The Top 10 Best Baby-friendly Travel Destinations in the US

As you guys know, Kenny and I are had our first baby last year ! When I was pregnant, I kept busy researching the best destinations to travel with a baby . We love to travel, and while we were awaiting Harrison’s big debut into the world, we were anxious to see the world with our little one! And, to be honest, we didn’t know what to expect. We didn’t want to jump right in and start traveling abroad, so we figured it would be great to start with some easy US destinations close to home! But where are the best places to travel with an infant in the USA? And what places are the easiest for traveling with a baby? After gathering a ton of recommendations I’ve gotten from friends, fellow moms, and tons of research, as well as my own experience over the past year and a half traveling all over the world with our baby boy!

Here are my top Jetset-approved travel destinations in the USA for traveling with a baby (along with a few hotel and resort recommendations for each!).

Y’all know how much Kenny and I LOVE Hawaii ! Not only did we get married here , but we also spent our final babymoon here (and we can’t wait to make more memories with our little beach babe here in the years to come!). Hawaii is great for a trip with your baby because the islands are easy to navigate, they are safe and very clean, and Hawaii prides itself on being a family-friendly vacay destination! Many of the resorts have family-friendly rooms complete with cribs, bottle sterilizers, and so much more.

Where to Stay With a Baby in Hawaii

I would specifically recommend going to either the Big Island or Maui if you are traveling with an infant. On the Big Island, my top recommendation is Four Seasons Hualalai  (Kenny and I have stayed here in the past and it is  dreamy !!). Here, you can request anything and everything to make your stay more comfortable, from a crib, playpen, diapers, wipes, a white noise machine, a bottle warmer, “little swimmers” diapers for the beach/pool, a nursing pillow, and a high chair! This is an incredible convenience because it means less packing/stressing for you when traveling with a baby!

In Maui, I would recommend Four Seasons Maui , Westin Maui , or Sheraton Maui . Similar to the Hualalai property, Four Seasons Maui offers tons of amenities for families ( check out a full list here !).

Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina

The Montage Palmetto Bluff blew me away in terms of being an ideal destination with my family. If you’re looking for a quintessential experience of the American South, a five-star resort surrounded by scenic lowcountry and so much wildlife, there’s no better place. There’s something about this classic Southern escape that instantly relaxes you. The charming hospitality and next-level service. The history, the emphasis on lowcountry culture, and the stunning South Carolina nature. Or the fact that they’ve thought of everything when it comes to creating the perfect lowcountry experience for their guests (and families of all ages!!!) . There’s s’mores in the courtyard every night, and kids everywhere having the time of their life. They even have a partnership with Uppababy which allows you to rent Uppababy equipment on property so you don’t have to pack a thing! Huge win for traveling with a baby!

30A, Seaside, Florida

It’s no secret that 30A, located on Florida’s Gulf Coast, is home to some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. It’s also the  ideal family vacation. From action-packed beach days to movie nights under the stars, a Seaside getaway is just what the doctor ordered. The beaches are stunning, and will be the perfect backdrop to your vacation with baby!

Where to stay around Seaside, Florida

Look into Alys Beach or Watercolor.

With a convenient beach entrance only a few steps away, this 2 bedroom is a great choice in Alys Beach.

Or try this adorable home in a gated community with an un-crowded beach .

I highly recommend renting a VRBO in Seaside! There are  hundreds of cute beach houses that will make your stay super comfortable, especially if you are traveling with other friends or family. This beach house has free bikes and a private pool with enough room for 9 guests, while this condo is reasonably priced (only $471/night!) and is right on the water. If you are traveling with the whole fam for a reunion or family vacation, check out this incredible home where the beach is your backyard!

If VRBOs aren’t your style, grab a room at The WaterColor Inn & Resort (rated #1 on Trip Advisor as the most kid-friendly hotel in 30A!). Hey, maybe you could wear your Watercolors Swim and matching Kenny Flowers / Kiddy Flowers at the WaterColor Inn?! 😉

Charleston, South Carolina

In Charleston, you’ll see babies and kids everywhere!!!  From roaming around the breweries, to living their best life at the beach, Charleston is extremely baby-and-kid-friendly.

There are so many things to do in Charleston, South Carolina with kids. The downtown streets are easy to navigate with a stroller and there are plenty of parks and open spaces. Make sure you walk Rainbow Row to see all the charming houses. From there, make a stop at the Battery… then head out to the aquarium (one of the best!) or one of Charleston’s best beaches .

Where to Stay With a Baby in Charleston

In my opinion, the best places to stay in Charleston with your baby are Wild Dunes Resort or Hotel Bennett . You can book Wild Dunes Resort and stay at the hotel or at one of their VRBO’s as it is a vacation rental located in Isle of Palms (known for its beaches, eateries, and sea turtles!!). If you are looking for a downtown hotel that is very walkable, go for Hotel Bennett. You won’t be disappointed!

San Diego, California

San Diego is known for its beautiful beaches and near-perfect weather all year, making it a fabulous beach destination for families.

As an added bonus, San Diego is home to Lego Land , which is a must-see for the kids! I would also recommend that you go to the award-winning San Diego Zoo (one of the best zoos in the world, and my personal favorite!), Sea World , or venture around Balboa Park with your little one in tow.

Where to Stay With a Baby in San Diego

If you are looking for a luxury hotel, look no further than Hotel Del Coronado . This historic hotel is set on one of the best beaches in California, and one of my favorites.

San Diego Mission Bay Resort also offers great amenities for both parents and infants. 

Looking for a VRBO in San Diego? There are hundreds of great options! Personally, I lean toward a neighborhood called La Jolla (this is where my grandparents live and where I have spent the most time!). If you’re looking for a VRBO there, I would recommend this sophisticated beach-front sanctuary or this luxury condo in the heart of the village. For those of you who are looking for a house instead of a condo, this three-bedroom home in La Jolla sleeps six!

On a budget? Snag this two-bedroom right on the water (only $183/night!!).

Orlando, Florida

For many, it’s the happiest place on earth. It’s the place where dreams come true and kids are able to live out their princess and superhero dreams in real life. It’s Disney World!! Orlando is a no-brainer when it comes to bringing the kids. Disney World will probably be one of their core memories from their childhood. And if you are looking for a solid mix between a beach vacation and Disney, consider a Disney Cruise!

There are several places to stay right at Disney World from Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge to the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel (near EPCOT). But I have to say, I think my top pick would be the Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort ! Here, you get the best of both worlds – you get the luxury of the Four Seasons while staying right on the Walt Disney World property!

Sonoma, California

Sonoma isn’t just for bachelorette parties and girls’ trips! The towns surrounding Sonoma are extremely inviting, super relaxing, and many of the restaurants, although luxurious, are family-friendly. Plus, let’s face it, chances are you have been waiting a year (or more) to drink wine again. Why not enjoy California’s best wineries with your baby in tow?!

