PGA Tour schedule 2024: Notable changes include only three signature events with 36-hole cuts

The pga tour has officially announced its 2024 schedule, and it has undergone a facelift.

pga-tour-logo-june-2018.jpg

The PGA Tour released its official 2024 regular-season and FedEx Cup Playoffs schedule Monday, and it looks different than it ever has before. The most notable change -- beyond returning to a calendar-year season for the first time in a decade -- is that only three of the eight signature events (formerly known as designated) will feature a standard 36-hole cut.

In total, there will be 36 regular-season events and three postseason tournaments on the calendar with eight receiving signature status alongside the 50th playing of The Players Championship and the four major championships. Of the eight signature events, the Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Memorial Tournament will feature 36-hole cuts as a field of 80 players will be trimmed to the top 50 and ties at the halfway point.

Eligibility for signature events includes the top 50 finishers from the 2022-23 FedEx Cup standings, "The Next 10" -- the top 10 in that year's FedEx Cup standings (not otherwise exempt), "The Swing 5" -- the top five points earners from full-field events between signature events (not otherwise exempt) -- the top 30 in the Official World Golf Rankings and all tournament winners from the current season. Each signature event will also have four sponsor exemptions.

No cuts will be made made at The Sentry, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, RBC Heritage, Wells Fargo Championship or Travelers Championship as well as the three FedEx Cup Playoffs events. Signature events will not be mandatory for top players in 2024, though they will still have significantly bigger purses.

The Pebble Beach Pro-Am receives signature status in lieu of the WM Phoenix Open, which will once again conclude on Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 11). The Phoenix Open is not the only tournament to be affected in the new schedule as the Canadian Open will be moved up one week on the calendar and switch spots with the Memorial.

The Memorial will now be played in June kicking off a stretch of three straight high-level events with the U.S. Open and Travelers Championship to follow. The 2024 Paris Olympics will affect the schedule, too, as the competition takes place the week before the Wyndham Championship, pushing the regular-season finale and the postseason back by a week.

Following the 2024 season, the FedEx Cup Fall emerges where players will jostle for positioning ahead of the 2025 season. The FedEx Cup Fall will finalize the top 125 eligibility and provide exempt status into full-field events as well as the Players Championship. Players ranked No. 51 or higher from the previous year's FedEx Cup will carry over their points into the fall and continue to accumulate towards their eligibility status.

The top 10 finishers from the FedEx Cup Fall, not otherwise exempt, will be eligible for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Genesis Invitational. Winners during the FedEx Cup Fall will also receive a two-year PGA Tour exemption, entry into The Sentry and the Players Championships as well as invitations to major championships that exempt PGA Tour winners.

The FedEx Cup Fall portion of the 2024 PGA Tour schedule will be announced at a later date.

Notable changes to 2024 PGA Tour schedule

  • Signature events are not mandatory for star players
  • 700 FedEx Cup points awarded to the winner of signature events
  • Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Memorial will be 80-man fields with 36-hole cuts for top 50 and ties
  • Signature events with no 36-hole cuts: The Sentry, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, RBC Heritage, Wells Fargo Championship, Travelers Championship and FedEx Cup Playoffs
  • The Memorial will be played the week prior to the U.S. Open
  • $25 million bonus will be awarded to 2024 FedEx Cup champion, up from $18 million in 2023

2024 PGA Tour schedule shows pathway to signature events, large purse no-cut events

The PGA Tour released its new 2024 schedule yesterday with “new events, new sponsorships and new layers of intrigue to some of the Tour’s most important traditions,” according to Sean Zak of GOLF. Among the changes are “another change to the moniker of ‘Signature Events.’” The events will consist of fields with the “best players from the previous year” and “some of the hottest players in the current year.” Zak noted that there will be “at least one Signature Event per month, excluding July,” and to “generally expect the top players to meet 16 times a year.” Zak wrote the Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer events have been “elevated further” as the Genesis Invitational, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Memorial Tournament will all “feature a 36-hole cut, a controversial piece of the tournament-making puzzle.” Next year’s schedule will also see the winner of the 2024 FedEx Cup earn $25M, a $7M “increase from 2023.” Changes are also coming to the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, as the amateurs “will be swept away from the field as we turn to the final two rounds.” Zak: “It’ll improve the TV product and it might even improve play.” Zak added the schedule is “still not completely finalized,” as the February event annually held at PGA National is still without a sponsor. Zak noted an announcement for that event is “expected in the coming months.” Zak also noted an “additional event will be played during the Scottish Open,” but we “just don’t know where” ( GOLF, 8/7 ).

