Vineyard & Winery Tour at Treehouse Vineyards

Please join us for our special Vineyard & Winery Tour at Treehouse Vineyards in Monroe, NC on Wednesday, November 17, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. Whether you are a grape grower or a winemaker or are just getting into the business of muscadines, this is an in-person opportunity to grow your skills and knowledge. While this event is oriented towards current and prospective professional winemakers and muscadine growers, home growers and home winemakers (and others) are welcome to attend. REGISTER HERE.

• Winery Tour & Discussion – Learn about the winery’s practices and essential lab equipment and winemaking equipment. Learn about the winery’s management and marketing
• Vineyard Walk – This is an older vineyard in need of renovation and renewal. NCSU Grape Extension Specialist Mark Hoffmann will share his observations and recommendations for sites like this as well as provide seasonally appropriate information and recommendations relevant to all muscadine vineyards.
• Introduction to Wine Judging  –  Learn to evaluate your wine, and other wines. Led by experienced wine judges Chuck Blethen and Alan Staton.
• Talk and network  informally with other winemakers and grape producers

Muscadine winemakers are invited to bring sample bottles of their own wines to include in the wine judging session and sample at lunch. This is not a competition — it’s a chance for informal feedback!

This event is part of the NC Muscadine Winegrowers and Winemakers Quality Enhancement Program (M-QEP), funded by the NC Wine & Grape Council. North Carolina growers/winemakers are also eligible to receive a free Brix refractometer at this event.

Fee & Registration:  $20/person, includes lunch and refreshments.  REGISTER HERE.   Late registrations are being accepted, but lunch may not be available for last-minute registrants.

“Introduction to Wine Judging” will be led by Chuck Blethen, Jewel of the Blue Ridge Vineyard, Marshall, NC and Alan Staton, Cabin Creek Vineyard, Zirconia, NC. Both are experienced wine judges and trainers. Chuck is currently working with several organizations to develop judging criteria specifically for muscadine wines. In this session, participants will learn how wine judges work, the various faults & flaws found in wines, how to detect them, probable causes, possible corrections, and how wine judges have to report each of them, and will have an opportunity to evaluate wines brought to the event.

1 Childress Vineyards

2 Grassy Creek Vineyard & Winery

The historic Klondike Cabins at Grassy Creek Vineyard & Winery near Elkin feature cabin experiences paired with Grassy Creek’s Yadkin Valley wines. The large main log cabin has four bedrooms, two baths, large entertainment and dining areas, full kitchen, antiques and artwork, a covered porch overlooking the lake and the lake, and more. Playhouse and Hanes log cabins come as two-bedroom and two-bath duplexes, with a game room replete with pool table, bar, TV and stereo. Satellite TV is available throughout the cabin complex. A few miles away, Elkin Creek Vineyard also offers four intimate creekside cabins.

3 Shelton Vineyards

The Hampton Inn and Suites at Shelton Vineyards is the only hotel in the well-respected chain that features a wine bar. Conveniently situated up the road from the vineyard, the hotel features a variety of room options (including whirlpool suites), complimentary breakfast, meeting space, free high-speed internet access, and the very popular wine bar, open every evening.

4 Banner Elk Winery & Villa

Situated in the High Country, Banner Elk Winery & Villa is a luxury bed and breakfast 2 miles from the town of Banner Elk. With names like Zinfandel Suite and Seyval Blanc Suite, the Tuscan-inspired Villa features eight unique suites, with king or queen beds, fine linens, plush robes, Jacuzzi tubs and beautiful mountain views. Villa guests can also enjoy coffee, tea, pastries and fresh fruit in the mornings. Large groups can rent the entire villa, perfect for special occasions such as reunions and weddings.

5 Roaring River Vineyards

Sip wine and listen to the Roaring River for a calming getaway in the High Country. The lodge at Roaring River Vineyards offers several suite sizes with a full kitchen, dining and living rooms, or you can stay tucked away in the Serendipity Cabin. Escape down to the riverbank to explore the mills history of the land that dates back to 1870. The vineyard also features hiking trails, outdoor games, a private beach and fishing for guests.

