MSC Status Match Program – How to match your loyalty status from other cruise lines (with Forms & Match Chart)

MSC Cruises loyalty program status match

So many people don’t realize that some cruise lines actually match loyalty rewards from other cruise lines and in MSC Cruises’ case, they even have an MSC Cruises status match from hotel programs! By being a loyalty member or frequent flyer on some airlines, you can increase your loyalty level on the MSC Voyagers Club program and receive discounts on future bookings.

How does MSC Status Match Work?

MSC Cruises makes it easy to status match with any qualified program. Just go to their status match form on their website and submit your information with a screenshot of your matching loyalty program. Some cruisers say they’ve received status matching within hours, with our status match on MSC (From NCL Platinum), it took MSC two months to confirm our GOLD status.

What loyalty programs does MSC match with?

MSC Status Match Chart With Match Levels (Updated October 2023)

MSC Status Match Program - How to match your loyalty status from other cruise lines (with Forms & Match Chart) 2

This is an example of MSC loyalty status match programs and how they’ve been reported by fellow travelers.

It’s worth noting: MSC Cruises does sometimes change the program by adding or removing matching hotels and airlines. Additionally, we’ve heard reports that some cruisers will submit the same status level in the same program (i.e. Carnival) and the MSC rep will match to a different level. For example, speaking with a Carnival passenger with a Carnival Diamond level status, they were matched to GOLD on MSC Cruises, however, a different passenger with the same Diamond status on Carnival was Matched to SILVER on MSC. There seems to be no official chart on the MSC Website at this time.

Do you have an experience status matching that is different or more recent than above?

Let us know and we’ll update this chart! Submit a comment below!

How the MSC status match works, and what to expect

The process to match is simple once you locate the correct form to submit (above). A simple screenshot of the program you are matching with is all it took. However, there was no correspondence after submitting the request, so it felt like the request went into a black hole. I didn’t think much of it until a couple of months later, I received the notification (below) of the approval and status match to Gold (from Norwegian Platinum).

Many passengers report that they get their status match email within a few days if not the same day as the submission. This wasn’t my experience, nor was it the experience of one of my travel companions who did a status match from Hilton Gold to MSC Gold. The same couple of months passed to get the confirmation.

So don’t expect any real communication from the moment you submit your form.

Getting notified of your approved loyalty / status match

It took longer than most passengers have reported to get our status match. Perhaps it’s because our situation is a bit more complicated being an American ex-pat in Europe with an MSC account that has been used in different locations (this is just speculation). But this is what you should receive when you get your match approved:

Dear Phil, Thank you for your status match request. On behalf of MSC, I can and am pleased to welcome you to the MSC Voyagers Club. At MSC Cruises we have a passion for the sea and discovery. The MSC Voyagers Club is our way of rewarding those who share our passion. It’s an exclusive world full of privileges, discounts, offers and extras to spoil you the way only MSC Cruises can. In short, the MSC Voyagers CLub rewards your passion for travel. We are pleased to confirm that you are a Gold member of the MSC Voyagers Club and can immediately enjoy all the benefits with the following club number xxxxxxxx. When you make a booking on our website, I recommend that you always enter your club number. In this way, any discounts are calculated immediately. If this does not work or if you have already made a booking, please provide us or your travel agent with your booking number and we will be happy to include your club number in your booking. We trust that we have informed you sufficiently and would like to welcome you on board one of our ships. Yours sincerely, Jan P Personal Vacation Consultant MSC Cruises BV

We would like request for the status match application for Taiwan.

We have China airline gold card, can you please advise if this can be process the status match.

Thanks a lots.

Hello Yi – I do not think there is a status match form for Taiwan or China 🙁

BUT! If you call MSC, they will still do a status match internally or send you a form that is not country specific.

Is there a status match form for Belgium? Thank you

Bonjour Maurits – The Belgian status match can be found here: https://www.msccruises.be/fr/ma-reservation/msc-voyagers-club/status-match . Enjoy your cruise!

If you status match to MSC Gold, how many points do you need to get to Diamond? Do they just credit you the minimum 4300 points required for Gold, so that you would need 5700 more for Diamond? Thanks!

Good question! So what MSC originally did for me is just advanced me to 4300 point level (Gold). My assumption was if you were lower than 4300 points, regardless of where you were on the scale, they just set the counter to 4300 (Gold). (When I applied I had 3200 points). But! I just logged in and it looks like some how I have 4300 ADDED to the balance and now I am closer to Diamond than I thought (10,000 points is Diamond). But remember, this is MSC Cruises we’re talking about. The rules change, the way they apply credits and points on EVERYTHING seems to change regularly. So from my experience just recently, it looks that they’ve ADDED 4300 points in addition to my previously earned points, but don’t expect that. Expect that you’ll be put at the 4300 point level and have to earn up to Diamond.

does msc cruise line match status

MSC status match: How status with another cruise line got me perks with MSC

I f cruise discounts, priority embarkation, welcome parties and free gifts sound enticing, pay attention. There's only one cruise line in the entire industry that will match your status with other travel brands (and not just cruise lines), allowing you to access a variety of perks.

MSC Cruises ' status match can take you from no status (if you've never sailed with the line before) to the highest level in a snap if you've reached the upper echelons of other loyalty programs. In my case, I went from the lowest tier to the second highest just by asking MSC to match my status with another cruise line. That earned me some nice added benefits, including a free one-hour pass to the thermal suite any time I sail with the line.