LABOR DAY WEEKEND FINISH : In Atlanta, Chris Vivlamore reported next year’s Tour Championship will be “held one week later, and over Labor Day weekend” Aug 27-Sept. 1. The tournament will move a week later off its normal date of the third week in August due to the men’s golf competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics from July 29-Aug. 4. It will be a “one-time move” for the Tour Championship. Vivlamore added next year’s Tour Championship will be played at the “new-look East Lake Golf Club,” which will be “shut down immediately after this year’s tournament later this month for a massive renovation project” ( ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 8/7 ).

FULL SWING : GOLF DIGEST’s Todd Leonard noted the Tour “also addressed one of the biggest concerns expressed by those among its rank-and-file members: How would they be able to get into the most lucrative tournaments?” In the new system, beyond the players from the top 50 of the previous year's FedEx Cup standings and top 30 in the OWGR, there are categories called the “Next 10” and the “Swing 5.” The Next 10 is “composed of the top 10 members, not otherwise exempt,” from the current FedEx Cup standings. The Swing 5 are the “top five FedEx Cup points earners, not otherwise exempt, from the swing of five full-field and additional events that precede each signature event.” Leonard wrote the categories are “for players who get hot at just the right time” ( GOLF DIGEST, 8/7 ) .

SPLITTING THE DIFFERENCE : SI’s Bob Harig noted the no-cut, limited-field model is the “direction the Tour was heading throughout this year” but adding a cut to the three legacy events was “viewed as a concession.” Those tournaments will “still have a maximum of 80 players,” meaning only a “dozen or so will but cut after 36 holes.” Harig noted the $20M purses at those events are “being redistributed” so the winner gets $4M, or “20 percent of the total, as opposed to the usual 18 percent” ( SI, 8/7 ).

A SEASON-LONG CASH GRAB : SI’s Gary Van Sickle wrote the new PGA Tour schedule can “be described in one word: Greed.” Van Sickle: “The idea of making most of the Elevated Events no-cut helps make them less interesting.” Not even Tiger Woods is “in favor of a no-cut concept” and he “argued against it, apparently successfully, for the Genesis Invitational.” But in “order to win back the PGA Tour players who were outraged by commissioner Jay Monahan’s cave-in and the deal” to take on the Saudis as business partners, the Tour’s strategy is “clearly to throw even more money at the players.” Van Sickle wrote the no-cut rule “eliminates any sense of urgency” and just like LIV Golf, the “guaranteed check morphs an actual golf tournament into a necessary appearance” ( SI, 8/7 ).

PGA Tour

The PGA Tour announced its 2024 schedule Monday, as golf fans will see massive changes next season .

As a part of the 31-week schedule, there will be eight “Signature Events,” re-named from the “Designated Events” implemented during the 2022-23 season.

These Signature Events will feature limited-field tournaments, roughly 70-to-80 players. Increased prize money will be available, and 700 FedEx Cup points will go to the winner. Five of these eight tournaments will not feature a 36-hole cut.

They are listed below, with an asterisk indicating a non-cut event:

1. The Sentry, Plantation Course at Kapalua (Jan. 4-7)*

2. AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Pebble Beach Golf Links (Feb. 1-4)*

3. The Genesis Invitational, Riviera Country Club (Feb. 15-18)

4. Arnold Palmer Invitational, Bay Hill Club & Lodge (Mar. 7-10)

5. RBC Heritage, Harbour Town Golf Links (Apr. 18-21)*

6. Wells Fargo Championship, Quail Hollow Country Club (May 6-12)*

7. The Memorial Tournament, Muirfield Village Golf Club (Jun. 3-9)

8. Travelers Championship, TPC River Highlands (Jun. 17-23)*

The player-hosted invitationals, The Genesis Invitational hosted by Tiger Woods ; The Arnold Palmer Invitational; and the Memorial Tournament hosted by Jack Nicklaus , will feature 70-to-80 players and have a 36-hole cut. These three tournaments will also see a redistribution of prize money, allocating 20 percent to the winner ($4 million), up from 18 percent.

After Friday’s round, the top 50 players will make the weekend at these three events. A 10-shot rule will also be implemented.

PGA Tour, The Sentry, Kapalua

The Sentry at Kapalua, the opening tournament of the year, will feature PGA Tour winners from the previous calendar year and those 50 players that qualify for the 2023 BMW Championship, the second event in the FedExCup Playoffs .

From that point forward, tour officials have created “Next 10” and “Swing 5,” allowing players who move up the FedEx Cup standings to qualify for the other seven Signature Events. Those that qualify for the BMW Championship and the other 15 members from the Next 10 and Swing 5 will comprise the remaining seven fields.