Fairmont is a brand that features family-friendly hotels and resorts all over the world. The Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa is no exception. Here, you will enjoy spacious rooms and all of the family-friendly activities your heart desires!

My top recommendation if you are looking for a bed and breakfast in Sonoma is Beltane Ranch . Beltane Ranch offers stand-alone cottages that will allow you the space and privacy you are craving. Each cottage is complete with a kitchenette, so you can cook your meals easily without having to head into town!

San Antonio, Texas

San Antonio is a wonderful place to bring your kiddo! The city has a zoo, a children’s train, and even a hands-on sensory exhibit called The DoSeum that was made just for kids. Plus, the riverwalk is an easy-to-navigate area that is perfect for a walk with baby in your UppaBaby stroller !

Where to Stay With a Baby in San Antonio

The top two places that I would recommend staying with a baby in San Antonio are Hotel Emma and JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa . Hotel Emma is a five-star luxury hotel complete with cribs and baby products for infants, plus a swanky hotel bar for mom and dad! The JW Marriott in San Antonio has over 1,000 rooms with different layouts, so you can choose whatever works best for you. They have a pool just for young kids, and they also offer shaded cabanas with fridges to help keep bottles cool!

Chicago, Illinois

Perhaps you are craving the busyness of New York City or Washington D.C., but you can’t quite wrap your head around what it would be like to shlep the stroller down the subway stairs – Chicago is for you! Chicago is a cleaner city than both NYC and D.C., and it is also a bit safer overall. The city is fairly compact and easy to navigate, plus, you won’t find the sky-high prices that you would experience in Manhattan. Plus, many of the streets and sidewalks in Chicago are designed with strollers in mind, making it easy to navigate the city. And a lot of the museums provide special stroller tours. 

Where to Stay With a Baby in Chicago

Warwick Allerton – Chicago was rated the #1 hotel for families in Chicago by hotels.com. This property offers  free cribs and playpens for infants, babysitting services (for a surcharge), and daily housekeeping to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. 21c Hotel Museum Chicago also offers free cribs/beds for babies, and for mom and dad, they have a luxurious spa onsite. 

Aspen, Colorado

If a snow weekend with your little snow bunny is what you’re feeling this winter, look no further than Aspen .

Where to stay in Aspen with a baby

This Auberge hotel is such a gem! It’s been the heart of Aspen since 1889 and has a luxury-meets-wild-west vibe. It’s perfectly located and ultra-cozy for your little snow baby. Think: super comfy, spacious rooms with to-die-for bathtubs. I loved the history, charm, and friendliness of this place. It’s easily the best hotel in Aspen, but it doesn’t act snooty at all.

15 Best Places To Travel With a Baby in the US

Traveling with an infant can be challenging, but it’s well worth it. Even if they don’t remember the trips years from now, you will. You’ll remember the smiling, the bonding, and every special moment you shared. My husband and I have continued traveling since we’ve had kids, so both Willow and Caden have been avid travelers since they were infants. 

Though I don’t think you should shy away from international travel with infants , I know there are a lot of factors to consider when taking a vacation. Often, something U.S.-based makes more sense. To help you choose the perfect destination, I’ve compiled a list of the best places to travel in the United States with a baby. 

Here’s my list:

15 Best Places To Travel With an Infant in the US 

San diego, california .

San Diego is a great choice for U.S. travel with a baby. The city offers so much for families with babies and the mild weather is perfect for a sensitive newborn. Some of our favorite baby-friendly things to do in San Diego include walking stroller-friendly trails at Cabrillo National Monument , getting sun at the La Jolla Cove , exploring the San Diego Botanic Garden , and shopping at the Westfield UTC Shopping Center . (The mall has private nursing areas, family restrooms, and a family lounge.) 

Of course, you can’t go to San Diego without visiting the San Diego Zoo ! However, it’s also a lot of fun to visit the San Diego Zoo Safari Park with a baby if you’re not up for all the walking.   

San Francisco, California

San Francisco is our hometown, so it’s not a place we “visit.” However, we’ve brought up 2 babies here, and we think it’s a great destination for a baby. Storytime at local libraries, baby yoga at Jane Austin Yoga , the Ferry Building Farmer's Market, stroller walks along Crissy Beach, and outdoor fun at one of San Francisco's many public parks are just some of our favorite things to do. 

Consider also doing a night away in Napa while you're at it, it's surprisingly baby friendly. I even have a full list of things to do as a family .

We also think San Francisco is perfect for families with infants because it’s a relatively small city with only a 7-square-mile radius. That means you can get to everything pretty quickly no matter where you’re staying in the city! (We recommend the Hyatt Regency or the Hotel Fairmont Heritage Place because they have big rooms, great locations, and babysitting services.) 

Savannah, Georgia 

Savannah, the right time of year, is great for babies. (I’d avoid the peaks of summer when it’s very hot and humid.) Take the stroller along the river, enjoy a trolley tour, explore street art in the Starland District , take a riverboat cruise , or spend time at Tybee Island beach with your infant. These things are all stimulating for baby while being enjoyable for mom and dad too. 

For accommodations, we usually recommend staying in more homey places when traveling with an infant. The extra amenities of a rental house like full kitchens and separate bedrooms are really helpful when caring for a baby on vacation. Luckily, Savannah has lots of baby-friendly Airbnbs. If you go the hotel route, consider finding one with similar benefits. 

Orlando, Florida

Of course, Disney World is in Orlando, and I’ll say it is a fun place to visit, even with a baby. However, I know many people wouldn’t want to deal with the hassle if they don’t have a toddler or older child to fully appreciate the experience. Orlando has plenty of other infant-friendly things to do! 

We love Lake Eola Park’s walking paths, swans, and fountain light shows, and we’re always sure to stop by the Orlando Aquarium and the Leu Gardens . Plus, if you want an easy vacation, Orlando is full of all-inclusive family-friendly resorts. 

Aspen, Colorado

If you’re looking for a middle-America option, Aspen is a great spot for infants. First of all, Aspen is pretty small and designed with visitors in mind. That means you can stroller walk almost anywhere, which makes navigating to restaurants, shopping areas, and excursions much less of a hassle. 

Though baby won’t be skiing with you, there are plenty of ways for an infant to enjoy the scenery. You can go on scenic enclosed ski lift rides , take a horse-drawn sleigh , or go snowshoeing with your infant in their baby carrier. Before you go, just consider the challenges of dressing your baby for the weather and keeping them hydrated with the altitude changes. 

Omaha, Nebraska 

This may not have been on your list, but if you live in the midwest and are looking for a road trip , Omaha offers more than you think in terms of a little family getaway. Since Omaha is right in the middle of the country, it’s roadtrip-able from almost anywhere, which is a pro if you’re worried about flying with an infant. (Though you shouldn’t be, here’s my post on flying with a baby.) 

