The Feelers announce Reimagined - Greatest Hits New Zealand summer tour

The Feelers are preparing to hit the road this summer with a brand-new live show.

The Feelers are hitting the road and coming your way with an array of New Zealand shows just in time for Kiwi summer - and it’s As Good As It Gets.

Formed in Christchurch in 1993, The Feelers catapulted to fame a few years later after their first album, Supersystem , nabbed the number-one spot in New Zealand in 1998.

With 30 years under their belt, as well as five Aotearoa NZ Music Awards and three Apra Most Played Song of the Year awards, they’ve become an iconic New Zealand playlist-topper and favourites among many a Kiwi rock enthusiast.

Now, the boys are coming back for a summer of Larger than Life shows.

Hot on the heels of the band’s latest album, Reimagined - Greatest Hits , the boys are touring over the summer season with a brand-new live concert, heaps of New Zealand locations and their good friends Capital Theatre in tow.

The Feelers will be traversing all around Aotearoa, from scenic summer spots such as Paihia to South Island gems like Invercargill - and all the places in between.

Kicking off the tour in Napier on December 30 and wrapping up in Hamilton on February 2, the band is bringing their epic setlist of classic hits to eager ears across New Zealand - with a few surprises to keep fans on their toes.

The cross-country jaunt will see James Reid on vocals and guitar, Hamish Gee on drums, Andy Lynch on guitar and Clint Harris on bass, and, of course, will include that distinctive sound we’ve come to know, love and rock to. New to the band line-up is keyboardist Andy ‘Keys’ Cochrane, who brings with him an exploration of some newly arranged songs in support of the latest album.

Absolutely psyched to be back on the road come summer, Gee enthuses: “I’m really looking forward to touring this album and venturing into a number of towns and venues not played before, as well as our favourite summer venues, of course! I’m also looking forward to connecting to the fans during our VIP sessions.”

For the first time ever, The Feelers are releasing VIP tickets which will enable die-hard fans to get even closer to the band, as well as general access tickets for all their Kiwi followers to get down, have a boogie and share in that Beautiful Feeling this summer.

Tickets for all shows go on sale at 7am on Thursday, August 10 .

Pink cancels tour stop due to health concerns. Is her Columbus show still happening?

Pink's Summer Carnival Tour is coming to Columbus in October , but recent health concerns raise uncertainty surrounding the singer's remaining tour dates.

The Grammy award-winning singer and songwriter announced Tuesday that she had to cancel her July 3 tour stop in Bern, Switzerland due to health issues. Without going into specifics, the artist explained that "after consultation with my doctor and exploring all options available, I’ve been advised that I’m unable to continue with the show tomorrow," she wrote in an Instagram post. Tickets for the show will be refunded and no future dates have been announced.

Concert canceled: Pink's undisclosed health issue and the need for medical privacy

Last summer Ohio fans saw Pink perform at the Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati , and now we're just a few short months away from her Oct. 9 performance at the Schottenstein Center. While no official announcement of future cancellations has been made, it remains unclear whether the show will go on.

Is Pink's Columbus concert still happening?

The pop star many have hit pause on one of her European stops, but her Columbus show appears to still be part of her 2024 Summer Carnival Tour lineup. It's not the first time she's had to cancel a performance on this tour. Last year, the singer postponed multiple tour dates in Tacoma, Washington and Vancouver due to health issues like a respiratory infection and family medical issues, as reported by People . Tickets for the Columbus show are available for purchase on Ticketmaster , with VIP packages starting around $500.

What is the Pink Summer Carnival 2024 concert like?

Her Summer Carnival shows can be described as whimsical, over the top, and memorable. Her 2023 Cincy show embodied the essence of a carnival , as she was suspended about 100 feet in the air donning festive and bright colors, and of course, pink. Her classic hits like "Raise Your Glass," "Try" and "Never Gonna Not Dance Again," were among the songs she performed.

The tour is deemed a massive success, having grossed a more than $250 million since it began, according to Billboard .

