In  Star Trek Online: Unparalleled , the Khitomer Alliance has tasked you and a new Aetherian ally with modifying an Iconian Gateway, when you receive a distress call from another universe. New season of Star Trek Online is out now on Playstation and Xbox

Star Trek Online’s  32nd season, titled Unparalleled, is now available on Xbox and Playstation consoles and takes captains into action against a deadly, new Borg threat. There’s also a new ‘Borg Battle Royale’ and a new event.  A new trailer can be seen below…

In Unparalleled , players have been tasked to modify an Iconian Gateway with assistance from a new Aetherian ally when suddenly a distress call is received from another universe. Turns out that no universe is safe from a multiversal Borg who are attacking from within a massive Dyson Sphere.  It’s time for players to stop these new Borg before they can gain a foothold throughout the multiverse.

In this new season, players will get to meet Captain Sela, Captain of the Enterprise F from a parallel universe, voiced by Denise Crosby who played Tasha Yar in the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation .

Season 32 brings a new event called ‘Delete Alt Control’ that will reward players with items like the Dimensional Hypermass Torpedo Launcher or Type 14 Shuttle Support Squadron.  To earn these rewards and others like them, players will need to play through selected content.

Star Trek Online: Unparalleled  introduces the following features:

• A new episode called ‘Situation Under Control’.
• Players will join forces with the Aetherian and Captain Sela to defend a new universe.
• Participate in a Borg Battle Royale.
• A new Captain Ground TFO where players will fight waves of Borg in a holodeck simulation. Waves will increase in strength.
• The new Season 32 event with fantastic rewards. 
• The T6 Aetherian Revelation has been added to the Infinity Lockbox.

Finally, the new season sees the arrival of Captain Alteration Tokens.  This new token will allow players to keep all the rewards they have earned to date and change their Captain’s species and/or gender, within a chosen faction.

44th flee t’s star trek online beginners guide, 90% of all frequently asked questions:.

Escorts – do heavy damage with their dual heavy cannons, but weak hull and shields. Compact designs, very maneuverable. Preferred for a ‘fighter-like’ playstyle. Cruisers – average damage through all beams but strong hulls and decent shields. Lowest turn rate. Preferred ‘tank’ class. Science Vessels – specializes on healing, debuffing and damage through exotic powers like Gravity Well. Average hulls but strong shields. Are the ‘space wizards’ in STO. Small Craft – Shuttles and Fighters. Weak damage, weak hull and shields, but the fastest and required for some unique missions.

There are also many additional sub-classes including Heavy Escorts, Dreadnoughts, Battlecruisers, Carriers with fighters, Reconnaissance and Intel Science Vessels.

The Klingon, Romulan and Dominion factions have comparable classes but with extra unique specialities, such as (battle) cloaks, Raider flanking damage or Singularity powers. Additional cross-faction ships have even more unique abilities.

Go here for some simple starting builds you can copy – this is very basic but serve you well while leveling. They work for Federation, Klingon and Romulan comparable ships (eg Escorts – Bird of Preys – Warbirds).

Trust us; we’ve been there, done that. As in real life, knowledge is (fire) power – knowing how and especially why a certain mechanic works does more for your DPS than just slapping a specific weapon on your ship. There’s math involved, but just playing the game you’ll understand the basics pretty quickly.

But okay, twist my arm, these are all bonnie ships cap’n!

Compiled by our resident 44th Ship Master Sukobi , the following are considered the top tier ships in-game at this time (March 2021). New ships are always released so this list changes every year.

Inquiry Battlecruiser and the Fleet Shephard / Qugh Battlecruiser — These are all dynamite energy beam/cannon ships with the same ship layout: Qugh has battle cloak, and Inquiry adds Intel abilities to the Miracle Worker seat. Fearsome ships.

Vaadwaur MW Juggernaut — Unrivaled in the Dual Heavy Cannon space, this is a difficult ship to explain but it’ll do the job and has the hull of a tank.

Tzen-tar Dreadnought Carrier — mixed carrier/torpedo. 6 tactical consoles, 5 forward weapons, 2 hangars, and still 2 aft weapons. The same mobility as the Inquiry/Shephard/Qugh. Strong hull and massive shields.

Tholian Jorogumo Carrier — Best of the support carriers with two hangars, heavy shields and Gravity Well. This ship is about being able to squeeze maximum support out of every single gear slot.

