Destinations in australia, new zealand.

When travelling in New Zealand, it’s the rugged natural beauty that stands out: spectacular glaciers, picturesque fiords, endless coastlines, steamy geothermal activity and so much more. Its breathtaking landscapes combined with its unique Maori culture, friendly cosmopolitan cities and fabulous food and wine comprise the two remarkable islands the “Kiwis” lovingly call home. New Zealand, a haven for those seeking peace, rejuvenation and relaxation, also offers a veritable playground for the adventurous. The temperate climate makes it ideal for year-round New Zealand adventures.

G’day, every day, Australia! Beaches to “barbies,” koalas to wallabies, Outback to ocean…where to begin your Australia tour on this island-country-continent? Travel in Australia and you'll find unique wildlife and dramatic landscapes, no doubt. Or perhaps the sun-kissed Harbour City of Sydney, Melbourne’s art scene or Barossa Valley’s world-class wineries. Go as far back as Aboriginal life in places like Ayers Rock and Alice Springs to discover how to survive in the bush, throw boomerangs and play a didgeridoo. Whatever your fancy, Australia welcomes you.

For hundreds of years Fiji has attracted dreamers, adventurers, outdoorsmen, romantics and anyone else looking for paradise. This archipelago is made up of some 330 islands, about a third of them inhabited. There are two main islands: Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. In 1643, Abel Tasman, a Dutch explorer, was the first European to catch a glimpse of the islands. The British colonized Fiji in 1874. Even before gaining independence in 1970, it became the ultimate vacation destination, due to its beautiful surroundings and warm year-round temperatures. Fiji travel may seem far away, but it’s the perfect addition to your Australia and New Zealand adventure.

Welcome to Australia & New Zealand

The lands "down under" provide a true symphony of wonders that blend the prehistoric landscapes and wondrously weird wildlife of Australia with the staggering scenery and rich Maori traditions of New Zealand.  Discover all that these regions have to show us... strange egg-laying mammals and endearing marsupials... cosmopolitan coastal cities and tropical rainforests... glacier-hewn fjords and dramatic canyons best explored by jet-boat.

Queenstown, new zealand, an invitation to outdoor adventure in queenstown on new zealand's lush south island.

Queenstown, set amidst gorgeous landscapes on New Zealand's South Island, is a resort city known for its many opportunities for for outdoor adventure… from jet boat excursions racing through rapids on the Shotover River, to helicopter rides to the top of Bob's Peak, riding the Skyline gondola, watersports on Lake Wakatipu and much more.

Uluru (Ayers Rock) in the Outback

Aboriginal traditions and a natural wonder at uluru (ayers rock) in australia's "red centre".

Uluru (also known as Ayers Rock) is a massive red sandstone monolith rising dramatically out of the desert Outback (or "Red Centre") in Australia's Northern Territory, and is one of the country's most recognizable features and popular attractions. Sacred to the Pitjantjatjara Anangu, the local Aboriginal people of the region, Uluru is geologically classified as an inselberg (an "island mountain"); a UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of Australia's Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, it's a natural wonder that will take your breath away…

Sydney Harbour and Sydney Opera House

Iconic sights on sydney harbour.

With its iconic skyline comprising some of the 20th century's most innovative architecture, Australia's Sydney Harbour is perhaps the most recognizable urban waterfront on Earth. Two of the Harbour's most remarkable "residents" include the striking Sydney Harbour Bridge – the world's tallest steel arch bridge, opened in 1932 and dubbed "The Coathanger" by locals due to its shape – and the Sydney Opera House, one of the world's most distinctive buildings since its completion in 1973 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Fiordland National Park, New Zealand

The breaktaking beauty of new zealand's fiordland national park.

Whether you explore it by land or by sea, it's hard to beat the breathtaking scenery of Fiordland National Park, the largest of New Zealand's 14 national parks, comprising the South Island's southwestern corner and covered in part by the Southern Alps. The national park is dominated by mountain peaks and many deep, glacier-carved fiords, the largest and most famous of which is Milford Sound; cruising its glacier-hewn inlets and sheer cliffs is a truly memorable experience.

