We are just days away from the official kickoff of the Disney100 Celebration over at Disneyland!

In case you haven’t heard, Disney100 will be a year long event celebrating 100 years of Disney magic. The festivities will celebrate 10 decades of storytelling and magic, as well as the fans and families who have created cherished Disney memories.

In honor of the 100th anniversary of Disney’s founding, a new Disney100 mug has arrived at the Discovery Trading Company  at Disney’s Animal Kingdom .

This mug features Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy Goofy, and Pluto posing in front of a giant “100”. If you look closely you might even spot Chip and Dale!

I love the character design here. Mickey and his friends look timeless, and are wearing their Sunday finest. I also like the platinum motif that the whole cup has. If you didn’t know, Disney is calling their 100th anniversary the platinum celebration.

While some Disney100 merchandise has been geared towards the general Disney Parks brand, this mug is specifically for Walt Disney World fans.

Tinkerbell and the Cinderella Castle appear in the background, making this mug that much more magical.

New Disney100 Refillable Mugs Now at Disney World

New Disney100 Refillable Mugs Now at Disney World. Today marks the end of Walt Disney World ‘s 50th Anniversary and the beginning of whatever the future holds. For now, the future is the Disney100 celebration. We know already that most of the Disney100 will happen at Epcot, but it appears we are getting more of the celebration around the Disney Resorts.

We stopped by Disney’s Contemporary Resort today and got ourselves one of the new Disney Rapid Refill Disney100 mugs. There are 2 versions available. Well, 2 different colors of lids and handles, and the image is the same on both mugs. They are $21.99 each, and available around the resorts.

The two versions are purple handle with purple lid and platinum handle with platinum lid. Check out all the images below.

Disney World Resort hotels offer Disney Refillable Mugs for guests to purchase and use for free refills throughout their vacation! Here, we are answering the most Frequently Asked Questions about the Disney World Resort Refillable Mug Program.

Refillable Resort Mugs

Disney Refillable Mugs Overview

“Refillable mugs” are 16 oz. insulated coffee mugs sold at Disney hotels in the Resort’s primary Counter Service location. Guests are entitled to unlimited free refills on fountain drinks, coffee, and tea from participating beverage locations at Disney resorts for their length of stay up to 14 days.

The Rapid Fill program allows Disney Resort guests to buy a Resort mug that can be refilled for a certain period of time, as designated at the time of purchase. Guests participating in  the Disney Dining Plan also receive one per person as part of the package.

These mugs are enhanced by an RFID bar code which enables the mug to deactivate when the designated time is complete .

Mugs Must Be Activated Before Use

Mugs used to be considered collectibles, with each Disney resort offering unique patterns for their mugs. But starting with the Year of a Million Dreams, the mugs have been standardized no matter where you purchase them. That said, there are occasional changes in design.

What do the current mugs look like?

The most recent Refillable Mug made its debut in December 2023 .

In the past, we’ve seen seasonal variations such as Halloween and Happy Holidays mugs (though non-seasonal mugs remain a choice for those who don’t wish to bring home a seasonal mug).

How much do Refillable Mugs cost?

Refillable mugs are available for one flat price of $21.99 for the length of resort stay of up to 14 days, no matter how many days.

I’m on a Disney Dining Plan. How do I get my mug? 

Guests participating in the Disney Dining Plan may pick up their Resort Refillable Mug at any Resort Hotel’s Quick Service restaurant (even if they aren’t staying at that particular Resort). The My Disney Experience app tracks all of your Disney Dining Plan credits as well as the redemption of your Refillable Resort Mug, as seen in the screenshot below:

In our example above, you can see that our Dining Plan participant has redeemed 1 Table Service Meal and 1 Snack, but still has TWO Refillable Resort Mugs to pick up (one per guest on the reservations; the meals are tracked by the individual guest.) All Disney Dining Plan participants have to do is pick up a Refillable Resort Mug, bring it to a cast member at a register, and they will walk through the redemption process from there!

I’m resort hopping. Do I need to purchase a new mug at my second resort?

Nope! Refillable Resort Mugs may be filled at ANY participating Resort beverage station , even if you aren’t staying there (or staying at two or more different Resorts during your trip, commonly referred to as a “split stay”).

This benefit is good for the length of your entire trip, up to 14 days, regardless of resort/resort.

What beverages are available for Disney Refillable Mug refills?

You can have your mug refilled with coffee, iced or hot tea, soda , and hot chocolate .

*COOL INFO:* It’s interesting to note that most refillable mug stations have some sort of Hi-C lemonade/fruit punch option OR red/blue Powerade.

What beverages aren’t available for Disney Refillable Mug refills?

Most notably, milk and “real” fruit juice (e.g. no OJ or Apple Juice).

Will they refill my frozen margarita at the pool bar?

No. But you get points for creativity.

(Remember: you do NOT have to be staying at a specific Resort to refill your mug there!)

Check with your resort front desk to make sure you know all the locations where you can get refills at your hotel.

May I only use the Disney Refillable Mug at my resort?

No. Mugs may be used at any Disney-owned resort on property.

While you can’t use your resort mug in the parks (unless you’re getting water), you CAN purchase refillable mugs in the water parks — Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon . These have their own unique design and shape, as seen in the example below.

Can I save my mug when I get home and bring it back to use on all my subsequent Disney trips? No. The RFID chip will not function (and, at this time, cannot be reactivated) on your next vacation.

If I’m paying an exorbitant amount for my room and there are Disney Refillable Mugs already in there, does that mean they’re free?

Mugs are never free (unless you get them as part of the Dining Plan vacation package). The cost will be added to your bill.

