Morgan Wallen Will Take 2023 ‘One Night at a Time’ on a Massive World Tour

By Tomás Mier

Morgan Wallen will be chasin’ his fans across the globe next year. On Monday, the controversial country artist added 14 additional shows to his already-massive 2023 tour “due to overwhelming demand,” following the success of his Dangerous album. He also announced a trio of new singles.

“2023 is gonna be a special year… I got a lot in store for y’all and thought we’d start with this,” wrote Wallen on Instagram, teasing the tour and new music. “Ready for y’all to hear what we’ve been working on so I’m dropping a few songs at midnight eastern time tonight.”

The tour seems to be named after one of the new songs he released Friday, “One Thing at a Time,” which he co-wrote with his opener, Ernest . Wallen also dropped “Tennessee Fan” and “Days That End in Why.” The trio of songs follows tracks “You Proof,” “Thought You Should Know,” and “Don’t Think Jesus” released earlier this year.

Wallen added extra dates in Milwaukee, Atlanta, East Rutherford, Pittsburgh, San Diego, Phoenix, Boston, Toronto, and Vancouver.

On select dates, Wallen will present Hardy and Parker McCollum as special guests, while newcomers Ernest and Bailey Zimmerman will open for the singer throughout the tour. “Thank you to Morgan for this opportunity. He could have picked anybody for these shows,” McCollum wrote on Instagram. “Grateful to get to do it. See y’all in 2023!”

MORGAN WALLEN – ABBEY ROAD SESSION...

When 11-time 2023 Billboard Music Awards-winner and Top Male Artist Morgan Wallen released his third studio album One Thing At A Time in 2023, its instant success left The New York Times proclaiming Wallen as “one of the biggest stars in pop, period.” One Thing At A Time has remained atop the all-genre Billboard 200 chart for 18 non-consecutive weeks, tying Garth Brooks’ Ropin’ the Wind with the most weeks at No. 1 for a country album; and was the most-streamed album of the year on Spotify. The album’s 6x-Platinum single “Last Night” reeled in over 1.5 billion streams globally, becoming the most-streamed song of any genre in the U.S. across Apple Music and Spotify, and the longest running No. 1 solo song in Hot 100 history (16 weeks total).

With 11 chart-toppers at country radio, Wallen recently wrapped his five countries / three continents 57-show One Night At A Time World Tour stadium tour. Playing to over 1 million fans in 2022 and 2023, Wallen’s One Night At A Time World Tour was the only country tour named to Deadline ’s “Top 10 Music Tours of 2023,” surpassing attendance records in numerous stops; including Ohio Stadium, where Wallen became the largest weekend ever for the venue, shattering records previously held by George Strait and Taylor Swift. Resuming this April in Indianapolis, Ind., the 2024 extension of One Night At A Time takes Wallen to 29 additional stadium-plays. Wallen donates $3 from every U.S. ticket sold to his Morgan Wallen Foundation .

13 Songs That Made Morgan Wallen ACM A Star

13. “the way i talk” (2016).

His very first single. A memorable lyric to the song, "Man, it ain't my fault, I just live the way I talk."

12. “Chasin’ You” (2019)

"Chasin' You" became Wallen's third consecutive Number One hit on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. The "Chasin' You (Dream Video)" was filmed in black and white and showed Wallen driving around Nashville, Tennessee, in a convertible.

11. “Wasted on You” (2022)

This song made history as it debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts for the week ending January 23, 2021, along with the album tracks "Somebody's Problem," "Warning," and "Sand in My Boots" and the singles "7 Summers" and "More Than My Hometown." In doing so, Wallen became the first artist ever to chart six songs within the top 10 of Hot Country Songs at the same time.

10. “This Bar” (2019)

Morgan said, "Wrote this song with my buddies about some moments and times in my life that have made me who I am today. Some good, some bad, but all of them I can look back on and grin a little."

9. “Somebody’s Problem” (2020)

This song's narrative is all about a budding new relationship; one ends and another begins. In the lyrics, Wallen thinks how a woman who is too good to be true could have slipped through an ex's fingers and guessed she is somebody else’s problem.

8. “Don’t Think Jesus” (2022)

Morgan said that even though he didn't write this song, it brought him to tears upon first hearing it, and he said it is of his most personal songs.

7. “Still Goin’ Down” (2020)

Wallen described the song as all about growing up in the country; it truly is a love song to the town that raised him. The song is an anthem that pays tribute to all the small-town Friday nights and beer drinking around the bonfire.