Art Deco Napier, New Zealand

Architectural treasures out of a natural disaster... napier, new zealand.

The city of Napier, on the North Island's Hawke's Bay, is one of New Zealand's most unique cities, due in part to a natural disaster. Virtually destroyed by an earthquake in 1931, the city – despite the deprivations of the Great Depression – was rebuilt in just two years... leaving it with a wealth of Art-Deco architecture, much of it surviving to this day, that's unsurpassed anywhere in the world.

Australia and New Zealand Tours and Trips

Capital cities of Australia and New Zealand captured from afar.

Traveling to Australia Vs New Zealand: An Overview

A flight from Australia to New Zealand and back is the best way to travel between the two countries. The flight times vary between three to six hours.

Getting from Australia and New Zealand

Direct flights from Australia to New Zealand depart from several cities, including Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide. While many flights land in Auckland, the most popular destination, other arrival locations include Christchurch, Wellington and Queenstown. From Auckland, you can get connecting flights to many other airports in New Zealand. Sydney International Airport is Australia’s largest and busiest air hub for international flights, so you will likely start and end your tours of Australia and New Zealand in Sydney. Domestically, Australia is very well connected by flights. There are no international passenger ferries to New Zealand, so if you are keen on taking the sea route from Australia, you’ll have to join a cruise or hire a private yacht. Cruises to New Zealand depart from places such as Adelaide, Brisbane, Fremantle and Cairns. Most of these cruises are multiple-day affairs, and you’ll need to plan your time and budget accordingly.

Best time to visit Australia and New Zealand tours

Most Australia and New Zealand tours are organized between December and February, the high season for the two countries. To avoid crowds, you should book a trip anytime between March and May or September and November. These are the low seasons, and accommodations and activities are cheaper during these periods.

September to November is the perfect time to visit Western Australia to explore the wildflower trail. March, April, and May are perfect for exploring New Zealand to attend the Hokitika Wildfoods Festival and enjoy the mild temperatures suitable for swimming in the ocean, at least during the first months of the season. Read our guide on the best time to visit Australia for a full overview. Check out our article on the best time to go to New Zealand for all you need to know.

Highlights of Australia and New Zealand trip

Hot air balloon over Sydney bay in the evening in Australia

  • Australia and New Zealand tour packages should always include a few days in the main cities, mainly Auckland, Wellington, Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. Here, you can admire the local architecture, participate in one of the many events taking place all year round, and enjoy the local cuisine.
  • Exploring the Great Barrier Reef is an absolute must when on your Australia tour .
  • Every trip to New Zealand should include visiting Marae, the heart of the Maori community. This is the best way to learn about the local culture and traditions.
  • Some lesser-known but amazing activities include a Canberra trip on a hot air balloon and extreme sports like sand surfing and bungee jumping in New Zealand.
  • New Zealand is particularly known for its wild nature. It is not by chance that movies such as the Lord of the Rings and Narnia were filmed here. Spend a few days camping in a national park. Fiordland National Park and Tongariro National Park are highly recommended.

Australia and New Zealand Travel Tips

  • The easiest way to avoid tourist crowds in New Zealand and get lower prices on transportation is to travel south to north, starting from Queenstown and heading towards Auckland. Most tourists tend to go in the opposite direction.
  • Weather in New Zealand and Australia can differ widely. While New Zealand tends to be colder and wetter, Australia can get pretty hot. So dress in layers and bring your sunscreen.
  • New Zealand is a bit behind when it comes to wi-fi connection. So, don’t be surprised if your accommodation gives you a 20Mb coupon after claiming free wi-fi service. Get a local SIM card, eSim, or pocket wi-fi to stay connected with friends and family back home.
  • New Zealand and Australia do not have a tipping culture. So it is entirely up to you whether to tip or not.

What is a definite departure?

