Star Trek has had a long history with comics that goes back to The Original Series . Many comic book publishers have released stories during this time, with IDW Publishing , the current home of Star Trek , having published over 400 issues so far. However, it’s taken until 2023 for a Star Trek crossover event .

That crossover is Star Trek: Day of Blood . In it, the emperor of the Klingon Empire, Kahless II, has consolidated his power and begun a crusade of slaughter with the help of the Bajoran Orb of Destruction. It will be up to the cast of both of IDW’s Star Trek comic book series to come together to stop it from happening.

So you don’t miss any of the action, I have created a reading order checklist for Star Trek: Day of Blood . It includes the recommended reading order to enjoy this tale, along with release dates, creative teams, background reading, and much more.

Table of contents

Do I need to be familiar with Star Trek to read these comics?

How to read star trek: day of blood, where can i find star trek comics, background reading, countdown to star trek: day of blood, star trek: day of blood reading order, after star trek: day of blood, collected editions.

To a degree, you need to be familiar with Star Trek to get the most out of these comics – specifically Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine . This is because they’re based on those television series and are written in a way that assumes you know certain characters and concepts.

However, those looking to watch something in preparation for Star Trek: Day of Blood should view one particular episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation . I recommend watching (or rewatching) the season 6 episode “ Rightful Heir ”. This will give you background on Kahless II, who’s a major villain in Star Trek: Day of Blood .

Star Trek: Day of Blood is a 5-part story, which includes two one-shots and two issues of Star Trek (2022 series) and Star Trek: Defiant . You’re required to read all five issues to get the entire story.

You’ll need to read Star Trek: Defiant if you’re only reading Star Trek (2022 series) and vice versa for the duration of this comic book event.

Check out the Star Trek: Day of Blood reading order section below to discover the recommended reading order.

Star Trek comics can be found at all good comic book shops , online retailers , eBay , and Amazon/Kindle .

Want to catch up on the Star Trek comics before jumping into Star Trek: Day of Blood ? Here are the comics I suggest you read.

Star Trek (2022 series) #1-6 and #9 Written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly. Art by Ramon Rosanas and Mike Feehan.

This series stars Benjamin Sisko, Data, T’Lir, Sato, and Beverly Crusher on board the U.S.S Thessus and it’s set on stardate 2378, when Sisko has returned from the Bajoran Wormhole as an omnipotent being. However, his powers are fading. With that in mind, the Prophets have sent him and his crew on a mission to stop the slaughter of space gods.

The first six issues have been collected in the Star Trek Volume 1: Godshock hardcover.

Star Trek: Defiant #1-2, and #5 Written by Christopher Cantwell. Art by Angel Unzueta.

Star Trek: Defiant is a spin-off series that stars Worf, B’Elanna Torres, Spock, Ro Laren, and Lore. Where Star Trek (2022 series) fits the traditional Star Trek formula, this series breaks the mold with the cast being fugitives on the run from Starfleet.

The following issues are stories that build towards the Star Trek: Day of Blood crossover. Check out these issues if you’re looking to see hints and set-up to the event.

Star Trek (2022 series) #7-8 and #10 Written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly. Art by Mike Feehan.

IDW Publishing presents an all-new five-part series in Star Trek: Day of Blood #1 , uniting the two ongoing IDW series, Star Trek and Star Trek: Defiant , into a single spectacular crossover event. Written by Christopher Cantwell, Collin Kelly , and Jackson Lanzing , illustrated by Ramon Rosanas , with colors by Lee Loughridge and letters by Clayton Cowles. Star Trek: Day of Blood #1 follows the paths of Captain Sisko (of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine fame) and Commander Worf (one of the breakout stars of Star Trek: The Next Generation ) as these estranged fan-favorites join forces to avert disaster.

Star Trek: Day of Blood #1 begins the saga of the U.S.S. Theseus and the rogue U.S.S. Defiant banding together to prevent an unprecedented interstellar war prompted by The Red Path, a Klingon war cult, and calls for purification by mass slaughter.

