More Information

natalie jean tour

Natalie Jane has the kind of powerhouse voice that makes the most intimate emotions feel larger-than-life. As shown on past hits like “AVA”—one of her first singles since signing with 10K Projects/Capitol Records—the New Jersey-raised, Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter matches her massive vocal talents with soulful sensitivity and unapologetic attitude, a dynamic she’s embodied since self-releasing her own music in high school. That's particularly true of "I'm Good," her defiant collaboration with fellow star charlieonafriday.

Growing up in Woodcliff Lake, Natalie Jane first discovered the phenomenal strength of her voice as a little girl, thanks in large part to the encouragement of her family including an aunt who’s an opera singer. Along with singing in musicals and learning to play piano, she started writing her own songs at the young age of eight. Naming big-voiced singers like Bishop Briggs and Adele among her top inspirations, she later began heading into New York City to work with a producer who helped to sharpen her hypnotic approach to pop music.

Natalie Jane Wants You To Scream Her Songs

The 19-year-old is taking over FYPs, one powerful riff at a time.

Last November, American Idol Season 18 alum Natalie Jane started her morning the same way she usually does. She set an alarm for 6:30 a.m., briefly awoke to post a video to her TikTok, and went back to sleep. Little did she know, when she’d get up a few hours later, her life would be forever changed.

The 16-second-long video is perhaps mostly nondescript . Jane stands beside her friend and fellow artist Geena Fontanella in an empty parking garage with the track for Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” playing on a portable speaker in the foreground. Jane belts out the first few lines of the song before nailing an intense riff and shouting “Whoa.”

“It took at least 40 tries,” Jane tells Elite Daily. “I could tell [Geena] was on the verge of saying ‘Nope, Natalie, not today. We’re not going to get it today.’ So that’s why when I did the riff and screamed, it was [because] it was the first time I ever did it. It was pure shock and very, very exciting at the moment.”

Now, almost a year later, she has garnered more than 8.2 million fans on TikTok alone, has finished her debut album, and is set to go on her first-ever European tour (which is almost entirely sold out, BTW). Oh, and she’s only 19 years old. “It’s kind of been a bit of a roller coaster, honestly. … It was really wild to see everything happen so fast,” she says.

With 140 million views and counting, Jane’s video went on to become an empowering trend for people to share different aspects of their talents that surprised them and it even earned her a spot in the Spotify studio alongside CeeLo Green himself .

Now labelmates with her former American Idol judge Katy Perry (Jane made it to the Top 40 in Season 18 when she was 15 years old), the singer’s life looks completely different than it did even just a few months ago. These days, she’s singing “Praying” with Kesha in the parking garage that made her famous, promoting her new single “Do or Die ” on TikTok (the song came out Aug. 25), and gearing up for a fall tour with Bishop Briggs that kicks off in September.

After graduating high school on the East Coast, Jane made a rather unexpected decision to pack up her life and move to Los Angeles in 2022. While Jane’s been singing since she was a baby, posting singing videos to social media since she was 13, and songwriting since she was 15, her choice to forgo college and move across the country wasn’t the so-called traditional path her parents, or her siblings, followed.

“It definitely took [my parents] some convincing to allow me to not go to school and move out here,” she says. “It was definitely an adjustment, but I think they’re happy now.”

And they should be. Jane went from knowing three people in the L.A. area to forming her own community of fellow artists and TikTok stars who frequently make cameos in her videos, including Briggs , Sadie Jean , and David Lee . It’s a testament to how Jane uses social media to not only build her brand but also to form relationships with her fans. From panda jokes (her favorite animal is a panda, and she often asks her fans to leave panda emojis as comments on her videos) to a personal phone number her followers can text her on, Jane is dedicated to forming authentic connections with the people around her.

“I want the people that follow me to not just be people that watch me on a screen; I want them to feel like they kind of know me,” Jane says. “I’ll go live a lot just doing my makeup, or ... I’ll text them or I have a Discord with all of them, and it’s really fun.”

Now, when she meets people at her shows, she knows a few of them by name. The “Natalians” — her fan name is still being workshopped — shower her with panda emojis when she’s live on TikTok and even bring her panda-themed gifts when they meet her IRL.

I’m just trying to create an environment where people can sing or scream these songs and make them feel empowered and make them feel like ‘Oh, I don’t need this person in my life.’

