Leah Remini is not holding back with her claims about Scientology.

In her new tell-all book, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology , the actress and now ex-Scientologist presents a startling account of the ill-fated wedding of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, including shocking events she says occurred before, during, and after the big day, as well as a particularly disturbing claim regarding the treatment of the couple’s daughter, Suri.

Here are eight of the most shocking allegations from Leah’s book.

WATCH: Leah Remini Tears Up Talking About Katie Holmes Leaving Scientology: 'She Had to Protect Her Daughter'

1. Leah was allowed to meet Tom Cruise after donating $1 million to the International Association of Scientology. “The mere fact that I was fit to be in Tom’s presence was a huge compliment. The actor wasn’t just an A-list movie star but a pillar of the church,” Leah writes of her first encounter with the actor, whose entourage of “heavily contributing, with-the-program Scientologists” she would eventually join. Though, the actress says that neither Kirstie Alley nor John Travolta were a part of that group, because she claims “Tom didn’t like them.”

2. Leah’s first encounter with Katie Holmes was during a salsa dance lesson, which Tom had requested of her and her husband, Angelo. “I didn’t know Katie and Tom were dating, but I quickly got the picture since he couldn’t keep his hands off her,” she says, adding that she was uncomfortable with the way “he was manhandling Katie, dipping her in a forceful way and then making out with her.”

3. Tom liked to host celebrity-filled dinners and play games at his home. “I came to think of him as a big kid with his loud laugh, high energy, and goofy ideas of fun,” Leah writes. “Like when he invited some Scientologists and a few other celebrities like Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, to his house and announced he wanted to play hide-and-seek.” Though, Leah says she did not participate in the games because she was wearing five-inch Jimmy Choos.

4. Leah’s invite to Tom and Katie’s wedding came with a caveat: an invitation to bring Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony along. After revealing to the actress that the couple was planning to get married, Leah claims they asked if she would invite her high-profile friends. According to the King of Queens star, Katie admitted that they didn’t “know them that well” but seemed intent on changing that. While in Italy, Leah writes that TomKat asked Jennifer and Marc to go for a beachside walk with them, claiming that the newlyweds were insistent that they not leave the wedding reception early.

5. Tom and Katie’s star-studded wedding guest list included Brooke Shields. According to Leah, Brooke was on the same chartered plane as her and Angelo. Of course, Leah says Brooke was surprised by the invite because it came after she and Tom had famously gotten into a media fight over antidepressants.

6. Before the wedding, Suri was found crying on the bathroom floor. In one of the more shocking allegations in the book, Leah says that she came upon three women standing over Tom and Katie’s seven-month-old daughter in a restaurant bathroom. The actress writes that the women “were looking at her like they thought she was L. Ron Hubbard incarnate, and addressing her more like an adult than a baby.” In order to soothe the baby, Leah claims that she “grabbed the bottle from Suri’s diaper bag, went into the kitchen, asked someone to warm it up, which of course was no problem, and returned to the bathroom, where Suri was still on the floor and crying.”

7. Katie kept Tom waiting a long time at the altar. Leah says that after Tom took his place at the front of the chapel, he stood there “for the next twenty minutes (but what seemed like an eternity)” with “that everything-is-great look plastered on his face even as the crowd grew uncomfortable." While Leah offers no explanation as to why Katie was late, she writes that, at one point, J.Lo asked her, "Do you think Katie is coming?"

8. Following the wedding, Leah was written up for poor behavior and forced to apologize to Katie. Leah claims the new bride accused her of “disrupting the party” and setting a “poor example to others." She then writes that to make amends for her supposed digressions, Leah sent expensive gifts to Katie and several of the guests. I spent $2,000 on framing the invitation and other mementos from the Cruise wedding in a picture box for Katie,” writes Leah, who claims she also included a note saying, “I’m so sorry that I destroyed your wedding,” to which Katie allegedly replied, “Just handle it with your MAA.”

WATCH: Katie Holmes Responds to Leah Remini’s Scientology Interview: I Regret Upsetting Her

The Church of Scientology released a statement to ET regarding Remini's recent claims in both her book and her recent interviews. The statement reads: "It comes as no surprise that someone as self-absorbed as Leah Remini with an insatiable craving for attention would exploit her former faith as a publicity stunt by rewriting her history with it, including omitting that she was participating in a program to remain a Scientologist by her own choice, as she was on the verge of being expelled for her ethical lapses."

While Leah has been promoting her book, Katie responded via her representatives last week, “I regret having upset Leah in the past and wish her only the best in the future."

This is why Katie Holmes owed Leah Remini an apology

The mystery behind Katie Holmes' apology to Leah Remini earlier on Friday has been solved.

On Friday's "20/20," Remini described how the former Mrs. Tom Cruise contributed to getting her punished by the Church of Scientology.

For Remini, it actually began with Cruise. She said that she had become critical of the movie star. She felt his behavior was damaging the public's view of the church.

"I was saying that I didn't think he was becoming of Scientologists, jumping on couches , and attacking Matt Lauer , to attacking Brooke Shields ," Remini explained. "What the hell is this guy doing? We need to rein it in. We need to stop all this. And he just needs to be an actor."

Remini says she was "immediately dealt with" and accused of projecting her own problems onto Cruise. But to her surprise, Remini was invited to Cruise and Holmes' wedding.

While at the wedding, Remini saw things that bothered her. Afterward, she filed what's known as a "knowledge report" with the church in which she detailed what she viewed was wrong in the organization.

"I thought I now see where the cracks are in our church," Remini remembered. "And it's [the leader of the Church of Scientology] Dave Miscavige. It's Tom Cruise. They were bringing Scientology down."

A representative for the Church of Scientology told ABC News that Remini's statements about the wedding are not only "untrue" but "ridiculous and stupid."

Remini alleged she was then sent to their headquarters in Clearwater, Florida for three to four months for "reprogramming." She said they wanted her to recant her knowledge report and apologize.

Remini said she then found out that several members had written knowledge reports about her behavior at the wedding. They accused of her being loud and rude, for switching tables, for upgrading her hotel room, among other bad behavior.

She said she also found out that one of those people who complained about her was Holmes. Remini read from a document, which she claims was the knowledge report Holmes wrote about her:

"I was dismayed at the behavior of Leah Remini during the events leading up to our wedding and our wedding. The behavior of a guest, a friend, that was very upsetting."