Cantwell, Kelly, and Lanzing gel together excellently in Star Trek: Day of Blood #1, utilizing their experience writing Star Trek and Star Trek: Defiant to merge the respective crews of the Theseus and the Defiant into a dynamic ensemble cast. Filled with poetic, weighty writing, Star Trek: Day of Blood #1 instinctively finds the gravitas of a Star Trek outing without sacrificing any of the authenticity of its dialogue or the individual voices of characters. The range of characters is well-selected, from iconic heroes like Ambassador Spock to original characters introduced via the comic lines, such as Ensign T'Lir. The tensions between the two crews feel organic and compelling, giving the comic space to operate on emotional vectors besides the overarching narrative and acting as a great vehicle to explore and flesh out individual personalities. The bulk of the comic is dedicated to expository dialogue and action, setting up the dynamics and relationships convincingly, with the trade-off that little of the plot actually gets underway in this issue.

In the art of Star Trek: Day of Blood #1, Rosanas demonstrates an impressive ability to balance stylization and naturalism, working in thin but razor-precise lines to carve out some impressive likenesses. The characters are instantly recognizable on the page, translated from their live-action appearances with clarity and accuracy. However, the faithfulness of recreation across mediums occasionally leaves the expressions of characters lacking a sense of nuance or subtlety, although never veering towards outright uncanniness. Rosanas does a lot of really terrific mechanical and industrial drawing, depicting starships and futuristic debris with an eye for detail, creating a real sense of scale and style. The depictions of space itself are also well done, building a sense of depth and awe by mixing textures and making use of some particularly impactful double-page spreads.

Loughridge's colors are solid throughout Star Trek: Day of Blood #1, distinguishing the various settings with specific pallets and infusing them with a sense of atmosphere. The colors used in space-scapes are particularly impressive, with some gorgeously eye-catching nebulae, planets, and constellations. The letters of Star Trek: Day of Blood #1 are clear and well-executed. Cowles does great work in his emboldening and italicization choices, building natural speech patterns and emphasis into the dialogue. The font and color used for the Klingon language are also excellent, both visually striking and adding an inflection of tone and flavor.

Star Trek: Day of Blood #1 is a strong opening to the Star Trek summer crossover, nicely setting the stage for the dramatic events to come. As the issue is predominantly expository, it functions as a great jumping-in point for Trekkies unfamiliar with the comics so far to get excited and invested in the print series before making their way through the back catalog. Star Trek: Day of Blood #1 moves slowly but methodically, leaving the meat of the plot to future issues but convincingly exploring various dynamics and concepts that will hopefully pay dividends later in the narrative.

God killers target Sisko and Worf in IDW's 'Star Trek: Day of Blood' story arc

A new prelude issue for Free Comic Book Day ushers in this first-ever "Star Trek" crossover event.

Star Trek: Prelude to Day of Blood heads to the Klingon homeworld with an arena

For the first time since taking over command of the official "Star Trek" comic book line in 2007, IDW Publishing will present "Star Trek: Day of Blood," an absorbing 5-issue crossover event beginning this July that joins together the new "Star Trek" flagship title with the upcoming " Star Trek: Defiant " series arriving in March.

This brash " Star Trek " new storyline is being given a special introductory one-shot for Free Comic Book Day on May 6 with " Star Trek: Prelude to Day of Blood ," co-written by esteemed Trek comic creators Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, and Christopher Cantwell with artwork by Mike Feehan.

Star Trek: Prelude to Day of Blood with bloody Federation insignia.

""Star Trek: Day of Blood" is what this last year of comic book planning has been all about," says senior editor Heather Antos in an IDW press release . "It all leads to this moment. Was Sisko the correct choice of the Prophets? Will Worf's Klingon honor serve him well? Or will the two remain in the crossfires of the godkiller? Jackson, Collin, and Chris are asking some of the biggest questions we've ever seen in "Star Trek" comics, and it's time to answer them in the franchise’s first-ever classic summer crossover event."

Here’s the official synopsis:

"In Prelude to Day of Blood, the U.S.S. Santa Cruz travels to the Korvat colony for Kot’baval. But what was supposed to be a simple observation of the sacred Klingon festival quickly turns into a bloodbath when the cult of the godkiller reveals themselves to the universe."

Star Trek: Prelude to Day of Blood characters landing on a Klingon world in a shuttlecraft.

"It's time for Benjamin Sisko to face the past," Lanzing said in the statment. "And for readers to finally get a look at the true fallout of the Dominion War. " Deep Space Nine " is the inspiration for this entire line, so it feels only right that the crew of the U.S.S. Theseus come back to where it all started."

Cantwell admits to being nothing short of ecstatic to be a vital creative player in IDW's expansive "Star Trek" initiative.