“The Next 10 represents the top 10 members, not otherwise exempt, from the FedExCup standings,” per the PGA Tour’s release. “The Swing 5 includes the top five FedExCup points earners, not otherwise exempt, from the swing of full-field and additional events preceding each Signature Event.”

The PGA Tour also provided a timeline for the Next 10 and the Swing 5 for the seven Signature Events outside The Sentry.

It shifts every month, meaning players will have the opportunity to jump into and fall out of the seven remaining Signature Events.

For instance, at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the Next 10 include those players who finished in the top 10 of the final 2023 FedExCup Fall standings. The Swing 5 will be the top five FedExCup points earners not otherwise exempt from the Sony Open in Hawaii, The American Express, and the Farmers Insurance Open, the three tournaments immediately before the tour returns to Pebble Beach.

Tiger Woods, Jon Rahm, The Genesis Invitational

Two weeks later, for the Genesis Invitational, a similar formula applies to the one used for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The only difference is that the Waste Management Phoenix Open is included for calculating the Swing 5.

The tour then shifts to Florida in March, where the Arnold Palmer Invitational highlights the Florida Swing.

The Arnold Palmer Invitational field will include those 50 players that qualified for the 2023 BMW Championship. It will also include the Next 10 highest players in the current FedEx Cup standings through the Classic in The Palm Beaches, held Feb. 29-Mar. 3. The Swing 5 will feature top FedExCup points earners not otherwise exempt from the Mexico Open at Vidanta and The Classic in The Palm Beaches.

PGA Tour, RBC Heritage

Following The Masters, the top 70-to-80 players will head to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, for the RBC Heritage.

The Next 10 will feature those next 10 players in the current FedExCup standings through the Masters Tournament. The Swing 5 will include the top five FedExCup points earners not otherwise exempt from the Puerto Rico Open, the Valspar Championship, the Texas Children’s Houston Open, and Valero Texas Open.

The PGA Tour returns to Quail Hollow Country Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, for the Wells Fargo Championship from May 9-12.

The Next 10 will feature those next 10 players from the current FedExCup standings through AT&T Byron Nelson, which will be held May 2-5. The Swing 5 will feature the top FedExCup points earners from the Corales Puntacana Championship, the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, and the AT&T Byron Nelson.

Then, in June, the Memorial Tournament moves back a week as it will be contested the week before the U.S. Open .

It swaps places with the RBC Canadian Open.

Viktor Hovland, Jack Nicklaus, The Memorial Tournament

At the Memorial, along with the top 50 finishers in the 2022-23 FedEx Cup standings, the Next 10 will feature those next ten players from the current FedExCup standings through RBC Canadian Open. The Swing 5 will be those top FedExCup points earners from the inaugural Myrtle Beach Classic, the Charles Schwab Challenge, and the RBC Canadian Open.

Then, immediately following the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina, the PGA Tour shifts to Connecticut for the Travelers Championship, meaning the third major of the season is sandwiched between two Signature Events.

At the Travelers Championship, which will be held from Jun. 20-23, the Next 10 will include those ten players from the current FedExCup standings through U.S. Open. The Swing 5 will consist of the top FedExCup points earners from the same three tournaments needed for the Memorial.

Once the Signature Events conclude, the Tour will have the same playoff structure as in 2023, which will again begin in August.

The Top 70 players in the FedEx Cup standings qualify for the first playoff event in Memphis.

From there, the top 50 will head to Colorado for the BMW Championship.

Then, the 2024 season concludes with the top 30 in the FedEx Cup standings going to Atlanta for the Tour Championship at East Lake.

These Are the PGA Tour Schedule Changes Coming in 2024

  • Author: Bob Harig

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — There is now more clarity on what the PGA Tour schedule will look like in 2024 and beyond.

After nearly a week of conjecture following a memo sent to players, commissioner Jay Monahan had a news conference on Tuesday at TPC Sawgrass, site of this week’s Players Championship.

Several issues are now more apparent, with others still to be worked out over the coming year. Here are the highlights.

There Will Be Eight Designated Events

For the purposes of explanation, the Tour is removing the four major championships, the Players Championship and the three FedEx Cup playoff events from the discussion. They are part of the 16 events that the majority of players will compete in every year. The playoff events are all no-cut events.

The other designated events will include the season-opening Sentry Tournament of Champions, with the field expanded to the top 50 in FedEx Cup points from the previous year as well as tournament winners from the preceding year. The legacy events—Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational and Memorial are also designated events. Then there are four more to be determined.