In 2012, Holmes left Cruise after six years of marriage and fled Scientology with their daughter, Suri. That was an eye-opener for Remini.

"I said, 'Where's my apology?' Remini recalled. On Friday, the 45-year-old actress finally got it.

Holmes released the following statement to press:  "I regret having upset Leah in the past and wish her only the best in the future."

Remini has yet to comment on the apology.

During the "20/20" special, Remini also explained how she was punished for saying something to Cruise and Holmes during a social visit when Cruise was "forcibly kissing" the former "Dawson's Creek" actress.

"I said, 'Eh, get a frickin' room?' and, well, I was written up for that," Remini said.

Holmes has been very tight lipped about Scientology since leaving Cruise. But the "Mission Impossible" actor did confirm in a court deposition that Holmes left the marriage to protect Suri from Scientology.

Remini, who joined Scientology with her mother at 8, began to clash more with Scientology. Her biggest sticking point would become the disappearance of her friend and Miscavige's wife, Shelly . Remini left Scientology in July 2013. Her own daughter was also coming of age in the organization, and Remini said she didn't want that life for her .

Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes Ditched Suri Before Their Wedding Day, According To Leah Remini

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise smiling

Tom Cruise's relationship with Katie Holmes has been making headlines since they began dating in 2005. They got engaged the same year and welcomed their baby girl, Suri Cruise, on April 18, 2006. A few months later, they tied the knot at Odescalchi Castle in Bracciano, Italy. Unfortunately, this fairytale romance ended in 2012 when Holmes filed for divorce. "He had no idea this was coming," a source told People .

The "Dawson's Creek" star received custody of her daughter and went the extra mile to keep her away from Cruise's religion, Scientology. That's actually part of the reason she divorced him, Cruise said during a deposition. Following these events, the actor became estranged from his daughter, Suri , whereas Holmes got closer to her.

"My child is the most important person to me, and her upbringing is paramount to my work right now. It's very important that I'm present, and she has a stable, innocent childhood," the actress told Town and Country in 2017. However, things haven't always been this way, according to Leah Remini. "The Kings of Queens" star claims that both Cruise and Holmes neglected Suri when she was just a baby.

Leah Remini implies Tom Cruise and his ex-wife neglected their daughter

Katie Holmes holding baby Suri

Former Scientologist Leah Remini had strong ties with Tom Cruise and his ex-wife since the beginning of their romance. "I knew Katie when she was in [Scientology], and she seemed very indoctrinated into Tom's world," the "Mad Families" actress said on  "The Adam Carolla Show."  Remini also attended their pre-wedding dinner, which changed the way she felt about the former power couple.

According to her memoir, "Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology," Holmes and Cruise neglected their daughter during the party, per the Daily News . Everyone in the room could hear a baby crying through the walls, but they didn't do anything about it. After five minutes, Remini went to the bathroom, where she found Suri lying on the floor. The child was seven months old at the time.

One of Cruise's sisters and two other women were staring at Suri, yelling at her to calm down. "Rather than talking to her in a soothing voice, they kept saying, 'Suri! Suri!' in a tone that sounded like they were telling an adult to get her s*** together," Remini recalled in her memoir (via  E! News ). What's even more shocking is that neither Cruise nor Holmes seemed to care about it.

Katy Holmes turned out to be a great mother

Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise

Parenting is a learned skill that takes time to develop. Over the years, Katie Holmes proved to be a great mother, and her daughter, Suri Cruise, grew up to be stunning . The "Miss Meadows" actress raised her as a single parent, supporting her every step of the way. "My biggest goal has always been to nurture her into her individuality. To make sure she is 100 percent herself and strong, confident, and able. And to know it," Holmes told InStyle .

In 2023, the actress helped her daughter apply for college. Suri considered several schools, especially those offering degree programs in fashion. Her father, Tom Cruise, had to pay her tuition, but it's her mother who inspires and guides her. "'Suri does not know her father anymore, and she has not spent time with him in a decade," a source told The Daily Mail .

According to "The Kings of Queens" star Leah Remini, Cruise must stay away from his daughter because of his religious beliefs. His ex-wife is labeled a suppressive person (SP) by the Church of Scientology, meaning that her behavior could negatively affect others. For this reason, the actor chose to limit contact with Holmes and Suri. But despite not having a father around, the young girl feels loved and looked after. "Katie has always put Suri first, and Suri loves her mom more than anything," an insider said.

Remini also alleged that she had to make amends to Cruise by donating money in honor of his daughter, Suri Cruise. The “King of Queens” actor said it has long been considered “a High Crime in Scientology to criticize (Tom) in any way,” while noting that Miscavige told an audience of Scientologists at a 2004 gala in England that Cruise was “the most dedicated Scientologist I know.”

Remini, who has emerged as one of Scientology’s leading critics since leaving the organization in 2013, filed her 60-page complaint against the Church of Scientology and Miscavige Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court. She alleges she suffered years of harassment, intimidation and defamation as part of an organized campaign of retaliation because she has exposed alleged church abuses, starting with her 2015 memoir, “Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology” and in her Emmy-winning A&E docuseries, “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath.”

“For 17 years, Scientology and David Miscavige have subjected me to what I believe to be psychological torture, defamation, surveillance, harassment, and intimidation, significantly impacting my life and career,” Remini said in a news release she shared on Substack, CNN reported . “I believe I am not the first person targeted by Scientology and its operations, but I intend to be the last.”

In a statement, the Church of Scientology blasted Remini’s lawsuit as “ludicrous” and “frivolous” and said her allegations as “pure lunacy.”

“Remini spreads hate and falsehoods for a decade and is now offended when people exercise their right to free speech, exposing her for what she is — an anti-free speech bigot,” the statement said. The organization also said her “obsession with attacking her former religion, by spreading falsehoods and hate speech, has generated threats of and actual violence against the church and its members.”

“All the while … she has profited handsomely from her fabrications, through the sale of hate books, hate podcasts and paid-for tabloid hate television,” the statement continued.

Remini’s lawsuit contains multiple mentions of Cruise, who has long been one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars but who also has became the most famous public face of Scientology. Remini joined Scientology as a child and also became a prominent celebrity member, but she said her status in the church changed after Cruise’s lavish 2006 wedding to Holmes, his third wife.