The Extra Benefits of Disney’s Refillable Resort Mugs

When staying on property at Walt Disney World you have the option to purchase a Refillable Mug. You can use this for refills of hot and cold drinks for 14 days from date of purchase or for the length of your stay, if longer. Each Refillable Mug costs $21.99 plus tax or you get a free mug per person when using either of the Disney Dining Plans available. These Refillable Mugs can be divisive. Some love them, others think they’re not worth the cost. I am firmly in the ’love’ camp though and won’t stay on Disney property without one! I’ve even found some additional benefits which make them even more worthwhile for my family.

The Most Obvious Benefit – Free Refills

The biggest benefit of the Refillable Mugs are the free refills whilst staying on Walt Disney World property. The resorts will often have multiple refill stations offering a wide selection of sodas, iced teas and hot drinks including coffee, hot tea and even hot chocolate. With a single soda costing upwards of $4 plus tax, it really doesn’t take long before you’ve got your money’s worth. They’re also great for helping you to stay hydrated in the hot Florida sun. The mugs can be refilled at any Disney World Resort Hotel, not just the one you’re staying at. Which brings me nicely onto the next benefit.

Refillable Mugs Encourage me to Resort Hop

Whilst sadly the Refillable Mugs can’t be refilled within the parks or water parks, as mentioned above, they can be refilled at any Disney World Resort Hotel.

I love visiting as many resorts as I can. Having a Refillable Mug gives me an incentive to do this more often. On a park day, I fill my mug with a beverage of choice on my way out. I keep the mug with me throughout the day, often filling it with cold water and ice within the parks. When we want some downtime away from the hustle and bustle of the parks, we’ll go to a nearby resort and make the most of some refills.

Magic Kingdom

At Magic Kingdom you have the Resort Monorail, Boats and even walking paths right outside the main entrance, taking you to a wide choice of resorts. Our favourite is a quick trip on the Resort Monorail over to the Polynesian. We’ll refill our mugs in Capt. Cook’s , and then relax on the beach overlooking Seven Seas Lagoon.

From Epcot you can take the back exit, through International Gateway, almost right onto the Boardwalk. From here you’ll have the choice of Beach Club, Yacht Club or Boardwalk for a cheeky refill. The Market at Ale and Compass in Yacht Club even has Coke Freestyle Machines, taking those soda refills to the next level!

Hollywood Studios

With the addition of the Skyliner, Hollywood Studios is now connected to a whole host of resorts. The closest being Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and where better to relax with an ice cold drink from Centertown Market .

Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom doesn’t have the same ease of access to resorts as the other parks. However, taking a bus ride over to Animal Kingdom Lodge is 100% worth it. The resort is absolutely beautiful. You can refill your mug in The Mara and then relax whilst watching the animals roam the savanna within the resort.

Pre Cruise Stay

When combining a Walt Disney World trip with a Disney Cruise , I feel the Refillable Mugs are a must have. You can not only enjoy your free refills whilst in your resort before the cruise, you can then take your mug with you on the cruise. I know what you’re thinking – yes you do already get free soft drinks on a Disney Cruise, so you don’t need the mug to be able to get free drinks. However, these mugs are perfect for taking on board.

You can use your mugs at the refill stations allowing you to fill up a larger drink, as those small disposable cups provided really are tiny. It also allows you to easily carry multiple drinks elsewhere on the ship. Have you ever tried walking back to your stateroom carrying four cups of soda? It’s not easy! Four Refillable Mugs though are a cake walk. With their lids to prevent spills and handles allowing you to carry more than one in each hand, you can easily carry them around the ship.

Plus, if you’re heading back to Walt Disney World after your cruise, you can take your mug back with you and use it for refills at your next resort too.

Travelling Around

If you’re combining your Walt Disney World vacation with a trip to Disney’s Vero Beach Resort or Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort you can also use your Refillable Mugs at both resorts. Even if your total vacation is longer than two weeks, you can ask a cast member to extend the end date for your refills.

Using at Home

The benefits of a Refillable Mug don’t end when your vacation does. Once you’ve bought them, they’re yours to keep. We often take ours home with us and use them as a regular travel mug. They’re insulated, so are perfect for taking a hot drink to work in the morning or for a trip out with the kids. We’ve even taken them camping with us, to add a little bit of Disney magic!

“I prefer unlined mugs that are made out of 100% copper,” says Torner, explaining that the trend of lined mugs began from claims that copper leaches into drinks. “While it’s true that copper reacts with acidic liquids, the trace levels of copper that may be consumed from the chemical reactions are so minuscule that you’d have to drink several dozen beverages from your copper mug every day before it became a concern.”

Torner also reminds us that the body requires trace amounts of copper to maintain healthy cell growth and help avoid illnesses. In other words, you don’t need to worry if your copper Moscow Mule mugs are unlined.

Handle Strength

The handles on some Moscow Mule mugs are riveted, while others are welded. Welded handles are stronger and thus longer-lasting, but unless your mugs are going to be in heavy use — which is more likely in a bar than a home setting — you’ll be fine with either.

Ease of Cleaning

First, copper conducts temperature well, so when an ice-cold drink is put inside, the material actually absorbs that temperature and keeps the drink cold for longer. Second, there’s evidence to suggest that the copper interacts with the drink and intensifies the tart flavors of ginger and lime.”

It doesn’t have to be, but for the reasons above, a Moscow Mule is just better when enjoyed from a copper mug. If nothing else, enjoy it for the chill factor. 

“The thermal conductivity of copper is 20 times that of stainless steel,” says Torner.

Copper mugs should be washed by hand with warm, soapy water, then rinsed and dried thoroughly. Some mugs are dishwasher-safe, but handwashing may prolong their finish.