"There were moments in our writers' room with Jackson and Collin where I couldn't believe we were really doing this," he adds. "Not just telling one "Star Trek" story but weaving together multiple Trek stories at the same time, with plotlines from "Star Trek" and "Star Trek: Defiant" converging. We threw all our boldest ideas and best character pairings into a story of pure chaos, starship battles, and real epic dramatic resonance you can only achieve in the scope of comics."

Star Trek: Prelude to Day of Blood

"Star Trek: Prelude to Day of Blood" lands on May 6  with cover art by Malachi Ward.

"As lifelong "Star Trek" fans, Jack and I have been dreaming of this kind of thing since we can remember," Kelly notes. "This is the kind of event you could only do in comics, with enormous stakes and two starship crews colliding in the middle of a truly deadly crisis. This is our season finale."

To follow the entire "Day of Blood" story arc, readers can step aboard these five issues: "Star Trek: Day of Blood #1" (July 2023); "Star Trek: Defiant #6" (August 2023); "Star Trek #11" (August 2023); "Star Trek: Defiant #7" (September 2023); and "Star Trek #12" (September 2023).

REVIEW – Star Trek: Day of Blood Part #1

Connor Schwigtenberg

The day is here! At long last the first ever Star Trek comic book event has finally hit the shelves. Star Trek: Day of Blood Part #1 is the beginning of a five-part adventure, pushing the characters we’ve come to know and love to their absolute limits. But there’s been a fair bit of hype generated for these releases, so does this crossover live up to the hype? Will Worf, Sisko, and this ragtag team be able to put aside their differences to defeat Emperor Kahless? Read on!

star trek day of blood

The comic begins with a quick introduction to the story, told through Sisko’s log on the USS Theseus. It’s kind of an answer to Worf’s message in the last issue of Star Trek: Defiant , and also a brief summary of where Sisko is at this point in the series. While I’ve been reading along, I haven’t touched the mainline Star Trek series for a few months. From a certain point of view, this then feels like a reunion of sorts, but it’s nothing compared to what’s waiting on the next page.

As soon as the crew of the Theseus beams down to meet Worf on Qo’nos, it’s like all the nostalgia comes running back. It’s the sort of euphoria I’ve not felt since the full TNG reunion on Star Trek: Picard (which really wasn’t all that long ago). There’s even a full page of both crews’ personnel files, with T’Lir’s redacted file, the unknown name of the Orion Medical officer, and even full names and pronouns. It’s truly a sight to behold. While half of Star Trek: Day of Blood Part #1 may make it a bit on the long side, it’s a joy to read (and re-read!)

Their interactions are as brilliant as ever, too. Sisko and Worf do just about all the planning, the rest of the characters just pair off and comedically bicker for a few pages. It’s brilliant. For every predictable pairing like Paris and Torres, we get something inspired like Ro Laren and Shaxs. The crossover really makes good on its premise here, we get to see characters interact with one another. It’s a nice way to help lighten the mood before the back half of Star Trek: Day of Blood Part #1 really kicks things into gear

Rise of the God-Killers

star trek day of blood

The reunion ends with an exchange between Worf and Sisko. I love the way it presents them both as fathers. While until this comic series, I would’ve classed Worf as a bad father, and still do, he’s genuinely trying to redeem himself. Sisko on the other hand was one of the greatest fathers on television. There’s a nice conflict there that I’m glad they’re exploring fully. Now that Alexander’s life is on the line, it puts Worf in a far more delicate position.

What follows is a glorious, barely comprehensible series of fire, angry speeches, ship battles, and the occasional explosion. That’s not a complaint either, I loved it. Pages upon pages of stuff that you only really start appreciating when you read it a second or third time. There’s a lot to love about Kahless’ speech, which is reminiscent of some fascist calls to action we’ve seen in our own world. The way we see ordinary Klingons reacting, mixed with some murder and explosions around the page, really gave the scene some scale.

The crew left on the Theseus remarks that the fight over Qo’nos is not a fight that they were ready for. With the large fleet, and then the ensuing civil unrest all over the planet, you can hardly blame them. I’ve reviewed more than a few of these comics and this is without a doubt the most action I’ve ever seen translated into a Star Trek comic. It’s that cool. If the rest of the series has anything in store quite like that, we are not ready for what’s coming.