In a switch from the original plans this year, the four other designated events are expected to be locked in for several years. They will not rotate.

Small Fields, No Cuts

The eight events will all have fields between 70 and 80 players with no cuts. That means including the playoffs, there will be 11 tournaments that do not have a cut in a 34-week schedule.

Qualifications

The top 50 in the FedEx Cup standings—or those who make it to the BMW Championship, the second playoff event—will comprise the majority of those who qualify for designated events.

Then the Tour is going to a system that rewards more recent play. The top 10 in the latest FedEx Cup standings who are not otherwise exempt will be eligible. And to further narrow it down, the top five points-earners in the most recent non-elevated events (those between designated events) will also earn spots. That brings the field to 65.

There will also be spots for the top 30 in the Official World Golf Ranking who are not otherwise exempt; current-year PGA Tour winners of full-points events (opposite-event winners do not automatically qualify) and four sponsor exemptions. With those, fields are projected to be at 70 or more. There will be no alternate list.

Minimum Requirements

There are none other than the 15-tournament minimum required for membership. This year, there are 20 events with 19 required. Next year, including the majors and Players and playoffs, there will be 16. There is no requirement to play any of them. The Tour will also scrap its requirement that players compete in three non-designated events, as is the case this year.

The Schedule Cadence

The Tour said non-designated events will no longer be isolated. For example, the Honda Classic was between two designated events on either side. The plan is have at least two non-designated events and often three between them. That allows those tournaments to attract some top players who don’t want to take so much time off. It also creates a mini-qualification system for the upcoming designated events.

FedEx Points

A final determination has not been made but designated events are going to be awarding more points. Right now, the majors and Players give 600 points to the winner, with 550 to the legacy events and 500 to regular events. It is likely that the majors and designated events will be increased while regular events will stay at 500 points. This will put more of a premium on getting into the designated events.

Player Impact Program

Next year the bonus program will pay $50 million to 10 players, with the other $50 million that was part of it this year being redirected into the FedEx Cup bonus pool and the Comcast Business Tour bonus pool. Those who partake in the bonus pool will have no requirement to play in designated events.

Not many details have come out about how the fall events following the Tour Championship will work. The Tour is returning to a calendar-year schedule in 2024, and the fall events will largely be for players to secure their playing privileges for the following year. Only the top 70 qualify for the FedEx playoffs, so these tournaments—likely seven—will determine who finishes among the top 125 for the following year.

But they will also be a way to qualify for designated events. Points will continue on from the regular season and the Tour will enact some sort of system that uses the continuation of FedEx points to help players qualify for the early-season designated events.

2024 PGA Tour schedule: Tournaments, dates, purses and venues

pga tour schedule changes 2024

The 2024 PGA Tour schedule has been announced, with a significant overhaul to the 48-event docket that golf fans have been accustomed to seeing in recent years.

The most significant changes to the schedule are going back to a calendar-year schedule, with the FedEx Cup season running from the start in January through the end of the Tour Championship in August. The FedEx Cup Fall will still unfold from September through November, but these tournaments will not count toward the full-season FedEx Cup standings -- rather, they will be added on to the FedEx Cup points earned through the FedEx St. Jude Championship to determine the top 125 in PGA Tour cards.

Signature events

The PGA Tour has created a series of signature events, all of which will have purses of at least $20 million: the Sentry Tournament of Champions, The Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Memorial Tournament, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the RBC Heritage, the Wells Fargo Championship and the Travelers Championship. These events will offer 700 FedEx Cup points to the winners and will have limited fields based on the top 50 in the prior year's FedEx Cup standings and other criteria.

FedEx Cup playoff changes

The FedEx Cup playoffs are changing for 2024 as well. The series will remain at three events, but only the top 70 players in the standings at the end of the regular season will qualify, with cuts to 50, then to 30 players after each of the FedEx Cup events. The FedEx Cup bonus pool increases this year to $100 million.

Author image

The complete schedule for the 2024 PGA Tour season has been officially released.

At the beginning of the year, all players start with zero FedEx Cup points, giving everyone a fresh start for the upcoming season.

In 2024, the competition will officially begin on January 4th. There are officially 36 events starting in January with the Sentry Tournament of Champions.

There will be eight signature events with elevated purses, four major championships, 18 full-field events, and five additional tournaments.

The new schedule is designed to up the stakes, delivering maximum consequences and drama every week.

According to PGA Tour Commissioner, Jay Monahan, the schedule will challenge their players, connecting every tournament resulting in higher stakes every week.

