Viator’s error was our WIN! We were emailed a cancellation and started to look for other wine tour- lucky for us we found Andrea and this spectacular tour of the region, 2 vineyards, a beautiful lunch and a walking tour of Montepulciano. What a fabulous day! We spent the entire day yesterday touring wineries around Montepulciano...Le Berne, Romeo, and Godiolo. We got a far more detailed look at winemaking than any other tour or tasting we have ever been on. We met the families, tasted fabulous wines and learned about the local winemaking traditions/philosophies. Our guide was as interesting as he was gracious and very very funny. We shipped a few hidden gems home to our friends and took some home to drink before we leave. If you've never been to Montepulciano, it is one of the most beautiful small towns I have ever seen. It is where "Under the Tuscan Sun" was filmed. It is a two-hour drive outside Florence, but if you have the time, it is worth every minute of the drive. At the pick-up point, we met some people who had done the truffle hunting tour. They were so excited about their experiences, we booked a second tour with Italy and Wine! We can not wait. This is a great tour company and a fabulous way to spend a day in Florence!!