The event in an Italian castle was billed as “the wedding of the century,” which is why Remini said in her lawsuit that she was surprised that Miscavige’s wife, Michele “Shelly” Miscavige, was “was nowhere to be found.” Shelly Miscavige was assistant to her husband, the “chairman of the board” and her “job was to constantly record everything” he said “so that a team of secretaries could later transcribe his words and orders for dissemination throughout Scientology.”

“When Ms. Remini asked a group of Scientology executives and Tom Cruise’s personal handlers … ‘Where is Shelly?’ she was immediately admonished by the group, despite the fact that she and Ms. Miscavige were good friends,” the lawsuit said.

Remini said she also witnessed other behavior at the wedding that “set off red flags for her, including unethical contacts between various Scientology executives and others at the wedding which she understood to be forbidden by Scientology teachings,” the lawsuit said. In accordance with Scientology practices, which Remini “had been brainwashed” into following, she shared her concerns in a written “Knowledge Report” that she submitted to the church.

But apparently, church executives didn’t like what she wrote. Remini alleges she was ordered to report to the the church’s “spiritual headquarters” in Clearwater, Florida, where she was confronted with “dozens of internal reports from Scientologists complaining about her behavior at the wedding,” the lawsuit said. It “became clear” to Remini that she was being punished for asking where Shelly Miscavige was and for filing reports on David Miscavige and others.”

Remini alleges she was forced to stay at the headquarters, where she had to “undergo” four months of “ethics” training, which she said cost her hundreds of thousands and dollars and which she described as “one of her life’s worst nightmares.”

Actor Tom Cruise and his wife, actress Katie Holmes, arrive at the 2012 Vanity Fair Oscar party in West Hollywood, California in this February 26, 2012 file photo. The couple settled their divorce on July 9, 2012 in what her lawyer called a

Remini ultimately left the left headquarters and returned to Los Angeles, but she said she “was forced to lie to her colleagues, friends, and family about what happened while she was in Florida.”

To regain her standing in the church, Remini said she had to make peace with David and Cruise. But to do that, she said “she was forced to donate money to name a seat in a theater after Suri Cruise and was forced to raise money for donation to Scientology causes led by Tom Cruise,” the lawsuit said.

The Church of Scientology is widely known for its associations with Hollywood celebrities, including Cruise, John Travolta and Elisabeth Moss. But it has faced growing scrutiny in recent years amid allegations of physical, sexual and financial abuse made by former members. Some of those allegations were made in Remini’s docuseries, while others were exposed in HBO’s 2015 documentary, “Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief,” based on a book by Lawrence Wright.

In its statement, the church suggested that Remini is spreading “propaganda” because she can’t work in Hollywood. If she can’t get work, she has “nobody to blame but herself.”

“While Remini was in the church, she had to restrain her antisocial traits,” the statement said. “She said so herself—that Scientology was the only thing keeping her ‘monster’ at bay. The church is not intimidated by Remini’s latest act of blatant harassment and attempt to prevent truthful free speech. If Remini does not believe in free speech, then she should consider emigrating to Russia.”

Leah Remini Claims She Received This Astonishing Punishment for Her Behavior at Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes' Wedding

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, SheKnows may receive an affiliate commission.

Leah Remini’s jaw-dropping lawsuit against the Church of Scientology for claims of stalking and harassment chronicles numerous incidents that she endured over the year. But there’s one major story that revolves around the 2006 wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes that has us shocked. The former King of Queens star spoke about it in her 2015 book, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology , but the legal documents go even further to reveal how somebody else’s big day changed everything for her.

More from SheKnows

The Moment Leah Remini Knew She Had To Leave Scientology

At the TomKat nuptials in Italy, Remini questioned the whereabouts of leader David Miscavige’s wife, Shelley, who “was nowhere to be found.” That inquiry set off a chain of events that led to a severe punishment, according to the legal documents obtained by Yahoo Entertainment . The 53-year-old actress wrote a “Knowledge Report” to the church where she expressed her concerns about Shelley. Instead of being seen as a helpful member of the church, Remini was reportedly sent to the Scientology “spiritual” headquarters in Clearwater, Florida.

Calling it “one of her life’s worst nightmares,” Remini was reprimanded for four months after being “presented with dozens of internal reports from Scientologists complaining about her behavior at the wedding.” The suit alleges that this process “cost her hundreds of thousands of dollars and nearly led her to have a psychotic breakdown” until she finally relented and took back her report about Shelley. In essence, she was being forced to admit that “she was the problem in this situation ( despite it not being true ).”

The reported punishment didn’t end there. Remini alleged that she also had to make amends with the head of Scientology and Cruise by donating “money to name a seat in a theater after Suri Cruise” and “raise money for donation to Scientology causes led by Tom Cruise.” By the time Remini exited the Church of Scientology in 2013, she believes she had spent around $5 million of her personal fortune over 35 years as member of the church.

The Church of Scientology reached out to SheKnows and called Remini’s lawsuit “pure lunacy.” (Read the full statement here .)

How Leah Remini Shaded Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes' Parenting Style

Leah Remini long red hair smiling

Since breaking away from Scientology in 2013, Leah Remini has been an outspoken critic of the controversial organization. According to Tony Ortega , the actor quit following extensive "thought modification" for questioning why David Miscavige 's wife, Shelly Miscavige, who hasn't been seen since 2007, didn't attend Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' star-studded Italian wedding in 2006. Adding to her "Suppressive Person" status, Remini has also taken aim at Tom personally, shading his and Holmes' parenting of their daughter, Suri Cruise.

According to an InStyle timeline, Tom and Holmes were first spotted together in April 2005. A month later, he was manically leaping around on Oprah's sofa and declaring his undying love for Holmes. In June, they announced their engagement. Ten months later, in April 2006, Suri, their only child, was born. "The moment the doctor handed me Suri, I was just ready. The feeling is indescribable," Holmes told Vanity Fair . "All I can say is the moment I looked in her eyes, I felt like ... Mom."

Suri was front and center when her parents said "I do" in November 2006. According to The New York Times , Scientology weddings are pretty unique. During the "traditional ceremony" that TomKat reportedly had, the officiant offered advice to the groom. "Now, Tom, girls need clothes and food and tender happiness and frills, a pan, a comb, perhaps a cat. All caprice, if you will, but still they need them." Well, forget the cat; he'd have been better suited sharing advice on good parenting instead.