Still, it’s not just Jane’s forthcoming personality that sells out shows and gets her millions of views on TikTok. In addition to writing and co-writing most of the songs on her debut album — which was nearly two years in the making — Jane brings an energetic, unapologetic, and refreshing vibe to the pop music genre.

“I’m just trying to create an environment where people can sing or scream these songs and make them feel empowered and make them feel like ‘Oh, I don’t need this person in my life’ and help them move on,” she says. Jane goes on to describe much of her new music as a group therapy session with super intense love songs that give off “Harley Quinn, Joker vibes.”

“People can expect a roller coaster of emotions and anger, but it'll settle at some point. It’s just going to be listening to my thoughts over the course of the past two years,” Jane teases of her upcoming album. “I’m trying to make it sound really cinematic. … I’m just dramatic, and I think it’s the best for screaming in your car. I think it’s funny, because my friends say [I give off] ‘happy little unicorn vibes,’ and then my music is the complete opposite of my personality. It’s dark and intense.”

But that’s exactly what she intends. Just as you associate Mariah Carey with whistle-tone love songs, Jane wants to be known for the vigor she brings to her own music. She’s constantly singing while cardio training to make sure she can run around and jump with the crowd when she’s on stage. She wants her fans to feel like they could go cliff-jumping or have a jolt of adrenaline while seeing her perform live, or even listening to her music in the gym. Something that gets your heart pumping and the passion within you ignited.

While Jane’s basically taken over For You pages everywhere, her career’s only getting started. This time next year, she wants to plan another tour and connect more with her fans.

“That’s my favorite part of everything, more than social media and writing, is I like being on the stage and singing with people and putting on a show,” she says. “Once I’m on stage and you can see people's faces singing the songs that you created, you know in that moment, that's the best feeling.”

THE OFFICIAL HOLBROOK BROOKLYN TOUR!

These pictures are stunning! (Love Huck's shirt!)

Hmmmm- I see we don't wear our garments anymore

You are kidding me, Renee! Seriously??

hmmm, I see you have a mote in your eye.

Not that it's at all anyone's business, but I am. That is a perfectly modest outfit where are you getting that?

Natalie you inspire me! You always dress fabulously. Thank you.

I'm not Mormon (and a little confused, but I looked it up) and I have to say it seems more immodest to ask someone about their underwear...on the internet. This outfit is total class.

He has a Huck-a-saurus tshirt! He uses chopsticks! I love your kid.

Walking across the Brookyln Bridge was one of my most favourite NYC experiences...you're so lucky to be able to do it whenever you like.

I'm so jealous of you living in NYC and Huck is just adorable : ). Xx

OMG his little red shorts are so cute :)

love the dots on spots look! and that sushi makes my mouth water...

Beautiful family photos! Ur son's shirt is cute, there's even his name Huck on it ;)

that bridge shot is amazing. You have a gorgeous wee family!!!

my boyfriend is about to move to brooklyn and i am excited to get to know it better! one of my favorite things to do is walk across the brooklyn and i am absolutely going to try that sushi place. thanks for the tour holbrook family ;)

This is awesome!! You're so good at finding new things. I need to be better at exploring my own city. PS. Your skirt is fantastic!

Yay, glad you made it back to Brooklyn!

exploring new places is the best. the sign for brooklyn is lovely better than 'allonby, please d i e carefully' (someone picked off the 'r' and 'v' of drive.

adorable photos! www.modernsuburbanites.blogspot.com

i LOOOOOOVE that ice cream shop!! (hate the typical endless line though) and that welcome to brooklyn sign is adorable.

three cheers for crossing the river! you guys were so close to our tiny abode, too!

I LOOOOVE Huck's shirt. Did you make it yourself? Where did you get it?

"Huck-O-Saurus" ... love it!!

fantastic photos!

Do you ever read Mo Willems books to Huck? My little guy loves him. There's one, "Knuffle Bunny" (plus 2 sequels) that takes place in Brooklyn and he mixes his artwork with b&w images of Brooklyn. I bet Huck would enjoy! Mama too; his books are super cute.

Great photos. Yes, ice-cream is the new health food.

Ahhh! That shirt is ADORABLE.

So fun! I was in New York for like 24 hours earlier this year and walking across the Brooklyn Bridge was amazing. P.S. I know one of the owners of the Gran Electrica taco place you put up there! He is my husband's cousin's husband. Does that even make sense? :)

Natalie! I love your outfit! I may not be able to recreate the Brooklyn tour anytime in the near future, but I have got to recreate that outfit!