Want to learn how to elevate your status and snag valuable extras on your next MSC cruise? Here, I'll answer your questions about why you should match your status and what you'll be entitled to if you do.

For more cruise news, guides and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

Which programs will MSC consider for matching?

For a status match, MSC Cruises will look at loyalty status from more than 70 brands, including its big competitors ( Carnival Cruise Line , Royal Caribbean, Holland America Line , Celebrity Cruises, Princess Cruises , Norwegian Cruise Line and Disney Cruise Line ), as well as hotel chains like Hyatt, Hilton and Marriott, and other brands like Expedia, Air China and even Cirque du Soleil.

Note that MSC does not currently match status for any of the major U.S. airlines, including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.

How do I apply for an MSC status match?

It's simple. Fill out the information on MSC Cruises' status match page , and the cruise line will let you know if you've been approved.

When I went through the process, I submitted my status as a Diamond-level member with Royal Caribbean's Crown and Anchor program — the highest status I have. Within a week, I heard back from MSC, telling me that I had earned Voyagers Club Gold status.

However, for one of my coworkers, it wasn't quite so easy. He submitted the form citing his Hyatt Globalist status under the World of Hyatt program , but he didn't hear back for a few weeks. Even then, he only received an answer after contacting the line to ask whether a decision had been made. Eventually, he was awarded Diamond status — the highest in MSC's program.

Which status level will I get?

If you hold elite status with multiple brands, you'll want to request a match with whichever status will translate to the highest level with MSC Cruises' program. For example, I'm Gold with Hilton Honors and Gold Elite with Marriott Bonvoy , thanks to The Platinum Card® from American Express , but neither would have translated as highly as my Royal Caribbean Diamond status.

Determining how a particular status at another brand correlates with MSC's program is not always straightforward, as each line calculates points toward loyalty status differently. MSC tends to value some statuses as lower than the same level within its own program.

For example, Royal Caribbean's Diamond status is only equal to MSC's Gold. However, that is likely because Royal Caribbean has six tiers while MSC only has four. I found this chart useful in determining which program's match would get me the highest status with MSC.

What are some of the perks?

There are four tiers in the MSC Voyagers Club program: Classic, Silver, Gold and Diamond.

Even at the lowest level, which is achieved after just one voyage, passengers receive discounts on cruises and purchases in the onboard shops, a dedicated e-newsletter, invitations to onboard "welcome back" cocktail parties and more. When you reach higher tiers, you'll be rewarded with extras like spa thermal passes and priority tendering, embarkation and disembarkation.

For more details, check out The Points Guy's full article on the MSC Voyagers Club loyalty program .

What's the catch?

Overall, MSC's status match is a great offering, but there are some caveats to keep in mind. Although you can earn status easily, especially with the match, the line's loyalty program is one of the weakest in the industry. (When you reach the very top, don't expect a free cruise like some other lines offer.)

Additionally, most cruise lines' loyalty programs award status for life. That means you don't have to requalify each year, as you do with hotel and airline programs. However, MSC's Voyagers Club status goes up in smoke if you fail to take at least one cruise every 36 months. If that happens, your account will be closed, and you'll have to start all over from the bottom.

You can also only request one match per person. That means if MSC Cruises awards you a match and you achieve higher status with another program in the future, you won't be able to submit additional requests to have MSC re-evaluate your status level. It also means that if you don't take a cruise within three years and your loyalty status expires, you can't request another match, even after you create a new account.

Are status matches common in cruising?

Status matches aren't common in the cruise world. In fact, only two cruise lines — Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises — offer reciprocal status, and that's only because they're sister brands.

Otherwise, you have to earn status in each loyalty program individually, and none of those lines will give credit for status in loyalty programs outside the cruise industry. (But, gamblers, take note: Some cruise lines do allow you to earn free sailings and other perks with your land-based casino loyalty status.)

Bottom line

If you're someone who thought it would never be possible to earn status with a cruise line, it's a great idea to leverage your other status achievements to get yourself there more quickly with MSC Cruises.

Or, if you're a traveler who has never tried cruising, a status match is a great way to ensure you have access to a few extra perks that will help enhance your first sailing.

MSC Status Match – What Is it And is it Worth Doing? A Step-by-Step Guide

I successfully used the MSC Status Match program to transfer my Norwegian Cruise Line loyalty status to MSC, and I have been enjoying the perks on MSC cruises ever since!

In this post, we look at how you can apply.

What is the MSC Status Match?

MSC Status Match is a program from MSC Cruises that allows guests to match a loyalty status from another Cruise Line, Hotel Group or Tour Operator.

It is available worldwide, free to use and guests will immediately start receiving benefits.

When you cruise with MSC you will be given the perks that the equivalent loyalty program on MSC would provide.

I matched my ‘Platinum’ status with Norwegian Cruise Line To MSC’s Diamond status – and now enjoy loads of perks each time I cruise.

I would definitely recommend you take the time to read this post and match your status. If you are considering cruising with MSC, it’s well worth doing!

It is worth remembering that If you do not cruise with MSC within three years of matching the status, you will lose your loyalty status with MSC completely.

Which Cruise Line Statuses Can I Match With MSC Status Match?