Bawling bathroom baby

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise carrying Suri Cruise

Leah Remini isn't holding back on her thoughts about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' parenting skills. According to Remini, it wasn't just the pan, comb, and cat vows that made the big fat TomKat wedding extravaganza off-kilter. The New York Daily News printed excerpts from Remini's tell-all "Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology," and her observations about Suri Cruise's treatment are eyebrow-raising, to say the least.

Remini alleges that during the wedding rehearsal dinner, Suri, who was just 7 months old, could be heard bawling by guests. She claims that everybody, including Tom and Holmes, kept calm and carried on regardless, ignoring the echoing howls from above. However, it became too much for Remini, and she went to check on Suri, who she discovered lying on a bathroom floor. Adding an extra layer of weirdness, one of Tom's three sisters, his personal assistant, and another woman stood around Suri, providing no comfort to the distressed little girl; instead, just watching her wail.

Remini claims that the trio was transfixed by the sobbing Suri, watching her like she was "L. Ron Hubbard incarnate." For anybody not in the Scientology know, ABC notes that Hubbard, a science fiction writer, founded Scientology in the 1950s and its off-shoot, the Sea Organization, in 1967. He died from a stroke in 1986, leading to David Miscavige taking over the reins. Remini explains that she eventually persuaded the Cruise three to remove Suri from the bathroom floor and feed her some warm milk.

The continuing controversy

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise smiling with Suri Cruise

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes caused controversy over their daughter, Suri Cruise before she was even born. Given Tom's devout adherence to Scientology's doctrines, it was reported that Holmes followed the organization's rule that childbearing be carried out in silence — a regulation clearly not introduced by a woman. The Guardian lists L. Ron Hubbard's Scientology-mandated birthing directive. "Maintain silence in the presence of birth to save both the sanity of the mother and the child," he decreed. "And the maintaining of silence does not mean a volley of sh's."

Meanwhile, Suri's recommended baby diet was also cause for concern. Scientology spokesperson Karin Pouw told People that Hubbard proposed infants be fed a mixture of barley water, milk, and corn syrup as "a healthy, natural alternative to store-bought formulas."

Tom and Holmes' choices over Suri's schooling were questionable, too. The Independent notes that until she was 6, Suri attended the New Village Leadership Academy in Calabasas, which uses Hubbard's "study technology" to teach kids. "[Suri] is coming to an age where she gets educated enough to get locked into the faith," former Scientologist Marty Rathbun explained. "That's why there's almost certainly truth in the consideration that schools have started coming into play in all this." Cruise's insistence that their daughter be indoctrinated in the tenets of Scientology was reportedly a significant factor in Holmes divorcing him. She flatly refused to allow Suri to continue attending the New Village Leadership Academy, instead enrolling her in a Catholic school.

Leah Remini Reveals Katie Holmes Left Scientology to Protect Her Daughter, Suri Cruise

Leah Remini dedicated nearly 30 years of her life to Scientology , but after leaving the religion (which many refer to as a cult) back in 2013, she's adopted a new lifelong mission: to speak out against the church's bizarre teachings, borderline abusive practices, and mistreatment of its members. To help spread the word, Remini is publishing a tell-all book titled Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology (out November 3) and sat down for a revealing interview with 20/20 on Friday. Most recently, Remini visited Good Morning America to continue her vocal spree—and opened up about one of her fellow Scientology defectors, Katie Holmes .

Remini spoke candidly on 20/20 about Tom Cruise and his then-wife, Holmes, and their extremely high-ranking position within Scientology. "Being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of Scientology itself," she said on 20/20 . "You are evil." Remini was even reprimanded and sent for four months of "reprogramming" after "ruining the wedding of the century" by speaking out against the behavior of Cruise and church leader David Miscavige. Katie Holmes did not appear on 20/20 to comment, but she did send along a statement that read: "I regret having upset Leah in the past and wish her only the best in the future."

Remini responded to Holmes' statement in a taped interview shown on GMA this morning. "I'm smiling because it almost makes me want to cry," she said. "It makes me emotional because at the time that Katie and this particular crew were writing reports, it caused me a lot of time and pain in my family, being reprogrammed. So at the time I was fighting with her—I guess for the lack of the better word—within the church, and now I know really what she was going through. At the time I was thinking of myself and my family and what we were going through and, although painful, I had no idea she was going through probably a lot more."

Remini also says that Katie Holmes fled Scientology to protect her daughter, Suri. "In looking back now and seeing her [Holmes] and Suri out there in the world, and her being able to be with her daughter and live her life—you know I'm touched by it," Remini said. "Because I know now she did what she did, leaving [Scientology] in the way that she did, because she had to protect her daughter. Which, in a way, connects us now."

And Leah Remini also offered some words for Katie Holmes: "It's really because we both left that we are able to have this kind of grace toward each other, because we are back to being human."

Katie Holmes Is Kicking Off Fall Layering Season Early

Leah Remini Says Katie Holmes Had "Some Balls" to Leave Tom Cruise and Scientology

The actress details her experiences with the church and the former couple in a new memoir, troublemaker: surviving hollywood and scientology.

Leah Remini  says  Katie Holmes had "some balls" to leave Tom Cruise and his religion, Scientology,  and adds that "all is forgiven" between her and the actress following past turmoil.

The 45-year-old King of Queens alum was raised in the church and left it in 2013 . Remini details her experiences, including some involving the former couple, in a new memoir,  Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology.  She been opening up about her past in recent interviews.

Remini attended the 2006 wedding of Cruise, the most famous celebrity Scientologist, and Holmes. They divorced in 2012. She seemingly cut all ties to the religion, left Los Angeles and moved with their daughter Suri Cruise , now 9, to New York.

"When she left and the manner that Katie left, I was like, 'Wow, the girl has some balls, she has some chutzpah,'" Remini told E! News exclusively. "Looking back on it now, I wish we...had been closer because I had no idea. Imagine what I had gone through, but she was really, in, in it."

Remini has said she left Scientology for the sake of her and husband Anthony Pagan 's 11-year-old daughter,  Sofia Pagan .

"I'm just guessing that this was a very hard decision, but not hard when it comes to your child, and that's where now we are connected and I understand and admire her strength," Remini told E! News about Holmes. "I'm probably the only person who can understand what she's experienced and a few others."

