You could see a mall, shop or restaurant in almost every corner of Causeway Bay. There are so many of them that a day may not be enough to explore all of them. If you have limited time, you may only be able to visit a few of them. So let’s explore some of the most popular shopping areas.

1. Times Square

Times Square Hong Kong is a shopping paradise and a magnet for tourists. As the district’s largest shopping mall, it houses over 230 stores offering a wide range of products. The mall also has Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Western restaurants, making it a gastronomic delight. On top of that, there are always happening exhibitions that can be fun to visit, especially with your friends or family. Times Square is easily accessible as it’s directly connected to the MTR Causeway Bay Station.

2. SOGO Department Store

If you love Japanese foods, be sure to visit SOGO Department Store’s, Hong Kong’s largest Japanese-style department store. In their basement is a spacious supermarket and eatery area that sell all kinds of Japanese and Asian foods and desserts. Other than that, you can find skincare, cosmetics, jewelry, and more in the department store.

3. Jardine Crescent Market

For a more traditional feel of Hong Kong, head to Jardine’s Crescent Market. The market is just a short walk south from south of SOGO. There, you can find local goods like accessories and clothes at bargain prices. Keep in mind that most of them are fixed-price, though you may be able to bargain with a few of the sellers.

4. Petty Person Beating

Ever felt like venting your frustrations at your boss or coworkers? In Causeway Bay, there’s a unique tradition for that – the Petty Person Beating or Bowrington Villain Hitting. Here, elderly women perform a ritual to drive away ill luck and attract good fortune by beating a piece of paper (representing the person causing your troubles) with an old shoe. Just provide them with the name and reasons, and watch your worries get beaten away. To go there, walk northwest from Times Square to the junction of Canal Road West and Hennessy Road under the flyover.

5. Ding Ding Tram

After you’re done with the villain hitting, you can go to the nearby Canal Road West tram station to ride The Ding Ding Tram. It is a moving monument and unique to Hong Kong Island. For just HK$3.00, you can hop on the double-deck trams. The tram’s slow pace is perfect for sightseeing and capturing photos, especially from the top deck. You can ride the tram to another area like Central or move around Causeway Bay.

6. Tin Hau Temple

If you ride the tram, you can stop at Lau Sin Street tram station (Or Tin Hau Station if you ride the MTR) to go to Tin Hau Temple. It is a declared monument that is dedicated to Tin Hau, the Goddess of the Sea. You can also find Bao Kung (Judge Bao) and the God of Wealth in the main halls.

7. Jardine Noonday Gun

Another unique thing that you can only find in Causeway Bay is the Jardine Noonday Gun. Since 1860, a guard from Jardine Matheson has fired this gun precisely at midday. Located at the waterfront of Gloucester Road it’s reachable by crossing a pedestrian bridge from Victoria Park or heading north from Times Square Mall.

8. Happy Valley Racecourse & Museum

Experience the thrill of horse racing at the Happy Valley Racecourse. Currently, the races are held every Wednesday night. You can also find the Hong Kong Racing Museum there to get a glimpse into the city’s horse racing history, race bonuses and famous racing horses and riders.

Eat Noodles, Dim Sum, & Hotpot

After a day of shopping and sightseeing, it’s time to treat yourself to the culinary delights of Causeway Bay.

9. Sister Wah

Sister Wah, first opened in 2003, is a local delight that you can only find in Causeway Bay at the moment. This Michelin-recommended eatery is renowned for its beef brisket noodles served in a clear soup. Other popular dishes include Dan Dan noodles and drunken chicken, and they are relatively affordable for its quality. However, there are only six tables there, so be prepared to queue early. The restaurant is located near Tin Hau MTR Station.

10. Din Tai Fung

For a taste of Taiwan, look no further than Din Tai Fung. This Michelin-recommended restaurant is famous for its xiao long bao (soup dumplings) that burst with flavor at every bite. Although a bit pricier, the expansive menu ensures everyone finds something to their liking. There are steamed shrimp, spicy vegetables, pork wontons and more. Currently, this is the only Din Tai Fung branch in Hong Kong Island (the other is in Tsim Sha Tsui, Tuen Mun, and Sha Tin), so be sure not to miss it.

11. Haidilao Hot Pot

If you’re looking for a more fun dining experience, head to Haidilao Hot Pot at Lee Theatre. You can see noodle performances and birthday celebrations or have yours celebrated. The restaurant offers various hot pot soup bases like tomato, mushroom, and chili. The staff are known for their politeness and friendly service as well. Similar to Din Tai Fung, this is their only branch in Hong Kong Island.