The 2024 PGA Tour Schedule

There will be eight signature events that will feature increased purses and FedEx Cup points.

The newest edition to the signature events will be the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. As an signature event, it’ll give newer players a chance to qualify for other tournaments throughout the year.

Unlike this past season, signature events are only expected to feature 70-80 players. Every signature event will require players to qualify via FedEx Cup rankings or by playing their way in.

In total, the Tour will have 33 events played in the U.S., two in Mexico and Scotland. The PGA Tour will also stop in Canada, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico.

There’s more on the line this year too and the purses are bigger than ever. While not all purses have been announced, most signature events are valued at $20 million or more.

Check out the final 2024 PGA Tour schedule below.

2024 FedEx Cup Playoffs Schedule

Along with the 2024 PGA Tour schedule, the FedEx Cup Playoffs have also been announced for next year. Following the same format, there will be three events with only the top 70 qualifying for the first event at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

The season will round out with the Tour Championship when the winner at East Lake Golf Club will be announced.

No purses have been revealed for the 2024 FedEx Cup Playoffs yet.

Check out the FedEx Cup Playoffs schedule below.

6 takeaways from the PGA Tour’s official schedule dump

The PGA Tour released its official schedule for 2024 Monday.

It took nearly 2,000 words for the PGA Tour to explain all the new changes to its 2024 schedule, released in an official capacity Monday afternoon. That’s lot of words for something that isn’t supposed to change much year over year — but these are weird times in pro golf. This was no regular schedule dump.

There are new events, new sponsorships and new layers of intrigue to some of the Tour’s most important traditions. Here are six main takeaways from the pro golf we’ll watch next year.

1. Get used to “Signature Events”

The last 12 months have seen the rise of Elevated Events, a name change to call them Designated Events , and now another change to the moniker of “Signature Events.” In short, they’re the fields with the best players from the previous year and some of the hottest players in the current year, playing for the biggest purses on the schedule.

They begin with the Sentry Tournament of Champions in January and are sprinkled throughout the rest of the calendar, with at least one Signature Event per month, excluding July. Toss in the Players Championship in March, the four majors in April, May, June and July and then the three playoff events in August and we can generally expect the top players to meet 16 times a year.

2. Tiger, Jack and Arnie events elevated further

There are the majors, the FedEx Cup Playoffs and the Players Championship that have generally been treated as a cut above the rest of the events on the PGA Tour schedule. Now, we have another rung of events that are just a little more noteworthy than the others.

The Genesis Invitational, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Memorial tournament will all be Signature Events, as expected, but they will also feature a 36-hole cut, a controversial piece of the tournament-making puzzle in 2023. Should an event with 70 to 80 players feature a cut? Should sponsors reap the benefits of the entire field making it to the weekend? These were the questions many golf figures have debated this summer. With these three events, we remain tethered to that tradition.

2024 PGA Tour schedule takeaways: 12 biggest winners and losers

Notably, bending away from tradition will be how those events pay out the winners. For the first time, the winner of those tournaments will take home 20% of the purse, an increase from the normal 18%. That means your 2024 Genesis Invitational champion will be holding a $4 million check come Sunday evening.

3. The money is only getting bigger

Tucked into the press release was the fact that the winner of the 2024 FedEx Cup — the year-long battle for points that culminates at the Tour Championship — will earn $25 million on their own. That’s a $7 million (38%) increase from 2023, meaning those birdies and bogeys down at East Lake are more valuable than ever before.

When that bonus money is dolled out, we will inevitably ask the winner what they intend to do with these riches. And we will likely then see another time-honored tradition play out: the winner will no doubt struggle to answer with any definitive plans for the dough. Why? Because I don’t really play for money , they’ll say. And that will be true and false at the same time.

In addition to the mega monies available at the Tour Championship, the Comcast Business Top 10 — which rewards the top FedEx Cup players through the extent of the regular season — will now dish out $40 million, or twice the lot from 2023. That’s $8 million to the regular season champ, meaning if someone sweeps the top spot in everything, we could be seeing the first $50-million season in on-course earnings.

4. Pebble Beach will look different on your TV

The golf course will look the same, don’t worry. But the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am will look very different. For starters, it will be a Signature Event and carry with it a $20 million purse. It will be the first Signature Event that includes the top players from the fall series, creating a real sweepstakes on one of the best courses in the world.

