We stopped in here during our weekend and Rocky and didn't regret it! My partner and I received wonderful service and very large subs. One thing is that I could not see the prices of the subs on the menu board, it is possible I... missed them however. Between the two of us we spent just under $20 if that helps! The subs were very good, lots of bread so be prepared to save some for later like I did! Everything was fresh which is a very big plus. More

Insanely soft bread. Ridiculously tasty mayonnaise. And a fantastic selection of toppings. I've had more Nemo's subs than I care to admit, not once have I ever been disappointed by the quality of the food. The stores are always spotless and the service is always... so friendly and cheerful. Just an absolutely wonderful local option that continues to deliver awesome food. More

We were passing through Rocky and attended the North shop. We received great old school service and the subs were fresh and delish! They are very filling but my partner said it was perfect for him!

Moving away to Melbourne, I still haven't found an equivalent to Captain Nemo's!! I have to go and visit every time I fly home, getting my favourite combo - the Sunshine sub with egg. Sounds odd, but it's amazing! Their bread is always soft and... fresh. You know it's fresh when if they run out for the day, that's it - no more subs. Their house mayo is also amazing. It makes the subs that extra bit special. More

There are two Captain Nemos in Rockhampton, one on each side of the town, pretty accessible, and also take phone orders which is great if... you are just travelling through or grabbing something on a break. Captain Nemo's has been around for decades and while thier stores have shifted and updated over the years, the product remains the same. They serve fresh sandwhich roles on the best bread with thier own special dressing. They were around long before Subway came to... town and will probably be here long after they close down. My all time fave is the Super Sub, basically a ham and salad roll, but like none you have tried before. Whenever I return to Rocky Nemo's is the first place I visit. If they ever franchise it'll be one less reason to come home! More

Service is great- staff are really friendly. The subs are what they have always been.... HUGE is the only way to describe them. My favourite is Roast Beef or Sunshine. I just wish they had my tables, to eat there!! More

Yes it's a big sub with soft bread rolls full of standard salads and lots of Mayo. This alone would make this a filling and healthy choice for lunch. The opening hours make it really only a breakfast and lunch choice. The ladies who man... the store are friendly and efficient, but more than that they are welcoming. The theme subs, as the venue name suggests, are nautical and most people will find a sub to suit (my favourite is the Sunshine). The venue is a little tight for space inside but they have two tables outside for dining. My partner particularly loves this place when she's feeling hungry and I suspect you will too, for taste, price & convenience. More

The world of Captain Nemo brought to life in new Mystic Seaport exhibit

Mystic — From now through September 2, visitors to Mystic Seaport Museum can look through Captain Nemo’s belongings, drive his submarine, the Nautilus, climb up into the conning tower and slide down the escape hatch.

“There’s a ton of content in here, so I think anyone young at heart is really going to enjoy this,” said Emma Ballenas, exhibits and special projects coordinator at the museum.

Voyage to the Deep — Underwater Adventures, the family-oriented exhibit opening Saturday in the Collins Gallery in the Thompson Exhibition building, takes visitors inside the imagination of Jules Verne and immerses them in the world of his novel “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.”

Centered around a walk-through, interactive model inspired by Captain Nemo’s Nautilus, the “high-touch, high-interaction” exhibit primarily targets children 10 and younger, but is designed to appeal to older children, parents and adults as well.

The traveling exhibit was produced by the Australian National Maritime Museum in 2014 and is touring internationally by exhibition company Flying Fish.

Everything in the exhibit is made to be touched. There are ladders to climb, drawers to open, lockers to sift through, ship’s wheels to spin and games to play while visitors explore and “operate” Nemo’s Nautilus.

However, the exhibition goes beyond just a fun hands-on exhibit for young children.

Informative panels in Spanish and English throughout the exhibit incorporate an educational component, introduce new vocabulary and inspire creativity, and, as Ballenas pointed out, help parents to engage their children in a creative and fun learning environment.

Ballenas said the museum consistently tries to develop exhibits that appeal to a wide range of visitors, but is always looking to better serve families with younger children that visit the museum.

“This is really the perfect opportunity to have something for the summer that’s just fun and interactive and really family friendly,” she said, noting the air-conditioned space will provide a reprieve from summer heat while parents sit and watch their children explore from the seating spread throughout the space.

Additionally, the museum incorporated a small reading area with several versions of Verne’s deep-sea tale adapted for children and similarly themed books, including several in Spanish and a dual Braille and English children’s book.