Cruise has remained mum about Remini's comments on his personal life and Scientology. The church has denied claims she has made about the organization, which also includes  John Travolta and  Kirstie Alley among its celebrity members.

The actress recently said that at one point during Cruise and Holmes' marriage, she and the actress were "fighting."  Holmes had said in a statement last week, "I regret having upset Leah in the past and I wish her only the best in the future."

"I would never want to put Katie in a position where she felt she had to speak to me," Remini told E! News. "Of course, I would speak to her, of course I would embrace her with an open heart."

"All is forgiven, as far as I'm concerned, because again, it's only because we are out that we are able to experience this type of grace towards each other because in my mentality, and the people that I knew, we were very militant about the way we conducted ourselves," the actress said.

Remini had told  20/20  she was reprimanded by a Scientology official for  telling Cruise and Holmes to "get a frickin' room " after they engaged in some PDA. Submitting "Knowledge Reports" about fellow church members is common, according to Remini.

Remini told E! News she has been going to therapy. The Church of Scientology opposes psychiatry, which it dubs " psychiatric abuse ." In a 2005 Today show,  Cruise called psychiatry a "pseudo-science ."

Remini told E! News she is "opening her heart to the world."

"I'm trying to embrace people for who they are as opposed to secretly judging them for not being Scientologists and being lost," she said.

Leah Remini Claims That Tom Cruise Waited at the Altar for Katie Holmes for 20 Minutes: 5 Shocking Scientology Tell-All Reveals

Was there a couch to jump on? Leah Remini’s tell-all, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology , is officially on bookshelves — and as juicy as promised. The King of Queens actress is revealing even more alleged details about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes ‘ 2006 nuptials in Italy — where, Remini claims, Katie Holmes made her husband-to-be wait at the altar for 20 minutes.

Remini, 45 — who was asked to bring her superstar BFF Jennifer Lopez along — says that the delayed service was uncomfortable. She writes that Holmes’ tardiness, in fact, made Lopez wonder if the actress was even going to show. “Do you think Katie is coming?” she supposedly asked Remini at the time, via The Hollywood Reporter .

Check out four more shocking alleged revelations below:

1. Dance Floor Naughtiness Guests at the lavish Italy wedding apparently took advantage of the music, according to THR . Remini claims that Scientologist Norman Starkey, who officiated the ceremony, was spotted “humping Brooke Shields on the dance floor.” Just one year earlier, Cruise criticized his pal Shields when the actress revealed she took antidepressants.

2. Big Bucks, Big Meet and Greet As previously reported, Remini and her husband, Angelo Pagan, were invited to Cruise and Holmes’ Los Angeles home to teach them salsa lessons. But the actual visit, she claims in her book, was given as a reward after Remini donated $1 million to the Church of Scientology. Via THR , Remini says she was later reprimanded when she told the lovebirds to “get a freaking room.”

3. Mug Madness Remini alleges that Cruise had a meltdown when his assistant gave him a chipped mug. “‘You served me tea in a chipped mug? Do you know who gets served with a mug that’s chipped? F–king DBs,'” Cruise reportedly said, according to Remini’s book. (“DB” means “Degraded Being” in Scientology.) At another time, Remini claims that Cruise went off when the assistant gave him prepackaged cookie dough. She quotes him as saying: “‘Get in the f–king present time, is what you need to do.'”

4. Dancing Drama! Remini reveals that Scientology also came into play when she appeared on Season 17 of Dancing With the Stars in 2013. In her tell-all, she writes that her pro partner, Tony Dovolani, was followed by a car for two weeks. In addition, she claims that Scientologist Kirstie Alley had a falling out with her former pro partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, when the Ukrainian hunk became friends with Remini. (Alley and Chmerkovskiy were partners in Season 12.) “Maks didn’t take it too hard,” Remini recalled.

Scientology debunked Remini’s claims in a statement following her 20/20 interview last Friday. “Sadly, bitterness and anger are common threads through Ms. Remini’s life. Rather than take responsibility for self-inflicted problems, she is quick to blame others,” the Church of Scientology said in a statement. “Her repeated ethical lapses and callous treatment of others led to an ecclesiastical review which resulted in her being expelled. She now regurgitates the tired myths the Church has repeatedly debunked, circulated by the same tiny clique of expelled former staffers bitter at having lost the positions they enjoyed before their malfeasance and unethical conduct were uncovered.”

Leah Remini Reflects on Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and "Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars" Spent on Scientology

Leah Remini is telling all about the Church of Scientology.

In an exclusive 20/20 special on Friday night, the former King of Queens star and Troublemaker : Surviving Hollywood and Scientology author sat down with ABC News’ Dan Harris to discuss her 30-year involvement, and later abandonment, of the church.

At the age of 7, Remini joined the Church of Scientology in New York with her mother and sister after her parents’ divorce. “You learn how to apply the techniques of Scientology to yourself and others,” Remini said of what she learned about the religion. “Because Scientologists view children as spiritual beings, you’re not treated as a kid, so you’re given a lot of responsibility. Your ego becomes extremely inflated.”

After plugging into the New York branch, Remini moved with her mother and sister to Clearwater, Fla., and enrolled in Sea Org, the full-time religious order of the church at its headquarters, where she signed a billion year contract to commit herself to the church.

Remini  said that “you live in roach-infested dorms with other children” while at Sea Org and “could go from working in a laundry room to working industrial sanders.” Though she was “learning how to learn Scientology” and the food “didn’t taste like food and you had to get it at a certain time,” she considered the church her home.

But during her one-year involvement at Sea Org, Remini and her then-boyfriend partook in physical actions the church deemed inappropriate. “I allowed my boyfriend at the time … to go like this over my shirt,” she said while lighting touching her breast over her shirt. Remini remarked the action was a church violation and she was threatened to be put in the rehabilitation project force. “When you have screwed up royally in the Sea Org, it’s basically to reform you. You have to wear black, you have to run everywhere you go, you have to call everyone sir. It’s pretty severe punishment for an adult, not to mention a child,” Remini said.

Remini was “dismissed” for her inability to maintain the ethical standards related to fraternization, which spurred the family’s relocation to Los Angeles a year into living at the Florida campus.

In the mid-’80s , after the family’s cross-country move, she lived close to the Los Angeles Scientology center in Hollywood and stayed deeply involved in the religion because her mother thought the incident in Florida was a failure of specific people, not the church as a whole.