HIS SHIRT! love it :)

oh man how i wish i lived there, it looks like such a fun time- i'd probably go on that tour everyday :) and you take such amazing pictures- you really have a knack for capturing moments. And that sushi looks aaaaamazing

looks so fun! I'm totally craving sushi now- only two more months before this prego can have it again! Yes!

Adorable family alert!! This post made me wish I lived in NY! xo

haha ice cream is the new health food! I need to frame that and have it on my wall

next time i visit nyc i am going to brooklyn. fact.

Do you mind me asking where you got your t-shirt from? I love it

I'm tucking this little tour away for when I finally get myself to New York City!! Oh, and Huck's shirt is pretty awesome.

I can't even handle how cute Huck is! Especially looking at the water taxis, like "hey I'm ready to go!!"

lovely pictures! Your outfit is darling!

Fun post! You should call it the Holbrooklyn Tour!!

Your outfit is super cute (and modest) and I'm dying over Hucks shirt! Did you get that made for him? I love it!

great pics and huck's shirt-yessss!!

Adorable! I love Huck's shirt! The Holbrook trio seems to be having some great trips recently.... :)

That outfit is killing it! Great pics!

i want to go on the holbrook tour. this all looks like so much fun! and i love huck's dinosaur shirt. too cute!!! xo TJ

Regarding that garment comment: if I wore a shirt that low-cut, you'd see, like three inches of my garments. Seeexxxxyy. But that's because I have gross third-trimester boobs I've started to consider carrying around in the crook of my arm. You know those wheeled platforms for dogs whose back legs don't work? I'd take one now for the front half of my body. A large platform for baby with an upper shelf for the girls. UGH. But it just goes to show, when you're on the petite end of the spectrum garments will be A LOT more forgiving.

Garments: like everything else in the church, it's up to you to decide how to fit them into your life. Same goes for thoughts, attitudes, entertainment, beverages (I just finished my THIRD diet Coke of the day), entertainment and its ratings, etc. It's a lot more fun to eyeball others' choices rather than our own! But in the end, our choices are strictly between us and the Lord. And there's nothing to be gained by speculating on others' choices and the Lord's opinion of them. You do know, though, that I hate you and your skinny little body right now, seeing as I weigh 15 pounds more than I did six months ago, right? ;)

Can you please do a tutorial on how you get that much of a blurred background on images where there is a fairly large focused area (ie. where you're standing)? I can only manage it when I take a picture of online sombodies head... and I have a similar camera (Canon T3) and the same lens (you still use the 50mm 1.8?).

I absolutely love your photos. You have such an artistic eye. I always thought anyone with a good camera could take good pictures...then I got a good camera and realized that wasn't the case!

I love his Huck a Saurus t-shirt!! So cute! That sushi looks awesome too.

Looks so fun!

I was just there! The Brooklyn Bridge was one of my favorite things in New York. Your photos are GORGEOUS. You really did the bridge justice. And it helps that you are much cuter than I am in your pictures! :) What a fun day-- thanks for sharing.

huck-o-saurus! I love it! And I agree that ice cream is the new health food.

This looks so fun! :) http://bronsonbloopers.blogspot.com

i just have to say, you had, in the past, commented on your inexperience in the way of photography; but bravo for the self-taught! these photos are lovely! www.everywhimandnotion.com

I am going to NYC next week so thank you for this post. I have never been to Brooklyn and so now it's on my list to visit. Also, you rock those polka dots so well! Hannah Rosette TheRosettePortrait

Natalie Jean

Natalie Jean- Natalie Jean is an award winning, multi-nominated singer/songwriter performer

Interview conducted on May 16, 2020

by Dan Locke

Natalie Jean is an award-winning, multi-nominated singer/songwriter performer. She is also a Voting Member in the Recording Academy (GRAMMYS). Natalie Jean is a versatile performer and singer. She sings and writes for many genres, such as Jazz, Pop, R&B, Blues, World, Rock, Country, Americana, Inspirational, Adult Contemporary, Alternative, and, Dance. She can also sing in French, Spanish, English, and Haitian Creole. Natalie Jean is mostly influenced by artists such as Lena Horne, Celine Dion, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, and Ella Fitzgerald. She has performed at many venues in the MD/DC. She also has performed in LA, NewYork, Nashville, and North Carolina. She also appeared on WPFW, a Jazz station in Washington DC. She has been nominated over 100 times for her music and has won many awards. She has released six albums, Obsession, Natalie Jean, Lecons D’Amour, Unafraid, Haiti Mwen Renmenw, and Where Do We Go From Here?. She has also released several singles.