Into the Warzone

star trek day of blood

Saying Star Trek: Day of Blood Part #1 technically calms down from that before it ends is accurate. However, calling the rest of this calm would be so far from the truth. We cut to the Klingon High Council Chambers, and who do we meet up with there? None other than the leader of the Klingon Empire himself, Martok! Seeing him refute Kahless’ grip on the Klingon people was amazing. He’s such a good leader and is easily a favorite recurring character from DS9 .

With Klingon violence targeting political leaders, it looks like he’s in a lot of danger. Thankfully there’s no confirmation of his death in this issue, and he’s not the sort of character you kill without a proper glorious death scene. Beverly also sets up a medevac rescue mission, with her classic wit in tow. There’s little in the way of confirmation, but it’s safe to assume that she lives to fight another day.

It genuinely doesn’t let up for so much as a panel, it’s on such a grand scale. There’s a nice mix of light comedy moments and sweeping epic battles that continue throughout the whole thing. Thankfully, the cliffhanger isn’t quite as extreme as some of the more recent ones have been. Sisko and Worf are driving toward the capitol, and they hit a landmine. The fact that that’s on the milder end of cliffhangers tells you everything you need to know about this series. When Worf says the darkest is yet to come, he means it.

Issue Preview

star trek day of blood

This epic five-part story will continue in Star Trek: Defiant #6 , which comes out in August. I don’t know about you, but I can barely contain my excitement. Their darkest battle is still to come, and the Red Path is as deadly as ever. I’m also looking forward to seeing how they rescue Martok, as Beverly’s got quite the brilliant crew assembled. Bring it on! This is everything I wanted from this comic and so so much more.

You can pick up your own copy of the one-shot Star Trek: Day of Blood Part #1 in all good comic book stores. It’s also available to order from Amazon and IDW Publishing’s website, with both physical and digital editions available for purchase. Prelude to Day of Blood is co-written by veteran Trek comic creators Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, and Christopher Cantwell with art by Mike Feehan. “It’s time for Benjamin Sisko to face the past,” says Lanzing, “and for readers to finally get a look at the true fallout of the Dominion War. Deep Space Nine is the inspiration for this entire line, so it feels only right that the crew of the U.S.S. Theseus come back to where it all started.”

From Prelude to Day of Blood

“As lifelong Star Trek fans, Jack and I have been dreaming of this kind of thing since we can remember. This is the kind of event you could only do in comics, with enormous stakes and two starship crews colliding in the middle of a truly deadly crisis. This is our season finale, and it all begins in Free Comic Book Day’s Prelude to Day of Blood. ”

star trek day of blood

“ Star Trek: Day of Blood is what this last year of comic book planning has been all about,” says senior editor Heather Antos. “It all leads to this moment. Was Sisko the correct choice of the Prophets? Will Worf’s Klingon honor serve him well? Or will the two remain in the crossfires of the godkiller? Jackson, Collin, and Chris are asking some of the biggest questions we’ve ever seen in Star Trek comics, and it’s time to answer them in the franchise’s first-ever classic summer crossover event.”

Oh, my. That artwork is not very good.

Wow, I had the exact opposite reaction! I think it tells the story well, the characters look like the people they are supposed to resemble, and it doesn’t rely on a lot of flash but gets the job done. What didn’t you like about it?

Agree with you Denes… I think this artwork is excellent! The character likenesses are well done here in my opinion. The Theseus design is a bit different, but the Santa Cruz is a ship design I’d like to see more of!

Seriously, what ship is that supposed to be in the second-to-last image? Bizarre. I do like the Santa Cruz design, though I’ve always had a soft spot for anything Reliant/Miranda Class-looking.

That is the Theseus. Without giving away too much of the story, it’s the ship that Sisko and crew are on throughout. It’s an older design that is given new life by a particularly gifted engineer.

Glad to hear it’s the Theseus because shouldn’t the Santa Cruz be California Class?

I thought the artwork looks much better than the artwork in the new “Star Trek” series that just launched.

That Spock/Worf page is begging to be turned into a dad joke meme.

That is some of the most amateurish-looking artwork IDW has ever featured in its Star Trek comics. They were doing so well, too.

I think that you’re alone in this rude assessment.

He isn’t.

I agree it’s not as good as I would expect from a prime property like Star Trek. Is it better than anything I could produce? By a lightyear.

That #1A cover is one of the absolute worst comic covers I have ever seen. What the heck are they doing with their hands?!

Star Trek's first comic book crossover Day of Blood features a who's who of Trek crews

It's all hands on deck as Spock, Worf, Sisko, and Data crossover this summer

Star Trek: Day of Blood art

Star Trek: Day of Blood is the title of IDW Publishing's first-ever Star Trek comic book crossover.