Omaha’s premier attraction is The Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium , which often goes toe-to-toe with the San Diego Zoo as “the best zoo in the world.” The zoo is massive and it’s not really even feasible to visit all in one day, but it’s extremely stroller-friendly and the wide paths and large facility mean that even on busy zoo days, it’s not that crowded. Also, if you’re worried about volatile Midwest weather, you’ll be happy to hear that many of the exhibits are indoors, including the rainforest, “Desert Dome,” swamplands, butterfly enclosure, and aquarium. 

Other things to do in Omaha with an infant include walking Lauritzen Gardens , Joslyn Castle , Zorinsky Lake , and RiverFront Park .      

Best Beaches to Travel to With an Infant in the US

In my humble opinion, as a San Francisco resident, Stinson Beach is one of the prettiest beaches in California. The wide beach and soft, white sand are perfect for lounging and playing with an infant. It’s also a great sport for a picnic or walk, with plenty of stroller-friendly trails nearby. The beach also has good parking, a snack bar, and restrooms, which are all helpful when you have a baby in tow!

Kiawah Island, South Carolina 

Kiawah Island is known mostly for the golf resort, but it’s actually a great spot for family beach-goers too. Aside from regular beach activities, Kiawah Island has great biking opportunities, walkable shopping districts, family pools, and, as I mentioned, golf. You may even spot some sea turtles! 

Waikīkī Beach, Honolulu, Hawaii

We’ve gone to Oahu , with our baby and toddler, and it was the best experience! We stayed in North Shore and loved it, but if you are looking for a beach that is more centrally located to many different types of attractions, Waikīkī Beach is a great spot. Aside from beautiful views, a wide beach, and great swimming, Waikīkī Beach has public restrooms, beach showers, and plenty of food stands to make the day trip easier! 

Best Outdoor Destinations to Travel to With an Infant in the US

Acadia national park, maine .

If you like to camp or do lots of hiking, Acadia National Park is a perfect destination. It’s one of the smaller national parks and there are lots of towns around it, so it’s easy to explore and there are plenty of amenities nearby. For good hiking, try Ocean Path, Thunder Hole, or Jordan Pond Loop. Whether you camp or get an Airbnb, I think visiting Acadia National Parks with a baby is a great way to bond with your little one! 

Lake Tahoe, California

We have a vacation home in Lake Tahoe , and that’s because it’s one of the best family destinations in the U.S.! Plus, it’s an easy road trip for us in San Francisco. (Here are my tips for road trips with a baby .) You’ll love that it offers plenty to do without the hustle and bustle of a busy city… and the weather is always right for a family vacation with plenty of summer and winter recreation options. 

Some of our favorite things to do include walking the East Shore Trail , hiking Glacier Point Trail , hiking in D.L. Bliss State Park , swimming at the pools, and playing in the sand at Sand Harbor . There is so much to do! 

Great Smoky Mountains National Park, North Carolina 

Here’s another east coast option for those of you closer to the Carolinas. Great Smoky Mountains National Park is kid-friendly and has lots of scenic drives, stroller-friendly hikes, wildlife viewing opportunities, biking trails, and fishing spots. All of these activities can be infant-friendly with a stroller or baby carrier . 

Sedona, Arizona

Sedona is a beautiful area to explore outdoors with your baby. Really, it offers many of the other outdoor exploration opportunities as other places I’ve mentioned in this section—there are even swimming spots here in the desert! Beyond the swimming holes, there are numerous hiking spots, beautiful drives, parks, and a cultural downtown area that are all enjoyable with an infant.   

Best Resorts to Travel to With an Infant in the US

Aulani, a disney resort, oahu, hawaii .

You’re probably familiar with the big U.S. Disney theme parks in California and Florida, but Hawaii has a Disney resort too. Aulani is a favorite for family travelers who want a Disney experience that’s a little more relaxed. You get a nearly all-inclusive vacation package to stay in Aulani and experience all the magic, meaning you don’t have to drive and walk all around the island to find things to do. 

Right there on the resort, you have accommodations, dining, and activities. Some things you can do with an infant include beaches, pools, character experiences, walking tours, shopping, luaus, splash pads, gardens, wildlife encounters, canoeing, and family yoga.

Aulani also has plenty of room size options, so if you want 2 bedrooms to separate you and your infant, they can accommodate that. You can even rent a villa for a more homey option. All rooms come with complimentary pack ‘n plays as well, which is a plus if you want one less thing to pack.   

Loews Chicago Hotel in Chicago, Illinois

Chicago is another perfect destination for city life exploration with an infant. No matter where you are in the city, there is plenty to do. However, what will really elevate the experience with your new baby is staying at the Loews Chicago Hotel , which is one of the most baby-friendly hotels in the country. 

All rooms have options for a mini-fridge, bottle sanitizing supplies, full-sized cribs, baby tubs, and nightlights. You’ll also receive complimentary baby lotion, wipes, shampoo, body wash, and conditioner from Hello Bello. If all that wasn’t enough, they also partner with Little Spoon, so you can order fresh, organic baby food via room service with your own meals. All these added amenities make it a great resort for parents with babies! 

Location is everything when traveling with an infant. 

If you’re ready to take that first trip with your baby, don’t let anyone talk you out of it. I’ve loved every second of traveling with both of my kids when they were babies ( here is a round up of my favorite vacations with them ), and I’m glad I didn’t let other people or my first-time mom fears talk me out of our experiences. 10 Best Places to Travel in the US with a Baby or Toddler

Having spent plenty of time moving and traveling around the US with my family right from when my two boys were babies, I know how stressful planning a vacation with your little ones can be, especially if you don’t know where to go. 

So to help make that decision a little bit easier, I created this post to shortlist some of the best places to travel with a baby or toddler in the US. I’ve covered many different destinations all over the country so you can easily find something to suit the interests and needs of the whole family. 

Obviously, when you plan on traveling with kids in the US you might need to either bring your car seat or rent it , because apart from NYC you will have to drive around.

1. Utah – Anywhere

Utah is honestly designed for families with many kids , as Utahns have many kids, and it’s one of the most welcoming places in the US.

Not only are there plenty of kid-friendly things to do in Salt Lake City , but Utah’s dramatic landscape and many accessible national parks make it a great place to travel with a baby or toddler. 

You can easily go skiing in the winter or visit ice castles , basing yourself in Salt Lake City or Park City.

The best way to explore the state is by embarking on an epic road trip with your family stopping at Bryce Canyon, Zion, Canyonlands, and Arches National Park, all of which have easy paved walking trails suitable for strollers . 

Make sure not to miss the Dinosaur National Monument on your way which is sure to be a highlight for your little ones!  

2. Sedona, AZ

If you’re looking for a family-friendly destination in the US that has a little bit of everything including history, culture, and outdoors , Sedona, Arizona might be exactly what you’re looking for. 