Statuses from the following cruise lines are matched by MSC:

  • Costa Cruises
  • Royal Caribbean
  • Carnival Cruises
  • Norwegian Cruises
  • Celebrity Cruises
  • Cunard Cruises
  • Princess Cruises
  • Regent Cruises
  • Holland America
  • P&O Cruises
  • Azamara Cruises
  • Seabourn Cruises
  • Disney Cruise Line
  • Ponant Yacht Cruises
  • Aida Cruise Line
  • Crystal Cruises
  • Oceania Cruises
  • Star Cruises

Which Hotel Brands Match with MSC Status Match? (List from the US MSC Status Match site):

Club Med ITA, Club Med FRA, Club Med DEU, Expedia, Hilton, Marriott, Ritz Carlton, Hyatt Hotels, Orbitz, Shangri-la, Accor Hotels, Melia Hotels, Fairmont, Starwood, Kampinski, Pestana, Best Western, ClubCarlson, Othon Hotels, International Hotel Group, NH, Centara Hotel Resort, Sandals, Steigenerger Hotel Group, Mosturflot, Infoflot, Vodokhod, RIU Hotels and Resorts, Mydham Hotels, MGM Resorts, GNV, Alipay, Air China, China Eastern, China Southern, Jin Jaign Hotels, H, Club Med US & CAN, Mohegan Sun, C-Trip.

MSC does not do a status match more than once! Make sure you pick the membership where you have the highest loyalty level to avoid missing out.

If you later realise you have a higher level on another line, you can’t match again.

What Do You Need To Status Match With MSC?

You will need to have a scanned copy of your current loyalty card (file formats accepted include .jpg, .doc, .docx, and pdf. Max. file size: 2MB).

I didn’t have a physical card to show that I have a loyalty status with Norwegian Cruise Line so I sent them a screenshot of me logged into Norwegian Cruise Lines website, the screenshot clearly showed my status and full name.

I do know a number of people who have used a picture of their last cruise card on another cruise line as evidence of their loyalty status. If you cannot find any other evidence this may be an option.

Apply at least 14 working days before the start of your cruise – and longer if at all possible!

How To Match Your Status In The USA With MSC

Matching your status in the USA is easy. Follow the steps below:

  • Head to MSC’s USA website here.
  • Fill in your personal data. Make sure this matches your name and the information that is on your passport.
  • Add your address information.
  • Add details about your loyalty scheme. If you cannot find your membership on the list email [email protected] . (If you’re not sure if a membership scheme is listed it is worth emailing to check. You’ve got nothing to lose).

How To Match Your Status In The UK With MSC

Matching your status in the UK is a little less easy. Follow the steps below:

  • Head to MSC’s UK website here.
  • Add details about your loyalty scheme. ( I had a bit of trouble at this stage and was told I had to print out the form, fill it and email it back. It seems as though they have sorted this and you can upload a screenshot directly on the website
  • If you have any problems make sure you email: [email protected] .

Other countries will follow a similar process to the UK/USA make sure you are on the correct site before applying.

What Perks Can You Gain From Status Matching With MSC?

There are five membership levels to progress through: Welcome ,  Classic ,  Silver ,  Gold  and Diamond . Each time you cruise with us, you will earn points and as your points grow, so do your privileges and status. MSC Cruises

It is worth noting that you receive perks equivalent to the loyalty status you are given by MSC – they don’t match all the perks that you might get on another line.

For example, on Norwegian you might receive a free bag of laundry you won’t get this on MSC because this isn’t one of their perks for the loyalty status.

You can find out more about the loyalty perks for each level on MCS’s website here:

MSC Members Benefits

I was matched to the highest level of Black (now changed to Diamond) and as a result, receive the following benefits:

  • A Free Meal In A Speciality Restaurant
  • A Free Hour In The Spa
  • A Chocolate Ship or a Chocolate Bar depending on availability
  • Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Bottle of Spumante

  • A Free Gift (In my experience, a bag or a pen)
  • Priority Boarding and Disembarkation
  • Diamond Party Invitation
  • 5% Off future MSC Cruises

Lower loyalty statuses will provide some of these benefits but not all.

All loyalty statuses get you 5% off future MSC cruises ! It’s worth joining for that alone!

A Free Meal at a Speciality Restaurant

A Diamond membership card allows you to have a meal for free in a speciality restaurant. The card entitles you to a meal for two – although I believe you can only use it once per cabin.

I have the Diamond status and took a guest along (who doesn’t have any status with MSC.) Both of our meals were free.

When eating in a speciality restaurant you may have to eat from a special menu, as we did in “The Butchers Cut .”

Normally if you dine here, there is a charge for each item you choose , so getting a free meal was a real bonus. We always make sure we make use of this loyalty perk!

When will You Get Your Loyalty Perks and Gifts with MSC?

If you are cruising for a week with MSC, you will find details of perks and gifts appearing in your cabin throughout the week! You may return to find an invitation to the loyalty member’s party or a plate of Chocolate strawberries! It’s always a lovely surprise!

As I know that I am entitled to a free speciality meal, I always go and ask about it and book it as soon as I get on board! I don’t wait to be told – I don’t want to risk missing out!

I recently took a cruise on MSC Seaview, find out more about the food I ate whilst onboard the cruise in the article below:

Everything I Ate on my MSC Cruise (Photos and Menus) – Food Review

Free Hour in the Spa

Spas on Cruise ships are lovely – but it’s not something that I would normally spend my own money on!