Pumped for Pebble Beach to be a big-time Tour event next year. Here's the deal: -80 pros -Pebble and Spyglass on Thurs-Fri -Pebble only Sat-Sun -Ams play Thurs-Fri -Only pros on Sat-Sun Should get a ton of top guys at one of the world's most iconic courses. In primetime. Sick! — Dylan Dethier (@dylan_dethier) August 7, 2023

Most importantly, the feel of the event will change as the “Am” part of the Pro-am will only take place over the first two days of the tournament. In years past, the weekend rounds of the Pro-Am transpired in a bit of a slog as pace of play could grind to a halt with many amateurs playing alongside the leaders of the tournament. Now, those amateurs will be swept away from the field as we turn to the final two rounds. It’ll improve the TV product and it might even improve play. Who knows. But it’ll feel different in a lot of good ways.

5. New(ish) events, new sponsors, new places!

The schedule may have been released Monday but it’s still not completely finalized. The late February event that annually visits PGA National in southern Florida will be named The Classic at the Palm Beaches — at least for the time being. A sponsor announcement for that event is expected in the coming months.

Held at the same time as the Wells Fargo Championship will be an additional event called the Myrtle Beach Classic, offering players outside the Signature Series another playing opportunity. That’ll take place at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Then, later in the summer, a similar additional event will be played during the Scottish Open. We just don’t know where. In past years, PGA Tour players who didn’t qualify or want to commute to Scotland have been able to compete in the Barbasol Championship. That event is no longer. What will fill its place? We shall see, but the Tour has made room for “TBA Event” on its calendar.

6. The Next 10 and The Swing 5

These names are going to be for the nerdiest of PGA Tour nerds, but will be important nonetheless. They’ll decide who joins the FedEx Top 50 players from 2023 in all the Signature Events in 2024. So you want to see, say, Joel Dahmen playing in the Wells Fargo Championship? Joel finished outside the top 50 this year, so he’ll have to qualify via the Next 10 or the Swing 5.

The Next 10 is simple: the next 10 players in the current-season FedEx Cup standings who hadn’t already qualified for a spot in the Signature Events will earn their way in via their recent play. Players who perform well in January and February will earn their way into March’s signature events that way. And if they play really well, they might just hold that honor for the entirety of the summer.

The Swing 5 checks a slightly different box, awarding five spots in tournaments via performances from over a shorter, specific time period: as many as four events and as little as two, between the Signature Events. Players who play well at, say, the Myrtle Beach Classic, the Charles Schwab Challenge and the Canadian Open, could go from not playing the “Signature” Wells Fargo Championship right into a spot in the “Signature” Memorial tournament field and the “Signature” Travelers Championship.

Complete 2024 PGA TOUR Schedule With Dates and Courses

The 2024 PGA TOUR schedule has been released and there are several differences from seasons past. One of the biggest changes is that the TOUR is returning to a schedule that is a complete calendar-year format. This was done as an effort to add some more downtime between the end of one season to the next.

PGA Betting Sites

The other massive change is a modification to a change that started last season when we were introduced to what is now termed Signature Events. As of the new season, there are a total of eight Signature Events with increased purses. However, only three of these “designated” tournaments will include a traditional 36-hole cut. Here is the complete 2024 PGA TOUR schedule with dates and courses.

What the New 2024 PGA TOUR Schedule Includes

The 2024 PGA TOUR schedule has 36 regular-season events with three postseason events, including the season-ending Tour Championship. Eight of the regular-season events will now be designated as Signature Events. Now, you have to add in the four Majors as well as the Players Championship.

In total, there will be 36 regular-season events and three postseason tournaments on the calendar with eight receiving signature status alongside the 50th playing of The Players Championship and the four major championships.

No-cut events will include The Sentry, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the RBC Heritage, the Wells Fargo Championship, the Travelers Championship and the three season-ending FedEx Cup Playoffs tournaments.

Signature events will not be mandatory for top players in 2024.

700 FedEx Cup points awarded to the winner of signature events.

Signature Events qualifications will be the top 50 finishers from the prior season’s FedEx Cup standings, the top 10 in that year’s FedEx Cup standings (not otherwise exempt), the top five points earners from full-field events between signature events (not otherwise exempt), the top 30 in the Official World Golf Rankings and all tournament winners from the current season.

Each signature event will also have four sponsor exemptions.

Three of the eight Signature Events will have 36-hole cuts with 80 players cut down to the top 50 and ties. The three tournaments using this format are the Genesis Invitational, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Memorial Tournament.

Here’s where the Signature Events separate! The three listed above will have 36-hole cuts, but the remaining will not. Those “No Cut” tournaments will be The Sentry, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, RBC Heritage, Wells Fargo Championship, Travelers Championship and FedEx Cup Playoffs.