There are plenty of unique day trips from Sedona that will allow you to experience something new every day but some of my picks for anyone with a toddler or baby would be the Verde Canyon Railroad , Red Rock Jeep Adventure , Slide Rock State Park and you certainly can’t miss the best family favorite; Out of Africa Wildlife Zoo .

Back in town, your kids will love the Wild West feel so make sure to eat a meal at Cowboy Club and take a trip to Blazin’ M Ranch for the full experience.

3. San Diego, CA

The world-famous San Diego Zoo , Zoo Safari Park , and Birch Aquarium are reasons alone to visit San Diego with your family, but the city has so much more to offer you and your youngsters. 

Sesame Place is another big hit with toddlers and this Sesame Street-themed water park is the perfect place to cool off on a hot summer day.

Aside from spending many hours playing with sand and bathing in the ocean, the area boasts several great family-friendly attractions such as the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island , H2OBX Water Park , Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge , and the fun playgrounds in  Elizabethan Gardens.

You can even take a dolphin tour or find beautiful wild horses at Carova Beach if you have a 4×4 and are up for a family adventure!

6. Charleston, SC

Full of history and culture with great weather and an easy-to-navigate center , Charleston is another great place to vacation with your baby or toddler if you are looking for somewhere a little more laid back while still having plenty to do. 

The Charleston Museum should be at the top of your list. Aside from the megalodon jawbone on display in the Natural History Gallery, the Kidstory exhibit is always a hit as youngsters can get hands-on with an art project while learning about the city’s history. The Museum also provides great family programs specifically for toddlers!

If you’re looking for more toddler and baby-friendly attractions, make sure to check out the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry , the North Charleston Fire Museum , and the Dock Street Theatre. 

7. White Mountains, New Hampshire 

With its quaint towns, picturesque viewpoints, and plenty of things to do , the White Mountains is the perfect getaway for anyone who likes a good amount of time in nature mixed with plenty of relaxation in a cozy holiday home. 

The great thing about the White Mountains is that there are multiple scenic drives like the Kancamagus Highway which boasts countless viewpoints that allow you to simply step out of the car and admire your surroundings with minimal effort.

8. Legoland

I think that Legoland is the best theme park for kids in Florida (yes, it’s more fun than Disney due to zero lines or having to constantly check the app to book your spot in lines) . There are actually 3 locations in the US ( California , Florida, and New York) so you can visit whichever one is most convenient for you. 

Legoland is much quieter than Disney making for a more relaxed trip for the whole family. With short wait times and a smaller space, little ones are less likely to be overwhelmed, and as parents, you won’t have to stress about making it to reservations on time, it’s a win-win in my book! 

Plus, I’ve found that most kids will love Legoland, even if they haven’t started playing with Legos themselves yet . 

9. Glacier National Park, MT

For any outdoorsy families looking for an easy getaway with a huge payoff , the beautiful Glacier National Park is one of the best things to do in Montana with little ones. 

There are plenty of easy hikes in Glacier National Park with extremely rewarding views and some walks that you can even do with your stroller . Plus, the Going-to-the-Sun Road which crosses directly through the middle of the park offers stunning viewpoints right on the side of the road . Expect to see super clear blue lakes, snow-capped mountains, waterfalls, and more. 

Before you begin your trip, make sure to pick up a Junior Ranger Packet and National Park Passport Book at the visitor center. During your visit, you can collect stamps and fill out questions about what you see. The Junior Ranger Packet can be returned at the end and your kids will become official “Junior Rangers” earning a wooden badge for their efforts. 

10. Oahu, Hawaii

Last but not least, Oahu is the most family-friendly island in Hawaii , boasting a huge range of activities both in the city and out in nature. 

Topping the list of things to do with kids is probably the Kualoa Ranch . This popular movie set is complete with lifesize dinosaur bones and countless adventure tours for all ages. Travel to a secret island, explore the jungle , or join a boat tour to see all the different sites of this magical place. 

Back in town, eat the best Shave Ice , try the flight simulators at Pearl Harbor , see the Sea Life Park and Honolulu Zoo , attend an authentic Hawaiian Luau , or visit the Polynesian Cultural Center to give your kids a little culture.

Perfect places to travel with your baby

Taking your baby away for the first time is a big milestone and choosing the right destination is key to making the trip a success. Unless you are super adventurous you will probably want somewhere that is neither too hot nor too cold, has a pretty good healthcare infrastructure and a good range of relaxed activities with relatively little travel involved. To help, we’ve pulled together eight destinations for your infant’s bucket list. For general tips, have a look at our article on travelling with your baby .

Mallorca, Spain

Partying in Magaluf probably won’t be on your agenda with a small baby but the north of the island has pretty market towns with promenades to push the stroller along, beautiful beaches for your bundle of joy to discover a love of sand and restaurants which really welcome babies. There’s also a fantastic foodie culture so you can take advantage of nap time and enjoy feeling like a grown adult again.

Ko Samui, Thailand

A perennial favourite whatever stage in life you are at, Ko Samui ’s popularity may be a detractor for some but it does means that you can find pretty much everything you need for travelling with a baby: nappies, formula, restaurants with high chairs, a range of family-friendly accommodation options and so on. Spending time at the beach is an obvious choice with an infant but when you need a break the temples and gardens can be surprisingly good for little kids (offering shade and new things to look at). But the best reason to take your baby to Ko Samui is the warm Thai welcome you will get wherever you go.

Norfolk, England

The east of England is known for being flat, making it a very suitable place if you have a stroller and like to walk while your baby sleeps. Being a bit further away from London but still a relatively quick drive, Norfolk offers good value in terms of accommodation and dining costs, and it has a relaxed easy-going vibe and plenty to keep parents of the very young happy. Think sandy beaches, sweet coastal towns, National Trust properties , and if your little one has become a walking one then a trip to the magical Bewilderwood is a must.

Tuscany, Italy

Like the Thais, Italians LOVE babies and believe us it’s so nice to be on holiday somewhere with a culture that embraces and adores your precious bundle. Toddling infants are welcomed at historical sites, and where better for that first lick of gelato or nibble of pizza. But why Tuscany particularly? With a babe in arms you can easily explore the museums and galleries of Florence and Pisa , the hilltop towns are perfect places to people watch with a coffee and a small person, and yes there are beaches if you want them. Stay on a working farm and enjoy watching your baby interact with animals too.

Quintana Roo, Mexico

Easily accessible with plenty of baby-friendly flight times and also pretty affordable due to the large number of options available, Quintana Roo is home to both  Cancún and Mexico’s Caribbean coast and welcomes families with open arms. There are baby-friendly beaches, plenty of family accommodation options (including all inclusive resorts with babysitting and all chores taken care of if you want to properly switch off) and opportunities for fun away from making sandcastles, exploring ruins or watching wildlife.