While living close to the Hollywood building, Remini , her mother and sister got plugged into church classes and auditing on a daily basis. “Moving up the bridge to total freedom: It promotes that you get into higher levels of awareness as a spiritual being,” Remini said. She said that the cost of courses and auditing is “Thousands and thousands. Hundreds of thousands of dollars through your career.”

As a way to avoid bussing tables and make more money while living in Los Angeles, Remini gave acting a shot — and credited Scientology for her success. “There’s tools that are very, very helpful to you and your life, to you as an actor,” she said referring to clear communication, doggedness and persistence as what she drew from it. “So I walked into a room, where some people might cower in front of a casting director — I wasn’t.”

After scoring roles on Living Dolls , Cheers , Saved By the Bell , NYPD Blue , and Fired Up , the actress met her husband Angelo, who also joined the religion for her. “I would have done anything (for Remini ),” he said.

As her involvement in the Hollywood branch deepened, Remini was introduced to church leader David Miscavige (“He’s very charismatic. He’s very powerful. He’s likable,” she said) and fellow celebrity member Tom Cruise , who declined to comment for ABC News’ report.

“At first, it’s very effusive, it’s very, very loving. You get the laser in on you and you’re the most important thing that ever happened,” she said of her first impressions of Cruise. She recalled meeting both Cruise and Katie Holmes at the actor’s home one evening. Remini received a call from a church official that said Cruise wanted her to come over and teach him salsa dancing. Two high-ranking Scientology officials were there with the actor at his home and so was Holmes, then his new girlfriend, when Remini arrived.

“He was forcibly kissing Katie. I said, ‘Hey, get a freakin’ room.’ I was written up for that and I had to go into session for it,” Remini said. The actress said that church members regularly write knowledge reports on others, and the individuals then have to answer for it in auditing sessions.

“You can assume if you say something that is critical to the church, you will be written up. Husband-wife, mother-daughter. It’s what the group does to regulate itself,” said Remini , who reflected that she wrote up her husband “all the time.”

The actress started taking notice of Cruise’s public actions and believed there was a disconnect between his behavior and what the church stood for. “I’m saying I don’t think he’s becoming of Scientologists , jumping on couches and attacking Matt Lauer and attacking Brooke Shields. What the hell is this guy doing? We need to rein it in. We need to stop all this and he just needs to be an actor” Remini said of her thoughts on Cruise at the time.

“I was immediately dealt with,” Remini said. “[I was told] the only reason you’re saying these things is because you have your own transgressions, so you then become guilty,” she continued. “Being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of Scientology itself. You are a person who is anti the aims and goals of Scientology. You are evil.”

“I would refer to him even in my own session. I was like, ‘You’re doing this for a freakin’ actor?’ Like it was so beneath what was truly important,” Remini said of Miscavige and allowing Cruise to act the way he did. “He’s just an actor.”

In November 2006, Remini attended the Cruise-Holmes wedding in Italy and her friends, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, were invited by the church on Cruise’s behalf. Throughout the wedding festivities, Remini says she was separated from Lopez; they did not travel in the same car to and from the wedding and were not seated together.

“They were trying to extract me … I can only assume because they wanted to make Jennifer a Scientologist. Maybe I was barring that road for them,” Remini said.

Also during the wedding, Remini noticed that Miscavige’s wife, Shelly, was not in attendance. “Shelly was always where David Miscavige was. For such a big event, a wedding of the century, it was like, ‘Where’s Shelly?’” The actress added that church officials would simply get up and leave whenever she asked where Shelly was.

“It’s such a simple thing. It’s a big wedding. The leader of the church is here and his wife isn’t. It’s getting weirder because you’re making it weirder,” Remini recalled. (The church has called Remini’s claims about the wedding “ridiculous and stupid.”)

Upon her return home from the wedding, Remini filed a wide-ranging knowledge report complaining about church members at the wedding and noted that both Miscavige and Cruise “were bringing Scientology down.”

“I was sent to Florida for reprogramming for three or four months,” she said as a result. “From 9 in the morning until 10 at night.” She said that numerous Scientologists filed written reports against her for disrupting the wedding, including a report from Holmes. “I was dismayed at the behavior of Leah Remini during the events leading up to our wedding and our wedding. The behavior as a guest, a friend, was very upsetting,” a line from Holmes’ report reads.

(Though Holmes declined to be interviewed by ABC News for its reports, her representatives provided the following statement on her behalf Friday: “I regret having upset Leah in the past and wish her only the best in the future.”)

“They were trying to get me to recant what I said; to apologize for ruining the wedding of the century,” Remini said of her time at the Florida center. “I wasn’t ready to leave the church. You are giving up everything you have ever known and everything you have worked for your whole life,” she said of why she didn’t leave the church at the time. “And so yes, I said everything they needed me to say. And once I did that, I was free to go home.”

Remini resumed her life as an active Scientologist and grew in the levels of the Church before Holmes and Cruise divorced in 2012. “I said, ‘Where’s my apology?’” following Holmes leaving Cruise and feeling vindicated. She said the divorce reignited her anger, which was contributed to by all of the money she spent on the church —  she received trophies for giving $2.5 million to Scientology charities. Her anger spurred her to look online and see what critics of the church said about the religion.

“I was heartbroken for myself and for my family. I didn’t want these things to be true” she said of reading negative accounts online about families being separated. And during that time, she contacted a former leader of the church, Mike Rinder: “Talking to me is like sleeping with the devil,” he said of Remini reaching out.

During the same time period, Remini demanded that church officials deliver a note to Shelly, since she wasn’t getting answers about where the church leader’s wife was. The actress told Harris that two high-ranking officials were sent to her house, where one of them called her a bitch, at which point her husband grabbed him by the collar, a pivotal moment that was a breaking point for Remini and her ties to the church.

The King of Queens star and her family members left the church soon after in the summer of 2013 and filed a missing person’s report on Shelly. Remini she said hadn’t been seen in public since August 2007. “It was sending a message to them that it’s not OK,” Remini said of the church not addressing Shelly’s whereabouts.

Scientology Ramps Up 'Going Clear' Smear Campaign, Contacts Academy Members

Following her separation from Scientology, Remini’s public comments led the church to defend itself against the actress. “Marking myself for whatever the church usually does to people who leave the church or speak out publicly is not a walk in the park. It’s not fun,” she said of the backlash she received.