Pink's Summer Carnival setlist:

  • "Get the Party Started
  • "Raise Your Glass"
  • "Just Like a Pill"
  • "What About Us"
  • "Turbulence"
  • "Make You Feel My Love" (Bob Dylan cover)
  • "Just Give Me a Reason"
  • "F----- Perfect"
  • "Just Like Fire"
  • "Please Don't Leave Me"
  • "Cover Me in Sunshine"
  • "Kids in Love"
  • "When I Get There"
  • "I Am Here"
  • "Irrelevant"
  • "No Ordinary Love" (Sade cover)
  • "Trustfall"
  • "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)"
  • "Never Gonna Not Dance Again"
  • "Last Call"

Waka flocka tells concert fans to leave if they are joe biden voters, waka flocka tells joe biden supporters .... get the hell out of here.

Waka Flocka has a stern message for all of his fans ... Stay the hell away from his concerts if you're a Joe Biden supporter!!!

The Grammy-nominated rapper made that point abundantly clear during his Monday performance onstage at Club Sky in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Waka stopped in the middle of his set to address the packed crowd about the 46th president of the United States and potential 2024 democratic nominee for the White House.

Check out the video ... With his mic in hand, Waka announced, "All Joe Biden voters, get out of my concert. We're gonna party right now for T24" -- which was an apparent reference to Donald Trump 's run for the presidency. Some in the audience raised their arms and cheered while others didn't react at all.

A few people on social media criticized Waka for his political statement. One user on X wrote, "As much as I don't like Joe Biden this was wrong they paid money for a show like everyone else and while performing a show they should keep politics out of it."

Another person said, "This is wrong to be honest everyone is entitled to vote who they want."

Waka might have been trying to kick Biden while he's down. As everyone knows, Trump mopped the floor with Biden during last week's presidential debate and Joe's been struggling to get back up on his feet ever since.

Meanwhile ... it's no secret Waka is a Trump devotee. He has endorsed Trump's 2024 White House bid and has posed for pictures with the prospective Republican nominee.

Breaking news, sharks in long island waters the ‘new norm’ after uptick in bites last summer.

These days, summer in New York means fun in the sun — and blood in the water.

There were 13 reports of shark bites recorded on Long Island in just the past two years, a disturbing trend experts say is here to stay even with New Yorker’s 1 in 4 million chance of getting nibbled on by a sea predator.

“It’s a new norm that people are familiar with now — shark interaction occurring on the beaches here on Long Island specifically,” Frank Quevedo, an environmental scientist and executive director of the South Fork Natural History Museum, told The Post.

A great white shark baited by the animal guide, Andre Hartmann, surfaces with an impressive open mouth on December 02, 2007

So far this summer, no shark encounters have been reported — though Quevedo warned: “There will be.”

Here’s a look at what to know before diving into the shark’s den:

Rise in bites

Last July, five swimmers were bitten in the waters off South Shore beaches within a single week, a worrisome pace that was on par to shatter the record eight attacks set the year prior.

The gory streak marked a significant uptick in shark encounters in New York waters, which totaled just 24 reported unprovoked attacks since 1937 , according to International Shark Attack File data.

Nearly one-quarter of those incidents occurred in the past 15 years.

People cool off at the beach on June 23, 2024 in Coney Island

In every instance, however, the purported victims walked away with their ghastly injuries — including a 65-year-old grandmother who lost 20 pounds of flesh when she was chomped at Rockaway Beach last summer — which experts say should serve as proof that the apex predators were not looking to make a meal of the people they sunk their teeth into.

That’s why experts like Quevedo, who runs SOFO’s shark education program, purposefully refrain from calling the baker’s dozens of Long Island shark bites in 2022 and 2023 “attacks,” instead calling them encounters.

The term “attacks” is reserved for instances when the apex predators set their sights on man as a food source, which is extremely rare, but not unheard of.

In photos obtained by the Post, Tatyana Koltunyuk is treated by emergency personnel after she was bitten by a shark on Rockaway Beach Monday, Aug. 7, 2023.

What’s causing the rise in encounters?

There are a plethora of factors that have contributed to the rise in shark-related incidents over the last few years, but the most significant is the boom in Atlantic menhaden populations, Quevedo said. More commonly known as bunker fish, the herring is a favorite snack among sharks, whales, dolphins and other marine predators.