Sunshine Coast, Australia

With all the delights of Queensland packed into one easily-navigated area, the Sunshine Coast is a lovely place to take your baby. It’s warm without being too hot, there are loads of things to do whether you want to wander round markets, take the pram along a beachside path or hang out in the pool, and it has a reputation for some of the best family-friendly places to stay in Oz. For a treat, Noosa Heads is an upmarket town with a relaxed vibe, and easy access to the rainforest for walks with a baby in a carrier if you’ve had enough of the sand and sea.

Boston, USA

A city break might seem like an odd idea for new parents but while a baby still sleeps a lot there’s chance to visit that gallery or museum you’ve always wanted to, linger over a coffee as you people watch and even have dinner at adult’s dinner time and not 5pm. Boston is a great choice because it also offers plenty for the very little person, with lots of playgrounds to explore and fountains to frolic in as well as museums that specifically cater to the very small. Check out the Children’s Museum , the Museum of Science and the New England Aquarium for starters. And then plan to bring your son or daughter back when they are school age too!

New Zealand (by camper van)

If New Zealand has always been on your travel wishlist, then maternity or paternity leave can be a great opportunity to do a longer trip and visit a part of the world you’ve always wanted to. While you have to be careful with the amount of time your baby spends in the car seat, hiring a camper van allows you to keep exploring without having to unpack all the baby paraphernalia all the time. The freedom of the open road combined with the buzz of exploring somewhere in your new family unit is the stuff family memories are made of. Greece can be a great place to travel for Family and especially for your baby. Moving around the city is very easy as taxis are a pretty helpful way to travel along with the city. You can also rent cars as per your comfort to enjoy long road trips. The period to visit Greece will be July-August.

Some of the places to be in Greece will have to be Cape Sounion, Thessaloniki, Halkidiki, Delphi, Athens & Greek Islands.

April to June and September to early November are the most affordable times to visit France.

Since the weather in France varies so dramatically on when you visit and where in France you plan to visit, I recommend going based on price.

Paris is a classic and iconic travel spot in France, and that includes baby . Monuments like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum are considered child-friendly and worth your time. The Louvre Museum even offers baby carriers and strollers to rent for free. Just outside Paris, the Versailles Palace and its beautiful huge gardens are great for babies too.

Other places like the Loire Valley castles or the French Riviera are also totally baby-friendly. On the other hand, visiting the infamous Mont Saint Michel (steep and narrow alleys) or Dune du Pilat (lots of sand!) with a stroller might not be recommendable.

If you are looking for a park, Parc de la Ciutadella is the biggest urban park and a popular place to walk, read or relax. You’ll find wide pathways, a playground area, a lake, a big fountain, and the entrance to the zoo.

Spring or Fall are the best times to do a Mediterranean Cruise because it’s more affordable and less crowded.

When packing, know there will be a lot of walking, and the country is hot, so babywearing might get your little one more overheated because of the shared body heat. I recommend a small umbrella stroller if the baby can sit upright in one; otherwise, a baby stroller is fine as well.

The cool/dry season is between November and April, which would be the best time of year to visit.

Some things to do while in Thailand include touring the Grand Palace and the Temple of Buddha.

Other unique experiences include taking a ride on an elephant.

With a baby, you can easily hit the beach. There are so many islands with beautiful beaches in Thailand that it’s hard to only name a few, but Ko Samui, Ko Chang, Krabi or Phuket are places you want to look at when traveling with a baby. I would avoid Ko Phi Phi, which is overcrowded and overrated, according to me.

Columbia is a beautiful country, and Santa Marta is especially family-friendly. Santa Marta is an island with lots of great resorts that can accommodate you and your little one.

Car seats are not really used in Colombia, so pack at your own discretion.

The climate in Colombia has little variation, so really any time of year will get you some great weather. June, July, and December are high travel seasons, though, so avoid those months if you’re looking to keep costs low.

The best time to travel to Mauritius is from May to December because the weather is dry and sunny.

Beaches like Belle mare, Flic en Flac, or Morne Brabant are perfect for babies. Plus, there are no waves there because the beaches are protected by a coral barrier.

Carry your baby using a wrap

Strollers are heavy, hard to bring on a plane, and just plain cumbersome. If you can, try to avoid bringing a stroller by carrying your baby with you.

Using a baby wrap will keep your infant close to you, where they feel most safe, but will also keep your arms free to carry luggage, open doors, eat, and snap photos to cement those memories forever!

Buy disposable baby gear at your destination

Don’t worry about packing tons of extra diapers: just bring enough for the trip. You can always buy basic baby supplies once you get to your destination. Any local supermarket or pharmacy will carry what you need.

Use trains to get around

If you’re using public transportation on your trip, a train is absolutely the safest method. Thankfully, Europe is full of trains, which makes your travel even easier. You can carry your baby with you, and in many cases, they can travel for free!

Plan for one travel hub rather than moving around

While it’s tempting to plan a few nights in Italy, a few in Spain, a couple in Denmark, and so forth, be careful not to overbook your trip.

Instead of planning fewer nights in more places, plan more nights in fewer places. Southern Europe gets very hot in the summer: it’s not unusual to see temperatures of over 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit) for multiple days in a row.

So, when traveling with your baby, it may be best to avoid July and August. But don’t worry: you can catch good weather and avoid the crowds by traveling in May-June or September-October.

We visit Malta with all three of our children. Avalee was 2 and actually celebrated turning 3 in Malta.

We spent a few weeks exploring this island and found plenty of fun things that kept our kids entertained.

We rented a car when we explored Malta (you can easily rent one through Discover Cars ). It made life really easy to come and go as we please and work around our toddler’s sleep schedule.

You can also make use of the hop-on-hop-off buses if you prefer not to rent a car.

Most restaurants should have high chairs so I wouldn’t bother bringing one along. Overall we found it really easy to explore Malta with our 2-year-old.

There are so many destinations to visit in Italy, but I think the three regions that we found were the easiest to explore with a toddler were Tuscany (stroller-friendly), Sicily (for a beach holiday), and Puglia (for a beach holiday).

Tuscany is a picturesque region of Italy perfect for travelers with toddlers. Its towns are fairly flat, making them more stroller-friendly in comparison to towns in other regions.

• We recommend basing yourself at either Lucca or Florence and exploring some of the other towns and cities on day trips from there.
• Spend an afternoon biking along the walls of Lucca and getting lost in the streets in the historic town center.
• Stroll around Florence (don’t miss Piazza Della Repubblica and its antique carousel), or have a picnic in the famous Boboli Gardens .

I highly recommended that you bring along a lightweight stroller and a toddler baby carrier . Because many of the streets will be cobblestone streets, I recommend bringing one with bigger rubber wheels.