6. “Up Down” (featuring Florida Georgia Line) (2017)

A fun party song with Florida Georgia Line. The video features Wallen and both members of Florida Georgia Line partying on a beach and in concert.

5. “More Than My Hometown” (2020)

An ode to his hometown, the photograph used as the cover image for the single, was taken looking southbound on Tennessee Highway 70 just north of Kyles Ford, Tennessee. One of the towns listed on the highway sign in the photo, Sneedville, is Morgan’s actual hometown.

4. “Whiskey Glasses” (2018)

A big hit for Wallen, this song reached number one on the Billboard Country Airplay chart dated June 8, 2019, after topping the Hot Country Songs chart. The song was certified 3× Platinum by the RIAA in May of 2020.

3. “Flower Shops” (Ernest featuring Morgan Wallen) (2021)

This touching ballad's chorus sings, "Mister, I'll take your roses / If you cut off the thorns, she can't take no more / I'll buy violets and daisies to hide all the crazy, it's gonna take all you've got / Aw, it's a bad day for love, but a good day for flower shops."

2. “7 Summers” (2020)

This story song was the perfect vibe for the time. When this smash was released, the song broke the single-day Apple Music streaming record for a country song and debuted at number six on the Billboard Hot 100.

1. “Sand in My Boots” (2021)

This touching song is a nostalgic ballad about lost love, describes a worn-out cowboy, weathering lost love and fading memories of drinking with that girl who could've been the one. It became Wallen's fifth number one song in February of 2022.

Morgan Wallen

The New Yorker dubbed Morgan Wallen “the most wanted man in country” in part due to the CMA Award Winner’s 9 billion on-demand streams, multi-platinum certifications and four consecutive chart-toppers, and in part due to his flyover appeal: “Bruce Springsteen meets Larry the Cable Guy.” The critically-acclaimed ACM Album of the Year Dangerous: The Double Album (Big Loud/Republic Records), Wallen’s follow-up to his Double Platinum breakout If I Know Me, topped 2021’s all-genre Billboard 200 Albums year-end chart with 4.1 million units sold earning him Top Country Male Artist of the year at 2022’s Billboard Awards and sparking an in-demand 55-show THE DANGEROUS TOUR in 2022 that kicked off this February. The east Tennessean’s hit-packed set includes “Up Down” (2017), “Whiskey Glasses” (2018), “Chasin’ You” (2019), “More Than My Hometown” (2020), “7 Summers” (2020, named one of Time Magazine’s Best Songs of the Year) and his latest No. 1 “Sand In My Boots” and its demand has led to two nights at Madison Square Garden and Crypto.com alongside three sold-out nights at Bridgestone Arena. Wallen’s first solo release of 2022, the emotional ballad “Don’t Think Jesus,” timed to Good Friday in honor of its redemptive lyrics, earned a Top 10 Billboard Hot 100 debut and landed atop Billboard Hot Country Songs chart making him the first artist to score three No.1 debuts on the chart (based on airplay, streaming and sales) since its inception. Since, he’s released two additional songs, “Thought You Should Know” and “You Proof” marking subsequent No. 1 entries. Only 13 songs have premiered atop Hot Country Songs since the survey’s start as an all-encompassing genre ranking in 1958 – with Wallen boasting five of them. Working outside the traditional Nashville mainframe with producer Joey Moi, Hits Magazine notes, “Wallen continually colors outside the lines,” adding, in turn “he’s connected to his fans in ways unprecedented for a country star.” With over 800k tickets sold for 2022 so far, $3 from every ticket sold benefits the songwriter from East Tennessee’s More Than My Hometown Foundation.

One Night At A Time is produced by Live Nation in North America and is named after Wallen’s third studio album One Thing At A Time . The project arrived in March as the No. 1 album on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, where it remained for 12 consecutive weeks; the most at the top for a Country album in over 30 years. It currently remains in the top 10 alongside his 6x platinum ACM Album of the Year, Dangerous: The Double Album , Billboard’s longest running Top 10 album in history for a solo artist.

Recent chart-topper “ Last Night ” became his fastest-climbing No. 1 to-date (with just 11 weeks) and the fastest-charting No. 1 since 2015, remaining atop the all-genre Billboard 100 chart for 16 weeks; the longest running No. 1 solo song in Hot 100 history. “Last Night” was the most-streamed song of the summer, becoming the first song by a country artist to land the top spot on Spotify’s “Songs of the Summer” list.