In the process of abandoning her 30-year commitment to Scientology, Remini lost friends, including actress Kirstie Alley: “When you decide to blanket statement that all scientology is evil, you are my enemy,” Alley said.

“Anybody who criticizes the church is to cry that everybody is a bigot towards their religion and this is religious bigotry and I understand the position they’re in,” Remini said. “I was in the same position, I said similar things about people like me.”

While the church claims Remini is trying to stay relevant by talking about her experience with Scientology two years following her exit, Remini disagrees. “I wish I too could get over 30 years of this quickly. Unfortunately, it takes some time,” she said.

“In the end, I don’t regret what I’ve been through. I don’t regret spending my life there because it really did teach me a lot,” she told Harris. “And because we’ve all survived it, we’re all surviving it and living life and it’s kind of like we have a gift of second chance of life.”

In response to Remini’s comments, Scientology issued the following statement to ABC: “We are very happy Ms. Remini is no longer in the church.”

Katie Holmes Responds as Leah Remini Blasts Scientology: 'I Wish Her Only the Best'

Katie Holmes issues a statement responding to Remini's 20/20 interview

Writer-Reporter, PEOPLE

As Leah Remini speaks out about leaving Scientology after more than three decades in the controversial church, Katie Holmes provided a statement to ABC for Remini’s 20/20 interview

In response to a request for comment from 20/20 , Holmes issued the following statement, which was provided to PEOPLE by her publicist:

“I regret having upset Leah in the past, and wish her only the best in the future,” Holmes says.

VIDEO: Former Scientologist Leah Remini Shows Support for Scientology Doc

Holmes, who divorced Tom Cruise – one of Scientology’s most famous faces – after nearly six years of marriage in 2012, has never spoken out about Scientology or her ex-husband’s involvement in the church.

“In response to an email sent from the producers or fact-checkers from 20/20 asking a plethora of questions, we supplied no answers and instead gave only a one-sentence statement in response,” Holmes’ publicist told PEOPLE. “Katie is not making an appearance on the special, nor is she discussing Scientology, or her former marriage, and this quote was provided through her publicist.”

“For any outlet to suggest otherwise is misleading; I would think Leah and the book stand on their own, and don’t need to trade off Katie Holmes for people to tune in.”

In the 20/20 interview , Remini said that after Holmes’ wedding to Cruise, Holmes filed a “Knowledge Report” with the Church of Scientology criticizing Remini’s behavior at the wedding. Holmes did not comment to 20/20 about the alleged report.

“Being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of Scientology itself,” Remini said on 20/20 . “You are a person who is anti the aims and goals of Scientology, you are evil.”

She recalled an instance where she was asked by Scientology officials to teach Cruise salsa dancing, and when she met the actor at his home, that’s when she noticed how closely the church protected him.

She claimed that two high-ranking officials were present in the home to monitor the lesson, along with Holmes (who was dating Cruise at the time).

Remini, 45, said that when she commented on Cruise kissing Holmes throughout the night, she was written up and reported to the church.

Leah Remini Had To Step In At Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes' Wedding After Nobody Was Addressing Suri's Moment Of Distress

  • Leah Remini stepped in at Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' wedding when she saw that Suri, their daughter, was in distress and being ignored.
  • Remini found other incidents at the wedding upsetting, including the strange request to invite Jennifer Lopez and her then-husband, and the fact that Holmes reported Remini's behavior to the Church of Scientology.

Leah Remini found herself needing to step in at Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' wedding when she saw that nobody was addressing Suri when the infant was having a moment of distress.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes had a whirlwind romance, and months after dating, the two were engaged. The couple was delighted to announce that they were expecting their first child, and Tom Cruise even dropped $200,000 on a gift in anticipation of their daughter Suri Cruise's birth .

Nearly six years later, Cruise and Holmes stunned the world by announcing their divorce. Holmes reportedly left Cruise to protect her daughter from being raised in Scientology.

Leah Remini attended the couple's wedding, and while there, she noticed certain things which seemed strange, even upsetting. At one point, Remini stepped in when she noticed Suri Cruise was in distress and being ignored.

Leah Remini Had To Step In At Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes' Wedding After Nobody Addressed Suri's Moment Of Distress

When Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes wed, fans everywhere were thrilled. Nicknamed TomKat, they seemed happy when photographed together, either out for a stroll or at a star-studded event. Less than a year before they tied the knot, the Dawson's Creek star gave birth to their daughter, Suri Cruise.

At the couple's fairy-tale wedding, Leah Remini was one of several celebrities who attended. Remini wrote in her book, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology , that Cruise and Holmes' daughter, Suri, didn't seem to be getting the necessary attention from the people she needed the most - her parents.

Remini explained she'd attended a pre-wedding party, and that during dinner, she could hear a child crying, but nobody seemed worried about it. After a few minutes, Remini got up to follow the sound until she found Suri Cruise, who was seven months old, in distress. Suri was also being ignored .

Remini stated Cruise and Holmes' daughter, Suri, was upset. She was screaming and distressed, but instead of being comforted, the child was lying on the floor of the bathroom, and left alone. Remini added that instead of Holmes leaving the party to come and comfort her daughter, there were instead three handlers who were trying to hold Suri down.

She wrote that when the handlers finally gave attention to Suri, it didn't seem to help, and they didn't treat her in a way appropriate for Suri's age. "Rather than talking to her in a soothing voice, they kept saying, 'Suri! Suri! In a tone that sounded like they were telling an adult to get her s*** together," Per Radar Online .

Remini said the three handlers, one who was Cruise's sister, were simply standing and staring at Cruise and Holmes' daughter as though she was "[Scientology founder] L. Ron Hubbard incarnate." Remini said she encouraged the handlers to pick Suri up, hold her, and giver her a bottle of warm milk to calm and comfort Suri.

After Remini intervened to soothe Cruise and Holmes' daughter, Holmes filed a report against Remini with the Church of Scientology, complaining of her behavior during the wedding.

Leah Remini Found Other Incidents Upsetting At Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes' Wedding

Leah Remini has been speaking out against the Church of Scientology for years, and has discussed her experiences with Scientology in a variety of ways, including a documentary, Going Clear , and her book, Troublemaker. The actor also talks about her experiences in interviews and other ways.