Klingon D7 , Federation Constitution MW Flight Deck Carriers would likely be the most ideal standard dps-based tanks. Plus classic lines to boot.

Just remember, buying these ships are no guarantee ; you will still need to outfit them with top-end gear for their max potential.

Also, as a 44th Fleet member, you will now have access to superior and unique Fleet versions of many Federation, Romulan and Klingon ships (extra console slot, increased stats etc).

No longer a true ‘must have’, but the Plasmonic Leech console , especially for power-starved Romulan ships, is a good investment. Another nice one is the Sustained Radiant Field console from the Iconian Reputation.

Like ground/ship traits, there are always new consoles and set bonuses changing the ‘meta’ of the game – adapt !

So, with those CrtH:CrtD ratios, if you want to get the most possible out of your ship, you buff [CrtD] on weapons and [CrtH] on consoles.

There's a lot to like about Star Trek Online, even for players who aren't hardcore Star Trek fans or crazy people like me, but it does ask to be put up with to a certain extent. As for the console versions, it's also not all there yet, almost literally. At the same time, it's hard to name a more overtly generous free-to-play title on the current market, and it's worth a shot, for both Trek devotees and the merely Warp-curious.

Star Trek Online is a nice addition to the Star Trek family. Despite some awkward controls and less-than-exciting missions, the game gives a loving nod to the Star Trek universe. Its fine eye for detail in the Star Trek mythos and its excellent customization options add an extra dimension of depth to what would otherwise have been a hum-drum game. For non-fans of Star Trek, the game could begin to pall rather quickly, but for trekkies the game is well worth the ride.

This is one of those games that could use a little more time in the oven.

All things considered, the most disappointing aspect of Star Trek Online is how much potential one can sense while playing it. There are moments throughout the game that made me want to like it, such as the fiery explosions of defeated spacecraft. Ultimately, however, it is plagued with a number of issues that constantly upstage its positive qualities. Still, for a free game, who's complaining?

Set 2: Overcloaked

The Console - Universal - Cloaking Device is a universal starship console that grants Cloak . This console can be obtained from the following sources:

Originally, it could be equipped on any variant of the Defiant (Tier 5+), Avenger , and Aquarius classes, and any Dreadnought Cruiser version of the Galaxy class (listed below). As of 2/17/22, this console can now be equipped on any starship.

Game Description [ | ]

The Treaty of Algeron, signed in 2311 by the Romulan Star Empire and the United Federation of Planets , prohibited Federation cloaking devices. This agreement has been a source of controversy in Starfleet, where some officers believed it severely limited tactical options and put the Federation at a disadvantage.

Although the Federation initially agreed to follow the treaty after the destruction of the Romulan homeworld, in early 2409 Starfleet was authorized to develop and implement cloaking technology on selected ships.

This console allows you to cloak your ship. The cloak cannot be activated while in combat.

Cloak grants stealth to your starship, but lowers your shields while active. Cloak can only be activated outside of combat and will drop if combat is engaged or when you interact with an object or contact.

When activated, your shields will drop for a few seconds before the Cloak fully engages. Immediately after decloaking you will have a short duration damage bonus.

The strength of the cloak is determined by your starship's auxiliary power setting.

• The Cloak is a toggle ability, meaning it can be turned on indefinitely. However, the Cloak will shut down if the ship enters combat, takes damage, encounters a dialogue box, or warps out of the system. In addition, you may have to decloak if you want to interact with mission oriented items.
• The Cloak granted by this console is different than the Battle Cloak , as the Cloak cannot be activated in Red Alert. However, on some starships it can in fact be upgraded to Battle Cloak if they are able to equip the full Stealth Fighter set .
• This console was originally unique per character. However, it has been changed so that now any character can have as many as they want, although still only a single one can be equipped on each eligible starship, and it cannot be passed to other characters on the account.
• This console cannot be re-engineered or upgraded.
• As of 2/17/22, the console can now be equipped on any starship, including ones with built-in cloaks (i.e., Phantom Intel Escort). If so equipped, there will be two cloaking device tray icons available to slot in the tray. They look exactly alike, with only the tooltip and description being different. Equipping this console does NOT automatically change the tray icon for cloak if slotted - to allow use of Battle Cloak from the tray, you must change the slotted tray icon to the console version.
