Katra town, the base camp for visiting the famous shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi , lies at the foot of Trikuta Mountains , 48 kms. from Jammu. "Shri Mata Vaishno Devi"

The Holy Cave of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine is situated at a distance of 48 kms north of Jammu city and at an altitude of 5200 feet on Trikuta hills. A pilgrimage to the Holy Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji is considered to be one of the holiest pilgrimages. The Holy Cave attracts millions of devotees every year. This is due to the unflinching faith of the devotees who throng the Shrine from all parts of India and abroad. Katra town, the base for the pilgrims, is a small town surrounded by green Trikuta hills. From Jammu the devotees reach Katra by bus and other private vehicles by road. Jammu and Udhampur are the nearest rail links to the Katra town with the rest of India. After reaching Katra town, the pilgrims have to undertake a trek of nearly 12 km from the base camp. At the culmination of their pilgrimage, the pilgrims are blessed with the Darshans of the Mother Goddess inside the Sanctum Sanctorum- the Holy Cave. These Darshans are in the shape of three natural rock formations called the Pindies. There are no statues or idols inside the Cave and the Yatra is open all around the year.

• Before proceeding for the trek, obtain a Yatra slip from Yatra Registration Counter, near bus stand KatraThe slip is issued free of cost. . No one is allowed to proceed beyond Banganga check post without obtaining the Yatra slip.
• Please uphold the sanctity of the pilgrimage and avoid loud dresses, vulgar language or offensive talk or gestures. The yatra is a journey of faith. Please do not treat it as a picnic or a vacation outing.
• On arrival at Bhawan, obtain the group number at the Yatra slip check post to get into the queue for Darshans.
• Proceed for Darshans only when the Group number is announced and avoid crowding for Darshans at Gate No.1. Abide by the procedure and wait for the turn of Darshans. Do not attempt to jump the queue.

Our booking was on day we were suppose to stay, but after reaching Jammu, city was closed and we couldn’t reach katra, so I called manager sushmaji, she immediately help us to switch over our booking for next day, we appreciate her prompt service, after reaching next day early morning we had little breakfast as we were going for darshan at bhavan, in the evening after we came back we requested kitchen manager MR surendraji to arrange next day breakfast early morning 5.30, He immediately with smile agreed and arranged with toast, sandwich, fruits, tea coffee, which was ready early morning. What a high value service and hospitality by the staff of the hotel . . Hotel was good at prime location , just front of Katra Bus Stand and Yatra registration office . Parking for vehicle is there . Rooms are good but require regular cleanliness as housekeeping staff is not available through out the day. Restaurant is under renovation , but the outside view from the restaurant is beautiful specially during rainy season. We have reached early morning and mentioned for early check in , which was not available due to heavy rush , however they have accommodated in 1 room for 2 hours for fresh up and proceed for yatra . Room service and room cleanliness is an issue but rest others are fine.

Reception staff is good. Rooms are large. The rooms were large and room comforts were very good (like room heating, semi-firm mattresses, fluffy pillows, clean sheets, clean soft towels, etc. Very peaceful environment throughout. The manager was accommodating to our request for early check-in and late check-out and we are thankful to them for it. Location is very good, right at the heart of the city. However there were a few shortcomings in the hotel which we wish could be improved: 1. During the evening time we felt a foul smell covering the lobby. Perhaps from the kitchen as it smelt of rotten vegetables. The ventilation seems poor 2. The restaurant was not operational during our stay due to staff shortage 3. Bathroom lacked proper ventilation 4. It is centrally Air Conditioned and so it can only be turned on or off and cannot be adjusted any further