I spent an hour in the spa on the MSC Meraviglia as one of my loyalty perks with MSC.

There were a number of steam rooms, saunas and big bubbly pools. I basically spent the hour running around making sure that I got to have a go at EVERYTHING! It was a great experience!

Find out more about my visit to the spa on MSC Meraviglia here:

MSC Meraviglia Spa Review (Aurea spa 2019)

It is always nice to find a free bottle of bubbly in your cabin!

When we sailed on the MSC Meraviglia we disembarked on New Year’s Eve. I actually took my bottle off the ship to enjoy it at midnight!

We stayed in Nice for the night, and I enjoyed drinking it in my Elf pyjamas! Spumante is an Italian sparkling wine, similar to Prosecco.

We were given a free bag which I now use to take to the gym. I love cruise souvenirs and free ones are even better! This showed up towards the end of our cruise.

Chocolate Ship!

A chocolate ship showed up midway through our Christmas cruise. It was very clever and really does look like the MSC Meraviglia!

We actually saw these ships being in the onboard chocolate shop. There were a number of other chocolate things dotted around which looked really impressive.

msc meraviglia chocolate ship

On other ships that don’t have a chocolate shop onboard, you may find that the chocolate ship is substituted with a bar of chocolate. Free chocolate of any description is good in my book…

Chocolate Strawberries

Who doesn’t love chocolate strawberries?

msc meraviglia chocolate strawberries on balcony jeans

Priority Boarding

We were given priority boarding when we went to embark in Genoa. However, the priority boarding line was longer than the regular line so it didn’t really make much difference. I appreciate the gesture though!

Other Perks:

Below are a few more perks of my Diamond status that I haven’t yet used:

  • Complimentary Birthday Cake
  • A Dance Class
  • Complimentary photo from the ‘welcome back’ cocktail
  • Invitation to the Diamond Members’ party . I haven’t used this, but my parents regularly do! There is free-flowing Prosecco, Wine and Aperol Spritz along with canapes and snacks. If you haven’t got a drinks package it is a great opportunity to get free drinks!

How Long Does it Take To Have Your Status Matched With MSC?

This one varies. I would say you probably want to give it a few weeks or maybe even a month to be safe. MSC says that you should apply at least 14 days before the start of your cruise.

A lot of time MSC will match the status within a couple of days but in order to make sure you don’t miss out, I would leave it longer.

I doubt that MSC actually gets confirmation from other cruise lines. It seems unlikely that other cruiselines would want to help out MSC when they are trying to steal their customers!

How To Use The 5% Discount

All statuses will allow you to get 5% off future MSC cruise bookings. The website states that these are only for future cruises – although I have heard about a couple of travel agents being able to backdate this on occasion.

Other Terms and Conditions of the 5% Future Cruises Discount MSC Voyagers Club members’ cruise discount is extendable to all stateroom occupants. It is valid year-round. The discount can be combined with all promotions and offers unless otherwise stated. Does not apply to Voyagers club members under 18 years of age.

If you are planning a cruise with MSC it definitely is worth looking into the status match before you book your cruise.

If you are even considering an MSC cruise I would suggest you apply. The status does disappear after three years but that gives you plenty of time to find an MSC cruise that suits you.

In order to keep the status, you must cruise with MSC at least once every three years.

To use the 5% discount you simply need to give the travel agent your voyager’s number which you will get when you match your status.

Alternatively, if you book directly MSC will already have your Voyagers number.

It is worth keeping an eye on the MSC website for other offers. At time of writing MSC are offering:

Book more than 12 months before departure for an extra  5+5% discount + double points Book more than 6 months before departure for an extra  5+5% discount And that’s not all: if you’re a Silver, Gold or Diamond member, receive  additional €50 onboard credit per person  when you book more than 9 months in advance MSC (July2023)

Thanks for your explanation. I found out, that MSC is not giving the free percs, if you do not ask therfore. I am very sad with MSC, as sthey are making absolutly wrong pricemarketing. The guests are always the loosing. If they book early they get the so clled "Early Discount" which is not really a discount, it is only named as such one. If you book as short as the travel starts, you can save up to 70% on the normal fare. So take care on booking MSC. Only AUREA and YACHT CLUB should be booked early to get these cabins.

THANK YOU so much for this information! My family and I have been on several cruises but looking to try MSC. I have clicked on the form but it doesn't seem to be working. I enter my zip code and the State and City freeze up and won't let me complete the form. I'll give MSC a call... must be a glitch on their website. Anyway, thanks again for the info.

MSC Cruises Status Match – What is it?

MSC Cruises' MSC Fantasia

Get matched for great rewards

Almost all cruise lines offer a loyalty scheme, from Cunard Line’s   Cunard World Club to Royal Caribbean’s Crown and Anchor Society.

MSC Voyager levels

MSC Cruises are no different and their loyalty scheme is the MSC Voyagers Club . What is different is they have a fantastic status match scheme that almost anyone that has cruised before will benefit from, better yet – they even accept memberships from hotel loyalty schemes too!

How does it work?

You simply fill out a form with MSC Cruises and give them your information on the current loyalty status you hold from a list of companies that include cruise lines and hotels.

Can I do this more than once?

No, you can only match once in your lifetime. Make sure you cruise within 3 years of your match otherwise you will lose your new status.

Which companies can I match with?