Bunker fish have flourished since New York lawmakers in 2019 outlawed capturing the fish using a drawstring-bag-like fishing net , a move the state made to restore the species after significant overfishing nearly destroyed the population in 2011.

A school of Menhaden fish thrash in a net before being loaded into the refrigeration compartments of the 'Reedville' off the coast of Smith Island, Virginia on June 22, 2015.

Sharks chase the fish into shallow waters to trap their prey, which notoriously swims in giant crowds called “bait balls,” which is when accidental encounters with humans become a bigger risk.

According to Hans Walters, the Curator of Animals at the Wildlife Conservation Society’s New York Aquarium, most Long Island shark victims swam into the “crossfire” of a man versus bunker fish chow down.

“I’ve watched these animals feed, and I think they’re direct — they know what they want. They swim into a school of menhaden with their mouths open, thrash their head back and forth, somebody swims past and gets tagged and, you know, the shark misses a meal, loses a few teeth, the person goes to the hospital. So nobody wins, everybody loses. And it’s a tragedy,” Walters, who closely works at the aquarium’s “Ocean Wonders: Sharks!” exhibit.

Frank Quevedo and Sylvia Earle attend the SOFO's 33rd Annual Gala at the South Fork Natural History Museum on August 6, 2022 in Bridgehampton, New York.

“It’s not like every time you go into the water, there’s something waiting to take a chunk out of you.”

A common misconception, he continued, is that sharks mistake human limbs for fish.

Warmer temperatures also are driving sharks closer to shore, which could explain why the rash of shark attacks last year occurred during a metro heat wave.

That rise in temperatures also means more humans are getting the water, which in itself increases the chance of encountering a big fish that is already swimming through the waves.

“Anyone who has gone into the ocean has swum with sharks. They just may not know it, but they have,” Walters said.

“He’s there. That’s where he lives.”

Hans Walters on a boat.

Types of sharks

The types of sharks that frequent New York waters are typically nonaggressive species that are only hunting after smaller fish. Atlantic Menhaden, for example, grows to be roughly 15 inches in length.

While white sharks, hammerheads and thresher sharks are more commonly known, smooth dogfish sharks are the most popular sharks in the New York/New Jersey Bight Apex — the waters from Fire Island to the Manasquan Inlet in New Jersey. That alone could do wonders to quell concerned swimmer’s fears: the five-foot-long fish has blunt teeth that can’t break the skin.

a smooth dogfish swims in a tank.

There’s also a nursery of baby whites and sand tiger sharks in the Great South Bay, though a nip from a pup would not likely cause any significant damage — and one might not even register it as a shark bite.

The big and bad sharks are off chasing seals in colder waters by the time New York summer rolls around, meaning Cape Cod vacationers have much more to worry about than those romping in Rockaway.

How to avoid becoming shark bait

While it sounds easier said than done, shark experts maintain that the best way to avoid falling victim to a shark attack is by being aware of one’s surroundings.

Because most shark encounters occur as collateral damage from a feeding frenzy, both Quevedo and Walters suggest getting out of the water upon noticing a sudden increase in marine life or dark shadows moving on the floor.

“If you’re sitting at the beach, and you look out and you can see the ocean being disturbed — and I’m not talking about wind blowing and causing a little bit of chop, I’m not talking about ripples on the shore. It’s fish right at the surface,” said Walters.

A sign warning against sharks at Jones Beach.

Those fish are being hunted from below, he continued, whether it be from a whale, dolphin or shark. Oftentimes, waterfowl will get in on the action by diving below and trying to swipe a cornered fish.

Lifeguards across the South Shore have also recently utilized drone technology to track shark movements , which is an added bonus for swimmers looking for an extra layer of protection.

Most importantly, shark experts urge bathers to properly educate themselves on the beauty of the ocean and how sharks are a major contributor. That means avoiding the sensationalism that “Shark Week” brings.

“That’s why everybody’s freaked,” Walters said, “That’s the first problem.”

Travis Kelce gave girlfriend Taylor Swift a sweet kiss after making a surprise appearance at her Eras Tour show in Amsterdam on Friday.