The five-issue event which will also have a lead-in story in Prelude to Day of Blood, IDW's Free Comic Book Day offering on May 6, launches in July with the Star Trek: Day of Blood #1 special and then continues in the monthly August and September issues of the flagship Star Trek ongoing series (issues #11 and #12) and the upcoming new ongoing series Star Trek: Defiant (#6 and #7).

Star Trek: Day of Blood cover art

In Prelude to Day of Blood FCBD special co-written by Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, and Christopher Cantwell, illustrated by Mike Feehan and with cover art by Malachi Ward, the U.S.S. Santa Cruz travels to the Korvat colony for the sacred Klingon festival Kot'baval, which honors Kahless the Unforgettable's defeat of the tyrant Molor in combat for you non-Klingon scholars out there.

"But what was supposed to be a simple observation of the festival quickly turns into a bloodbath when the cult of the godkiller reveals themselves to the universe," reads IDW's description.

"I've been nothing short of ecstatic to be a part of this new, larger Star Trek initiative at IDW," says Cantwell.

"There were moments in our writers' room with Jackson and Collin where I couldn't believe we were really doing this - not just telling one Star Trek   story but weaving together multiple Trek stories at the same time, with plotlines from Star Trek and Star Trek: Defiant converging. We threw all our boldest ideas and best character pairings into a story of pure chaos, starship battles, and real epic dramatic resonance you can only achieve in the scope of comics."

Star Trek: Day of Blood cover art

Described as "dark and edgy" and "the Dirty Dozen meets Star Trek," Star Trek: Defiant launches in March 2023 and features Worf assembling "a hand-picked crew to face a galaxy-spanning threat."

That crew features an all-star team of characters from past Star Trek franchises, including Spock, Data's malevolent 'brother' Lore from The Next Generation, B'Elanna Torres from Voyager, and Ensign Ro Laren (TNG).

The main IDW Star Trek series that launched last year features Deep Space Nine's Benjamin Sisko after his return from Bajoran Wormhole. With his omnipotent godhood failing, he captains the U.S.S. Theseus along with two other TNG veterans - Data and Beverly Crusher - on a mission to stop a killer murdering the Star Trek Universe's gods.

"It's time for Benjamin Sisko to face the past," says Lanzing of the crossover, "and for readers to finally get a look at the true fallout of the Dominion War. Deep Space Nine is the inspiration for this entire line, so it feels only right that the crew of the U.S.S. Theseus come back to where it all started.

"This is the kind of event you could only do in comics, with enormous stakes and two starship crews colliding in the middle of a truly deadly crisis. This is our season finale."

According to IDW senior editor Heather Antos Star Trek: Day of Blood is what the publisher's last year of comic book planning was all about.

"It all leads to this moment," she says. "Was Sisko the correct choice of the Prophets? Will Worf's Klingon honor serve him well? Or will the two remain in the crossfires of the godkiller? Jackson, Collin, and Chris are asking some of the biggest questions we’ve ever seen in Star Trek   comics, and it's time to answer them in the franchise's first-ever classic summer crossover event."

I'm not just the Newsarama founder and editor-in-chief, I'm also a reader. And that reference is just a little bit older than the beginning of my Newsarama journey. I founded what would become the comic book news site in 1996, and except for a brief sojourn at Marvel Comics as its marketing and communications manager in 2003, I've been writing about new comic book titles, creative changes, and occasionally offering my perspective on important industry events and developments for the 25 years since. Despite many changes to Newsarama, my passion for the medium of comic books and the characters makes the last quarter-century (it's crazy to see that in writing) time spent doing what I love most.

Why Is September 8th Star Trek Day?

Star Trek The Next Generation TNG Patrick Stewart Captain Picard Day

"Star Trek" is celebrating its 58th anniversary today. On September 8, 1966, the series premiered on U.S. television with "The Man Trap." (It debuted in Canada two days earlier, but while the future of "Star Trek" may be internationalist, our present is still U.S.-centered).

"The Man Trap" may not have been the first choice for the public debut of "Star Trek," but it still kicked off a prestigious legacy. That legacy extends well past the 78 more adventures that the original U.S.S. Enterprise went on from 1966 to 1969.