Cruise lines:  Costa Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise, Norwegian Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, Cunard Line, Princess Cruises, Silversea, Regent Cruises, Holland America Line, P&O Cruises, Azamara Cruises, Seabourn Cruises, Disney Cruise Line, Ponant Yacht Cruises, Aida Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Oceania Cruises, Star Cruises,

Hotels and other chains:  Club Med ITA, Club Med FRA, Club Med DEU, Expedia, Hilton, Marriott, Ritz Carlton, Hyatt Hotels, Orbitz, Shangri-La, Accor Hotels, Melia Hotel, Fairmont Collection, Starwood, Kampinski, Pestana, Best Western, ClubCarlson, Othon Hotels, International Hotel Group, NH, Centara Hotel Resort, Sandals, Steigenberger Hotel Group, Mosturflot, Infoflot, Vodokhod, RIU Hotels and Resorts, Wyndham Hotels, MGM Resorts, GNV, Alipay, Air China, China Eastern, China Southern ,Jin Jaing Hotels, New Century Hotels & Resorts, Club Med USA & CAN.

MSC Cruises will match your status using their own internal system with their loyalty scheme. Many people have reported getting the Black level immediately, so it absolutely worth doing!

MSC Status Match offer

What do you get?

Below is a list of what you get depending on the level you are matched to (click to view full size)

MSC Voyager benefits

What about if I already have a Voyagers Club membership?

Just fill out your details on the form with all the information in your current Voyagers Club account, they will then upgrade that account.

How do I do it?

Just head over to: MSC Cruises Status Match form for UK/Europe or MSC Cruises Status Match form for USA/Canada .

From previous experience, our form was answered within a few hours (on a weekday) and our status was then upgraded immediately. You’ve nothing to lose!

We hope you found this little guide handy – let us know in the comments if you managed to match successfully!

Note: The Black level was replaced by the Diamond level in late October 2019. More details are over on the MSC Cruises website

MSC Status Match Program – Incredible Benefits Revealed

MSC status match program

The MSC Status Match Program in Detail

What is the msc status match scheme.

When Anita and I considered our next family cruise, we discovered the MSC Status Match Program, sometimes called the MSC Croisières Status Match.

We had never heard of this before, but as we found, this program has many untold benefits if you are eligible for the scheme. MSC will match the valid loyalty club memberships you have earned with certain Hotels, Cruise lines or Tour Operators and translate these into their MSC Voyagers Club benefits. This is an MSC loyalty match scheme whereby you receive all the benefits that the equivalent loyalty program on MSC Cruises would provide.

The most significant advantage  is that once you are a member of the  MSC Voyagers Club , you are eligible for a 5% discount on all MSC Cruises. There are many other onboard privileges, which we will cover later in this article,  plus membership offers on specially selected cruises with additional discounts of up to 15%.

The MSC cruises status match program is an excellent way of encouraging loyal guests from other cruise lines to try MSC. Promoting this scheme is also a unique way for travel agents to add value to their guests.

We suggest you take the time to read this post and then apply for an MSC Status match with your current cruise line loyalty program. As it costs you nothing it’s well worth doing if you plan to cruise with MSC Cruises. If you don’t take a cruise with MSC Cruises within three years of an MSC Status match, you will lose your loyalty status completely.

What is the MSC Voyagers Club?

There are five membership levels to progress through: Welcome , Classic , Silver , Gold and Diamond . Each time you cruise with MSC, you will earn points and as your points grow, along with your privileges and status. Don’t forget to provide your membership number at the time of booking to ensure you receive your benefits!

MSC Status Match program

The MSC Cruises Voyages Club Cards

The Voyagers Club is MSC Cruises Loyalty Rewards scheme and being a member means entering a world of privileges that continue to grow the more you cruise with MSC. The program MSC’s way of saying thank you to loyal guests who share a passion for discovery and keep coming back, year after year.

MSC Voyagers Club membership is subject to a minimum of one cruise every three years. If you don’t take a voyage with MSC within three years after the enrolment date or your last disembarkation date, your membership will expire. Should your membership expire, you must subscribe again and you will be assigned the Classic status and a new Club identification number.

The Voyager Club Membership Benefits

At the time of writing the benefits of being an MSC Voyager Club member are scaled depending on your status. A snapshot of the actual benefits is as shown below. We were lucky enough to be granted Diamond Status following our successful Status Match

What you will need for MSC Status Match

Ideally, you need a scanned copy of your current cruise line or hotel loyalty card. They accepted file formats including .jpg, .doc, .docx, and pdf. We could have used one of several cards, including Cunard, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, or Crystal cruises, but we chose to use our Seabourn Diamond membership.

By doing this, we matched to the highest level within the MSC Voyagers Club Status Match program, which is also Diamond. If in doubt, it is worth contacting the status match department at MSC for clarification. We needed their help, and they were brilliant. To take advantage of the 5% cruise discount, you need to have completed the staus match process. We did, and it worked, thanks to our trusty travel agent.