After the Kansas City Chiefs star watched the Grammy winner’s concert at Johan Cruijff Arena, the couple came out from behind the stage holding hands .

Swift and Kelce, both 34, waved at fans in the crowd as they made their way to an exit.

At one point, the singer even put her hands on the football player’s waist to move him along.

They then put their arms around each other before Kelce gave Swift a tender smooch on the head.

The songstress was in a sparkly blue minidress and matching boots, while the athlete sported a white graphic hoodie with matching shorts, sneakers and a baseball cap.

Kelce has been back and forth from the US to Europe as Swift continues the international leg of her record-breaking tour.

On Sunday, he rushed off a plane to her third show at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland, after attending his teammate Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s wedding in California one night prior.

Fans caught the moment Swift’s eyes lit up when she saw her beau in the crowd , as many assumed he had “surprised” her.

Kelce also spent time with the pop star in London when she performed back-to-back shows at Wembley Stadium from June 21-23.

For one of the concerts, the tight end even joined the singer on stage for her “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” transition skit.

The skit saw Kelce, who wore a suit and top hat, pick Swift up from the ground after she pretended to faint as he and two other backup dancers helped her prepare for her next track.

On Wednesday’s episode of his “New Heights” podcast, the NFL star gushed over the surprise performance , admitting that he was nervous.

“I was up there with three professionals. You can do no wrong with Taylor on stage. [I kept telling myself], ‘Do not drop the baby. Hold onto the baby,'” he said.

Kelce explained it was originally his idea for Swift to bring him up on stage, though he first proposed a grand entrance of him on a bike during the “1989” era.

“She found the perfect part of the show to put me in,” he added. “It was, like, the safest option.”

The podcaster — who has been dating Swift for nearly a year — also teased that he could very well be  joining her for another onstage  cameo in the near future.

Def Leppard pumped for summer tour with Journey: 'Why would you want to retire?'

the feelers summer tour

Def Leppard has been shredding stages for more than 40 years, but the band’s hunger to electrify fans keeps escalating.

The quintet of Joe Elliott (vocals), Rick Allen (drums), Phil Collen (guitar), Vivian Campbell (guitar) and Rick Savage (bass) is readying its third consecutive summer stadium tour for a July 6 liftoff in St. Louis.

A reliable group of rock rousers, Def Leppard always brings a set list stocked with their crunchy melodic anthems spanning 12 studio albums – “Photograph,” “Let’s Get Rocked,” “Foolin’” and “Armageddon It” a mere sampling – as well as recent fare.

The giddy rocker “Kick,” from their 2022 album “Diamond Star Halos,” has nestled into the live show, and this round of dates will also offer “Just Like 73,” their recently released stomper dusted with shades of Gary Glitter and Slade.

Collen knows that Def Leppard’s set list, as well as its production and staging, needs to continually advance for the veteran band to maintain its relevancy and points to two of music’s stratospheric stars as motivation.

“When you see Taylor Swift or Beyoncé in concert, it’s bringing it to another level,” Collen says. “For us, it’s always been about someone raising the bar and us pushing past it.”

The cheerful, oft-shirtless guitarist chatted a few weeks out from the band’s 23-date co-headlining tour with Journey about staying healthy on tour and his pre-show rituals.

The Steve Miller Band and Cheap Trick join the bill on varying dates ; Heart was tapped for three shows, but after Ann Wilson’s cancer diagnosis , Cheap Trick will open July 30 and Aug. 2 and Steve Miller Band Aug. 5.

Is this the Summer of Rock? How tours from Creed, Def Leppard, others are igniting fans

Question: You’ve toured with Journey before as well as Motley Crue and KISS, and keep filling stadiums summer after summer. Why do you think people are still coming?

Answer: We really put everything into it. Paul Stanley (of KISS) and I gave each other classic Ibanez guitars and had them in the same room and played each other’s. His is covered in blood. He would get cut (playing) all the time and it’s still there. You put everything into a performance. You sweat and bleed. It’s not going through the motions. I’m 66 and I still go, "Is this the year I’m not going to be able to stand up?" But as long as you put the energy into it … it’s one reason I do martial arts and weight training.