Dan Locke: What is your upbringing?

Natalie Jean: I grew up in a household of musicians. There was always music playing My father, Guy Robert Jean is a famous Haitian singer. My aunt Sandra Jean, formed the first all-female band in Haiti, called “Riske”. My cousin, Moses Jean, is a music producer. I was always surrounded by music. Believe it or not, Elvis was a big influence in our household. I used to watch Sanford and Son and wanted to be a Jazz singer after watching Lena Horne, in one of its episodes.

  How did you discover music?

I discovered music through my father. He used to perform at many venues in the Washington, DC area.

How did you start to write music?

I started out by writing poetry. I have a book of published poetry. It was a great outlet for my emotions and experiences. One day, I decided two take a couple that I had written and created a demo.

You have won a lot of awards. How was it to win your first award back in 2015?

It was really exciting!! I had never won anything before. I always wanted to win something. It demonstrated that I was doing something right. It’s crazy because I never really thought I would be in the music industry. I often ask myself “how did I get here”.

You are a voting member of the Grammys. How does one become a voting member of the Academy?

Back in the day, it used to be a lot easier to become a member of the Academy. Now, it has become a lot harder. You simply go to Grammy.com and you fill out the application form. Membership opens up in March and you get notified in June. There are only three types of memberships, Voting, Professional, and Grammy U (students). You have to get two recommendations from people that are already members. But it does not guarantee membership. You have demonstrated that music is your full-time career, that you are serious about your craft.

How was the Grammy this year?

The Grammy’s are always a lot of fun!! However, this year, there was a lot of sadness because of Kobe Bryant’s plane crashing and killing all on board. We still had a good time. It is a long day. You start at 7:00 am and end at 5:00 am. It’s a great time to see people that you haven’t seen in a while and a great opportunity to network. Lots of events during the week before the show.

Tell me about your current release “Mother Earth”?

Mother Earth is a song from my latest album “Where Do We Go From Here?”. This album is a social impact/message album. I had several different focuses for this album, and one of them was the environment. I wanted to demonstrate what we all have done to damage the earth and everything inside.

You release the song Mother Earth. What were you thinking as you were getting the video together?

I wanted to demonstrate what we have done in many different ways. The fires that killed animals, the pollution in the ocean, glaciers are melting, the negativity, and showing that some don’t believe, despite the evidence. It’s interesting that during this pandemic, pollution levels have decreased and you can see skylines. It demonstrates how we all impact our earth.

Have you had the chance to work with Adrienne Nixon Basco , because you both were involved with the Josie Awards?

Nope, I have not worked with Adrienne. I didn’t get a chance to speak with her at the awards show. I performed at the 2019 Josie Music Awards Show. I’ve been nominated and won several awards from the Josie Music Awards since its inception.

What are you’re feeling about streaming music?

The streaming industry is unfortunately useful for marketing our music. I don’t like the fact that artists are not making what they should since it is their artistry. Streaming allows for us to get new fans, share our music, and hopefully chart one day. You have to look at the good and the bad. I know many artists that refuse to stream their music. But I do because it is a great way to share my music.

natalie jean tour

  Digital vs. vinyl?

I prefer digital. Vinyl is very expensive. It is hard to get people to buy a single for $1.29. I think that vinyl works best if you are touring and you have fans that will actually purchase your cd. I won’t be creating CDs anymore. My singles and albums will all be digital. If a reviewer needs a cd, I just burn a copy.

  Any plans to tour?

I was working on an idea for a tour, and then COVID happened. So, that will be placed on the back burner for now.

What song from the past is in your mind right now? And what is the meaning that song means to you?

Don’t Stand So Close to Me, by the Police. It’s because of this whole pandemic/covid19. I think about what life will look like when all of this is over.

How do you feel the Covid-19 virus going to affect the music business in the future?