How to sign up

We Status Matched our Seabourn Diamond Club membership with MSC Cruises Black and received the 5% discount on of first booking and now look forward to the additional benefits when we sail on the MSC Seaview soon. To take advantage of the offer, you need to visit the dedicated Staus Match web sites which are as follows :

Germany: http://www.msc-kreuzfahrten.de/de_de…-Programm.aspx Italy: http://www.msccrociere.it/it_it/MSC/…tus-Match.aspx France: http://www.msccroisieres.fr/fr_fr/Of…tus-Match.aspx UK: https://www.msccruises.co.uk/manage-booking/msc-voyagers-club/status-match USA: http://www.msccruisesusa.com/us_en/M…h-program.aspx

In case of difficulty, you can also print, complete and sign a registration form which should be scanned and sent to MSC Cruises. Different countries have separate email contact details, but for the UK this is [email protected].

You then receive an email confirming successful registration with details of the MSC Voyagers Club membership number. The tier level you are assigned ‘Classic’, ‘Silver’, ‘Gold’ or ‘Black’ will match as closely as possible with the level of benefits you enjoy from your loyalty program.

Your Membership Card is available to you on your first MSC cruise.

Be aware that the MSC Status Match can only be done once. Make sure you pick the membership with the highest level to avoid missing out. If you later realise you have a higher level on another line, you can’t match again.

Which Cruise Line Loyalty Programs are eligible for Staus Match?

At the time of writing the following cruise lines loyalty programs are eligible for MSC status match. The list may change from time to time, but if in doubt we suggest you contact MSC cruises direct.

Azamara Cruises, Carnival Cruises, Costa Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, Cunard Cruises, Princess Cruises, Silversea, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Holland America, P&O Cruises, Seabourn Cruise Line, Disney Cruise Line, Ponant Yacht Cruises, Aida Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Oceania Cruises, Star Cruises

Which Hotel Brands Loyalty Programs Status Match with MSC?

Club Med ITA, Club Med FRA, Club Med DEU, Expedia, Hilton, Marriott, Ritz Carlton, Hyatt Hotels, Orbitz, Shangri-la, Accor Hotels, Melia Hotels, Fairmont, Starwood, Kampinski, Pestana, Best Western, ClubCarlson, Othon Hotels, International Hotel Group, NH, Centara Hotel Resort, Sandals, Steigenberger Hotel Group, Mosturflot, Infoflot, Vodokhod, RIU Hotels and Resorts, Wyndham Hotels, MGM Resorts, GNV, Alipay, Air China, China Eastern, China Southern, Jin Jiang Hotels, H, Club Med US & CAN, Mohegan Sun, C-Trip.

How Long Does it Take To Have Your Status Matched?

Ours took a few days, and we have heard of other people receiving confirmation on the same day as they applied. You should probably wait and give it a few weeks and if you haven’t heard then contact MSC direct or through your travel agent.

About MSC Cruises and their Ships

MSC Cruises is the fastest-growing cruise line in the world. Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, MSC Cruises is part of the Cruises Division of MSC Group, the privately-held Swiss-based leading shipping and logistics conglomerate.

MSC Cruises’ fleet of 17 modern and innovative ships is one of the most environmentally-advanced in the industry. The Company is committed to environmental stewardship and works to minimise and continuously reduce the environmental impact of its fleet both while at sea and ashore by employing innovative marine and environmental technologies.

An industry-unprecedented €11.6 billion investment plan will see MSC Cruises’ fleet increase to 25 ships by 2027. Additionally, MSC Group’s Cruises Division is investing an additional €2 billion in a new luxury cruise brand comprising four super-yacht ships, launching one per year between 2023 and 2026.

Sailing to more than 200 destinations across five continents , MSC Cruises brings together more than 180 nationalities from around the world, offering an enriching and immersive cruise experience inspired by the Company’s European heritage. Expect to find international dining, world-class entertainment, award-winning family programmes and the very latest guest-friendly technology onboard.

MSC Status Match

MSC features large resort-style ships that sail over 1,000 routes around the world — the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Caribbean, South Africa, and South America.

Recent innovations on the newest MSC ships include the MSC Yacht Club, a marvellous “ship within a ship” area for those passengers in the Yacht Club staterooms.

Passenger Profile

MSC cruise ships have a decidedly European, cosmopolitan feel, and are best suited for couples and families with children. Children under 17 sharing a cabin with two adults sail free on all MSC sailings, so expect to see a lot of children during school holidays.

MSC markets to numerous nationalities and therefore there are many languages represented onboard. This diverse group of passengers can be appealing and exciting for some, but turn others off who are more accustomed to North American ships.

The MSC ships have most of their cabins on the outside, and many of those have balconies. MSC introduced a new concept on the MSC Fantasia class ships — MSC Yacht Club Suites. These suites are concentrated in a private area on two decks and feature full butler service, a pool, an observation lounge, and other amenities. The two private deck areas in the MSC Yacht Club connect with a crystal glass Swarovski staircase.

Cuisine and Dining

The MSC ships have either one or two main dining rooms with two seatings for dinner. Passengers can also have open seating breakfast and lunch in the dining rooms, which could be interesting (or awkward), depending on which languages your table mates speak. All the ships also have a nice Italian-theme speciality restaurant, and some of the newer vessels have other speciality restaurants for an extra fee. Like most ships, MSC guests can also dine in a buffet-style restaurant for casual fare.

Onboard Activities and Entertainment

Like other large-ship cruise lines, MSC Cruises features big production shows, with lots of colourful music and dancers. The ships also have small combos that provide live music in some of the lounges. The main theatre on each vessel is large and has modern facilities and equipment equal to almost any theatre venue found ashore.