Wallen currently has two hits top 10-and-climbing on country radio: “ Everything I Love, ” which interpolated The Allman Brothers' “Midnight Rider,” and the self-confident track “ Thinkin’ Bout Me .”

Three dollars ($3) of every ticket sold for U.S. dates benefits the Morgan Wallen Foundation (MWF) which supports programs for youth with a focus on sports and music. To-date, Wallen has supported community revitalization efforts for ballparks in local neighborhoods in some touring cities, including Boston and Chicago, and MWF recently donated $500k to Habitat For Humanity of Greater Nashville’s Parkwood community transformation project. MWF has also provided funding for nonprofits such as Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation , Make-A-Wish , The Salvation Army and National Museum of African American Music . Boot Barn , the nation’s leading lifestyle retailer of western and work-related footwear and apparel, will be joining Wallen on the road for his 2024 tour.

About Post Malone

A 9x diamond-certified GRAMMY® Award-nominated phenomenon, Dallas, TX artist Post Malone regularly rewrites history, blurs boundaries, and incites internet-breaking conversation with every move. Emerging in 2015 with a genre-less brew that inspired a movement, he delivered the diamond-selling “Congratulations” [feat. Quavo], achieved back-to-back #1 debuts on the Billboard Top 200, received countless multi-Platinum certifications around the world, and smashed one record after another with his Hot 100-topping hits. In 2022, he pushed boundaries again with his fourth full-length offering, Twelve Carat Toothache , which marked his fourth consecutive Top 5 bow on the Top 200. It also paved the way for his biggest headliner to date, The Twelve Carat Toothache Tour, taking over arenas for multiple dates in major cities throughout the year. He even scored “the highest-certified single in RIAA history” with the 17x-platinum “Sunflower ( Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse )” [feat. Swae Lee], netting the biggest single of his generation. In 2023, he garnered a GRAMMY® Award nod in the category of “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” for “I Like You (A Happier Song)” [with Doja Cat], marking his tenth career nomination in six years.

Three years prior, his 2019 third full-length, Hollywood’s Bleeding [Republic Records], represented an audience and critical high watermark. Not only did it arrive at platinum status and eventually go triple platinum, but it also reigned at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 for four weeks and returned to the chart for a fifth week, making for the longest run atop the chart of 2019 and the first release to do so in over a year. The quadruple-platinum lead single “Circles” seized #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks. It notably occupied a spot on the chart for a record 39 weeks in total. Speaking of making history, he performed a massively popular Nirvana tribute concert on YouTube, raising over $10,000,000 for the World Health Organization in the fight against COVID-19. Hollywood’s Bleeding followed the immense success of the triple-Platinum beerbongs & bentleys , which also landed at #1 a year prior. In the wake of beerbongs & bentleys , Post crushed a record in place for 54 years. He charted nine songs in the Top 20 of the Hot 100, notching “the most songs in the Top 20 of the Hot 100 ever . ” Moreover, he also trounced the record for most simultaneous Top 40 Hot 100 hits with 14.

As of 2023, his catalog comprises the GRAMMY® Award-nominated “rockstar” [feat. 21 Savage” (Diamond), “Sunflower ( Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse )” [feat. Swae Lee] (2x Diamond), “I Fall Apart” (Diamond), “Psycho” [feat. Ty Dolla $ign] (Diamond), “White Iverson” (Diamond), “Better Now” (Diamond), and more. Not to mention, he sold out numerous arena tours and hosted and curated his own mega-popular Posty Fest in 2018 and 2019. It all started with his quintuple-platinum influential 2016 debut, Stoney . With records under his belt that will likely never be surpassed and a generation of artists and audiences worldwide under his spell, Post Malone simply doesn’t stop.

Meet the Denver Local Behind Morgan Wallen’s One Night at a Time Tour

Thursday’s concert at Empower Field will be Cort Lawrence’s first hometown stadium show.

Jessica Giles

The Local newsletter is your free, daily guide to life in Colorado. For locals, by locals. Sign up today!

You might think that the breeding ground for music industry giants would be the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville or maybe Joe’s Pub in the Big Apple. But for Cort Lawrence, it was a strip-mall pizzeria in Centennial.