I think that you will have people suffering from PTSD, and may not want to go out and be around large crowds. On the flip side, I think that the music industry will thrive once again. Music has the power to heal and move mountains. Music makes people feel better. I think that some people are going to hunger for music and are going to have a need for concerts. I also believe that there will be a boom in virtual concerts.

What have you been doing with your self-quarantine?

I’ve been teleworking, watching music webinars, working out (in my house), creating music (I released a new Country single, Not Over You with Country artist Rory Gardiner), released two new music videos (The Forgotten and We Kneel), and I’ve been marketing my new releases.

Have you discovered or rediscovered any new hobbies?

I never have time to read. So, I’ve been reading a lot more. Also, I’ve been going on more walks.

Lots of people are doing nightly concerts over either YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Are you planning to do something like that?

I did a Live Facebook performance the other day. I am considering doing some more of that. I’ve also thought about creating a Youtube channel about the life of an indie.

Do you think it will be possible to make a living doing concerts this way?

I think you can make a good living by doing virtual concerts. Those types of sites have been around for a while. It’s nothing new.

First, it was an article in the New York Times, then Rolling Stones talked about it and finally, Live Nation CEO said that concerts may not start again until the fall of 2021. Do you think this could happen?

I do believe that this could happen. They need to get a handle on Covid19. I would love to get things rolling sooner than that. But in the end, it is better to be safe than sorry.

What about Holographic concerts in our living room?

That would be an interesting concept. How much would something like that cost? It would have to be affordable. I would prefer a virtual performance.

How do you see yourself in the next five years?

In five years, I would like to for music to be my only profession. I see myself collaborating with amazing indie artists and making a difference in the world.

Anything you would like to say in closing?

Music is subjective. Stay true to who you are as an artist. Write and perform from your soul.

Tour de France 2024 favorites, ranked by their chances of winning

T he biggest event on the cycling calendar, and one of the most noteworthy sporting events in the world, is upon us: the 2024 Tour de France will start this weekend.

The 111th edition of the race will be kicked off in the Italian city of Florence on Saturday, June 29. A total of 21 stages and 2,170 miles will take riders to Nice on the French Riviera.

This year’s Tour projects to be as memorable a Grande Boucle as any in recent history. Look no further than a star-studded start list that includes some of the biggest names in the sport — including the so-called “big four” of Tadej Pogačar, Jonas Vingegaard, Primož Roglič and Remco Evenepoel going at each other for the first time ever.

So, who will come out on top? That is anybody’s guess at this point in time, but here is our overview of who to keep an eye on over the next three weeks.

The phenomenon

Given what has transpired so far this season, there is one out-and-out favorite for this race. It’s none other than the best rider of his generation.

1. Tadej Pogačar (SLO), UAE Team Emirates: A two-time Tour de France winner already, the 25-year-old wunderkind is in the middle of what could end up being a historic season. His 2024 palmarès so far includes some dominant victories, including at the Giro d’Italia in May. Will he show any signs of fatigue after beating his competition by almost 10 minutes in the first grand tour of the season? Or was it just a three-week appetizer for what lies ahead? For what it’s worth, Pogačar himself — who changed his training regimen and personal coach since the last Tour de France — seems to think his best is yet to come . A scary thought.

The defending champion

One big reason why Pogačar is the favorite is that his main rival of the last three editions of the Tour de France was involved in a devastating crash in early April. Nonetheless, you can never count another two-time champion out either.

2. Jonas Vingegaard (DEN), Visma | Lease a Bike: Vingegaard was able to beat Pogačar in back-to-back years, and at a full 100 percent should be able to challenge the Slovenian megastar yet again. The question is: will he be at a 100 percent? The Dane suffered a punctured lung as well as rib and collarbone fractures at the Tour of Basque Country less than three months ago, and hasn’t raced since. His form is a mystery, and something his rivals might want to try to exploit early on in the Tour. If the 27-year-old is able to keep things close heading into the final week, however, his superb climbing abilities might put him right back into the conversation after all.

The uncertain stars

The last three years in particular were the Pogačar and Vingegaard show, and when at their best they are a clear step above the rest of the peloton as far as stage racing is concerned. However, two other riders are actually within striking distance themselves — even though they crashed alongside Vingegaard in April.

