So we tried the ATV (4 wheel motor cycle), first one locked up after 5 minutes and would not start anymore so had to walk back for 15min. Second one the chain flew of after 2min so got our money back and forget about is. We booked 5 notes but changed to 4 and luckily hotel accepted and have a refund.

I highly recommend this place for quite a number of reasons, not least being the wonderful manager Ms Sindi and her husband who patiently made a lot of effort and went to lot a of trouble to organise my trip to Anak Krakatau, to show me around and were both very attentive hosts and wonderful company. The room I stayed in (like the rest of complex from what I could see) was very clean and well-maintained. It’s located on the main road behind the beach, but in a landscaped garden area making it very peaceful. The beach is across the main road and down a pathway not far from the entrance. The price I found very reasonable as a solo traveller, especially for the quality of service and accommodation, and would be excellent if shared between two people. I would absolutely return to Aramdalu if I come back to this coast.

I'm really sorry to see the decline in Marbella over the 15 years since I first stayed there, when it was indeed a 5-star hotel (it was managed then by an international hotel chain). It is now under Indonesia management and very little investment has been made for many years. Actually, the same goes for almost all the hotels in Anyer and Carita. They are the nearest beaches to Jakarta (excluding the Thousand Islands), and so have a captive market. Almost all of them, including the Marbella, were built before the age of cheap air travel took off in Indonesia. Since then, the upper end of the market has disappeared as middle-class Indonesians now often prefer to holiday overseas. As a result, Marbella's clientele now tends to be dominated by the lower end of the market. Thus, foreign visitors may find themselves disturbed by constant staring, the ever prevalent chorus of "Hello Mister", and the all-pervasive whiff of kretek cigarettes. The beach is crowded with quite aggressive hawkers, and is lined with unsightly shacks selling snacks and rubbishy beach gear. It's also dirty and little or no attempt appears to be made to keep it clean. Nevertheless, it's empty during the week, when it can still provide a good getaway from Jakarta.

Anyer is a place to chill! if you're looking for nightlife, this is not the place for you. If you're looking for some peaceful, relaxing and solitude you should visit Anyer.

And the food there is heaven. We tried a few local shop and we were intoxicated with seafood..:D The shop i highly recommend are Wareong Elbe somewhere along Markassar & Markassar which is located right in front of Mambruk Hotel. Overall we preferred Waroeng Elbe. We had so much of Cumi-which is squids in their language & Kepiting(crab). The prawns are really fresh too! Overall we loved everythin!

Anyer overall is a nice place to visit with group of friends or family. You can find white sand beach all along the road, outdoor activities like banana boat is also available.

For those who drives there your own, its easy to travel because there is only one road there and in a very good condition. What lack of Anyer is not many food stall / restaurant available outside the hotels, and if there is, the prices are very expensive and doesnt taste that good. For those who likes shopping, they have several souvenir stores that sell local products such as t shirts, etc.

Traffic is quite bad towards the city. Should've think about the accessibility to grow the city into tourism area.

I find it a quiet town since we went their on a weekday with less cars or tourist on the road which was certainly a great way to go around and we had the pool and beach head all to ourselves.

Anyer is good city for holiday specially for the beach lovers, if you had been goes to bali you can get different experience at anyer.

The environment more quietly so it is god for family or couples travelers. It took 2 hours from Soekarno Hatta International Airport, you can use DAMRI Bus or taxi but for the best value i recomended for using DAMRI Bus as a shutle bus.

Anyer is a small town with a great beach, it located not far from Jakarta busy town. To go to Anyer, it only takes 3 to 4 hours driving from J-town, depends on the traffic and quality of the road.

But basically its a great place to get away for a while from the busy J-town. Anyer also has many nice with a reasonable price Seafood restaurants. Highly recommend this place :)

Beaches, sun, friendly people, seafood are all enjoyable. Bring your bikes so that you can sightseeing along the kong sea-side or the road and find nearby restaurant easily.

Anyer is location on Banten, acces about 2 hours from Jakarta. very nice beach, have water sport like banana boat, jetsky, etc.

The seafood are very cheap and delicious.

When traffic is good, it's very close to Jakarta for a good weekend getaway. I suggest minimum stay of 2 nights for doing water activities and a bit of relaxation time.

If you are more adventerous you can try canoeing, jetskiing and parasailing. In Marbella Hotel, there's a water activities center where you can find various activities including snorkling in some surrounding islands using motor boat. Riding ATV is also cool, for Rp50,000 you can ride for 25 minutes. You can find some quite good food in Anyer. But I dont recommend buying seafood from stalls on the beach unless you are expert in examining the raw ones. Otherwise you will be disappointed because it's not that fresh. There's Sup Ikan Tatakan, it's clear sour broth is nice. They also have very good beef satay. There are some chinese food restaurant too, we ate at 9 Sembilan and it's quite good value for your money.