Common Areas

Since MSC Cruises’ ships are relatively new, they are modern in decor, with a European look with understated elegance and quality furnishings. As would be expected, the ships have Italian influences in their interior design. All in all, the ships’ decor works well and are pleasing to most cruisers.

Spa, Gym, and Fitness

The MSC spas offer all the regular treatments you would expect on other large cruise ships. These include massages to well-being body treatments to aromatherapy and thalassotherapy. The fitness centers are well equipped with all the latest equipment and classes such as Pilates, Tae-boo, aerobics, and Latin dancing.

Conclusions

The MSC Status Match program is an innovative development within the cruise industry. If you have cruised before you will already be a member of your cruise line loyalty program, so if you plan to give MSC Cruises a try, this is a great perk to have. We have completed the MSC Status Match process and are ready for our first MSC Cruise.

Thanks for your email. We have found from experience that MSC can be a little slow, but they do get there in the end. The benefits are well worth waiting for. I would keep trying with MSC and give them a polite reminder.

This cruise line will match your hotel and airline loyalty status – for 3 days only

Ashley Kosciolek

Are you a sucker for a status match? If free coffee, a cocktail reception and free laundry service sound like perks you'd enjoy on your next vacation, listen up. For three days only, Virgin Voyages will extend its existing status match offer to include airline and hotel loyalty status matches.

Members of Virgin Voyages' Sailing Club loyalty program have been able to match with other cruise lines' loyalty programs for a while. However, if you have airline or hotel status, now could be the time to book that voyage you've been considering.

Here's all you need to know to take advantage of this offer.

What's the deal?

Book one of several select cruises with Virgin Voyages from Wednesday to Friday, submit proof of your loyalty status on Virgin Voyages' website by Friday, and you'll be automatically moved to Blue Extras, the second tier of Virgin Voyages' three-tier Sailing Club program. You'll be awarded the corresponding perks, starting on your first cruise following the match. (Rates start at $149 per person, per night for four-night sailings.)

Perks include one free bag of laundry to be sent out and returned to your cabin, one free specialty coffee per day and a cocktail reception.

Which brands will Virgin Voyages match?

does msc cruise line match status

This promotion will take loyalty status match requests into account for the following major airline and hotel brands:

  • United Airlines MileagePlus
  • American Airlines AAdvantage
  • Delta Air Lines SkyMiles
  • Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards
  • Frontier Airlines Miles
  • JetBlue TrueBlue
  • Marriott Bonvoy
  • Hilton Honors
  • World of Hyatt
  • Choice Privileges
  • IHG One Rewards
  • Wyndham Rewards
  • Radisson Rewards
  • Best Western Rewards

Virgin Voyages will also match your status if you are a loyal repeat traveler with another cruise line, but that offer is ongoing. The cruise line will continue to consider cruise line status matches after this deal ends.

What's the catch?

The obvious caveat is that you must book a cruise for your hotel or airline match to be considered.

You also can't be at the lowest tier within your airline's or hotel's loyalty program. Entry-level tiers don't qualify for the match. It's not enough to just be enrolled in a loyalty program. You must have earned some status within it first.

Additionally, this isn't a traditional type of match. Regardless of the level you've reached with your airline or hotel, you will only be awarded middle-tier status — Blue Extras — with Virgin Voyages. This promotion won't earn you the perks of Deep Blue Extras — the highest tier — no matter how elite you are elsewhere.

Which other cruise lines offer status matches?

Status matches are not common in the world of cruising. The only line that offers matches to cruise lines, hotels and airlines is MSC Cruises. MSC's matching program awards passengers status based on the loyalty level they submit for consideration. The drawbacks are that major U.S. airlines aren't yet part of the program, and if you don't cruise within three years of obtaining your status match, you'll lose it.

The only other megaship cruise lines that allow status matches are Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises — but only with one another since they're sister brands. If you have status with one, you can submit a request to have it matched with the other.

Bottom line

Virgin Voyages prides itself on being a bit of an outlier in the cruise industry. The line has refreshingly managed to turn cruising on its head by eliminating buffets, hiring a resident drag queen and installing tattoo parlors on its ships.

Its current Sailing Club loyalty program hotel and airline status match is a great way to earn status and perks with a cruise line that offers a different way to cruise.

Introduction

Cruising is a popular vacation choice for many travelers, offering a unique combination of relaxation, entertainment, and exploration. Whether you’re a seasoned cruiser or planning your first voyage, loyalty programs offered by cruise lines can add an extra layer of benefits and perks to your experience.

These loyalty programs are designed to reward and recognize repeat customers, encouraging brand loyalty and providing incentives to keep coming back for more. Each cruise line offers its own loyalty program, with varying levels and benefits. In this article, we will explore some of the top cruise lines and their loyalty programs to help you determine which one best matches your travel preferences and interests.

From Carnival Cruise Line to Disney Cruise Line, these programs offer a range of rewards such as complimentary Wi-Fi, priority boarding, onboard credits, discounted fares, room upgrades, and even exclusive access to events and experiences. By joining a loyalty program, you not only get to enjoy these benefits but also become part of a community of like-minded travelers who share your passion for cruising.

Whether you’re a frequent cruiser or someone looking to embark on your first cruise, choosing a loyalty program that aligns with your preferences can enhance your overall cruise experience. The program’s offerings can vary, but most operate on a tier basis, rewarding travelers based on their loyalty status.