“During high school, I spent a lot of time being a part of a small, little broadcast show that was filmed at Big Bill’s New York Pizza ,” Lawrence says of the Colorado institution where he got his start. The Highlands Ranch native would interview local sports stars, former Miss Colorados, and other Mile High City celebs as part of his high school TV club. One such connection landed him on a tour bus with rock band Third Eye Blind at age 19.

Lawrence wasn’t playing bass or singing backup; instead, he was setting up lights, designing visuals, and planning pyrotechnics. Over the course of a decade, he worked his way up the ranks from grunt work to creative direction, ultimately launching his own production company, Raw Cereal , in 2022. Alongside his co-founder, Anders Rahm, Lawrence has spent the last several years bringing to life the visions of big-name artists including Machine Gun Kelly, Megan Thee Stallion, Avril Lavigne, and Lainey Wilson.

Now 31, Lawrence is climbing up to the next rung: working as the show director for Morgan Wallen’s One Night at a Time tour . When the country superstar’s concert rolls into Empower Field at Mile High Stadium on Thursday, it will be Lawrence’s first hometown stadium show. We caught up with the creative ahead of this milestone to get the lowdown on his Denver roots, the inspiration behind the tour’s design, and what it’s really like to work with the biggest name in contemporary country music.

Editor’s note: The following conversation has been edited for length and clarity.

5280: For the uninitiated, can you explain what it means to be a show director for a musician’s tour? Cort Lawrence: I see myself as an architect. That’s a term that was brought up maybe 30 years ago by someone I looked up to. He called himself a “show architect.” I agree with that. He was coming up with the drawings, the renderings, the creative intent, and all these ideas, and then he would take that and disperse it to all these teams and say, “This is what we’re going to build.”

You went straight from high school to a tour bus. What tour did you join? They needed somebody to come out on tour with Third Eye Blind at the time. That was my first tour. I was a lighting tech, but at that point in time, I didn’t know anything about the music industry or how it works. I was purely just a roadie: helping set up the stage, helping set out some lights, touring with them from stop to stop, and learning the ropes. I think that was the best classroom environment I could have ever been in.

So are you a self-taught graphic and show designer? Yeah, no formal education besides YouTube and just learning from myself. That’s the thing about design and creativity; there are no right or wrong answers, which is great, and that’s why it’s such an open environment.

morgan wallen tour charlotte nc 2023

Talk to me about the vision behind Morgan Wallen’s One Night at a Time Tour. What can fans expect to see? This design took eight to 10 months of planning. We came up with this giant screen that wraps around the stage. One of the reasons for that, though, is because Morgan wanted to have more audience. It helps the audience imagine the music, and it gives them a place to look, much like a movie.

Then behind that screen, we have a lot of lights and pyrotechnics, and we even have a smaller version of his mamaw’s house. So his mamaw’s house was recreated, and it lowers in for a few songs, and it gives that side of the audience a unique moment. Then on another side of the stage, we have some baseball bleachers that represent Morgan’s pastime: He was a baseball player in high school. And then we have a stadium light that comes down and finishes that scene. So we created all these different scenes to give the audience more of a TV performance and these more intimate moments to provide more connection for Morgan and the audience.

What has it been like to work with Morgan Wallen? We worked with him previously, and we’ve worked with his team a lot. That’s the one thing about the Nashville community—it’s so small, friendly and very family-oriented, which is amazing. We see Morgan as part of our family, and he sees us as part of his family out there. He’s very kind and courteous, and he’s a busy man. But we always appreciate working with him because we get to come up with something unique, and he gets to do his thing and really connect with his audience.

How are you feeling ahead of your very first hometown stadium show? It’s funny, every time I would come home it would be either at the Bluebird Theater or the Ogden Theatre, and then the Fillmore Auditorium, and then Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre, and then Red Rocks, and then Ball Arena. So I’ve worked all these from the ground up. And now, I finally get to say that I came to the biggest venue in Colorado, which is Mile High Stadium. That is huge.

Is there anything about your show design for Morgan Wallen that you think will particularly shine at Mile High Stadium? The audience is pretty close to the field, which is awesome. Some stadiums have the audience set back from where the actual field is, but Mile High has people surrounding all sides. So I think the crowd layout is going to be the biggest benefit. We utilize the light-up wristbands. That’s one of the big pieces to the show because it involves the audience, but Morgan gets to see it as well. He gets to see it moving to the music, creating shapes and color throughout the crowd. The crowd is a huge element.