In cities you will find Supermarkets  typically have an aisle dedicated to baby supplies. Diapers will be cheaper here than at the pharmacies. You can find brands such as Huggies and Pampers.

We tried to stock up in the cities as it is much harder to find supplies in smaller towns. In the smaller towns we often only found baby items in pharmacies.

Where to Stay in Italy with a Toddler

• Florence in Tuscany: I recommend  MyFlorenceHoliday Gold Bridge . Their family room includes a cot and high chair and has a kitchen area where you can prepare bottles etc.
• Lucca in Tuscany : The 4-Star Hotel Ilaria has a triple room that includes a cot. This popular hotel is located in the historic center of Lucca.
• Taormina in Sicily: I would stay at a beachfront hotel. Hotel Caparena is a 4-star hotel that offers cots. They have an outdoor pool and a private beach.
• San Vito Lo Capo in Sicily: I Mori Hotel is a 3-star hotel, located 400 metres from San Vito Lo Capo Beach. They have spacious modern rooms and can provide a cot.

The restaurants were also always open to accommodate the toddler, all had highchairs, and were happy to cook something simple, off the menu for him as he used to be a picky eater.

Some of the best places in Spain to visit with a toddler are along Costa del Sol.

The beautiful sandy beaches always had playgrounds for toddlers, as well as family-friendly chiringuitos where we as adults ordered fish, whilst the toddler would get French fries and chicken nuggets.

These chiringuitors are straight on the sand, in the shade, which allows the children to play if they get bored.

The beaches around  Malaga  are particularly family-friendly. All beaches and towns in the South of Spain are stroller friendly.

Most pubs and restaurants across Ireland allow children before 7 pm, and many restaurants have children’s menus.

When I first moved here I was still breastfeeding and found it commonplace for mothers to breastfeed in parks and other public spaces.

The city’s main park, St Stephen’s Green, is great for a family stroll. The park also has a phenomenal playground with toddler-accessible features.

While I love Dublin, to get a real sense of Ireland you need to get out west. One of my favorite toddler-friendly destinations in the country is the town of Dingle.

Our family was pleasantly surprised by how welcome our children and toddler were everywhere we went. Pubs quickly produced high chairs. Changing tables were readily available in restrooms and parks.

If you travel via train, we found the train station attendants were quick to help us find a car for our stroller and our family.

We found everything that we needed easily. Private transfers provided safe, clean car seats. Taxis fit the entire stroller with your sleeping child buckled inside. And many hotels or rentals provide toddler beds!

However, Tesco, a popular grocery chain in the UK is always nearby where you can purchase an extra bag of diapers (nappies), snacks, wipes, and more.

 If you’re planning a trip to the Czech Republic with toddlers, Prague is the best place to visit. Most attractions are outdoors, leaving plenty of space for busy toddlers to run around. I visited Prague on my first solo trip with a toddler when my daughter was 2. 

There are plenty of family-friendly attractions, events, and places to eat. Another highlight is the many family-friendly festivities throughout the year, from the traditional Christmas markets to Prague Easter Market.

We visited Prague Easter Market and loved trying the traditional cuisine and buying souvenirs. Look out for the horse and carts in the central square – the perfect activity for toddlers.

During our stay with our toddler, we found that many places we visited had a dedicated mother’s room for breastfeeding and changing diapers.

There are so many great places to baby friendly city breaks in Europe that we have organised this section alphabetically to make it easier to navigate. 

For each city we will look at how stroller friendly each place is, the best way to get around as well as the best things to do in each city with a baby. 

Amsterdam City Break with Baby

What to pack for Amsterdam in July – what to wear in Amsterdam in July

Amsterdam is one of the best city breaks in Europe to take with a baby. And I should now as we lived in the city with a baby for several years. 

If you are traveling around the city with a new baby then walking, trams and metro are the easiest way to get around the city. However if you are traveling with a slight older baby, rent a bike and cycle on one of the cities many cycle paths to take a tour. 

But if bikes aren’t your thing then a canal boat tour is a great way to see the main sites with a baby. There are also lots of baby friendly museums in the cities such as the Maritime Museum, the Rijksmuseum or the NEMO science musem. 

My little one also loved the Artis, the Amsterdam Zoo which is a great place for both toddlers and babies. There are also lots of baby friendly parks nearby too. But a favorite has to be the Amsterdam Bos where there is an amazing free farm where little ones can get up close with goats. Really the city is full of baby friendly things to do. 

And there is no bad time to visit Amsterdam however my favorite time in Amsterdam is April as you get to take some perfect family photos in front of tulips. 

Athens City Break with a baby! 

Athens is one of the best city breaks with a baby you can take. Although not the most stroller friendly in some of the ancient places such as the Acropolis, it is easily accessible with a carrier. And other famous places in the cities such as the Olympic Stadium, Lykabettos (the hill opposite the Acropolis) the Acropolis Museum, and the gardens behind Parliament are all very baby friendly.

All of these places are easy to get to by public transportation, which despite Athens’ street network, is super easy to use. The Metro especially is incredibly easy to ride and can take you pretty much anywhere. If you leave the city center, things can get a little more challenging using a stroller but a well planned excursion can save you the hassle. 

The nightlife is also very family friendly in Athens. In fact, I recommend staying out late with your child. People watching is a past time in Greece and kids love it. You’ll see plenty of Greeks and their children out and about as late as 12 am and beyond, enjoying breezy warm evenings and nights in the company of friends in local squares and dining outdoors at taverns. 

All in all, Athens is really one of the best city breaks with a baby that you can take.

Barcelona City Break with Baby 

We took a Barcelona with baby at 6 months old and we went for a long weekend. We travelled in October as we felt that Barcelona in the summer months might be too hot for the baby to fully enjoy. But I have to say visiting Barcelona in the shoulder season was absolutely perfect with a baby.

BARCELONA CITY BREAK WITH BABY

Barcelona is a perfect destination for a city break with a baby with plenty of attractions for parents and child. We loved how green the city was – our favourite places include Parc Guell and Montjuic. The cable car ride to the top of Montjuic would delight most. 

The pretty much guaranteed nice weather and variety of outdoor activities mean it is a great city for families of any age! We enjoyed walking the parks, visiting art museums, the aquarium, Barcelona zoo and botanic garden. The only place we struggled with was the bocqueria which was difficult with both stroller and carrier. We however found great respite in the Catalan Cultural Centre which offered great peace from the hustle and bustle of Las Ramblas.

Overall Barcelona is one of the best European cities to visit with babies.

Berlin With Baby 

Berlin one of the best baby friendly cities in europe

Berlin is a great destination to visit no matter the time of year you decide to travel

We chose Berlin because we were looking for somewhere to travel in early December, and what could be more festive than wandering around Christmas markets in Germany?  The wonderful Chistmassy atmosphere in December – my daughter was totally entranced by all the lights, Christmas trees and market rides. There was a lot of enthusiastic pointing.