Remini noticed certain things during Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' wedding which seemed strange and/or upsetting. When Remini heard a child crying, she followed the noise and came upon Suri Cruise, "crying on the floor," who'd been ignored until Remini intervened to help comfort the distressed child .

After the 2006 wedding, Holmes reported Remini to the Church of Scientology, claiming she had been disruptive at her and Cruise's wedding. Holmes reportedly wrote, "I was dismayed at the behavior of Leah Remini during the events leading up to our wedding. At the wedding, the behavior as a guest, a friend... [She] made everything all about her. It was very upsetting," according to the Daily Mail .

Remini also found Cruise's request to invite her friend Jennifer Lopez and the singer's then-husband Marc Anthony to the wedding odd. Holmes had admitted to Remini, "We don't know them very well." The star was confused why the couple wanted people who might as well be strangers at their wedding.

She soon figured out the reason. Remini was told to recruit Lopez for the Church of Scientology - but J. Lo saw right through it . Remini said, "they wanted to make Jennifer a Scientologist."

After the wedding, Remini revealed Holmes had reported her to Scientology officials. The star called Holmes' behavior "childish" and said the report "looked like it was written by a seventh grader." Remini was also sent to a Scientology facility in Florida for "reprogramming."

"Basically they were just trying to get me to recant what I said, to apologize for ruining the wedding of the century."

Katie Holmes And Leah Remini Have Both Left Scientology

Leah Remini and Katie Holmes have both left Scientology. Holmes and Tom Cruise agreed to finalize their divorce settlement within days , both apparently wanting to avoid a lengthy court battle. Holmes initiated the divorce from Cruise , reportedly to protect Suri from Scientology.

Holmes might have worried that if Suri grew up in Scientology, she wouldn't have had a strong (or any) relationship with her daughter. Currently, Cruise does not have a relationship with Suri.

Remini couldn't believe the response she got when she asked Isabella and Connor about their relationship to their mother, Nicole Kidman . Isabella and Connor are Nicole Kidman's children with Tom Cruise. Both stayed with Cruise after he and Kidman divorced, and grew up in Scientology.

Remini, tearing up during an interview with Good Morning America, said, "Seeing her (Holmes) being able to be with her daughter, and live her life...I'm touched by it," according to Inside Edition .

Leah Remini Recalls Bizarre Experiences with Tom Cruise and the Church of Scientology

What did Katie Holmes have to say?

swprofile.jpg

Once a loyal member of the Church of Scientology, Leah Remini is opening up about her split from the church and one of the best-known Scientologists: Tom Cruise . Remini spoke with 20/20 's Dan Harris about her new tell-all book, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, and experiences she had with Cruise.

"At first it's very effusive, it's very loving. You get the, like, laser in on you and you're the most important thing that ever happened," she said of how she first crossed paths with Cruise, who was friendly and supportive.

Remini recalls how she began to realize Cruise's stature within he church after Scientology officials asked her and her husband to teach the actor salsa dancing. When she arrived, officers were there to monitor the lesson, as well as his then girlfriend Katie Holmes . After commenting on Cruise's overly enthusiastic affection for Holmes, Remini was written up for being critical of Cruise and the church.

In response to Remini's book and interview, Holmes provided a statement to People , saying, "I regret having upset Leah in the past, and wish her only the best in the future." It is not yet clear what Remini alleges about Holmes, who was married to Cruise for nearly six years before divorcing him in 2012.

In an effort to protect its reputation, the church issued its own statement to ABC, declaring that Remini's story is fabricated and that she is only after attention for herself and claimed that she was expelled from the church for her "ethical lapses."

Check out a clip from the interview:

Leah Remini's full interview airs tonight at 10/9c on ABC. Her memoir, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology , will be released onNov. 3.

Breaking news, leah remini slams tom cruise, claims he has master plan for daughter suri.

Leah Remini thinks that Tom Cruise is waiting until Suri Cruise, his 14-year-old daughter with ex-wife Katie Holmes , is older so he can indoctrinate her into Scientology.

“Scientology considers Katie a suppressive person which is an enemy and therefore Tom believes, like all Scientologists, that he can’t be connected to Suri,” Remini, 50, told The Post. “I’m sure his master plan is to wait until Suri gets older so that he can lure her into Scientology and away from her mother.”

The “King of Queens” star also admitted being surprised when Holmes abruptly left Cruise in 2012.

“I knew Katie when she was in [Scientology] and she seemed very indoctrinated into Tom’s world,” she said, “but as time went on, and I understood why she did what she did to protect her daughter … I’m only assuming that there’s some type of agreement to protect her daughter.”

Reps for Cruise did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.

Still, Remini added that she is “really proud” of Holmes “for getting her daughter out of something that would have been potentially very toxic and dangerous for not only Suri but for their relationship.”

Remini was raised as a Scientologist from 9 after her mother joined the organization. She left in 2013 after questioning the managing style of the church’s leader, David Miscavige.

Two years later, she published a memoir, “ Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology .” The actress also had a documentary series on A&E — “ Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath ” — which delved into former Scientologists’ experiences since leaving the group.

Upon learning the show’s 2019 series finale would focus on allegations that church policy prohibits members from reporting accusations of sexual and physical violence to authorities, a rep for the Church of Scientology told The Post at the time:

“Leah Remini has blood on her hands. Her show’s lies, distortions and exhortations to hate and bigotry generated assassination threats against the leader of the Scientology religion, physical attacks on churches, and the murder of a Scientology religious worker whose throat was slashed by a madman egged on by Remini’s horrendous distortions. Perpetrators who were jailed for their crimes named Remini as their inspiration.”

Tom Cruise and Suri Cruise leave Manhattan by helicopter at the West Side Heliport on July 18, 2012 in New York City.

In July, however, Remini and another former Scientologist, Mike Rinder, launched a podcast, “ Scientology: Fair Game ,”  as a way to continue the conversation in real time versus a television series.

The “Second Act” actress also alleges that Cruise is “not a good person” and “continues to sit by and watch people’s lives get destroyed, including the disappearance of his best friend’s wife , Shelly Miscavige, who has not been seen in public in 15 years.”

Even though Remini has her house checked for bugs and takes precautions, she refuses to bow to pressure.

“At the end of the day, I can’t live my life in fear of doing the right thing because I’m fearful that something is going to happen to me. I mean, I have a daughter, that’s where really my concern is. I don’t want my daughter to ever get caught up in this.”