Stroll at the Harbour & Hong Kong Island’s Largest Park

While Causeway Bay is famed for its bustling shopping district, you can also take a break in the city’s harbor and lush park.

12. East Coast Park Precinct, Fortress Hill

East Coast Park Precinct is a pet-friendly public space where you can have a unique panoramic view of Victoria Harbour. The park’s distinctive feature is the uniquely shaped CWB East Vent Shaft, which is a large-scale art installation. To reach the park, head to Fortress Hill MTR Station and walk west towards the harbour.

13. Victoria Park

Victoria Park is the largest park on Hong Kong Island. Here, lush greenery, ample seating areas, and sports facilities provide a needed break from the city’s hustle and bustle. You can listen to the birds chirping while admiring the plants or do a bit of exercise.

There’s also a pedestrian bridge in the northwest area where you can cross to the Revitalised Typhoon Shelter Precinct. From there, you can walk to Jardine Noonday Gun as well.

Chill at the Library & Bookstores

If you’re a bookworm, you should like Causeway Bay as it’s home to some of the city’s best libraries and bookstores.

14. Hong Kong Central Library

Just south of Victoria Park is the Hong Kong Central Library, the largest public library in the city. The library has 10 floors with its own theme. There are internet connections, chargers, and water fountains, which are great if you need to cool down for a while. Another things you can do is to head to the upper floors to get a great view of Victoria Harbour.

If you’re traveling with kids aged 8 or below, you can also visit the Toy Library, a spacious read-and-play area on the second floor. Just remember to reserve a spot either in person or four days before your visit.

15. Eslite Bookstore at Hysan Place

This Taiwanese bookstore once earned the title of “World’s Coolest Bookstore” by CNN, and it’s not hard to see why. Spread across three stories in the Hysan Place shopping mall, it offers a vast selection of international books that cater to all tastes.

What's Causeway Bay known for? CWB is a renowned shopping hub that offers everything from fashion, food, to lifestyle goods.

How do I get to Causeway Bay? Causeway Bay offers excellent connectivity to the rest of Hong Kong and is easily walkable due to its compact size and mostly flat land. The best way to reach the district is by the Island Line train, between Wan Chai and Tin Hau stations, as the station connects to malls and various landmarks. It also enjoys connectivity through Hong Kong Island's double-decker tram system.

Causeway Bay is a shopper's dream, but surprises are tucked away in alleys and high floors. From Michelin-starred spots to Japanese izakayas, cosy late-night eateries and street food, you'll never go hungry in CWB.

Slurp on delightful noodles at Ho Hung Kee , which first opened on Hennessy Road in 1946, but is now situated in Hysan Place. The venue is known for its excellent noodles and creamy congee, earning it a Michelin star. Walk a few steps to Jardine's Crescent to discover Liao Za Lie , a casual eatery specialising in Shaanxi-style cuisine. Order crispy rou jia mo, fiery stir-fries, and shared dishes like Sichuan fish and biangbiang noodles. For a retro-themed hot pot experience featuring over 20 delectable soup bases, head to Lau Haa Hotpot Restaurant , an ideal choice to satisfy your warming hot pot cravings. 

Causeway Bay doesn't typically come to mind for drinking and nightlife, but it's full of watering holes where you can enjoy excellent craft beers, creative cocktails, stunning views, and LGBTQ-friendly hotspots . 

Head up to Skye , a futuristic rooftop bar at The Parklane Hotel, to enjoy unobstructed harbour views and indulge in Instagrammable zodiac-themed cocktails or stick to the curated selection of wines if you prefer less sweet options. 

CWB is home to numerous shopping malls like Times Square , Sogo , Hysan Place , Lee Garden , and the newly renovated World Trade Centre , you can find familiar luxury brands like Chanel, Chloe, Alexander Mcqueen, Salvatore Ferragamo, for bags, apparels, designer brands, and cosmetics. The area also offers fast fashion like H&M and Zara.

While the district may not be known for peace and quiet, Victoria Park serves as a soothing oasis. It offers diverse activities, including jogging, swimming, and serene relaxation. The park transforms into a lively night market for Chinese New Year and a glowing lantern spectacle for the Mid-Autumn Festival. Locals and visitors can also visit the city's largest public library, the Central Library , which features the most comprehensive collection of literary and academic texts in Hong Kong and boasts an impressive 2.3 million books.