The fantastic public transport system in Berlin makes it really easy to get around with a small person, even one who refuses to use a stroller and insists on being carried everywhere or walking VERY SLOWLY.

We recommend purchasing a Berlin WelcomeCard, which you can get to cover anything from 48 hours to 6 days and gives you free travel on all public transport, plus discounts in museums.

One of the great things we did in the city was the Computerspielemuseum, which covers the history of computer and video games and includes lots of old games you can actually play. If you are traveling with older children or your baby has nearly reached the toddler age then they will even enjoy all the hands on activities here.

Bern City Breaks with Babies

BERN CITY BREAKS WITH BABIES

Although most visitors to Switzerland choose to have Geneva as their home base Bern is a great city break with a baby.

The historical city can easily be explored on foot which makes it one of the most baby friendly cities in Europe even with a stroller. On top of that the city has a good frequency of transportation.

There are numerous gardens in Bern. Then there is the bear park along the river. It should definitely be fun for the kids to watch the bears frolicking in the water and around the shores especially if you are visiting the city with small children and babies. 

We visited in January and it had been snowing. The city was beautifully painted in white color. We explored the historical center of Bern and then had fun at the ice rink set up near the parliament.

Our little one had fun playing with the snow in the park behind the gorgeous Bern Cathedral especially the clock. For a few minutes before the hour the clock struck and the figurines in the clock tower, Zytgloggem twirled and turned which makes for a great show that even babies will like to watch.

Brussels City Break with baby

Brussels is a great city break with a baby to take. We went because we really wanted to see the Carpet of Flowers but there is so much more to love about the city.

It’s so open, multicultural, they speak French and English so communication was easy and there was never a language barrier issue, and everything was close enough that we could walk to it if we didn’t want to bother with Public transit. The trains were a little rough to access with a stroller but we didn’t have a problem on the buses or walking around the city with a stroller. 

All the activities we wanted to do had stroller access such as Mini Europe, Natural History Museum, Comic strip museum and Grand Place which in our opinion makes it one of the most stroller friendly cities in Europe. 

Eating out was also relatively easy in Brussels with a baby. Most restaurants had a child’s menu but they didn’t have much place for the stroller inside the building so they asked that we fold it up and store it in the main office.

All the attractions were very family friendly, with easy access with a stroller, free for under 3s and most importantly, there was so much to do within walking distance that we didn’t even use public transit the first time we visited. It really is one of the most baby friendly European cities.

Copenhagen Weekend Breaks With a Baby

Copenhagen one of the best european cities to visit with a baby

Copenhagen is filled with opportunities and beautiful architecture and so much history – so much to see and do and all in walking distance making it one of the best European cities to visit with a baby. 

It is also a city that really has no best time to visit as there is something appealing about this city in both summer and winter. 

Lifts at every public transport hub, plenty of room for buggies on train and buses and generally just an atmosphere that welcomes families with a lot of baby friendly areas, plus lots of playgrounds in and around the city.

We went to the Tivoli Gardens a magical park that takes amusement park to the next level. It has an amazing atmosphere and also plenty for young kids to enjoy, but even babies will love Copenhagen.  Elliot was absolutely mesmerised by the lights in the park.

 There is so much to see and do, but sometimes with a little one it’s good to know where you can go and catch a breather – free of charge if your child isn’t playing ball. In our opinion this is one of the best places to visit in Europe with a baby!

Dublin City Break with baby and toddler

If you are looking for the best city breaks with a baby to take then look no further than Dublin.

We did a Dublin city break with toddler and baby in June which was a great time to visit. This was our first trip to Ireland and we were planning on spending several weeks in the country. However as we were traveling to Ireland from the United States it made sense to start our family vacation in Dublin which has a direct flight from New York and many major US cities. 

Dublin is a wonderful city to visit with babies and kids! We walked the entire city – no taxi or public transit needed. Strolling is my favorite way to explore the nooks and crannies of a city and the city streets of Dublin are no exception. Walking is the best way to see this city and comes with the added bonus that you don’t have to fight the kids to get in their car seats.

Some of our favorite attractions in Dublin were Trinity College and its famous library, the Guinness Storehouse (go upstairs to see the great section of cheeky ads from the company’s history) and St. Stephen’s Green.

But our absolute favorite experience was spending a Sunday evening at Legends Bar at The Parliament Hotel listening to traditional music – sessions start early on Sundays, so it’s perfect for the entire family.

They were even so kind as to bring bowls of ice cream for the kids to enjoy while we had a few drinks.

In our opinion this is one of the most baby friendly European city breaks you can take!

Florence Weekend Breaks with Baby 

Why Florence is one of the best city breaks with a baby

When I booked my trip to Italy, I knew that I couldn’t miss stopping in the Renaissance city of Florence, Italy as part of our Italian road trip.

The atmosphere in Florence still felt serene even with the hustle and bustle of the city. Italy as a whole is a very easy place to travel with toddlers and babies, and Florence is one of the most baby friendly city breaks in Italy. It isn’t too large which makes it easy to navigate even with a stroller though a carrier is needed inside some of the buildings. 

Make sure you visit the Florence Cathedral and Duomo and take a walk up to Piazzale Michelangelo for some great views of the city.  And let the little ones have some fun on the famous antique carousel in Piazza della Repubblica.

Haarlem with a baby

If you are travelling to Europe with a baby then you really should consider stopping in Haarlem, in the Netherlands. The Netherlands is a great place for a family vacation. And although most people tend to stick to Amsterdam, Haarlem is also a great place to visit. Haarlem is a great place to visit with children of all ages and really is of the most baby friendly European cities.

There are a lot of kid-friendly restaurants, nice petting farms and there are numerous museums that offer kids programs. Haarlem is easy to reach by train from Amsterdam, it has a good public transport network and the city center is compact enough to cover by foot.

Combine a visit to the impressive Grote or St. Bavo Church on the Grote Markt, the city’s main square, with lunch at Meneer Paprika (Koningstraat 19-21) or Pippa’s (Stationsplein 64) and then take your kids to playground Het Paradijsje (Witte Herenstraat 36, open Tuesday-Saturday 10:00-17:00, entrance fee €1).

Haarlem has won awards for Netherland’s best shopping destination a number of times. Fun shops for kids stuff are Meneer Paprika(Koningstraat 19-21), Minimarkt (Kruisstraat 11), Krokodil (GedempteOude Gracht 84) and Tante Steef (Zijlstraat 66). It really is one of the best European Cities to visit with baby in tow.

Luxembourg is a popular European city break destination. Right in the heart of Europe with easy transport connections to other European capitals, visitors come here to soak up the culture and take in the views over the spectacular gorges and ancient fortifications.

It is also easy to navigate around the city itself with an amazing public transit network that is free for all. 