What Are PGA Signature Events?

A Few Changes to Make Note Of

Let’s talk money! The purses across the PGA TOUR schedule have risen due to the addition of Signature Events. There is another increased amount that will be on the line for players to reach for. The $18 million awarded to the 2023 FedEx Champion will increase to $25 million in 2024.

The 2024 Paris Olympics has played a role in how the 2024 PGA TOUR schedule was planned. The Olympics will be held between Friday, July 26, through Sunday, August 11. This will happen just before the Wyndham Championship and will push that tournament back a week along with the remaining portion of the schedule. This includes the postseason and a visit to East Lake for the title.

Also, after a perceived snub from the PGA TOUR last season, the 2024 Pebble Beach Pro-Am will now be a Signature Event instead of the WM Phoenix Open. The argument from fans and pundits was that the rowdy Phoenix Open would always attract the best players while Pebble Beach, a historic tournament, was hurting for big names.

The 2024 PGA TOUR schedule has undergone some changes when compared to last season. However, the average golf fan may not notice. There will still be large and small events. The MAJORS will all still take place and the Olympics have been added in for some bonus swings of the sticks. The single largest difference between the upcoming season and seasons in the past is the amount of money being paid out. Golf will still be played and exciting finishes will be mixed in with ho-hum Sundays as always. Hopefully, the number of exciting finishes will increase.

PGA Tour: Patton Kizzire wins FedExCup Fall opener with five-shot victory at Procore Championship

Patton Kizzire completed his third PGA Tour title and first since the 2018 Sony Open in Hawaii; Kizzire secures his playing card for the next two years after his five-shot victory in California; David Lipsky finished second after a one-under 71

Patton Kizzire secured his first PGA Tour title since 2018 after completing an impressive five-shot victory at the Procore Championship, the opening event of the FedExCup Fall.

Kizzire mixed an eagle with three birdies and three bogeys during a two-under 70 on the final day at Silverado Country Club, seeing the American end on 20 under and comfortably ahead of closest challenger David Lipsky.

The 38-year-old came into the event outside of the top-125 in the FedExCup standings but has now secured his PGA Tour card for the next two years, with the win ending 176 events without a victory since his previous success at the 2018 Sony Open in Hawaii.

"I'm going to enjoy this win," Kizzire said. "It's just so sweet to get through the ups and downs. That's life. You just got to stay positive. That's what led me to here, to right now."

Kizzire had started the final round four ahead but had seen his lead halved when Lipsky made birdies at the first and fourth, only for him to respond by holing a 50-foot chip at the par-five fifth to make an unlikely eagle.

Lipsky birdied the next but bogeyed his next two holes but found himself back within two when he picked up a shot at the 11th, where Kizzire had dropped a shot following an errant tee shot and after also bogeying the ninth.

Kizzire got up and down from the greenside bunker to birdie the par-five 12th and added another at the next, with his advantage increasing to five when he converted from 10 feet at the 15th, with a bogey at the 16th and two pars to finish closing out an impressive win.

Korn Ferry Tour

Ryan Gerard takes two-stroke lead into Sunday at Simmons Bank Open for the Snedeker Foundation

Daily Wrap Up

Change Text Size

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – During the two-week break between the first two Korn Ferry Tour Finals events, Ryan Gerard visited national parks with his mom. Now he’s parked atop the 54-hole leaderboard at the Simmons Bank Open for the Snedeker Foundation.

Gerard carded a third-round, 6-under 64 on a Saturday that featured intermittent rains at Vanderbilt Legends Club’s North Course outside Nashville, and his 18-under 192 is two strokes clear of Matt Atkins and Paul Peterson into the final round.

Gerard and Atkins will play in Sunday’s final pairing at the Simmons Bank Open, with twosomes running off No. 1 tee from 6:58 to 1 p.m. Central.

“This is the kind of grass I grew up on in North Carolina down the road,” Gerard said. “About six hours straight shot down I-40, you'll find this patchy Bermuda … I'm comfortable on it, played a lot on it and that's kind of helped.

“I feel like my iron shots have been fairly solid, but nothing too spectacular compared to normal. Just really hitting it good off the tee, managing it well.”

Gerard, who stands No. 13 on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List, has mathematically secured his 2025 PGA TOUR card via the top 30 on the season-long standings, which will be finalized after the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance in early October. The University of North Carolina alum played a mostly full 2023 PGA TOUR schedule on Special Temporary Membership, but he failed to equal No. 125 on the final FedExCup Fall standings and returned to the Korn Ferry Tour for 2024.