6 Inn on Biltmore Estate

The Inn on Biltmore Estate offers you a unique ticket to a luxurious Vanderbilt-like stay at Biltmore’s 8,000-acre estate in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Inn consistently ranks as one of the world’s best hotels and you can enjoy a variety of experiences, including the exclusive Land Rover Experience Driving School, horseback riding, fly fishing, shooting clays, biking, indulgent spa services and gourmet dining. 7 Medaloni Cellars

Nestled on 20 acres in the Yadkin Valley, Medaloni Cellars offers tours and a few different types of wine tastings featuring a sampling of various reds and whites. Up the romance factor when you rent one of its two different accommodations designed specifically for couples only: a rustic-chic cabin or a treehouse. Enjoy a complimentary bottle of wine with an overnight stay, then take your time strolling the grounds hand in hand.

8 Treehouse Vineyards

Treehouse Vineyards , 40 minutes southeast of Charlotte, is aptly named for treehouses adjoining the property. Papa’s Dream Treehouse is the perfect getaway for two in a secluded setting overlooking the vineyards. Amenities include a queen bed in the loft, kitchenette, sitting area, bathroom with shower and a deck with a grill. Treehouse Vineyards also features the rustic Date Night treehouse (can be rented for an afternoon or evening to enjoy views from the porch 30 feet in the air) and Horsefeathers Hideaway treehouse (sleeps up to six).

9 The Country Squire

Located between the historic Duplin County towns of Warsaw and Kenansville, The Country Squire Restaurant, Inn and Winery features two types of accommodations options. The Vintage Inn offers 12 motel rooms with bucolic views of the grounds and vineyard, while the Guest House features four charming rooms with private baths and furnished with antiques and Scottish tartan themes. The Country Squire operation is family-owned and -operated and has been serving guests for more than 60 years.

Enjoy a relaxing afternoon or evening on the porch of our rustic Date Night Treehouse! From 30 ft. in the air you can enjoy a wonderful view overlooking the vineyard with a glass of wine. Our Date Night Treehouse porch accommodates up to ten adults. 

Booking Information

Saturday Rentals have a minimum booking requirement of 2 hours. 

Rental Times and Rates :

Sunday-Thursday: 12pm-6pm

$50 per hour. No minimum booking requirement.

Fridays & Saturdays: 12pm-10pm

$50 per hour. 2 hour minimum on Saturdays.

Your reservation starts ON the hour. Please arrive 15 to 20 minutes early for the check in process. Treehouse Vineyards staff are not responsible for any time lost during the check in process. Guests are expected to be cleaned up and ready to exit 15 minutes prior to the end of their reservation time in order to allow for adequate transition time between reservations .   Late arrivals will forfeit the time lost from their reservation and will still be expected to be ready to come down at the expected time.

Special Considerations

*Rental time is inclusive of any set up or clean up. Guests are responsible for disposing of any trash accumulated during the rental into the marked garbage bins. Guest Rental Time ends 15 minutes prior to the end of booking in order to allow for adequate transition time between reservations.   

*Saturday Rentals require a minimum booking of 2 hours.

*If rental time is during a scheduled event with a cover charge, guests are responsible for paying the cover charge.

*The maximum number of guests allowed in the treehouse at one time is 10 people due to weight restrictions.

*The treehouse is rustic and rugged and you will be outdoors.

*Picnics are welcome but no outside beverages are allowed, including water. We reserve the right to check coolers. A $250.00 penalty fee will be charged for any outside alcoholic beverages brought onto Treehouse Vineyards’ property.  

*There is no restroom or running water in the tree house, guests will need to use the restrooms located in the gift shop. 

*There are a significant amount of steps to climb.

*Please dress according to the weather for your comfort. During winter months, we recommend dressing in layers and bringing a blanket

Cancellation Policy:

A 48 hour notice of cancellation is required for refunds. Failure to give a 48 hour notice will result in loss of payment.