Do you have a favorite tour you’ve worked on? I toured with the Red Hot Chili Peppers for quite a while. That’s where I met my wife—in London. She was visiting the Chili Peppers at a London show, and our love carried on from there. The Chili Peppers are a family-oriented camp, and those friends and family even attended our wedding. It’s a blast to see how your career grows and brings in new people and new life.

You’ve worked with huge names like Megan Thee Stallion, Machine Gun Kelly, Lainey Wilson, and now Wallen. Have you had a moment yet in your career where you felt like you’ve “made it”? I’m getting there. I think this has been really exciting, but we’re going to keep on pushing, because there are so many things still to create on our side. We’re so lucky to work with all of those big names, and no matter what size they’re at, I think our goal is to continue creating new things and pushing the boundaries. We just haven’t pushed the boundaries far enough yet. But once we have the ability to create something really new and shocking for this world, I think that’s where we’ll make it.

Morgan Wallen’s One Night at a Time tour comes to Empower Field at Mile High on Thursday, June 27, and Friday, June 28. Tickets start at $115 and can be purchased online .

Post Malone Announces F-1 Trillion Tour Dates: 'So Excited to Get Out and Play New Music for You'

In support of his forthcoming debut country album, the "Pour Me a Drink" singer has announced dates for his F-1 Trillion Tour, set to kick off in September

  • Post Malone has announced dates for his forthcoming F-1 Trillion tour, which begins this September
  • The 21-show outing is in support of the rapper/singer's debut country album, F-1 Trillion , out Aug. 16
  • So far, he's released album singles "I Had Some Help" and "Pour Me a Drink," featuring Morgan Wallen and Blake Shelton, respectively

Post Malone is pulling out all the stops for his country pivot.

On Tuesday, June 25, the rapper/singer, 28, revealed dates for his upcoming F-1 Trillion Tour, a 21-show outing hitting stadiums, festivals and theaters in support of his freshly announced debut country album of the same name.

“I love y’all so very much, and I’m so excited to get out and play new music for you,” Malone told fans in his tour announcement.

He kicks off the new tour in Salt Lake City on Sept. 8 before making stops in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Alabama and more. The “Circles” singer concludes his road run with a final show in Nashville on Oct. 19.

Pre-sale tickets go live on Wednesday, June 26, at 10 a.m. local time, while general sale tickets will be available on Monday, July 1, on livenation.com .

Just last week, Malone released his latest track, “ Pour Me a Drink ,” featuring country legend Blake Shelton , as the mark of his new countrified era. The single — which the collaborators first performed at CMA Fest on June 6 — arrived just a few days after the “Rockstar” artist unveiled the name of his sixth studio album with a giant purple billboard in Nashville.

“Sup motherf---as…F-1 Trillion August 16th,” Malone announced on Instagram , also confirming the LP’s release date. He followed up the next day by revealing the album’s artwork, which pictures an old F-150 pickup truck sinking vertically into a lake.

Malone officially began his country music foray in November when he teamed up with Morgan Wallen and HARDY for a performance at the 2023 CMA Awards . He continued with a feature on Beyoncé ’s Cowboy Carter album in March for their “Levii’s Jeans” collaboration before he surprise performed a slew of country covers at Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium the following month.

He then made his ACM Awards debut in May by performing his first F-1 Trillion earworm single and chart-topping hit, " I Had Some Help ," featuring Wallen, and a surprise a cappella version of The Allman Brothers Band's "Ramblin' Man" with host and country icon Reba McEntire .

Malone first toyed with the idea of recording a country album in 2022 during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show , where the 10-time Grammy-nominated star affirmed that he didn’t want to be confined to any one genre.

"To be honest, there's nothing stopping me from taking a camera or setting up in my studio in Utah and just recording a country album [to put] on YouTube," he shared. "I'm allowed to do that. I'm a human being."

"I split my time between a lot of different things because I am happily obligated to do concerts and show love to my fans, and then I'm happily obligated to write music and make beats by myself, and I'm happily obligated to, you know, take care of my family,” he added. “So, it's a lot of time, and it's about finding that space to allot that time. If I get another year to myself, maybe I'll make a f---ing country album."

The city is becoming a hot spot for live entertainment , but we still missed out on some of the biggest tours and musical acts of the year. “I would project that what the concert market does over the next five years is continue its current pace of growth,” Bumpas said. “I think you'll see concerts being (scheduled) further and further out … and then I think that the diversity of what we're bringing to the market will grow.”