"Star Trek" begat modern fandom: conventions, fanzines, fanfiction, cosplay, and then internet forums in the 1990s during the "Next Generation" era. It's even one of the earliest examples of a TV series being revived thanks to ardent fan demand, something quite common nowadays. Between that and the geekiness baked into science fiction, it's no surprise that Trekkies remain a go-to stereotype for insufferable nerds. They've even claimed their own holiday, naturally on the day it all began, September 8.

It's become common for different fandoms to claim a day as the holiday for their favorite series or characters. Some use the same basis as Trekkies do, marking down the series' premiere anniversary. July 22 is "One Piece" Day because the first chapter of the "One Piece" manga was published on July 22, 1997. Batman Day (started by DC Comics in 2014) was originally held on July 23 — the 75th anniversary of Batman's first appearance in "Detective Comics" #27. Since then, though, Batman Day has been moved to late September. Other fandoms get cheekier with their holidays. May 4 is "Star Wars" Day because, of course, "May 4th" sounds a bit like "May the Force [be with you]." Both "Mean Girls" fans and "Fullmetal Alchemist" fans commemorate their favorites on October 3 , because that's a significant date in both stories.

Since "Star Trek" Day fell on a Sunday this year (don't you just hate it when holidays fall on days you already have off), how should you spend it?

How to celebrate Star Trek day

Star Trek The Man Trap Leonard Nimoy Spock William Shatner Captain Kirk

This year, the "Star Trek" website has announced the "Take the Chair, Make an Impact" campaign. The "Star Trek" franchise is making donations to Code.org (centered on spreading computer science education), the non-profit DoSomething.org, and the LGBTQ+ human rights group Outright International. Trekkies are encouraged to also "to embrace the optimistic vision of a brighter future." 25% of sales on select "Star Trek" merchandise made during the month of September will be donated to these non-profits.

The Taste of Chicago fair (held from Sept. 6-8), the ALEXA Mall in Berlin, and Richmond Centre in Vancouver are also holding pop-up events this Star Trek Day where fans can sit in a recreation of the Enterprise's captain chair.

For the Trekkies who prefer staying indoors, Paramount has made the pilots of each "Star Trek" show free to stream on Paramount+, Amazon, Apple, Roku, and Pluto TV until September 13. If you're so inclined, you can do a whole "Trek" marathon (with /Film's recs for the best episodes and which ones to avoid  as your guide).

Happy "Star Trek" day to all, and to all a good (space)flight.

Why is ‘Star Trek’ Day celebrated on September 8?

Today, Sunday September 8, is Star Trek Day - a celebration that coincides with the anniversary of the iconic sci-fi franchise’s television debut.

Nearly 60 years of Star Trek

It was on this day in 1966 that Star Trek first aired on the small screen in the United States . American viewers tuned in to watch the episode “The Man Trap”, in which the crew of the star ship the USS Enterprise are attacked by a shape-changing alien that kills its victims by extracting salt from their bodies.

Since Star Trek ’s TV premiere just under six decades ago, ‘Trekkies’ have not only been treated to 78 further episodes of what has gone on to be dubbed The Original Series . The show has also spawned no fewer than 11 spin-off series, as well as a host of movies and a collection of sub-20-minute shorts, known as Short Treks . There have also been video games, books and comic books.

This will be the fifth official edition of Star Trek Day , which was first held in 2020. As part of this year’s celebrations, fans of the franchise are being given free online access to the opening episodes of several Star Trek series, in addition to a number of Short Treks .

How to watch the free Star Trek episodes

The Star Trek premiere episodes will be free to watch on Paramount+ partner platforms (Amazon, Apple, Roku), the Paramount+ YouTube page, Pluto TV and the Paramount+ free content hub (US only).

“Take the Chair, Make an Impact”

For Star Trek Day 2024, the franchise has unveiled the campaign “Take the Chair, Make an Impact”, an initiative which “invites fans to see themselves in the iconic USS Enterprise captain’s chair and ask themselves, ‘ What would I do if I were setting the course to the future? ’” The campaign has seen Star Trek partner with a trio of non-profits that share the franchise’s core values; these, it says, are “diversity, inclusion, acceptance and hope”.

The three organisations are: Code.org, which helps children to learn computer science; DoSomething.org, which encourages youngsters to drive change; and Outright International, which campaigns for LGBTIQ people’s rights.

Meanwhile, official Star Trek Day events are being held across the weekend in the United States, Canada and Germany.

For the fifth time, fans of the sci-fi franchise are celebrating the official ‘Star Trek’ Day.