Some programs may require you to accumulate points or cruise credits, while others may offer tier status based on the number of cruises you have taken. As you move up the loyalty ladder, you unlock additional benefits and perks.

In the following sections, we will delve into the loyalty programs offered by some of the top cruise lines, highlighting their unique features and benefits. Whether you’re seeking the family-friendly atmosphere of Disney Cruise Line or the luxury and sophistication of Celebrity Cruises, there is a loyalty program out there that can match your cruising preferences and provide you with an unforgettable vacation experience.

Carnival Cruise Line Loyalty Program

Carnival Cruise Line offers the Carnival Players Club as its loyalty program, designed to reward guests for their continued loyalty and support. The program operates on a tier system, with three membership levels: Blue, Gold, and Platinum.

As a member of the Carnival Players Club, you will earn points based on your level of play in the ship’s casino. The more you play, the more points you earn, and the higher your membership level becomes. This allows you to unlock a variety of exclusive perks and benefits.

The Blue level is the starting point for all new members, offering benefits such as free drinks in the casino and discounted entry into slot and blackjack tournaments. As you accumulate more points, you will progress to the Gold level, where you will enjoy additional benefits like priority check-in, a complimentary beverage at the casino bar, and priority debarkation at the end of your cruise.

For those who reach the Platinum level, the rewards become even more enticing. Platinum members enjoy benefits such as priority access to spa treatments, complimentary laundry service, and a free beverage tray in their stateroom. They also receive a special invitation to the Captain’s Cocktail Party.

In addition to these tier-based perks, all members of the Carnival Players Club can take advantage of benefits like discounted rates on future cruises, exclusive invites to onboard events, and even a dedicated toll-free number for priority assistance. The club also offers special promotions and giveaways throughout the year, giving members more opportunities to earn rewards.

If you’re a frequent cruiser with Carnival Cruise Line, the Carnival Players Club loyalty program can provide you with a range of exclusive benefits and rewards. Whether you’re a casual gambler or a high roller, the program allows you to earn points and progress through the tiers, unlocking new levels of excitement and perks along the way.

So, if you enjoy the thrill of the casino and love cruising with Carnival, be sure to sign up for the Carnival Players Club loyalty program. It’s a fantastic way to enhance your cruise experience and enjoy the perks and privileges that come with being a valued member.

Royal Caribbean Loyalty Program

Royal Caribbean offers one of the most comprehensive loyalty programs in the cruise industry, known as the Crown & Anchor Society. This program aims to reward guests for their loyalty and provide them with a range of exclusive benefits and perks.

The Crown & Anchor Society operates on a tier system, with six membership levels: Gold, Platinum, Emerald, Diamond, Diamond Plus, and Pinnacle. As you cruise with Royal Caribbean, you accumulate points that determine your membership level. The more points you earn, the higher your tier and the greater the rewards.

Starting at the Gold level, which is achieved after your first cruise, you will enjoy benefits such as priority check-in, exclusive onboard offers, and access to a dedicated call center for personalized assistance. As you progress to higher tiers, the perks become even more enticing.

At the Platinum level, you will receive benefits like a dedicated seating area in the main dining room, priority access to the spa and fitness center, and a welcome amenity delivered to your stateroom. As you reach the Emerald level, you gain access to exclusive events and special discounts on Royal Caribbean merchandise.

For the Diamond level and above, the benefits become even more impressive. Diamond members receive a nightly cocktail hour with complimentary drinks, priority seating for shows and entertainment, and access to the concierge lounge. Diamond Plus members enjoy additional perks such as a commemorative gift, access to the suites lounge and a private breakfast venue.

Finally, the Pinnacle level is reserved for the most loyal and frequent cruisers. Pinnacle members enjoy all the benefits of the previous levels, as well as exclusive perks like priority access to shore excursions, personalized signature gifts, and an annual complimentary cruise.

We are NCL Platinum and were matched to Black

It looks like I should have done a little more research. We are platinum on both Carnival and NCL. I status matched us with Carnival, that makes us gold. If I used NCL, we would be black. I used Carnival because we have more cruises with them than with NCL.

It was very easy for us to do. We are just a measly gold on Carnival, and we got status matched to silver on MSC. I'm pleased with that - it gained us a few perks that we didn't otherwise earn.

I did the same thing! I called and CS told me to resubmit the form. I did that Wed. and received an email from MSC stating we had been changed from Gold status to BLACK status! Not sure how long it has been since you did it but might be worth a try. I noticed it and had it changed within a week.

evandbob

Carnival Diamond equates to a Black Card MSC match.

I appreciate that not many Holland America loyalists will be switching to MSC, but at the price and inclusions for YC in the Caribbean we are certainly adding MSC bookings.

HAL 4-Star matches to BLACK.

NCL Platinum Plus is also MSC Black.

Same with us. We applied for status match over two weeks ago and haven’t received a reply yet. Did you reapply or get a email from MSC yet?

It took 2 weeks for mine also, at a week and a half I snail mailed mine just in case the online one didn't go through, then got matched

Cool Cruiser

As an MLife Gold member with MGM, I matched to Voyagers Club Silver. Was hoping for Gold, but not complaining. Will not be looking a gift horse in the mouth considering I didn't have to do much to receive additional perks.

That was true about four years ago when we matched but is not longer the case. Really not fair to the folks who built up their loyalty status the typical way. We walked onto our first MSC ship as Diamond.  Now you get Gold.