3. Primož Roglič (SLO), Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe: Vingegaard’s former teammate still has some unfinished business in France after narrowly losing the 2020 Tour to his compatriot Pogačar and failing to finish the race in both 2021 and 2022. At age 34, however, time is running out for the ex-ski jumper. Despite being on the older side compared to his closest rivals, Roglič is still a world-class rider — something he showed in the lead-up to the Tour de France when he won the Critérium du Dauphiné, despite a serious wobble on the final stage.

4. Remco Evenepoel (BEL), Soudal Quick-Step: Evenepoel was among the riders beaten by Roglič at the Dauphiné, but he appeared to focus more on his own build-up toward the Tour de France rather than the result in that particular race. Considering that he too crashed at Basque Country, this makes sense, but it creates an aura of uncertainty around the Belgian — especially when comparing himself to the Pogačars and Vingegaards of the world in a grand tour setting for the first time. Still, the talented youngster is a realistic podium contender in this race and might even be able to push for the top spot himself due to his time-trialling capabilities.

The outsiders

It would be quite a surprise if the winner wasn’t one of the big four of Pogačar, Vingegaard, Roglič or Evenepoel. That said, anything can happen in a three-week race and teams might be forced to adapt due to crash, crack, or illness. If so, a member of this group might end up on the top step of the podium when all is said and done.

5. Carlos Rodriguez (ESP), Ineos Grenadiers: Rodriguez may lack the star power of the top-ranked riders on this list, but he is no slouch either. He finished second, first, and fourth in his last three stage races this season, and was fifth in the Tour last year. With a strong Ineos Grenadiers team supporting him, he could jump onto the podium in 2024 in case the big four show some weakness.

6. Adam Yates (UK), UAE Team Emirates: Fresh off a win at the Tour de Suisse, Yates will serve as Pogačar’s right-hand man and top lieutenant the next three weeks. He is a quality general classification racer in his own right, however, and finished third behind his captain and Jonas Vingegaard in 2023. Another podium result is not out of the realm of possibility even with a support role as his primary job.

7. Matteo Jorgenson (USA), Visma | Lease a Bike: With Vingegaard’s form best classified as “TBD” and with fellow American Sepp Kuss scratched from the Visma | Lease a Bike start list due to medical reasons, the 24-year-old Jorgenson might be part backup leader, part super domestique starting off the race. Regardless of his role, he is more than capable of a top-three finish considering how his season has been going so far: he won Paris-Nice in March, and finished only 8 seconds down to Roglič at the Dauphiné earlier this month.

8. Juan Ayuso (ESP), UAE Team Emirates: Ayuso would be a leader on most teams, but being on the one headlined by Tadej Pogačar means he too will have to work for the big boss. That doesn’t mean he will not compete for a general classification spot as well, and be kept close to the race lead as a possible break-glass-in-case-of-emergency option.

9. Egan Bernal (COL), Ineos Grenadiers: One of four former Tour de France champions to start this year’s race alongside Pogačar, Vingegaard, and Ineos Grenadiers teammate Geraint Thomas, Bernal is in the middle of a good season. He has yet to win, yes, but for the first time since a career-altering crash in 2022 is competing at a top level again. A podium finish might still be out of reach, especially with Carlos Rodriguez ahead of him in the pecking order, but stranger things have happened.

10. João Almeida (POR), UAE Team Emirates: Almeida has finished in the top-10 in 13 of his 15 career stage races, including as No. 2 at the Tour de Suisse earlier this month. He is still only the fourth favorite among a stacked UAE squad, but similar to his teammate Ayuso might be kept in the running for as long as possible especially after showing some promising form in Switzerland.

11. Aleksandr Vlasov (RUS), Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe: Vlasov was Primož Roglič’s top helper at the Dauphine, and himself riding a good race to finish sixth overall. It was his fourth top-10 result in a stage race this year, and he could end up making some noise at the Tour de France as well if allowed to go for his own result on top of helping protect Roglič.

The best of the rest

Despite a clear hierarchy to the list of favorites, general classification ambitions will not end with the names above. In fact, plenty of riders will consider a top-10 result as a success and could even have their eyes on the podium under the right — or wrong, depending on how you look at it — circumstances.

That being said, the chances of somebody like Felix Gall, Tom Pidcock, Geraint Thomas, Enric Mas, Jai Hindley, Mikel Landa, Simon Yates, or Derek Gee winning or even podiuming this year’s Tour de France are fairly low. That does not mean they won’t play their part in making the race exciting, but they have not shown they can consistently challenge the top dogs.