One thing that every guide to Causeway Bay will tell you is that it’s a shopping mall haven. There’s Times Square, Lee Gardens, Sogo, Fashion Walk, Hysan Place, and even more! You can find almost every designer store you can think of here. Affordable fashion is also available at these shopping malls, with Uniqlo, Cotton On, and an array of indie labels scattered around. Any bibliophiles in the house? Hysan Place has a huge bookstore , Eslite, that sells Chinese and English books. You can easily spend a full day mall-hopping in Causeway Bay.

11. Film camera shops

Did you know that there are still stores catering to film cameras nowadays? In fact, CWB has several dedicated film camera shops that are worth a visit. The Causeway Bay branch of Showa Film & Camera sells loads of used analogue cameras, film, and even offers developing services. Meteor HK on the other hand, while not offering development, has a collection of high-end cameras and lenses that are a great investment. Whether you’re just starting to dabble with film photography or a seasoned snapper looking for more equipment, a trip to these film camera stores is definitely worth it.

13. get your nails done.

Looking to pamper yourself after a busy day running around Causeway Bay? You can get a nice manicure (and pedicure) at one of the nail salons in the neighbourhood. Tinted is a place you should definitely check out for a mani-pedi that will last. You can get some snazzy nail art as well to complement any new goodies you’ve bought. 15. Make some animal friends

A quirky aspect of Causeway Bay is the amount of pet cafes located in the neighbourhood. You can make some animal friends over a cup of coffee and some treats. Mame and Shiba Cafe has oodles of shibas waiting to be cuddled, whereas Rabbitland Cafe is home to some hopping pals and smaller furry buddies. Are you a cat person? Causeway Bay, also called Tung Lo Wan by the local people, is located on the north shore of Hong Kong Island.

This is one of the busiest regions in Hong Kong, with lots of shopping malls and entertainment venues. Besides shopping, visitors can also find some interesting activities to do or try to eat like the locals.

Causeway Bay is a wonderful place to spend one day or more. Here, we have listed some activities that are also liked by the locals.

1. Ride on the "Ding Ding" Tram

The "Ding Ding" is a unique double-decker tram in Hong Kong, officially called Hong Kong Tramways. It got its name from the "ding-ding" sound it makes when the driver steps on the brake. This transportation vehicle has a history of over 100 years and it can only be found in Hong Kong.

The rail tracks for the tram span from east to west across the northern shore of Hong Kong Island. Causeway Bay is one of the stops.

The "Ding Ding" tram seemingly drives you back through the history of Hong Kong at a slow speed. You have plenty of time on the tram to appreciate the old streets and bustling avenues of Hong Kong. This is a good way to get a taste of the most original flavors of Hong Kong from the past century.

Happy Valley Racecourse is located 1 kilometer south of the Causeway Bay Centre Shopping Arcade. This was the first racecourse in Hong Kong with its first race held in December 1846. At present, the racing season is from September to June, and the races are held every Wednesday night.

The Hong Kong Racing Museum is on the second floor of the racecourse. The museum has eight exhibition halls and a movie theater, displaying Hong Kong's horse racing history and interesting data about race bonuses and famous racing horses and riders. 6. Watch a Tennis Match in Victoria Park

Tai Hang is located about 2 kilometers southeast of Causeway Bay. If you visit Tai Hang during the Mid-Autumn Festival, you can enjoy watching a great performance of the Fire Dragon Dance.

A fire dragon is a Chinese dragon made of hemp rope that is then inserted with smoldering joss sticks. A fire dragon is 67 meters long and the head can weigh over 70 kilograms. More than 300 local villagers will perform the dance every night during the 3-day festival, and the performance will use about 24,000 joss sticks per night.

9. Listen to the Jardine Noonday Gun

Near the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter, there is a blue gun mounted in an enclosed area. Every day at noon, the gun fires one shot, announcing the end of the morning session.

10. "Beat the Petty Person"

If a local person finds that everything is going wrong for them or they are annoyed by a petty person, they will visit a "professional beater" under the bridge that is located at the junction of Hennessy Road and Canal Road.

The "professional beaters" are generally old ladies. They will light red candles, prepare a paper tiger, and beat the paper-made "petty person" with their shoes. People believe this superstitious activity is a good way to drive away evil matters and bring good luck.

You will not consider this to be strange if you are a hardcore fan of Hong Kong movies and dramas. This is an interesting custom to watch.

11. Ride the Star Ferry to Tsim Sha Tsui

Like the "Ding Ding" tram, the Star Ferry has been a historical form of transport for over 100 years and forms part of the local people's memories. Today, this is still a popular and widely praised experience in Hong Kong.