A departure is shown as 'Definite Departure' once it has reached a minimum number of guests. That particular departure will definitely run, barring any extraordinary circumstances. We update these regularly, and you can book any departure. While it is highly unlikely a departure doesn't meet the minimum number of guests, you will be offered the best alternative dates or a full refund of any payment made if this is the case. If there are ever any changes to your departure, we will contact you.

How can I book flights for my tour? What about extra hotel nights?

You can add flights and extra hotel nights directly through Trafalgar, so that everything is taken care of, leaving you to relax and enjoy your tour. If you're booking online, once you've selected your travel dates and room type, you'll be offered an option to add extra hotel nights and flights. Alternatively, you can call us to book and one of our travel experts can advise on your options.

What are the different kinds of experiences available?

Be My Guest Experiences are the original local travel experience, letting you step into the lives of hosts who will share stories about their families and communities. MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® Experiences are conscious travel experiences that give back to the local communities, which support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Our tours also include a selection of Optional Experiences which are available for an additional cost, allowing you to make your trip your own.

FLETCHER Announces New Australia and New Zealand Tour Dates for October

FLETCHER Announces New Australia and New Zealand Tour Dates for October

Published: Tuesday 17 September 2024

The wait is finally over , FLETCHER will be making her way to Australian and New Zealand fans this October!

After needing to postpone these shows, slated for July, the U.S. pop favourite will be arriving sooner rather than later, with her five-date tour set to kick off in Perth on October 20. The rescheduling of these shows have only served to heighten the anticipation surrounding FLETCHER’s return to this area of the world, now armed with two incredible studio albums in GIRL OF MY DREAMS and her latest record, IN SEARCH OF THE ANTIDOTE .

This year has been a busy one for FLETCHER, who has been able to return to touring festivals and venues, all the while continuing to prioritise her healing amid health issues that forced her off-road completely in 2023. Of her upcoming tour of Australia and NZ, FLETCHER has shared a message to her loyal Fletch Fam who have been hanging out for so long to see her again.

“ fam!  so excited to share these rescheduled dates with you. i’m so sorry it took a while to get this info to you, it takes a village to shift and align so many details to make sure i can put on the best possible show for you and get to the other side of the world to see you. cannot wait to visit you babies down under and sing with you!! see you right around the corner.

all my love,

Cari ”

All existing tickets remain valid for the new tour dates without the need for exchange so for ticket holders who have kept their tickets, no further action is required. Patrons who are unable to attend the rescheduled dates can obtain a refund from their point of purchase. Refund requests are to be submitted by 5pm, Thursday 3 October .

Created with GRAMMY winning producer/songwriter JENNIFER DECILVEO (Andra Day, Marina) , with a team of collaborators including One Love (Tate McRae, Hailee Steinfeld) and Jon Bellion (Camila Cabello, Halsey) , IN SEARCH OF THE ANTIDOTE is a polished and elevated, a fitting follow up and portrait of evolution from FLETCHER, whose profile has only continued to grow in recent years.

Of the album, FLETCHER has said, “ Over the years, I’ve looked for the antidote in so many things: women, the road, the stage, fans, spirituality and self-reflection. Making this album was an excavation, a deep dive where I asked myself what would truly heal me, and my ultimate realisation was that love is the antidote. From the Finding Fletcher EP to you ruined new york city for me to THE S(EX) TAPES to Girl Of My Dreams, love has always been my muse. But before now, I don’t think I’d ever really looked at love through all the different lenses and angles and discovered all its infinite manifestations. That’s what this album is about for me. ”

For her Australian and NZ tour dates, FLETCHER will be joined by ARIA-nominated Sydney pop artist, Charley .

Ultimate Meet & Greet Experience and Soundcheck Experience packages remain on offer, giving fans the opportunity to get up close and personal with FLETCHER on this tour. With over 1 billion global streams and upward of 64 million local streams across Australia , Fletcher is nothing short of a worldwide superstar, and a deserving heavyweight of today’s pop music scene that audiences will not want to miss– grab those tickets before they vanish.