Fortunately for young families, Luxembourg is also home to the most colourful, imaginative and well-equipped public playgrounds in the local parks that we have ever seen.

Between visits to museums and forts, why not let the children play in a cartoon farmyard or a full-size pirate ship? Let them act as knights and princesses in a whimsical castle, or roar into the sky at their very own airport.

And if you want something quieter, take a guided nature trail into the nearby woods. There is surely something in Luxembourg for every family.

Who doesn’t love a Portuguese custard tart

If you looking for baby friendly Europe destinations then look no further than Lisbon! Aside from being delightfully pretty in a slightly dishevelled way, Lisbon offers great value, delicious food (Portugal’s custard desserts are one of my weaknesses) and a location within day trip distance of some beautiful sandy beaches.

Known as the “City of Seven Hills”, families shouldn’t be put off by Lisbon’s undulating terrain; pushing a buggy up to trendy Bairro Alto justifies indulging in a custard tart (pasteis de nata) in one of the many enticing cafes.

For our stay with our 18 month old son, we opted for an apartment in Lapa, one of the less hilly districts. If you have a tiny baby, Lisbon lends itself well to idle wandering along its famous crazy-paving avenues and picturesque lanes, and lazy lunches with a bottle of refreshing Vinho Verde.

For infants on the move, head to the brilliant, spacious and relatively crowd-free aquarium, located next to a pedestrianised waterfront, ideal for little people to explore. Despite not being one of the most stroller friendly places in Europe we think it really is one of the best places in Europe to travel with a baby or toddler. 

Just remember that Lisbon is an exceptionally hilly location, it is called the City of Seven Hills after all, so it is worth packing a baby carrier as well as a stroller with you no matter the time of year you visit this amazing city. 

It is also worth noting that a visit to Lisbon could also be combined with a visit to the Algarve region of Portugal. This area is full of beautiful beaches, and luxury family-friendly resorts many of which also have amazing kids clubs.

London City  Breaks with Baby

Traveling to London with a baby

If you are looking for one of the best European cities with baby to visit then you really should be considering London. There are lots of bucket list sights that you are going to want to see such as Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London and Big Ben and are great places for family trip photos. 

There are also lots of activities aimed specially at toddlers and babies which means they will find plenty to amuse themselves. In our opinion one of the best things to do in the city with babies is visit one of the many free museums.  

Lots of the museums  in London are really toddler and baby friendly and have activities specifically designed for this age bracket. This is an especially great option if you are visiting London on a particularly rainy week ! There also are loads of other k id friendly activities in the city.  On top of that London is actually one of the more stroller friendly European cities and is very easy to navigate.

It is also a city that has plenty to do if you are traveling with older kids too as well as in proximity to amazing day trip locations such as Brighton with its beautiful beaches, the Cotswolds and theme parks such as Legoland Windsor .

Paris with a Baby

Using a Stroller in Paris

Paris does not immediately spring to mind as a family travel destination but we have found Paris great with toddlers or babies. 

It is a city that is full of amazing museums that parents will love but be sure to buy your tickets in advance so your aren’t stuck in the long lines that form especially at peak times.

Paris is a relatively easy city to navigate even with a stroller and it is a great walkable city. On top of that kids of all ages will enjoy the beautiful Paris parks and the carousels that are dotted all across the city. 

You can also get some amazing family photos in front of the Eiffel Tower and visit some other beautiful historical sites. On top of that Disneyland Paris with a baby is a great day trip to take and is a great place to make some family travel memories. 

Reykjavik with a baby

Iceland Church – one of the best things to do in reykjavik with kids

Iceland is a great country to visit with toddlers and babies and Reykjavik in particular is a great travel destinations for families. 

The city is very walkable with a stroller and has lots of family friendly attractions. However the real joy in Iceland is taking a day trip out to the Golden Circle and seeing the natural beauty such as waterfalls, beaches, the northern lights and more.

FAmily in Rome with baby – Best European Cities to Visit with Babies

As a couple Rome was our favourite city in the world so knew we wanted to take our baby as soon as possible. She was six months on our first trip and we loved every second of our time there, despite the earthquakes and biblical rain. 

I know it’s a cliche but it is so true that Italians love children which makes it so much easier to visit as you are welcomed literally everywhere.

Before we went we heard that Rome was difficult as you couldn’t use a stroller and there were few places to change baby so when we saw the rain and knew we had to use the stroller we were worried. We shouldn’t have been! We walked all over there city seeing all the main landmarks without problem.

People were right about lack of baby change facilities though so we have compiled this guide to make life easier for parents wanting to visit Rome!

 Another great thing about Rome is that the food is amazing – I mean who doesn’t love pizza, pasta and gelato! Probably the most family friendly foodie destination I have been too. 

My top tip visiting Rome would be to walk as much as possible – and who wouldn’t want to walk a city such as Rome. We managed to take in all the sites from the Colosseum and Forum to the Vatican and Pantheon in one day.

Also, we used the stroller and found it really easy but if you are going to go inside the forum or the museums be aware that you will need a carrier!

One of the best places to visit for families of any age are  Borghese Gardens ! I think great cities have great parks and this is definitely Rome’s. It offers peace and tranquility away from all the hustle and bustle of the city!

Stockholm with a baby

We went to Stockholm before Christmas to get in the festive spirit and it was magical. We have also visited during the summer and had an equally albeit busier time. It is great to visit in winter as you are away from the crowds but you just have to prepare for the cold and deal with a baby who refuses to keep her mittens on!

We loved walking around Gamla Stan and eating meatballs at Tradition – our favourite restaurant in Stockholm! You won’t be able to eat Ikea meatballs again after tasting their yummy version! It is also one of the few restaurants we found that had highchairs available so this should be on any families radar for Stockholm!

Our favourite thing about Stockholm is all the green spaces. We loved the botanic gardens but our top thing to do in Stockholm is visit Skansen the living history museum! It is fab and a great day our for families of any age. We also really enjoyed the Vasa Museum. 

Our top tip for Stockholm would be to prepare for the weather and know where you want to eat as finding baby friendly restaurants was the most difficult thing we found there.

Such a great compilation post. I love that there are so many people traveling with their babies. We took off on a three week camping and driving trip around southern France and Spain with our (then) 3 month old daughter. It was one of the best trips of our lives! So many great places to take baby on a holiday. All it takes is a little research to ensure it is easy enough to get about with a stroller and there are baby facilities about. We have found Singapore to be one of the best destinations that meet these criteria along with hotel options that accommodate babies and toddlers.

9 Trips to Take Before Having a Baby

Adventure travel and babies—or even toddlers—don’t exactly go hand in hand. Parents of young children may also find that it’s difficult to fully indulge in a relaxation vacation, unless you take turns parenting with your partner while the other soaks in the geothermal pools, learns to kite board, or gets a hot stone massage.