The exhibit also offers sensory kits for children to use. The kits include fidget toys for children who may need extra sensory input and noise canceling headphones for children who may need to reduce sensory input.

The exhibit is open during museum hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, and is included in the price of admission to the museum.

Location and contact.

The subs are good but as is typical for Rocky, the place closes at 330pm. It would be good if they stayed open until 500-530pm so we could pick up a sub for dinner. Here in Rocky, most of the place that serve good food... close after lunch which leaves the rubbish takeaway and fast food chain restaurants. Blah! More

Great sandwiches. The ladies there were friendly. Helped me decided on some lunch options. Very filling. Why haven't I been there sooner? Cheers

Very popular at lunchtime for sandwiches and subs. There's a small parking area out front and it's next to Centrelink.

I am a regular customer but will no longer be purchasing anything from the north side store absolutely terrible service right down to the eye roll I received after having to go back because they stuffed up my order I’m not the sort to winge... but the disgusting attitude I was met with when asking for a replacement due to allergies was appalling!! Will not be retuning ! More

I have been enjoying Captain Nemo's Subs intermittently since the 90's, and I still love 'em. These guys were making subs for Rockhampton residents long before the arrival of the Subway corporate franchise. They use locally made fresh bread rolls, (which can be a bit... thick and you may suffer bread overload), the ingredients are fresh and it is made before your eyes from a set menu. I enjoy the Super sub, but there are many other options available.Service is always friendly. I recommend getting any sub WITH the mayo and the special dressing, its worth it for that creamy,tangy flavour . There is one store on each side of the city of Rockhampton, and they also cater for functions etc. They lost something in flavour many years ago when they ditched the sesame seeded rolls, but thats just my opinion. It a must eat when you come to Rocky, if you order the full sub, I wouldnt eat breakfast beforehand, you will be very full for many hours afterwards. Recommend the half sub, Super Sub, Marco Polo, or the hot one with mince and melted cheese which name I cant recall. More

If you want to avoid the usual Big4 takeaway rubbish in Rockhampton, give these guys a go. Very tasty variety of subs with some seriously decadent mayo! Staff were lovely and helped out with a few questions we had about the region.

Nemo's is hands down the best sandwich sub place in Oz! Their secret recipe mayo is the BEST, and the fillings are simple but soooo tasty! WARNING: if you do not enjoy lots of bread, do not go here, its for a big carb fix... with a touch of salad, and a heap of meat! Have been going here all my life, and it always hits the spot - I love that its a local shop too. More

If your looking for a quick lunch or even a snack at great prices and delicious flavours then this place is for you. Located on the main street, easy parking for your conscience and quick service too!! You'll come back again for tasty rolls salads... and drinks, so why not give it a try. More

I live in Japan and have been dying to come back for years and eat the best subs I've ever had anywhere. Big statement sure but I wasn't disappointed. As a local friend said, Captain Nemo's is a Rockhampton icon. Loved the fact that it... was so busy while a well known "sub sandwich" chain across the road wasn't doing as well. Even if you're just passing through Rockhampton, make sure you stop off here. More

Captain Nemos have been making delicious Subs for the lucky people of Rockhampton for over 30 years, and they were here before Subway arrived years ago. Dont expect Subway style subs, these babies are big!! The rolls are freshly baked locally or you can have... toasted style melts. Every Sub has a nautical theme, e.g Nautilus, Super Sub, Neptune and many more. The bread roll is quite thick so allow time to eat a half size. A full one would keep you going all day, if you could possibly eat it all!! Ask for the special sauce and dressing together to get that delicious slightly sogginess through your sub. Recommend the Super Sub, ,it has 2 different meats I think, with salad. The staff are awesome and friendly and the service is prompt. Expect a wait if you dont phone order ahead in the lunch rush. There will be a line of hungry customers. More

This place is bit of a Rockhampton institution and rightfully so. Nemo's always makes amazing food that you are never disappointed with. The staff are wonderful, always friendly and happily accommodating. If you are in Rocky during the day, want a quick lunch that will... fill you up for a very good price, you wont regret stopping in at Nemo's. More

The most beautiful salad roll with meat selections you could ask for and add the divine egg mayo and you couldn't get anything more scrumptious

Love the girls in here. Share a full sub or tackle it on your own. Fresh and better than subway. Great value for money..

The ladies working here are super-quick with their service and very friendly. The food is always fresh and a perfect size for lunches.