How do you and the guys come up with ways to freshen the production? Do you look to other classic tours or artists for inspiration?

I’m so inspired by Mick Jagger . He’s 80 and dancing around. He’s sharp as a razor blade as well. Talking about Taylor Swift, she works so hard. Regardless of whatever anyone thinks about her, do a day in those shoes and tell me how you feel.

Has it become more challenging to find other bands to go out with you as the other headliner?

It has. Rock is aging out , dying out. Look at all the people we’ve lost the past 10 years. There is no one new replacing them. The last person with that amazing rock-star image was probably Billy Idol in the ‘80s. I’m still waiting for someone with some integrity doing their own thing and doing stuff that we all like.

You’ve been out with Journey before, but have you had any musical interactions with Steve Miller before this tour?

We haven’t toured with Steve and I haven’t met him. I saw him at the Hammersmith Odeon (in London, now the Eventim Apollo) in 1980. And Journey, despite whatever they get up to internally , we get on famously.

Do you ever get tired of being on the road?

It’s a no-brainer to be out there. You’ve written the songs – the hard part – because as inspiring as it is writing songs and recording and finding the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle, once it all comes together, the easy part is going on tour.

Inside the first shows: The Sphere in Las Vegas really is a 'quantum leap' for live music

At this point, you’re probably more comfortable touring than not.

We’re like spoiled children. You’ve also got the arrested development part where you are like children in your 60s. And we all know each other’s strengths and weaknesses and how to get someone to react. Joe the other day , he brought me to tears with laughter. I can’t even imagine being in a band not like that. It’s all really fun and love and everything. Why would you want to retire?

Fitness has obviously always been a huge part of your life. Has age played a factor in how your workouts may have changed over the years?

Yeah, you just have to be careful with your body. You don’t have to prove anything to the guy next to you in the gym. I research everything and we have an amazing trainer who tours with us.

What is your pre-show ritual?

The warm-ups, the vocal exercises, that’s a given. That starts pretty much two or three hours before the show. Joe is warmed up about eight hours before a show. I’ll do a few push-ups – they're always good to get the blood flowing.

Governor Cooper Joins US Department of Transportation Secretary Buttigieg in Winston-Salem, Greensboro and Durham to Tour Construction Projects and Transportation Investments

Today, Governor Roy Cooper joined US Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for multiple stops during the first state trip of the Secretary’s national summer construction tour. The Governor and Secretary Buttigieg attended the groundbreaking of the Salem Parkway Multi-Use Trail in Winston-Salem, visited North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University’s Transportation Institute in Greensboro and joined a walking tour in Durham on Holloway Street of projects funded by the federal RAISE grant.

The Governor and Secretary Buttigieg were joined by Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines, Durham Mayor Leonardo Williams and other officials as they highlighted infrastructure projects and federal investments across the state.

“Infrastructure initiatives are underway across North Carolina thanks to collaboration among local, state and federal partners,” said Governor Cooper. “These projects make our roads, highways, parks and cities safer and improve the lives of people in every corner of our state.”

The Salem Parkway Multi-Use Trail is a 1.3 mile urban trail that will link Truist Stadium, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist hospital and downtown businesses to the Winston-Salem Strollway, downtown commercial districts and a number of residential neighborhoods. Today’s groundbreaking marks the start of Phase 1 of the $2.9 project, which is funded by Federal Transportation Alternatives and Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) Program funds.

The North Carolina A&T Transportation Institute is a research, training, and technology transfer unit housed in the Willie A. Deese College of Business and Economics. During the visit, Governor Cooper and Secretary Buttigieg spoke with student about their research projects, toured the rural test track and watched a drone demonstration. NCDOT is partnering with NCA&T to conduct research on autonomous vehicles to prepare for the future of transportation.

The City of Durham was awarded $12 million through the federal RAISE grant to increase safety along Holloway Street. The initiative will help improve intersections, close sidewalk gaps and upgrade bus stops and more.

The Biden-Harris Administration’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is making an historic investment of over $415 billion to improve the nation’s roads, bridges, rail, public transit and its ports and airports. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is bringing $9.3 billion in funding for over 439 projects to North Carolina.