Gerard, 25, has thrived this season, with 10 top-25 finishes in 23 starts including a victory at the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD SYNNEX in early June. He finished T7 at the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Chevron, the Finals’ first leg, then visited Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park with his mom Judy. He relished the experience – including some moments just inches from a herd of buffalo – then returned to his adopted home region of south Florida for a swing lesson with Jason Baile. He attended good friend Bryson Nimmer’s wedding on Friday before arriving in Music City the following day.

That extra practice paid off. Gerard has recorded 17 birdies and an eagle this week, against just one bogey, to ascend into the leaderboard’s top spot at Vanderbilt Legends Club, a first-year Korn Ferry Tour venue. Although he’s #TOURBound for 2025, Gerard is motivated to climb the Korn Ferry Tour Points List and improve his position on the TOUR Priority Ranking – after spending ample time last season on alternate lists, he’s keenly aware of the Priority Ranking’s importance.

“Every start at the beginning of the year means so much just for that first reshuffle and just your chances for the rest of the year,” Gerard said. “Just having guaranteed starts in certain events and the more opportunities that you have to kind of put points on the board early in the season makes a big difference for the rest of your year and hopefully kind of climbing up that FedExCup points list for next year.”

In contrast to Gerard, the 33-year-old Atkins is fighting for his career across the Korn Ferry Tour Finals. Atkins, who climbed eight spots on the leaderboard with a third-round 61, entered the week at No. 103 on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List. The top 75 after next week’s Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship will be fully exempt on the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour, and Atkins would project to No. 51 with a two-way T2. A win would project him inside the top 30 for a TOUR card.

It's a lot on the line for the veteran pro, who was a TOUR rookie in 2018 and lost status after that season, but he’s grateful for the opportunity to continue pursuing his professional golf dreams. Atkins wasn’t sure he’d be able to continue after missing at PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry’s First Stage last fall, but sponsors came to his need. Atkins knew the results were close, and opening rounds of 70-63-61 at the Simmons Bank Open have validated that belief. It means Sunday could change his career, as well.

Things to know

  • Ryan Gerard secures a two-shot lead entering the final round, his second 54-hole lead of the season.
  • Gerard, No. 13 on the points list and already declared #TOURBound, is bidding for his second win this year.
  • Paul Peterson , who entered the day as the outright leader, sits two shots behind Gerard after a 3-under 67.
  • Matt Atkins (T2/-16) and Max McGreevy (T5/-14) tie for low round of the day with matching 9-under 61s.
  • Final-round pairings will tee off from 6:58 a.m. through 1 p.m. CT off the first tee.
  • Upon conclusion of this week’s Simmons Bank Open for the Snedeker Foundation, the top 120 players on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List will be eligible to compete in next week’s Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship, the third of four season-ending Korn Ferry Tour Finals events.

Additional third-round notes

  • Currently No. 13 on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List, Gerard secured #TOURBound status two weeks ago following his top-10 finish at the Albertsons Boise Open, guaranteeing him a spot inside the top 30 on the points list at season’s end to clinch 2025 PGA TOUR membership.
  • In 23 starts this season, Gerard has 10 top-25 finishes, including three top-10s, highlighted by his first career Korn Ferry Tour win at the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD SYNNEX.
  • Atkins, No. 103 on the points list, carded a bogey-free 9-under 61 via birdies at seven par-4s, one par-5 and one par-3.
  • In 13 Korn Ferry Tour starts this season, Atkins has three top-25 finishes, with his lone top-10 being a T10 at the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper.
  • Peterson, No. 51 on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List, has six top-25 finishes in 23 starts, including two top-10s.
  • Gonzalez has totaled five top-25 finishes in 22 starts this season, highlighted by a T8 finish at the Astara Golf Championship presented by Mastercard.
  • Cone currently sits 29th on the points list after posting five top-10 finishes in 21 starts this season.
  • McGreevy has seven top-10 finishes in 22 starts this season, including two wins (Memorial Health Championship presented by LRS and Magnit Championship).
  • With a win this week, McGreevy would earn the Three-Victory Promotion, granting him PGA TOUR eligibility for the 2024 FedExCup Fall events.
  • Doc Redman (T10/-12) and Jack Maguire (T10/-12) carded matching 8-under 62s in the third round and sit six shots behind the leader entering Sunday.
  • Morgan Hoffmann (T10/-12) opened the third round with four consecutive birdies and eventually finished with a 7-under 63, his lowest round of the season.
  • Hoffmann sits 136th on the points list and needs to climb inside the top 120 to be eligible for next week’s event (Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship).
